Eric Ruben is a law professor, currently teaching at Southern Methodist University School of Law, where he is researching issues involving self-defense and the right to keep and bear arms. He teaches criminal law, professional responsibility, and a seminar on the Second Amendment.Ruben’s work has been appeared in the California Law Review, Duke Law Journal, Georgetown Law Journal, Iowa Law Review, and Yale Law Journal Forum. His popular commentary on the right to keep and bear arms has appeared in The Atlantic, New York Times, Vox, Jurist, The Conversation, and Scotusblog, as well as on NPR, ABC News, and Peacock, among others.Previously, Ruben was a fellow at the Brennan Center for Justice and an adjunct professor at New York University School of Law. Before that, he worked as a criminal defense attorney and served as a law clerk for the Honorable Julio M. Fuentes of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.Ruben received his his B.A. from Dartmouth College, and his J.D. from NYU School of Law, where he was an Editor for the NYU Law Review.
