Kate Walbert is an author of novels and short stories.Walbert's work has appeared in The New Yorker and The Paris Review, and has twice been included in The Best American Short Stories and the O. Henry Awards.Walbert's first collection of stories, "Where She Went," was published in 1998. Her first novel, "The Gardens of Kyoto," was published in 2001 and received the Connecticut Book Award. Her second novel, "Our Kind," was a finalist for the National Book Award in fiction. Her third novel, "A Short History of Women," was a New York Times bestseller and a finalist for the Los Angeles Times Book Prize.Walbert attended Northwestern University’s School of Communication and received her M.A. in English from New York University.
