Lena Waithe is an acclaimed writer, producer, and actress. She is a writer and actress on the Netflix series Master of None, where her writing for the episode "Thanksgiving" earned her an Emmy Award in 2017, making her the first Black woman to win in the comedy writing category. Waithe is the creator of the Showtime drama series The Chi and the BET series Twenties. She also produced the film Queen & Slim (2019). Waithe is recognized for her advocacy of LGBTQ+ representation in Hollywood.
