Endorphins are neuropeptides

0:03

from the hypothalamus and

0:05

pituitary gland. They cross

0:08

the blood -brain barrier

0:10

and head into the

0:12

opioid receptors. To

0:14

block pain and create

0:16

feelings of euphoria. And

0:20

if anything I said

0:22

resonates inside your head,

0:25

then tune on in

0:27

to the Endorphin Report.

0:31

Welcome to the endorphin report. I'm

0:33

Daniel. I'm Cynthia So

0:36

I felt like we should introduce ourselves a

0:38

little bit more and not just assume everybody

0:40

knows who we are So I'm Daniel Saunders.

0:43

I'm Paul Saunders brother. That's

0:45

my only claim to be

0:47

doing this podcast and This is

0:49

Cynthia. I am your ex

0:51

roommate. That's right. That's my claim to fame

0:53

many years ago She's a

0:56

nurse practitioner. Yep in Boston

0:58

where we both are Other

1:00

than that, our only qualification is that

1:02

we like rom -coms and especially Cynthia

1:04

likes rom -coms. I think I introduced

1:07

you to the idea of liking rom -coms when I

1:09

lived with you. I don't think you probably, I don't

1:11

think they're probably registered in your mind prior to that.

1:13

Well, I certainly have seen a lot more since meeting

1:15

you. Yes. in my

1:18

life before that. Yes, I definitely

1:20

think I've had that impact on your life. And

1:22

you're my ear to the ground, like what's going

1:24

on in the world of rom -coms? What's, what's

1:26

worth seeing? Finger on the pulse. Yeah. And

1:29

especially Christmas romcoms, which we're about to

1:31

get into on this podcast. The

1:34

reason for you being so drawn

1:36

to romcoms is endorphins. Yes.

1:40

Just the happy feelings I get, which

1:42

I used to look exclusively from good,

1:44

well done romcoms. But then I realized

1:46

there was value in bad ones as

1:48

well. And you also ran out of them too,

1:50

probably. I really did. There's not that many. So you

1:53

just got a scrounge for what you got. Yeah.

1:55

The movie we're doing today is The

1:58

Merry Gentlemen, a 2024 movie

2:00

on Netflix starring Britt Robertson

2:02

and Chad Michael Murray. That

2:05

name rings a bell. Is he from something? He

2:08

was from One Tree Hill. He was in a

2:10

bunch of like CW type shows and stuff. He

2:12

was like a little cutie back then. And

2:15

now he's like a 40 -something cutie.

2:17

Right, which tends to happen with time.

2:20

Yeah. Being linear and so forth. First,

2:23

I thought it might be fun to

2:25

talk about holiday movies and do a

2:27

Christmas recap. We

2:30

both have watched a lot of Christmas

2:32

movies that are rom -coms this year.

2:35

And I thought we could talk about some of

2:37

those before we get into the Merry Gentlemen. We're

2:39

hitting the our December time. How

2:41

we spent it. We're recording this

2:44

in January. So the Christmas feeling

2:46

is basically gone. Yeah. Well,

2:48

my tree is still up, but yeah, so

2:50

is mine. Yeah. But

2:52

we definitely had a very active season. So

2:55

talk about some of the movies you saw home what

2:57

you thought of them. Yes, yes.

3:00

So one was actually one that you

3:02

watched yourself on Hallmark and then recommended

3:04

to me to watch. I did. Look

3:07

at you. Look what I've done to

3:09

you. It's true. So it was

3:11

the one Royal Christmas, which had Broadway stars,

3:13

including, I'm going to say his last name

3:15

wrong. So you say his name. Aaron

3:19

to fight. I believe it's pronounced. He's

3:21

a Broadway star, and he is Prince

3:23

of the Country of Galwick. He

3:26

goes to Connecticut for something. He gets stranded,

3:28

meets a woman at Dunkin' Donuts. They meet.

3:30

They have to hang out. He's stranded with

3:32

her in the house like the usual, fall

3:35

in love, that stuff. It

3:37

was inter - Retaining I actually thought because

3:39

I don't know I just I think I

3:42

just because I liked him and I like

3:44

him as a Broadway star I was easily

3:46

swayed And I was willing to forgive some

3:48

of the silly things, but I mean I

3:50

thought they actually had actual emotion They were

3:52

like one step better than the normal acting

3:54

I'm glad and then you saw it as

3:56

well. So what were your feelings on it?

3:59

I did and I really had a great

4:01

time with it. I love seeing those Broadway

4:03

stars Aaron Tavate is a

4:05

huge favorite of mine, and it also is

4:07

full of tons of others, some of which

4:09

I've seen on stage, like Victoria Clark. I

4:11

did not know one of them, but I

4:13

definitely knew 100%. She was a Broadway star

4:15

when they started singing at a Christmas carol,

4:17

and her voice built it out like a

4:19

blamo. So I was like, oh, oh yeah,

4:21

she's definitely one. And I got to go

4:23

down a rabbit hole of finding out that

4:25

there is a gaudy -ass castle that exists

4:27

in Connecticut. Okay,

4:29

so to me, that was a cut above for

4:31

sure. A cut above? Unexpected. What

4:33

else did you see and how do you rank

4:35

them? Okay, we have a

4:38

Biltmore Christmas. It's about a old

4:40

-timey 1940s movie that is being

4:42

remade. This woman is rewriting the

4:44

movie. and so she's trying to

4:46

get inspiration from it and it

4:48

was a love story and she's

4:50

kind of like boo on love

4:53

and she gets put back into

4:55

when they're filming it and it's

4:57

in this Biltmore mansion and she

4:59

ends up going back in time

5:01

at variable times falling in love

5:03

with one of the lead actors

5:05

who then, spoiler, comes into the

5:08

future to be with her forever.

5:10

What? Yeah. You have strong opinions

5:12

about time travel romance. Oh,

5:14

so much. So yeah. And

5:17

the funny thing is because this is built more Christmas,

5:19

this is a really old -timey 1940s movie. I

5:22

was like, this should be called something

5:24

like a white Christmas because this is

5:26

the whitest Christmas cast I've seen of

5:28

this whole season. It was pure white

5:30

actors. I was like, damn. That's

5:32

not good. OK. What

5:35

else? Heidelberg Christmas.

5:38

Where a American woman goes to

5:40

the Heidelberg in Germany Christmas market

5:42

to sell her ornaments, which is

5:44

a big deal because her family

5:46

originally is from Heidelberg. And she

5:48

meets the friendliest Germans in the

5:50

world and nicest family ever there.

5:52

Germans are friendly. They

5:54

are friendly. It is true. This is

5:56

the more societally. They're a little bit

5:58

more reserved at first as a society.

6:01

And here these people are the

6:03

friendliest people ever. So even by

6:05

American standards, they are super friendly.

6:09

And I actually talked to other people.

6:11

They people really multiple people. I know

6:13

really enjoyed this unironically because this is

6:15

just sweet. And if you were

6:18

in part of this family, nobody would ever

6:20

have any trauma. Like it is the nicest

6:22

family. Everybody's happy. And

6:24

it's actually filmed in Heidelberg with like a

6:27

real castle there. And it's like reals. It's

6:29

not just like, you know, the gazebo. as

6:31

they always do in Connecticut, or

6:33

to work in Canada. It's like, you know. Yeah.

6:36

So how about endorphin moments? I

6:39

thought it was really sweet. It's like you're drinking a

6:41

cup of cocoa. It was very nice. Nothing

6:43

like high endorphins. We're like, oh my

6:45

God. But like drinking a cup of

6:48

cocoa endorphins. OK. Any quick shots? We

6:50

want to go down the list if

6:52

there's more. Oh, I

6:54

saw it single all the way. I enjoyed that. I

6:56

texted you about that. Single all the way. Very sweet.

6:58

Came out, I think, a year ago or last year.

7:01

Very enjoyable. Oh, yeah, I was gonna

7:03

say that's probably my favorite LGBT themed

7:05

Christmas rom -com so far Yes, I

7:08

thought it was really enjoyable really sweet

7:10

really liked it and yeah Michael Yuri's

7:12

in it and yes, it could not

7:15

have a better supporting cast. It's got

7:17

Jennifer Coolidge Doing funny stuff. Yeah, the

7:19

many good funny lines. It's funny. It's

7:22

sweet. Yeah, really enjoyable really loved it

7:24

So the two lesbian ones was well

7:26

three but the two cheap ones that

7:29

I saw were friends and family Christmas

7:31

and a holiday I do and They're

7:33

both were not great, but fairly sweet

7:36

The thing that they had in common

7:38

was that they both had these families

7:40

that were incredibly overbearing that were determined

7:42

to metal and get people set up

7:45

hooked up Yep, that's a big theme

7:47

or at least that was in single

7:49

all the way that was very that

7:52

was a big theme of meddling and

7:54

people must be in a committed Monogamous

7:56

relationship for family to settle and be

7:59

happy. That is a very big theme

8:01

Right, and I guess it's sweet in

8:03

the sense that They're not homophobic they

8:06

go so far in the other direction

8:08

as to be obsessed with their child

8:10

dating someone of the same sex Yeah,

8:13

and getting into a stable long -term

8:15

relationship They both had that Friends and

8:17

Family Christmas took place in the city,

8:20

which was clearly Vancouver, but it was

8:22

supposed to be Brooklyn. And

8:25

it was a photographer and a

8:27

high -powered lawyer. And they had

8:29

to pretend to be going together

8:31

to get their family off their

8:33

back and guess what happened? They

8:36

actually fall in love. So

8:38

that was that. Yeah,

8:41

Stanley Park stood in for Brooklyn Park

8:43

and stuff like that. And it was

8:45

kind of sweet, but also very boring.

8:48

Yeah. Yeah. Some of these things are just

8:50

like they're just they they're default on just

8:52

slightly boring, not bad, just kind of boring

8:55

or just a low budget, which many are.

8:57

So, you know, it's slightly better was a

8:59

holiday I do, which is set at a

9:01

ranch that's in danger of being sold. But

9:04

where they dated in high school and then

9:07

one went off to Broadway and they haven't

9:09

been in touch for three years. And now

9:11

she's coming back. One of them is actually

9:13

Fairly Butch, which is cool to see. This

9:16

one had the family literally sneaking around with

9:18

walkie -talkies trying to coordinate them getting back

9:21

together. And I'm like, you don't know why

9:23

they broke up. Yeah, this is too much.

9:25

Yeah. You're determined to get these

9:27

two back together in their hometown. And

9:29

by the way, yeah, in this case, it's

9:31

a hometown hottie versus big city person. And

9:33

the career was a real obstacle, but it

9:35

was so cheap that they didn't have money

9:37

for fake snow. So it's the

9:39

first Christmas around come I've seen where they

9:41

just It's just grass. You mean

9:43

they're addressing global warming? Right.

9:46

Exactly. We also saw Carol, you

9:48

know, the big prestige movie with Kate Blanchett. That

9:51

is not a rom -com. It is not. That

9:53

is not a rom -com. Take that off your

9:55

list. That is not a rom -com. I'll take

9:57

it off my list. I just want to has

9:59

drum, it's not a rom -com. But

10:01

it does have endorphins, at least for me. Oh,

10:03

yes. But it is not rom -com. It is.

10:05

There's, you know. Yeah. I'll say.

10:09

Maybe it doesn't belong on the podcast,

10:11

but it does have endorphins in the

10:13

sense of like intense looks, intense flirting.

10:15

Oh, I'm sure, yeah. When Capel Enchants

10:17

said, well, you move in with me

10:20

and then they leave and then they

10:22

come back together, it's very intense. Yeah,

10:25

you saw endorphins, but that's not going

10:27

to be in the romantic comedy section

10:29

of Netflix. I got you. Okay, so

10:31

that's all mine. It's been a very

10:33

rom -com heavy Christmas, but great. Let's

10:35

turn to the one that I have

10:37

not seen at all. Okay. Yeah. the

10:39

married gentleman and talk about the plot.

10:41

And then after that, we'll talk about

10:43

some other segments like the next day.

10:45

Will they make it? Things

10:47

like that. Who could do better and

10:49

then give the endorphin report. So

10:52

take us away with the plot. All

10:56

right. So as we said, we got...

10:58

Robinson, oh, we got

11:00

Chad Michael Murray just to set the

11:02

picture. Britt Robinson's a blonde, probably

11:05

40 -year -old female who is

11:07

basically probably what we'd consider a

11:09

rockette. It's called the Jingle Bells,

11:11

but she's basically a rockette. They

11:13

show her dancing as a rockette

11:15

and also... that she is on

11:17

the older side of being a

11:19

rocket because they introduce her to

11:21

a young thing. And

11:24

basically mid season of the Christmas season, it's

11:26

probably, I don't know, like a month that

11:28

they do rockets. They go, you know, we

11:30

always like to shake things up new faces.

11:32

And they basically from ageism, they're just like,

11:34

please leave mid season. They decide to make

11:37

a cast change. That's messed up. She says

11:39

basically like she's always been too busy in

11:41

her past to either be home at Christmas

11:43

or date at all and is always taken

11:45

over our entire life and you're like, isn't

11:47

this a seasonal thing? So I don't know

11:50

what she's doing the rest of the year,

11:52

but basically she makes it out that this

11:54

has taken over her entire life year round.

11:56

She's resting the other 11 months. Yes. Yes,

11:58

she's just in a hibernation thing to keep

12:00

her muscles in good shape. So

12:03

she didn't see this coming. She didn't

12:05

have a backup plan. Nothing. They just

12:07

say, I mean, it's just literally mid

12:09

-season. Mid -season, yeah. Who replaces their

12:11

star, who's literally on the front of

12:13

the program mid -season, unless something bad

12:15

is going on. So she's a star

12:17

rocket? She's literally the center rocket, the

12:19

center. So she's been

12:22

a city girl. And then she's going to her hometown,

12:24

which is, I remember Syracuse Creek

12:27

or something and picture like Michigan

12:29

or something. She's going home to

12:31

her family there. She literally is

12:34

a dancer with amazing dance skills,

12:36

but still is somehow clumsy enough

12:38

to bump into a hot handyman

12:40

and gets caught up with him

12:43

and falls to situational gracefulness. Yes.

12:47

And so when hot men come,

12:49

her neurological skills fail. You

12:51

know, that's probably evolution. I

12:54

mean, wouldn't you want to be like showing

12:56

them that you're very genetically amazing? Wouldn't you

12:58

want to not just be like, look at

13:00

my deficits. I can barely walk when I'm

13:02

around you. That doesn't seem evolutionarily great. I

13:05

guess so. But if you fall right into his lap, you

13:08

know, that helps to propagate the species. I suppose

13:11

so. Yes. So just always have a banana peel

13:13

in your pocket. Just make it situational. So

13:16

she goes home and her family has

13:18

a club, kind of like bar, band

13:21

place, booking bands and music and such.

13:23

And they are struggling because a lot

13:25

of music groups don't want to play

13:27

at a venue that size. So they

13:29

used to be a big thing and

13:31

now they're kind of struggling. And so

13:33

she's there and the owner of the

13:36

club, because the owner rents it out

13:38

to them, the owner comes by and

13:40

mentions that they're like 30K in debt.

13:43

You know, it's December, but in January, I found

13:45

to help your parents out. Basically, I think the

13:47

equivalent of a Jamba Juice or something would like

13:49

fill that space, which is kind of a weird

13:52

space for a Jamba Juice to fill. And they're

13:54

like, they'll pay all your back rent and take

13:56

care of all the problems. Instead of consulting with

13:58

her parents who are in their 60s about this

14:00

possible helpful plan to them, she's like, no, no,

14:03

no, I'm going to create a new show and

14:05

I'm going to save this place. We'll

14:07

put on a show. Yeah, she's

14:10

with the hot handyman right there

14:12

and she is basically like I'm

14:14

gonna make a male dance show

14:17

by the way I watched this

14:19

with my family and when I

14:21

saw that this was like sexy

14:23

dance show I write it

14:25

out to my dad and I was like,

14:27

you know, woman creates like sexy dance. I

14:29

was basically summing up like a sexy dance

14:32

show to save club and he was like,

14:34

oh, and then I was like with men

14:36

and he goes, and I had zero worries

14:38

about watching this with my dad being uncomfortable

14:40

because it is rated PG. I'm like, there

14:43

will be a shirt off at most. It's

14:45

not going to be the full Monty. He

14:47

also fell asleep has predicted. So I was

14:49

able to just I was not worried 100

14:51

% turning this on. I was like, not

14:54

a problem. It's not for people who would

14:56

actually want to go to a club like

14:58

this. This is not a magic mic. This

15:00

is not. Yeah, I was just like, no,

15:02

it's it's fine. So PG. It's

15:05

much less spicy than magic mic. Definitely.

15:08

So the handyman is that Chad

15:10

Michael Murray? Yes. His name is

15:12

Luke. Oh, thank you. OK,

15:14

so Luke the handyman. recruits

15:17

him immediately a bartender there and

15:19

then her brother -in -law to

15:21

be dancers and these three men

15:24

immediately agree to dance every single

15:26

night in a male show for

15:28

the next like two or three

15:30

weeks to help with a $30

15:32

cover women are paying to go

15:34

in to watch them dance So

15:36

she trains them so she teaches

15:38

them to dance basically magic mic

15:40

style and creates a show that

15:42

they will perform every single night

15:45

and good for her Two

15:47

of these guys have serious, serious

15:49

abs. Uh -huh. One of the

15:51

guys, he was actually in the movie The Remake

15:54

of Dirty Dancing. Did you see that? I

15:56

did see parts of that. It

15:58

was pretty bad. I saw it

16:01

and I remembered seeing him and

16:03

that in one of it he's

16:05

dancing with a girl. Is he

16:07

the... Patrick Swayze character. He is

16:09

the Patrick Swayze and he is

16:11

like showing his abs which are

16:14

just too too dehydrated and too

16:16

abby and now I Too

16:19

abby, too much abs. I was like,

16:21

this is not attainable. This is too

16:23

much. And this is like many years

16:25

later, the actual actor is in this

16:28

movie. And his abs went from being

16:30

super cut, too much abs, to literally,

16:32

they are like soda cans. Each ab

16:34

is like a soda can on his

16:36

abdomen. I was like, oh gosh, I'm

16:39

worried for your health. So

16:41

I continue to worry about the

16:43

health of these guys who are

16:45

supplementing and dehydrating themselves. But

16:48

these guys now, in steps of other movies, like Hot

16:51

Frosty, where they just have to be hot, these have

16:53

to be hot and they have to dance. So

16:56

she has created this show where

16:58

every single night women pay $30,

17:01

they come in, they watch these

17:03

men do a three minute dance,

17:05

take off their shirt, maybe throw

17:07

out a necklace at them. And

17:10

then the show is over, women keep

17:12

drinking and everything's great. And

17:14

the show changes every single night

17:16

in that sometimes they're cowboys, sometimes

17:18

they're construction workers, sometimes they're Chippendales.

17:21

So they lose a new routine every single

17:23

night. That's a three minute thing. And the

17:25

women have no problem. Plenty of women are

17:27

coming from small towns all over to watch

17:29

a three minute dance of a guys who

17:31

take their shirts off. Okay, I

17:34

guess this market is not oversaturated for

17:36

that. It is raking in the money.

17:38

They are coming in. And plus tips

17:41

for the guys, right? I

17:43

mean, I think the point is, no, it's not like

17:45

a stripper, like they're throwing money. The point is I

17:47

think what the people are there, they're paying the cover

17:49

and then they're getting drinks. I see. And then they're

17:51

there, they had a good time watching the three minute

17:53

dance, and then now they're just having a ton of

17:56

drinks. Okay, so put yourself in that mindset. Say you're

17:58

in a small town, not a lot

18:00

to do, but you're yourself otherwise.

18:03

Would you would you pay that $30? Would

18:05

you drive to that place? I would have

18:07

to be pretty bored. I would do it

18:09

has a fundraiser thing That they're saying please

18:11

say thing please come I would do it

18:14

in a fundraiser with friends because I'm having

18:16

a drink I would not find a three

18:18

-minute show sufficient of $30. Okay

18:20

as fundraisers go though. It's pretty fun It

18:22

would be if it's considered a fundraiser, but

18:24

it's not it's considered a legitimate show some

18:27

very good apps on display Yeah,

18:29

men are they doing it dancing and these

18:31

amateur dancers are doing really good and then

18:33

they recruit during this showtime two other dancers

18:36

They recruit one guy who is a taxi

18:38

driver who seems to be a real professional

18:40

dancer So this helps increase the quality of

18:42

the dances you're watching in the movie is

18:44

because they basically have two to three real

18:46

professional dancers in there And then they get

18:49

a 60 year old guy who's the bar

18:51

regular who just sits there all day who

18:53

also then joins it suddenly too. Uh -huh.

18:55

So so they're doing elaborate routines Not

18:58

a lot of hip thrusting, probably. Some

19:00

hip thrusting, ripping the shirt off, the very

19:02

most that happens is the guy lowers his

19:05

pants and you see his underwear, which says

19:07

something like naughty elf or something like that.

19:09

But there's no G -strings, there's nothing else.

19:11

Pants stay on the rest of the time.

19:15

So things are going well. Things are going

19:17

well. They're getting money. They're trying to make

19:19

30k. They're getting closer to the thing. You

19:21

would think how do you make profit with

19:24

having four dancers learn a routine every night

19:26

and personalize outfits to them. But

19:28

maybe these guys are free. Let's just call

19:30

this full fundraiser month. We'll just call it

19:32

fundraiser month. So she

19:34

works with the handyman, Luke. He's

19:37

pretty smitten pretty quickly with her. He

19:40

gives her a necklace of a

19:42

Christmas wreath. And he's

19:44

like, thank you for coming into my life. He

19:46

gives her seasonal jewelry, which is not a move

19:49

I see very often. And

19:51

so this is the first mention of Christmas so

19:53

far. Yeah. Well, it's Christmas time

19:56

this whole time. So I mean, it's Christmas

19:58

December. Right. But it

20:00

sounds like it's not that critical to

20:02

the plot so far. Well, we got

20:04

the Rockettes, we got December, we got

20:06

decorations, we got everything

20:08

is Christmas decorated everywhere. So, so anyways

20:10

about Luke, his sad backstory is that

20:12

he moved to this town with a

20:14

girl from the city and then she

20:16

left him and he's been sad until

20:18

now until he met the girl. Like

20:21

many of these men who've been wronged by

20:23

city girls, he, yeah, city

20:26

girl is a bad word in

20:28

this. So... been

20:30

hurting this whole time, but now

20:32

he's finally getting happy again. He's

20:34

dancing, he's learning new

20:36

things, and he likes this girl, so

20:38

things are turning around. So he's blossoming

20:41

as a dancer. He is, and then

20:43

he learned how to dance, and he

20:45

danced with the girl, and then they

20:48

kiss, and then she gets

20:50

a phone call, and then you

20:52

are going to guess what happens

20:54

in the rest of the film

20:56

and how it ends. You're

20:58

going to bring it home and tell me how this movie

21:00

ends. The

21:03

phone call is saying we made a mistake.

21:05

We need you as part of the Rockettes.

21:08

We want you to come back and resume

21:11

your incredible career of once a month employment.

21:14

And she has to decide, do I

21:16

stay in this bar and help to

21:18

bring it back or do I go

21:21

back to the glamorous Rockette life? And

21:24

he gets a little sad face about that.

21:28

She actually goes so far as to

21:30

get to the airport and almost get

21:32

on the plane. And

21:34

he's about to do his, uh,

21:37

the last performance because I can't continue

21:39

without her. Cause she sews all the

21:41

uniforms and teaches some of the new

21:43

routines, but they're about to do a

21:45

very, very sad strip dance. And

21:48

just then she shows up in

21:50

the audience and he realizes she's

21:52

chosen him and the Mary gentlemen.

21:54

Then they give their horniest dance

21:56

ever and everybody goes crazy. and

21:58

the borrower will be in the

22:00

epilogue the borrower saved and they

22:02

kiss. That's my prediction.

22:05

Yeah, I don't think it was probably too hard

22:07

to guess, but well done. You've also been so

22:09

well trained this season with watching rom -coms that

22:12

you were banged on. It's

22:14

really not been training for this

22:16

moment. Yeah, it's really not that

22:18

this one is pretty damn predictable.

22:21

So she is a 40 -year

22:23

-old dancer, let's say, of the

22:25

Rockettes. which, you know, very time

22:27

-limited career at this point. She

22:29

gets a call for a 25

22:31

% raise, a three

22:33

-year contract guaranteed, which

22:35

is like pretty amazing for a dancer. And

22:38

especially we know she's time -limited. And then

22:40

they say, we will fly you back

22:42

first class tomorrow to do the Christmas Eve

22:44

show. And she's like, tomorrow?

22:47

That's almost Christmas and you're like for a

22:49

Christmas season show you're surprised you have to

22:52

go back for Christmas like did you expect

22:54

to be dancing in February for this like

22:56

I Understand never being home for Christmas because

22:58

you're like a rocket I understand that that's

23:00

something that you've probably been neglecting in your

23:03

life is that but like This as I

23:05

said, this is like very seems like a

23:07

month You know, maybe two months because maybe

23:09

you have to do all the trainings and

23:11

all that maybe two and a half months

23:13

who knows but like Not a full year

23:16

round thing But basically, if this has been

23:18

consuming her, she gets a pretty good thing,

23:20

and then she thinks about it, and then

23:22

she accepts. And then she tells

23:24

them. I mean, literally, there's only a few days left

23:26

of this show that her kind of fundraising show will

23:29

say that she's been doing for the nightclub. And

23:32

Luke, handyman, hot man,

23:34

gets very sad and

23:36

offended. And he calls

23:38

her city girl like an insult. He's just

23:40

like, oh, you city girls. That's a great

23:42

rap group, though, city girls. Anyway.

23:45

So then he's just like, you know, you

23:47

just leave me. I was falling for you.

23:50

Like, you know, you're here and you built

23:52

this and now you're just leaving. I oiled

23:54

my chest just for you. I know he

23:56

didn't actually wax. I think maybe he did.

23:58

I don't know. But what is he furry?

24:01

Maybe a little bit. I don't

24:03

actually recall. Definitely the soda can

24:06

ab guy waxed 100 % waxed.

24:08

He's probably been waxed for 15

24:10

years. So then he's

24:12

very upset. I think the unsaid

24:14

thing is how dare you do your career.

24:17

She then tells her sister how she cared

24:20

for him so much and she doesn't know

24:22

that she'll be able to tell him that

24:24

and then she leave, but he overhears it

24:26

because he's fixing something. And

24:28

my notes for that were Hot Man Sad, which

24:31

could be the title of the summary of

24:33

a lot of movies. That could just be the

24:35

synopsis of many movies, just Hot Man Sad. Basically,

24:38

they are doing the show. And it's

24:41

his literal part to come out and

24:43

just do like a little, all he

24:45

has to do is like shake his

24:47

hips in front of people. And it

24:49

literally looks so sad. He's too sad

24:51

to dance. He says, stop the music.

24:54

Like he's too sad to dance. He

24:56

called this one so well. He's just

24:58

like, ugh. And then she walks in.

25:00

She sees her and then he gets

25:02

his horny back and he starts dancing

25:04

and then they have a good old

25:07

time and everything's great Then show ends

25:09

like usual, you know, everyone claps. She

25:11

goes to him in front of the

25:13

stage You know, so they're kind of

25:15

basically standing on the stage tells him

25:17

she cares for him They make up

25:20

and they make out and nobody's paying

25:22

attention. Everybody's just having a drink not

25:24

caring No problem. People were

25:26

happy. They got their three minutes. Don't need to watch

25:28

a shirtless hot guy make out with a girl in

25:30

front of them. It's fine. Gotcha. Even though they're up

25:32

on a stage. Yeah, they're literally

25:34

like standing in front of a stage. People

25:37

are like, let's give them their privacy on

25:39

the stage. Yeah, everyone's like, no, we got

25:41

shirtless. We don't need anymore. We need to

25:43

give this man his intimate relationship moment. Uh

25:45

-huh. That's better than when they all applaud.

25:48

No, they didn't do it, which I approve. I don't

25:50

like public making out. That feels weird with like everyone.

25:52

That's weird. I'm glad they skip that part. The

25:55

next day, all the dancer men are invited

25:57

with her family to have a Christmas dinner.

25:59

So their thing of getting to be shirtless

26:01

for all this time is they're finally allowed

26:03

to eat carbs. They actually

26:06

have a large Christmas dinner. That's what they're

26:08

paid in is the Christmas dinner. They are,

26:10

yes, they're like, here you are. You get

26:12

to eat carbs today. She

26:14

then invites the owner that day to like

26:16

pick up the check of the 30 ,000. She

26:18

invites her on Christmas to come pick up

26:20

a check. And then she says, you come

26:22

stay. You're like family. And then everything's great. She

26:25

gets a new start with the people she

26:27

loves. The end. OK.

26:30

Yeah. Man, I was good. Oh,

26:33

yeah. This is the best you've ever done. We've

26:36

got segments now to talk about.

26:39

This romance. Mm -hmm.

26:41

The next day. What's

26:45

gonna happen the next day after

26:47

they get together? She has torpedoed

26:49

her career because she told that

26:52

agent, the woman, the Rockettes that

26:54

she would go and then she

26:56

cancels last minute. She's basically burned

26:59

bridges with her entire professional life

27:01

there, which is big. Yeah. Uh,

27:04

that's a big thing. That is not

27:06

a great way to restart your career

27:08

But she's basically learned that she does

27:10

seem to like teaching and things like

27:12

that So I guess she'll still have

27:14

her name that she was a rocket

27:17

and she will still maybe like start

27:19

some dance teaching Studio, let's say in

27:21

the town. So she's gonna do something

27:23

else. She's gonna that's what I think

27:25

she'll do with her new career. Okay.

27:27

Yeah, and They're dating they're just gonna

27:30

date and they're gonna make out. All

27:32

right Will they make it What

27:35

do you think? They're pretty bland

27:37

But yeah, sure. I don't know why

27:39

not I would say there's no reason

27:41

why they wouldn't but you might be

27:43

a little bit worried watching them Hang

27:46

out anymore if the movie kept running

27:48

That's true of a lot of rom

27:50

-coms, right? It is very true. These

27:52

are not the most interesting people to

27:54

watch I have to say Like yeah,

27:56

what if every rom -com had a

27:58

movie the same length at the end

28:01

that was just their life with nothing

28:03

happening it probably be Sweet, but boring

28:05

some couples. I feel like I could

28:07

just keep watching and enjoying like what

28:09

I Can't think of them, but I

28:11

know I thought of them I would

28:13

just like I would like to watch

28:16

you guys together and happy like I

28:18

would say a lot of the tea

28:20

couples I would just like to see

28:22

them together and happy like of them

28:24

existing like sort of Luke and Lorelai

28:26

maybe Yeah, I mean like people actually

28:28

being happy and together and not breaking

28:31

up every three minutes. That would be

28:33

really nice, right? Yeah, okay Yeah. So

28:35

you think they'll make it because they're

28:37

both, they're friendly and they're kind of

28:39

bland. They're attractive, friendly. She

28:41

really loves living there. He loves

28:44

living there. He's supportive. She

28:46

wants to probably make a studio. He's a handyman.

28:48

He's helpful. And also they both really

28:50

want to be in the town. Did he come from

28:52

the big city? He came from

28:54

the big city. He did. So I don't know

28:57

why he's so anti -city girl. Like, damn people.

28:59

Okay, next segment. It's

29:03

called ooh versus ew. Yeah, like

29:05

ooh versus ew Yes, and this

29:07

is about the wooing tactics that

29:10

they use to entice the other

29:12

one to seduce or appeal to

29:14

the other one. What you think?

29:17

So things that he does for wooing

29:19

that he's like ooh He helps repair

29:21

things. He gives her a jewelry, which

29:23

is a little weird to give a

29:25

wreath of wreath necklace, little weird, but

29:27

okay, that's nice. He cares about her

29:29

parents. He's literally dancing for free in

29:32

a show to help them. All

29:35

good things. A good thing

29:37

she does to woo him is she helps

29:39

him through a panic attack that he has

29:41

before he starts stripping. You know the usual

29:43

pre -strip panic attack that every guy has

29:46

the first time? Right, we've all been through

29:48

it. Yeah, she helps him. She says, look

29:50

for a friendly face and use that. And

29:52

she is his friendly face. That is why

29:54

he now can't dance without her. That's sweet.

29:57

Yeah. Uh, he comes on a little strong

29:59

in that, like he buys her a necklace pretty early and

30:01

he's like, I'm so happy you've come into my life. That's

30:03

a little ill for me, but I don't know. I guess

30:05

that could be sweet. Okay.

30:08

Sounds good. Does she make an overt move

30:11

on him or is it all him driving

30:13

it? So they have a lot of things

30:15

that bring them together because I think one

30:17

of the things about having a hot handyman

30:19

is they can show up anytime and be

30:21

around for many situations and be very helpful.

30:24

There's a lot of handyman in these movies.

30:26

A lot of handyman because I was like

30:28

what's up with the hot handyman but it's

30:30

very plot convenient so he's like under a

30:32

table overhearing things he's fixing things they're close

30:34

together it conveniently makes them hot so. Did

30:37

they do any grouting together? They

30:39

slow dance they're standing in his

30:41

workshop and he says he hears

30:44

his radio on and he's like

30:46

do you want to dance and

30:48

they dance and they do

30:50

a slow dance. And that is pretty

30:53

hot for wooing. That is very, ooh.

30:55

I mean, in real life, it might be weird if

30:57

a guy's like, do you want to dance in the

31:00

middle of my workshop? But it worked. It worked. It

31:02

was hot. It was hot. And then they kissed. So

31:04

yes, that was working. She shows

31:06

them individually how to dance. Also kind of

31:08

hot. They get close. So, you know, they

31:10

got some wooing is like, I will show

31:13

you to dance. We get all close. There's

31:15

a little dirty dancing to it. Yes. Next

31:18

segment, the story of us. So

31:21

for each of them just regarding

31:23

compatibility of gender. Yeah, what would

31:25

it be like for you to date

31:28

them? I would say

31:30

guy fairly bland, but sure. Let's

31:32

do a weekend fling. That's fine.

31:35

I'm a city girl. He obviously has

31:37

a thing against city girls. So strike

31:39

one against me. Do you think you're

31:41

a city city girl like in these

31:43

movies? Are you always talking on your

31:46

cell phone? Yes. Yes, I'm not gonna

31:48

leave my job. to be in a

31:50

small town, and that makes me evil.

31:52

That makes you, yeah, you're gonna be

31:54

pushed aside by some other country gal.

31:57

Yeah, I like Christmas though, but I'm

31:59

not willing to leap to be like

32:01

a bakery apprentice, so. Okay, what about

32:03

her? Her, she's pretty... Bland

32:05

and and now I would just find her

32:07

slightly annoying. Um, she's nothing too wrong with

32:09

her You could handle one date with her.

32:12

I think yeah, I think you would she'd

32:14

just be like perky happy I think you

32:16

could handle a date with her and you

32:18

know Maybe she teach how to dance. I

32:20

don't know how your dancing skills are but

32:22

she could teach you it might be kind

32:24

of hot when she's teaching you Yeah, it's

32:27

yeah, and then he could fix your stuff

32:29

I mean, that would benefit, you'd have a

32:31

benefit from one day with each of these.

32:33

up now with these characters. Yes. I mean,

32:35

and you could have definitely one date with

32:37

each of these people because they could teach

32:39

how to dance, fix your stuff. That's not

32:42

a bad day. I'm totally up for it.

32:44

Maybe it's not long term, but it's fun.

32:46

Well, it's time for the segment that everyone's

32:48

waiting for, the Endorphin Report. Endorphin

32:52

Report. Endorphin Report. So,

32:58

endorphins, slow dancing together

33:00

when she teaches him. Endorphins.

33:04

Then again, slow dancing

33:06

in his workshop pulls

33:08

her in. They kiss.

33:11

Endorphins. Oh,

33:13

their bits of it are kind of

33:16

fine. When they're talking, things are fine.

33:18

It's nice. It's just kind of very

33:20

minimal, mild, superficial, light dressing on the

33:22

side endorphins. You know, like

33:24

you have some dressing on the side and you

33:27

do a little tap, like a micro tap of

33:29

your salad into the dressing. That's like the minimal

33:31

spike of endorphins I got. Wait, a micro tap

33:33

of your salad? Yes. Yeah.

33:37

What are we talking about? We

33:39

were just talking about instead of

33:41

like major sprinkles throughout other parts

33:43

of the film, micro side salad

33:46

tap of in sprinkles. Women would

33:48

get this. So, so

33:50

yeah, it was fine. It was fine.

33:52

It was very bland film, nothing

33:54

too major, but yes, there were two points of a

33:56

little bit more endorphin. I was not watching anything

33:58

going. This is a total waste

34:00

of my time of watching

34:02

while I'm working out Good.

34:05

Yeah. yeah well thanks for listening

34:07

to this Again, it's kind of

34:09

a episode we're gonna produce

34:11

these as we feel inspired to

34:13

do them but we appreciate

34:15

you listening and commenting boy loading

34:17

ready run fans are sure sweet

34:19

people. They are yeah we're big

34:21

fans I'm so proud of what

34:23

my brother is built in

34:25

this and that it's fun to

34:27

be able to reach people

34:30

through that whether deserved or not

34:32

But thanks for listening all this way

34:34

They are like the best people

34:36

34:38

Yeah, it's a really weirdly incredibly wholesome

34:40

pocket of the internet. I know he

34:42

has given me faith and immunity on

34:44

the internet like kind of hard

34:46

to do right now yeah

34:48

34:51

you later Toodaloodle!
