1:23

friends, vendors and non-benders alike. Welcome

1:25

to Braving the Elements. Nickelodeon's podcast

1:28

about all things Avatarverse. I'm Janet

1:30

Varney. And I'm Dante Bosco. And

1:32

Varney, we have some unfinished business in

1:34

the shape of a boiling rock.

1:36

We do indeed. We do indeed. A

1:38

lot of two-parters this season, my friend.

1:41

A lot of cliffhangers. Yeah, yeah. Including

1:43

what I'm calling the Boiling Rock Collection.

1:46

Boiling Rock Collection. That

1:48

gives it more value. I like it. I like

1:50

it. Exclusive, exclusive. The exclusive Boiling Rock Collection right

1:52

here on Braving the Elements. We've

1:55

also collected our guests from the previous

1:57

book. Yes. Part one.

2:00

And for part two, we have Josh

2:02

Hamilton and Mae Chan. Hello

2:04

everybody. You might know me

2:06

as Joshua Hamilton. You might,

2:08

don't be confused. You

2:10

might also know me as Joshua Hamilton if you're looking

2:12

at the credits. And what's

2:15

that about? What is that about? I don't

2:17

know. Well, I will tell you this. My

2:19

very first credit was on Avatar. Actually, maybe I had one

2:21

before that, but we were trying to pick out the credits

2:23

for Avatar. And who was

2:25

it, Aaron or Tim? They're like, you know,

2:28

you should change your name. Not Josh, not

2:30

Joshua. It should be Josh Hamilton. Joshy? He'll

2:32

be super unique. Come on, do it. Josh

2:34

Hamilton? Yeah, no one calls

2:36

me Josh. Like, absolutely

2:38

not. That was fresh from their brains.

2:42

But it might have stuck out a little

2:44

bit. I could have been Josh.

2:46

What into would have been J-O-S-H-Y? Why,

2:48

yeah. That's what I imagined, yeah. Not IE.

2:51

I think I'm very comfortable with it not being that. Yeah.

2:53

Joshy, they were trolling. I think

2:55

they were trolling. They were trolling.

2:58

It was just Tim and who was trolling. And

3:00

Aaron and probably Aaron. And you know, I imagine

3:02

everyone else joined in. They're like, Joshy. I think

3:04

that's probably fair. No, it's funny, because you guys

3:07

think they were trolling, but I kind of like,

3:09

I think it was- I get it. Like, as

3:11

actors and friends get their act, they join the

3:13

union and they have to commit to a name.

3:16

And there's a lot of conversations. What

3:18

about Joshua? Joshy-win. Just

3:21

like an end, I think. That's it. Joshua

3:23

Hamilton. Josh.

3:26

Joshy-win. Josh. You're

3:28

not sure if it's a weird speech impediment or- Yeah.

3:31

I'm just whispering. My name is Joshy-win. You just

3:33

always hear whispers. Joshy-win. Always hear whispers in

3:35

your- What is it? Joshy-win. Joshy-win. It's

3:37

a misspelling. I like Joshy-win. Make this

3:40

S a Z. Yeah. Exactly.

3:42

Josh with a Z? Exactly. Josh. Just

3:45

Josh, you guys. Joshy-win. That's

3:47

it. It's just Josh. Joshy-wa. I don't know

3:49

why I put that. It's like an official

3:51

form I must have been filling out and

3:53

that's now up there. Yeah. Yeah,

3:56

I have- I definitely have friends who have,

3:58

that you see in the, like, if you

4:00

go on IMDB, it's like- also credited as

4:02

Dave instead of David, you know. Those

4:05

joining us in the podcast and are here for

4:07

the second part, we wanna give you a reminder where

4:09

we left things off in part one. May, will you

4:12

do the honors? May, who wrote the episode, will

4:14

you do the honors? As

4:16

we all know, we left off part

4:18

one with some unfinished business. Since

4:21

Saka and Zuko went to the Boiling

4:23

Rock prison to basically try

4:26

and find Hakoda, Saka's dad,

4:28

and they didn't find him at

4:30

first, but they ended up finding

4:32

Suki instead. So they staged

4:35

a daring escape with the help of

4:37

a prisoner Chit-Sang named after my dad.

4:39

Love it. But arguing, you know,

4:41

they bail out of their plan at the last

4:43

minute when they find that a

4:45

new batch of prisoners are headed to

4:47

the Boiling Rock. And it's

4:50

kind of a tough choice, but it's the right one,

4:53

because it turns out that Hakoda

4:55

is among them. And

4:57

now they found Saka's

4:59

dad, and they need a new plan to

5:02

get the heck out of there. Escape the Boiling

5:04

Rock. Yeah, and it seems like they're onto something

5:07

when they settle on this kind of classic prison

5:09

riot scheme. But there are definitely

5:11

some developments that they did not plan on, most

5:13

notably a certain character who

5:16

was just a certain someone's ex-girlfriend.

5:18

Certainly, that's gonna be a surprise. And

5:21

then a certain someone's sister and a certain

5:23

someone's sister's friend. Now listen, I know that's

5:25

very vague. Even I'm confused.

5:28

Whoa. I lost track as I

5:30

was saying. A certain someone's ex-girlfriend,

5:32

a certain someone's sister, a certain someone's sister's

5:34

friend. Okay, so we all either do or

5:36

don't know who I'm talking about, but the

5:38

good news is we're gonna get there very

5:40

soon anyway. This episode was written by Joshua

5:42

Hamilton and was directed by- It's

5:44

a hard end. Yeah, it's a hard end, and our

5:46

friend Ethan Spalding. Yes, so

5:48

we begin the episode with some sort of

5:50

prisoner lineup on Boiling Rock as the warden

5:53

welcomes the new convicts to the island. He's

5:55

paying special attention to Hakoda, and at least

5:57

Hakoda managed to trip the war- with his

5:59

handcuffs, Hakota's a... Gotta get in those little

6:01

wins when you can. Trip him with your

6:03

handcuffs. You know, which makes Saka kinda proud,

6:05

like my dad. Yeah, my dad's a huff.

6:07

Your cut from the same cloth. My dad's

6:09

a real one. Yeah. Yeah.

6:12

Yeah. Yeah. Mm. And

6:15

now speaking of the man himself, Saka, Saka

6:17

heads to Hakota's cell to reveal himself, and

6:19

the two reunite. Meanwhile, the warden

6:21

grills Chit-Sang to find out who actually planned the

6:23

escape in the cooler, because he definitely is like,

6:26

you didn't do it. This is bad. We know

6:28

you didn't do it. He's a big dummy. I

6:30

know. So Saka finds out that

6:32

the rest of Hakota's group is in a

6:34

prison near the Fire Nation Palace, along with

6:36

the other Kyoshi warriors. Yeah, there you go.

6:39

Now it's time for Saka and Hakota to

6:41

come up with a brilliant new escape plan.

6:43

He says that, you know, this prison can't

6:45

hold two water-tread

6:48

geniuses. Oh, yeah. Water-tread geniuses.

6:50

They know they're geniuses. That's

6:52

right. Oh. That's right. I

6:54

mean, I guess we all kinda felt like Saka

6:56

was a genius, but he guess he is. I

6:58

mean, he's a genius. I'm sure there's

7:00

tons of statues erected to Saka all over the

7:02

water travel. Wasn't it like, though, that he didn't,

7:04

the dad made a joke about the two geniuses

7:06

and Saka didn't quite get it. Yeah. Oh,

7:09

yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh, I guess we're gonna have to find

7:11

a couple of them. They're both geniuses. Yeah. Wah,

7:14

wah. He's just humble. Oh, you're just. Uh-huh, yep.

7:16

Yeah, he's humble. Later, Saka pretends to beat Zuko

7:18

up while he reveals a new plan when they

7:20

have to meet the prison yard in an hour.

7:23

But the other guards have orders to take

7:26

Zuko somewhere else, and that somewhere else turns

7:29

out to be to see Mei. There's

7:31

Mei. She called the mid interrogation. That

7:33

was like when she showed up, you

7:35

were like, what? I mean, we've

7:38

all maybe bumped into an X when we

7:40

didn't necessarily expect to see them. I don't

7:42

think a prison in the middle of nowhere.

7:44

And she was hot. Even knowing you're not

7:46

looking your best, that's when you run into

7:48

them. Oh, my God, I was like, I

7:50

was just talking about you and my homie,

7:52

Saka, in a balloon. I like that a

7:54

relative is kind of forcing this situation to

7:56

like, hey, Zuko, come

7:58

over here. There's someone you need to

8:01

see. Why is Uncle Warden just all

8:03

of everybody's business? Uncle Warden, why you gotta

8:05

be in everybody's business, Uncle Warden? It's what

8:07

he does. Can you let it be? Uncle

8:10

Warden's getting in. Work it out, guys. Work

8:12

it out. He's like, I'm the Warden of

8:14

this prison and I'm the Warden of this family.

8:16

If I want you to be in a cell

8:18

together. I'm not gonna tell the Fire Lord, but

8:21

I'm gonna tell your aunt. Yeah. I'm gonna tell

8:23

your mom about what's going on. But we don't

8:25

even see those ladies gossip. What the heck? Oh,

8:27

they gossip. They gossip. Uncle Warden's all about

8:30

the gossip. Yeah. So we don't even

8:32

know how that goes because now we're back

8:34

with Uncle Warden and Chit Sing. And if

8:36

you're wondering if Chit Sing, he did

8:39

get it. That's like when you read on somewhere. Oh. Did

8:42

they sing? I know. I was still

8:45

some type of way. I was still some type

8:47

of way about Chit Sing. And that's the end

8:49

of the episode. See you guys later. We're out.

8:52

Yeah, so he definitely rats out his accomplice.

8:54

He tells Warden that one of the guards

8:56

was the mastermind. So we think he's ratting

8:58

him out. I was feeling really some

9:01

type of way about Chit Sing ratting people out.

9:03

How dare he? Come on. Give him a chance

9:05

because you could stay mad at him for now.

9:08

But did he rat him out? Because he didn't say, he

9:10

was just like, oh, one of the guards is

9:12

the mastermind. You've got a traitor

9:15

in your midst, whatever. So the Warden knows that

9:17

there is that traitor, but does he know who?

9:20

They come back to Zuko and Mei,

9:22

who is confronting him about the goodbye

9:24

letter, like breaking up with someone in

9:27

a text. I mean, not great when

9:29

he disappears. This is the deal. This

9:32

is the deal. Explain yourself. When you're out

9:34

to get the world back in balance, like

9:37

the relationship has to take a backseat in that moment.

9:39

In that moment, in the bigger picture of things, I

9:41

don't mean to hurt your feelings. I'm trying to get

9:44

the word balanced right now. Yeah. Okay.

9:47

I'm going to take your side on this one. There you

9:49

go. Thank you. But what about the letter, though? I'm the

9:51

letter. This is what I was saying. You

9:53

said all of that beautifully. You said it out loud. You could

9:55

have said it out loud to her. I don't know. I said

9:57

it out loud. She was busy with her friends. Do

10:00

you want to bother her? I couldn't

10:02

find her. They

10:04

were shopping. I can't tell if

10:06

she's going to tell my sister and there's going to be a whole big

10:09

thing. Well that's a good excuse. I

10:11

buy that. He needed to buy time for himself

10:13

because she was going to find out. And I had

10:15

this one moment because I had to go chase him really quick on

10:17

that balloon. I had to go chase him really quick. I

10:20

had to go chase him really quick. You didn't have time

10:22

to get your time to write a letter. Because they were

10:24

leaving and I had to do a quick letter because I

10:26

saw them air-bikes going. And I jumped on the balloon and

10:28

I got to go. You had time to find a scroll.

10:31

You've convinced me? You've convinced me that he couldn't

10:34

wake her up to tell because then maybe he

10:36

would find out. Because of the bison. I

10:39

see them right there. The

10:41

point is, it's not about Mae. But I got

10:43

love for you Mae. He's got love

10:45

for her. Let's check in

10:47

with a different sort of couple for a sec as we see Sokka

10:49

come into Suki's cell to give her the latest deeds. It's

10:52

a plan to commandeer the gondola or

10:54

gondola and escape. And if they don't

10:56

have to do that, they are going

10:58

to have to start a prison riot.

11:00

Suki is a little skeptical about all

11:02

of this but Sokka is leaving and

11:05

right away he's summoned by the warden. And

11:07

he's added to this line up of guards as

11:10

Chit-Seng is told. Okay, you said that there was

11:12

a traitor in my midst. Which one of these

11:14

guards is responsible? But

11:16

good old Chit-Seng. Perfect

11:18

opportunity. He's not going to

11:20

betray the one who is willing to get him

11:22

and his best guy and his best girl out.

11:25

He's going to get revenge on the jerk, on

11:27

the bully, on the prisoner bully. What a redemption.

11:29

That's a tight redemption arc for Chit-Seng. You know

11:31

what? He gets there. Shout out to Mae's dad.

11:33

Shout out to Mae's dad. Shout out to Mae's

11:35

dad. I would feel

11:37

some way with saying he's like,

11:39

it's wonderful. Revenge

11:41

is just too sweet though. Good work. That

11:43

jerk gets him. And it's a great work.

11:45

They're all going to deny it. It's a

11:48

perfect situation. It's great. It's great. It's payback.

11:50

It's great. Avatar

12:57

Josh, what happens next? So from there,

12:59

the warden takes the guard into a

13:01

cell to be further interrogated. This poor

13:03

guy who really didn't do anything wrong.

13:05

He was a jerk! Except

13:08

mishandle some guards, I was

13:10

gonna say. Karma. Karma,

13:13

my friend. That's his, that's literally

13:15

his job. Anyway, but

13:18

he's interrupted by the character in the

13:20

show who is consistent, who consistently knows

13:22

how to make the most dramatic entrance

13:24

of all, and that is frickin

13:26

Azula. Yeah. What?

13:29

That was like my mind was

13:31

blown. What's Azula doing here? Kinda

13:33

got... She knows that the

13:35

show is packed with, oh

13:38

my god, it's Azula. Like, she makes an entrance.

13:40

And she also kind of knows what's going on

13:42

before anybody else is going on. She always knows

13:44

what's going on. That's exactly what happens here. She

13:47

immediately dismisses the idea that Chit-Sang

13:50

could be a part of the escape plan at all. She's like, this

13:52

dude, isn't it? And the guard, nope, not that

13:54

guy. Then from there, we're gonna stop. She had the best

13:56

lunch, she goes, how do you know? She goes, I'm a

13:58

people person. Yeah. You're wasting your

14:00

time. That's not one of them. How

14:04

do you know? Because I'm a people person.

14:09

Are you serious right now? I know. Well

14:11

that's how she took the throne. A zulip's last birthday.

14:14

I took serious right now. You were never

14:16

a play-at-lan, right? You were never a play-at-lan.

14:18

See, I was saying Azula's the first one.

14:20

But she gets a little come up in two.

14:22

I don't want to like, but she's not

14:24

really a people person. Something happens at the

14:26

end of the episode. That's more of a

14:28

tea-out. Yeah, yeah. Four-shot-out report. It's a tea-out.

14:30

I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. I forgot

14:32

that no one has seen this episode. You're

14:35

safe. Okay. Moving on. You're

14:37

definitely safe. Then from there we

14:39

go to Sako who's working on getting all of

14:41

the prisoners released into the yard. When Suki, Hakoda,

14:43

and Sako have met up, the

14:46

next step is to start your friendly neighborhood prison

14:48

riot. Yeah. Yeah. Gotta have a prison riot. Just

14:50

the man for the job. Yes.

14:53

I've never been to prison, but I've gotta have

14:55

at least one riot. Are there a lot of

14:57

prison riots? Yeah. Gotta have a prison riot. That's

14:59

one point. Oh, this was kind of like something

15:02

I do remember. Like this was my,

15:04

I think it was, we were doing the outline. We

15:06

just did all the cards on the board and

15:08

it was like, prison riot was a card. Like

15:11

start the prison riot. And there was no one

15:13

pitched how or what. And so I'm like, I

15:15

just wrote, like just saying goes out there and

15:17

it's like, hey everybody, riot! And then everyone just

15:19

riots. And I thought for sure this would be

15:21

like a note that someone, no, they gotta punch

15:23

somebody. And they're like, we love it.

15:25

It's perfect. It's funny. Because everybody knows. Everybody

15:27

knows. Like, oh right. You know Chit Sing saying

15:30

it. Yeah. Let's do it. From

15:32

there, Zuko takes his chance to escape when

15:34

one of the guards comes to escort Mei

15:36

and locks her into the cell so that

15:38

she can't follow. Oh my

15:40

God. Hearts broken. She can't

15:43

even follow. You know, just get

15:45

off my, get off. Can you just give me some

15:47

space? Why don't you bring me

15:49

here? I'm hunting me. Just sit tight. Exes are hunting

15:52

us. Yeah, that's true. Come

15:54

on, John. Exes are hunting us. I know. Yeah. I

15:56

know you've been there. Not

15:59

me. Something tells me you'll be glad

16:01

that she was there. Something, I can't put my

16:03

finger on what, tells me you will be glad

16:05

that May was there. That's true. We'll see,

16:07

we'll see. Before the end. So Zuko reunites with Sokka

16:09

and they start bickering about how they're gonna get to

16:11

the warden and get to the gondolas. How are they

16:13

gonna do this? Who knows? But

16:15

Suki being the absolute best is

16:18

already on it. She literally parkours

16:20

across prisoners' heads, end up a

16:22

wall, capturing the warden within a

16:25

few seconds. Suki, MVP.

16:27

Oh my god, it's such a great moment.

16:30

Very impressive. Y'all just keep bickering.

16:33

I'm gonna go ahead and do this. And what's funny is, like

16:36

an old married couple, Sokka, let's just go by this point, are

16:38

an old married couple. Well because we're trying to figure out the

16:40

problem to do. She's doing it very,

16:42

it's very impressive. And what's funny is when the rest

16:44

of the crew gets them, they're huffing and puffing. Yeah, I

16:46

did it, I love that. Yeah. Suki.

16:49

Who's a good to think? That was hilarious.

16:51

Oh, she's the best. She's the best. So

16:54

then, so after Suki, it's just MVP, Chit-Sang,

16:58

Hakoda, Suki, Sokka, and Zuko, well that's

17:00

a lot of people. They

17:02

make it to the gondolas with

17:04

the warden as their hostage.

17:06

Oh man, the drama. That's how you gotta

17:08

take a hostage. You gotta take a hostage. What did

17:10

he say earlier? He's like, I would rather die than

17:13

have someone escape. Yes, I mean. We don't know.

17:15

We don't know. You gotta feed it for all

17:17

time. You don't know. Which

17:19

is what we had to say because they wouldn't

17:21

let us say die or kill. He's gonna feed

17:24

for all time. Got it, feed him all the

17:26

time, got it. So Zuko sets the gondolin motion

17:28

and breaks the lever so the guards can't reverse

17:30

its direction. Good thinking, Zuko.

17:32

Good thinking. Smart. Good thinking.

17:34

And then soars through the air to join

17:36

the rest of the team but Azula

17:39

and Tylee aren't worried because Tylee runs

17:41

across the cables like it's tight ropes

17:43

and Azula rocket blasts herself to the

17:45

cables and zip lines which is pretty

17:48

cool. What's up with that rocket blast

17:50

act? The lady fighting in this is

17:52

insanely awesome. Did you go, how

17:55

is she just rocket firing with the planes?

17:57

I know, I know. What's going on? All

17:59

of a sudden. This is this the first time

18:01

is that the first I love it I

18:04

think it might be the first time

18:06

yeah, yeah, yeah, she's been honing it

18:08

I know when she's angry when she's

18:10

really pissed I mean more shadow foreshadow

18:12

to Cora with a general

18:15

hour the second doing some fire blast

18:19

I think it kind of might have originated

18:22

with Azula doing absolutely yeah, yeah,

18:24

but it's her blue It's

18:26

impressive Really

18:29

mad sickens my turn blue No,

18:32

but I love it because I feel like you were like alright

18:34

We got these gondolas again we get into this kind of James

18:36

Bond mess of it all But we have

18:39

these characters and you know exactly what you

18:41

do like you're like yeah Well, we got

18:43

to take advantage of the fact that Tylee

18:45

was in his circus Yeah, she's just like

18:47

no big deal the run with the arms

18:52

Yeah, you got a good action scene needs

18:54

like a Batman Nailed

18:59

it you nailed it nailed. Yeah, it's

19:01

basically how do we do the avatar version of

19:03

this yeah? Yeah, and now you got this everybody's

19:06

there. You got the conflict midair. Just like he

19:08

wanted yep, so then where was I?

19:11

uh Everybody faces off in

19:13

the gondola midair It's like Nana

19:16

was saying the warden breaks free during the

19:18

fight and screams for the guards cut the

19:20

line So the gondola that's

19:22

crazy. Yeah The

19:27

gondola comes to a screeching halt and

19:29

everyone realizes what's happening Cut

19:33

the line He wants us to

19:36

cut the line, but if we cut the

19:38

line. There's no way he'll survive He

19:40

knows that Which

19:42

is they're all gonna die This might

19:45

be a good time to remind everyone

19:47

that they are they could potentially die

19:49

because yeah It's not just regular water

19:52

underneath them. It's the boiling rock yep,

19:54

so it yeah oil like chicken So

19:59

a Zula and Tylee, they jump

20:01

onto the gondola heading the other

20:03

direction. Yeah. Which is an

20:05

awesome shot. Oh, that's great. Oh my god.

20:07

The one is kind of lower and the

20:10

other is going up. It's like, yeah. Yeah,

20:12

indeed. Yeah, smart. So good. And the team

20:14

waits, but the rest of the team wait

20:16

to meet their fate of being boiled. Chicken.

20:19

But someone steps in. What

20:26

are you doing? Saving

20:28

the jerk who dumped me. And

20:33

she takes on all of the

20:35

guards with just her wits, skills,

20:37

and knives. Wow. Yes.

20:40

Yes. Non-bending, by the way. Yes.

20:42

No, it's a great scene. Great,

20:44

great moment. And she sets

20:47

the gondola safely back towards the other

20:49

side of the island, saving Zuko and

20:51

his new allies. And Azula didn't

20:53

see it coming. Oh, she is. She thinks she knows

20:55

people. Smart. A Zuul person, not

20:57

so much. I mean, not so much. It's

21:00

nice to know that the ex has a

21:02

little love for you. Yeah. I mean, I

21:04

love it. She's crazy, but she's crazy for

21:06

me. She's like, right. Yeah. I mean, that's-

21:08

She sighs a lot. This whole

21:11

fighting scene, I know your specialties and

21:13

action, this whole action scene is just

21:15

top notch. Killer. Amazing. And even the

21:17

setup when Azula

21:19

and Tylee are

21:21

coming and Suki and Zuko are like,

21:24

hey, I've been waiting for this

21:26

rematch. And then the fight, like, Sokka with

21:28

his sword. Sokka with his sword. Yeah. Yeah.

21:30

And they're trying to battle. It was just,

21:32

it's such a great kind of back and

21:34

forth. And then, of course, when they dismount

21:36

to the other gondola. Yes.

21:40

Beautiful shot. Beautiful shot. Are

21:43

you looking to level up your vacation

21:45

experience? Want the luxury of a natural

21:48

hot spring mixed with the discipline of

21:50

a great boot camp? Then look no

21:52

further than Boiling Rock Getaways. From its

21:54

minimalist design to its soaring skyway, spacious

21:57

courtyard, friendly staff, and group activities, you'll

21:59

never want to- to go home and

22:01

you may not be able to boiling

22:03

rock getaways will tell you when you're

22:05

done vacationing safely

22:08

on the other side they ditched the warden

22:10

and raced to seal azula's blimp that's where

22:12

she drove in on this is perfect that's

22:14

how they can get away because they lost

22:16

theirs i don't know if you guys remember

22:18

that was right something something magically manifested he

22:20

didn't know how they were gonna get off

22:22

but there you go you're right meanwhile azula

22:25

confronts may the person who just she just

22:27

turned her back on azula one of her

22:29

best friends maybe yeah well

22:31

friend of me she says why would she

22:33

betray azula when she knows what that means

22:35

for her own safety so

22:37

azula prepares to attack may and

22:39

this is really bad right i

22:41

mean may's an amazing fighter but

22:44

against azula's fire bending no way

22:46

no yeah but before azula can

22:48

muster a spark tyley she blocks

22:50

her oh it's like people are

22:52

switching sides left and right tightly

22:55

for the win you guys flying sighted

22:57

this is the collapse i mean this

22:59

is the beginning of the end yeah

23:01

you're right absolutely you're right it's when

23:03

all your friends turn surprise other people

23:06

are here when all your friends turn

23:08

on you it's not it's you gotta

23:10

start looking into work and she was

23:12

probably thinking that when she collapsed onto

23:14

the ground yeah i mean it's kind

23:16

of crazy to see her so vulnerable

23:19

oh true but the guards kind of

23:21

surround me entirely of course and azula

23:23

orders the guards to lock may entirely

23:25

up forever and ever and i

23:27

think that's the last time we ever see them

23:29

yeah pretty much it's

23:31

the last time we see them together ever the batty girl game

23:35

the batty girl game is dismantled yeah

23:38

but that line there was the kiyoshi

23:40

warrior that's right josh a very very

23:42

big line i hear a lot within

23:44

the fandom um i love

23:46

you i love i love zuko more

23:48

than i'm afraid of you i'm afraid

23:50

of you yeah you should fear me

23:53

more yeah hey you know love conquers

23:55

all oof azula yeah it's him the

23:57

ex the ex-girl be riding for zuko

23:59

hard huh And then Tylee... Tylee

24:02

was nervous too, she was nervous! She was for

24:04

her friendship, she had to choose. A lot of

24:06

things are getting mixed up in this episode. Yeah!

24:10

It's great. We

24:12

never mind ourselves, especially with Tylee, she was forced into this

24:14

friendship. I mean, like, forced... Totally. She

24:18

was bullied into this whole adventure. She

24:20

was looking for a way out sooner or later. So,

24:23

the game's back together at the Western

24:26

Air Temple, thanks to Azula's blimp. Hakod

24:28

is reunited with Katara, everyone's thrilled to

24:30

see Suki, and random old Chit-Sang! There

24:33

he is! I'm

24:35

here too! I'm here

24:37

too! Hey

24:39

everybody! Oh, you're still

24:41

here, cool. Now they have to explain

24:43

how they ended up at the Fire Nation prison, and they didn't

24:45

bring any meat home. Well,

24:48

they said they were going to go out and get some food. I

24:50

know. It was all

24:52

in a day's work, and that's the end

24:55

of the episode! Yes, friends! What

24:57

a two-part-er! Part one

24:59

and part two. Part one and part two

25:01

was thrilling. I mean, there's so many characters

25:03

to bring Azula back. Oh man,

25:06

and Tylee. I mean, one

25:08

of the most pivotal parts of the entire show,

25:10

you just slip in right at the end of

25:12

this episode. It's like, all this happens, all this

25:15

happens, that's all enough, it's all amazing. And

25:17

by the way, Mae and Tylee are no longer out. Yeah,

25:19

was they out playing into the whole thing? That's huge! I'm

25:23

trying to remember what number this is in the series. Honestly, is

25:25

it like 3-10 or 3-12 or something? Great

25:29

question. It feels like we're getting

25:32

towards it. We know we're getting towards it. We're getting towards

25:34

it. We're getting into Act 3. Yeah, moving towards that. All

25:37

these pieces need to move into place. When I

25:39

was watching this episode, I was like, wow, there's so much here.

25:42

That's like, a koniguya. Suki gets

25:44

out, she's back, he's back, and then Tylee and Mae

25:46

leave. So yeah, we're now mixing things up. This

25:49

is building towards that finale. That's so

25:51

good. And it makes you, you do have that moment wondering,

25:53

like, what does this mean long-term

25:55

for Mae and Tylee? Does

25:57

this mean in this moment we do you this so?

26:00

Zuko and rest of team Avatar, such

26:03

as it is, or is this

26:05

like, are they gonna come over and be friends now? Like,

26:08

where did they fall in the grand scheme

26:10

of things, not just this one moment, because

26:12

we have seen Zuko and Aang before season

26:14

three, before all this. We saw them look

26:17

out for each other, but

26:19

it didn't mean like, I guess we're all on

26:21

the same team now. But also we saw them

26:23

as teenagers on the beach and we saw that

26:25

they weren't just villainous people. Yeah. They

26:28

were like kids. They're just like Zuko,

26:30

like you're just, they're

26:32

just kids in this wartime era

26:35

saying which side, and even like May

26:37

early in the episode was like, why did you

26:39

betray your whole nation? He's like, I'm trying to

26:41

save, you know, they're having this weird turmoil with

26:43

themselves too, which I think that

26:46

definitely is the stuff going into my

26:48

mind. Yeah, everyone has their, you know, they

26:50

do it for a reason, it's not the big picture

26:52

reason. Right. It's for a real personal reason. Yeah, totally.

26:55

You know, like May does it for Zuko. But

26:57

the big picture does see it. Doesn't necessarily care

26:59

about the group or the gang. And

27:01

then entirely does it for May. And so the

27:04

reasons they do it is even

27:06

better than like, oh, it's for the save the world. Now it's

27:08

not that. Yeah. It's like this personal

27:10

thing. Yes. Yeah, I really like that. Yes. Yeah.

27:13

Yeah. This

27:17

episode is brought to you by

Dragon Ball Legends for free on

28:12

28:20

love that. It's so true. It's very powerful.

28:22

It's very powerful. It's leading to even more

28:24

happening as you're right as we approach this

28:27

kind of end game. May, correct

28:29

me if I'm wrong. Now last

28:31

episode, you had a very special,

28:33

there was a guest appearance from

28:35

the sound of a badger frog.

28:38

Can you tell me that there are any animals in this one at all?

28:41

Sound, sight, mention or otherwise, I feel like there aren't

28:43

any. I don't think so. I think it's animal free.

28:45

Is there one at the end? It's a rare animal

28:48

free. When they get back? I don't

28:50

think so. I mean, animal free, episode, bully. In fact, I'll

28:52

tell you what. Josh, Josh, you know? I don't

28:54

think so. I don't know. I don't know the

28:56

answer. Obviously, we're not counting Momo or Appa. I

28:59

don't think Dee is credited in this one. This might

29:01

be one where it's like the only, I'm trying

29:04

to think, it's either this one or the first one. It's

29:07

the only time that Dee is not credited. I feel like if we had known

29:09

that, we would have put an animal. I know we would

29:11

have put an animal. For sure. Had we known

29:13

that years later, how could you not know?

29:17

How could you not know? How could we not

29:19

have an animal? He's missing a residual check for

29:21

this particular episode. He's like, I don't know how to

29:23

do that in this episode. That's right. That's

29:26

exactly right. That's exactly right. Oh, that's

29:28

right. It is. It's the

29:30

only episode of the entire series that Dee Bradley

29:32

Baker does not appear in some other. Amazingly sad.

29:34

So there we go. Sorry. Why are you

29:36

here? Why are you so... He knows. He

29:39

knows. We love you, Dee. Okay. And

29:42

let's talk about most valuable bending and non-bending. And

29:44

that's the other thing. Really quick, I just want

29:46

to say before we get into that, did

29:48

you know this is the only

29:50

episode of the series where there's only

29:52

one type of bending. We

29:55

see one type this entire episode. Fire only

29:57

fire? Nothing else. It's all fire all

29:59

the time. I mean, it's all good. It's pretty unique.

30:01

We're in Fire Nation. For the show, yeah. Yeah,

30:03

and a Fire Nation prison. Yeah. Chef

30:05

is fire. Fun facts. Fire benders also fun. So I

30:07

guess, my guess is, based on that, really

30:10

basic knowledge is that, whoever

30:12

has the most valuable bending is probably gonna be fire bending. Yes. Yeah.

30:16

It's definitely fire bending. Which moment of fire bending?

30:18

Yeah, what is the most valuable? Again, not a

30:20

ton. There was a lot of

30:22

great non-bending. I mean, like so much. We

30:26

know the great non-bending moment, right?

30:29

Wait, which one do you? Which one are you saying?

30:32

Yeah, because I'm thinking some. I'm

30:34

thinking Suki. Okay, here's what I'm gonna say.

30:36

Yeah, that's also a great one. Unprecedented move

30:38

on the show. We

30:40

seed over the most valuable bending

30:43

to make room for two most

30:45

valuable non-bending. So we throw away

30:47

the most valuable bending for this

30:49

episode and just give ourselves two

30:52

opportunities to reward most valuable non-bending,

30:54

because there's so much in this

30:56

episode. Thank you. Let's

30:59

just throw that out. She's out of there. Anything Azula's

31:01

doing, she's out of there. She's showing off in the

31:03

fire. Of course, it's cool. Whatever, whatever. We don't care

31:05

about the Azula. Dante, it's like you have a personal

31:07

beef against it. Oh, he does, he does. It just

31:09

seems like it. I don't know. It's the most valuable

31:11

get out of here. She's gone. She's already won most

31:14

valuable bending more than I would have known. We don't

31:16

care. We don't care. We got Suki as a contender.

31:18

We got Mae as a contender. We certainly have Ty

31:20

Lee as a contender. Yeah. What

31:22

do we do? We have two spots. That's true. I'm

31:26

trying to think of who saves them, but they

31:28

all do. Mae. Well,

31:30

they all take turns. Cause Suki does. She

31:33

saves them first. And then Mae saves them.

31:35

And then Ty Lee saves her. I think

31:37

maybe we give it to the two, I

31:39

think we give it to Suki and Mae

31:42

cause we could never have got to the Ty Lee

31:44

point. Ty without the two of them. We don't know

31:47

what's going on, Ty Lee. She did save, she saved

31:49

Mae for sure. Cause Mae is about to

31:51

catch some lightning. Where's our team?

31:53

Did they get across at this point? When

31:55

this like was happening? Yeah, they got across.

31:57

Okay, they did get across. Okay. Suki

31:59

just looked good. Zuko looked at the Zacks like,

32:01

hey, good luck. Gotta go. Good luck with the

32:04

Zuma. Good luck with my sister. Tell her her

32:06

stuff. Oh, damn. A lot of

32:08

pops for me. I'm

32:10

going to vote for Tylee's because hers

32:12

really kind of comes out of like,

32:14

wow, she picked the side. Whereas Suki,

32:16

you know what she's going to do.

32:19

You kind of know what she's going to do.

32:21

You know, Mae picked the side. I know, but

32:23

it's, yeah. Mae picked the side. Whereas Tylee, wow,

32:25

she really, between the two girls. Yeah, no. Tylee

32:28

wants to hug me. Yeah, it's way tough. This

32:30

is really tough. Tylee can't really swing me. You

32:32

are swaying me. But she also did like right,

32:34

it might have been instinctual because she was like

32:36

about to see something real bad

32:38

happen right in front of her. Oh,

32:41

just like. She's here swaying me. As opposed to

32:43

thinking of like, Mae is like, I'm going to

32:45

do this whole

32:47

thing and kind of like mess up my whole

32:49

life how it's going. Where Tylee could have been

32:51

like in reaction in the moment. Oh, like, you

32:53

know what I'm saying? Like, it's not premeditated. Yeah,

32:55

it's not premeditated. It's kind of just happened. Yeah,

32:57

yeah. That's a good argument too. Here's

33:00

what this is how big of a dork I am.

33:02

In my mind, I thought to myself, would

33:05

Suki want to hold that honor for

33:07

herself or would she say you should

33:09

give it to Tylee for saving her

33:11

friend? And in my mind, I was like, oh,

33:13

Suki would. Suki would be like, I was

33:15

just doing my job. But Tylee

33:17

surprised us all by saving Mae. Yeah.

33:19

So I, you and

33:22

the Suki in my head

33:24

is saying that it's Mae and Tylee for

33:26

my votes. I love that.

33:28

I'm going Tylee. Shout out to Suki. You're

33:30

like next level. I'm easily swayed. I think what

33:32

I'm saying, when you say you're next level, what

33:35

you mean is you're not well. And I agree

33:37

with you. Because I have clearly all

33:39

the avatar characters in my head. You didn't say like,

33:41

is it a level up or a level? I said

33:43

next level. Just say, yeah. You say, yeah. Yeah, exactly.

33:45

Yeah, Suki's just doing her job. I mean,

33:47

she's a super agent. Yeah, kind of. That's what she would

33:49

say, I think. There could be, if she doesn't do it,

33:51

probably they can get the award in any way. But maybe,

33:54

I don't know. But I love it. I love

33:56

it. They're going to get to it. The guys are going to get

33:58

to it. All right. We're going to pick her up. I

34:00

don't know if they want to. It might not have been that

34:02

day. I just think she would say. Between

34:06

Sokka and Zuko we're gonna get

34:08

the warden. No. She

34:10

would say I was just doing my job. I'm sticking to it.

34:14

But that doesn't mean that she doesn't deserve it.

34:16

It just means I'm honoring her even more by

34:18

saying. It was quite impressive. I

34:20

like that we just gave up on May though

34:23

who actually does say no. She got it too.

34:25

No, May's established. May's

34:27

established. May's established. It's the other spot. She's

34:29

got it. It's the other spot. This is

34:31

the other thing. May saved a lot of

34:33

lives. She did. Ty Lee saved

34:35

one life. Oh,

34:37

this is a numbers. Oh. So

34:40

you're bringing Suki back into it. That's always

34:42

Suki. I mean Suki. I

34:44

don't know. It's complex. We can't exactly.

34:47

It's not gonna determine. It's complex. It's

34:49

complex. All right. So

34:52

y'all can go and do the rest of your lives. We will

34:54

be here talking about this. This

34:56

is the kind of passion that

34:58

the Avatar universe inspires in people.

35:01

So let's celebrate it. Great,

35:04

great two episodes. Thank you guys so much for being with

35:06

us. Such an honor to have the writers here with us.

35:08

We can actually ask a question. It was an honor to

35:10

be here. Yeah. Thank you.

35:12

What a treat. We found out

35:14

a bunch of inside scoop. So wonderful. You

35:16

make us look so much better because we

35:19

bring you on and then you do have

35:21

these amazing stories of like remembering ideas and

35:23

writing your family members in. Phenomenal. Wonderful. So

35:26

yeah, thanks for making us look better. And

35:29

the Suki in my head says. Oh man.

35:32

See you next week is what Suki would say.

35:36

And the Suki in my head is that's the meme. And

35:38

the Suki in my head. Yeah. Yeah.

35:42

All right. Thanks everybody. Thank

35:44

you guys. Thank you. All
