Captivating, worth listening to. Just not recommended for evening runs in an RV park near the woods
What a wild ride! This is an enjoyable podcast that takes you all across the US and spans multiple decades of craziness.
Just amazing journalism!
This is a very interesting, well thought-out and researched podcast. I went into this not knowing a single thing about the Bear Brook murders and found it to be an incredibly complex story, spanning the width of the US. It's devastating that this happened & was left unsolved for so many decades, but the host and producers approached the subject in a sensitive way. A must-listen if you enjoy 'Serialised' True Crime podcasts.
Bear Brook is a well-produced podcast with a compelling story, photos online to accompany the storyline, narration that keeps you on the edge of your seat, and leaves you with a new understanding of criminal forensics. Highly recommend.UPDATE 7/23/23This is one of the few podcasts where Season 2 lived up to Season 1. Powerful themes of narrative and truth, acknowledgment of numerous perspectives, and overall very well thought out.
One of the best true crime podcasts that I have listened too. It is a fascinating story that not only delves into the complexities and unknowns of a murder case, but also dives into the techniques used to apprehend former / future criminals. Since this podcast is concrete in what happens as well, it does not fall into some of the problematic true crime aspects that other pods like Serial do. I believe this is a fantastic pod that any podcaster (true crime enthusiast or not) should listen to.
Really enjoyed this series, despite the topic being really quite gruesome. Story was respectfully told without sensationalism, and it was compelling to listen to the next episode along in the case.
Great podcast that discusses a murder that turns into more murders that all end up involving the same guy who messes with people's minds while many questions take years for answers.
I've listened to this podcast over 20 times. Truly a passion project and it comes through. I want to know more and at the same time, I learned so much listening. Absolutely the best
Incredibly fascinating story very well told.
Very interesting story with lots of twists and turns. My heart aches for the victims and their families. At times it was a bit difficult to follow because the correlation between the different stories wasn't apparent but all was explained and wrapped up by the conclusion. I would definitely like to hear more from this podcast team!
This is a very well made and compelling investigation into an old case that was believed unsolvable. When the right people, people with stellar investigative skills became involved, guess what. Totally solvable. Just needed the right people, the right communication and enough resources. Absolutely fascinating to witness the wonderful and creative investigation of a few brilliant and doggedly persistent journalists and law men and women. Don't miss it if True Crime and Justice are your areas of interest.
We listened to this, rated it on a scale of wine glasses, and discussed all things 'glitter eyed' murderer!!! If you listened to this go listen to our podcast and see if you agree with us!!! It's fun to listen and discuss!!! ps we love this podcast! -Upper Balcony Podcast
Pretty run of the mill for true crime. Interesting enough, but wasn't always into it and the host's presentation.
There is a lot of true crime out there in the podlands, but this one is quite unique because the case lead to a major advancement in forensic investigation. Excellent series, terrific host.
A fascinating listen about a cold case. Not full of blood and guts but with some twists and nuance. Should have gotten more attention then it did when first released.
Really engaging, chilling and well researched show. I like that I get so much information about how the police and many others have tried to solve this cold case, including a lot of new stuff about how DNA is used (and maybe can be abused). If you like true crime, this is a must-listen.
An interesting podcast with many twists & turns. If you enjoyed podcasts like Dirty John & The Lady Vanishes then I think you'll enjoy this too.
I'm not much of a True Crime guy, but with this happening in my home state and the quality of Jason Moon's reporting/production I was sucked into listening to the entire podcast in under a week. And then the last episode came out right as I finished. This is a fascinating look into the mind of a serial killer, as well as the technology and research behind what it took to find him all these years later.
