0:31

Hey there, welcome to the show. This is

0:33

Beyond Synth, and today I will be chatting

0:35

with Casseter, and we're gonna go to that

0:37

in just a second. I don't really have

0:40

much to update today, so I hope you've

0:42

all been enjoying the show this season. I

0:44

would just like to mention, like I always

0:46

do at the top of the show, that

0:48

you can support Beyond Synth on Patreon, and

0:50

we have some new patrons this week, so

0:52

I would like to do a special shout

0:54

-out. Now this is one of those names

0:56

I've never known how to pronounce. Is it

0:59

Fergal or Fergil? -

1:01

Fergal? Fergal Hanley, is

1:03

that correct? Or is it

1:05

Fergal? I want to say Fergal Hanley,

1:07

so I will. Thank you, thank you,

1:10

Fergal Hanley for... I'm saying it wrong,

1:12

right? Or is this even a real

1:14

name? Is this an alias? This sounds

1:16

like an alias to me. The only

1:18

reference I have for the Fergal is

1:20

there was a Immortal Kombat 2. There

1:22

was a specific thing to the Sega

1:24

Genesis version where you could do a

1:26

Fergality, I think, and like this little

1:28

man would appear. And it was only

1:30

on the Sega version. Does anyone remember

1:32

this? Why would anyone remember this? You're

1:36

not insane, like me. I

1:38

would also like to welcome

1:41

aboard Milk Gap to the

1:43

Beyond Synth Patreon family. Milk

1:46

Gap. I've

1:49

got the coolest listeners. Wait, so it's

1:51

Milk Gap, I'm assuming that is... Mr.

1:53

Porter? Although, if you're

1:55

using an alias, you probably don't want me

1:57

to say that out loud. But the point

1:59

is, thank you for your support. You're

2:01

very cool, almost as cool

2:04

as the $25 patrons in

2:06

the now that's a game

2:08

changer tier. You know, like

2:10

Robot Conglomerate, and Emil, and

2:12

Zack, and Rauer, and your

2:14

friendly neighborhood Raccoon Petey, and

2:16

Ninja Foodie Master, and Tron

2:18

Gevolta, and Alex Selickson, a

2:20

star apart, Hugh Hefner, and

2:22

Ken Giroux. very special to

2:24

me. So yeah, like I said, I've got

2:26

nothing to report. So we're just gonna go

2:28

right in and chat with Casseter. So

2:31

let's go do that. Well,

2:41

I am here right now with Casseter

2:43

all the way from Poland. He says

2:46

I can call him Matt because I'm

2:48

not going to be able to pronounce

2:50

his actual name, which is Mateusz. Is

2:53

that how you say that? Yeah, it's

2:55

Mateusz. That's correct. But let's stick with

2:57

Matt. Did

3:00

I do it okay though? Was I

3:02

okay? Yeah, it was fine. It was

3:04

fine. If you can make it, you

3:06

can use Mateusz. Both are fine for

3:08

me. And that's the Polish version of

3:10

Matthew? Yep. Yeah, exactly. So that's

3:12

cool. So look, man, you've been making

3:14

music for a long time. We've played

3:17

lots of cassette or tracks on the

3:19

show over the years. Now we get

3:21

to know Matt. So what's going on

3:23

today? No, thanks, like Monday, tough Monday.

3:25

So tough Monday up my day job.

3:27

And, you know, Mondays are always difficult,

3:29

but happy to just finish the day

3:31

of this interview. Thank you for an

3:33

invitation. Well, it's good. We can relax

3:35

here and just chat. So as far

3:37

as I know, I guess some of

3:39

the first things you put out were

3:41

around like 2019. Was that

3:43

the first project or was there other

3:45

stuff before this? Well, actually not really.

3:48

So Casator is my first

3:50

musical project. Actually, I tried

3:52

to play around with producing

3:54

music like 20 years ago,

3:56

but I didn't make it

3:58

back then. So Pugetif

4:01

is my first album. I

4:03

believe I started here year

4:05

with some demo releases and

4:07

single releases and yeah. As

4:09

for the first LP, the

4:12

fugitive is the one. software

4:21

like Techno EJ or stuff like

4:23

that, some like some busy toys,

4:26

I would say, to produce music.

4:28

And later on, I switched to

4:30

Apple Studio. I made one song

4:32

there and send it around labels.

4:34

But honestly, I didn't know shit

4:36

about producing back then. So the

4:38

labels told me that, okay, it's

4:40

good, but you are not ready

4:42

probably to release with us. And

4:44

I was like, okay, they don't

4:46

want me. So I just changed

4:48

the hobby. So it wasn't very

4:51

like, major I'd say, but

4:53

I was a young guy,

4:55

like 17 years old or

4:57

so. And later on, after

4:59

many years, I decided to come

5:01

back and try once again with, like,

5:03

more experience as a person. I'd say.

5:06

What made you want to make music

5:08

in general? I had some vibe to

5:10

come back to some hobbies, some interests

5:12

from childhood or my teen years. And

5:15

producing music was one of them.

5:17

And because of some changes that

5:19

happened in my life several years

5:22

ago, in the end, I have

5:24

more time to spare for myself.

5:26

And I wanted to start something

5:28

new. was tired with like partying

5:30

and wanted to have something just

5:33

for myself. So I decided to

5:35

try. and do one track and

5:37

I put it on the sun

5:39

cloud back down. I thought that

5:41

only my family will play it

5:43

or just close friends. There

5:46

will be two plays of it, but

5:48

suddenly there were some plays, there were

5:51

some likes on the SoundCloud page, and

5:53

it was surprising and kept me going.

5:55

So I released the next one, next

5:57

one, and this is how it started.

6:00

You do some other little side things

6:02

as well, right? Like, I think there's

6:04

something called Control Panel. Is that still

6:07

a thing? Yeah, there was a project

6:09

called Control Panel, which is more of

6:11

a techno project. And it's not active

6:13

right now, but we'll see. Yeah, I

6:16

was doing control panel with one friend

6:18

of mine and another one later. So

6:20

I don't have enough time now to

6:23

do a techno side project, but you

6:25

never know. We'll see. Maybe control panel

6:27

will be back as well. That's more

6:29

of like. well like hard

6:32

techno kind of stuff yeah maybe

6:34

not like there was some one

6:36

hard techno track which was around

6:39

like 150 bpm but it was

6:41

more of a scope probably like

6:43

peak or driving techno around 130

6:46

from what i remember is that

6:48

the criteria if it's just a

6:50

certain bpm then it's hard if

6:53

it's 160 or whatever is that

6:55

how it works to be honest

6:58

i don't know myself you You

7:00

know, if we speak about

7:02

techno or house, there are so

7:04

many subgenres which are so close

7:06

to each other. You

7:08

sometimes change clap for a snare

7:11

and you have a different genre

7:13

already. So let's imagine that you

7:15

would divide sent wave into genres.

7:18

There could be like easily 20

7:20

subgenres for sent wave. So yeah,

7:22

the one thing is BPM. The

7:25

other thing that they have like

7:27

specific virtual instruments like Hoover sounds.

7:29

for hard techno and distorted hi

7:32

-hats overall distorted sound some

7:34

hot style elements while this

7:36

pic driving techno it's a

7:38

bit more melodic concentrating or

7:41

like powerful sound or unsounding

7:43

big in general but yeah

7:45

this is only the basic

7:47

approach in details it's usually

7:49

hard to say you know

7:52

the synthwave is the same

7:54

story so when is it

7:56

synthwave and when it's not

7:58

everybody use synths So it's

8:00

really difficult to say. So I

8:03

think that it's more about being

8:05

some part of a scene or

8:07

a community that makes you do

8:10

one genre or another because in

8:12

fact the songs and artists can

8:15

make like really Different

8:17

stuff. I have so many songs on

8:19

my computer just from doing this show

8:21

and getting all these albums over the

8:23

years I have 80 ,000 songs or

8:25

something stupid like that. Oh my god

8:27

I'm always trying to figure out how

8:29

to categorize them and one day I

8:31

was trying to break them down into

8:33

genres just so I could put them

8:35

into different folders because like you say

8:37

synthwave it's like 80 different things and

8:40

then I just got tired of the

8:42

project of trying to organize because I'm

8:44

like well, there's like there's synth pop

8:46

with vocals but then there's synth pop that's

8:48

more kind of upbeat happy music that you

8:50

would hear on the radio but then there

8:52

is also music with vocals and it's electronic

8:55

synth pop but it's sort of more like

8:57

melancholy type music or whatever so I'm like

8:59

so do I put that in the same

9:01

folder with the other synth pop or do

9:03

I put that in its own folder you

9:06

know there's the cinematic music but then there's

9:08

the music that's kind of faster and it

9:10

sounds a bit more video gamey does that

9:12

go in its own folder you know and

9:14

it just gets so overwhelming yeah that's what

9:17

I meant actually and at the end

9:19

of the day I just like electronic

9:21

sounds you know yeah yeah fully understand

9:23

that I also have some like playlists

9:25

on Spotify and try to divide the

9:27

songs and it's like difficult so I'd

9:30

rather divide them into some vibes like

9:32

happy vibes ad vibe I know tracks

9:34

for the gym tracks for work or

9:36

so Yeah. Sad workout at the gym.

9:39

Sad workout. Yeah. Yeah. Makes

9:41

sense. Well, look, let's listen

9:43

to some tunes and then we'll keep

9:46

talking. So there is a track that

9:48

you keep making sequels for. There's like

9:50

Neon Towers and Neon Towers 2 and

9:52

Neon Towers 3. I thought we would

9:54

play the original Neon Towers, which I

9:56

think you have on. There's an album

9:58

called Escape Plan, which is like demos

10:00

and stuff? Yeah, exactly. There

10:02

was a plan to include it

10:04

on a fugitive, but in the

10:06

end, it landed on the demo or completion. Yeah,

10:09

so how about we listen to

10:11

that and then we'll keep talking.

10:13

So this is Neon Towers by Casseter. All

13:54

right, and that

13:57

was towers by Casseter and here

13:59

with Casseter right now Matt just

14:01

talking about the the origins of

14:03

Casseter and Do you like cassettes?

14:06

Is that where that comes from?

14:08

Yeah, exactly when I was a

14:10

child I had a lot of

14:12

cassettes like my mom and my

14:15

photo had a lot of cassettes

14:17

with different genres and like our

14:20

best device to play was a

14:22

cassette player actually so there were

14:24

some nice speakers to play so

14:26

I already got like some CD

14:29

players but only like Walkman's or

14:31

stuff so if you wanted to

14:33

feel a bit of this bass

14:36

sound you needed to use the

14:38

cassette so I kept like recording

14:40

everything on cassettes and

14:42

even when I have had CDs

14:44

I find a way to somehow

14:46

transform these files onto cassettes and

14:48

play them on the best

14:51

device I had in the apartment. So

14:53

that's why actually. Yeah, there's something about

14:55

the cassette sound. I know, like when

14:57

we made the switch originally to CDs,

14:59

I remember that time. It's like the

15:02

sound felt, I don't know, like thinner

15:04

or tinny or something, you know, compared

15:06

to the tape, like the tape just

15:08

felt kind of just warm and I

15:10

don't know. Yeah, there are some differences

15:13

like this noise sound in the background

15:15

somehow made a difference. So

15:17

hard to say. Hard to say. Maybe it's a

15:19

bit of a bit subconscious but definitely there is

15:21

some difference I'd say. You know what I was

15:23

thinking about because you know whenever you try and

15:26

plug a USB plug into the computer and you

15:28

always do it wrong first I don't know if

15:30

this happens to you but whenever I go to

15:32

plug USBs in I always do it incorrectly the

15:35

first time and then I have to like turn

15:37

it over. Yeah happens all the time. For some

15:39

reason it just reminded me of when I used

15:41

to listen to cassettes all the time I always

15:44

put the tape in the wrong way first. So

15:46

like whenever I would go to listen

15:49

to a tape I'd put it in

15:51

press play and then it would go

15:53

kink and I would hit stop and

15:55

like that always happened Like I have

15:57

a magical power of always doing like

15:59

the wrong thing first. Yeah, I remember

16:02

that myself So we have to like

16:04

put it back or forward the whole

16:06

way and sometimes it happened that the

16:08

cassette crushed So this tape inside like

16:10

crushed and it was difficult to repair

16:12

it My dad had a machine that

16:14

you could like repair the tape because

16:17

I remember we broke a few tapes.

16:19

But of course it screws up because

16:21

then when it gets to that part

16:23

of the music, obviously then it's all

16:25

just you know like it's all wobbly

16:27

and fucked up. So yeah, I remember

16:29

having like it was probably rage against

16:32

the machine or or Lenny Kravitz maybe.

16:34

Not sure, but at some song there

16:36

was like for me it became like

16:38

internal part of the song. I was

16:40

even sure that when later on I

16:42

heard this song from, I don't know,

16:44

some Spotify or so. Where is this

16:47

like sound? It's different

16:49

without it, yeah. I missed it. Yeah,

16:51

I think I definitely preferred the glitches

16:53

on cassette to the glitches on CD

16:55

because the CD ones were annoying. Because

16:57

when a CD starts to break and

16:59

it starts to skip, that to me

17:01

is a more frustrating sound than just

17:03

like kind of the wobbly tape screw

17:05

up. Yeah, for sure. When we're in

17:08

the car, if we had like a

17:10

CD player, just the fucking just the

17:12

beep, beep, beep. It's the way I

17:14

hate when CDs grew up. It really

17:16

pisses me off. Yeah, it's like R2D2

17:18

sound like nothing special. So

17:21

man, so what goes on in the

17:23

life of Mateusz? You make music. What

17:25

else do you do, man? Yeah, I

17:27

work and music is too most. most

17:29

integral parts of my life, which I

17:31

spent a lot of time on, but

17:33

I have many different passions. I

17:36

go to gym, I like

17:38

biking, sports, overall

17:40

climbing. I watch some

17:42

series, but not that often as

17:44

previously, I'd say. I play some

17:46

video games, read books, meet with

17:48

my friends, parties sometimes. Yesterday I

17:50

was at cinema and so Nosferatu.

17:52

Nice one, by the way. Nice

17:54

horror. We're inspiring for some like

17:56

darks and stuff, I would say.

17:59

So when you go see those,

18:01

do you watch the dubs or

18:03

do you watch them in English

18:05

or what do you do? They

18:07

were like subtitles were Polish from

18:09

what I remember. Okay. Subtitles were

18:11

Polish and all the sound was

18:13

English. Did you like Nosferatu's mustache?

18:16

I wasn't sure about it, so

18:18

he looked a bit like a

18:20

farmer with it. So yeah, I

18:22

need to think it through. Not

18:24

sure. That seems to be the

18:26

most controversial aspect of that film.

18:30

Yeah, probably haven't read too many opinions

18:32

so far, but I bet it is.

18:34

I mean, I understand it. They wanted

18:36

to make him look like he was

18:39

from that time period or whatever, but

18:41

you know. made him less scary perhaps.

18:43

Yeah, I mean, because the original one

18:45

is fucking freaky looking. Yeah, this one

18:48

was like a farmer from some seaside,

18:50

for example. A

18:53

bit unhealthy guy. Well, then you should do

18:55

what you're doing. You sound like a healthy

18:57

dude. Nice balance life going to the gym,

19:00

hanging out with people. It's way more than

19:02

I'm doing. I don't do anything. Okay, that's

19:04

okay too. Sometimes it's too much for me.

19:06

as well so I also sometimes need time

19:08

to just rest or listen to music but

19:11

it's difficult when you have this life like

19:13

switching from things and it's kind of addictive.

19:15

Yeah I like resting although I'm a little

19:17

stressed right now because we're in the middle

19:20

of a crazy winter with like eight foot

19:22

tall snow banks and I can't really go

19:24

anywhere and even right now as we're recording

19:26

we're on like a high wind watch I

19:29

can hear it outside we're getting like fucking

19:31

80 or 90 mile an hour winds or

19:33

something and so we might even look power

19:35

while we're recording this because it's probably going

19:38

to blow all the wires down. Oh my

19:40

God. Yeah. But it will be interesting break

19:42

for an interview or something like this. Well,

19:47

look, let's move ahead here. You've got a

19:49

bunch of songs with vocal collabs and I

19:51

want to listen to Lost in a Maze

19:54

featuring time travel, which is complicated. So just

19:56

so the audience understands. So this song was

19:58

on the album, The Fugitive,

20:00

but it turned out that

20:03

the vocal sample the time

20:05

travel used was from

20:07

an early 2000s trance track called

20:09

5 million miles by Hiver and

20:12

Hammer featuring Java. However, she's

20:14

actually singing a cover

20:16

of the song 1993 from

20:18

this Italo disco band called

20:20

Llama from 1983. So

20:23

to avoid any complications, the album

20:25

features a similar instrumental track except with

20:27

vocals from Megan McDuffie, but she's actually

20:29

singing a different song Eyes with the soul

20:31

with lyrics and melody. So with

20:33

all that said, I do want

20:35

to still listen to Lost in a Maze

20:37

because I think it's a good

20:40

track, it's a bike -assetter featuring time travel,

20:42

and I should add that of

20:44

all the songs I've heard that

20:46

do sample these vocals, yours is

20:48

by far my favorite. So let's

20:50

listen to this. I'm

21:33

listening to

21:35

Maze, to

21:37

Maze,

21:39

I'm to

21:41

Lost

21:44

in a

21:46

Maze.

21:48

I'm to

21:51

in

21:53

a Maze.

21:55

Five

21:57

million miles

22:00

into

22:02

the yeti

22:04

sea Seas

22:07

of life inside

22:10

of me is complete

22:13

A life we have

22:16

been through before Ninety -nine

22:18

to complete Five

22:54

million miles

22:59

sea Five

23:18

million Seas

23:25

-nine million

23:29

sea Seas

23:51

of of

23:54

me is complete

23:56

A life have

23:59

-nine Five the yeti sea All

24:47

right, and that was lost in

24:49

a maze featuring time travel by

24:52

Casseter. And I'm here with Casseter

24:54

right now, Matt. We're talking about

24:56

biking and going to the gym

24:58

and listening to Lenny Kravitz tapes.

25:02

I like the idea of confusing. It's like it

25:04

was either rage against the machine or Lenny Kravitz.

25:06

I don't know which. That

25:09

was my like two favorite cassettes at

25:11

the time. So yeah, I bet it

25:13

was one of these. I know that.

25:15

They are not close perhaps, but yeah.

25:18

So I guess your music going back

25:21

to genres and like trying to categorize

25:23

things, your stuff definitely sounds to me

25:25

like it's like cyberpunk. Like that's what

25:28

I feel when I listen to your

25:30

music. I don't know. I've been trying

25:32

to figure out in my head what

25:35

I mean by that. Because there's certain

25:37

music I listen to, I'm just like,

25:39

this is cyberpunk. But I don't, I

25:41

wouldn't know how to put that into

25:44

words, but I would say listen to

25:46

Casseter. Oh, nice. Nice, nice to hear

25:48

this. So I don't know myself like

25:51

cyberpunk. Yeah, and the people tend to

25:53

use it at sometimes as more of

25:55

a vibe, kind of atmosphere in tracks.

25:58

Sometimes they define cyberpunk as like hardcore

26:00

mid -tempo stuff, like, for example, extra

26:02

terror and death. And I I also

26:05

heard this expression in relation to my

26:07

music as well. I'd say that my

26:09

music is connecting synthwave with some modern

26:11

electronics. What I enjoyed in synthwave before

26:14

I started producing was its modern use.

26:16

I love the construction of the songs,

26:18

which was a bit different than in

26:21

EDM, for example. So

26:23

I did that, added some modern sounding

26:25

drums and that's it. So what's your

26:27

actual like inspiration? Like when you're making

26:30

stuff, what are you? Are you picturing

26:32

stuff in your head? Like when you're

26:34

making the tunes? It usually starts with

26:36

my mood and the things that happen

26:39

in my life. So if I'm happy,

26:41

the tune will be happy as well.

26:44

It's like very difficult for me to,

26:46

for example, work on a sad tune

26:48

when I'm enjoying life at the moment.

26:51

So usually it refers to some period

26:53

of my life could be the present,

26:55

but also the past. And sometimes, of

26:57

course, I'm inspired shared by some other

26:59

things like for example these movies. some

27:02

books, but it's mostly like transforming my

27:04

current energy onto tracks. How does that

27:06

work with the collabs you do? Like,

27:08

do any of the vocal artists add

27:10

instrumental bits as well? Because I know

27:13

you did a few with Mac Store

27:15

that I feel had like a few

27:17

sort of instrumental touches that sounded Mac

27:19

Store -ish. From what I remember in

27:22

most of my vocal collapse with vocalists,

27:24

I did the instrumental part. There are

27:26

some exceptions. I believe that the notive

27:28

guy recorded some synth solo for cars,

27:31

cover, new man. Yeah, there

27:33

was something like that. But yeah, but mostly

27:35

I did most of the instrumentals. So how

27:38

did you hook up with some of these

27:40

collabs and vocalists in the first place? Like

27:42

you're on the fixed label, right? Like when

27:44

did that happen? I believe it was in

27:46

2019. Fixed label reached

27:49

me. It was called like fixed neon,

27:51

the sub label, which is owned by

27:53

its country. So Scandroid is

27:55

one of his projects. You know him

27:58

for sure, Clayton. They wanted to work

28:00

a lot with vocals and they asked

28:02

me back then if I'm fine with

28:04

this. So I used to work with

28:07

the guy called Preston. Preston Kram, I

28:09

believe, known as Iron Skullet. He's not

28:11

active anymore, but you heard about him

28:14

for sure. He had a big play

28:16

list on the block about Scentwave several

28:18

years ago. Whatever happened to Iron Skullet?

28:20

I'm not sure. I'm not sure to

28:23

be honest. He joined fixed

28:25

label at some point and I

28:27

worked with him. So he worked

28:29

as an A &R there and

28:31

he helped me a lot. He

28:34

had a great ear and he

28:36

always tried to connect me with

28:38

some vocalist. Oh, that's right. He

28:40

went to fixed. Yeah. See, that

28:42

was the thing because when he used to run

28:44

that blog, he used to write like pretty critical

28:47

articles about people's music. And so a lot of

28:49

people were mad at him. Yeah,

28:51

perhaps. And then I remember he, yeah,

28:53

he went to fixed and then it

28:55

was like, oh, can he still run

28:57

the blog? That's why he stopped. I

28:59

was thinking about this the other day.

29:01

I was just like, what the hell

29:03

happened to that guy? I'm like, all

29:05

right. All right, good. Yeah. Thanks. That's

29:07

it. Yeah. Yeah. Nice story. I believe

29:09

it was connected and he played an

29:11

important role because I believe that when

29:14

he joined fixed, he invited me to

29:16

fix myself because I submitted some trucks

29:18

to his playlist at the time. Right.

29:20

not sure if that's the fact, but

29:22

that's what it same but from what

29:24

I know he no longer works with

29:26

fixed not sure what's happening with him

29:28

but if he listens to this interview

29:30

by an accident I hope you are

29:32

well pressed and I think it will

29:34

be an accident if he listens to

29:36

this well that's cool so then some

29:39

of the vocalists were sort of recommended

29:41

through fixed then yeah yeah that's correct

29:43

most of them I believe most of

29:45

them for the entropy were like proposed

29:47

by by fiksnian and of course i

29:49

had some like choice not not every

29:51

vocalist was interested back then but that's

29:53

how it happened actually and uh usually

29:55

this sometimes like these collaborations went pretty

29:57

well like for example with the max

29:59

tour you mentioned so we decided to

30:01

do one more song after it no

30:04

max tour is a cool guy i

30:06

like him yeah i'm a great guy

30:08

great vocalist but he's not active anymore

30:10

as max tour Unfortunately, not sure if

30:12

he will come back with his project.

30:14

He still sings using his original name,

30:16

I guess, Louis Diltal, but Max Tour

30:18

is not anymore from what I know.

30:20

Oh, I didn't know that. I'll have

30:22

to reach out to him. That's a

30:24

pity. Well, whatever. Listen, I don't want

30:26

to hold artists back from doing what

30:29

they want to do, man. As long

30:31

as as long as they're following the

30:33

path they want to follow, that's cool

30:35

with me. Yeah, of course. So yeah,

30:37

myself, I would like to see more

30:39

of Max Tour, but I understand that

30:41

after sometimes of doing stuff in one

30:43

style you want to have a switch

30:45

for one or other reason. Totally understandable.

30:47

Well, I tell you what's also understandable

30:49

is listening to cool music. So we're

30:51

gonna move ahead here to entropy. which

30:54

you just mentioned. This is a track I thought

30:56

was cool. It's called Cloning Factory. With

30:58

your albums, do you like to

31:01

tell stories? Yeah, actually, that was

31:03

my approach when I did, for

31:05

example, this entropy stuff. So it

31:07

was kind of different than the

31:09

approach I have now, which is

31:11

more related, as I mentioned, to,

31:13

like, transforming my energy and the

31:15

situations in my life into music.

31:17

But back then, yeah, I was

31:20

more over thinking about some dystopian

31:22

vision of future, like, cities, communities.

31:24

and uh yeah it was like

31:26

that so i started the songs

31:28

having a title like for example

31:30

this cloning factory and i tried

31:32

to transform this story in the

31:34

vibe into the sound well let's

31:37

listen to it man this is

31:39

cloning factory by casseter I

33:25

You You

36:21

And that was Casseter with the

36:23

track Cloning Factory. I'm

36:25

here right now with Casseter Matt. We're

36:27

just talking about doing collabs and and

36:29

fixed and old iron skeleton. What do

36:31

what do you mean when you say

36:34

you go climbing? Do you do you

36:36

go to the climbing gym? Yeah, it's

36:38

kind of an artificial war. Yep. So

36:40

I climbed there. I started to ride

36:42

on a skateboard last year. So it's

36:44

a kind of war. Come back to

36:46

my childhood hobby as well. I recommend

36:48

that I recommend it, but I'm kind

36:51

of injury prone. So there are some

36:53

downsides as well. I

36:55

have a thing with heights. So I don't think

36:57

I can see there's a funny video of me

37:00

at this place where you got to jump, you

37:02

know, like where they put you on a harness

37:04

and you sort of jump. off a thing. And

37:06

I just froze. I did it eventually, but it

37:08

took me like 20 minutes of just standing there

37:11

until like all these crowds were gathered around, like

37:13

telling me to jump. 20

37:16

minutes were perhaps more terrifying than the jump

37:18

itself, I bet. Yeah, it's funny. It's funny,

37:20

though, when you when you're not tested, like

37:22

you haven't tested yourself, I went up there

37:24

thinking this would be easy. And then the

37:26

second I was there, all of a sudden

37:28

it just awoke this thing in me where

37:30

I'm just like, oh, I guess I'm afraid

37:32

of heights. You know, like I didn't know

37:34

I was just because I was never really

37:36

tested about it. That happens sometimes. You think

37:38

you're comfortable and you go into a new

37:40

situation and go like, oh, I guess I

37:42

don't like looking at fish or whatever. You

37:44

just find out there's something you didn't know.

37:46

Yeah, you never know. I never did this

37:48

jump. So I had a kind of a

37:50

sea seek and I'm a bit afraid that

37:52

it will play a role in such a

37:54

jump. So but maybe I'll just do it.

37:57

Someday now you sound like a tough dude.

37:59

Are you doing biking and going to the

38:01

gym and doing sports and stuff man? It's

38:03

good to be physically active. I haven't been

38:05

physically active in years either That's another thing

38:07

I got to do. Yeah, I even bought

38:09

myself an exercise bike that I put in

38:11

my office. It's okay You have a bike.

38:13

It's already a success, right? But the problem

38:15

is I haven't used it so it's there

38:18

and I thought well I'll make it super

38:20

easy for myself right because I'm never gonna

38:22

do this stuff so I'll put it in

38:24

my office and then you know, I can

38:26

put a movie on the monitor and I'll

38:28

go on the bike and I haven't done

38:30

it once. Like, not even once, man.

38:32

Don't worry, worry. It's in

38:34

your office, people see it, you can

38:37

make a photo with it. It already

38:39

works. Yeah, I could make a photo

38:41

anyways though, I just use AI. Just

38:44

be like, oh, here's my exercise bike

38:46

and it might have fucking three wheels

38:48

on it or something, but like, it'll

38:50

be okay. Like futuristic

38:53

bike stuff, yeah? Cyberpunk

38:56

kind of. So what else is going on, man?

38:58

So what games are you playing? Currently I started

39:00

Cyberpunk. I know it's a

39:02

bit late. But they started it like

39:05

a month ago. So as you know,

39:07

probably when it was released, there were

39:09

some bugs and problems with that.

39:11

So I decided to not play

39:13

back then, but I decided to do

39:16

it now. And it's really cool.

39:18

I play on PC and not so many bugs

39:20

there. It's fun. It's

39:23

like GTA. GTA blend with

39:25

some FPP shooter, I guess. No, it's

39:27

a good game. Like, I know it

39:29

has a bad rap because of, you

39:31

know, like the first day when it

39:34

launched, but it's a good game, I

39:36

think. Yeah, nice one. Looking forward to,

39:38

like, playing it fully. I also have

39:40

this extension, which is called Phantom Liberty,

39:42

I guess. So, yeah,

39:45

we'll see. But yeah, exciting stuff and

39:47

inspiring as well. We talk about inspiration.

39:49

So yeah, this vibe, this mood is

39:51

like somehow connected with the music. But

39:53

to be honest, I don't like the

39:56

music. No, dude, I was just to

39:58

say that. That was the thing because

40:00

I was going to say when I

40:02

listen to stuff like the music you

40:04

make. I go, yes, this should be

40:07

the music of the game, Cyberpunk. But

40:09

when I play Cyberpunk, that's the one

40:11

main disappointment for me is I'm not

40:13

keen on their soundtrack. I'm not really

40:15

even keen on the choices of, you

40:18

know, when you're in a car, like

40:20

the radio stations, like what they play.

40:23

None of it feels like the right

40:25

mood. That's the one part of the

40:27

game I would change is I would

40:29

overhaul the. Yeah, for sure. I usually

40:31

like switch off the music and play

40:33

some same way for Cyberpunk like this.

40:35

And yeah, that's a pity with the

40:37

music. And actually the game company which

40:39

created it is Polish. So

40:41

they are my fellows. Why

40:45

I'm not there? Yeah, yeah, yeah.

40:48

Yeah, but just just joking. Of

40:50

course, there are some many great

40:52

big, much bigger artists featured there,

40:54

I guess. So. Well, you can

40:56

start campaigning now to get some

40:58

music into the Witcher 4, even

41:00

though. Yeah, maybe not sure what

41:02

the kind of music used there,

41:04

but. probably some different stuff, like

41:06

medieval kind of music, not sure.

41:08

Exactly, yeah, but music was a

41:10

bit disappointing at Cyberpunk and I

41:12

used this comparison with GTA, which

41:14

was all. are usually famous for

41:16

great music, like GTA 5,

41:19

4, 3, like Vice City. But also,

41:21

and I know this sounds obvious to

41:23

say, but like the game music and

41:25

soundtrack really set the mood and can

41:27

elevate games. Like in GTA 4, there's

41:29

a radio station called Journey, which played

41:31

like chill ambient electronic music, like Tangerine

41:33

Dream and Philip Glass and Steve Roach

41:35

and stuff. And I used to love

41:37

the vibe of driving, listening to that

41:39

station and doing the cinematic camera. It

41:41

was like a cool movie with these

41:43

like helicopter camera angles and shit. And

41:45

the opposite, like a weak soundtrack can

41:47

just suck the life out of a

41:49

game a bit, you know? Like the

41:51

newer Mortal Kombat games, I feel like

41:53

the music is not as impactful as

41:55

the old ones. And I've been making

41:57

some, you know, like dark synth playlists

41:59

to fight to. Yeah, no doubt. And

42:01

you mentioned Mortal Kombat used to play

42:03

it as a child. Haven't played it

42:06

for a while. But I had a

42:08

cassette with the soundtrack from Mortal Kombat

42:10

movie. Not sure it was the first

42:12

part or the second part, but the

42:14

soundtrack was was great. It was like

42:16

kind of the vibes were pretty different.

42:18

Like there were some Scooter song, there

42:20

was some Megadeth song, like rock stuff,

42:23

Ramstein. And yeah, but all

42:25

the songs were great. Oh, I wonder

42:27

if that's actually the second soundtrack. The

42:29

second, probably. Yeah, the second. The second

42:32

movie was a bit worse from what

42:34

I remember. Oh, just a

42:36

bit. Just a

42:38

little bit worse or or even

42:41

more. Yeah, but there were some

42:43

great songs. Junior, I remember the

42:45

junior reactor. It's like. kind of

42:47

a Psytrance song there. pressing

43:00

play on a CD player. Like the movie's

43:02

horrible, but I love it because I love

43:04

Mortal Kombat, but it's a bad, bad movie.

43:06

But yeah, there'll be like a fight scene

43:08

where all of a sudden the music just

43:10

stops and then they just start playing a

43:13

different song. Like when Sub -Zero is fighting

43:15

Scorpion, it just plays two different songs. It's

43:17

like, it's so bad. It's awesome. Okay, so

43:19

it's like DJ on the weddings playing it.

43:21

Yeah. Well

43:23

then, if I type in

43:25

Mortal Kombat, Annihilation, Soundtrack... Annihilation,

43:28

that was it. Songs. Name,

43:30

yeah. Let's see here. Yeah,

43:32

Scooter with the track Fire,

43:34

Megadeth, almost honest. Ramstein,

43:37

Psychosonic, Juno Reactor, Konga

43:40

Fury. Yeah, good stuff.

43:42

Hits only. And many different, like,

43:45

many different music, so electronic stuff,

43:47

rock stuff. Ramstein's a kind

43:49

of a bit of a metal, I guess. Angle

43:51

truck from what I remember. Yes, it is.

43:54

Yeah, that's I think the reason was because

43:56

it's one of those movie sequels where they

43:58

were just trying to recreate the vibe from

44:00

the first film They just didn't do it,

44:03

right? It was like well in the first

44:05

movie when Scorpion showed up they played kind

44:07

of a metal guitar riff sound so in

44:09

the second movie it's like well it has

44:12

to play a metal song when scorpion is

44:14

there well it's like anything you know when

44:16

people don't understand why something is good and

44:18

then they make a sequel and they get

44:21

everything wrong because they didn't understand why people

44:23

liked the first one so it's a bit

44:25

like that i think yeah it happens yeah

44:27

the first one the scene in the forest

44:30

from what they remember with scorpion that was

44:32

great yes although now i've been watching more

44:34

like proper kung fu you know like action

44:36

movies from like like Hong Kong and stuff,

44:39

like from the 80s. Even though as a

44:41

kid, I loved the fight scenes in Mortal

44:43

Kombat, they're pretty slow compared to like when

44:45

you watch proper fight scenes, like in these

44:48

other action movies, like it's just Hollywood movies

44:50

are just, they're so much more slick. Like

44:52

they always look nicer and the budgets are

44:54

big and everything looks good, but then the

44:57

fight scenes are just kind of not as

44:59

exciting. And then you watch the Hong Kong

45:01

action movies and the film looks horrible. Like

45:03

it's all grainy and you can't see what's

45:06

going on, but the actual fights themselves. are

45:08

amazing I need to check one I never

45:10

watch like Hong Kong oh dude like the

45:12

they're so good like the fights are just

45:15

so well choreographed and the stunts are awesome

45:17

but you know they're they're silly and there's

45:19

only like two sound effects so it's like

45:21

you know whenever people get punched it's always

45:24

the same sound for like every hit and

45:26

it sounds like yes yeah yeah like from

45:28

the game yeah yeah yeah well look let's

45:30

move forward here to another album so let's

45:33

go to we're gonna go ahead to robot

45:35

era well since we brought him up speaking

45:37

of MaxThor, why don't we listen to Till

45:39

the End featuring MaxThor, and this is by

45:42

Casseter. I

46:21

feel the visions

46:23

are coming back again

46:26

I dream the wall on

46:28

the far away Darkness

46:31

is calling and I

46:33

can't help it There's

46:36

planters that seem to

46:38

fade I

46:41

burn with memories

46:43

of my fate I

46:46

saw the cities

46:48

consumed by flame Now

46:50

doubler than a

46:53

one will save me

46:55

I can break

46:57

my chain Only

47:01

hope is lost,

47:03

the only way

47:05

is down But

47:07

how they

47:10

deal The end of the

47:12

ride is gonna get started

47:14

its prime But

47:17

how they deal the

47:19

hand Only hope is

47:22

lost, the only way

47:24

is down But

47:27

how they deal

47:29

the hand Overlight

47:31

is gone, chaos

47:33

makes its prime But

47:36

how they deal

47:39

the hand And

47:46

how they deal

47:49

the hand But

47:56

how they deal

47:58

the hand Let's

48:19

toss the faces

48:21

under a toxic brain

48:23

You're in for

48:25

a future that never

48:27

came I

48:29

see them falling but

48:31

I'm still standing

48:33

I'll find a reason

48:35

to stay I

48:38

have a hunger

48:41

I can contain A

48:43

growing fire inside

48:45

my brain No dying,

48:48

no there's no

48:50

way to stop this

48:52

I can bring

48:55

my tears All

49:18

the hope is lost

49:21

the only way is down

49:24

VEH wait till

49:26

the end All

49:42

the hope is

49:44

lost the only way

49:46

is down Then

49:49

I'll wait till the

49:51

end All the

49:53

hope is lost the

49:55

only way is

49:57

down All

50:42

right, and that was Casseter with the track

50:45

till the end featuring Max Thor, who I've

50:47

been told is not doing Max Thor anymore.

50:49

So now I'm going have to message him

50:51

and find out because that's some distressing news.

50:54

But I'm here right now with Matt, AKA

50:56

Casseter, all the way from Poland. And how's

50:58

the weather in Poland today? It's getting better.

51:00

It's getting better like the spring has started.

51:02

No, probably not. But it's like five degrees.

51:05

So it's kind of good. There was some

51:07

snow. I thought that there will be no

51:09

more snow in Poland anymore. But it happened.

51:11

It happened for like two, three days. Over

51:13

here last year, we didn't get much snow.

51:16

And so this year, you know, there's guys

51:18

who come and plow the driveway. You know,

51:20

that's their job in the wintertime. You know,

51:22

they come and clean people's driveways of snow.

51:24

And since there was no snow last year,

51:27

the guy made he made my dad sign

51:29

a different contract, which was like, and you

51:31

still have to pay me some money even

51:33

if there isn't any snow. Because.

51:36

Yeah. Yeah, makes sense. Because they probably lost

51:38

money last year, so it's like a retainer

51:40

for a lawyer, you know, where it's like,

51:43

you pay me, you know, 50 bucks a

51:45

month, and then even if I don't go

51:47

to your house, you still have to pay

51:49

me the 50. But as it happens, we

51:51

just got so much snow. There's like five

51:53

foot snow banks outside right now. Oh my

51:56

god. And the kids have so far today,

51:58

the day that we're recording this, my kids

52:00

have had six snow days in a row.

52:02

Oh my god. Which is never. That's never

52:04

happened. And when we were kids, the school

52:07

like never did snow days. It would have

52:09

to be the craziest blizzard you've ever seen

52:11

for them to not drive the kids to

52:13

school in the bus. But nowadays they don't

52:15

want to take any chances. And so even

52:18

if they think a storm is coming, they

52:20

close the school or whatever. Oh, that's interesting.

52:22

Yeah, it was like you mentioned. And last

52:24

time I the five feet snow, it was

52:26

like in 2000, 2000, I guess, 2001, something

52:29

like that. Not anymore here in Poland. And

52:31

that can be a problem too. Like if

52:33

you used to get snow and then you

52:35

don't and then when you have like a

52:37

freak storm like years later, everyone forgets what

52:39

to do and you know, they forget how

52:42

to drive. Yeah, to change the tires. Yeah,

52:47

man. So you started your cyberpunk game.

52:49

Oh, you know what game is cool

52:51

that I just played that's not new.

52:53

It's like several years old. There was

52:55

this game called Terminator Resistance. Uh -huh.

52:57

Never heard about it. Dude, it's awesome.

53:00

It's not a big game. It's made

53:02

by the people who made the Robocop

53:04

game, I think, but it's from a

53:06

few years ago. It's kind of like

53:08

Fallout. It's a first -person shooter. You

53:10

play as like a resistance in the

53:12

future war in Terminator, but it captures

53:14

the Terminator vibe better than any of

53:16

the movie sequels or any of that

53:18

stuff. Like it just, it was really

53:21

good. Yeah, nice checking it out at

53:23

the moment on Google. So maybe something

53:25

to play next. Yeah, because what's nice

53:27

about it, you know, a game like

53:29

Cyberpunk, those are kind of games I

53:31

like. I like big open world games

53:33

but they can be very overwhelming you

53:35

know at the same time when you

53:37

know oh shit like I could put

53:40

300 hours into this game and so

53:42

sometimes I do like relaxing with the

53:44

game I know is short so the

53:46

cool thing about Terminator Resistance is it

53:48

kind of feels like you're playing like

53:50

a fallout type game, you know, where

53:52

you're collecting items and opening cupboards and

53:54

gathering resources and stuff. But it's a

53:56

pretty focused story. So even though you

53:58

go into these open world areas, you

54:01

have specific places to go. So it

54:03

like it just feels more focused. And

54:05

so you still get that experience of

54:07

playing like a big open world game,

54:09

but not having to spend 200 hours

54:11

doing it. Oh, nice. That's interesting. And

54:13

I am kind of slow playing all

54:15

the games. So I play like 30

54:17

minutes. a recession. And for

54:20

example, I played Skyrim for like

54:22

five years. I needed

54:24

five years to finish it. But I

54:26

played quite regularly, like every week. But

54:29

yeah, it took such a long time.

54:31

Yes, Skyrim is awesome. That's a game

54:33

I can always go back to. I

54:35

don't put in like the same amount

54:37

of time, but every like three to

54:39

four months, I will always just sort

54:41

of boot up. my Skyrim game and

54:43

just sort of walk around for a

54:45

few hours, like it's always something I

54:47

go back to. Imagine like reading all

54:49

the books there, so I would probably

54:51

still playing it. Oh, the fucking... What

54:53

are the dumb books? The Argonian account?

54:55

Yeah, yeah, for example. So many of

54:57

them. There are some that the Nightmother...

54:59

I just heard a rumor that they're

55:01

remastering Oblivion. Oh, nice. I

55:03

finish Oblivion after Skyrim, so I probably

55:05

won't play it like... but it was

55:07

nice as well. Like Oblivion was my

55:09

first Elder Scrolls game. It was really

55:11

exciting to me at the time because

55:13

I hadn't played an Elder Scrolls game

55:15

before but once I played Skyrim just

55:17

because Skyrim felt a bit more, I

55:19

don't know, like it played better or

55:21

something and so when I went back

55:24

to play Oblivion it felt kind of

55:26

older to me, like, and it was

55:28

harder for me to get into. I

55:30

don't know if you had that experience.

55:32

Yeah, a bit, but yeah, I just

55:34

played and after some time it didn't

55:36

matter. So I enjoyed the story overall,

55:38

so. I guess you need more time

55:40

perhaps, but if they remaster it, it

55:42

would be a nice occasion. It would

55:44

be funny because one of my favorite

55:46

things, which I hope they fix if

55:48

they do remaster it, is at the

55:50

end of the game, there's that thing

55:52

where you gather all the armies together

55:54

to fight like the final demon guy.

55:56

And then when you get to that

55:58

part, it's like six people show

56:00

up. You know, it's like the

56:02

whole game, you're like gathering. There's

56:05

a point they could be. I just remember thinking,

56:07

I all these people. then when

56:10

we finally fight last guy, there's like

56:12

eight people there. Shouldn't this be

56:14

like, there should be like armies right

56:16

now. Like should be like thousands of

56:18

characters on the screen. but But like. It's

56:20

always, it always makes me laugh thinking

56:22

about that. Yeah, it's never happened. Yeah,

56:25

they would change it. I bet they'll

56:27

do it. Yeah. Hey,

56:29

how about this? How about we move

56:31

forward to lights out, which, which was

56:33

in the 2022, I

56:35

think is that correct? Yeah. Yeah.

56:37

And this is the track I

56:39

thought was pretty cool. It's

56:42

called Seek and Destroy by Casseter. Yeah.

57:35

Yeah. Yeah.

58:51

You You

59:35

You All

59:53

Alright, and that was Casseter

59:55

with the track seek

59:57

and from the album

59:59

lights out and I'm

1:00:01

here with right now, Matt, talking about

1:00:04

playing games, playing sports. Wait, when you said

1:00:06

playing sports, did you mean just like physical

1:00:08

activity or do you, you know, play on

1:00:10

like a team or something? Oh, not really.

1:00:12

I used to play football as a child,

1:00:14

but... I had some injuries later, so that's

1:00:16

so often. So more of an individual sports

1:00:18

like gym, biking, climbing and so on. Okay,

1:00:21

no more teams. You don't have any league

1:00:23

of old men that you go play with?

1:00:26

Thank you. Not at

1:00:28

all. Or maybe I'm old. I'm

1:00:30

not 30 anymore. It's

1:00:32

more difficult when you want to... Go for

1:00:34

a drink. It's easier to find people, but

1:00:36

if you want to play a match, not

1:00:40

easy. No, I guess that makes sense. I don't

1:00:42

know. I find I don't even have time to

1:00:44

even hang out with my my friends anymore when

1:00:46

everybody has families. And then you think even when

1:00:48

I was younger, I'm like, oh, but I'll be

1:00:50

a cool guy. You know what I mean? Like,

1:00:52

you know, I've got kids and I'm married, but

1:00:54

I'll still hang out and do all that stuff.

1:00:56

But then when everybody has kids and they're married,

1:00:59

like I have some friends I'll see like once

1:01:01

a year and they live like down the road.

1:01:03

You know what I mean? Like it's like in

1:01:05

horrible. Yeah. Yeah, it's horrible. Let's just meet, like,

1:01:07

we have a January now. Let's just meet in

1:01:09

May, maybe. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, I

1:01:12

think that's a bit of communication went

1:01:14

to the internet, I guess. So maybe

1:01:16

you don't meet them frequently, but perhaps

1:01:19

you have some contact through the messengers

1:01:21

or stuff like that. It's like normal

1:01:23

now. Yeah, I mean, I guess that's

1:01:25

true. I want to scale back, though.

1:01:27

I feel like social media just pisses

1:01:29

me off because oftentimes it's just people

1:01:32

doing stuff they don't want to do.

1:01:34

Yeah, I'm not social media guy, my

1:01:36

soul. So I started my Instagram. I

1:01:38

don't have a private Instagram, only the

1:01:40

musical one. And it's probably the only

1:01:42

one I'm active on. I don't understand

1:01:45

TikTok. I don't understand Twitter or X.

1:01:47

There's something new, which is called Threats.

1:01:49

This is also a social media platform.

1:01:51

Yep, that's the Instagram one. Yeah, yeah,

1:01:53

yeah. So many and there

1:01:56

will be some new. I bet.

1:01:58

Yeah. So they say that kids

1:02:00

want to be on social media

1:02:02

where their parents aren't on. So

1:02:05

they need to launch a new platform, I

1:02:07

guess. Oh, yeah. So

1:02:09

with this thing, the parents just make

1:02:11

everything uncool. Unfortunately,

1:02:13

it happened with Facebook already. Facebook is

1:02:15

not cool anymore. It

1:02:17

will happen to the other media

1:02:19

as well. So when you were

1:02:21

playing Cyberpunk, did you adjust your

1:02:23

character's genitals or what? Not

1:02:26

really. I have this mode switched off.

1:02:28

I heard about it, but I heard

1:02:30

about it in a way that I

1:02:32

thought that whole game is about the

1:02:34

adjusting these genitals. I

1:02:37

just left it off and went forward. We're just

1:02:39

so silly too, because it's a first -person game,

1:02:41

so like, at no point. I've never been interested

1:02:44

in sexual content in video games. I play, I'm

1:02:46

always, I'm about the adventure, I just like the

1:02:48

action and the adventure and stuff like this. And

1:02:50

anytime games have like romance and stuff, I never

1:02:52

do it. There's one scene in Terminator where there

1:02:54

was like a sex scene, I didn't realize I

1:02:57

was starting one, because it just was like, say

1:02:59

something nice to this lady, and I did, and

1:03:01

then it played this really embarrassing thing, and I

1:03:03

just had like shut the TV off, because I

1:03:05

I didn't want my kids walking in and be

1:03:07

like, what the fuck are you doing? Yeah,

1:03:12

the scenes are strange somehow. And they

1:03:14

told me that cyberpunk you can have

1:03:16

like a girlfriend and have some days,

1:03:19

but perhaps I'm choosing the bad dialogue options.

1:03:21

It never happens. Yeah, there's probably some character

1:03:23

that's like easier. I know like in Mass

1:03:25

Effect. There'd be all these characters who, they

1:03:28

were hard to romance, but then there'd be

1:03:30

like one character that you don't have to

1:03:32

do anything. You don't even have to try.

1:03:34

It's just like, they just walk in, hello,

1:03:36

and then you press X and all of

1:03:38

a sudden there's a stupid sex scene is

1:03:41

happening with these like computer characters and it's

1:03:43

just... Like in life, I guess. I

1:03:47

wish. None

1:03:51

of that stuff ever came easy to

1:03:53

me, man. Yeah, me neither, but there

1:03:56

is some person out there. Yeah, I

1:03:58

guess so. Well, that's cool, man. So

1:04:00

then what's going on? What's the plan

1:04:02

for Casseter? Because I know you sent

1:04:05

me a collaboration EP you did with

1:04:07

Cyberwalker, I think. That's not out yet,

1:04:09

but we'll be soon. Yes, exactly.

1:04:12

This is my plan for the coming

1:04:15

months. So we are releasing the

1:04:18

full EP at the end of March. And

1:04:20

we want to release two singles.

1:04:22

I think it's cool. I think

1:04:25

it's really cool. We are really

1:04:27

happy with it. We released some

1:04:29

physical CDs as well. And it's

1:04:31

a really interesting connection of styles.

1:04:34

So we worked in a way

1:04:36

that Cyberwalker, which is actually a

1:04:38

guy who lives in my CD.

1:04:41

the guy from Warsaw who releases

1:04:43

with new retro wave a lot

1:04:45

he provided me with the samples

1:04:47

and I worked with his samples

1:04:50

adding my drums, adding my bass

1:04:52

mixing and mastering so the result

1:04:54

is perhaps the most retro the

1:04:57

most retro the most outrun type

1:04:59

of release i've ever released and

1:05:01

it's mostly about the music for

1:05:03

the car i'd say it had

1:05:06

some like psybian or psychal psychal

1:05:08

elements in it so it's kind

1:05:10

of consistent and we have some

1:05:13

nice uh guest there there is

1:05:15

a guy called zane alexander You

1:05:17

probably know him from he is

1:05:20

a Chew Wave producer Chew Wave

1:05:22

Amiens producer. Great one. And we

1:05:24

have a guitar solo from the

1:05:26

guy called sleepless nights. Not

1:05:29

sure if you're familiar with him. Yeah.

1:05:31

I feel like I've played a track

1:05:33

that he did guitar is on. These

1:05:35

are all names. It's like this year

1:05:37

I'm really trying to get caught up

1:05:39

with having people on the show whose

1:05:41

tracks I've played over the years. So

1:05:43

like I think I actually reached out

1:05:45

to Zane Alexander but he said he

1:05:47

was busy right now. So maybe he'll

1:05:50

he'll be on later on in the

1:05:52

season or something. Yeah, yeah, perhaps. Yeah,

1:05:54

so this piece coming and we are

1:05:56

really excited about it. I'm curious if

1:05:58

the listeners will like it, but I

1:06:00

really hope so. I did listen and

1:06:02

it was all cool. My favorite tracks

1:06:04

were between, I think, On the Run

1:06:06

or Signals. I don't know which one

1:06:08

of you chosen to be your single.

1:06:10

So the first single will be Nocturnal.

1:06:12

So the song with Sleepless Nights then

1:06:14

we released High Beams with Zayn Alexander

1:06:17

and we are still thinking about the

1:06:19

spotlight track for the EP. Perhaps signals

1:06:21

but we'll see. They are kinda close

1:06:23

so the EP is kinda consistent and

1:06:25

all songs here. We

1:06:27

feel that they are close, so it will depend on

1:06:29

the vibe, I guess. It will be spontaneous decision. It's

1:06:31

always tricky for me, like trying to pick a track

1:06:34

to play when I just listen to the thing. I'm

1:06:36

like, I mean, these are all cool, I guess. And

1:06:38

so I just go like, I guess I'll just. Go

1:06:40

with this one or that one. Yeah,

1:06:43

it's hard. It's usually hard decision to

1:06:45

pick a single because when it comes

1:06:47

to platforms like Spotify, like singles have

1:06:49

significantly more place than just album songs

1:06:52

because they get on a release radar.

1:06:54

And it's sometimes difficult to pick one.

1:06:56

for it. Yeah, that sounds annoying. I

1:06:58

guess would you just flip a coin?

1:07:00

I guess we'll just do this one.

1:07:03

I mean, like, do you have to

1:07:05

sit there and really have, like, long

1:07:07

discussions with Cyberwalker about which one is

1:07:09

appropriate? I mean, what do you do?

1:07:11

We had some discussions, but he said,

1:07:14

like, oh, it's fine for him, and

1:07:16

it's up to me. Then I started

1:07:18

to send it around to some friends

1:07:20

and ask them, everybody told me a

1:07:22

different, different song. So I probably flip

1:07:25

a coin or make a spontaneous decision.

1:07:27

day we'll see. It's

1:07:42

always 50 -50. You know, there's just people just like,

1:07:44

well, I hate this thing. Well, I like this thing.

1:07:47

And then like, I'm just left in the middle like,

1:07:49

well, that didn't help at all. Yeah,

1:07:52

you never know. And when you like

1:07:54

check, for example, check Spotify, check Apple Music,

1:07:56

check Bandcamp, the different songs are popular on

1:07:58

each platform. on YouTube. The other

1:08:01

song, for example, has

1:08:03

most plays, So so you never

1:08:05

know, it depends on

1:08:07

some algorithms or some playlist creators' decisions.

1:08:10

It's really hard to pick now. But I

1:08:12

love to do a bit more

1:08:14

like experimental stuff. but

1:08:16

rarely pick it as single. So

1:08:19

if I have an experimental track, which

1:08:21

is, I would say, no track

1:08:23

really synth wave, but something weird

1:08:25

that I wanted to produce for

1:08:27

some reason. let's it as an album

1:08:29

track, not a single. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Well,

1:08:31

how about want do want to listen to

1:08:33

one of the tracks from the

1:08:35

EP? Is that OK if this

1:08:37

releases before it comes out? Yeah, for

1:08:39

sure. That would be a pleasure.

1:08:41

Feel free to play it for

1:08:43

sure. Can we do one of

1:08:45

like, On the run or Signals or do

1:08:47

you want to play the the

1:08:49

other one? Let's play Signals. All right,

1:08:51

let's do it. This is Signals the

1:08:53

upcoming EP Lost Highway Cyberwalker and Casseter. That

1:08:56

was a very dramatic introduction. was

1:09:17

dramatic And

1:12:50

that was the uh, the Highway

1:12:53

EP that he did with

1:12:55

Cyberwalker. That's coming out sometime

1:12:57

in March. That was the

1:12:59

track Signals, which you can't get

1:13:01

yet. This is an exclusive. Ooh!

1:13:04

I'm here with Matt. We're

1:13:06

just uh, about games and uh,

1:13:08

to the gym and climbing

1:13:10

and stuff. But

1:13:14

man, we can probably wind

1:13:16

down. Is there something we

1:13:18

didn't talk about that you

1:13:20

wanted to talk about? Well, maybe

1:13:22

one more thing about my

1:13:24

father plans. Sure. Which I mention. So

1:13:26

I to do some more

1:13:29

like darker releases. And I have

1:13:31

several exciting co -lapses on. If

1:13:33

it will work out, there

1:13:35

will be a nice dark sin cyberpunk

1:13:37

album some top names from scene. Well,

1:13:39

that's cool. Is that something

1:13:41

you plan on releasing like

1:13:43

this year sometime? Yes, somewhere

1:13:45

in the winter, I'd say. So

1:13:47

I'm really into like seasons.

1:13:49

So if is a dark release, I'd

1:13:52

rather release it in or

1:13:54

winter. So hope to do

1:13:56

it later this year. At

1:13:58

least some singles before see. That's the goal.

1:14:01

But I'd be happy with like

1:14:03

several singles as well. Are your

1:14:05

seasons the same as our seasons?

1:14:08

Yeah, right? Yeah, perhaps. Yeah, it's

1:14:10

the same. Because when is your

1:14:12

winter? Winter is like December, January,

1:14:14

February, so it's now. Okay, okay.

1:14:16

Well, it's the same then. Yeah,

1:14:18

because we're on the same

1:14:21

latitude, right? I'd have to look that

1:14:23

up. Well

1:14:27

cuz you know like if

1:14:29

it's Australia their winter is

1:14:31

fucking backwards. Hold on compare

1:14:33

Let's correct compare the latitude

1:14:36

of Poland And

1:14:38

Toronto. We'll do Toronto. Poland's

1:14:41

latitude ranges approximately from 49 degrees

1:14:43

north from the southern border to

1:14:45

55 degrees north the northern border.

1:14:47

Toronto is situated approximately 43 degrees

1:14:50

north. So Poland is slightly further

1:14:52

north than Toronto. Warsaw, for example,

1:14:54

is 9 degrees further north than

1:14:56

Toronto. So you should be getting

1:14:58

colder winters than us. So how

1:15:00

come your snow is going away?

1:15:02

I have no idea. Wait,

1:15:07

you're not a meteorologist. What the hell is

1:15:09

going on? I have

1:15:11

no idea. I wish it could come

1:15:14

back because it's always nice like this

1:15:16

Christmas stuff with snow and snowman. It's

1:15:18

just no longer here. Yeah, it's a

1:15:20

funny thing. And then like last year,

1:15:22

I there was no snow at Christmas

1:15:24

and then this year we had so

1:15:26

much. So there's you just never know

1:15:28

what to wear. Yes.

1:15:31

A lot of people are sick

1:15:33

here in Poland now because there

1:15:35

was some snow in January for

1:15:38

three days. And

1:15:40

it was very cold. Right now it's

1:15:42

kind of a spring, early spring weather.

1:15:45

So, yeah. But sure, if I need

1:15:47

to take my boots from the basement,

1:15:50

like winter boots on, oh, it's like

1:15:52

10 degrees. So maybe tomorrow, yeah,

1:15:55

winter is almost over. Yeah,

1:15:57

that's the problem though. We still have winter and then the

1:15:59

next day after getting like a foot

1:16:02

of snow, it melts, but then the

1:16:04

next day it turns to ice. And

1:16:06

then the road is just covered in

1:16:08

ice and then all our power

1:16:10

cables are covered in ice and stuff

1:16:12

like that. And that's an even more

1:16:14

frustrating problem. Yeah, crazy stuff, Never know

1:16:16

what to expect. What we do know

1:16:18

what to expect is cool music from Casseter

1:16:20

out later this year and cool collabs,

1:16:23

right? Yeah, yeah. exactly, hope

1:16:25

you like it. I'm

1:16:27

excited too. do more music

1:16:29

and addicted to making

1:16:31

music so you can expect more

1:16:33

stuff from me for sure. Well, that

1:16:35

sounds awesome, man. How about we to

1:16:37

one more song and then we'll say

1:16:39

goodbye. I wanna listen to

1:16:41

the track Stalker Stalker is a

1:16:44

cool song. Yeah, and the song

1:16:46

from my recent OP. so let's pick

1:16:48

this one. See, perfect, see how

1:16:50

that all lined up. So this

1:16:52

is Stalker by Casseter. Thank

1:18:13

you. Yeah

1:20:31

Alright, and that was Casseter with the track

1:20:33

Stalker. It's from the album Vicious Circle, the

1:20:35

most recent album from Casseter. Although maybe when

1:20:38

this thing... No, this thing will air before

1:20:40

the other thing. Yeah, this is fine. Anyway,

1:20:42

I've been talking to Matt. Mateusz

1:20:44

from Poland, and we've been having a good time.

1:20:46

But now I'm going to hang up on you.

1:20:48

So what do you got planned for the rest

1:20:50

of the day? You gonna go to bed? Not

1:20:53

yet, because it's like 7 p

1:20:56

.m. here. So just eat a

1:20:58

dinner, perhaps place Haribo Punk, a

1:21:00

bit readable, maybe. And that's it.

1:21:02

Rest, actually. Yeah, thank

1:21:04

you. It was a pleasure. Hopefully it was

1:21:07

good. I sometimes feel like when

1:21:09

I switch from Polish to English, I love

1:21:11

like 90 % of my sense of humor.

1:21:15

Well, I know, again, I know it's

1:21:17

tough because I speak very quickly as

1:21:19

well. And so I know, like, I

1:21:21

probably don't make it easy. I'll

1:21:24

make a joke. What the fuck did you say?

1:21:27

Oh, it's like easy to understand you so. But

1:21:30

I still have this like 10 % soul. It

1:21:33

should be enough. Yeah. No,

1:21:36

it's good, man. And you make

1:21:38

cool music. So I look forward to hearing

1:21:40

the stuff and we'll play it on the

1:21:43

show and do all that stuff. And yeah,

1:21:45

have a lovely Polish evening. What's for what's

1:21:47

for dinner? Oh,

1:21:50

nothing exciting, I guess.

1:21:53

So a bread with some

1:21:55

sausage or Polish boring stuff.

1:22:00

Hey, man, sounds good to me. Food's always great

1:22:02

when somebody else makes it. So if you came

1:22:04

over here and provided me with the Polish sausage

1:22:06

and bread, I'd be like, hey, thanks, man. If

1:22:08

it meant I didn't have to make anything. Yeah,

1:22:11

but I need to make it myself

1:22:13

today, so... Yeah. Thank

1:22:17

you. Have a great day. Yeah, you too, man. Take care.

1:22:20

Bye. Bye -bye. Alright,

1:22:27

and that was my conversation

1:22:29

with Casseter. That

1:22:31

was fun. That dude's got a deep voice.

1:22:35

So yeah, don't forget to check

1:22:38

out the music of Casseter. and

1:22:40

they'll have that new collab EP coming out

1:22:43

so that is cool and I hope everybody

1:22:45

has a lovely week and I think a

1:22:47

few days ago I posted episode 12 of

1:22:50

Beyond Synth and Color Theory Talk about Depeche

1:22:52

Mode that is a patron exclusive show although

1:22:54

I have been mulling over the idea once

1:22:56

it's finished in like 10 years that I

1:22:59

may Like, release some podcast temporarily to the

1:23:01

feed just so like, people can check out

1:23:03

the show and then like, delete it like

1:23:06

a few weeks later or whatever. Is that

1:23:08

a cool thing to do? I don't know,

1:23:10

I'm not a businessman. I'm just

1:23:12

a guy. A guy who is right now

1:23:14

in a house that is covered with eight

1:23:17

feet of snow. I need to go get

1:23:19

a roof rake. We're setting a precedent right

1:23:21

now for the amount of snow my region

1:23:23

has received and, uh, I think I gotta

1:23:25

get this snow off my roof because it's

1:23:27

high, but you need a roof rake. And

1:23:29

I haven't got one. And now you know

1:23:31

why I said I had nothing to report

1:23:34

in the intro of this show, because I

1:23:36

got nothing. So have a lovely week, keep

1:23:38

being cool, keep listening to Beyond

1:23:40

Synth. It's the best synthwave chat show

1:23:42

there is, and thank you all for

1:23:44

your support. My lovely patrons and the

1:23:46

people on PayPal. Like Jersey,

1:23:48

who keeps messaging me with inspirational synth

1:23:50

quotes, because that's always nice, and I'm

1:23:53

outta here, so I will talk to

1:23:55

you next week on Beyond Synth.
