Congratulations! Your gift of a

0:03

new day is here. Ready

0:05

to live it big? You're

0:07

listening to the Big Life

0:09

Devotional Podcast. Now, here's Pamela

0:11

to get you fired up

0:14

for all God has available

0:16

for you today. Well, good

0:18

morning, beautiful. Welcome to a

0:20

brand new day of life.

0:22

Happy Tuesday, my friends. I

0:24

am coming to you from

0:26

the shores of North Bali

0:28

in the jungle. It's... Absolutely

0:30

gorgeous. We woke up this

0:33

morning to roosters crowing at

0:35

4am. And it's just such

0:37

a beautiful day of life.

0:39

I'm excited to help you

0:41

get your day started right.

0:43

The title of today's episode

0:45

of The Big Life Devotional

0:48

Podcast is Counting Steps. How

0:50

many steps did you take

0:52

yesterday? I bet you counted

0:54

them, didn't you? You know how

0:56

many steps you took yesterday. But

0:59

my question is, how many of

1:01

them actually counted? Have you

1:03

ever been walking or jogging or

1:05

hiking and you realize that you

1:07

forgot to start exercise tracking and

1:10

then you feel like what you

1:12

did didn't even count because you

1:14

weren't tracking it? I think about

1:17

that for a second. That's

1:19

kind of ridiculous, isn't it?

1:21

But we all do it.

1:24

Like, oh no, those steps

1:26

don't count because I wasn't

1:29

tracking. Well, you're likely more

1:31

mindful of your steps now

1:34

than you've ever been

1:36

because of your watch

1:38

that tallies up all

1:41

your steps each

1:43

day. But let me

1:45

ask you, do your

1:47

steps count? You're counting

1:50

them, but do they

1:52

count? He delights in

1:54

every detail of their

1:56

lives. I love that

1:59

scripture. so much. That would

2:01

be a great little memory

2:03

verse. You can memorize that

2:06

today. The Lord directs the

2:08

steps of the godly. He

2:10

delights in every detail of

2:13

their lives. Do you know

2:15

that's true? That's absolutely true.

2:17

He directs your steps. Your

2:19

steps are directed. The average

2:22

person takes over two million

2:24

steps in one year and

2:26

that's a lot of steps.

2:29

The question is, out of

2:31

those two million steps, you're

2:33

faithfully recording on your watch

2:35

every year, how many of

2:38

those steps are in line

2:40

with God's steps? When God

2:42

created you, he had a

2:45

plan in mind for you.

2:47

A blueprint for your life

2:49

outlining all you could be

2:51

and all you could do

2:54

with the potential that he

2:56

has placed within you. Yes,

2:58

he takes delight in every

3:01

detail of your life. He

3:03

has great and beautiful plans

3:05

for you. And all you

3:07

have to do is follow

3:10

the steps. He's literally lining

3:12

up for you. But have

3:14

you been? Have you been

3:17

aligning your steps with his

3:19

steps? Have you been seeking

3:21

his plan for your life?

3:24

Here are four important questions

3:26

about your steps. First, where

3:28

are you going? Today you

3:30

will be stepping. Your watch

3:33

will be tallying. But have

3:35

you ever stopped to ask,

3:37

where are you going? Do

3:40

you know there's somewhere God

3:42

wants you to go? Your

3:44

presence, your influence, your impact

3:46

is desperately needed. Will your

3:49

steps take you there? Look

3:51

down the path you're If

3:53

you keep doing what you're

3:56

doing, is this going to

3:58

take you where you should

4:00

be going? Oh, isn't that

4:02

so valuable to actually see

4:05

where your steps are taking

4:07

you? Where's this leading you?

4:09

You continue doing this day

4:12

after day after day, these

4:14

steps, these steps? Where does

4:16

it take you? Are you

4:18

on the right path? Second,

4:21

who are you walking with?

4:23

Show me the five people

4:25

you spend the most time

4:28

walking with and I will

4:30

show you who you are

4:32

becoming and it is true

4:34

without fail. Are these people

4:37

living the kind of life

4:39

you want to live? Are

4:41

they seeking God the way

4:44

you want to seek God?

4:46

You're stepping with them. So

4:48

don't you think it's important

4:50

to ask? Third, what are

4:53

you stepping in? Gosh, what

4:55

messes we create when we

4:57

step into situations we should

5:00

have never been in in

5:02

the first place. We go

5:04

where we know we shouldn't

5:07

be going. We put ourselves

5:09

into these compromising and tempting

5:11

positions and then we wonder

5:13

why we fail. We are

5:16

all far more weak than

5:18

we think. We are one.

5:20

bad choice away from really

5:23

messing up some things. Like

5:25

we should have never stepped

5:27

into that in the first

5:29

place. What are we stepping

5:32

in? My husband and I

5:34

have been married for over

5:36

30 years and we trust

5:39

each other explicitly. Like we

5:41

have an amazing marriage. However,

5:43

we have a rule. We

5:45

will never put ourselves in

5:48

compromising positions to be tempted

5:50

to be tempted. You will

5:52

not see me at the

5:55

club. I don't go out

5:57

drinking with the girls. I

5:59

don't step into that. I

6:01

have something to protect. And

6:04

finally, what are you stepping

6:06

over or trying to go

6:08

around? We tend to avoid

6:11

the hard stuff, don't we?

6:13

There are steps in front

6:15

of us. We know we

6:17

need to take, but we

6:20

have been trying everything we

6:22

can to step over it

6:24

and go around it when

6:27

God is saying no. I

6:29

brought you here for a

6:31

reason and now I want

6:34

you to go through this.

6:36

Stop avoiding the necessary step

6:38

in front of you. You

6:40

are here for a purpose.

6:43

Take the next step. Don't

6:45

get stuck here because you're

6:47

afraid. Today's the day. Next

6:50

step. Oh, what a great

6:52

motto that would be, just

6:54

to repeat to yourself, next

6:56

step, next step. So where

6:59

are you going? Who are

7:01

you walking with? What are

7:03

you stepping in? What are

7:06

you trying to go around?

7:08

Today, the average person will

7:10

take 5,500 steps. Maybe you

7:12

take a lot more, maybe

7:15

you take less. That's average,

7:17

5,500 steps. How many will

7:19

you take? But more

7:22

importantly, how many of those

7:24

steps will count? Count on

7:26

God's watch. You know, you

7:28

are on God's watch. How

7:31

many of your steps will

7:33

count on God's watch today?

7:35

Will you go where you're

7:37

supposed to go? Will you

7:40

slow down when you're supposed

7:42

to slow down? So you

7:44

don't miss what's important. Will

7:46

you step into the life

7:49

he has planned for you?

7:51

Will you take the next

7:53

step in becoming the person

7:55

you were created to be?

7:57

Will you make your steps

8:00

count? The Lord directs the

8:02

steps of the godly. The

8:04

definition of godly in the

8:06

dictionary is religious, and I

8:09

do not think religious is

8:11

what your creator is looking

8:13

for here. Your religion really

8:15

isn't going to do anything

8:18

for you. There are no

8:20

labels, no memberships, no councils

8:22

or boards here. There is

8:24

a personal relationship and a

8:27

desire to seek him. So

8:29

maybe think of godly more

8:31

like this. A person who

8:33

is obedient to God. A

8:36

person who is surrendered to

8:38

God. A person who trusts

8:40

God. A person seeking God.

8:42

Is that you? Maybe you

8:45

don't do it perfect, but

8:47

you're trying to be obedient.

8:49

You're trying to be surrendered.

8:51

You're trusting God more and

8:53

more. You're really seeking him.

8:56

That's godly. If you're

8:58

obedient to him, he will be

9:00

able to direct your steps, and

9:03

then your steps will count. If

9:05

you are defiant and stubborn and

9:08

insist on your own way, your

9:10

steps simply won't count. So today

9:12

we will seek him and we

9:15

will be obedient to him. We

9:17

will be in alignment with God.

9:19

He will direct our steps and

9:22

oh how he will take delight

9:24

in every detail of our lives

9:26

as we step into his plan

9:29

for us. So let's step into

9:31

the big life God has prepared

9:34

for us. created us for, planned

9:36

for us, aligned for us, and

9:38

he's directing us to. Next step,

9:41

my sister. May I pray with

9:43

you today? Oh, join me right

9:45

now. Well, good morning, God. Thank

9:48

you for the... gift of a

9:50

brand new day of life. And

9:53

thank you, Lord, that you are

9:55

watching over us, that you are

9:57

counting our steps. You know right

10:00

where we're at, and you know

10:02

the step right in front of

10:04

us. And I thank you, God,

10:07

that you have given us exactly

10:09

what we need, the courage and

10:12

the strength and the provisions we

10:14

need to take the next step.

10:16

So Lord, I pray that we

10:19

are aware of where we're going,

10:21

where our steps are taking us

10:23

to. and that we can check

10:26

and see if we're out of

10:28

alignment. Lord, I thank you for

10:30

the reminder to check who we

10:33

are walking with, to check what

10:35

we are stepping into, and also

10:38

just a holy conviction, are we

10:40

trying to go around something? We're

10:42

avoiding something. Lord, I thank you

10:45

for the work that you're doing

10:47

in each of our lives. I

10:49

thank you for your spirit that

10:52

speaks to us so clearly. We

10:54

are seeking you. and we thank

10:57

you. I pray for your provision

10:59

and your protection over every family

11:01

represented listening today. It is in

11:04

the sweet and powerful name of

11:06

Jesus. Amen. I write my friends,

11:08

I hope you have a beautiful

11:11

day of life. I will meet

11:13

you again tomorrow. I love you

11:16

wildly. Goodbye everybody. You were created

for a big life. We'll help

11:20

you do it. Join us each

11:23
