Big foot and
1:01
be hard. The
1:03
greatest in the
1:05
podcast. Wherever you're
1:07
listening or watching,
1:09
remember always keep
1:11
it's watching. Yeah.
1:13
Oh good, how's going? Not so bad,
1:16
not so bad. Finally got out
1:18
to the woods again. That's looking
1:20
good. Weird tree breaks, super
1:23
weird things are happening. Local
1:25
stories are starting to trickle in
1:27
there's always something going on man
1:29
always something going on so Kind of
1:32
exciting. That's great. Yeah. Yeah. I'm pretty
1:34
stoked man I needed to walk around in
1:36
the woods I needed to clear my head
1:38
I needed to get my eyes on the
1:41
ground looking for footprints found a possible 14
1:43
inch print One of our local spots
1:45
last week and then this week found
1:47
some other possible thing nothing you can
1:49
hang your hat on Nothing you can hang
1:51
your hat, but still. It's good to be out
1:53
in the woods, man. And the weather's changing. We
1:56
got spring now. We got the good weather looking
1:58
at us for the next six or eight. months.
2:00
Some sunlight? Yeah, sunlight has been
2:02
beautiful and blue skies lately and
2:04
got a great friend on the podcast
2:07
today. Everything's going good, man. Everything's coming
2:09
up Cliff and Bobo. What about you,
2:11
man? I'm working with this new, well, no,
2:13
he's a kid I was working with before,
2:15
but the kid that's in the big footage
2:17
school. Yeah. And he's obsessed with
2:19
mountain monsters. So I was going to
2:21
give a call to a Wild Wild
2:24
Bill, like, just he talked to him
2:26
for a couple minutes. Well yeah, Bill
2:28
will sign some autographs or something for
2:31
him too, you know. I'm gonna see
2:33
those guys in April. I'm doing that
2:35
gig out in Colorado and
2:37
Estes Park in April.
2:39
Are there going to Estes?
2:42
Yeah, yeah. Awesome, that's great.
2:44
That's great. That's great. That's
2:47
great. That's great. I think
2:49
Marie is there and that's there
2:51
and that's there. Yeah, awesome.
2:54
That's great. a couple autographs
2:56
from those guys if I
2:58
remember. Oh cool, who's like Cliff
3:00
Coffee today? Yeah, well dude, I'm stoked,
3:02
you know where I am right now? Where?
3:04
I'm, first of all, I'm in Sandy,
3:07
Oregon, that's one part, and that is
3:09
my hometown, or at least that's the
3:11
town I live in, I choose to
3:13
live in, but I am sitting in
3:16
the record shop, I'm sitting in a
3:18
record shop in Sandy, which is probably
3:20
one of the best vinyl shops,
3:22
like, certainly locally. I mean, sure,
3:24
there's things like a Miba record
3:26
and all that sort of stuff,
3:28
like the giant warehouse sort of
3:30
things. But as far as a
3:32
local little shop, I'm sitting in there
3:35
now with the lovely and talented
3:37
Scott Minton, often referred to as
3:39
Minti. Minti fresh. Yeah. Right. That shops
3:41
right up when you're going north, like
3:43
if you're heading up towards the
3:45
mountains on that one-way street, right?
3:48
That is absolutely correct. I've been
3:50
in there. It's a skateboard
3:52
shop, skateboard museum, and vinyl
3:54
record shop all in one.
3:56
That places killer. I've been in
3:59
there. And I'm... sitting here right now.
4:01
So how could I not be excited,
4:03
right? And by the way, here he
4:05
is. Scott, thanks for coming on, man.
4:07
I really, really, really appreciate it. It's
4:09
been a long time that we've been
4:12
trying to get you on the
4:14
show here. I'm super excited to
4:16
be here. Thanks for being persistent,
4:18
being persistent. I think you've been
4:20
asking me for four or five
4:22
years now. Yeah, a long time.
4:24
I just haven't been able to make
4:26
time or for 300. feels like forever.
4:28
It does feel like forever. What's up
4:31
both? It's good to see you buddy. Good to
4:33
hear you. I know what you look like. Your image
4:35
is burnt into my visage. Well you
4:37
know we didn't get we didn't bring
4:39
Scott on to talk about the record shop
4:41
or the skateboarding shop and all the
4:43
way that really should be spoken about
4:45
a little bit I think because there's
4:47
a new skate park here in Sandy
4:49
and there's a lot of cool things
4:51
going on here. We brought him on
4:53
because Scott has been a big footer
4:55
for a very very long time and
4:57
besides that he's like most of my
5:00
friends he's an unusual weirdo right he's
5:02
the usual weirdo he's the usual weirdo
5:04
and he's had some pretty crazy encounters
5:06
some of which have been recorded that
5:08
we're gonna play for you guys here
5:10
but but I guess we should start
5:12
at the beginning like how the hell do we
5:14
know you man because I met you I think at
5:17
the same time right yeah yeah I met you guys
5:19
within like 24 hours And I was
5:21
thinking about that today. I had
5:23
to dig in my boxes
5:25
of notes. Luckily, I'm a
5:28
hoarder. And I just heard good
5:30
stuff, art and memories and
5:32
things. And it was 2008,
5:35
and I went on the
5:37
Mendocino BFRO expedition, which
5:39
at the time was
5:41
just a Northern California
5:44
expedition. And yeah, you
5:46
guys ended up being there.
5:48
And I found out. After, you
5:50
know, driving 11 hours or so
5:52
to go to this really
5:55
secluded place, it was like
5:57
a treasure hunt and ended
5:59
up... meeting all you guys, and then at the end of
6:01
the trip, we're kind of, you know, saying goodbye, like, hey,
6:03
yeah, you know, where you go in? I'm like, oh, I got to
6:05
drive, I got to drive like 11 hours, and you're like, Cliff, you
6:08
were like, yeah, I got to drive 11 hours, you're like, yeah, I
6:10
got to drive 11 hours, you're like, yeah, I got to drive
6:12
11 hours, I'm like, yeah, I got to drive, I got to drive,
6:14
I got to drive, I got to drive, I got to drive
6:16
11 hours, I got to drive, I got to drive, I got to
6:18
long, I got to long beach, I got to long, I got to
6:20
long beach, I got to long beach, I got to long beach, I
6:22
got to long beach, I got to long beach, I got to long
6:24
beach, I got to long beach, I got to, I
6:26
got to, I got to, I got to,
6:28
I got to Avenue. Or Semino or something.
6:31
Yeah, Fourth and Semino, yeah. Like, I gotta
6:33
drive to Fourth and Semino. And we lived
6:35
on the same street about a block from
6:37
each other. Oh, that's right. Yeah, it
6:39
was just, I was like, I guess
6:41
we're friends now. Yeah, and look, we're
6:43
friends still. Yeah, it was so easy.
6:46
All I had to do is just
6:48
follow the treasure map. So it's through
6:50
your friendship, and Bobos too. You guys made
6:52
a very cool entrance and I remember, I
6:54
think, you know, word got through the camp,
6:56
like, oh, Bobo came and like at that
6:59
time, I was interested in
7:01
Bigfoot before I knew about the VFRO,
7:03
but I didn't like reach out to
7:05
people and you guys were kind of
7:07
the first people I somehow discovered, like
7:09
on that early, I feel like early
7:11
days of the internet's the wrong thing
7:13
to say, but it really does feel
7:15
like we were like using dial up and
7:17
stuff and it was just, like very
7:19
ancient now, You know, I didn't know
7:21
that there were people who like, you
7:24
know, kind of spent as much time
7:26
doing this stuff as all of you
7:28
guys do. And therefore I didn't
7:30
know that there were people that
7:32
were like popular or quasi
7:34
celebrity in Bigfooting
7:37
and not the, you know, that's probably
7:39
the wrong term. But like,
7:41
Bobo has a story that precedes him,
7:43
you know, so like I heard, who is
7:45
that guy? And I just remember like. I'm
7:48
gonna go meet him and I got so
7:50
excited and I like drove down from wherever
7:52
I was down to this camps and we
7:54
I think we had the whole campsite because
7:56
we were you know we were the first
7:58
people in to this valley. I went flying
8:00
down there and I parked
8:03
my car and jumped out
8:05
and I'm like, oh, hey, what's up,
8:07
man? And you're like, I
8:09
don't know, what's up? And
8:12
you're just standing there and
8:14
I'm like, damn, you're tall.
8:16
And you're like, damn, you're
8:18
tall. And you're like, let
8:21
me give you a little
8:23
advice when you're driving through
8:25
a camp site, but want to
8:27
take it a step back. But
8:29
I think it was a great way to
8:32
meet you because you're like, obviously
8:34
you're you, you got a great
8:36
heart and... It's a good time police.
8:38
Yeah, definitely. And after I talk to
8:41
you for five minutes, I'm like, I'll
8:43
be friends with it, they're
8:45
probably forever. And it was just
8:47
great. Yeah, Bobo is in fact
8:49
a good time police, as long
8:51
as everybody, and I mean
8:54
everybody is having a good time,
8:56
nobody gets their ass kicked. Bobo's
8:58
going to have some words and it may
9:00
come to blows. I've seen it happen before
9:03
man so Bobo's in fact a good time
9:05
police so you got luckily you're a
9:07
lovely person Scott. Yeah I got a
9:09
citation. I got a I got a
9:11
warning warning. Well let's talk about that
9:13
expedition because when I look back at
9:15
that expedition I know that we're in
9:17
California and I know that uh we're
9:20
on a reservation at something like right
9:22
outside the res I don't remember which
9:24
I remember which was Derek Randall there.
9:26
He might have been. I can remember
9:28
a big old white truck and I
9:30
thought that was Derek's or something. So
9:33
I met him. I believe that was
9:35
the year that Bobo and I were,
9:37
we spent, what, seven weeks or 10,
9:39
14 weeks together or something? 10.
9:41
Oh, it's going to 10 weeks.
9:43
There you go. Yeah, we were
9:45
everywhere from the California Sierras all
9:47
the way up the British Columbia
9:49
and everywhere in between. That's when
9:51
I met Mike Green. That's when I
9:53
met Derek, Derek, that's, Derek Randall,
9:55
that. You know, of course,
9:57
of course, you and Matt.
10:00
Yeah, it was my first Matt
10:02
interaction. Tell us, tell us about,
10:04
give us a good buddy maker
10:06
story. Man, I, to this day,
10:08
I'm still amazed at the amount
10:10
of energy that Matt brings to
10:12
everything that he does. And like,
10:14
Bigfooting, particularly
10:17
in the BFRO, and just like
10:19
that level of sincerity and
10:21
care that he has about
10:23
all the stuff is like amazing.
10:25
And that comes across all the
10:27
time. when you see Matt eight in
10:29
the morning or you see Matt at
10:31
the middle of that's some action or
10:33
whatever he's 100% there and I feel
10:35
like that's he says exactly what
10:38
he thinks he has like no
10:40
filter and I come to appreciate that
10:42
in people because it's pretty honest
10:44
and it's like man I'd rather know
10:46
exactly what you think than think
10:48
you mean something else and find it
10:50
out later. It's just that
10:52
that's sincerity and I'm a high
10:55
energy person, Matt's a high energy person,
10:57
so I was like, dude, this dude's
10:59
cool. And he'd like set up the
11:01
treasure hunt, you know, what I mean? Like
11:03
he made the flats or whatever, you
11:05
know, his his BFRO brainchild, it
11:07
was pretty cool. But then like, I
11:09
didn't realize I could like be a
11:11
part of that and like I could
11:13
go look for monsters. I don't just
11:15
have to read about him in a book.
11:17
Like, that's kind of cool. And then
11:20
like I was kind of thinking of
11:22
thinking. in the BFRO with like a
11:24
business letter. He has a letter here.
11:26
He has like these binders of BFRO
11:29
stuff and like here's his, he's gonna
11:31
read the letter that he applied to
11:33
the BFRO, make sure you say the
11:35
date though, he want to have the
11:38
date on that one. Oh yeah, it was a
11:40
pleasure to attend the Manasino expedition
11:42
May 1 through 4, as promised
11:44
I am returning the SD card
11:46
that I used to record on
11:48
one night of the night missions.
11:50
Unfortunately, aside from a snap that
11:52
may have been a twig breaking,
11:54
there was nothing of any substance
11:57
on any of the recordings. When
11:59
we parted ways... You mentioned that if I
12:01
was interested in helping out with investigations
12:03
and interviews, it might be possible. Unfortunately,
12:05
I have not heard back from Brandon.
12:07
Sorry, buddy, he didn't mean to throw
12:10
down the bus there. Regarding this,
12:12
he did get back to me. I realize
12:14
that it's ultimately your decision, so I'm again
12:16
making my interest known. I would love to
12:18
try my hand at following up in reports
12:21
that would be relevant to my present location
12:23
in Southern California. I'm a New
12:25
Jersey native and am fairly
12:27
familiar with the New Jersey
12:29
and Eastern Pennsylvania area and I
12:31
lived in the Pine Barrens for four
12:33
years. I think I was saying I would
12:35
help up with New Jersey stuff too. I'd
12:37
be willing to keep up with and learn
12:40
the rope with the New Jersey stuff too.
12:42
I'd be willing to keep up with
12:44
and learn the ropes from other investigators
12:46
as well. I'm also willing to travel
12:48
if necessary. Matt doesn't give a crap
12:50
about the SD card at all. Oh
12:53
I know. I know that now. That's
12:55
why I made a point to read
12:57
that. I'm like, hey, I return this
13:00
little trappy piece of plastic. Yeah, I
13:02
promise that you totally forgot
13:04
about by now. Stay tuned for

15:29
stayed in contact. Scott was kind of
15:31
like my right hand in a lot
15:33
of ways when I was running expeditions.
15:35
After the TV show went off the
15:37
air and I'm thinking, what am I
15:39
going to do? Do I go back
15:41
to being a teacher or whatever? So
15:44
I started running some expeditions. out here
15:46
in Mountain Hood National Forest and Scott
15:48
is very multi-talented. He's a ski patrol
15:50
guy up here at, or was, I
15:52
don't know if you still are, you're
15:54
still doing that? I think once you're
15:56
in, you're never out unless you get
15:58
jumped out, but I did not pay. my dues
16:00
this year and I'm not patrolling because I
16:02
broke my knee and that's a whole other
16:05
story. Yeah. But I'll probably go back to
16:07
it. Well he has like medical cards and
16:09
all that sort of stuff and you
16:11
know when I do expeditions I do
16:13
everything above board so to speak so
16:15
I get my permits and I do
16:17
all the I jump through all the
16:19
hoops at Mounthood National Forest expects you
16:21
to do and it looks very favorable
16:23
if you have someone who's kind of
16:25
like an EMT sort of status or
16:27
right below there. I don't know where Skeep
16:29
Patrol was. But anyway, he was my
16:32
right hand out there because he's very
16:34
versed at Bigfoot stuff. And on top
16:36
of that, he's got medical skills and
16:38
people skills and all this other stuff
16:40
too. So he hosted expeditions
16:42
with me for at least a year or two
16:44
or something like that. What are some of the
16:46
highlights that you remember from there? Because
16:49
you were actually part of the
16:51
discovery of a place that we
16:53
nicknamed Lindsay Lake. for example, that
16:55
is still producing a possible handprint
16:57
cast, came out of there not
16:59
three weeks ago. So yet it's still
17:01
going, or maybe, well, probably not five weeks
17:03
ago, I think it'll be fair, is before
17:05
the snow came. But still, what are some
17:08
of the memories you have of those events?
17:10
Oh man, it was North American Bigfoot at that
17:12
time, right? Yeah, I didn't put the
17:15
center on. No center yet. I mean,
17:17
because I was just a dream. Yeah,
17:19
that had not been. Or wasn't even
17:21
a dream yet. But the North American
17:23
Bigfoot stuff is great. And then like
17:25
having a smaller group, it was a
17:27
little bit tighter and in a smaller space,
17:29
it was nice. We limited the 12. Yeah,
17:32
it was just the right amount of people.
17:34
I learned that from fishing in Southern California,
17:36
because you can go pay money at like,
17:38
you know, 40 bucks or something and go
17:41
on a party boat, so to speak. And
17:43
there could be. eight people on board there
17:45
could be 60 people on board you just don't
17:47
know way different experience but if you want to
17:49
fish in a more reasonable situation you can go
17:52
on a limited load thing and pay like twice
17:54
as much like 80 bucks or 100 I mean
17:56
this is back in you know the 90s or whatever
17:58
so I'm sure it's much more expensive now,
18:00
but you could spend like a hundred
18:02
bucks or 80 bucks or something and
18:04
go on a limited load trip of
18:06
24 people max and then probably catch
18:08
more fish because of it. So I kind of picked
18:11
that up from there. So yeah, well I was
18:13
gonna say since you're talking about money and
18:15
stuff like that I do want to touch
18:17
back on when I was talking about the
18:19
BFRO when I found out you know you
18:21
can pay to go on expeditions. there's always
18:23
these purists and people out there will complain
18:25
about anything on the internet of course so
18:28
people are like oh it's there you know
18:30
charging money to take people out in the
18:32
woods and this and that and I just want
18:34
to say 100% every cent I spent every dollar
18:36
I spent on BFOO stuff was totally worth
18:38
it and you know for anyone who's ever gone
18:40
on any of those trips they know they know
18:42
how amazing it is and oh yeah I mean
18:44
you spent 300 three hundred bucks and you get
18:46
all the knowledge that those people that are
18:48
putting on the exhibition in that experience
18:51
in that area like I mean I spent
18:53
tens of thousands of dollars in
18:55
fuel and brakes and transmissions and
18:57
you know gas you know just eating up
19:00
getting to know the area and then
19:02
someone's going to come out and just
19:04
absorb all that you know like I
19:06
always tell people like dude lawyers charge
19:08
four or five six hundred bucks an
19:10
hour and I'm charged less than that for
19:12
way way more return paying for it's all
19:15
right and I have no problem saying that
19:17
and anybody that's thinking about
19:19
it do it with any extra
19:21
that organization that you think is
19:23
that someone you want to support.
19:26
Just, you know, look and be careful
19:28
who you're supporting. But the
19:30
North American Bigfoot stuff, same
19:32
deal. Like, I feel like every cent
19:35
that people put into that, they
19:37
got, they doubled their money in
19:39
just like the sheer enjoyment of
19:41
that. We found like the best spot.
19:43
I don't want to give it away.
19:45
Just to say at the doorstep of.
19:47
what became the honey pot that
19:49
is still producing years later. That's
19:52
like one of our locations that
19:54
we regularly hit. And that was
19:56
like proximity of just being there
19:58
was amazing and And then having
20:00
the guest come, like you had, you
20:02
know, round robin of like amazing people,
20:05
you had Dr. Jeff Meldrum
20:07
came, Bobo came, Chris Menir came,
20:09
Derek Randall's came. Yeah, yeah. Like
20:11
every one of those trips was
20:14
cool because there's a little bit
20:16
different flavor to everyone's style and
20:18
what they brought to it. So
20:20
what are the, some of the big
20:22
foot activity things that you may
20:25
have witnessed during some of those
20:27
expeditions. Oh yeah. Well, you know, you know,
20:29
the first. trip that we had where
20:31
we went to what we'll call Lindsay
20:34
Lake because nobody knows what that is.
20:36
It's not on a map. You won't find
20:38
it. You know, I observed some stuff
20:40
in a thermal with someone else.
20:42
I was almost certain that
20:45
something was happening that I
20:47
was possibly seeing a Sasquatch
20:49
and I just can't be sure, but
20:51
based on everything else that
20:53
has happened there since then. Seems
20:56
totally logical that I saw a
20:58
Sasquatch. Yeah, I think it was.
21:00
Because there's been so much evidence
21:02
that's come out of there. Were
21:04
you there the next day? Yeah.
21:07
And the next day, there's a
21:09
visual daylight signing when like we're
21:11
sitting in a hut like the
21:13
client and her her son and
21:15
Scott and I are sitting around.
21:18
I think that's it. We hiked
21:20
a mile and a mile down
21:22
into a swamp and with. the
21:24
grass and ferns grown like over our
21:27
heads into this swampy area and you
21:29
know I'll let you tell the story because
21:31
I can't well the way I remember exactly
21:33
how it happened the way I remember
21:36
it is that we're sitting there kind
21:38
of like by the creek that flows
21:40
out of the swamp yeah and and
21:42
and we're just hanging out and then
21:44
the sun says what was that or
21:46
something like that it was it was at
21:48
a bear I remember he said it was
21:50
a bear And we got excited. I had a video
21:52
camera, I think, with me. Like, I want to see
21:55
you there. Where's that footage? I haven't thought about that.
21:57
Yeah. So let's go look. Okay. So you and I
21:59
split up. Like, I took. Yeah. right-hand wall and
22:01
you took the left-hand wall. And
22:03
we kind of tried to scissor-pinch
22:05
the bear. I just want to say
22:07
like everyone that you would ask about
22:09
like encountering wild animals in
22:11
the forest would say that we did
22:14
everything 100% wrong. Wrong. But like I'm
22:16
glad we did it. Like that was
22:18
crazy and cool and like we definitely
22:20
could have died under one of us.
22:22
No, I just maybe we could have died
22:24
chasing them through the terrain was so
22:26
insane. We remember it was like literally
22:28
the slippery logs and then we got
22:31
it with slippery logs and there was
22:33
dead fall everywhere and you'd be like, all
22:35
right, just got to get up this hill and
22:37
you get to the top and then crash
22:39
through and fall down into some other dead
22:41
fall and meanwhile you're like, it's over
22:43
there, it's over there, like running. I've
22:45
never seen you move so fast.
22:47
Because at that point, how many
22:49
years have we been hanging out?
22:51
Like 10 or 12 years. I
22:53
always concern my energy for situations
22:55
just like, like we're just sitting
22:57
there chilling and you're like, it's
23:00
a Bobo talk. Go and like, go that
23:02
way and like, go that way and you
23:04
just ran off into the woods and I'm
23:06
like, okay, I'm going that way. But well,
23:09
we split up at some point and where
23:11
the thing had walked and walked and
23:13
walked across a log. And again,
23:15
at this point. Scots over way
23:17
on one side I can't even see
23:20
him we have radio I'm way I'm
23:22
like on the on this bowl shape
23:24
sort of slope above where the thing
23:26
was and we're poking around and
23:28
I don't know I can't remember
23:31
what came first but at some
23:33
point oh you know what it was
23:35
I remember what came first because
23:37
the the guy who saw it
23:39
originally said which one of you
23:41
guys just walked back there. What
23:44
do you mean? One of you guys
23:46
walked back in the same spot that
23:48
I just saw it, which one of
23:50
you was it? And like you were
23:52
way across like in the meadowy swamp
23:55
area and like I'm over this. Neither
23:57
one of us. So we hauled over
23:59
there. and I go and then we
24:01
hear a knock just like bam bam
24:04
like from close I'm thinking holy smokes
24:06
this is it man this and I
24:08
thought again one of those times I
24:11
thought we're gonna get on film for
24:13
sure and um and I went there
24:15
and we found the log there was
24:18
a footprint in the moss on that
24:20
log I have photographs of it also
24:22
I'll share with our members of course
24:24
you want to be a member go
24:27
to the website and click the appropriate
24:29
things and so there was a footprint
24:31
on the log I was two minutes
24:34
behind it and I did not see
24:36
the darn thing. Just another one of
24:38
those close calls at a spot that
24:41
is still active to this day. To
24:43
this day. Yeah, I literally, I mean,
24:45
I don't just take people there willy-nilly.
24:47
I take trusted friends there and it's
24:50
people that don't even go big footing
24:52
and they're not going to blow the
24:54
spot up. But every time I take
24:57
someone there, they're like, hey, let's go
24:59
check out this cool spot. There's a
25:01
lake, you know, might see some birds.
25:04
There's definitely bats. It's so cool, you
25:06
know, sunset. There's like hundreds of bats.
25:08
It's amazing. And every time I've gone,
25:10
there's been noises. But one of the
25:13
other things that was really cool about
25:15
your expeditions that I remembered were going
25:17
to the Thomas site for the first
25:20
time. I mean, I'm 50 now, I
25:22
was like 46, 45. I don't remember
25:24
how it was when this happened, but
25:27
like walking up there and seeing that.
25:29
It just like I had I had
25:31
a shift and so I mean it's
25:33
like because I remember the pictures of
25:36
like them standing in the hole and
25:38
like John Green or whoever standing next
25:40
to it or I mean I you
25:43
tell me I can't remember if that's
25:45
who it isn't maybe in the photo
25:47
Bob Titmas maybe. No but there's pictures
25:50
of binder dogal there there's pictures of
25:52
a few other folks or de Hinden.
25:54
There's a couple pictures of him in
25:56
the whole I've never seen one of
25:59
John Green that I remember. Yeah, but
26:01
my bad, but I just felt like
26:03
I walked into a book. I pulled
26:06
off the shelf when I was in.
26:08
Is that the coolest? I remember going
26:10
there too when Cliff took me there
26:13
and I was like, Glenn Toss, I
26:15
see those rock stack. Like I remember
26:17
those exact piles and I was like,
26:19
oh my, this is the whole, he
26:22
was in like, this is the whole,
26:24
yeah, those other guys took pictures in
26:26
and all this. Shoulders up, this is
26:29
surreal, I love it. It's cool. And
26:31
it's a nice place. And it's there.
26:33
And there. And to just there. And
26:36
to just there. And to just like,
26:38
to just like, like, like, like, like,
26:40
like, like, like, like, like, like, like,
26:42
like, like, like, like, like, like, like,
26:45
like, like, like, like, like, like, like,
26:47
like, like, like, like, like, like, like,
26:49
like, like, like, like, like, like, like,
26:52
like, like, like, like, like, like, like,
26:54
like the expeditions. It was the people
26:56
too and it sounds corny, but like,
26:59
looking through those photos of every trip,
27:01
I'm like, oh yeah, like, I remember
27:03
them, that was a cool conversation. Those
27:05
people were nice. Those people seem like
27:08
they were just getting into it and
27:10
now they're like, they're doing it, you
27:12
know, like, it just worked. So, that
27:15
was cool, good work. It was a
27:17
lot of fun. It was a lot
27:19
of fun in a really neat opportunity.
27:22
I took some of that money, of
27:24
course, and I put it, of course,
27:26
and I put it into the, and
27:28
I put it into the And I
27:31
got to give Scott full credit, man,
27:33
that the museum would not be probably
27:35
alive today if it was not for
27:38
him. A lot of the design concepts
27:40
are his. He really got me going
27:42
in the right direction. It was absolutely
27:44
fantastic. And I really, the entirety of
27:47
the rest of my life is in
27:49
part due to my friend here. And
27:51
I can't sing his praises high enough,
27:54
man. All of the displays and stuff
27:56
are basically his design or copied there
27:58
from you know I'm doing the design
28:01
now I guess you know but I
28:03
basically copied just what Scott laid out
28:05
in front of me everything that any
28:07
BC is is because of Scott so
28:10
I can't he's been so important in
28:12
my life you know so it's just
28:14
really really great to see where we
28:17
all are today based on that chance
28:19
meeting in Covalo California in 2008. It's
28:21
insane and I appreciate the hell out
28:24
of that cliff and that means more
28:26
than you know, essentially with the North
28:28
American Bigfoot Center. It's like you went.
28:30
from like your idea to something that
28:33
like became like your Melissa's idea to
28:35
like sharing it with me and then
28:37
it became our idea and we like
28:40
kind of conjured this thing and now
28:42
years later you have employees you have
28:44
people that you're supporting you have people
28:47
that come to you that want to
28:49
work there you have people coming and
28:51
visiting you every day like this fully
28:53
functioning thing and like you said it's
28:56
support to you It started as an
28:58
idea, you trusted me, you asked me
29:00
to help you, and I won in
29:03
that, you know, transaction, even though you're
29:05
like, you're like doing this thing or
29:07
like, yay, and I'm like, I, even
29:10
just doing it, like, I'm happy, like,
29:12
this is, I'm stoked. Now back when
29:14
you were in Southern California, you were
29:16
doing the local mountains and very, very
29:19
few people actually go big footing in
29:21
the local... Southern California mountains. Far too
29:23
few, by the way, in my opinion.
29:26
So if you're down there listening in
29:28
Los Angeles, get your butts to the
29:30
woods. They are also there. But you
29:33
went one time with Josh and Old
29:35
timer, legendary Bigfooter in some ways, Richard
29:37
Hucklebridge. Yeah, you remember, I mean, I
29:39
think a lot of people probably recognize
29:42
the name. I mean, I think probably
29:44
Richard is most famous. for purchasing the
29:46
very early infrared equipment that actually obtained
29:49
Sasquatch footage from the Chehalis project, which
29:51
is detailed in Tom Powell's excellent book
29:53
called The Locals. Richard Hucklebridge kicked down
29:56
a bunch of money for this night
29:58
vision equipment back in 2000 or 2001
30:00
when it was very expensive and very
30:02
primitive by today's standards. But you were
30:05
Richard's buddy for a long time and
30:07
would go out to the woods with
30:09
them and one night... You went looking
30:12
for Bigfoot, but something else found you.
30:14
Oh yeah, that's one of the most
30:16
memorable nights of my life. life and
30:19
I remember after it happened we were
30:21
saying like if we ever tell this
30:23
story no one's ever going to believe
30:25
us because we went big footing and
30:28
we saw UFO and like this is
30:30
like the coolest thing that ever happened
30:32
to me up to that point. I
30:35
got to say on that first Menocino
30:37
trip I also met a guy named
30:39
Josh Grollman. He's in LA. Super Solid
30:42
Guy. one of my best friends ever
30:44
met that guy on the trip and
30:46
I kind of remember I'm like man
30:48
that guy's a little grumpy but like
30:51
that's Josh and he's great and he's
30:53
like one of my best homies and
30:55
we realized we lived and you know
30:58
again oh you have to go back
31:00
to LA yeah me too and we
31:02
lived in pretty close proximity out of
31:05
all the other people that came on
31:07
that trip so we ended up hanging
31:09
out spending a lot of time out
31:11
there. And we somehow linked up with
31:14
Richard, another one of my favorite people.
31:16
Picture Wilford Brimley and Bigfooting with him.
31:18
So he's awesome. And we, he had
31:21
a tow truck driver that would drive
31:23
people up and down Angeles crest and
31:25
he eventually started contacting Richard and getting
31:28
reports and then Richard would go check
31:30
him out. And he got some reports
31:32
of someone. this pot truck driver watched
31:34
some bigfoots on Iron Mountain near there's
31:37
a mine near Iron Mountain which is
31:39
near what's the what's a little town
31:41
right right would or right would or
31:44
oh there's right wood yeah so there's
31:46
that Blue Ridge Parkway that goes through
31:48
the ski area and we we went
31:51
out there just checking it out and
31:53
doing calls and and listening and it
31:55
was super windy so we weren't really
31:57
hearing anything and we ended up seeing
32:00
this crazy light in the sky. Well
32:02
now one of the cool things about
32:04
this particular UFO observation is that you
32:07
had a recorder running the entire time.
32:09
Yeah, yeah Josh had a voice recorder
32:11
like in his pocket so that was
32:14
running and I had a video camera
32:16
and it was 1230 at night so
32:18
it was in the car and we
32:20
were just standing out on this ridge
32:23
in the wind. watching this thing and
32:25
I remember being like I don't I
32:27
don't want to look away from it
32:30
I'm not going to get my camera
32:32
but whatever I'm just going to watch
32:34
it and we watch this thing and
32:37
I just like the next day Josh
32:39
called me like dude I taped that
32:41
last night my recorder was going I
32:43
was like not even thinking about it
32:46
you know we didn't get any house
32:48
I didn't think about the Bigfoot stuff
32:50
forgot about it dude there's recordings of
32:53
us any he emailed him to me
32:55
and I listened to him and I
32:57
just remember like my jaw dropped to
33:00
the floor because like I was there
33:02
I saw it listening to myself see
33:04
it with my friends seeing it and
33:06
knowing what we all saw it like
33:09
it shifted my perspective I took me
33:11
back to it and I'm like dude
33:13
we were watching something that we are
33:16
dumbfounded by Stay
33:18
tuned for more Bigfoot and beyond
33:20
with Clifin Bobo. We'll be right
33:22
back after these messages. Well, what did
33:24
you see? Like, what did it look
33:27
like? How did this whole thing just
33:29
walk us through what actually happened
33:31
before we listened to the recording?
33:33
So to set it up, we're on
33:35
a we're on a fire road at
33:38
the top of a valley and on
33:40
the other side of the valley, there
33:42
are a couple different peaks. and it
33:45
was dark, but you could see the
33:47
sky, you could see like planes
33:49
flying around and stuff down in
33:51
LA, like way in the distance, all
33:53
the lights, but really quiet up in
33:56
Angel's crest. So there's, you know, you
33:58
can see a tree line on our
34:00
right hand side and kind of behind
34:03
us where we're standing. And then we
34:05
were looking down out across, you
34:07
know, we were looking up in
34:09
the sky just listening. And then I
34:11
remember Josh or myself or somebody was
34:14
like, hey, what's that down there and
34:16
what's that light? And we were talking
34:18
about and watching this light and it
34:21
was down in the valley and it
34:23
was in the trees. and was
34:25
moving through the trees. And we
34:27
were like, what's that light? Moving through
34:29
the trees. Like that's very obviously what
34:32
it was. And Richard did search and
34:34
rescue for L.A. County. So he was
34:36
very familiar with the area and he's
34:39
like, there's no roads down there. Like
34:41
that's a light in the trees.
34:43
It's like somebody going, I don't
34:45
know, but it was going kind of
34:48
fast. And we were like, is a
34:50
car? Like we were like. Like we
34:52
were confused enough that we're like it's
34:55
moving too fast to be a person
34:57
But it's in the trees, so that's
34:59
all I know like we saw
35:01
light in the trees and it
35:03
was going faster than a person Far
35:06
away across this valley and we kind
35:08
of we watch that and Nothing happened
35:10
and we've moved on and Josh we
35:13
kind of after we saw we saw
35:15
next we didn't even think about that
35:17
But when Josh sent me the
35:19
recordings is like here's two recordings
35:21
and we recorded that watching this light
35:24
And then we moved on, went to
35:26
another overlook, did a how, and we're
35:28
sitting there, waiting, and about a minute
35:31
into that, they're like, what's that light
35:33
over there? And I was like, well,
35:35
that's that light we saw earlier.
35:37
It's a, yeah, it's the same
35:39
light. It's right there. So it was
35:42
like, whatever that light appeared, it was
35:44
like whitish yellow. It was the same
35:46
thing. And it was kind of behind
35:49
us, above the tree line that had
35:51
been behind us when we were watching
35:53
it, when we were watching it.
35:55
but still a little off, but
35:57
we could use the tree line to
36:00
gauge how it was moving, and it
36:02
was moving up and down. and up
36:04
like and but not in any pattern
36:07
it wasn't going up and down and
36:09
up and down it was like what
36:11
and then it was going left
36:13
and right doing the same thing
36:15
where it was like moving I'm like
36:18
depending on how far away it was
36:20
if it was close it moved pretty
36:22
fast like way to the left and
36:25
then it went way to the right
36:27
again and then now it's back where
36:29
it started like it was like
36:31
it was on a string or
36:33
was dancing and we're like what is
36:36
that We're watching that talking about that
36:38
and then it like moved across the
36:41
sky and we didn't really talk about
36:43
that but I remember watching it was
36:45
like so if you like panned left
36:48
to right 180 field of vision
36:50
we watched it go out over
36:52
the peaks out kind of over the
36:54
like where would be the ocean on
36:56
the other side of the mountains and
36:59
it was doing the same stuff and
37:01
it was changing colors and it was
37:03
moving up and down and back and
37:06
forth and then it would like
37:08
stop and then We were like,
37:10
like, do a how? And I was
37:12
like, come over here. And they were
37:14
like, no, don't come over here. We
37:17
were kind of joking with each other,
37:19
laughing. And they're like, God, just do
37:21
a how. And so I was like,
37:24
woo. And I yelled and it
37:26
changed colors. And it moved kind
37:28
of abruptly. And then it changed into
37:30
like a solid color and just started
37:32
going. And like I think Josh stopped
37:35
his recorder because I remember just like
37:37
watching it until it disappeared and he
37:39
was like, it's gone. And then Richard
37:42
was like, no, I see it's
37:44
blinking. Like I see and that
37:46
was the thing. It stopped changing colors
37:48
and stopped blinking. It was just a
37:50
white light and it went flying like
37:53
I'm a clock at three o'clock. It
37:55
flew around the clock to like 11
37:57
10 o'clock. and then it started blinking
38:00
and got small and it went and
38:02
it looked like the plane going
38:04
out the ocean. And now, 2025,
38:06
people are saying this is happening in
38:08
New Jersey, all, like, since November, it's
38:11
going on all the time. And my
38:13
mom sent me videos. Like, I saw
38:15
the drones. And like, they're calling them
38:18
drones. I'm like, that wasn't a drone.
38:20
That was, like, 2010. And it
38:22
was like, it did spectacular things.
38:24
It wasn't a drone. Like, if you
38:26
have a drone and a drone and
38:29
a drone moves, like, like, okay, the
38:31
drones buzzing over there. It was like
38:33
it was like on a string and
38:36
it was like yank yank yank what
38:38
like balancing and then it would
38:40
be smooth and then it would
38:42
like seesaw and like swing around it
38:45
was like it was the craziest thing
38:47
I've ever seen and it just flew
38:49
away and we're like what the hell
38:52
was that and what do we do
38:54
with that like we went I remember
38:56
going back to the campsite and
38:58
we were all sober I have
39:00
to say that we're all sober Richard
39:03
was in the like military and rescue
39:05
and he's LA County sheriff's deputy Josh's
39:07
like pretty like corporate kind of guy
39:10
he's got a really like serious job
39:12
and like I was just there and
39:14
I'm like I'm I'm skater but
39:16
like I saw it like and
39:18
we're sitting there like what did you
39:21
see and we're like I'm drawing it
39:23
in the dirt with the stick it
39:25
was like it looked like a light
39:28
but then it looked like kind of
39:30
half a light like a like a
39:32
walnut or something but it was
39:34
dark I don't know then we
39:36
get bright I don't know and he's
39:39
like sometimes it look like So either
39:41
way, I was like, nobody's going to
39:43
believe this. Like, we went big footing,
39:46
saw UFO, this is nuts. Like, what
39:48
do we do? So I like, I
39:50
emailed Mufon, and I wrote this
39:52
long letter, and I told Matt,
39:54
he was like, dude, we got this
39:57
long letter, and he was like, dude,
39:59
we got to animate this, we're going
40:01
to put it, like, what are you
40:04
going to do? You got to move
40:06
on with your life? or you do
40:08
what I did and then you
40:10
just go down the rabbit hole.
40:12
You're like... What was that? No, I
40:15
want to know. And you started asking
40:17
questions and you asked other people. And
40:19
this is like, I'm already doing that
40:22
with Sasquatch stuff and I'm getting crazy
40:24
answers. Like, whoa, that's just making it
40:26
more confusing. Let me try to
40:28
straighten it out over here. Oh,
40:30
here's something I saw. Maybe this would
40:33
like make more sense. Well, sorry, that
40:35
doesn't make any sense either. I went
40:37
back in my email because Matt had
40:40
sent that to me right after it
40:42
happened. Well, let's play the sound file
40:45
real quick. Look at that light.
40:47
Look at that light over there.
40:49
Yeah. Pardon? What the hell? Yeah, it's
40:51
coming off the Air Force Base there,
40:53
come here. They have a... It's moving,
40:56
and it's really weird. Hey, stop and
40:58
it's starting. What's that? Holy... I turned
41:00
my light on the other. What the
41:03
hell is it doing? It's dancing!
41:05
The sunbeas is dancing! I got
41:07
it. My camera wouldn't even pick that
41:09
up right now. I'm not even going
41:11
to turn... I'm not going to blink.
41:14
What the fuck? That came from where
41:16
we were just looking at the light
41:18
that was in the freaking trees. What
41:21
the hell is that? I don't
41:23
know, but it's your dancing. Look
41:25
at that. It's stopping. Stopping a dancing,
41:27
up and down. Son of a bitch.
41:29
What the fuck? We're right here. Come
41:32
see us. Don't. Come see us. Come
41:34
see us. I'm over here. I feel
41:36
pretty good about our distance right now.
41:39
Yeah, I do too. I feel
41:41
good at distance. Wait, looks like
41:43
it's awesome. It looks like it's going
41:45
a little further away. It's not doing
41:47
it. It is going up and down.
41:50
What the fuck? Change colors. It turned
41:52
red and went out and went back
41:54
on. It's gone. No, it's still there.
41:57
I can't see it now. It's
41:59
blaken. It's blaken. Blaken. Blaken. Blink,
42:01
blink, blink, blink. And that's the end
42:03
of the recording right there. Yeah, that's
42:05
all I got from him. It might
42:08
have gone on, I'm not sure. I
42:10
do want to say, he was like,
42:12
oh, it's very slowly moving off. And
42:15
then as it started moving away, it
42:17
was like, okay, that's a different
42:19
thing. And then at the very
42:21
end, I was like, that looks way
42:23
different too. And I just kind of,
42:26
I don't know, like I still am
42:28
not sure, like sometimes I'm like, maybe
42:30
it was like a really drone, but
42:33
like, even now, like, do drones do
42:35
that? Like, I don't know, do
42:37
they do like zero gravity maneuvers
42:39
kind of like, I don't want to
42:42
say zero gravity, but it was just
42:44
like. It wasn't windy and it like,
42:46
oh, it got buffeted a little this
42:49
way and that way. It was like
42:51
bobbing and going over here and then
42:53
going back there. Like, it, either
42:55
way. You saw some weird stuff
42:57
is the bottom line. Like, and that's
43:00
just like one of the things, you
43:02
know, it's, uh, it's a trip. I
43:04
was told a very, very long time
43:07
ago, probably like, 1993 or something like
43:09
that. Someone told me that if you
43:11
put your weird antenna up, you'll
43:13
attract some weird stuff, but it
43:15
may not be quite what you expect.
43:18
And I think this is one of
43:20
those examples where you went out Bigfooting
43:22
and you saw something totally unexplainable. It
43:25
has nothing to do with Bigfoot, but
43:27
it's very weird. What a treasure. Yeah,
43:29
whatever it was, it was like
43:31
hooked me on even more. I'm
43:33
like, I need more of that. And
43:36
it's just like. Was that Henry Franzoni
43:38
that said that? No, no. He should
43:40
have. He should have. He probably said
43:43
that to somebody. Stay tuned for more
43:45
Bigfoot and beyond. with Clifin Bobo, we'll
43:47
be right back after these messages.
43:49
A lot of weird stuff happens
43:51
in those hills, man. I mean, we
43:54
hear about a fair amount of it
43:56
because there's a lot of people living
43:58
in Los Angeles, but she's also spent
44:01
a lot of time out there. Are
44:03
there any other stories or weird occurrences
44:05
or something that happened in the
44:07
Southern California mountains you want to
44:09
share with us? Yeah, I mean, there's
44:12
all kinds of... little things that are
44:14
cool, like just following up on stuff
44:16
and finding like a cool swimming hole
44:19
or something like, wow, I didn't know
44:21
that was here. LA is kind of
44:23
desolate and it's really, really rugged
44:25
terrain. I don't know if San
44:27
Bernardino and the San Gabriel Mountains, lots
44:30
of like really treacherous rock and yuckens,
44:32
like very desert inhospitable environment, and then
44:34
there's like little oases and hidden waterfalls
44:37
and things like that things like that.
44:39
I went with Matt and Josh and
44:41
we followed up on some footprints
44:44
that a hunter found. Found those
44:46
photos today. They're still interesting. And we
44:48
had a, you know, kind of a,
44:50
we went up there at night instead
44:53
of waiting for daytime and couldn't find
44:55
the prints and tromphed all over them
44:57
and left. And then Josh and I
45:00
went back the next day. We're
45:02
like, dude, we got to go
45:04
back in the light. And we went
45:06
and we found our prints, like walking
45:08
all through the other prints. and then
45:11
there was like one salvageable that we
45:13
tried to cast. So that's fun. I
45:15
still have that cast. But yeah, you
45:18
know, I kept driving by the
45:20
sign that said Devils Canyon. And
45:22
I think I was reading like Henry
45:24
Franzoni's stuff and he was talking about
45:26
place names and double place names. And
45:29
I'm like, Devils Canyon. That's like Sasquatch,
45:31
dude. I got to get in there.
45:33
Yeah. And it just, you know, never
45:36
found the time for it. And,
45:38
uh... I was like, you know,
45:40
I proposed to this, my girlfriend. and
45:42
I decided I was going to ask
45:44
my buddy to be my best man.
45:47
And I'm like, I could like double-diff
45:49
on this. I could go do something
45:51
cool with Casey and then ask him,
45:54
you know, it was a big
45:56
deal. I never got married before.
45:58
I'm like, I don't know what I'm
46:00
supposed to do. Maybe he can tell
46:02
me. So I'm going to ask him.
46:05
Another single dude, of course he didn't
46:07
know anything. But I was like, hey,
46:09
you want to go hiking. I'm going
46:12
to check out. I'm going to
46:14
go hiking. I'm going to check
46:16
out. I'm going to check out. So
46:18
he's like, sure, I mean, yeah, it
46:20
was kind of, so we're in LA,
46:23
we like skate and surf and walk
46:25
around and flip flops and like, not
46:27
really too serious. And you're like, you
46:30
want to go Devil's Canyon and the
46:32
mountains? You're like, sure. And you're
46:34
like flip flops and shorts and,
46:36
you know, maybe a beer or water
46:38
or something. And we ended up hiking
46:41
down there, but at the time I
46:43
didn't, my car was broken and I
46:46
borrowed my girlfriend's car and when I
46:48
left. I was just joking, I'm like,
46:50
yeah, if I'm not back by
46:52
five, call cops. And she's like,
46:54
hi, okay. And I left and forgot
46:57
I said that. So we drove up
46:59
an hour to Devils Canyon, parked, hiked
47:01
down, like midway down, ran into a
47:04
bear, and it was kind of a
47:06
narrow canyon, and kind of had to
47:08
navigate around this bear. So it
47:10
was pretty exciting. Got down, checked
47:12
out the waterfall, didn't find anything bigfootty,
47:15
but. I had done my research and
47:17
I went on the internet and I
47:19
went on some ancient web page for
47:22
hiking and I had found that there
47:24
was this shortcut to get out of
47:26
Devil's Canyon. You go up the
47:28
side thing called Skull Canyon. I'm
47:30
like, all right, this is going to
47:33
be good. So Casey's like, what are
47:35
we going to do, man? Like there's
47:37
a bear. And I'm like, well, bear
47:40
might be gone, but we could pop
47:42
up the side canyon. Skull. Skull canyon,
47:44
no problem. You know, that it's
47:46
better than double scanning, you know,
47:48
I'll go up that way. And in
47:51
the... It was like, yeah, it was
47:53
vague. It was like, go up two
47:55
waterfalls and then you go to the
47:58
right and then you go up on
48:00
the right side of the third waterfall
48:02
and then you pop to the
48:04
right and the roads right there.
48:06
Walk to your car and you're out
48:09
instead of going to the bear. So
48:11
my buddy Casey and I have been
48:13
climbing up. We went up and I
48:16
thought I heard some noise. I'm like,
48:18
oh, that was a car. And he's
48:20
like, I don't know, man. And
48:22
we got to. This spot and
48:24
we're like, okay, is this third waterfall
48:27
or the second waterfall like I don't
48:29
know like kind of went up some
48:31
waterfall type stuff very ambiguous Apparently it
48:34
was the second waterfall and I'm like,
48:36
okay, this is the third waterfall. We
48:38
got to go to the right
48:40
so would pop over on the
48:43
right side of it and he's like
48:45
it's like a cliff dude like what
48:47
do we do? I'm like oh, you
48:50
just got to go up the side
48:52
You know near the waterfall part. It's
48:54
less of a cliff you just hug
48:57
that and like diagonal diagonal all
48:59
up And I'm just like pointing
49:01
up this slope of yucca and he's
49:03
like, all right, climb up. So I
49:05
started climbing up and, you know, again,
49:08
we're skateboarders, like, we can do anything.
49:10
We jump off 10 foot buildings, whatever,
49:12
down handrails, I can climb up this
49:15
shale cliff and we're climbing and
49:17
I'm like pulling yucca and it's
49:19
like pulling out dislodging rocks and I
49:21
made a mini avalanche avalanche and I
49:23
made a mini avalanche. see you down
49:26
there, I'm going to go down to
49:28
the other place and walk up the
49:30
way we came in. And I'm like,
49:33
all right, kind of like give
49:35
up and slide down. And totally
49:37
the right decision on his part. We
49:39
get down to the more manageable place,
49:41
the waterfalls, and we're hiking back down
49:44
to where we had started and made
49:46
that terrible decision. And there was a
49:48
little... like overlook for this waterfall and
49:51
the overlook that was kind of
49:53
like a And he's like, man,
49:55
I can't believe you did this to
49:57
me. And I was like, yeah, I
49:59
didn't even get to ask you to
50:02
be my best man for my wedding.
50:04
And he's like, what are you talking
50:06
about? I'm like, I brought you out
50:09
here. I was going to ask
50:11
you to be my best man.
50:13
He's like, oh, of course I'll do
50:15
that. But we got to get out
50:17
of here. And it's getting dark. And
50:20
I'm just like, yeah. I'll just stay
50:22
here. We'll be fine. We'll just hike
50:24
out in the morning. The cave, we'll
50:27
make a fire. So we did
50:29
that and had like meagre supplies.
50:31
So we like, hi, for some reason
50:33
I had that little stupid space blanket
50:35
in the plastic, the aluminum thing, and
50:38
I'm like, all right, hey, Casey, I
50:40
got a space blanket, you know, so
50:43
I shook that out, you know, the
50:45
dusty ass space blanket I had
50:47
for 10 years. It finally gets
50:49
to use this thing. I'm like, this
50:51
is probably why I got diabetes. Like,
50:54
I like, I had skittles and like
50:56
a beer and weed. That's like it.
50:58
So we're like, let's eat these skittles
51:01
and like play word games. And it
51:03
was like, I don't know. It was
51:05
like, we went through levels of
51:07
like psychological like despair and like
51:09
keeping it. It's okay, man, we're gonna
51:12
make it. It's cool. Don't worry. Don't
51:14
worry about it. Don't worry about it.
51:16
My girlfriend's going to be really pissed
51:19
at me because I didn't bring her
51:21
car back. She's going to be worried.
51:23
And then I started thinking about
51:25
like, oh, she's going to be
51:27
worried about me. Like, all right. And
51:30
I started really thinking about that and
51:32
like being sensitive. Like, oh man, I'm
51:34
a terrible person. And I just remember
51:37
being like, dude, you know, it's fine.
51:39
We'll get out of here. It's like,
51:41
like, what, we got like six
51:43
hours left or something. It's not
51:45
that it's not that long. It's not
51:48
that long. We hear this noise and
51:50
I'm like, sounds like. I don't know,
51:52
it sounds like thunder, and I'm like,
51:55
no, it's just going. And then I
51:57
remember being like, it's like a tank.
51:59
So we're, you know, we're in
52:01
this little overlook at the top
52:03
of a waterfall that's in a canyon,
52:06
and a canyon goes straight out and
52:08
kind of curves to the left. And
52:10
you can see like trees and sky,
52:13
and we're sitting there, like the noise
52:15
is getting louder, and the canyon starts
52:17
lighting up. And we're like, whoa.
52:19
this helicopter comes around the corner
52:21
with like search light down in the
52:24
canyon and it's like definitely loud like
52:26
oh it's a helicopter so we're sitting
52:28
there and I'm like what I've never
52:31
seen a helicopter like a hundred feet
52:33
away at you know a night in
52:35
the mountains sign a search light
52:37
at me this is insane and
52:39
I'm like oh Casey just jumps up
52:42
and it's like we're saved and he
52:44
like runs out and he's like standing
52:47
on top of this waterfall in the
52:49
space blanket and he's waving the space
52:51
blanket and the helicopter flies over and
52:54
it shines a searchlight down on
52:56
this. I'm sitting there like, whoa,
52:58
like watching this, like, is this really
53:00
happening? And it was like, wind was
53:02
flying, there's rocks flying and like, there's
53:05
a helicopter 50 feet above us and
53:07
they're like, on the radio, I can't
53:09
hear, like, I'm half deaf, so I'm
53:12
like. What are they saying? In
53:14
cases like, yeah, like yelling, I
53:16
don't know if they could hear. Vegas
53:18
they were like, you know, we're gonna
53:20
get you out of here and I'm
53:23
sitting there and like this guy comes
53:25
down of like a rope and like
53:27
comes out of the helicopter. Helicothers hovering
53:30
like, I don't know, like 50
53:32
feet, 75 feet in the air
53:34
and this light, the dude comes down
53:36
on the rope and he lands. and
53:38
unhooks and he comes running over and
53:41
he's like all dressed and black and
53:43
he's got night vision goggles he's like
53:45
yes okay we're gonna get you out
53:48
of here and we're like, my
53:50
friends like, yes, get us out
53:52
of here. And I'm just like, yeah.
53:54
They're like, we're gonna get you out
53:56
of here. I'm like, Casey, you go
53:59
first. He's like, all right. And I'm
54:01
just like vaguely watching him and the
54:03
guy does something and they go up
54:06
the zip line in the air
54:08
and I'm watching there and I'm
54:10
sitting there and I'm like, okay. I
54:12
guess I'm ready to go. I'm ready
54:14
to go. on the rope and I'm
54:17
like, what do I do? And he's
54:19
like, grab on. And I was like,
54:21
thinking like, is there like a thing
54:24
you clip on me? And he's
54:26
just like, and he takes my
54:28
arms and puts him around his waist
54:30
and he grabs me and he's like,
54:32
says something, the radio and we go
54:35
up the rope. So I'm like in
54:37
the air, like, I'm in like Arnold
54:39
Schwarzenegger movie and I go up and
54:42
they like pushed me into the
54:44
helicopter. So now I'm like on
54:46
the floor of the helicopter on my
54:48
hands and knees looking around like I've
54:51
never been a helicopter before is surreal
54:53
it's like kind of moving but like
54:55
still like an elevator when it stops
54:58
just continuously the moment when your stomach's
55:00
up and down I'm like well
55:02
what the hell's going on the
55:04
guy comes over with a notebook and
55:06
he's like are you so-and-so's fiancee and
55:09
I'm like yep and he's like we
55:11
got him and they're like okay Roger
55:13
that dupe and they start driving away
55:16
in the helicopter and I'm sitting there
55:18
and Casey's sitting on the bench
55:20
and he's got a like a
55:22
nice blanket on and he's just glaring
55:24
at me and I'm like hey and
55:27
he's like just shaking his head I'm
55:29
like alright du du du and I'm
55:31
like there's a helipad and they like
55:34
land on the helipad I'm like this
55:36
is not the car. and they're like
55:38
all right you guys hop out
55:40
and we're like what do we
55:42
do and they're like you get out
55:45
of the helicopter and we're like I'm
55:47
like no do we have to pay
55:49
like what's going on there like do
55:52
you live in LA County and really
55:54
Yeah, you know, you can pay taxes
55:56
and yeah, you're like, all right,
55:58
you already paid thanks and just
56:00
get out. And I'm like, all right,
56:03
and we got out and then the
56:05
helicopter flew away and we're standing there
56:07
and we're like, where the hell are
56:10
we? We're on a helipad in the
56:12
middle of Angeles, crest, like, just like,
56:14
okay, there's LA down there, but
56:16
we're in the mountains still and
56:18
there's like, and there's like, where are
56:21
you doing? And we're like, like, I
56:23
don't know, like, what are we doing?
56:25
And he's like, I don't know. And
56:28
he just drove away. And we were
56:30
like, I guess follow him. We went
56:32
down and it was an emergency
56:34
room of a hospital in Azusa.
56:36
And I'm like, all right. Do you
56:39
have a phone in the intake nurse
56:41
was like, oh my lord, come in
56:44
here and like, are you okay? Are
56:46
you anybody bleeding and like, you know,
56:48
the nurse stuff? And I'm just looking
56:51
at Casey and hiking with you
56:53
again. Let that be listen to
56:55
everyone by the way. Well, I think
56:57
on that note, be safe in the
56:59
woods. Tell people where you're going. And
57:02
this is another excellent example of what
57:04
can come from that. So there you
57:06
go. That's crazy story. Scott. Yeah, that's
57:09
a nutty story. And well, thank
57:11
you. Thank you for coming on
57:13
the podcast and sharing some of the
57:15
weird things that have happened to you
57:17
over the time. If you want to
57:20
come visit Scott, he works at his
57:22
own shop, a record shop in Sandy
57:24
organ. You can always. Talk to him
57:27
on Instagram. It's a record shop
57:29

57:51
for. Any last minute thoughts here, Scott
57:53
before we get going? Yeah, I love
57:56
working with artists and creative people, so
57:58
anybody that's got ideas of things that
58:00
they want to make. Like, let's talk.
58:03
If I can't do it, I
58:05
think I know someone who can.
58:07
And there's a lot of really great
58:09
people in this community. Mount Hood is
58:11
a special place. We talk about it
58:14
often. There's not a lot of places
58:16
like this. There's a lot of creative
58:18
people here who run their own businesses,
58:21
and there's a little community that
58:23
does that. It's like a pleasure
58:25
interacting with those people, and I know
58:27
they're out there. I just, as I
58:29
see it happening in this record shop
58:32
all the time. It's a vortex. of
58:34
cool stuff. It was here before I
58:36
came here it was a skate shop
58:39
and this was happening and before
58:41
that it was like a gallery
58:43
and that was happening and this is
58:45
building this place like in proximity to
58:48
this magical mountain is like a really
58:50
cool spot to be and people come
58:52
in and like oh this is this
58:55
feels good I'm like yeah I know
58:57
right it's like it's a special
58:59
place and and if you come
59:01
here and buy a record you always
59:03
get a free record with that record.
59:06
You get a free record with that
59:08
record. You do. I got so many
59:10
records. So yeah, you get a free
59:13
record with every record that you buy.
59:15
All right. Bobo, final thoughts and
59:17
get us out of here. So
59:19
yeah, thanks to Scott for coming on
59:21
and we'll catch y'all next week. Until
59:24
then, y'all keep it spotchy. Subscribe to
