Another great fiction podcast from QCODE! Excellent soundscapes game to accompany the story. A story, I’m happy to report, with more descriptive dialog with characters saying what they are seeing, so we don’t have to guess what the big banging noises mean! If you like creepy, conspiratorial mysteries, give it a shot!
The good part: good acting and production. Apart from that, the story gets worse over time. It's stalling, using the therapy sesson as an obvious narration device, and when it reaches the end, well: it doesn't make sense. It's too trite, too contrived and lacks realism in its own world logic, while it relies on overexploited shock value. This podcast is based on a story that did well on the internet, but it fails to translate into an eight episode podcast. It's a cheap cash-in, like a movie about slenderman...The last episode ends on a low note - a letter explaining it all, in case the listener didn't get the whole plot, and also to reveal another "shock". At first it felt like the podcast makers didn't trust their audience and had to make the point again, overexplaining, but then it became clear: they don't trust their own story and had little to work with. Just google what the ending is about and save yourself some time.
Fairly captivating stuff. Although some of the writing feels a little stiff. The audio work is very good.
Woww! Borrasca is amazing ,it's absolutely one of my favorite podcasts. actually it has a wonderful story and it is lit. some podcasts are so boring and you don't want to continue. but this one wasn't like that and if you're looking for exciting and scary podcasts, specially for night , I definitely recommend this. I cannot wait for the second season!!😍💕
Exciting but gruesome.
It's well made and the voice acting is really good. However, it takes a cool horror/thriller story premise and turns it into a trauma ridden violence against women plot device. Hard to listen to and pretty disappointing.
Starts nicely but gets word as it goes on. It ends up being "tell" instead of "show", writing is not that intelligent. Characters are well created and acting is actually good though. Also production and sound design is good. Oh, well.
Writing: AVoice Acting: ASound Quality: A+Sound Creativity:B+Direction: ASam Walker, our protagonist, moves to Drisking (I think it's an anagram for something) MO when he is child. They move because his father got a job with the Sheriff's department in the town. On the first day, he hears a weird sound. The kids he meets are very cagey when he asks what it is. Not long after the move, his sister disappears. Sam believes that his Dad will find her. Years later, he is a bored, resentful teenager and his sister is still missing, along with several other girls. Because he has crush on a girl he goes to a regularly occuring party in the woods, a party that may or may not be related to the missing girls. After the first 10 minutes I was hooked and kept listening until the end. The plot is compelling, the characters are well developed, the voice acting is wonderful (most of the voice actors were professional s), and the sound effects are well placed. Its really slick. Is it the most original storyline? No, I have listened to a lot of podcast mysteries. Did I guess what was going on? kinda. The last time I was surprised was the end of the first season of Game of Thrones. I haven't forgiven George RR Martin for that one. Did the ending shock me? Not really. Did that stop me from listening to it obsessively? No. Don't wake until bedtime to listen you be up half the night listening.Borrasca was a story on r/nosleep that went viral. It has a Wikipedia page if you want to know more. There is sequel Borrasca V, which I understand was demanded by the fans. I read that it leads to a satisfying conclusion. I am not going to read it. I am happy with the unsettling conclusion in the podcast. It seems to fit given what we are going through right now.Disclaimer:Those who can do, doThose who can't do, teachThose who can't teach criticizeI am in the latter category which means I can only offer my opinion. First season is a gem. Plot might be a bit too much in terms of believability, but the idea is great. Second season is plain bad in term of plot but that has nothing to do with the production - on the contrary, they did their best to make it bearable, actors are great, sound and music and script are top notch
At times emotionally demanding but also a very engaging mystery.
I genuinely loved this and was hooked each week, until the final episode, and then I was a little upset at myself for having ever liked it. The audio quality is superb and the storytelling and scares are fun enough that it's worth a shot but-- well I don't want to spoil it, but if there are any real world horrors you don't enjoy finding in your fiction, maybe do yourself a favor and research the ending a little before you begin. It's gonna be for some people and not others.
Borrasca is an interesting thriller. It keeps you wondering what is really going on "out there." It would have been better if they had toned the vulgarity down though.
First heard this story on the Sleep No More podcast. I think the story was more effective in that adaptation. At just three hours long, the ride is too wild and fast to pause long enough and question the logic behind the story (like, yo, ever heard of adopting?) That said - the added world building and town lore in this new adaptation is fantastic. The acting is great - the sound design superb. The therapist/drug test framing device is the only real down side to this story - if I ever give this a re-listen, I'll totally fast forward thru that stuff.
Dark and gruesome. Great script and excellent performance.
you will wish there was a paranormal explanation to it all.the acting definitely makes this show. it's consistently great throughout seasons one and two. the story unfolds slowly and gives plenty of time for the listener to pick up the many clues and make a guess as to what is happening in the town of drinking.I'd say season one was a lot better than season two though. production quality is still top-notch, but the plot can take irritating turns. I'm not making a dig at the characters making irrational decisions influenced by emotions, trauma or addiction - that's actually very believable. it's just the writing gets a bit convoluted, and not in the way it did in season one when it was about mystery. I also wish the ending was a bit... different? less "pretty package complete with a perfect bow" and more... real.it's a good listen, though. tells a story of shit that affects millions of people in the world who deserve to be heard.
what i like about this story it has likable characters anda twist you don't see coming. it story comes full circle nicely.
Wow! What a gem!! Love the writing and production! Impressed by Cole Sprouce's (Disney's Suite Life of Zach and Cody) voice acting props!! He is a fantastic narrator who really sells the trauma he's experienced within the storyline and the effect it's had on his life. Would love to see more like this from the writer!! Excellent work!!
Twist just made me lose all interest.
Talk about an audio experience! Live C.K Walker and this adaptation is by far the best!
Hopefully the rest of the podcast comes out soon.
