RATING
Camp Here & There is an amazing show with excellent music and lovable characters. Sydney especially is incredibly easy to grow attached to. The spooky summer camp setting is intriguing, and the world building is so engaging and fun that you want to pack your hazmat suits and leave for the summer. I can't recommend this show enough.
Not really much to say, a funny if not confusing podcast that I hold close to my heart. Sad its over, glad it happened, 10/10
This supernatural comedy/horror drama with mystery elements follows the events at a summer camp, with most episodes including a mealtime report of camp activities followed by a more angsty section of character introspection and interaction. Themes include lack of autonomy, friendship/love (distanced friendships and desire for reconnection, miscommunication and lack of communication), especially in the main developing romance, and death/rebirth. Starting as a glimpse into a strange summer camp, the complicated character dynamics brought to life through acting and dialogue and developing mystery surrounding the camp and main character kept me invested in the story. The humor in earlier episodes especially is similar to that of Night Vale (nonchalant reporting of absurd happenings, a guy the main character hates and goes on tangents about), and the story is at its best when it is not trying to be Night Vale. The music is great.
The soundtrack was genuinely beautiful and the voice acting was really amazing. The storytelling was good although I feel like it could be better. Also a huge fan of Elijah Volkov's voice actor. It perfectly portrayed him and was really fit for his character
I love it so much <333
Really fun metaplot that creates an engaging mystery via episode descriptions that allows you to play red string brigade. The music by Will Wood is insanely fun and helps create the Camp Lazlo/Nightvale crossover energy that makes the show so fun and engaging
very excellent, not one i see myself relistening to though.
very absurd, queer, cute and actually pretty funny~ the sound design is alright, the voice actors are great, the music is super absurd and bombastic which suits it really well. underneath the wild & ridiculous hijinks is actually sum pretty deep explorations of the ways people are in relationship, tackling things like avoidant behaviours, falling apart, making mistakes and trying to do better. some of the jokes and gags are actually pretty genuinely hilarious (like the ongoing meal plan, esp the poor vegans, and the distrustful delivery people & their banter). there is also some light exploration of chronic illness, which the voice actor of the character (one of the creators) experience in their own life. highly recommend if u wanna smile and laugh at some queers fumbling about in a bizarre world where it sometimes rains acid and is under siege by militant penguins.
The world and events are so bizzare yet the people are so so real. I truly felt Sydneys emotions and that hurt but that’s exactly what it’s supposed to do. I love it so much.
Incredible characters, hilarious and heartbreaking dialogue, beautiful acting, amazing writing, I will never recover from this show. Can't wait for season two!!
