Kelli Morgan—The Winston & Carolyn Lowe Curatorial Fellow for Diversity in the Fine Arts at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (PAFA)— leads a gallery talk and facilitates discussion of Vox’s New Members Show, which includes artworks from Christopher Gianunzio, Sascha Hughes-Caley, Tina Plokarz, Imani Roach, Lane Speidel, Jim Strong, and Mina Zarfsaz.Morgan’s talk also occurs in relation to Always Be Dismantling, a Vox Member Collective initiative that seeks to examine and dismantle structural systems of prejudice and oppression. As part of Always Be Dismantling, Sunday’s discussion builds upon a recent series of member-based meetings, performances, and forums that address themes of inclusivity and equity in art and culture. In addition to discussing the relationships between aesthetic and cultural production, identity, inclusionary/exclusionary practices, and institutional habits, Always Be Dismantling has recently posed a series of questions to its public viewership; the anonymous answers to these and other questions will be discussed as part of Sunday’s event.
