0:00
the beginning of March, seven bodies have
0:02
turned up in Connecticut, Rhode Island and
0:04
Massachusetts. In some corners of social media,
0:06
like Facebook, the idea that a serial
0:08
killer could be on the prowl in
0:10
New England is getting more popular. So
0:12
far, law enforcement is not connecting the
0:14
cases. Welcome
0:43
back to Missing and Crawl
0:45
Space. What you just
0:47
heard was a news
0:49
segment from Boston 25's Bob
0:52
Ward speaking about a
0:54
possible unknown serial killer in
0:56
New England. Welcome back
0:58
to the show. I'm Tim
1:00
here today with Lance. Lance, how
1:02
are you today? I'm doing very well.
1:05
Pretty rare that we hear welcome to Crawl
1:07
Space and Missing. in the same intro,
1:10
that's because we have something special today. It's
1:12
a special report, and that's the
1:14
only words that we can think of
1:16
to put this story out there as
1:18
soon as we possibly can, because in
1:20
this world, true crime news breaks. It
1:22
breaks quick, and our job is to
1:24
try to get ahead of it, try
1:27
to put this information in front of
1:29
people. But Tim, how are you feeling
1:31
today? Doing pretty good over here. Yeah,
1:33
definitely interested in this story and want
1:35
to discuss it and kind of suss
1:37
out some of these details, see
1:40
what we think, see what the
1:42
audience thinks. I kind of
1:44
know what the people of New England
1:46
think based on these social media posts. So
1:49
today, Lance, we're talking about
1:51
the possibility of a serial killer
1:53
in New England, a
1:55
new and recent
1:57
one. been
2:00
several bodies. Remains of six people
2:02
have been uncovered in towns across
2:04
New England in the span of
2:06
just one month. So that's March
2:08
and April 2025. So
2:11
pretty startling information
2:13
there. A little hard
2:15
to tell how abnormal
2:17
that is though. I think
2:19
it's the period of time in which these
2:21
bodies are found. They're all found within
2:23
a few weeks of each other. All of
2:25
these have been discovered within the first
2:27
like four weeks
2:29
between the beginning of March and
2:32
the beginning of April. So
2:34
the latest one, according to
2:36
the newsfeed, unless you've seen
2:38
something different, was April 9th. Yeah,
2:40
that's what I see here.
2:42
And that is a unnamed and
2:44
very little information on
2:46
this deceased individual. No
2:49
gender or age. Okay, so let's go through
2:51
all this chronologically, but we're going to break
2:53
quick for commercial here. Just so everyone knows,
2:55
this is airing on both crawl space and
2:57
missing. So you may see it on both
2:59
if you're a follower of both, but if
3:02
you're not, maybe you want to follow the
3:04
other show. They're both great. Okay,
3:06
so let's take a quick break here and we'll be
3:08
right back. Subtle
3:20
results, still you, but with
3:23
fewer lines. Botox Cosmetic
3:25
out of botulinum toxin A is a
3:27
prescription medicine used to temporarily make
3:29
moderate to severe frown lines, crow's
3:31
feet and forehead lines look better
3:33
in adults. Effects of Botox cosmetic
3:35
may spread hours to weeks after injection,
3:37
causing serious symptoms. Alert your doctor right
3:39
away as difficulties swallowing, speaking, breathing, eye
3:41
problems, or muscle weakness may be a
3:43
sign of a life -threatening condition. Patients
3:45
with these conditions before injection are at
3:47
highest risk. Don't receive Botox cosmetic if
3:50
you have a skin infection. Side effects
3:52
may include allergic reactions, injection site pain,
3:54
headache, eyebrow and eyelid drooping and eyelid
3:56
swelling. Allergic reactions can include rash, welds,
3:58
asthma symptoms, and dizziness. Tell your doctor about
4:00
medical history. Muscle or nerve
4:02
conditions including ALS or Lou Gehrig's
4:04
disease. Myasthenia gravis, or Lambert -Eden
4:06
syndrome in medications, including botulinum
4:08
toxins, as these may increase the
4:10
risk of serious side effects.

5:56
Okay, so we are
5:58
discussing these bodies across
6:01
New England. So March
6:03
6th, there were two
6:05
bodies found, as you mentioned
6:07
Lance. There was
6:09
a woman named Paige
6:12
Fanon. She was
6:14
recovered by Norwalk Connecticut's
6:16
police scuba team and
6:18
their fire rescue team
6:20
on March 6th. Right.
6:22
So she was a
6:24
resident of West Islip
6:26
on Long Island in
6:28
New York and was
6:30
reported missing in New
6:32
York before she was
6:34
later found. So it's
6:36
a little hard to tell if
6:38
this death was suspicious or not.
6:41
Right. She was last seen on
6:43
March 5th, a day after she
6:45
was reported missing in New York.
6:47
So she was reported missing. She
6:49
was last seen, according to this
6:51
article from People Magazine and also
6:54
all of the other Associated Presses.
6:57
The day after she was reported missing
6:59
in New York, she was last seen
7:01
on March 5th and the body was
7:03
discovered on March 6th. And I just
7:05
want to give a side note here.
7:07
There is a GoFundMe 4 -page fan -in. Her
7:09
family so that they are able
7:11
to have the proper funding to do
7:13
whatever they need to do in
7:16
order to put page to rest and
7:18
have some sort of closure and
7:20
that's gofundme.com in loving memory of page
7:22
I'm gonna just spell this because
7:24
I'm not sure how to pronounce it
7:26
a L I E H S
7:28
That's her middle name Thanan, so we'll
7:30
put the links as well But
7:32
if anybody wants to contribute to that
7:34
they've already crushed their goal, but
7:36
hey keep it coming Absolutely, yeah.
7:39
And Paige was a
7:41
beloved daughter, sister, cousin, niece,
7:43
and her friend has
7:45
launched the GoFundMe. It's raised
7:47
over 14 ,000 at the
7:49
time of this recording. So
7:52
then also on March
7:54
6th, but this was in
7:56
Plymouth, Massachusetts, this was
7:59
178 miles east of Norwalk,
8:01
Connecticut. So, you know,
8:03
that's like a three, four
8:05
hour drive. there. And
8:08
so this person is unnamed
8:10
and there's no information
8:12
on gender or age. This
8:15
was basically bones that were
8:17
discovered in the woods by a
8:19
hunter. They found the
8:21
top half of a human skull
8:23
with its jaw and nasal
8:26
area missing. There's no
8:28
further information on
8:30
this which doesn't really
8:32
indicate right now
8:34
that the body of
8:36
page and this
8:38
body are connected. Very
8:40
far apart, one was
8:42
discovered very soon after she
8:45
disappeared, so Paige Fanon was discovered
8:47
just a couple of days
8:49
after she disappeared. This one looks
8:51
like a lot of decomposition
8:53
has taken place, a
8:56
lot of dismemberment has taken place,
8:58
or a lot of maybe wear
9:00
due to weather, animals. but
9:02
there's been a lot of breakdown
9:04
on this body. Yeah, absolutely. Impossible
9:06
to tell right now if
9:08
there was foul play suspected.
9:11
That's correct. And the remains were
9:13
found by a hunter. So
9:16
this could be a coincidence. Paige
9:18
Fanon's body is discovered then the
9:20
same day by coincidence another body is
9:22
discovered by a hunter. That happens
9:24
a lot. But we can
9:27
see two bodies in the
9:29
same day in a remotely similar
9:31
area in New England. We'll
9:33
say New England. Just keep it
9:35
in that circumference, that radius for
9:37
now. But no alerts. No
9:39
one's radar is going up
9:41
yet to a significant degree. And
9:44
then on March 19th
9:46
in Groton, Connecticut, authorities
9:48
recovered a body inside
9:51
a suitcase near a cemetery.
9:53
State police told People
9:55
magazine that they don't believe
9:57
there's any information suggesting
10:00
a connection to the discovery
10:02
of other remains and
10:04
Groton's police chief urged people
10:06
not to rush to
10:09
judgment and Groton is about
10:11
80 miles east of
10:13
Norwalk, which is where Page
10:15
was found So again,
10:18
not very close, but
10:20
this sure seems like foul play.
10:22
I think the suitcase indicates that
10:24
there was some level of foul
10:26
play. There was a Reddit
10:28
commenter who said, uh, inside of
10:30
a suitcase, not cool. So I
10:32
agree with that Redditor that yes,
10:34
a body inside of a
10:36
suitcase is not cool and it's
10:39
indicative of foul play. And with
10:41
the other two bodies and the
10:43
second one being in a state
10:45
of. decomposition the
10:47
way it was and not being
10:49
able to be identified same thing
10:51
with this one unidentified female 40
10:54
to 60 years old there was
10:56
a little part of me that
10:58
that started thinking like is somebody
11:00
now getting rid of their bodies
11:02
have they done this a long
11:04
time ago within the past like
11:07
decade or so and now they're
11:09
depositing the bodies because maybe they
11:11
got a little bit lazy with
11:13
the work that they did with
11:15
Paige Fannin And that was the
11:17
little tiny part of me that
11:20
was thinking about it, but I
11:22
can't help that from entering into
11:24
my mind. Well, this unnamed female
11:26
is between the ages of 40
11:28
and 60 with light pigmented skin.
11:30
They also believe the victim may
11:33
have had Turner syndrome, which includes
11:35
symptoms such as short stature, broad
11:37
chest, short, wide neck and small
11:39
chin, which can be. you
11:41
know, identifying and that's why
11:43
we're mentioning it here. But
11:46
there were also some rumors
11:48
online swirling about a suspicious
11:50
man at Bluff Point State
11:52
Park on April 3rd. And
11:54
so Grotten Police were taking
11:57
tips about that and apparently
11:59
someone said that the suspicious
12:01
man had a knife unconfirmed
12:03
at this point. And
12:06
Groton police are also investigating a
12:08
disappearance of a man named Steven
12:10
Gush, who went missing on March
12:13
and is yet to be
12:15
found. Kind of a bigger
12:17
man, 6 '2", 230 pounds, around
12:19
38 years old, last seen
12:21
March 29th, 2025, actually
12:23
in Ledger, Connecticut, but all pretty
12:26
close. So we'll keep an eye
12:28
on that case as well. For
12:30
sure. And the person who said
12:32
that they saw an individual with
12:34
a knife, There's a quote in
12:36
this article from News 8 that
12:38
is a portion of the call
12:41
that apparently went into the police
12:43
department in Groton. This
12:45
is a quote, I went back around, turned the
12:47
other way. He went back the other way
12:49
and then he started walking back as I turned
12:51
around to walk back to the car. So
12:53
that was just a portion
12:56
of the call. But yeah,
12:58
apparently the person was rumored
13:00
to have a knife or
13:02
a switchblade. No other news
13:04
on this. particular body found
13:06
at this point other than
13:08
our speculation. But
13:10
it seems like pretty solid
13:12
speculation that this was a
13:14
murder victim. I agree. I
13:16
also agree that the police
13:18
chief urging people not to
13:20
quote rush to judgment is
13:22
the police chief trying to
13:24
get out ahead of what
13:27
he's already seeing and hearing
13:29
amongst the masses. Not
13:31
so much like the mainstream media,
13:33
but I can imagine that he's got
13:35
some sort of finger on the
13:37
pulse of what is being discussed on
13:39
social media about this. I think
13:42
serial killer Had started to be like
13:44
thrown out there at this point.
13:46
Absolutely definitely on social media and that's
13:48
typically where some kind of drum
13:50
beats start But it has been covered
13:52
by more mainstream media recently but
13:54
It sure seems like this is really
13:56
reaching far on social media. A
13:59
lot of shares, a lot of likes
14:01
on stories regarding this. So we
14:03
kind of owe it to ourselves and
14:05
our audience to look into it
14:07
a little bit. Yeah. And right off
14:09
the top, I mean, maybe not
14:11
right off the top, but at this
14:14
moment, I'll just say people should
14:16
start to become aware of their surroundings.
14:18
Stay safe out there. I mean,
14:20
we don't know. We have our opinions,
14:22
but now we're seeing a body
14:24
inside of a suitcase. near
14:26
a cemetery, two other
14:28
bodies. So, you know, just
14:31
a general blanket. Hey, keep your
14:33
head on a swivel. And then
14:35
on March 20th in New Haven,
14:37
Connecticut, authorities found the body of
14:39
Denise Leary. And she
14:41
had been missing since September
14:43
of 2024. And she
14:46
was discovered in a
14:48
wooded area near a home.
14:51
So not... woods not like a
14:53
forest but in the woods
14:55
near a home in an advanced
14:57
state of decay is what
14:59
the police said. And
15:01
police also claim that
15:03
Leary suffered from paranoid schizophrenia.
15:07
And New Haven is about 156 miles
15:09
west of Plymouth and about 50 miles
15:11
west of Groton. And I did look
15:13
into this case a little bit. Lance
15:16
and it was a pretty
15:18
mysterious disappearance from the get -go.
15:20
Yeah, because She seemed to have
15:22
jumped out her window Yeah,
15:24
she climbed out her window using
15:26
some form of a cable
15:29
Yeah, and locked the bedroom door
15:31
behind her right so when
15:33
her son attempted to Open the
15:35
door to knock on her
15:37
door She was not there and
15:39
they called the paramedics who
15:41
opened the door and found that
15:43
She was not in the
15:46
room at all, but they did
15:48
find evidence that she may
15:50
have climbed out of the window
15:52
using a cable. And
15:54
there were, I think, footprints on
15:56
the ground, right? Yes, also footprints
15:58
on the ground. So authorities say
16:01
their investigation, quote, has not indicated
16:03
evidence of foul play, end quote,
16:05
at this point. Right. There
16:07
was a moment a
16:10
few nights prior to her
16:12
disappearance, and this is from an
16:14
NBC News article. So
16:16
Joshua Webb, Denise's son, had
16:19
said that he had found her behavior
16:21
concerning. This is a few nights before she
16:23
disappeared, and this is his quote from
16:25
that article. Around 10 .30 p .m. she said
16:27
she was going out, still quoted,
16:29
she was like, turn my location off
16:31
on my phone, end quote. And then quoting
16:33
again, so I tried to look out
16:35
the window to see who was picking her
16:38
up. So apparently around
16:40
10 30 p .m. He was under the
16:42
impression that his mom was going out
16:44
didn't want to be located so she
16:46
told him to turn the location off
16:48
on her phone and Apparently someone was
16:50
picking her up. He said that he
16:52
couldn't see who was picking his mother
16:55
up But she did return home safe
16:57
that night. It was a few days
16:59
later where he had knocked on the
17:01
bedroom door There was no answer and
17:03
I can't even imagine the the feeling
17:05
someone I don't care how old you
17:07
are like you're knocking on your mom's
17:09
bedroom door and there's no answer and
17:12
time goes by and time goes by
17:14
and you have to call your grandmother
17:16
to come over and when they finally
17:18
get into the room they realize that
17:20
it was locked from the inside and
17:22
she wasn't in there so I mean
17:24
we're already like this is a very
17:26
tragic situation as we're talking through it
17:29
scary and tragic yeah yeah no signs
17:32
necessarily of foul
17:34
play, but still
17:36
unclear on what happened to Denise.
17:39
Okay, that brings us to March
17:41
26th in Foster, Rhode Island. A
17:44
woman named Michelle Romano,
17:46
56 years old, was
17:48
found eight months after
17:50
she disappeared, and
17:52
her remains were found in a
17:54
wooded area And investigators began looking
17:56
into the suspicious circumstances surrounding her
17:58
death. There's a little bit here
18:00
from People Magazine. A man in
18:02
the neighborhood. said that his dog
18:05
may have noticed the remains before
18:07
they were found by the individual
18:09
who ended up reporting it. And
18:11
the quote here, I know my dog has
18:13
been acting strange when he comes out here, end
18:16
quote, but that was the neighbor,
18:18
Tom Slater. He says he's
18:20
always sniffing over that way. I don't know
18:22
how long the body has been over there, but
18:24
he would pick up on it. And
18:27
Foster is about 89
18:29
miles northeast of New
18:31
Haven. So again,
18:33
nothing. super close tying
18:35
these bodies together, you know,
18:37
this is a lot of driving
18:39
going on here if we're
18:41
talking about one killer. Yeah, yeah.
18:44
Again, there's that little small part
18:46
of me that's thinking like it's
18:48
the right amount of driving. If
18:50
you want to spread out the
18:53
remains of the individuals that you
18:55
have, you know, perpetrated these crimes
18:57
on and not just left them
18:59
in one area. So
19:01
it kind of spreads out the triangulation
19:03
of trying to figure out who this
19:05
person is. But you know, I think
19:07
personally speaking, I'm not leaning towards serial
19:10
killer right now, but it is interesting
19:12
that these bodies are coming up within
19:14
a few weeks of each other within
19:16
like one week of each other, one
19:18
after the other. And in the
19:20
case of Michelle Romano, her family
19:22
does have a Facebook Justice
19:25
for Michelle Romano, so that's on
19:27
Facebook, and they have a statement that
19:29
they wrote on April 1st when
19:32
the day after, I believe, they received
19:34
the news that their mother had
19:36
been found. At least that's what the
19:38
post says on April 1st, and
19:40
they say yesterday the family received the
19:42
news about Michelle being found, and
19:44
they requested privacy. So the only thing
19:46
beyond... we're going to talk about
19:49
here is that she was found. And
19:51
the number that they give here, if
19:53
there's any information that people would have on
19:55
Michelle's death, they want
19:57
individuals to call the Rhode
19:59
Island State Police at
20:02
401 -647 -8039. And you can
20:04
remain anonymous. But
20:06
again, I think it goes without
20:08
saying that all the families in
20:10
these situations probably want to have
20:12
some degree of privacy. And what,
20:14
again, we're trying to do here
20:16
is I guess respectfully
20:18
deliver this. breaking
20:20
news story. serial
20:50
killer as that is
20:52
absolutely not the case. So
20:54
it sounds like the
20:56
family has some known person
20:58
or persons in mind
21:00
and they also share the
21:02
phone number 401 468
21:04
4233. So on April
21:06
9th in killing Lee Connecticut,
21:09
which is a little bit
21:11
further north. It's about
21:13
84 miles from New Haven,
21:15
Connecticut. It's close to
21:17
the Rhode Island in Massachusetts.
21:20
borders. There was
21:22
another body found unnamed no
21:24
information on gender or age
21:26
but found by the Connecticut
21:28
State Police and they said
21:30
the investigation is in the
21:32
early stages it remains active
21:34
and ongoing and there's no
21:37
information at this time suggesting
21:39
any connection to similar remains
21:41
discovered actively under investigation by
21:43
Connecticut State Police or other
21:45
Connecticut law enforcement agencies. Okay
21:47
so What we have here
21:49
are six bodies, three that
21:51
have been identified and three
21:53
that at this point are
21:55
not identified. I didn't want
21:57
to say beyond identification because
21:59
they'll eventually make a match
22:02
here, but I can imagine
22:04
that all of the usual
22:06
organizations are mobilizing their resources
22:08
to make sure that these
22:10
individuals who have not been
22:12
identified. will eventually become
22:14
identified. I can't imagine that
22:16
authorum labs isn't somehow being
22:18
contacted about these three bodies.
22:21
I think the first thing that
22:23
law enforcement has to say is
22:25
that in the early stages, the
22:27
investigation is active and ongoing. And
22:30
yeah, there's no information that links
22:32
any of these bodies to one
22:34
another other than the timeframe that
22:36
they were found. This area for
22:38
anybody who doesn't know or who
22:41
You know, anyone is not familiar
22:43
with New England. This is all
22:45
southeastern New England. This does not
22:47
travel up into Vermont. It
22:49
does not run alongside the
22:52
Connecticut River Valley because I
22:54
have seen that the Connecticut
22:56
River Valley killer has been
22:58
brought into the conversation. That
23:01
was more like, you
23:03
know, mid Vermont, New Hampshire,
23:05
state line area along
23:07
Highway 91. And this
23:09
all runs along the southeast
23:11
coast and then a little
23:13
bit northwest, a little bit
23:15
northwest, once you get into
23:18
Connecticut with Killingly and Foster. And
23:20
then we go to
23:22
Plymouth, Massachusetts, which
23:25
is the town right before
23:27
you enter Cape Cod.
23:29
So that is definitely coastal.
23:32
And then Framingham is more western in
23:34
Massachusetts, but not deep west. It's
23:36
still remaining more eastern. in the southeastern
23:38
part of New England. And we'll
23:40
be right back after a quick word

26:11
to our sponsors and now
26:13
we're back to the program. There's
26:15
also this Facebook group that
26:17
is mentioned in some of these
26:19
articles. It's called New England
26:21
SK. That's the name of the
26:23
group SK for serial killer.
26:25
It is a private group on
26:28
Facebook, only 18 ,000 members at
26:30
this point. I joined this
26:32
morning Lance and I'm just kind
26:34
of perusing the group a
26:36
little bit. And so it's
26:38
really people talking back and
26:40
forth. Actually, I see Brittany T's
26:42
name come up here. So
26:44
people are kind of just brainstorming
26:46
in this group. Obviously, if
26:48
you're talking about a serial killer
26:50
being active in an area,
26:52
then you're going to look at
26:54
other missing persons cases that
26:57
are in similar areas and you're
26:59
going to wonder or consider
27:01
those. So that's probably why
27:03
Brittany T's case is mentioned
27:05
in here. It would be kind
27:07
of in a little north of the
27:09
pocket of most of the bodies that
27:11
had been found. So I think we're
27:13
at the tipping point here in the
27:15
conversation where we start bringing up other
27:17
people being missing. And it's by no
27:19
like, we're not trying to, and when
27:21
I say we, not just you and
27:23
I, the general public starts discovering these
27:25
other individuals and we brought up Stephen
27:27
Gush because that was part of the
27:29
research, his name came up, and now
27:31
we're getting into Brittany T. So.
27:35
That's where it starts getting, it
27:37
starts to feel like the balloons
27:39
inflating and inflating. So we just
27:41
want to be clear that we're
27:43
not saying every single individual that
27:45
has ever gone missing in this
27:47
area is connected. This is just
27:49
the, these are just the names
27:51
that come up as you start
27:53
digging into it and you have
27:55
to kind of, I don't know,
27:57
like find like a focus. You
27:59
have to like adjust your focus
28:01
on what is currently being released for
28:03
news. Right and so
28:05
this Facebook group definitely has
28:07
some some creepy posts as
28:09
far as people kind of
28:11
Trying to suss out whether
28:13
or not there's a serial
28:15
killer in New England There's
28:18
a photo that someone posted
28:20
of a man in the
28:22
woods looks like he's wearing
28:24
like a gray mask actually
28:26
looks quite spooky definitely No
28:28
confirmation that this is connected
28:30
to anything, but I think you
28:33
know like Facebook groups go
28:35
There's there's brainstorming right and that's
28:37
what it is and certainly
28:39
this person in this picture cannot
28:41
be identified, but it is
28:43
a a spooky photo To
28:46
say the least and I'll just
28:48
try to advise people like I don't
28:50
want to be preachy or anything
28:52
like that But there are families who
28:54
are connected to these victims and
28:56
If you are posting creepy poems and
28:59
claiming that it's something it's not
29:01
then you're really not doing Anybody any
29:03
service including yourself? So if you
29:05
have the urge to do that, please
29:07
refrain from doing that and Tim
29:09
you just this is breaking news during
29:12
breaking news. You just sent me the
29:14
image of this person with
29:17
like a leather face mask?
29:19
Yeah, it kind of looks like a leather face mask with
29:21
glasses over it. Yeah, I
29:23
don't know. It could be
29:26
some sort of protection for
29:28
insects that one would wear
29:30
over their head like a
29:32
hood or something, but it
29:34
is an eerie picture. This
29:37
person who was apparently captured on
29:39
a game camera. And
29:41
it was from the Great Cedar Swamp
29:43
in Carver. So Carver
29:45
is just southwest, like
29:48
just southwest of Plymouth, Massachusetts.
29:50
Yeah, definitely some unconfirmed rumors and
29:52
things like that. But again,
29:54
I don't want to make it
29:56
seem like I'm annoyed by
29:58
this group. I'm not at all.
30:00
It's brainstorming. Yeah. Yeah, it's
30:03
brainstorming. Yeah. Yeah, Abby Flynn comes
30:05
up here in this group
30:07
as well. And that was a
30:09
woman that we covered a
30:11
couple of years ago who went
30:13
missing from Gloucester, Massachusetts. She
30:15
was 59 when she went missing
30:17
before a Super Bowl party
30:19
on Sunday, February 2nd, 2020. That
30:22
was from Gloucester, Massachusetts. So
30:24
other missing persons, flyers are
30:27
posted here. There's... a story
30:29
about a violent man who was
30:31
granted a release. Obviously, I'm
30:33
not gonna give that person's
30:35
name out right now. I
30:37
mean, there's like no end
30:39
to the speculating you can really
30:41
do on this, right? You
30:43
can group all these missing
30:45
persons together if you want. So
30:48
yeah, to your point,
30:51
just be careful with this information.
30:53
You don't want to... You
30:55
don't want to hurt families accidentally
30:57
or intentionally. Right, correct,
30:59
correct. The New Bedford
31:02
Highway serial killer is responsible
31:04
for the deaths of
31:06
at least nine women between
31:08
March of 1988 and
31:10
April of 1989. He
31:12
remains unidentified in our friend
31:15
Maureen Boyle is a great
31:17
author and she wrote a
31:19
book about this unknown serial
31:21
killer called Shallow Graves. And
31:23
we actually just replayed that
31:25
episode on Missing just recently,
31:27
just in the last few
31:29
weeks. But here's a
31:31
clip of Boston 25's Bob
31:33
Ward speaking with Maureen Boyle
31:36
about this new potential serial
31:38
killer in New England. In
31:40
the late 1980s, a serial
31:42
killer struck the New Bedford
31:44
area. Nine women murdered, two
31:46
missing. Author Maureen Boyle covered
31:48
the case at the time and
31:50
wrote a book about it. She is
31:53
skeptical that a new serial killer
31:55
might be at work right now. Just
31:57
because you have bodies found in
31:59
a variety of places New England, that
32:01
does not mean that there's a
32:03
serial killer on the loose in the
32:05
area. Boyle is concerned that online
32:07
speculation can hurt people. This is not
32:09
a game. These involve
32:11
real people these involve real
32:13
families This is serious business. So
32:15
I think what Maureen says
32:18
is 100 % accurate Obviously, this
32:20
is not a game. This is
32:22
these are real lives that
32:24
we're speaking about and there's no
32:26
evidence that there is a
32:28
serial killer on the loose in
32:30
New England and in fact
32:32
Probably only two of those bodies
32:35
those remains that we found
32:37
were definitely you know foul play
32:40
were suspicious circumstances. Maybe there's
32:42
more but that's unconfirmed at this
32:44
point so I'm not going
32:46
to rush to judgment on the
32:48
other cases but certainly you
32:51
found in a suitcase that that
32:53
would suggest foul play. Also
32:55
Denise Leary's death could be seen
32:57
as suspicious not knowing who
32:59
she was spending time with but
33:02
then of course you
33:04
know, authority said she was suffering from
33:06
paranoid schizophrenia, so I just am
33:08
not sure what to make of her
33:10
case at this point. Right, and
33:12
I'm glad that you played that clip
33:14
from Maureen Boyle because she has
33:16
done an extensive amount of research on
33:18
serial killers, and she is
33:20
just basically stating the obvious and
33:22
wanting to emphasize the obvious. Don't
33:24
rush to judgment. This is a story
33:26
that involves... only victims but victims
33:28
families that we want to be
33:31
very protective of and also again
33:33
that being said we have an obligation
33:35
to put information out there about
33:37
something that's developing in this true
33:39
crime world that we're a part of
33:41
and there are a number of
33:43
bodies that are found throughout the
33:45
country in clusters in certain areas
33:47
over the course of a condensed amount
33:49
of time like a couple weeks
33:51
or a few weeks or a
33:54
few months and it's just interesting
33:56
to me that these bodies are the
33:58
ones that are being highlighted right
34:00
now as opposed to any other
34:02
bodies that might have been found
34:04
in this area or in another area.
34:07
I don't know why I don't
34:09
know why it caught the zeitgeist
34:11
for today or for you know
34:13
the past month but it has
34:15
and it's going to be a
34:18
challenging tightrope to walk to deliver
34:20
the information as well as not
34:22
fully speculated or given to speculation.
34:24
Because I don't think speculation is
34:26
bad. Just don't give into it.
34:28
Right. Yeah. Don't give into it.
34:30
But I will say just. adding
34:32
on top of that, a lot
34:35
of times in serial killer cases,
34:37
victims are found in different jurisdictions
34:39
and someone has to make those
34:41
connections. Because a lot of
34:43
times the authorities, they're not calling
34:45
the other jurisdictions. So in
34:47
a lot of these cases,
34:50
famous serial killer cases, it
34:52
was journalists who connected the
34:54
dots that these victims were
34:56
met by foul play from
34:58
the same perpetrator. So again,
35:02
make it helpful speculation, I
35:04
guess, you know. Right, right. All
35:07
right, well, things are developing. Yeah,
35:09
we'll keep our eye on this
35:12
case and we will likely bring
35:14
in some experts for interviews on
35:16
this story as it develops. All
35:18
right, again, stay safe. All right, thanks
35:20
a lot for listening. Follow us on

36:20
ten full years. A decade is truly

incredible, and for the next ten

36:26

36:31
else do we have, Tim? Well, we
36:33
talk about the psychology of serial
36:35
killers as well as other types of
36:37
