Sara Clemence is a freelance journalist, travel writer, author, and editor. She co-founded the web sites Recessionwire and The Expedition.Previously, Clemence was the travel editor for The Wall Street Journal and news director at Travel + Leisure. She began her journalism career at the Anniston Star in Alabama, where she covered chemical weapons and environmental issues.Clemence's work has appeared in The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Esquire, Vogue, Bloomberg, and Marie Claire. Her first book, "Away & Aware: A Field Guide to Mindful Travel," was published in 2017.Clemence received her B.A. in International Studies from Johns Hopkins University and her M.S. in Journalism from Columbia University.
