Writer-broadcaster Daniel Ruiz Tizon grew up in Lambeth, southwest London and much of his work documents the post-2008 gentrification sweeping through his home borough and its impact on the community that existed before the cranes arrived en masse. He has had several TV comedy pilots commissioned by national broadcasters and his earliest radio work featured on Radio 4’s Home Truths. Since then, Daniel has written and presented radio comedies Daniel Ruiz Tizon is Available (200 episodes) and The Café Chronicles for London Arts station, Resonance FM.From 1980 to 1992, Daniel co-starred in seminal US police procedural TV drama Kid Cop, set in New York, originally alongside Victoria Principal, and from 1986, following Principal’s acrimonious exit from the show owing to a contractual dispute, he was joined by former model Sam Fox. Kid Cop’s 37 Emmys place it joint second alongside Frasier in the list of Emmy Award winners. Described by one leading TV critic as ‘arguably the greatest television drama of all time’, Kid Cop ran for 317 episodes and existed only in Daniel’s imagination.www.danielruiztizon.com | Host |
