If my religious all girls school hadn't turned me bi as a child, this podcast would probably have done the trick. I am in love with the podcast itself, the Obituary Writer, Charlotte, the haunted bicycles, the Angel of Death, Crestfall and honestly pretty much every character in this story!
This show is an all time Hall of Fame favorite for me. There is literally nothing I don’t love about this show, from it’s dark, wry tone to its hilarious worldbuilding to its genuine creepiness to its ability to turn on a dime from silly to genuinely melancholic and deeply touching. There are so many memorable characters (the Button-Eyed Raven, the Slapper, Pastor Jeff) and bits (the apricot battle in the town market, OW’s immaculate fashion sense, Gert, the line “he wasn’t the talk of the town, but he was the talker of the town”) Over the course of the five main-plot episodes it goes on a truly, insanely well-crafted journey with one of those tone shifts in the last act that feels at once like a huge twist but also inevitable and right. It reminds me so much of Over the Garden Wall in its final episode and I mean that in the best way possible--spooky and dark but also oddly comforting, existentially sad but also life affirming and hopeful. I adore it.
This show is something special for sure, the premise is so unique and lends itself to the podcast medium so well. The first seasons was a thing of beauty and I can not wait for seasons two. No would be a great time to binge it all if you have not already.
Dark humor, creative world, highly recommended
This show has sucked me into a charmingly bizarre world of murder, mysterious death angels, and man-eating cats. The perfect balance of unexplained weirdness, humor, and genuine meditations on friendship, death, and loss. I wish I could live in Crestfall! Although, on second thought, I don't know if I could survive there for longer than a couple of episodes.
It's like WTNV meets Six Feet Under.
I can’t quite get over this writing and world-building. It’s absurd, brimming with wit, pleasantly-grim, and I’m absolutely dying for season 2.
A very unique and charming show. Witty, weird and worrying (sorry!) all at the same time. An interesting premise, excellent writing and great voice acting has easily made this show a favorite.
Funny, sad, and stylish. There's the Obituary Writer! And his antics are amusing and tragic at the same time.
I love this podcast. The concept is amazing and the humor is on point. The Obituary Writer is such an interesting character. But above all, this is a podcast that was clearly made with a lot of love and care. It shows in every creative choice.
Loved it. Great first season. Can't wait for more.
Incredibly funny and well-written. Looking forward to season 2. It reminds me a lot of Welcome to Night Vale, both because of the bizarre town and the narration style, but with an obituary writer instead of a radio host.
OW...He's my best friend, my pal, he’s my homeboy, my rotten soldier, my sweet cheese, my good time boy
Anything that can match the whimsy, heart, and macabre fascination with death of Pushing Daisies is a great podcast in my book. This is a great podcast.
Amazing how much comedy, heart and quirkiness one can fit into only 5 episodes but DbD nails it. O.W. stole my heart as well as he dealt with all the death around him. I can't wait for s2 and the return of the him, the man eating cats and the button eyed raven.
Beautiful show. I wish there was more.
Lovely world building, very imaginative and a quality production with intriguing stories and characters 💜
Great stuff for a wide range of people. It's got dry absurdist humor, fast pacing, strong characters, supernatural mundanity, and emotional range. Hard to go wrong, whether you're a fan of the supernatural in general, supernatural role play, small town drama, or old fashioned humor.
Cosy, humourous audio drama about death. Just the right length, never overstayed it's welcome.
A very fun dark comedy podcast. Similar vibes to WTNV, but is very much its own thing, and it will be very exciting to listen to more of this
