Been sitting a while? Maybe it's time

0:02

to go for a quick walk around

0:04

the block. Walk, skip, sprint, sashay, whatever

0:06

gets you up and moving. A

0:08

little exercise can make a big difference.

0:10

This healthy suggestion is brought to you

0:12

by Regent's Blue Cross Blue Shield of

0:14

Oregon. Together we help. Hello

0:20

and welcome to Enlightened Empaths,

0:22

your community for the spiritually

0:24

awakened. Where we discuss, explore,

0:26

and connect with fellow empaths,

0:28

healers, intuitives, and seekers. Welcome

0:35

to Enlightened Empaths. Today we're going

0:38

to be talking about signs that

0:40

animals are working with you. One

0:42

of the top ways we get

0:44

signs from our loved ones and

0:47

spirit is from animals and birds.

0:49

So today we're going to be

0:52

talking about some of the most common animals

0:54

that seem to come through as messengers and

0:56

what they symbolize. I

0:59

think there's been some confusion for a lot of

1:01

folks whether an animal is a sign from a

1:03

loved one and spirit or is it

1:05

just a sign for us that they're trying to give

1:07

us a little message or some insight. I think it

1:09

can be both. Yeah,

1:11

I do too. I think two things can be true

1:14

at the same time. That's why it's

1:16

really important to pay attention to your intuition,

1:18

to pay attention to how you feel when

1:20

you see that sign, and

1:23

to really be cognizant of what's going on in

1:25

your life at that moment, what were you thinking

1:27

about. If you

1:29

see an animal that you often associate

1:31

with your grandmother but you haven't

1:33

been thinking about your grandmother if you're honest with

1:35

yourself, then it might not be your grandmother. But

1:38

if you've been missing her or you just told

1:40

a story about her or a birthday

1:42

or anniversary connected to her is

1:44

coming up, then that could be a

1:46

sign from your grandmother. So you have to kind of take

1:48

in a lot of factors. Right,

1:51

and I think too if you

1:53

have a conversation, I know

1:55

a lot of people will say, I'll come back

1:57

as a butterfly. I'll let you know it's me. or

2:00

I'll come back as a hummingbird or I'll like

2:02

people will set that up ahead of time. Well,

2:04

then you kind of have a shoe in of

2:06

knowing that it's your person. Right. Exactly.

2:09

Have you done that? Did you tell your kids?

2:15

I think that kind of an indicator

2:17

is if you get a spontaneous feeling

2:19

or thought of a specific loved one

2:22

when you see an animal. So you

2:24

see a blue jay and you immediately

2:26

think of someone that you love in

2:28

spirit or that they loved blue jays

2:30

or whatever it might be.

2:32

Does a hawk fly over every time

2:34

you go past your grandparents house? Do

2:37

you a certain animal show up around,

2:39

as you said, birthdays, anniversaries or celebrations,

2:41

or when you're struggling to try to figure something out?

2:44

Because I think these can all be visits

2:46

from loved ones and also a sign a

2:50

message from spirit in general.

2:53

Yeah, I agree. And sometimes

2:55

they can be confusing. I'm still trying

2:58

to figure out, I think I shared

3:00

with you my Fox stories. Yeah, yeah,

3:02

I still real quick, I was

3:04

driving to pick up Chloe from a friend's house

3:06

late one night, and a Fox ran out on

3:08

the road and just stopped and stared at me

3:11

and I had this like, it was

3:13

weird. It was almost like the Fox was like putting

3:15

a mess it was weird. I just

3:17

knew that something bad was coming up with

3:19

my dad's health. And shortly

3:21

after his health took a dip and a

3:23

bad turn and you know, he did pass

3:25

away. And then about a

3:28

year later, I'm coming home late one

3:30

night from a friend's house and same

3:32

thing different road, different neighborhood, a Fox

3:35

runs out stops and stares at me. And I

3:38

got this really strong feeling that my mom

3:40

had just a couple of weeks left

3:42

to live. And I was like, what

3:45

the heck is happening? And then my mom was

3:48

doing okay at that time. And she

3:50

did pass very, very quickly

3:52

after that. At my mom's

3:54

funeral, we're driving

3:56

away from the cemetery in its

3:58

daylight. And there's two foxes by

4:00

the gate to the cemetery just

4:02

staring at us. Wow.

4:05

Yeah. But you wouldn't

4:07

associate fox that way. Fox

4:10

is usually associated with other

4:12

insights. Right. I don't know.

4:16

I love that though. I love that they

4:18

were so clear on making sure they got

4:20

your attention. Yeah, they sure did. And

4:24

I think for, you know, a lot

4:26

of times spirit animals are messengers and

4:28

they're just another resource for us and

4:31

they do want to help us and we can call

4:33

on them for guidance. So from

4:36

what I've found from personal experience and from

4:38

folks I've talked with over the years, if

4:41

you have a really deep connection to

4:43

the natural world, animals seem to foster

4:45

a sense of trust and surety that

4:47

you might not always feel from people

4:49

or in your everyday environment. I

4:52

agree. That's so true. Animals

4:55

give us a sense that there's

4:57

more to this world than the

4:59

hustle and bustle. And

5:01

I think for me anyway, when I'm

5:03

out in nature and I see certain

5:05

animals, it reminds me to pause and

5:08

to give thanks. I always feel so grateful.

5:11

When I see a hawk flying or when

5:14

a bluebird lands on my mailbox or

5:16

a butterfly sits on my jasmine

5:18

in my backyard, I feel so grateful and it

5:21

makes me exhale in a deeper way. The

5:25

way you just described that, it's a

5:27

wonderful reminder to be present, to be

5:29

aware, to be observing your

5:32

surroundings, to be part of your

5:34

surroundings. That's

5:36

how I was walking the dog out back

5:38

the other day and stopped and there was

5:40

a deer standing just literally 25 feet

5:42

away. And

5:45

surprisingly, the dog looked at the deer. The

5:47

deer looked at the dog. Nobody lost their

5:49

mind and we just kind of looked

5:51

at each other for a few minutes. But

5:54

I didn't pull out my phone and try to

5:56

take a picture and I didn't. It

5:58

was just, it was a moment. but

6:00

it stopped me and it made things to be

6:02

part of your surroundings. And that's

6:05

how I was walking the dog out back

6:07

the other day and stopped and there was

6:09

a deer standing, just literally 25

6:11

feet away. And

6:13

surprisingly, the dog looked at the deer, the

6:16

deer looked at the dog, nobody lost their

6:18

mind. And we just kind of looked

6:20

at each other for a few minutes. But

6:23

I didn't pull out my phone and try to

6:25

take a picture and I didn't. It

6:27

was just, it was a moment but

6:29

it stopped me and it made me aware of how

6:32

lucky am I to live in a place where, and I

6:34

live in town right now, that there

6:36

would be a deer in the yard. You

6:38

know, gentle new beginnings. We did a

6:40

show on animals quite a while back

6:43

and there were some listeners reached out

6:45

and there was some confusion about is

6:48

it a spirit animal, a totem

6:51

animal, a power animal. In

6:53

a lot of shamanic and indigenous

6:55

cultures, spirits are often referred to

6:57

as totem animals or power animals.

7:00

And they're seen as interchangeable terms, but

7:02

there are subtle differences because

7:05

often, from what I understand, from what

7:07

I've read, from what I've been told over

7:09

the years, a total animal is

7:11

typically one shared by a family, a

7:13

clan or a group. So in

7:15

a lot of the indigenous cultures, the family you

7:17

were born into will have

7:19

a totem animal in common. The

7:23

modern version of that is look how

7:25

many sports teams and schools have an

7:27

animal mascot that everyone unites

7:30

under, unites with. Oh,

7:32

that's true. I didn't compare those

7:34

two that way. That's interesting. A

7:37

lot of times people will have totem

7:39

animals can be represented like something you'll

7:41

have a little statue or you'll have

7:43

a little picture. You'll have a figurine

7:46

of that animal and you'll put it

7:48

on an altar or you might collect

7:50

frogs. You

7:54

know how some people are really drawn to a

7:56

certain animal and they'll have little figurines and stuff

7:58

of it. That can be... a

8:00

representational totem animal. And the example

8:03

that I read, which I thought

8:05

made sense, was we give

8:07

kids a teddy bear for comfort. Isn't that

8:09

kind of a totem when you think about

8:11

it? That's true. But power

8:14

animals are more a specialized

8:17

animal guide that shamans and

8:19

shamanic practitioners work closely with

8:22

when you're going into those altered states

8:24

of awareness in a shamanic journey. But

8:26

we all have a power animal that accompanies

8:28

our life. And for me,

8:30

I look at it as another member of the

8:33

team of helpers who want to support us and

8:35

guide us and help us with our life experiences.

8:38

So you really don't have to be a shaman

8:40

or a practitioner, or even

8:42

have a relationship with a power animal

8:44

in that way, they're going to still

8:46

be there to help you. Yeah, that's

8:48

true. And they can often come to

8:51

you in dreams, meditations, visions or journeys.

8:54

And so it doesn't mean that, you know,

8:56

your power animal might be a panther, well,

8:58

you're probably not going to see a panther

9:00

in your everyday life. And it can still

9:02

be a power animal for you that that

9:05

shows up in a lot of different

9:07

unique ways. Right. And

9:10

there's a belief that we're all born with

9:12

a power animal. If you have

9:14

a certain affinity or connection or, and

9:16

what I always always say to people

9:18

and what I love, none

9:21

are better or worse than another. Like people

9:23

want a big power. Oh, I have a

9:25

Jaguar, I have this, I have that. You

9:27

might end up with something that is I

9:29

get an octopus, or you might get a

9:31

mouse, or you might get something that isn't

9:33

deemed a real traditional strong

9:35

power, but it's the one that aligns

9:37

with your energy and the lessons you

9:40

came into work on in

9:42

this lifetime, which I think is really

9:44

important. So

9:46

our power animals with us from the beginning to

9:49

the end. That's the

9:51

way I understand it. Yes. I

9:53

feel like that's true. And I also feel like

9:55

some animals will show up at different stages of

9:57

your life. Very much so. You

10:00

know, like I remember when I was going through a

10:02

really, really busy time and I knew I needed to

10:04

take a break, but I just didn't know how. I

10:07

kept seeing sloths everywhere. Huh.

10:10

Like, you know, those cute little videos,

10:13

the way they stretch and the way they're

10:15

so lazy and sleeping. Whenever

10:17

I'd scroll through Instagram or TikTok or people

10:19

would send me little YouTube clips of these

10:22

adorable little on the sloth babies. Oh my

10:24

gosh. And it was like two weeks of

10:26

three weeks of this going on. And I

10:28

finally was like, Oh, wait a minute. I

10:30

think that's my guides telling me I've got

10:33

to slow down a little bit, but

10:35

that wouldn't be a power animal. That would be more

10:38

of a sign. Correct. Yes. That's

10:40

where I would take it. Yes. And you're

10:42

right. It's going to be whatever your animal

10:45

is that walk and you can use it in meditation,

10:47

in journey work, in your

10:49

everyday life, because it's the

10:52

attributes of the animal that

10:54

are going to give you the strength and power or

10:56

the insights that you need in your own life. It's

10:58

really a incredibly interesting

11:01

topic to think about, especially

11:03

when you can go back to all

11:06

the indigenous cultures that have

11:08

different belief systems around this

11:10

and mythology with animals in

11:12

the connection and different religions.

11:14

It's very, very interesting. So

11:17

it's just a spiritual ally that are here

11:19

to offer support and

11:21

guidance. So if you're

11:23

really drawn to animals or the natural world,

11:25

this might be an easy

11:27

thing for you to work with. But

11:30

we've talked about this a lot when an

11:33

animal shows up just unexpectedly or it's

11:35

doing something that that animal doesn't usually

11:37

do. That can be a

11:39

sign if they show up at three times in a

11:42

short period of time. So with the sloth, it

11:44

kept showing up randomly. There was

11:46

no pattern to it. Yeah, I wasn't seeking it

11:49

out. Right. And you

11:51

weren't thinking about sloths. You weren't thinking about

11:53

being overwhelmed. It was almost like, okay, she

11:55

hasn't quite got it yet. Send

11:57

her another picture of a sloth. The little

11:59

baby's always the like they're smiling to me.

12:01

Oh, they do. It's so cute. And like

12:03

you could say, well, Samantha, that's called an

12:06

algorithm. Right. And they noticed you pausing over

12:08

that video. But I would have like my

12:10

kids sent me a couple, one of my

12:12

friends sent me a card

12:14

that had a sloth, you know, it said like,

12:16

just hang in there. So

12:18

I don't know, I feel like there was something

12:20

more to it. Well, I shared

12:22

with you before we started recording that I had

12:24

done in person group reading recently

12:26

for some people I've known for quite a while.

12:29

And I was halfway through the reading and bring someone through

12:31

and this man was there and he was very quiet. The

12:34

woman's husband was there and he just said, so

12:36

does it mean anything that about 50

12:38

doves just landed in the yard? And

12:40

I laughed because a couple

12:42

days prior to that I had heard

12:45

from spirit, I was asking for a sign and

12:47

I heard dove and I hadn't seen a dove

12:49

and I don't see a lot of doves where

12:51

I live. And I said to the man, I

12:53

said, do you usually get a lot of doves

12:55

here? And he said, well, we'll usually get one

12:58

or two. I've never seen that many doves together

13:00

before, especially here. So was that

13:02

spirit getting my attention? I would like to think

13:04

so. Oh, good. Denise,

13:06

I don't want to be your spirit guide if you have

13:08

to ask that question. Everybody

13:13

let's pause for a moment

13:15

of prayer for Denise's spirit guides.

13:17

Yes, that was definitely your side.

13:21

But I always go ahead. No, no, go

13:23

ahead. I get confused

13:25

because I've always had dreams of

13:27

wolves or one wolf. I have

13:29

a dream where I'm walking with this wolf by my

13:31

side. And I always assumed

13:33

he was my guide, my animal guide.

13:36

But I see hawks all the

13:38

time in real life

13:40

when I'm asking for certain signs or

13:42

if, I don't know, they just,

13:44

I see them all the time, whether

13:47

I'm in my state, whether

13:49

I'm traveling to a different state, they're just

13:51

all around me. So I always wonder, is

13:53

the hawk my guide? Is the wolf my

13:55

guide? They both could be, but

13:57

there would be a primary. If you've dreamt about...

13:59

it and it's walking with you and it

14:02

feels that strong, I would say yes. Have

14:04

you ever done a journey to meet your

14:06

power animal? No, I probably should. Okay. Because

14:08

that was, there's, that's an easy thing to

14:11

do. And if you do

14:13

the journey and you see the animal,

14:15

I believe it's four times unexpectedly or

14:17

some, and I think that's important because

14:19

what I've experienced, what other people have

14:21

experienced, if you're in that meditative state

14:23

to make that connection, the spirit's

14:26

going to use the same way that

14:28

you process intuitively. So if you're really

14:31

clairaudient, you might hear a

14:33

wolf howl, or you might see a

14:35

flash of the

14:37

tail, or you might feel like

14:39

the way that they move through the woods.

14:42

So it's going to use however your clairs

14:44

are attuned to you to bring

14:46

through the animal. I

14:48

need to try that. The reason why I haven't is

14:51

because I've had all these dreams of this wolf with

14:53

me and he's got like white,

14:55

gray, and black fur is

14:57

because I just assume my subconscious will show me

14:59

the wolf because that's what I think. Not

15:03

necessarily. Okay. Because I've done this with people

15:05

and they've expected to see, oh, I know

15:07

my animal is this, and then they'll get

15:09

something completely different. For me, I've had the

15:12

same power animal for decades and decades. That

15:14

is the one that I use to go

15:17

into journey work, that I

15:19

can feel that energy even in

15:21

everyday reality. But there are

15:23

other animals that come in. It's interesting

15:25

you brought up the hawks because when

15:28

I lived in Washington state, I was

15:30

making some really huge decisions in my

15:32

life. Very, very big,

15:35

life changing. Hawks

15:38

would come and literally sit

15:40

right outside my kitchen door

15:43

where hawks shouldn't have set. Now, they start

15:45

watching them. The more you do this,

15:47

the more you get attuned to what kind of hawk

15:49

is it. Is this their environment? There

15:52

was a hawk there that wasn't even from

15:54

that part of the country. I

15:58

looked it up and I spent time. I

16:00

figured it out. And honestly, it

16:02

was a huge part in helping me make

16:04

some of those decisions. Yeah. So

16:07

again, if you have an affinity

16:09

for animals, or you

16:11

have difficulty trusting humans, but you trust

16:13

animals more, this might be a good

16:15

thing for you to explore. So

16:21

one thing that you always stress is that an

16:23

animal should show up in an uncommon way, about

16:26

three times in a short period of

16:29

time. Right. Should we give people ideas?

16:31

Because that doesn't just mean in person.

16:34

Right. Because it could be the example

16:36

I would use is I don't have

16:38

armadillos in my part of the country.

16:40

They don't live here. It's too cold.

16:43

But when I was camping down

16:45

south, a little armadillo

16:47

waddled into my campsite, unexpected, boop,

16:49

boop, boop, here he comes. And

16:51

they're very, if you don't have,

16:53

if animals aren't common to

16:55

your area when you see them, it's very,

16:57

very interesting and intriguing. But I

17:00

looked it up and it was absolutely spot on

17:03

with what was going on with have

17:05

a stronger shell, the soft underbelly, all

17:07

the things that go with armadillo. But

17:10

about three days after that, I

17:13

opened something up and armadillo popped up,

17:15

like on a meme or something like

17:18

that. I was walking in

17:20

a line and someone was talking about

17:22

having armadillo under their porch. So if

17:24

it could show up in

17:26

conversation, it could show up physically,

17:28

it could be symbolic, it

17:31

could be someone all you have a dream

17:33

about it. But it doesn't have to mean

17:36

that you actually see that animal in

17:38

person. All

17:41

right, so are we going to talk about what some of these

17:43

animals could mean? I'd love that. Yeah. And

17:45

I, I pulled together some

17:47

and there's so many. So I think today

17:49

we're going to talk about a lot of

17:52

birds, a lot of things that come through

17:54

flight, birds and insects and things. But

17:57

these are from a variety of

17:59

resources, animals. Speak an Animal Wise

18:01

by Ted Andrews, The Pocket Spirit

18:03

Guide to Animals by Dr. Stephen

18:05

Farmer. You can also

18:07

Google metaphysical

18:09

or spiritual meaning of a given animal,

18:12

and it's going to bring up a

18:14

whole lot of resources for you. Okay,

18:18

so the first one we have is the cardinal.

18:20

And these birds are named for the cardinals

18:22

of the Roman Catholic Church with their bright

18:25

red robes. They're bright and

18:27

they really stand out. So is

18:29

that a way for those in spirit to grab

18:31

our attention? If they come in

18:33

as a pair with the lighter brown of the

18:35

female in contrast to the bright red of the

18:37

male, is this a message from

18:40

spirit about relationships? Some

18:42

people believe the pairs come together are parents

18:44

or grandparents who are letting you know they're

18:46

still together in the afterlife. Cardinals

18:48

can also be a sign that someone needs

18:51

your compassion and loving attention, or

18:53

it can be an indicator that you're in

18:55

a very creative time and to pay attention

18:57

to your intuitive guidance as

18:59

to how best to use this creativity.

19:03

I had also read that the Cardinals

19:05

cry or their song, I

19:08

should say, sounds like Miss You

19:10

Miss You. And so that's

19:12

why it came up, came

19:14

to be known as a sign from a loved one in heaven,

19:16

which I thought was very sweet. But

19:19

haven't you found that many, many,

19:21

many people feel that their cardinal

19:23

is their person in spirit? Yes.

19:26

Oh, yes. Well, my former

19:28

mother-in-law told me, she said, I'll try to

19:30

show you a cardinal. Does

19:33

she? Yeah. Oh,

19:35

yeah, she does all

19:37

the time. We actually have a cardinal mommy

19:39

and daddy that have nested shortly

19:42

after she passed away. Wow.

19:45

Yeah. And

19:47

it's not as common to see pairs. No.

19:49

Maybe certain times of the year, but it's not

19:51

as common. No. But the

19:53

female one, she bosses. She

19:56

bosses him around. It's so funny. She hops

19:58

around in the fence and like he hops away from her. her. But

20:02

they are really bright. They catch your eye.

20:04

If they're at your bird

20:06

feeder or they're showing up in an unusual

20:09

way, or it seems like they're looking right

20:11

in the window at you. That

20:13

could also be a sign that they're a

20:15

visit from someone in spirit. Yeah, it'll be

20:17

little things. Like someone gave me a red

20:20

Cardinal ornament. Someone once

20:22

had a beautiful lilies delivered

20:25

to my house, the peace lily plant. And

20:27

it had a red Cardinal on a stick like

20:29

in the plant. I've gotten cards with the red

20:32

Cardinal on it. So I think when our loved

20:34

ones are trying to say, Hey, I love you.

20:36

I'm still with you. They'll do it in a

20:38

lot of different ways. I

20:40

agree. Blue Jays are another, you know,

20:42

they're really bright blue, they catch your

20:44

eye. And they can

20:47

come as a messenger about using your

20:49

own power properly. They can show up

20:51

to bring awareness of power

20:53

possibly being used against you. And the

20:56

blue Jay is seen as having the ability to

20:58

link heavens and earths to access the greater power

21:00

of each. It can be a

21:02

message about accessing your main gifts and talents and

21:04

to develop a plan on how you can best

21:07

use them to clear action. And you

21:10

know, it they're seen as blueberries and

21:12

robbers and stuff. But what

21:14

I loved was in all these

21:16

different cultures and belief systems around

21:18

them. And the word Jay comes

21:20

from the Latin word Gaia, which

21:22

has associates to Mother

21:25

Earth. And in Greek mythology, the union

21:27

of Mother Earth Gaia and Father Heaven,

21:30

Uranus resulted in the first creatures who

21:32

had the appearance of life. So it's

21:34

that intrinsic power associated with the Jay,

21:36

but you know, the blue sky separating

21:38

the heavens, which are white and the

21:40

earth, which is black. So

21:42

it really is there's a lot of

21:44

symbolism often in the colors or the

21:47

mannerisms or the habits of the animals

21:49

that come to us. Oh,

21:51

that's so cool. And then

21:53

owls. Oh, I you know, sometimes you'll tell people

21:56

you see an owl and they're like, Oh, that's

21:58

an omen of death. But

22:00

that's not always true. The

22:03

mystery of magic, omens, silent wisdom,

22:05

and vision in the night is what

22:07

they symbolize. There are references

22:10

in all cultures to the mysticism of

22:12

owls. In the Medicine Card Deck

22:14

by Jamie Sams and David Carson, owl

22:16

medicine is symbolically associated with clairvoyance,

22:19

astral projection, and magic, both black

22:21

and white. If you have

22:23

a strong connection to owls or they're making themselves

22:25

known to you, pay attention to

22:27

what kind of owl it is. Because

22:30

there are specific nuances and this will help

22:32

you determine what they are here to help

22:34

you with. All owls

22:36

indicate it being a significant time

22:38

for prophecy. When

22:43

we first moved to northern

22:46

Florida and it was, you

22:49

know, when you're moving, you have little kids, this different stuff.

22:51

And there was an owl that would sit outside

22:53

the boy's bedroom. And

22:56

it always struck me that it was there and they

22:58

would sit and they'd look at the owl and it

23:00

was there and it stayed for quite a while. Does

23:04

an animal come back into your life? Does it

23:06

show up again? Is it there only for a

23:08

short period of time? Have

23:10

the owls come back to your boys? To

23:13

one of them, yes. Oh, that's really cool. Denise

23:17

and I just want to pop in and

23:19

tell you guys about some exciting events and

23:21

classes we have coming up in the new

23:23

year. On January 8th,

23:25

I'm teaching my manifesting class to

23:27

help kickstart your new year goals.

23:30

With this live class that's taught

23:32

in person over Zoom, you get

23:34

my manifesting goals ebook. You get

23:36

a meditation to help you align

23:38

your subconscious with your goals. You

23:41

get a chance to ask me

23:43

questions about manifesting blocks and

23:45

learn how to really set your

23:47

2025 in the best possible energy.

23:50

So the four Wednesdays in February, I'm

23:52

teaching my Be Your Own Psychic class

23:55

where you really learn how to

23:57

embrace, awaken, and strengthen your intuition.

24:00

You'll get some partner work,

24:02

you'll get some individual exercises

24:04

and some fantastic feedback. And

24:07

also in February, on

24:09

the two Saturdays in February,

24:12

we're going to be doing

24:14

our class on mediumship with

24:16

Denise and myself. That's Saturday,

24:18

February 8th and February 22nd.

24:21

I'm so excited to teach this again with

24:23

you. Oh, it's fun. We always have

24:25

a good time when we do this one. And

24:28

it's a beautiful stepping off point if you

24:30

think, am I a medium? Am

24:32

I not a medium? It's a really nice

24:35

place to explore that. Yeah,

24:37

I think so too. You learn really

24:39

how to embrace your mediumship in a

24:41

very safe and supportive environment. And because

24:44

we're doing it on Saturdays, there's a

24:46

little bit of extra time where we're

24:48

hoping to do some in-class partner exercises.

24:51

But like our other classes, you'll have

24:53

some out-of-class partner exercises as well. Oh,

24:56

and I also, in January on the

24:58

25th, if anyone's in the Northeast, I'm going

25:01

to be in Virginia. I'm

25:03

going to be presenting Saturday

25:05

night at Edgar K.C.A.R.E. on

25:07

manifesting. Oh, perfect.

25:10

And I just want to put a shameless plug in

25:12

for you. If anyone is looking for a wonderful

25:15

gift for someone around the holidays,

25:17

Samantha's book, The Awake Dreamer

25:19

and Heavily Alliance are incredible and

25:22

would make a beautiful gift. So

25:24

they can find those through your

25:27

website? Yes, they're signed and

25:29

they come with fun stickers and a bookmark

25:31

with a poem I wrote on the back

25:33

of it. And I just, I

25:35

love, they all come gift wrap. I get

25:37

so excited every time someone orders a signed

25:39

book. So thank you, Denise. You're so sweet.

25:41

Oh, you're welcome. You're welcome. And the past

25:44

three years, I've offered a really

25:46

intensive mentoring program for a small group

25:48

of people. You know, I've been

25:50

studying and doing this work for a while now, and

25:52

I've taken so many classes and trainings that it's my

25:55

way to share what I've learned. But

25:57

even more importantly, it's about helping each person

25:59

find. how they best connect

26:01

with spirit. In the

26:03

past, it's been a six-month program, and

26:05

each month, every person gets a one-on-one

26:07

coaching session with me for

26:10

their own personal growth and development.

26:12

There are two monthly group meetings,

26:14

and the first part of the

26:16

meeting is direct instruction where I

26:18

share practices or techniques to

26:20

help you develop your own connection more fully. But

26:24

the second half is more of a

26:26

shared, it's practice, it's building community. We

26:29

also, if there's an interest, we've

26:31

explored business components. There's a monthly

26:33

class that we have as a

26:35

group. Everything's recorded and uploaded,

26:37

so if you're not able to be

26:40

there in person. The big part that

26:43

I think my favorite though is that

26:45

this is a real way to build

26:47

community. We have shared

26:49

practice sessions with previous mentor groups worked

26:52

into the schedule as well. So if

26:54

you're interested in that and would like

26:56

more information, please send me an email

26:59

with mentor program 2025 in the

27:01

subject line, and I'll send you

27:03

back some information. It is

27:06

a small group. It's limited to 20

27:08

people, so you really get to know

27:10

the folks. It's fun. It's fun and

27:12

it's important, and the feedback on that

27:14

has been stupendous. I hear from your

27:16

former students all the time, if they

27:18

send us a question, they'll mention that

27:20

they were in that group, and I

27:22

just think it's just a beautiful

27:25

service you're offering. Thank you, and

27:27

I love that my, truly it touches

27:29

my heart that I see the

27:32

groups and the friendships and the connections

27:34

that have happened outside of

27:36

that little program. People

27:39

have been writing books together

27:41

and teaching classes and unbelievable

27:43

stuff. It's so exciting,

27:45

and we get the nicest people. We

27:48

do. You know, I always,

27:50

in the Be Your Own Psychic and the

27:52

Mediumship classes, I always, you and

27:54

I both, encourage them to keep

27:56

meeting online together on the

27:58

Zoom. We're like, well, you already have this Zoom

28:00

link, like just keep meeting together and supporting one

28:02

another. And I was teaching a

28:05

class a couple of months ago, and one

28:08

of the students in there popped in the chat

28:10

that she was in my Be Your Own Psychic, and

28:12

she's still monitoring the meetup

28:14

groups that they do, and she invited

28:16

anyone in that class to come join

28:18

them. How sweet is that? It's incredible.

28:23

So that's after the first of the year. Right

28:26

now, I have some self-paced courses

28:28

on my website that are online.

28:30

There's a lot of good information. Keep in

28:32

mind, they were done by an old lady

28:34

in Maine, so they're not studio quality, but

28:38

sometimes that makes it a little more entertaining. From

28:40

Black Friday in November through the month

28:43

of December, if you use the coupon

28:45

code JOY, they're 25% off, there is

28:47

an option to give these to other

28:50

people as well. So there's four

28:52

or five different classes that, again,

28:55

if you're looking for a base of knowledge,

28:57

there's a lot of handouts, there's some practice

28:59

exercises. And in

29:01

2025, my might be going to happen is

29:03

a membership program. I'm not quite sure what

29:06

this looks like yet, but

29:08

it's a group experience to

29:10

build community, to network, to

29:13

practice skills, and to come together

29:15

as like-minded people. So as that

29:17

unfolds, I'll keep you posted. Oh,

29:19

that sounds exciting. Yeah, it's fun. So

29:24

we have a lot of fun things coming up. Let's

29:27

get back to the show. Perfect. All

29:30

right. So hawks, a

29:33

lot of people, and you brought up

29:35

hawks. I've seen hawks. Our dear friend

29:37

Rod, who passed recently, had an affinity

29:39

with hawks. Visionary power

29:41

and guardianship and their messengers,

29:43

protectors, visionaries. Hawks and

29:45

owls have the keenest eyes of all the

29:48

raptors. So as similar to the owls, when

29:50

you're researching a specific type of hawk, it can

29:53

give you more insights into the message. Is

29:55

it a red tail? Is it a sharp shin? There's

29:58

a lot of different varieties. But

30:01

they hawks can be nudging you to stay

30:03

alert and focused on what's going on in

30:05

your life. Again, that keen

30:07

eyesight, but to spend time studying and

30:09

observing a situation so you'll be ready

30:12

to take quick action when

30:14

opportunity presents. They

30:16

can also indicate the need to pay attention

30:18

to your surroundings, to be aware of personal

30:20

or psychic attacks. And they can

30:22

be about messages coming into your life. Wow.

30:29

So, there can be a message about

30:31

like psychic attacks coming to you or

30:33

thinking bad thoughts about you? I

30:35

think so. Do they bring protection? Because

30:37

I always think of the hawk as a protector.

30:40

Yes. I get a sense

30:42

of awe with the birds of prey.

30:45

Yeah, I do. Not

30:47

just because of their size, but there's an elegance

30:49

to the way that they glide, to the way

30:51

that they fly. Really

30:53

fun to watch them ride the

30:55

currents and stuff in the wind.

30:59

Oh, I agree. It's breathtaking. Okay,

31:02

and then hummingbird. I always get so excited

31:04

when I see a hummingbird. They

31:06

represent tireless joy and the nectar of

31:08

life. These amazing beauties

31:11

are often seen as a symbol for

31:13

accomplishing that which seems impossible. So, when

31:15

you see a hummingbird, it's about finding

31:17

joy in your life circumstances. It's

31:20

about openly expressing the love you feel and

31:22

have for important people in your life. I

31:25

think because the hummingbird does do

31:27

the impossible, it's about redefining any

31:30

limitations you might be putting around

31:33

yourself and seeing them as illusions.

31:37

Exactly. They

31:40

can go backwards and forwards and up

31:43

and down and they're like little tiny helicopters.

31:45

They are really, really cool. The

31:47

fact that they are so delicate

31:50

and so strong, I

31:52

think that's another aspect of it. But

31:54

it seems that hummingbirds come through for a

31:56

lot of people as a sign from someone

31:58

in spirit. Yeah,

32:01

yeah, I agree because they've done the

32:03

impossible. They've transcended to the other side.

32:06

And the fact that they migrate thousands

32:09

and thousands of miles on those little

32:11

tiny wings. It's amazing.

32:15

And they're pretty. The iridescent color in

32:17

their wings and the feathers. They

32:19

are beautiful. The chickadees

32:21

can be about cheerful and truthful

32:23

expression. And the black cap of

32:25

the chickadee reflects the uncovering the

32:27

mysteries of the mind. They can

32:29

be thinking, can be awakening, understanding

32:31

and higher truth. A chickadee can

32:33

help you express the truth in

32:35

a way that heals, bring balance

32:37

and opens perceptions. And

32:40

that's true of any kind of a masked animal

32:43

or bird. It usually has to do

32:45

with thinking, cognition,

32:47

perception. Wax wings

32:50

have that beautiful little eye thing

32:52

going on and different animals that

32:54

have that black cap. Or

32:56

think about the mask on

32:59

raccoons. There's bringing emphasis

33:02

to seeing things more clearly,

33:04

perceiving things of being open.

33:08

And they just sound so happy. They

33:10

do. And they always remind me of

33:12

sometimes, and this is rare, but you'll be walking

33:15

through the woods. And they'll kind

33:17

of flutter around you like a little snow

33:19

white thing. Yeah, that's true.

33:21

And groups too. Yes.

33:25

It's hard not to do a

33:27

little skip and say, oh, hello.

33:31

Okay, we've got to talk about butterflies because

33:33

I think that is such a common animal

33:35

sign that we all have seen. They

33:38

represent transformation and the dance

33:40

of joy. When butterflies

33:42

show up, pay attention to important

33:44

issues confronting you in your life.

33:47

They are about change,

33:50

transformation. And while

33:52

they may seem to dance as they

33:54

alight on flowers, they are a beautiful

33:56

reminder to not take things so seriously,

33:58

to get up. and move and dance

34:01

and bring joy through movement. Every

34:03

time I see a butterfly, I think about

34:06

the total trust that

34:09

they have just endured in

34:11

the surrendering process that birthed

34:13

them into being. I mean,

34:15

imagine being a caterpillar and you're just like

34:17

crawling through life and you got your little

34:19

caterpillar friends and all of a sudden

34:21

you're so hungry, you're ravenous and you don't know

34:23

why and maybe summer's coming up and you're like,

34:25

I gotta stop eating this much, but you can't

34:28

stop. And then suddenly you're

34:30

spinning this dark cocoon around you're spinning

34:32

this dark cocoon around yourself that's so

34:34

tight you can't even move for a

34:37

very, very long time. I

34:39

mean, we had talked about how everything

34:41

has consciousness on another show. What

34:43

is the caterpillar butterfly thinking in that

34:46

moment of darkness and entrapment? And

34:49

then they have to go through the painful

34:51

process of breaking out of

34:53

that cocoon. And it's a painful process.

34:55

It's pushing fluid through every area of

34:57

their body and their new wings. And

35:00

then they emerge as this completely new

35:02

thing. Right.

35:05

And they always say don't ever try to

35:07

help a butterfly get out of the cocoon

35:09

because then their wings won't be strong enough.

35:11

Yes. They have to fight through.

35:13

Yeah. They've gotta go through that difficult

35:15

time. There's a person

35:17

who listens to our show who is

35:19

very practical, highly, highly intelligent. And

35:22

every once in a while he'll send me videos

35:24

of the or messages about

35:26

the butterflies that show up in his life. And

35:29

it's kind of funny because it's almost

35:31

like they follow him around and they

35:33

show up in the damnedest places in

35:35

a traffic jam. There'll be a little

35:37

swirl of butterflies or, and

35:40

I think that that's, I think that spirit

35:42

has a good sense of humor sometimes. Oh,

35:46

for sure. Very often. I

35:48

get excited what I see a butterfly at the beach. I

35:53

don't know why, but it makes me very happy.

35:55

I don't see butterflies often at the beach, but

35:57

once in a while, especially back up by the

35:59

dunes. Well,

36:01

remember years ago, the Blue Butterfly story,

36:03

and I was hell bent on there

36:05

wasn't going to see a Blue Butterfly

36:07

in Maine. And then it was

36:09

showing up on books. It was showing up on

36:11

a design in a lab or to write slab.

36:13

It was showing up everywhere. And I still was

36:15

like, no, little kid with my hands over me

36:17

as la, la, la. I can't hear you. And

36:20

then someone sent me a meme that morning that I

36:22

had to make the decision and had 12 Blue

36:25

Butterflies ringed around it. And I thought, oh, son of

36:27

a bitch. That's the one I have to go with,

36:29

isn't it? Because they'll

36:31

just keep amping it up until you can't

36:34

ignore it. Once again, listeners,

36:36

can we have a moment of silence for Denise

36:38

and Zurek? No,

36:42

but I think it's good to be skeptical and

36:44

not just drink the Kool-Aid. I

36:46

do too. I'm just kidding. I do stuff

36:48

like that all the time. But

36:51

then it's like, that's what the butterfly reminds

36:53

me of though. It's like that you

36:55

got to do it on your own, but

36:57

you got to surrender. Like that caterpillar had

36:59

to weave her own damn cocoon and break

37:01

her own badass self out of it. But

37:04

yet she was compelled to do it

37:06

because it was nature's way. And it just reminds

37:08

me so much of how our life works. We

37:11

have to surrender to the process, but we have to do

37:13

the work. Right.

37:17

It's just a powerful message. And Dragonflies are

37:19

kind of similar, right? They

37:21

are. Dragonflies and damselflies, which

37:23

are a little bit different, but the

37:25

same, they're very similar and

37:28

I mean, they're old. They're like

37:30

180 million years old and that

37:32

power of light, they're so ancient.

37:35

And of course you start thinking about,

37:38

are they a smaller version of dragons

37:40

that actually were? Because

37:42

there's a lot of folklore

37:45

and mythology. People believe

37:47

in dragons even to this day. Is

37:49

there a connection and they got shrunk down or

37:52

was the world different and they were actually full

37:54

size? There's so much to think about, but

37:56

they can show up to let you know that

37:58

you might need some fresh air. in your life

38:01

in regards to something emotional. You

38:03

might need a new perspective or to make a

38:05

change. And sometimes they can be

38:07

letting you know that you're

38:09

being too rational and remember to see

38:12

through any illusions and let your own

38:14

light shine through. If

38:17

you've ever looked closely

38:19

at the delicateness of

38:21

a wing on a dragonfly, but

38:23

also the colors are, they're awe-inspiring.

38:25

The color, and I think that's

38:28

another message of dragonfly, is the

38:30

color of life. Oh,

38:33

for sure. I always like to

38:35

think of dragonflies bringing me a message

38:37

of balance as

38:39

well because they can live on water

38:42

and in air and on land. So

38:45

it's about learning to get

38:47

along and go along with a lot

38:49

of different situations and challenges in your

38:51

life. They're able to transcend a

38:54

lot of different places and times. So

38:56

for me sometimes when I see a

38:59

dragonfly, it's almost like a message that

39:01

I'm supposed to really work

39:03

on balance in my life. So

39:07

there was, you know how you'll have a flash of

39:09

a memory. And we used

39:11

to go to this lake when I was

39:13

a kid and there were reeds and stuff

39:15

and there were dragonflies. And there was this

39:17

mean kid. And I remember he

39:19

said, those are darning needles and they're going to sew

39:21

your mouth shut. And I

39:23

became very afraid of them, but

39:26

I never had heard them referred to

39:28

as darning needles before. Where

39:31

is that kid today, Folsom? What

39:36

a terrible thing to say. Well

39:39

there's a lot of, yeah, people

39:41

are noticed. I always see them as magical.

39:43

They remind me of like fireflies. And

39:46

I think it's interesting that

39:48

so many spiritually based businesses

39:51

or practices or there's a

39:53

lot of people love the

39:55

icon, the energy of a

39:57

dragonfly. Yeah,

40:01

I know. They're really, really cool. I

40:03

drew this, you know how I used

40:05

to draw on my kids' snack bags?

40:07

Yes. Well, after they're, surely

40:09

after their mother-in-law passed, or they're, sorry,

40:11

my mother-in-law, their grandmother passed away. I

40:14

think it was like her first or

40:16

second anniversary. I drew this picture on

40:18

Olivia's snack bag of like a cemetery

40:21

with a dragonfly over it. And all

40:23

these little caterpillar, no, I'm

40:25

sorry, it was a butterfly. So these little caterpillars

40:27

were hovered around this one grave

40:30

and they were all crying. And

40:32

then the grandmother butterfly was in the sky

40:34

saying, I'm still here, can't you see me?

40:37

I'm always with you. Oh, my

40:39

kids thought that was like

40:42

the most Wednesday Adam. It's

40:44

like, mom, try again. But

40:46

that's how I see the

40:49

way we exist with the other side.

40:51

Like we're still caterpillars, you

40:54

know, and our loved ones who

40:56

have physically lost their body, they're

40:58

butterflies. So they can't really,

41:01

we can't see them in the same way, but

41:04

they're there. So I just think there's something magical

41:06

every time I see a butterfly or a dragonfly.

41:08

I love it. It really does

41:10

feel like a reminder that we're part of it,

41:13

that they want to help us, we should

41:15

look out for them. It goes back to

41:18

the story from another episode about the little

41:20

boy who discovered a way to see the

41:22

pesticides on the fruit. What we're doing to

41:24

the environment is affecting all these animals. So

41:26

we have to be aware of that as

41:28

well. Maybe they're showing up for us more

41:31

to let us know that they need our help as much

41:33

as we need their help. Oh,

41:35

that's so true. Speaking of

41:37

let's talk about bees. Oh, the

41:40

bees. Bees, they

41:42

represent fertility and the honey

41:44

of life. And

41:46

they are longtime symbols of accomplishing

41:48

the impossible. Because is

41:51

it true? I've read that this is

41:53

true. And that it's a myth that

41:55

that scientifically their wings should not be

41:57

able to allow them to fly, but

41:59

because they don't know that they fly.

42:01

anyway. Right, especially bumblebees, the little chubby

42:03

guys. Yeah. Wow. So

42:06

it's a message to examine your

42:08

own productivity, to remember to extract

42:10

the honey of life and embrace

42:12

the opportunity to truly enjoy our

42:14

lives as we pursue our dreams

42:16

and purpose. They

42:20

have such an intricate community

42:23

and life, the bees, and

42:26

people are afraid of them and

42:28

they're this and that, but when

42:30

you watch them, they're really, you're

42:32

right, aerodynamically, they shouldn't be able

42:34

to fly

42:37

with such grace from flower to flower.

42:39

But if you've ever seen a fat little bee

42:41

with pollen all over their legs, it's like seeing

42:43

a little kid. They're just so damn cute. They

42:45

are. I always

42:48

feel like it's a message to remind

42:50

yourself to work for the greater good.

42:53

Yeah. Because the bee cures nothing for itself.

42:56

It's all about the hive. And

42:59

the queen and working for the greater good

43:01

of that, which I think is interesting. Yes.

43:06

Because I think that's what we're trying to,

43:08

many of us are trying to do right

43:10

now is how can we come together in

43:12

community and help each other out and look

43:14

out for each other. It goes back to

43:16

the kindness stories that we've talked about. It's

43:19

where the more we can

43:21

pay attention, I truly believe

43:23

the more spirit wants to help us. And that's in your

43:26

book on how to connect with all

43:28

the different spirit guides and angels

43:30

and ancestors that want to help

43:32

us. Yeah.

43:34

And to help us to recognize

43:37

really and truly who we are and what we're here

43:39

to do. And I think these

43:41

animals showing up in our lives can serve

43:44

as reminders of that. Or just little, like

43:46

if life is a marathon, they're like little,

43:49

the volunteers on the side of the road holding

43:51

up a bottle of water or a

43:53

sign that says keep going. Like every time I see

43:55

a cricket, I get happy because I know that means

43:57

good luck is coming to me. You

44:01

know, I think it's just nice to

44:03

be aware, like you were saying before,

44:05

of what nature is trying to tell

44:07

us. And just

44:09

as important, like you said, to think about how

44:11

we can give back to nature. Now,

44:14

if listeners wanted to do a

44:16

guided meditation to meet their power

44:19

animal, I'm sure they can find

44:21

one online, but are there some

44:23

tips you can offer? Do they

44:25

need to listen to a certain

44:27

hurt tonal music or

44:29

certain images they should focus

44:31

on? From

44:34

my own experience, learning

44:36

to journey, learning to go to

44:38

non-ordinary reality to find that animal,

44:41

you're right. There are a ton

44:43

of different ways to do this

44:45

online, on YouTube, on different things. So

44:47

finding something that resonates with you. It

44:50

can also be taking a course with someone

44:53

that you respect or that you trust. There

44:55

are books available, so we can put some

44:57

resources in the show notes as well. Okay,

45:01

fantastic. But I think it's worth it to

45:03

carve out some time to really

45:06

connect with your power animal because

45:09

they can offer so much tremendous

45:11

support and insight and really help

45:13

us trigger and trust our intuition.

45:16

Because what it feels like from just

45:18

our discussion today, when

45:20

you see these birds or these insects

45:22

or these animals in your life, you

45:25

have to pause and offer gratitude and

45:27

reflect on what it means for yourself

45:29

and your path, but you also have

45:31

to use your intuition to interpret the

45:33

message. Right, right.

45:37

And I mean, this we just touched on

45:39

the very edge. So as I

45:41

mentioned, there's a wonderful books that we'll put in the show

45:43

notes as well. But if

45:45

you have an animal that really touches your

45:47

heart or keeps showing up into your life

45:50

or that you have always

45:52

loved for, and some

45:54

people say, well, can my cat or my

45:56

dog be my power animal? I see them

45:59

more as some someone to walk with us

46:01

on the path in this lifetime. But

46:04

domesticated animals usually aren't power

46:07

animals from what I understand.

46:09

Yeah. They're just friends

46:12

and family members. I

46:15

mean, it's not a big deal to

46:18

do a guided meditation to meet your

46:20

power animal vote. What it does come

46:22

down to is being open

46:24

and trusting what comes through for you. Yes.

46:28

As with all of this work, right?

46:30

Yes, exactly. Well, and just taking the

46:32

time to foster that relationship. Right,

46:35

because then you can feel them

46:37

in your everyday life as well.

46:40

Exactly. Just as you will invite

46:42

in an ancestor or you'll invite

46:44

in an angel or you'll invite

46:46

in a guide, you're adding

46:48

someone else to your team, which

46:51

the essence. And I think, I don't know if we

46:53

mentioned this or not, but it's not the

46:55

individual animal that's coming to you.

46:58

It's the collective energy of that

47:00

animal. So if you're seeing

47:02

a hawk, it's not the individual hawk,

47:04

it's all the collective energy of that

47:07

species that's coming to you to

47:09

bring through the power, the

47:11

insight, the message. Very

47:14

good point. No, we did not mention that. And

47:16

I think that's really important to understand. Yeah. But.

47:21

Well, thank you guys so much for listening.

47:23

We hope you'll take some time this week

47:25

to just walk through nature, look out your

47:27

yard, take a stroll

47:29

through your park and really notice what the

47:32

world of nature is trying to convey

47:34

to you. Have a great week.

47:36

Everyone remember as always to show up, do

47:39

great work and share your life. Take

47:41

care. In the

47:43
