1:16

The

1:19

Lost

1:22

Noah

1:25

tapes.

1:29

While I've already started on batch 5, I

1:31

am nowhere near ready to release anything.

1:33

Namely because I don't have all the

1:35

answers I'm looking for yet. Hoping for.

1:37

There's something I'm missing and while

1:40

I'm struggling to find a word for

1:42

it, it feels like I'm the only

1:44

one who doesn't get an inside joke.

1:46

Not the isolated feeling or the feeling

1:48

of shame, but the feeling that there

1:50

is information out there that other people

1:52

know and I can't seem to access.

1:54

Answers to these big questions. Every

1:56

message I get from Noah or Sarah

1:58

opens this world up a little bit

2:01

more. proving how vast and expansive our

2:03

world really is while somehow simultaneously making

2:05

it feel small and claustrophobic. I know

2:08

what you're thinking to know. That's not

2:10

the like. I've left him behind and

2:12

you'll hear all about it next batch,

2:15

but for now I am a man

2:17

on a mission. I finally know where

2:19

I'm going instead of running blind. I

2:22

had some time on my hands

2:24

while on the move, so I

2:26

decided to touch base with some

2:29

of my fellow internets loose than

2:31

friends of the show, and to

2:33

my surprise they had digitized two

2:35

more episodes of Noah's Internet Radio

2:37

Show from the early 2000s, the

2:39

arc. Now, these were just sent

2:42

to me, and I didn't necessarily

2:44

choose which episodes were digitized, so

2:46

I had to circle back after

2:48

the fact and kind of built

2:50

context to the show. This first

2:52

episode is about lights in the

2:55

sky in the southern United States,

2:57

and while the obvious connection should

2:59

be aliens. For me, it's mistrust.

3:01

It's not the events themselves, but

3:03

how the government handles them. Begin

3:05

to question if it's the actual

3:07

government or the collective or remnants

3:10

of the fear beans. All we

3:12

know is that we're being lied

3:14

to. So, here it is. A

3:16

blast from the past. Noah in

3:18

another episode of The Ark. Once

3:20

again, sorry everyone who keeps asking,

3:23

but I still cannot tell you

3:25

my name. But you know me.

3:27

I'm the guy trying to solve

3:29

the world's greatest unsolved mysteries. The

3:31

guy who isn't afraid to dive

3:33

headfirst into the weird and unusual.

3:36

Where myth meets lore and it's

3:38

conspiracies. Welcome to my show. The

3:40

Arc. This is your one-stop shop

3:42

internet radio show covering all things

3:44

conspiracy and mystery and out of

3:46

this world. This one's

3:49

so fresh it's still warm. We're

3:51

talking about 1997's Phoenix Lights. The

3:53

Phoenix Lights, or Lights Over Phoenix,

3:55

was a widely reported incident of

3:58

unidentity. identified lights over the skies

4:00

of Phoenix Arizona on March 13th

4:02

1997. Given the amount of witnesses,

4:04

author Robert Schaefer described it as

4:07

perhaps the most widely witnessed UFO

4:09

event in history. Was it alien

4:11

aircraft? Unknown military technology? Weather balloons?

4:14

An optical illusion? Or just mass

4:16

hysteria? Let's dive into the theories.

4:18

First, we should mention that mysterious

4:20

accounts of lights in the sky

4:23

had been reported months before March

4:25

1997 in Phoenix, including by Dr.

4:27

Lynn Kitai, a witness to the

4:29

lights and author of Phoenix Lights,

4:32

a skeptics discovery that we are

4:34

not alone. Not only that, but

4:36

the lights were seen all over

4:38

Arizona and parts of Nevada, so

4:41

it wasn't entirely about Phoenix, albeit

4:43

that's where most of the reports

4:45

came from. So what are we

4:47

thinking? Kind of hard to call

4:50

this a one-off when there are

4:52

eyewitness accounts in multiple locations over

4:54

multiple dates. These events all connected?

4:56

Could the visits prior to March

4:59

13th have been some scouting missions

5:01

of some kind? For me, they're

5:03

absolutely connected, but I wouldn't dare

5:05

to hazard a guess as to

5:08

their intent. Friends stopped for a

5:10

while when they've made a long

5:12

trek to you, and the fact

5:14

that these lights just passed us

5:17

by is unnerving. Unsettling even. On

5:21

the evening of March 13th, lights

5:23

were actually first reported at 755

5:26

Mountain time in Henderson, Nevada, nearly

5:28

300 miles away. Could this have

5:30

been their first stop? Why Nevada?

5:32

Why Henderson, for that matter? The

5:35

lights were also reported after Phoenix

5:37

being spotted in Mexico. So, were

5:39

those different lights, or are we

5:41

talking about an incredibly fast aircraft

5:44

moving south in a hurry? Also.

5:46

I looked into Henderson to see

5:48

if anything there would have been

5:50

worth the trip across the galaxy

5:53

and was surprised to find that

5:55

maybe there was. Sure, Henderson produced

5:57

about a quarter of the magnesium

5:59

the military used in world. World

6:02

War II, but that doesn't feel

6:04

special enough 50 years later. What

6:06

does feel special is that Pepcon,

6:08

a chemical factory, operated out of

6:10

Henderson, and they happen to be

6:13

one of the few facilities nationwide

6:15

that was producing a key ingredient

6:17

in rocket fuel. Throw a dart

6:19

at the US and you won't

6:22

hit a city with his relevant

6:24

factory. This was intentional. Could they

6:26

have been stopping the fuel up?

6:28

Well, no. Factory burnt down in

6:31

88. Pretty tragic, actually. But maybe

6:33

the relevant ingredients are still there,

6:35

buried somewhere. Zipping along at 8.15

6:37

p.m., a police officer in Palden,

6:40

Arizona reports seeing reddish-orange lights disappearing

6:42

over the southern horizon. Shortly after

6:44

that, lights are seen over Prescott

6:46

Valley, Arizona. This thing, whatever it

6:49

is, is moving fast. But then...

6:51

It was reported that the object,

6:53

which initially seemed to be five

6:55

separate lights before it was said

6:57

to be an upside-down V with

7:00

five lights on it, was moving

7:02

so slowly and silently it appeared

7:04

to hover. It headed in the

7:06

direction of the mountains and towards

7:09

Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. Does

7:11

slowing down mean they reached their

7:13

destination? Like, when you slow down

7:15

in your car so you can

7:18

read the house numbers, were they

7:20

looking for something? And before we

7:22

dismiss the eyewitness accounts is just...

7:24

Yeah, who's in the desert seeing

7:27

things? They were also witnessed by

7:29

someone we all know. Actor Kurt

7:31

Russell, star of movies like Big

7:33

Trouble in Little China, Escape from

7:36

LA, and The Thing, and who

7:38

happens to be an amateur pilot,

7:40

actually reported the lights to air

7:42

traffic control. Okay, so then, between

7:44

830 and 845, North of Phoenix

7:47

in Glendale, more people reported seeing

7:49

the object before finally at 10

7:51

p.m, a huge number of people

7:53

in Phoenix, including many with cameras

7:56

out, recording video and photo, witnessed

7:58

the famous Phoenix lights. It covered

8:00

an incredible distance between 755 and

8:02

845. But what did it do

8:05

for the 75 minutes until they

8:07

were spotted again at 10? Strangely,

8:09

the event didn't reach a national

8:11

audience for months until USA Today

8:14

published a front page story with

8:16

the headline, Sky's, Phone Lines, Light

8:18

Up Arizona, on June 18th, 1997.

8:20

And while it sparked attention, it

8:23

was also quickly buried and dismissed

8:25

for a number of more rational

8:27

explanations. So what was it? Can

8:29

we say for sure it was

8:32

alien or extraterrestrial? No. Sure was

8:34

strange. Paypal lets you pay Megan

9:07

Trainer, laundry retrainer.

9:09

Megan Trainer, you're

9:11

tossing out my

9:13

gunky laundry detergent bottle.

9:15

Booey, it's got that booty.

9:18

That juicy boom boom back

9:20

9:23

sheets. Toss like this. Cuz

9:25

I toss like this. A

9:27

wash like this. It's a

9:30

no mess. Laundry glitz.

9:32

Armen Hammer power sheets.

9:34

More power to you. So

10:58

let's get the least fun explanation

11:01

out of the way first. It

11:03

was just planes. Another quote from

11:05

Schaefer as he claims the Phoenix

11:08

Lights consists of two unrelated incidents,

11:10

although both were the result of

11:12

activities of the same organization. Operation

11:15

Snowbird, a pilot training program operated

11:17

in the winter by the Air

11:19

National Guard out of Davis-Monthen Air

11:22

Force Base in Tucson, Arizona. They

11:24

claim it was caused by five

11:27

A-10 jets, which... Seems fishy to

11:29

me? All of these people watching

11:31

and not one of them realized

11:34

it was just planes? Yeah, I

11:36

don't know about that. What about

11:38

the low flying without sound? What

11:41

about the hovering? This feels so

11:43

standard government cover-up that it's almost

11:45

boring. Next? Another explanation that it

11:48

was just a bunch of flares

11:50

being dropped. Again, doesn't make sense.

11:52

Some of the footage shows the

11:55

lights hovering. Some show the lights

11:57

moving across the sky a dropped

12:00

off doesn't control its descent. These

12:02

are qualities of a maneuver which

12:04

implies either sentient or automated intelligence.

12:07

Also, what flare lasts two hours

12:09

while traveling 300 miles across the

12:11

night sky? It's irrational and the

12:14

explanation of someone afraid of the

12:16

alternative. Arizona Governor Fife Simington III.

12:18

That is real name? That is

12:21

insane. held a press conference where

12:23

he mocked the event and brought

12:26

out someone dressed in an alien

12:28

costume. Pageantry to humiliate those of

12:30

us open to the possibility of

12:33

extraterrestrial life. What's worse, years later,

12:35

the governor actually admitted that he

12:37

experienced a close encounter himself, but

12:40

didn't want to panic anyone, so

12:42

he never spoke of it publicly.

12:44

With that context, it's easy to

12:47

see how the joke press conference

12:49

was used to mask his fear

12:51

for something that was very, very

12:54

real to him. I

12:56

think it's in our human instinct

12:58

to search for an answer that

13:01

doesn't make us feel less than

13:03

or small. And digesting that there

13:05

are bigger kids on the playground

13:07

that can come and go from

13:10

our planet at will, it's much

13:12

more difficult. Fear makes us do

13:14

all sorts of out-of-character things, even

13:17

ignoring the truth. So what do

13:19

you think? You mean encounter? Just

13:21

a military exercise? What were the

13:23

Phoenix lights? Let me know. But

13:27

before I go, I should give

13:29

a little more context about lights

13:31

in the night sky. If the

13:33

Phoenix Lights were truly a one-off,

13:35

I could completely understand explaining it

13:37

away as dropped flares or jets

13:39

on night maneuvers, but it isn't.

13:41

It's not even one of a

13:43

handful. It's one of literally hundreds

13:45

of encounters with lights in the

13:47

sky. There are very few states

13:49

without their own sightings, and Northern

13:51

Canada is basically a night bright

13:53

if only half the reports are

13:55

true. These aren't isolated incidents. They're

13:57

not limited to North America. The

14:00

world is... these lights, these visitors,

14:02

and the time is coming when

14:04

enough of us are asking the

14:06

same question, we might actually get

14:08

an answer. Thanks for joining me

14:10

again this week on The Arc.

14:12

As always, keep both your mind

14:14

and eyes open. Good night. Following

14:16

Noah's advice, I started looking into

14:18

these lights in the sky a

14:20

little further than I have in

14:22

the past. Sure Avid listeners will

14:24

remember my interviews with journalist Daniel

14:26

Otis and euophologist Krispertowski, where we

14:28

of course talk about UFOs. But

14:30

back then, aliens felt like a

14:32

far-off problem, and to be honest,

14:35

I'm not sure I digested their

14:37

words properly. Aliens in government mistrust

14:39

feel like the root of this

14:41

story somehow, and I think it's

14:43

important we continue to ask questions.

14:45

Take these drones in the skies

14:47

in the skies of New Jersey.

14:49

Dozens of witnesses and what answers

14:51

do we get from the government?

14:53

Well, some are drones and some

14:55

are manned vehicles being confused for

14:57

drones, but don't worry about it.

14:59

We don't believe they pose a

15:01

threat. They might as well have

15:03

said none of your damn business.

15:05

So me? Yeah, I'm gonna keep

15:07

asking questions. I hope you do

15:09

too. Want
