You can tell the creators of fawx & stallion love Sherlock Holmes and his world and that they must of had so much fun making this. This podcast perfectly balances being wonderfully silly and fun with being so heartfelt and emotional. I can't even begin to say how much I adore Hampton Fawx, as an aroace lover of detectives he means a lot to me. I don't know how many times I've relistened to series 1 since I found it last summer (so so many) and series 2 has already proved to be one I will return to many times as well (especially after episode 6)
Has the energy of a really gay Carry On film and I mean this as a compliment.
For a show that happens during century XIX-XX Fawx & Stallion have a lot of ACAB energy.Good for them
I can't even say how many times I've had season one on repeat. it's such a joy to listen. the premise is so funny and clever, and the execution is absolutely perfect. it's the most found family podcast of them all.relationships and interactions between the characters carry the show. the podcast manages to show many intricacies and issues of navigating life as a queer person in a non-welcoming time, while still being effortlessly funny. when it goofs, it goofs hard and takes no prisoners. but when it gets serious and real, there are no survivors (save me, episode eight. episode eight please save me).ginormous kudos for including a central aroace character who is also, I'm pretty sure, some flavour of autistic (it's my professional evaluation, which I'm entitled to as an autistic person). being aroace doesn't prevent fawx from forming beautiful relationships. I can't wait to have more insight into his history with madge and the five years spent with james. on that note, madge's development is so rewarding. I love how she asserts her place, how she demands to be included and appreciated. and james, oof, james... truly heart-wrenching to witness his hidden insecurities push him to make mistakes. the bathtub scene from episode eight is both hard to listen to and comforting. perfectly bittersweet.overall, it's a beautiful podcast and a wonderful take on the classic holmes and watson (both the characters and the archetype). it's queer, it's acab, it's an awesome experience. season two can't come soon enough.
This show is absolutely delightful! I love the back and forth between the characters and how everyone is queer. I can't wait for more!
This podcast is genuinely one of the best pieces of media I've ever come across. It perfectly balances silly and more serious moments, and the cases are actually really interesting! The moment I began listening I couldn't stop. There are so many interesting turns, and the Voice Actors are all fantastic. Highly recommended if you like good quality storytelling 😌✨
Faux and Stallion are two gay gentlemen (but not a couple) sharing a flat, fantasizing about being detectives. They live across the street from Holmes and Watson and are very jealous of their neighbours’ success and reputation. When Holmes and Watson piss off to Devon to deal with some business about a dog, Faux and Stallion seize their chance and steal one of the formidable duo’s potential new clients.Faux and Stallion are joined in their investigations by a feisty lesbian, (Stallion’s wife of convenience), and the three of them fumble about trying to solve the case, arguing and bickering and engaging in very funny banter.Puritans might frown upon the over-the-top accents and dialogue which is littered with anachronisms and Americanisms, but none of that bothered me. The acting and writing is superb, the mystery satisfying, and – what’s most important for me in an audio drama – the characters are well rounded and original and not your usual stereotypes.
Witty podcast with clever writing, great voice acting, and sound design.
A whip-smart send-up of the Sherlock-and-Watson archetype which stands on its own. Geers and Thompson have written some of the best dialogue in all of modern audio fiction and this series puts their talent on full display.
The misadventures of the greatest detectives on Baker Street... currently.Full of humor, heart, and sellar writing and acting. Every single detail of the plot has been thought out and it is amazing.
Fawx & Stallion is an incredibly fun and funny show that has quickly become a favorite of mine! All of the fun mystery of Holmes with even more spectacular characters and acting that is absolutely topnotch. I absolutely adore everything about it so far and cannot wait to see how the story continues!
Definitely one of my favourite new shows of the year! Fawx and Stallion recounts the adventures of London’s 2nd best detectives who just so happen to live on the same street as some other geezers you may or may not have heard of. Only a few episodes are out at the time of writing, but each one has had me laughing out loud. I’m such a sucker for a Sherlock Holmes adaptation and this does not disappoint in the slightest. ----------------------------------------------------An update in 2025 to this review I wrote over 2 years ago?! The show is now well into its second season and I remain absolutely in love with the characters, jokes and fun twists on Holmes canon! The writers absolutely nail the humour and I love that we’re getting a glimpse into wider societal issues in S2 (even if Madge is highly reluctant to engage!!). The actors have such incredible chemistry and you can tell that they love the show as much as the audience which is so heartwarming. I get so excited every time a new episode comes out and I tell everyone to listen! A few notable names are missing from the show at the moment, but now the IP is in the public domain, I cannot WAIT to see what the show does with them!!
I love it: think of your favorite heist/adventure movie, this is it as a podcast.
I’ve tried this twice already on Apple Podcasts (which I don’t even really use lol I use spotify but they don’t have a review feature) and neither time has it processed so I’m trying here. Never heard of this platform before just now and made an account entirely for this but… third times the charm? 🤞 I genuinely adore this podcast so so so much, it’s one of my top ther at thw moment probably. The character dynamics are IMPECCABLE and that’s the shit I LIVE for and this is one of the best interpretations of H&W’s complex and multifaceted relationship I’ve ever seen. I would kill for all the main characters and thw writers, voice actors, and other creatives involved do such a good job at bringing them to life. The season two plot twist was so INCREDIBLY set up it’s insane I cannot get over it. Anyways yeah if I told you everything I love about this show we’d be here for hours so I should probably wrap it up but. Yeah. Great pod go listen
Started listening to this podcast while on a road trip in the mountains. Loved it so much I told my entire group about it over dinner. Listening to season 2 on another trip, one where I met up with a lot of friends. Best believe they ALL heard about it. At one point while listening to the show I ran into the room my siblings were in, stood there wide eyed waving my arms, waiting for the episode to end so I could tell them about the FORK. THE FUCKINH. whatever I like the show you get it. you should listen to it.
