1:47
everyone, welcome back to our Monday
1:50
interview show. I am so excited
1:52
for our very special guest here
1:54
with us today all the way
1:56
from Europe from the beautiful island
1:59
of Mayorca Spain. Michael Pilarke is
2:01
a European best-selling author and
2:03
entrepreneur, a mentor in mindset,
2:05
personal success, and self-development. He
2:08
has a wonderful new book
2:10
out called Master Your Mindset,
2:12
Live a Meaningful Life, which
2:15
provides a 12-step strategy. He
2:17
is a living embodiment of
2:19
the work he teaches. He
2:21
was born in Communist Poland,
2:24
and a lot of his
2:26
work is shaped by his
2:28
personal journey of... resilience and
2:30
vision. Michael, thank you so
2:33
much for being here with
2:35
us today. I'm so excited
2:37
to chat with you. Thank you.
2:39
It's my honor. You know, I'm
2:41
really excited to hear a
2:43
little bit about how your
2:45
story. really informed your focus
2:47
now in your life talking about
2:50
mindset, right? Because, you know, we
2:52
all have challenges. My mother grew
2:54
up in the Philippines, you know,
2:56
quite poor, and she was able
2:59
to make her way here to
3:01
the United States. And then some
3:03
people in certain situations sort
3:05
of say, well, you know, my
3:08
situation in life is this, and
3:10
they sort of don't try or
3:12
they give up. So... Before we
3:14
get into your book, can you
3:17
share a little bit about how
3:19
your personal journey brought
3:21
you to this, to this book
3:23
and your work today? Yeah, well,
3:25
we all have our own story
3:27
and mine, as you said, began
3:30
in Poland. I was two years
3:32
old when my parents wanted
3:34
to move to the
3:36
Netherlands. It wasn't so
3:38
easy. It was in the 1960s,
3:41
1990s. We were not allowed to
3:43
leave Poland. And it was
3:45
a big struggle. My mother
3:47
was only 22 or 23
3:49
years old. And for her it
3:51
was a struggle. And she was
3:54
allowed to leave the country.
3:56
And they also let my
3:58
father leave the country. but
4:00
you know the communists said
4:02
but the child cannot go
4:05
because they knew they knew
4:07
the parents wouldn't leave the kid
4:09
alone. So it was a big struggle
4:11
and it's not really
4:13
funny but the funny fact
4:16
is that my mom passed
4:18
away last month and during
4:20
the past weeks before she
4:22
died she started telling me
4:24
all these stories. from when we
4:26
were living in Poland, when I
4:29
was born in the first two,
4:31
three, four years of my life. And
4:33
I really learned another part
4:35
of my parents, but also
4:37
another part of my own
4:40
life, because they'd never told
4:42
me those stories before. It
4:44
was a pretty tough life
4:46
in the beginning, but eventually
4:48
they managed and we moved
4:50
to the Netherlands, where I
4:52
grew up with my grandmother. And
4:55
one day I listened to the
4:57
radio and my big dream
4:59
became becoming a radio DJ
5:02
on national radio, which I
5:04
made happen when I was
5:06
18. I had a national
5:09
radio show and I worked
5:11
for MTV in Netherlands.
5:14
I met a lot of celebrities.
5:16
Really fun time. I was, you
5:18
know, in my early 20s. And
5:21
then... I made a stupid mistake because
5:23
I always saved all my money
5:25
because you know when we grew
5:27
up we didn't have much so
5:30
my grandmother always told me you
5:32
have to save you know for
5:34
later you have to think about
5:36
your future you have to save
5:38
your money so I always did
5:40
and then one day when I
5:42
was 29 I had some friends
5:45
and they told me it better
5:47
invest all this savings in the
5:49
stock market. Oh no. And I
5:51
had no clue what I
5:53
was doing, really. You know,
5:55
it was a tough lesson.
5:57
I invested all... my
6:00
money and I lost everything
6:02
within four months and even
6:05
more because the bank had
6:07
given me a loan of
6:09
I don't know how much
6:12
but too much and within
6:14
four months it was
6:16
all gone and I was
6:18
left with two million in
6:20
debt. Wow. I was 29 you
6:23
know I thought I
6:25
had the greatest life
6:27
I was happily married
6:29
although My wife was
6:31
seriously ill. But you know
6:33
we had a great life,
6:36
everything was fantastic,
6:38
and then suddenly
6:40
everything was gone.
6:43
And I was deep down
6:45
and depressed. And
6:47
I even thought of, you
6:49
know, why should I live
6:51
longer? Why shouldn't
6:53
I just stop living?
6:56
because I had no
6:58
vision for the future. But
7:00
then, I may get a short
7:02
story, I met my
7:05
business mentor. He's Mr.
7:07
Dan Peña and you
7:09
as entrepreneur, business coach.
7:11
He was a multi-millionaire.
7:13
He made millions in
7:15
oil in, I think,
7:18
in the 80s. And
7:20
then I went to a
7:22
seminar of him. I went to
7:24
his castle, he lives in
7:26
Scotland now, and he taught
7:29
me within a few weeks,
7:31
almost everything I needed to
7:33
know to start a company,
7:35
build a company, buy companies,
7:38
and eventually sell companies. So
7:40
in the end, after I
7:42
think it was five years,
7:44
I built a company, sold
7:47
it, made some money. I could,
7:49
you know, pay back the bank, had
7:51
some money for myself. and
7:53
then I could start my
7:55
life over again. When he
7:58
was teaching you that... Was
8:00
it very practical? Was
8:02
he also teaching you about mindset
8:04
and honing into your intuition? Because
8:06
I imagine a lot of, I
8:09
mean, I know if I'm an
8:11
entrepreneur as well, a lot of
8:14
the decisions are quite intuitive as
8:16
well. It's not always so black
8:18
and white. No, no, no, both.
8:21
It's very practical. The steps I
8:23
wrote down in my book as
8:25
well, it's based on his principles.
8:27
It's based on mindset. A lot
8:29
of what I do and what
8:32
I teach is based
8:34
on the principles of
8:36
Napoleon Hill, a thing
8:38
to grow rich, the
8:40
loss of success. So
8:42
it's partly mindset, which
8:45
is very important. but
8:47
it's also so intuition.
8:49
It's also listening to
8:51
your heart, you know,
8:53
listening to your inner
8:55
voice, being in contact
8:57
with your own awareness,
9:00
not only acting from your
9:02
from your head, but
9:04
also with your heart. And
9:06
yeah, if these are in
9:09
balance, and you have some luck,
9:11
because we'll need some luck
9:13
now and then. I think
9:15
you can come a long way
9:18
in this life. Yeah, I mean,
9:20
and also by the way,
9:22
before we move on, is
9:24
your wife, was she okay
9:27
from her illness? Well,
9:29
she's, she's, she was
9:31
in her early 30s
9:33
and she was really
9:35
seriously ill. And one day
9:37
when, when we were on, when
9:40
I see, the doctor told
9:42
me, Chances are not
9:44
really high that she will
9:46
survive, but she is a
9:48
medical wonder because she's in
9:51
her early 60s now and
9:53
she's still alive. We separated
9:55
after a few years, but
9:57
we're still very close friends.
10:00
And yeah, let's say we had
10:02
a tough time back then. I
10:04
was really young. I was 25,
10:06
26. And for me, it was
10:09
really hard to handle
10:11
the situation, you know,
10:13
with the financial problems,
10:15
the problems in her
10:18
relationships, her illness, my
10:20
grandmother died. So you
10:22
can imagine that for
10:25
me as a young guy, life
10:27
was pretty chaotic. Yeah, but
10:29
again back to the journey that
10:31
leads to where you are today
10:33
and having so much to share
10:36
with others So one of the
10:38
things Michael that you know I
10:40
really noticed first when I was
10:42
looking through your book and your
10:45
steps I loved how You start
10:47
to really bring it back to
10:49
having time for stillness and silence.
10:51
I was just talking to my
10:53
husband about this yesterday because he
10:56
has offices in different countries and
10:58
he's always like texting at night
11:00
and just all over the place
11:02
and I said you really need
11:04
to carve out time. And even for
11:06
me, Michael, it's really valuable as a
11:09
working mom. I have two young kids.
11:11
But I really find this stillness is
11:13
where I do get my best ideas
11:15
and I feel recharged. But a lot
11:18
of people might say to you, Michael,
11:20
I just don't have time. That's what
11:22
people say to me. So what would
11:24
you say to someone who's like, oh,
11:27
this sounds great. And I, you know,
11:29
I like this idea of stillness, but
11:31
how do you actually carve it out?
11:33
How do you make it a priority?
11:36
How do you do this practically,
11:38
Michael? It's a
11:40
decision you have to
11:43
make yourself, you
11:45
know. It's like you
11:47
need to breathe to
11:50
stay alive. For me
11:52
it's the same, you
11:54
know, if you lose this
11:57
connection with you.
11:59
your inner self, if you
12:02
lose the connection with the
12:04
stillness within you, you get
12:06
lost in the noise of
12:08
other people and the noise
12:10
of the rest of the
12:12
world, the outside world. So
12:14
what happens to most of
12:17
us, you know, is that
12:19
we get lost in the
12:21
noise of the outside world
12:23
because we have no time,
12:25
because it's not a priority,
12:27
to take some time for
12:29
ourselves a few times a
12:31
day. I think it's really
12:34
important for everybody that you
12:36
take two, three, maybe five
12:38
minutes, five, six, seven times
12:40
a day, just a short
12:42
break. You know what like?
12:44
Like a break in a
12:46
sports game or in a
12:48
formula one race, you know,
12:51
the parts have to pit
12:53
for a moment just to,
12:55
you know, clear your mind,
12:57
take a breath, reload, recharge,
12:59
and then you can move
13:01
on with focus, with concentration.
13:03
And if you don't do
13:05
that, you lose your energy.
13:07
So when your energy level
13:10
drops. You lose focus and
13:12
the problem is you are
13:14
open to anxiety, you get
13:16
more feelings of fear, doubt,
13:18
you know, irritation, all those
13:20
negative feelings. They won't help
13:22
you. So also therefore it's
13:24
very important to have a
13:27
break, take that moment for
13:29
yourself. You know, you can
13:31
call it a meditation moment
13:33
few. few times a day.
13:35
And as you said, you
13:37
know, especially when you were
13:39
very busy when you have
13:41
a business or two or
13:44
three businesses, you have a
13:46
family, you have your kids,
13:48
you need... to have time
13:50
for yourself. Yeah, well, I
13:52
love that because when you
13:54
break it into just a
13:56
few minutes, it seems doable,
13:58
right? And a natural pace
14:01
of life is, you know,
14:03
squeeze it in, you have
14:05
a minute, maybe I can,
14:07
you know, get this email
14:09
in or just jamming everything
14:11
in and that really is
14:13
the formula for burnout and
14:15
heart language. We would say
14:18
incoherence, right, when you feel
14:20
that stress and your nervous
14:22
system is, you know, just
14:24
completely out of whack. So
14:26
that's a really great practical
14:28
tip for anyone that says
14:30
well, I can't just take
14:32
an hour here or there
14:35
But you can take these
14:37
two minutes. Yeah, it sounds
14:39
so easy You adjust that
14:41
to do it Yeah, exactly
14:43
when making the choice making
14:45
the intention So you also
14:47
talk about for some people,
14:49
you know, and you talked
14:51
about your your story so
14:54
beautifully, Michael. A lot of
14:56
people and women, I'll speak
14:58
for women, we have a
15:00
lot of women in our
15:02
community, have limited ideas, almost
15:04
everyone, but I can say
15:06
based on the questions that
15:08
we get, limited ideas around
15:11
money, around being able to
15:13
really carve the path forward
15:15
that. that we want, being
15:17
able to do what we
15:19
want, what we like to
15:21
do and get paid for
15:23
it. So you have a
15:25
whole chapter here about limiting
15:28
beliefs around money and creating
15:30
a positive money mindset. How
15:32
do we do that if
15:34
we've, you know, we've been
15:36
inherited these ideas and beliefs
15:38
and scarcity and maybe grew
15:40
up in families where, you
15:42
know, if there was an
15:45
abundance mindset? We all have
15:47
been programmed, you know, that
15:49
there is a program running
15:51
us. Yeah. So it's very
15:53
important to all of us
15:55
to understand what is the
15:57
program that is running you.
16:00
What is your operating system?
16:02
What does it look like?
16:04
You know, where does all
16:06
these limiting beliefs come from?
16:09
Why do you think the
16:11
way you do? Why do
16:13
you act the way you
16:15
do? Because your daily life
16:17
is the result of your
16:19
way of thinking, your mindset
16:21
and your daily behavior. So
16:24
if you want to change
16:26
your... actual daily life you
16:28
have to change your mindset
16:30
and you have to change
16:32
your behavior you have to
16:34
be more disciplined and if
16:36
you go to the money
16:38
mindset it's very important to
16:41
understand what is your limiting
16:43
believe according to money what
16:45
is the problem with money
16:47
you know what what What
16:49
feeling do you have deep
16:51
down inside if you think
16:53
about money? Is it a
16:55
negative feeling? Is it a
16:58
positive feeling? Are you afraid
17:00
of money? I can give
17:02
you an example. A lot
17:04
of people tell me, oh
17:06
no, no, money is not
17:08
important. I don't think money
17:10
is important. Well, money is
17:13
important. Well, money is important
17:15
in our world. You know,
17:17
we have to pay the
17:19
bills, we have to pay
17:21
for everything, so it's important.
17:23
It's not the most important
17:25
thing in the world. But
17:27
actually, it's very hard. It's
17:30
not likely that you can
17:32
live and survive without money
17:34
in our Western world. So
17:36
it's important. Doesn't mean you
17:38
have to chase money and
17:40
you have to be a
17:42
millionaire to live your best
17:45
life. But you have to,
17:47
let's say, love money. Because
17:49
if you hate it, what
17:51
happens with things you hate,
17:53
you push things you hate,
17:55
you push them. Yeah. If
17:57
you think money is not
17:59
important. Right. There is, you
18:02
know, money is energy, everything
18:04
is energy. And this isn't
18:06
a wishy-washy thing, it's just
18:08
really like it is its
18:10
physics. So if you push
18:12
the vibration of money away
18:14
and you keep it out
18:16
of your zone, it will
18:19
never come to you, whatever
18:21
you do. So you can
18:23
work hard, you can try
18:25
everything you can create in
18:27
your mind, but if you
18:29
have this... Negative approach to
18:31
money, so you try actually
18:34
to keep it on a
18:36
distance. It cannot come to
18:38
you. You have to open
18:40
your arms. It's the same
18:42
with love, you know. If
18:44
you are closed, if you
18:46
have no space in your
18:48
area, in your heart, in
18:51
your energy for another person,
18:53
no one can come near
18:55
you and you cannot. Create,
18:57
give, and get love. Right.
18:59
It's the same with money.
19:01
As we approach. this incredible
19:03
rebirth energy of spring. One
19:05
of the ways in which
19:08
we can support our bodies
19:10
and wellness so much is
19:12
flushing out the stagnation and
19:14
the heaviness, all thoughts, ideas,
19:16
toxins in our body with
19:18
really deep. proper hydration. This
19:20
is a wonderful time to
19:23
deeply hydrate your body, which
19:25
will in turn make your
19:27
skin more supple and also
19:29
bring some extra life and
19:31
vitality to your hair. I
19:33
don't know about you, but
19:35
my hair has been feeling
19:37
a bit dry with all
19:40
the heaters and just sort
19:42
of moving between seasons. So
19:44
proper hydration is lots of
19:46
liquids, of course, that's quite
19:48
obvious, but also making sure
19:50
that you're adequately getting in
19:52
electrolytes. Electrolytes are incredible and
19:55
just making sure that your
19:57
body is deeply hydrating. and
19:59
nourished down to the cellular
20:01
level and to also ward
20:03
off fatigue which can happen
20:05
on the cellular level and
20:07
also that you can feel.
20:09
So for me, when I
20:12
make my room temperature water
20:14
drink in the morning, I
20:16
also include an element electrolyte
20:18
pack. And what this does
20:20
is it gives us, gives
20:22
me, and hopefully you, I
20:24
encourage you to try it,
20:26
a science-backed mix of electrolytes,
20:29
including magnesium, potassium, and sodium,
20:31
so that you're getting that
20:33
really deep wonderful hydration on
20:35
a daily basis. Again, this
20:37
is a huge part of
20:39
wellness and beauty. And right
20:41
now, element is giving our
20:44
amazing community eight single serving
20:46

21:04
Healthy fats are an incredibly
21:06
important part of our energy,
21:08
our wellness, having healthy skin,
21:11
youthful vitality, and I want
21:13
to share with you this
21:15
incredible scientific breakthrough that has
21:17
changed my life and it
21:19
is called C15. and it
21:21
is the first essential fatty
21:24
acid that's been discovered in
21:26
over 90 years. And what
21:28
has been shown in research
21:30
is that it's three times
21:32
better, broader, and safer than
21:34
Amiga-3s. When we have this
21:37
really deep nourishment from C15,
21:39
we have improved mitochondrial function,
21:41
we have better long-term metabolic
21:43
liver and heart health, we
21:45
don't age as quickly, our
21:47
cells can repair more. And
21:50
I love that we can
21:52
get C15 in this pretty
21:54
tiny little capsule. You take
21:56
one a day. from Fatty
21:58
15. And it has three
22:00
times more cellular benefits than
22:02
Amiga 3's or fish oil.
22:05
Now, of course, C15, because
22:07
I love it and take
22:09
it myself, is vegan. It
22:11
is this pure product that
22:13
can elevate so much in
22:15
your life, including healthier hair.
22:18
Fatty 15 is on a
22:20
mission to replenish your C15
22:22
levels and restore your long-term
22:24
health. You can get 15%
22:26

22:37
I have been taking this
22:39
tiny little supplement, which is
22:41
so powerful every day, and
22:44
I love it, and it's
22:46
something that I want to
22:48
stay on long term, just
22:50
for, again, overall wellness. hair
22:52
health many reasons. It's very
22:54
powerful and this is the

type of fat that could

in our lives. Once again,

23:13
You know I relate to that Michael
23:15
because I think about when I came
23:17
back to my backpacking journey and I
23:19
was broke and I was on the
23:21
road for three years I had all
23:23
these adventures I was living out of
23:26
a tent in Africa and then boom
23:28
I did start to run out and
23:30
I it was getting a bit dangerous
23:32
and reckless so anyways after three years
23:34
I came back I remember walking around
23:36
New York City I saw it a
23:38
little bit of money to get this
23:40
rent control department and then I got
23:42
this job that I really didn't like.
23:44
And I had this feeling of lack,
23:46
like I was always worried about bills,
23:48
and it was like a struggle, right?
23:50
And then one day, Michael, I decided
23:52
to shift. I said, well, what do
23:54
I really love? I love yoga. So
23:56
on the side, I started teaching yoga,
23:58
I love, you know, wellness. started to
24:01
go back to nutrition school. And if
24:03
I look back on that time, and
24:05
then everything just started to grow
24:07
really organically, I had a free
24:09
blog, and then I started getting
24:11
book deals and working with clients.
24:13
But for me, and I didn't think
24:15
about it this way, but I started
24:17
to feel very grateful for every
24:19
dollar that came in. So I started
24:22
to move away. You said, you know,
24:24
we say in our family age word.
24:26
the hate word because I can't, all
24:28
my kids, you know, it's a strong
24:30
vibration, so we say H-word. But, um,
24:32
wasn't that I H-worded it, but I
24:34
was so focused on lack that
24:36
it was like that feeling of like,
24:38
oh, I don't have enough, it was
24:40
kind of a yucky feeling. And then
24:42
the gratitude feeling was really
24:45
nice and warm. It was a
24:47
different energy, and I don't know
24:49
that I consciously shifted about money,
24:51
but it happened along the way,
24:53
I feel like. Yeah,
24:58
it sounds all so wonderful
25:01
for you. But when I
25:03
hear you saying these words,
25:05
it's an amazing story.
25:07
And I have stories
25:09
like this as well.
25:11
And I know there's
25:13
so many people, even
25:15
maybe people listening now,
25:17
thinking, yeah, it sounds
25:20
all so wonderful for you.
25:22
But that's not for me.
25:24
or they don't believe what we're
25:26
telling, you know? Because people believe
25:29
what they want to believe.
25:31
Right. And that's very strong
25:33
because that's imagination. And as
25:36
Einstein said, imagination is more
25:38
important than knowledge. You have
25:40
to imagine, you have to
25:43
believe, if you believe it
25:45
can be done, you maybe
25:47
can do it. Right. And again,
25:49
it's not about chasing money,
25:52
but... Money will come
25:54
if you are on
25:56
the right frequency in
25:58
whatever you do. When I
26:00
was 2 million in debt and
26:02
I met Mr. Pena, my
26:04
business mentor, he taught me
26:06
how to build the business.
26:08
I built the business. I
26:11
sold it after five or
26:13
six, seven years. And then
26:15
I was financially independent. I
26:17
was 37 years of age. But
26:19
still I was deep down and
26:21
depressed. I wasn't happy. I
26:23
was very unhappy. Even I
26:25
had about 10 million dollars.
26:28
Wow. Then I went on my
26:30
sailing trip because it was my
26:32
long lasting dream. I built
26:34
a sailing boat when sailing.
26:36
But a sailing journey became
26:39
a journey to inner awareness.
26:41
I started reading all kinds
26:43
of spiritual books. I read
26:45
lots of Deepak Chopra, Wayne
26:47
Dyer, listened to most of
26:50
Deepaks and Wayne's talks. I
26:52
was listening to Alan Watts
26:54
and after two years, something
26:56
changed, you know. I think I
26:58
became another person and
27:01
then I started writing
27:03
books. I wrote Master Your
27:05
Mindset, I wrote Design Your
27:07
Own Live, I started giving
27:10
lectures, I did my coaching
27:12
program 10, 12 years
27:14
ago, I think I started
27:16
that. And what I was
27:19
doing back then was helping
27:21
other people, not for the
27:23
money. but because I really
27:25
loved it from my heart
27:27
helping other people, you know,
27:29
teaching other people what I
27:31
had learned in my life with
27:34
many eyes and lows and it
27:36
was so fulfilling and as you
27:38
said I was so grateful that
27:40
I could be the one doing
27:43
this, you know, writing the books,
27:45
lecturing, helping other people
27:47
and really I didn't do
27:50
it for the money, but the
27:52
money came in again. You
27:54
know it started flowing
27:56
and I really believe if
27:59
you're on the right frequency,
28:01
if you're in the right
28:03
track, you're doing the right
28:05
thing, you know, you're following
28:07
your heart, it's your purpose,
28:09
maybe it's not for everybody,
28:11
but there's always something
28:14
for everyone. And if you're
28:16
on that right track, you will, it's
28:18
like falling in love, you know,
28:20
one day you know, that's the right
28:22
person for you. Right. And it's the
28:25
same with business, would work, with
28:27
your career and with money, and
28:29
it will flow. That gratitude energy,
28:32
Michael, and also, like you
28:34
said, this intention to serve,
28:36
it's one of the things
28:38
Paramahansa Yoga Nanda talks about,
28:40
who brought yoga to the
28:42
West. Yeah, absolutely. Our purpose
28:44
is. mostly service and tuning into
28:46
our unique talent, our unique voice,
28:49
the unique expression, the unique way
28:51
that we can serve, which looks
28:53
different for all of us. And
28:55
then the other thing that you
28:57
said, Michael, is that really struck
28:59
me is that you were filling
29:01
your mind, you were, you know,
29:03
the nutrition you were giving yourself
29:05
mentally and emotionally was really uplifting,
29:07
Wayne Dyer and Deepak, who's a
29:10
dear friend of mine, we wrote
29:12
a book together a couple years
29:14
ago, but you weren't. reading negative
29:16
things. I think that's a really
29:18
important thing as well. And Yogananda
29:20
says our environment is so important.
29:22
You know, when we're going up, we're
29:24
trying to expand Michael watching these
29:26
days, what is coming into our
29:29
social media feeds, making sure it
29:31
feels inspiring the friends that we're
29:33
spending a lot of time with,
29:35
because when we're shifting our mindset,
29:37
I'm sure you would agree with me,
29:39
we have to watch our environment, our
29:42
total nutrition that's coming
29:44
in. So important. Yeah. I
29:46
was at a seminar of
29:48
Bruce Lipton two months
29:50
ago and he was telling
29:53
this story about DNA,
29:55
you know, and environment
29:57
is so important. Yeah.
30:00
Because a lot of people
30:02
think it's all DNA. I'm
30:04
just the way I am
30:06
because that's the way it
30:08
is. But that's genetics.
30:11
Yeah. It's, you know,
30:13
it's not true. It's
30:15
antibiotics. Yes. Your environment.
30:17
Yes. You, partly, you
30:20
know, partly it is in us.
30:22
Some small piece of us,
30:24
we kind of really changed,
30:26
but I think my conviction.
30:28
is that maybe 90%
30:30
of your life you can
30:33
control. You cannot control
30:35
everything in life, but a
30:37
lot you can control with
30:39
your mind and with taking
30:42
action. You have to
30:44
take action, very important. But
30:46
very important is where you
30:49
are. Who are the people
30:51
you surround yourself with? Show
30:53
me your friends and I'll
30:56
tell you your future and
30:58
it's true. It's absolutely true.
31:00
You know, Jim Ron always said,
31:03
you will be the average of
31:05
the five people you hang
31:07
around with most. And it's
31:09
true. It's absolutely true. Yeah.
31:12
So yeah, no, no negative
31:14
stuff. I started reading
31:16
positive stuff. You know, I
31:18
was studying or the
31:21
spiritual books. But my
31:23
focus shifted from stress
31:25
and problems and
31:27
drama to a new future,
31:30
to gratitude. And I really
31:32
think gratitude changed my
31:34
life. I'm so grateful
31:37
every day. You know, I
31:39
know we live on a
31:41
great island. We built an
31:43
amazing property. You know, when
31:45
I wake up, I face
31:47
the mountains. We have a
31:49
beautiful garden. And I'm so...
31:52
grateful every morning when I get
31:54
up and every night before we go
31:56
to sleep my wife Sini and I
31:58
we ask each other. What are
32:00
you grateful for today? You know?
32:02
And if you do that, it's
32:05
so simple, you feel that energy
32:07
of gratitude, you feel it in
32:09
your heart everywhere, in your blood,
32:11
it's everywhere in you and it
32:14
does something with you. You cannot
32:16
be negative, you cannot be angry
32:18
or irritated when you are in
32:20
a mood of gratefulness. Right, right.
32:23
We do that at dinner, Michael.
32:25
We go around after we say
32:27
grace and the kids do it
32:29
too and we all say what
32:31
we're grateful for that day. Beautiful.
32:34
Yeah. And so if someone is
32:36
saying, I really want to change
32:38
my mindset, you know, and your
32:40
book has these 12 steps, and
32:43
so you talked about taking action,
32:45
is it a series, you know,
32:47
and then we talked about the
32:49
two minutes, you know, moments of
32:51
gratitude, is it that... There's a
32:54
series of small actions that we
32:56
take consistently through the day that's
32:58
going to turn this boat around
33:00
a negative mindset to a more
33:03
positive one that attracts abundance. Or
33:05
would you say for someone, you
33:07
know, just get started and then
33:09
build more steps along the way?
33:12
Or how would you recommend they
33:14
approach a total change if they're
33:16
wanting that? I think it's
33:18
easy to start with one
33:20
question. What would you like
33:22
to change in your daily
33:25
life today? Don't make it
33:27
too complex. Don't make it
33:29
too big. Just today. What
33:31
would you like to change
33:33
in your daily life today?
33:35
Because you need clarity. And
33:38
you get clarity by asking
33:40
good questions, clear questions to
33:42
yourself. You know? So what
33:44
would you like to change?
33:46
What can you do to
33:48
change that? If you can
33:51
change that, what will be
33:53
the outcome? What will be
33:55
the end result for you?
33:57
How will it make you
33:59
feel very important to ask
34:01
yourself these kinds of... of
34:03
questions. In one of the
34:06
chapters I think I wrote
34:08
down about 30 or 40
34:10
of these questions to ask
34:12
yourself. What did I do
34:14
today to become a better
34:16
version of me? What did
34:19
I learn today? What would
34:21
I like to learn tomorrow
34:23
or next week or next
34:25
month? You know, very practical
34:27
questions to ask yourself to,
34:29
you know, say, master yourself,
34:32
personal mastery. master your mindset
34:34
and you need some personal
34:36
mastery. You have to master
34:38
energy level. You have to
34:40
master your discipline. Very important
34:42
because you can, you know,
34:44
you want something, you want
34:47
everything, but if you don't
34:49
have discipline, you won't achieve
34:51
nothing. Yeah. So that's also
34:53
important. A big part
34:55
of the book is about
34:58
mindfulness and meditation. We also
35:00
have our meditation moments app
35:02
because I know just so
35:04
many people are so confused
35:06
in their minds and so
35:08
busy and never have the
35:10
two, three, four, five minutes.
35:13
So I advise everyone. Try
35:15
to, you know, you don't
35:17
have to listen to me,
35:19
but if you download the
35:21
app, you can use it
35:23
for three months for free.
35:25
You can listen to me
35:28
for, you know. two, three,
35:30
five minutes, maybe 10 minutes,
35:32
if you have time, 20
35:34
minutes, if you have more
35:36
time, every day. And if
35:38
you do that, I promise
35:41
you, if you take a
35:43
meditation moment for yourself, every
35:45
night, before you go to
35:47
sleep, after, let's say, 10
35:49
days, you know, I don't
35:51
have to explain to you,
35:53
but you know that something
35:56
will change for almost everybody.
35:58
Even if you don't believe
36:00
in meditation, it's just a
36:02
moment for yourself. would advise
36:04
people to do that because
36:06
then you will go to
36:08
sleep with a relaxed mind,
36:11
a positive feeling, a grateful,
36:13
hard, and you will get
36:15
up completely refreshed like a
36:17
different human being the next
36:19
morning instead of you know
36:21
focusing on all those negative
36:23
events and negative thoughts and
36:26
limiting beliefs. It's very important.
36:28
You know when you were when
36:30
you were speaking Michael I got
36:32
this really interesting image Your voice
36:35
is really calming and you were
36:37
talking about It almost I got
36:39
this image of bringing the flowers
36:41
in like you're kind of just
36:43
pulling it in right because everything
36:45
feels in the world it can
36:47
be feel really confusing like you
36:49
said a lot of people feel
36:51
really scattered and they're constantly looking
36:53
outward they're on tic-toc or they're
36:55
here their conversation all day and
36:57
they're just kind of like the
36:59
flowers are everywhere so to speak
37:01
and there's this really powerful nourishment
37:03
that happens when we bring it
37:05
in and it's so simple and
37:07
small but like you said we
37:09
have to make the choice to
37:11
do it otherwise what happens then
37:13
we get you know got up
37:15
and watching death legs all night
37:18
until we fall asleep again and
37:20
then you wake up feeling heavy
37:22
and you know that subconscious programming
37:24
if you're watching like detective shows
37:26
or whatever right and so we
37:28
just he keeps this pattern going
37:30
so what really struck me about
37:32
you know your book and these
37:34
steps is that and like you
37:36
break it down to today And
37:38
it's a series of small steps
37:40
that start to change the course
37:42
of the ship, so to speak,
37:44
like, and then it starts to
37:46
build momentum. And that's been my
37:48
personal experience too, and turning my
37:50
ship around, like, okay, today, and
37:52
now the next day, and it
37:54
builds, it builds energy, it starts
37:56
to become more, second nature. Do
37:58
you play golf, Kimberly? have played
38:01
and I'm not the best putter
38:03
but I sure like I'm the
38:05
worst player I'm the worst
38:07
but I have a friend
38:09
he's he's a pretty good
38:11
golf player and he told
38:13
me if you hit the
38:15
bowl just one millimeter one
38:17
millimeter you know after 100 meters
38:19
it ends up completely in
38:22
a different direction so
38:24
if you just shift you know
38:26
your daily life in your daily
38:29
life in just a little bit
38:31
different direction.
38:33
Eventually, your life
38:35
will end up somewhere
38:37
where you maybe want
38:39
to go. And that's
38:41
very important. First, you
38:43
have to know where you want
38:46
to go. You know, if you
38:48
don't really know what your
38:50
desire is or where
38:52
your destination is, what
38:54
your outcome looks like.
38:57
Chances are high, you will
38:59
end up somewhere, you don't want
39:02
to go. So you need to
39:04
decide for yourself, where do I
39:06
want to go with my life?
39:08
And that's a big question. But
39:11
in the end, you know, and
39:13
that's also what the book is
39:15
about, it's about living a
39:18
meaningful life. And that's different
39:20
for me than for you.
39:22
And we all have another vision
39:25
on meaning. Ask yourself this
39:27
question as you're listening now. What
39:29
does it mean for you to
39:31
live a meaningful life? And if
39:34
you start living your life in
39:36
a meaningful way, maybe in a
39:38
more mindful way, and we all
39:41
start doing that, we will change
39:43
this planet. We will change live
39:45
on this planet. We can change
39:47
the world and there's a lot
39:50
going on, you know, in politics
39:52
and in economics, and we have
39:54
wars going on. and a lot
39:56
of people are confused and maybe
39:59
afraid and... I can imagine
40:01
and we don't have to
40:03
ignore what's going on in the
40:06
world, but if we take more
40:08
time to go inside, you know,
40:10
look to your inner world, feel
40:12
your inner world, make that
40:15
connection, and if we do
40:17
that, and we start living
40:19
a more mindful and meaningful
40:22
life altogether, I can guarantee
40:25
you, we will shift the energy
40:27
on this planet. Yeah. Life will
40:29
change for all of us. So
40:31
Michael, what would you say? I agree with
40:34
that. It's the intention coming from
40:36
the heart, not just from the
40:38
ego and the confusion. It can
40:40
shift over time, right? Because let's
40:42
say someone says, Michael, that sounds
40:45
really overwhelming. My whole meaningful life
40:47
all the way, you're just getting
40:49
started all the way through to
40:51
grandkids. But let's say if someone's
40:53
a student, they're starting out, the
40:56
focus, right? Maybe for them, the
40:58
focus right now is I really
41:00
want to get my career off
41:02
the ground. At some point, I'd love
41:05
to start a family, you know,
41:07
which is different from where I
41:09
am now. I have a family.
41:11
and reevaluate every few years? Or
41:13
how would you coach someone through
41:15
that? Step by step. Yeah, and
41:18
there's phases. Step by
41:20
step, you know, if you
41:22
are a student and maybe
41:24
you think about starting a
41:26
family, starting a family
41:29
gives meaning to your life,
41:31
you know, creating a family,
41:33
having a child, gives enormous
41:36
meaning to your life. taking
41:39
care of other people, taking care
41:41
of your elderly, you know, I
41:43
take care of my elderly father
41:46
now since my mom passed away
41:48
and it gives great meaning to
41:50
my life, you know, helping other
41:53
people, just, you know, even if
41:55
you walk on the street, just
41:57
give a smile to someone else.
42:01
It can give meaning to
42:03
the other person's life. Yeah. It
42:05
can be something so, yeah. So
42:07
what happens, or what do
42:09
you do to break out
42:12
of a negative cycle? Let's
42:14
say there's just, you know, we
42:16
all have moments, I call
42:18
the dark heart moments where
42:21
we just feel. that fear
42:23
come in or irritation or
42:25
some reactivity from the past
42:27
or whatever it is. How
42:29
do you refresh your mindset?
42:32
Let go. And letting go it
42:34
sounds so easy, but it's, you
42:36
know, if your hands are tied
42:38
and you can't let you won't
42:40
let go, then you're always
42:42
stuck. So you need to let
42:45
go, then you're always stuck. So
42:47
you need to let go. So
42:49
you need to let go. just
42:52
let go it's a choice then
42:54
when your hands are open you're
42:56
open to receive something
42:58
new so if you're
43:00
irritated or you're angry
43:02
you know let go
43:04
and then you can
43:07
receive gratefulness love
43:09
joy but it's not so easy
43:11
it's a choice and you have
43:13
to take action and I know
43:16
you know way back when I
43:18
was younger, when I was angry,
43:20
I could stay in that state
43:23
of, you know, angriness. Yeah. I,
43:25
I, and I, I could hold
43:27
on to each, you know,
43:30
forever. And I wanted to
43:32
stay there. It's like people
43:34
who are, they're so addicted
43:37
to problems, they don't want
43:39
a solution. And that happens
43:42
when you're irritated or when
43:44
you... you are in a
43:46
situation that you don't really
43:49
like. We all have that, but
43:51
you need to take a break.
43:53
Like, what happens? What you can
43:56
do is take, let's say, one,
43:58
two, three, four, five. deep breath
44:00
in and out. You know,
44:02
just to take a break
44:05
to step out of that
44:07
state of being, that state
44:09
of negative energy, you have
44:11
to, you have to break
44:13
it. You can break it
44:16
by, you know, you have
44:18
to shift your focus. If
44:20
you shift your focus and
44:22
you shift your energy, you're
44:24
out of the anger, you
44:27
can choose whatever you want.
44:29
You cannot be angry and
44:31
happy in, in the same
44:33
moment, you know. It's a
44:35
state of being, you're happy
44:37
or you're sad, you're joyful
44:40
or, you know, you're in
44:42
a negative state of mind.
44:44
You can break it by
44:46
being aware of what your
44:48
state of mind is. Right.
44:51
So step back, take a
44:53
deep breath, see what's happening.
44:56
And then try, really try,
44:58
try, it's an exercise, try
45:00
to move around, shift your
45:02
focus, think of something different
45:04
or just do something else.
45:06
You know, when kids are
45:08
little, the grandmother often says,
45:11
if the children are annoyed
45:13
or, you know, they're doing
45:15
bad stuff, go do something.
45:17
Go do something. Go do
45:19
something. You break that mindset
45:21
and you're out of the
45:23
negative mindset and you start
45:26
doing something and you just
45:28
forget where you are. And
45:30
I think that's really true.
45:32
Start doing something and do
45:34
something positive. Yeah, the mind
45:36
keeps us in those stories,
45:38
those narratives, like you said,
45:41
the anger can keep going,
45:43
you keep thinking. So for
45:45
me, Michael, I literally touch
45:47
my heart sometimes, or I'll
45:49
just come here and breathe.
45:51
and then get into my
45:53
body. And that's helped me
45:55
so much start to... I
45:58
used to stew a lot
46:00
and be like, ugh, like
46:02
I replay the conversation. I'd
46:04
be talking to you, but
46:06
thinking about something else or
46:08
be on a zoom meeting
46:10
or whatever it was. And
46:13
now it is this habit
46:15
of, like you said, stopping
46:17
shifting the focus because then
46:19
you don't keep that train
46:21
going. It's such a powerful
46:23
skill. But Kimberly, I had
46:25
to learn this myself. Yeah.
46:28
It wasn't easy. You know,
46:30
it, I think it took.
46:32
It took maybe 10 years
46:34
really to get past the
46:36
anger. Yeah. Yeah. We do
46:38
say you pretty much mastered
46:40
your anger now. Yeah. Wow.
46:43
Because that's a powerful energy.
46:45
Yeah, I'm mastered stress. I'm,
46:47
you know, I never have
46:49
real stress. I'm, you know,
46:51
I never have real stress.
46:53
I'm, you know, sometimes I
46:55
have three companies. So things
46:58
are not always going the
47:00
way I want. But I'm
47:02
never angry. Never. No. That
47:04
is, Michael, that is a
47:06
powerful, that's a powerful thing
47:08
to have created in your
47:10
life. I believe now I
47:12
know you can learn that.
47:15
That is amazing. It's a
47:17
state of awareness, consciousness. See
47:19
what's happening. And before you
47:21
take the wrong decision, the
47:23
wrong action, you know, ask
47:25
yourself. What is the best
47:27
way to approach this? I
47:30
can't start screaming and shouting,
47:32
but does it bring me
47:34
somewhere? It will. It will
47:36
bring you somewhere. But is
47:38
it where you want to
47:40
go? No. So what's the
47:42
best solution? And most of
47:45
the time, what's the best
47:47
solution? What's the best approach?
47:49
to solve this the way
47:51
eventually I want to have
47:53
it. I think that's... important
47:55
what's the outcome I want
47:57
to achieve yeah and therefore
48:00
I can I cannot use
48:02
my anger to fast forward
48:04
that process you know and
48:06
and you know the anger
48:08
is a negative emotion it's
48:10
a negative energy so it
48:12
it does something with your
48:15
inner world It doesn't make
48:17
me happy when I'm angry.
48:19
Why should I? You know,
48:21
there's so many things to
48:23
be grateful for. Why should
48:25
it be angry? It's like
48:27
framing your focus. You know,
48:29
we all have the choice
48:32
to frame whatever you want
48:34
to focus on. Do you
48:36
want to focus on anger
48:38
or you want to focus
48:40
on the good stuff in
48:42
life? Well, and I think
48:44
having that power to introspect
48:47
as you're referring to it
48:49
and ask these questions is
48:51
really helped again by those
48:53
small two-minute pauses. Sure. Because
48:55
otherwise we go right into
48:57
the anger, we get really
48:59
reactive, and then we think
49:02
it's justified, but it's really
49:04
just an old programming. Yeah.
49:06
So the pauses help to
49:08
dismantle the programming. Yeah. It
49:10
all works together. Yeah. You're
49:12
right. You have to discover
49:14
the programming. Yeah. And then
49:17
step by step, and it
49:19
will take time, then you
49:21
can change the programming. Eventually,
49:23
as like you want to
49:25
be programmed, you can reprogram
49:27
yourself. Amazing. Yeah. Well, Michael,
49:29
thank you so much for
49:31
sharing some of your wisdom
49:34
with us and your wonderful
49:36
new book. Master your mindset.
49:38
Live a meaningful life. Is
49:40
there anything else that we
49:42
didn't cover about the book
49:44
you'd like to share and
49:46
can you also share with
49:49
us? where we can get
49:51
a coffee. I think we
49:53
can copies almost everywhere. I
49:55
don't know. We have to
49:57
have everywhere. Bookstores, online. I
49:59
don't know, you know, we
50:01
sold over a million copies
50:04
in Europe, so here it's
50:06
everywhere in every bookstore. Yes,
50:08
beautiful. I hope many people
50:10
in in the States will
50:12
read the book as well.
50:14
It's not only because I
50:16
want to sell a lot
50:19
of books because, you know,
50:21
I want to share this
50:23
message. I really hope we
50:25
can all live a meaningful
50:27
life. Well, it's really powerful
50:29
hearing from you, Michael, because
50:31
it's succinct. There's an accessibility,
50:34
a simplicity, and an energy
50:36
that's coming out of you
50:38
that really is an embodiment
50:40
of what you teach. And
50:42
so it's so authentic, your
50:44
intention to support others, your
50:46
life story is so inspiring.
50:48
So thank you so much
50:51
for spending some time with
50:53
our community. We appreciate it
50:55
so much. Thank you. And
50:57
everyone, thank you so much
50:59
