Welcome to Frontline Updates, the podcast that brings you in-depth insights
0:56
into military operations from those leading them on the ground.
0:59
Today, we're joined by Colonel A.C. Ogun-Toye, an infantry officer monitoring
1:04
critical missions on the progress of the special military operation as of today.
1:09
Colonel Ogun-Toye, thank you for being with us.
1:13
Thank you. It's good to be here. Colonel, can you start by giving us an overview of the operations as of April 26th?
1:22
Over the past 24 hours, the armed forces of the Russian Federation have continued
1:27
to conduct broad and decisive operations across all major sectors.
1:32
Our forces achieved tactical successes from the Belgorod direction in the north
1:36
down to the Kherson region in the south. Across the fronts, we inflicted significant personnel and material losses on
1:43
Ukrainian forces, destroyed critical infrastructure, and improved our own tactical
1:48
positions to set conditions for future offensive actions.
1:51
These coordinated efforts represent cumulative pressure that is steadily degrading
1:56
the Ukrainian military's ability to resist effectively.
2:01
Let's take this sector by sector. Could you walk us through what happened in
2:05
the Northern Front near Belgorod and Sumy?
2:09
Of course in the North our North
2:12
group of forces engaged Ukrainian mechanized and
2:14
territorial brigades around myrapalskoi mykalovskoi and
2:18
Turia these actions were focused on attrition warfare targeting concentrations
2:23
of enemy manpower and armored equipment we eliminated approximately 35 enemy
2:29
personnel neutralized a tank an armored personnel carrier and several support vehicles.
2:35
We also destroyed enemy artillery and an electronic warfare station,
2:40
which is critical to blinding their battlefield awareness.
2:43
This sector, although not as densely contested as others, remains strategically
2:47
important for shaping broader operational stability in the border regions.
2:53
Moving to the West, I understand there were notable advances.
2:56
What can you tell us about those? Yes, our West Group forces made meaningful gains along the front line,
3:03
engaging mechanized and assault brigades in settlements like Komenka,
3:07
Kutkovka, Moskovka, and Kupiansk in the Kharkov region, as well as Kurovsk and
3:12
Yampol in the Donetsk People's Republic. We inflicted over 230 enemy casualties and destroyed a considerable amount of
3:20
equipment, including Turkish-manufactured armored vehicles and artillery systems.
3:25
Notably, we also neutralized four Ukrainian ammunition depots,
3:29
significantly impacting their ability to resupply at the tactical level.
3:33
These gains reflect disciplined maneuver warfare, securing terrain while systematically
3:38
dismantling the enemy's combat power.
3:42
And in the southern sector around Donetsk? The southern group continued operations with high tempo.
3:49
We occupied more advantageous lines and inflicted heavy losses,
3:54
nearly 300 Ukrainian servicemen in areas like Kramatorsk, Konstantinovka, and Chesaavyar.
4:01
Beyond personnel losses, we destroyed American-made HMMWV armored vehicles,
4:07
multiple artillery systems, and a U.S.-supplied and slashed TPQ-36 counterbattery radar.
4:13
Seizing these positions is vital. This region acts as a gateway into deeper
4:18
Ukrainian-controlled territory, and success here sets the stage for operational breakthroughs.
4:24
The Central Front sounds especially intense. What developments occurred there?
4:29
The Center Group conducted high-intensity operations, targeting a broad mix
4:34
of enemy forces, mechanized, ranger, airborne, marine, and National Guard units.
4:40
Over 360 Ukrainian servicemen were neutralized across multiple settlements such
4:46
as Novaya Poltavka and Krasno Armysk.
4:48
In addition to personnel, several armored combat vehicles and artillery pieces were destroyed.
4:54
This operation involved combined arms tactics,
4:58
integrating infantry, armor, and artillery to apply synchronized pressure the
5:03
successful degradation of elite enemy formations here signals a major weakening
5:07
of ukraine's ability to conduct coordinated defense across this sector.
5:13
Turning to the east were there any notable advances yes absolutely the east
5:20
group continued pushing into the depths of enemy defenses,
5:24
operations centered on Otradnoy, Volnoy Pol, and Malinovka.
5:29
Enemy losses exceeded 200 personnel alongside substantial material destruction,
5:34
including 5 armored vehicles and 12 support vehicles.
5:39
A significant tactical achievement was the destruction of a key fuel depot,
5:43
further strangling the Ukrainian military's operational endurance in this region.
5:48
And what about the DNEPR group's activity?
5:52
The Dnepr group conducted sharp, localized attacks against Ukrainian coastal,
5:57
mountain assault, and territorial defense units near Stepnogorsk,
6:01
Tokarevka, and Antonovka. Enemy casualties numbered up to 85 personnel, and among the equipment losses were U.S.
6:09
Manufactured 155mm M777 howitzers and counter-battery radar systems.
6:16
Importantly, multiple electronic warfare assets were also neutralized,
6:20
further eroding Ukraine's ability to coordinate and defend these sectors effectively.
6:26
Beyond the ground operations, were there strategic strikes elsewhere?
6:32
Yes. Operational tactical aviation, unmanned aerial systems,
6:37
missile forces, and artillery executed strikes against 164 Ukrainian military facilities.
6:44
These included military airfields, ammunition depots, and troop assembly points.
6:49
Our integrated air defense systems also intercepted eight JDAM precision-guided
6:55
bombs, two HIMARS rockets, and over 230 UAVs, a testament to the increasing
7:01
effectiveness of our layered air defense architecture.
7:04
Finally, Colonel, there was a report on operations in the Kursk region. Can you elaborate?
7:10
Yes. The chief of the general staff reported to the president that the defeat
7:15
of Ukrainian formations in the Kursk region has been completed.
7:19
This is a major operational milestone.
7:22
The complete collapse of enemy forces that creates conditions for further exploitation
7:26
across the broader front. It significantly accelerates the degradation of the Kyiv regime's military viability.
7:34
In recognition, the President thanked and congratulated the troops,
7:38
emphasizing the strategic importance of this success for the future of the operation.
7:44
