1:32

You can find me on

1:35

Instagram, Blue Sky, and Letterboxed. It's

1:37

just my name, Andy DeGenova. As

1:39

episode, we got some fun

1:41

stuff. I teased it a little

1:43

bit, not that long ago, where I

1:45

said I was feeling the itch to

1:47

do another toy episode. So we're going

1:50

to mostly be talking about toys again

1:52

tonight. We're going to be talking about

1:54

the legends of the Dark Knight toy

1:56

line from the 90s. I'm excited about that.

1:58

But you know what? It's been a while. We're

2:00

also going to do a new episode of

2:02

The Batman because someday we got to finish

2:04

that series. And joining me for

2:06

the fun, it's someone you have heard on

2:08

the show plenty of times in the past, but

2:10

it's been a minute. So it's exciting to

2:12

have him back. He is one of our great

2:14

Batman toy connoisseurs. I think I can say

2:17

that. It's a special skill

2:19

he has. He's out there spreading the

2:21

love of Batman toys on Batman News,

2:23

and that is our pal Jay Yawes.

2:25

Hey, Jay. Spreading the

2:27

love on Batman News and across

2:29

my office wall because I have

2:31

plenty of Batman toys hung up

2:33

there. Oh, my God, me too.

2:36

To the point where I need to

2:38

like I want to redo my office

2:40

so I can get another large shelving

2:42

unit in here because too many of

2:44

them are not. accessible and I

2:46

want to see them. Yes, I

2:48

have almost run out

2:51

of space for hanging up

2:53

hot wheel batmobiles in

2:55

box because that's a thing

2:57

I do. And yeah,

2:59

yeah, yeah, definitely need to

3:01

either make a new row under those

3:03

or knock out a wall and make

3:05

a bigger office. We'll see which one's

3:07

cheaper. Yeah, maybe

3:09

maybe the kids can

3:11

move into my bedroom. And

3:14

I can take over their bedrooms. There

3:16

you go. There you go. Because

3:18

priorities. Like, we're, you know what? They

3:20

sleep in my bed most of

3:22

the time anyway. Yeah, it

3:25

happens. What a waste of a bedroom

3:27

over here. They could be full of

3:29

toys. Second office. Exactly.

3:33

Anyway, so yes, we're going to talk about toys.

3:35

I can't wait. Thanks for coming back, Jay.

3:37

Always a pleasure. Of course. Always glad

3:39

to be beyond here. Always glad to get the

3:41

call. So. Before

3:44

we talk about toys, though, our

3:46

last episode, we talked about Superman, the

3:49

upcoming film coming our way before we

3:51

know it on July 11th. We got that

3:53

little sneak peek behind the scenes footage. And

3:56

I didn't know I was going

3:58

to do an episode on that. And so we didn't know

4:00

if we were going to cover it here or not. Turns

4:02

out we did the episode. So I'm sorry. It's

4:05

OK. But I did want

4:07

to block out the next three hours of

4:09

the episode for you to talk about

4:11

metamorpho. So. Fantastic

4:13

is ticking and please be

4:16

my guest Andy will

4:18

attest to this within probably

4:20

about three seconds of

4:22

that behind -the -scenes footage coming

4:24

out I had screenshot

4:26

metamorph and sent it to

4:28

him via Facebook Messenger

4:30

and What a day it

4:32

was So I'm excited you're

4:35

excited Like I said on the

4:37

last episode like I like metamorph,

4:39

but I would not consider myself

4:41

a super fan But I

4:43

still got that little geeky thrill

4:45

seeing how good he looked. Exactly.

4:47

I mean, it's not like I'm

4:49

a metamorpho expert or anything. It's

4:51

the fact that we're getting metamorpho

4:54

in a big screen, big

4:56

budget movie, and he

4:58

looks perfect. That is

5:00

what excites me about it. Yeah. I

5:02

mean, I'm right there with you. So

5:04

that was a nice surprise. That was

5:06

probably the biggest reveal of that behind

5:08

the scene spot. Yes. I actually. You

5:11

know, I saw a hot girl and

5:13

I was like, okay, you know, it

5:15

looks cool, but we've seen her and

5:17

then saw metamorpho kind of flexing and

5:19

I was almost taken aback because I

5:21

was like, did I see that correctly?

5:23

And I had to rewind and, you

5:25

know, watch it again because like, oh,

5:27

nope, nope, that is metamorpho and it

5:29

is completely practical from

5:31

what we can tell. Yeah,

5:33

yeah. And like we said, there's

5:35

another shot where you actually see the metamorphosuit

5:37

on a hanger in the background. Yeah,

5:39

after after the episode, I went back and

5:42

watched it again because, you know, that's

5:44

what we do. And yep, I saw that

5:46

hanging in the back there. That's awesome. Well,

5:49

well, so OK, you're excited about metamorpho. Love

5:51

it. Great. High five. But just superman in

5:53

general. Again, it's been a while since we've

5:55

chatted and how you feel in with what

5:57

we've seen so far and then especially with

5:59

this most recent behind the scenes look. I'm

6:03

I mean generally loving everything we've

6:05

seen so far. I was one that

6:07

you know on the suit reveal I

6:09

was like okay that might not

6:11

be how I would have done it

6:13

but I don't hate it and

6:15

since then I think we might share

6:17

the same sentiment can't remember where you

6:19

guys have landed talking about it

6:21

but I like it the more I

6:23

see it and especially when I

6:25

see it in action. But

6:28

the color, the colors pop, the cape

6:30

is perfect. I love the cape with

6:32

the yellow shield on the back. The

6:34

colors pop, corn sweat looks

6:36

fantastic. I

6:39

like it the more I see it. And

6:42

then pretty much everything else about the

6:44

movie has gotten me at the very

6:46

least excited. I'm still

6:48

holding a little bit of trepidation, like,

6:50

OK, is this going to be overstuffed?

6:52

Is it going to be a retread

6:54

of things we've seen before? I'm

6:57

not going into it expecting

6:59

it to be the best movie ever

7:01

made or even necessarily the best Superman movie

7:03

ever made. I just want it to

7:05

be a. a good movie, which

7:08

is, I think, a healthy perspective

7:10

to have with any movie you go

7:12

and see. I think

7:14

that's totally fair. Personally, I

7:16

want it to be a great Superman

7:18

movie. Again, I'm not saying the best Superman

7:20

movie, because those are big boots to

7:22

fill, but I want it to be a

7:25

great Superman movie that's a huge hit

7:27

that we can all be excited about and

7:29

enjoy all summer long. Yeah, yeah,

7:31

absolutely. So I didn't want to downplay

7:33

the Superman -ness of it. But I mean,

7:35

it's more just like, you know what, I

7:37

want I want it to be a

7:39

good time for me, for my family, who

7:41

are also excited about it. And

7:43

yeah, I mean, I want it to

7:45

be a hit because it's been too

7:47

long since we've had a

7:49

Superman movie that's been a, you

7:52

know, what do they say,

7:54

four quadrant blockbuster hit. Yeah.

7:56

And and just a well

8:00

received by critics and

8:02

fans alike with legs

8:04

to make some good

8:06

box office. And I

8:08

mean, in this case, kickoff an entire

8:10

universe. So I'm

8:12

hoping that it succeeds

8:15

on all fronts. Agreed.

8:17

Agreed. I mean, when was the

8:19

last time we had a DC movie

8:21

that... a big hit and almost

8:23

everyone liked it and we could all

8:25

just sit back and enjoy the excitement

8:27

I would say Aquaman maybe

8:29

Aquaman maybe Wonder Woman

8:31

for sure. Yeah. Yeah,

8:34

I mean Aquaman had

8:36

like some detractors, but

8:38

it wasn't You know, I thought

8:40

it was relatively minor because for the

8:42

most part at least people had fun with

8:44

it and enjoyed it But yeah, I

8:46

mean those those were the ones were like,

8:48

oh, it's just nice to like be

8:50

able to take a breath and not have

8:52

you know, warring factions And who knows

8:54

what'll happen with Superman, but yeah, I just

8:56

I want it to be well received

8:58

and more importantly I want to love it

9:00

so I have another great Superman or

9:02

DC or superhero movie that I can enjoy

9:07

So, you know, we've gotten the trailer.

9:09

We got the sneak peek. Now we got

9:11

the behind the scenes. But as we discussed

9:13

in the last episode, they've been very careful

9:15

about not overplaying their hand yet. And so

9:17

we know a new trailer will come. And

9:20

someone asked us in the Wayne Manor mailbox of

9:22

like, well, what do you want in the next

9:24

trailer? Eric, Joe, and I all

9:26

shared our thoughts, but you said you had

9:28

some thoughts. I do.

9:30

The main thing I would

9:32

want to see and

9:34

it's not because I'm doubting

9:36

it at all. Because

9:38

Rachel Brosnahan is a fantastic

9:40

actress, Corinne Swett. I'm

9:42

not, you know, as familiar

9:44

with him, but he

9:46

seems very passionate about the

9:48

role. He seems like he

9:51

does understand how to

9:53

embody Superman. But

9:55

James Gunn has

9:57

talked up their

10:00

chemistry reading so much. And

10:03

I don't think we've actually heard

10:05

Lois even speak in any

10:07

of these, you know, trailers. I

10:10

mean, obviously, Rachel Brosnahan was speaking

10:12

behind the scenes, but we haven't

10:14

actually seen Lois in the context

10:16

of the movie talking. So

10:18

I would love to see, even

10:20

if it's just a line of

10:22

dialogue, like, you know, you know,

10:24

hey, Smallville, you know, something like

10:26

that, and then him being jittery

10:29

and dorky at the Daily Planet

10:31

or the two of them. interacting

10:33

as Lois and Superman.

10:35

I want to see, you

10:37

know, what what stood out

10:40

to gun about the two of them

10:42

that made them not just the perfect

10:44

Lois and the perfect Clark, but the

10:46

perfect Lois and Clark for this. I

10:48

really want because I mean, we've obviously

10:50

seen that they have some sort of,

10:52

you know, physical

10:54

chemistry because they're making out all

10:56

over the place in the trailer.

10:58

But I actually want to see

11:00

them interact and speak and just

11:02

see what that crackling chemistry is

11:04

like in their dialogue. That's

11:07

a great point. I didn't really think of

11:09

it, but now that you bring it

11:11

up, that's true. And just recently, James Gunn

11:13

did post on social media about how

11:15

important that chemistry was in finding the right

11:18

Clark and Lois and so yeah, it would

11:20

be great to see to see that in the

11:22

next trailer because you're right. We can see

11:24

a certain amount of chemistry, but we want to

11:26

see the banter and we certainly want to

11:28

see Lois's personality. Like I want

11:30

to see that spunkiness of Lois and and

11:32

getting that next trailer is a good

11:34

call. Yeah. And again, we can

11:36

kind of see it a little bit

11:38

like with the the one shot of

11:40

her walking in the planet with a

11:42

coffee mug in her hand and you

11:44

know, newspaper under her her arm and

11:46

you know, she's got. Her tongue kind

11:48

of in her cheek like almost like

11:50

she's about to make some sort of

11:52

you know, you know snippy comment toward

11:55

Clark or something but it's definitely something

11:57

I want to see because that's another

11:59

thing that has made me optimistic

12:01

is When gun has

12:03

been saying when you cast

12:05

Superman you're you need

12:07

to cast Clark because that's

12:10

actually the harder sell

12:12

is Clark Kent over Superman,

12:14

you know, you can look great

12:16

in the suit, but if you can't

12:19

perform both of the roles, let

12:21

alone Clark and give him humanity, it's

12:23

not going to work. And

12:25

then he's going to step further to

12:27

say when he cast Lois and Clark,

12:29

he cast them together, which is why

12:31

they did so many chemistry reads. So

12:33

I really like that he has. At

12:36

least at least he's giving lip

12:38

service to it acknowledging that that

12:40

was his mentality going into the

12:42

casting process so I mean Everything

12:44

I've seen of the movie so

12:46

far like I said has pretty

12:48

much given me You know great

12:51

hope that it's gonna be a

12:53

great Superman movie a great DC

12:55

movie. So I want to see

12:57

some of these other things that

13:00

you wouldn't necessarily think of looking

13:02

for in a trailer, but

13:04

it's something that's really important for

13:06

the characters. Yeah, no, I

13:08

think that's a really astute observation

13:10

and I'm with you. I

13:12

also, I mean, along those lines,

13:15

want to see a snippet

13:17

of his Clark and how mild

13:19

-mannered will this Clark be? You

13:22

know, well, yeah, yeah, will he

13:24

be as bumbling as Christopher Reeve?

13:26

My hunch is no, but I

13:28

think he will be more bumbling

13:30

than Henry Cavill. So like, where

13:32

is it going to land in

13:34

between those two polar opposites? Yeah,

13:36

because he's you can tell he's

13:38

carrying himself a little. I think

13:40

it's the the Frank quietly who

13:42

illustrated all star Superman. I think

13:44

he did like a character breakdown

13:46

of how he draws Superman, which

13:48

is, you know, spine. straight

13:50

up and down and, you

13:52

know, chest out and everything, but

13:54

then a diagram of Clark

13:57

and his upper spine is bent

13:59

over because he makes himself

14:01

smaller and wears baggier clothes to

14:03

make himself seem less physically

14:05

imposing. Yeah. So, so you

14:07

can tell that Corrine Sweat

14:09

is kind of carrying himself

14:11

differently as Clark than he

14:13

is a Superman. But yeah,

14:15

I want to see how he performs it. vocally,

14:18

not just in his

14:20

physical mannerisms. Yeah, agreed.

14:23

Well, we shall see. Again, my hunch is

14:25

it will be sooner than later. I

14:28

think they're going to want it in theaters by

14:30

May at some point. You know, I was thinking by

14:32

May 2nd in time for Thunderbolts, but maybe they're

14:34

going to wait till Memorial Day. I don't know, but

14:36

I think that they're going to want it earlier

14:39

in the summer movie season. So the more

14:41

people get to see it when they go to

14:43

the movies. And I did.

14:45

I did also see how it

14:47

went. So the Minecraft movie this

14:49

past weekend with my kid. And

14:51

yeah, it had the the extended

14:53

preview with crypto and everything. And

14:55

oh, my gosh, it looks gorgeous

14:57

on the big screen. It's awesome.

15:00

It's stunning, beautiful colors, everything. It just

15:02

looks amazing. I love it. And how

15:05

old is your kid? Uh, he's 12.

15:07

He's 12. Okay. So he's an older

15:09

kid. Yeah. Um, cause yeah, Harley is

15:11

three, but she is all about

15:13

crypto, which is adorable. And so, yeah. All

15:16

right. Cool. Well, there you go.

15:18

Jay yaws is take on Superman. So

15:20

we did it anyway. Anything

15:23

else you need to get off your chest before we move

15:25

on? Um, let's

15:27

see. I don't, I

15:29

don't think, I don't think so.

15:31

No. All right. Metamorpho

15:33

rules. Metamorpho man, it's gonna

15:35

be awesome. I mean, I mean not to

15:37

mention hot girl guy Gardner like I

15:39

get I get that people are like, oh,

15:41

is it gonna be too much? But

15:43

also we're getting metamorpho and guy Gardner in

15:45

a movie guys and I mean even No

15:48

matter what you think about the

15:50

movie itself, I mean, obviously with Guardians,

15:52

he's done it. But even with

15:54

the Suicide Squad, even if you don't

15:56

necessarily like the movie itself, nobody

15:59

in that movie really got shortchanged

16:01

unless they were supposed to get

16:03

shortchanged. I mean, yeah, you know,

16:05

if you like Javelin, I'm sorry,

16:07

but yeah. But

16:10

I mean, Gunn knows how

16:12

to balance his characters and everything.

16:14

So, so again, I'm hopeful.

16:16

Yeah, for sure. Awesome. Well,

16:18

there you go. Quick little update on Superman. More

16:21

to come, as always. But let's talk

16:23

about Batman, specifically Batman toys. And

16:25

so it's time to go back to

16:27

the 90s, my friend, and take a look

16:29

at the Legends of the Dark Knight

16:31

toy line. Batman, Legends of the Dark Knight,

16:33

Seven Towering Inches, Twister Strike Scarecrow has

16:35

a frightening slice. Neural Claw Batman strikes with

16:37

wings of enormous might. Dive Claw Robin

16:40

fights with colossal power. Now the Skywing Street

16:42

Fight delivers the ultimate air to ground

16:44

assault. Skywing Street Fight comes with figure other

16:46

figures sold separately. Now, we've done this

16:48

a couple times, Jay. We've done it with

16:50

Batman and Robin. We've done it with

16:52

Batman Forever, along with Brendan, because

16:54

I am legally required to

16:56

have him on all Batman Forever

16:59

conversations. Yes. I've

17:01

seen the paperwork. It's

17:04

such a contract, so much fine

17:06

print, but it's worth it, I

17:08

think. But this

17:10

is one that is very random,

17:12

but I'm into it and we talked

17:14

about doing it a couple weeks

17:16

ago and I'm like, well, and let's

17:18

let's do it now because it

17:20

has been a minute since we talked

17:22

toys. So the legends of the

17:25

dark night line came out according to

17:27

the Internet in 1996. So

17:29

it came out in 1996 because the Internet

17:31

never lies. I would I would assume so.

17:33

It's never lied to me yet. So

17:35

1996 and. This is not

17:37

to be confused with the toy

17:39

line that is legends of

17:41

the Batman. Or

17:43

is it just legends of Batman? I

17:46

think it's a legend of Batman. OK,

17:48

I don't know if there's a thought

17:50

in there. But even in my brain,

17:52

I get them crossed a bit. Which

17:54

is why I did a single

17:56

post for all of these yeah, and

17:59

I get it because also legends

18:01

of the Dark Knight was not a

18:03

huge line So I understand lumping

18:05

them together, but they are separate so

18:07

legends of the Dark Knight figures

18:09

are much bigger and Legends of Batman

18:12

were much smaller, but they all

18:14

sort of dip their toe into Elseworld's

18:16

versions of all the characters right

18:18

exactly. Yeah So we're gonna stick to

18:20

just legends of the Dark Knight

18:22

We'll save Legends of Batman for another

18:24

time. And because it's not

18:27

a huge line, we're not going

18:29

to cover all of it, but we're going to come

18:31

pretty close. Yeah. I

18:33

think I mean, we're pretty much

18:35

going to cover everything except like a bunch

18:37

of the Batman variants. Yeah,

18:39

because that's I mean,

18:41

like any Batman toy line,

18:44

it's a handful of

18:46

not Batman characters and then

18:48

five times as many

18:50

Batman. Repaints resculpts

18:52

variants because that's what you get

18:54

when you have a Batman toy line.

18:56

Yep. Yep So we each picked

18:58

six and again, I think that the

19:01

toy line was probably what I

19:03

would guess 18 maybe Yeah, I think

19:05

we're probably leaving six Batman variants

19:07

off the table at the moment But

19:09

yeah, I don't think either of

19:11

us picked Batgirl either. Oh Yeah, but

19:13

honorable mention to Batgirl that one

19:15

was pretty cool. I almost picked her

19:17

but We each picked six, same

19:20

format we've done in the past. I

19:22

think we picked a few more

19:24

this time because, hey, we're not

19:26

doing the mailbox tonight. We got time. Exactly.

19:29

So let's kick it off. What

19:31

is your first choice? And I should

19:33

say, I'm going to put all these

19:35

on the post on Facebook so you

19:37

guys can look at them. You can

19:39

also Google them at your leisure so

19:41

you can see them because I should

19:43

note, we're going to talk about them.

19:46

But if you don't remember these, you

19:48

should see them. Yes. Because

19:50

descriptions will not do them

19:52

justice. Oh, my gosh. These

19:54

are some toys, guys. Yeah, they

19:56

went wild, but that's why I

19:58

dig it. So

20:01

anyway, Jay, sorry, please continue. It's

20:03

all right. It's all right. What

20:05

what's kind of notable about this

20:07

is we were kind of joking,

20:09

but not really about how many

20:11

variants there are for Batman. This

20:13

is a great line

20:15

for villains agree. Most of

20:17

the characters, both of

20:20

us are villains and they

20:22

knocked most of them

20:24

out of the park. Like

20:26

they would be almost

20:28

perfect representations of these characters

20:30

in toy form, except

20:32

for some, you know, quibbles

20:34

and nitpicks for them.

20:36

But by and large, all

20:38

the villain characters look

20:40

amazing. And my first

20:42

pick is the penguin and.

20:45

He comes with a what

20:47

do they call a spinning

20:49

attack umbrella that you can

20:51

put onto onto his hand

20:53

and then there's a little

20:55

knob at his elbow that

20:57

you can kind of turn

20:59

around and the The umbrella

21:01

will twirl which is kind

21:03

of neat At first glance

21:05

and even far away this

21:07

looks like a one -to -one

21:09

perfect comic accurate penguin with

21:11

a black tuxedo top hat

21:14

He's got a monocle in

21:16

the in the umbrella, of

21:18

course Does he he might

21:20

have no I don't think

21:22

so. I thought he maybe

21:24

had a little cigarette or

21:26

something in his mouth, but

21:28

he doesn't but Even

21:30

still it looks great, but

21:32

then when you zoom

21:34

in on it you see

21:36

that his umbrella and

21:38

his Overcoat for his tuxedo

21:40

are all like bird

21:42

wings. So he plucked dozens

21:44

and dozens of birds

21:46

To make his clothing which

21:48

is a little weird

21:51

and a little macabre and

21:53

a little 90s

21:55

extreme, which will come up a lot

21:57

in our conversation here and also

21:59

is kind of part of the charm

22:01

of the toy line. Also part

22:03

of what would keep it from being

22:05

a perfect penguin figure. But,

22:07

you know, it's 90 % of

22:09

the way there and no matter

22:11

what, it just looks great. Yeah. So

22:14

I didn't even notice the detail of

22:16

the feathers on the umbrella and his

22:18

jacket. So I've zoomed in and you're

22:20

right. Absolutely. I would

22:22

say these figures are six inches. Does

22:25

that feel right? Maybe eight.

22:27

This one might be five or six

22:29

inches. Yeah, because he's a little

22:32

he looks a little shorter. Yeah. But

22:34

these are these are very shockingly

22:36

large action figures. And yes, this

22:38

penguin is awesome. I agree with

22:40

you. Most of the villains in this

22:42

line are so cool and I've

22:44

been on the record before his penguins

22:46

never been my favorite because I've

22:48

always found him a little boring and

22:50

so whenever they can spice him

22:53

up a bit I am all for

22:55

it and This is like a

22:57

cool monstrous scary looking penguin who is

22:59

still unmistakably the penguin Like I

23:01

just like you know, he's got that

23:03

grimace on his face. He's got

23:05

almost claw -like hands, but he's still

23:07

the penguin so They went

23:09

extreme for this entire line. The entire

23:11

line is extreme. They didn't go subtle for

23:13

anything. So you got to be

23:16

on board with that. And I like

23:18

this creepy looking version of the penguin.

23:20

I just noticed this too. The

23:22

parasol handle for his umbrella

23:25

looks like a bunch of bird

23:27

bones. And the curve at

23:29

the end is a bird skull.

23:31

You can see the beak

23:33

there. Yeah. And I

23:36

have most of these figures. Oh,

23:38

really? Yeah. But I've

23:40

never opened them. So

23:43

I have all of these guys, not

23:45

all, but again, most in a box, including

23:47

this one. But I never opened them.

23:49

So like, I never knew how the action

23:51

features worked. These were ones I bought,

23:53

you know, 1996, 1997. I just got out

23:55

of high school. I was just starting

23:57

college. I started to have a little

23:59

bit of extra money. And so I started buying

24:01

these things, but never even bother opening them. So

24:03

Yeah, it's fun to actually look back at them

24:05

and know that I've got a bunch, you know,

24:07

on the garage. Very

24:10

nice. All right. So the penguin,

24:12

a good first choice. I

24:15

again, I dig the look of this

24:17

penguin. It's it is cool. It's nineties, but

24:19

I dig it. Me

24:22

too. All right. Perfect.

24:24

All right. So I am going

24:26

to go with my first choice

24:28

and I am going with a

24:30

Batman variant. We're not

24:32

doing many. But I felt like

24:34

we needed at least one. And

24:37

I am a sucker

24:39

for ice themed batsuits.

24:42

They're ridiculous. They're

24:44

silly, but somehow they make

24:46

me happy. And so I went

24:48

with Glacier Shield Batman, which

24:51

the titles, you got to love

24:53

the way they name these Glacier Shield

24:55

Batman. And so it

24:57

is. The

24:59

look of Batman in this

25:01

entire line is pretty much consistent,

25:03

but this is white and

25:05

a deep bright blue together, and

25:07

the white wings and his

25:09

white shoulders, they all look like

25:12

ice. So this is what.

25:14

Batman would wear to fight Mr.

25:16

Freeze. And so yeah,

25:18

I love ice themed stuff anyway. And

25:20

I think this is a cool

25:22

looking Batman. Hey, what's that? Oh, yeah.

25:25

Sorry. I mean, even

25:27

even the bat symbol is blue

25:29

and white instead of yellow and white.

25:31

And I dig that too. He's

25:33

got these weird giant ice axes. I

25:35

don't think you really need them.

25:37

But the big extreme over the top

25:39

ice cape, I think is a

25:41

pretty awesome look. So,

25:44

yeah, Glacier Shield Batman. I

25:46

love the colors. I dig it.

25:48

If I was going to get one that's not the classic

25:50

Batman, this would be the one. Yeah,

25:53

definitely. That blue is really,

25:55

really... I mean, just a...

25:57

pretty blue because yeah, it's

25:59

it's bright, but also like a deeper

26:01

hue too. So it's not just

26:04

like that, like an aquamarine or cerulean

26:06

or something like that. I mean,

26:08

this is a it's a darker blue,

26:10

but it still pops. And I

26:12

mean, to go along with the nineties

26:14

-ness of it, you know, back then

26:16

you would have some artists would

26:19

draw Batman with ridiculous shoulder spikes under

26:21

his cape. And this is just.

26:23

going one step further and and I

26:25

like it. Yeah. I mean, looking

26:27

at the the box, which I didn't

26:29

notice this, but the boxes actually

26:31

say Elseworlds on it. Did you notice

26:33

that? No. Yeah, but in

26:36

the bottom right corner, there's

26:38

a little you can see it better on the

26:40

penguin photo, but there's a little

26:42

blue circle in the bottom right. Oh,

26:44

you're right. Yeah. It says elsewhere. So

26:46

it's like, oh, fitting enough. But no,

26:48

this I mean, that's a cool looking

26:50

figure. It's ridiculous. But you know what?

26:53

That's that's what we're here for is

26:55

right, right? It was Batman Batman toys

26:57

and ridiculous in the best possible way.

26:59

Absolutely. All right,

27:01

cool. So yeah, that's my

27:03

big Batman variant thought it was

27:05

a good icebreaker Hey One

27:07

there you didn't even mean to

27:09

do that. Anyway, it's Really

27:12

neat and I this one I

27:14

do not own but it

27:16

does make me want to go

27:18

on eBay So all right,

27:20

what is your next choice Jay?

27:22

My next choice is jungle

27:24

rage Robin I picked

27:26

this for the same reason. I

27:28

think you picked another

27:31

figure is because it's Robin

27:33

and I love Robin

27:35

and Sam. I mean, there

27:37

are two. So, you know, I picked

27:39

one of them. I don't

27:41

know why this one in

27:43

particular. I mean,

27:45

the camo cape

27:48

is insanity, but you

27:50

know, Still kind of cool. I

27:52

actually, you know take away

27:54

the scales and everything

27:56

I like the way the

27:58

suit looks from a

28:00

color standpoint like with The

28:03

boots are you know kind of black,

28:05

but then you got the green of

28:07

the leggings going up into the torso

28:09

But then it turning into like a red

28:11

chess piece with green shoulders and then

28:13

red sleeves I think that's kind of

28:15

cool like if you could get a more

28:18

traditional looking Robin suit with those kind

28:20

of colors I don't know it might

28:22

it might work it might look a

28:24

little little different than we're used to but

28:26

the idea there I just kind of

28:28

like but I mean mostly I

28:30

love Robin. I've always loved Robin and

28:32

I will take a Robin action figure

28:35

any day of the week. So I

28:37

chose Jungle Rage Robin. Awesome.

28:39

Yeah, this one is crazy. Like

28:42

you said, I'm just happy to

28:44

see Robin and the face, the

28:46

head sculpt of him is a great

28:48

looking Robin. I love, I love

28:51

the mask. It's a little more of

28:53

a Nightwing style mask, but I love

28:55

it. I like how he looks. He's

28:57

got the the 90s Tim Drake insignia

28:59

on his chest, which is perfect. Timer.

29:01

Yeah, it's the best. And you're right.

29:03

The colors are really great. I

29:06

grew through the camo. The camo cape is

29:08

where they lose me a bit. But

29:10

it's jungle rage Robin. So what are you going

29:12

to do? So again, the accessories

29:15

are a bit much. He also

29:17

comes with a face mask that almost

29:19

looks like a like a Casey

29:21

Jones type mask or Jason X or

29:23

something. Yes, that is very much

29:25

a Jason X. So

29:28

yeah, I mean, it's a pretty

29:30

cool Robin figure. And

29:32

to your point, if you lose

29:34

the shoulder pads and you give him

29:36

a black cape. He's

29:38

pretty close to a classic Robin

29:40

or 90s classic Robin. If

29:42

you. Yeah. Yeah. Look really good.

29:45

Just toning it down a little bit.

29:47

Yeah. And that's honestly my biggest

29:49

complaint with the line is you get

29:51

two Robins and we're going to talk about

29:53

them both. But I wish they would

29:55

have done just a traditional Robin because I

29:57

would have loved to have seen the

29:59

90s traditional Robin in this style. But they

30:01

did. They did Jungle Rage and then

30:03

they did the one we're about to talk

30:05

about. Yeah. And I mean. Batman

30:08

really doesn't get much more. So

30:10

it's I mean, that clearly wasn't the

30:12

focus of the line. But even

30:14

still, Batman does get a more traditional

30:16

look in one of the figure.

30:18

Well, two of the figures that. So

30:21

yeah, even if you get a robin

30:23

with a traditional look and snap on

30:25

a bunch of weird accessories, you know,

30:28

that would have been preferable to. But,

30:30

you know, take what we can get

30:32

and, you know, just just

30:34

enjoy what we have. Yeah, for

30:36

sure. And mean

30:38

but like the villains are relatively traditional

30:40

so that's why it's like you should

30:42

still do kind of a classic of

30:45

all and then you can go nuts

30:47

with jungle rage and whatnot yeah all

30:49

right well then as long as we're

30:51

talking Robin I might as well talk

30:53

about my my choice as well and

30:55

that is dive claw Robin so this

30:57

is the underwater Robin And

30:59

it's a it's a different face

31:01

of a different mask. This is

31:03

the rounder version of the mask.

31:05

And this is instead of a

31:07

cape, it's more like underwater wings

31:09

that he's got. But the

31:11

reason I picked this one is

31:13

the colors. I think the colors

31:16

are just great. It is red

31:18

and green to the nth degree,

31:20

but again, very deep, deep versions

31:22

of red and green. And it

31:24

just, yeah, it's. And it's just

31:26

a great combo on him. And

31:28

if I were going to buy

31:30

one of the Robins, I would

31:32

pick this one just because he

31:34

looks enough like a classic Robin,

31:36

but also has enough of this

31:38

crazy Elseworlds underwater twist to him.

31:40

So I think he's, yeah, I think he's super cool

31:42

looking. And yeah, I just

31:44

dig this design for what

31:47

Robin in an underwater suit would

31:49

look like. Yeah, and honestly,

31:51

if I were to pick one

31:53

figure from the entire line

31:55

just to buy to have something

31:57

from the line, it would

31:59

probably be this one because this

32:01

is the figure I remember

32:03

the most. I don't think I

32:06

ever owned any of these

32:08

back in the 90s, but I

32:10

remember always seeing a dive

32:12

claw Robin, you know, going to,

32:14

you know, Walmart or Target

32:16

or even like the Warner Brothers

32:18

store. I remember seeing this

32:20

one a lot. And I know

32:22

I saw other figures like other

32:24

Batman figures, but this one stuck

32:26

out probably because I've always like

32:28

Robin so much. Yeah, of course.

32:30

And I've got to correct myself

32:32

is I assumed this was an

32:34

underwater one and. As it so

32:36

happens, I found pictures of the

32:38

front and back of the package.

32:40

It's not. It's dive claw in

32:42

that he is flying and diving

32:44

towards people. He is not underwater,

32:47

so that was an assumption on

32:49

my part, my bad. But

32:51

I also have the

32:53

premise of the toy line.

32:57

So yeah, so here it is.

32:59

It's on the back of the

33:01

package and this was one of

33:03

the only ones where I found

33:05

the back It says from a

33:07

horrible nightmare Batman awakens to a

33:09

twisted parallel world where the criminals

33:11

are in total tyrannical control in

33:13

this apocalyptic vision of Gotham City

33:15

The villains are unimaginably deadly and

33:17

the Dark Knight finds himself surrounded

33:19

to fight back and regain control

33:21

He develops neural suit technology that

33:23

acts as an integral part of

33:25

his being tapping into his thoughts

33:27

and impulses and automatically reacting to

33:29

danger without hesitation. Now Batman

33:31

becomes a living breathing weapon and

33:34

his adventures become legends of the

33:36

Dark Knight. And also Robin is

33:38

there. And Robin. Um

33:40

so yeah it says dive plow

33:42

robin looks uh oh locks

33:44

onto batman's neural suit technology using

33:46

it to turn his cape

33:48

into an enormous power glide wings

33:50

that allow him to track

33:52

down gotham city's most horrific evildoers

33:54

in relentless pursuit when he's

33:56

got them cornered he launches a

33:58

blast attack missile sending it

34:00

hurtling with excessive force see instructions

34:02

on bottom of package so

34:04

um So yeah, that's the premise.

34:06

It is is the whole

34:08

thing is Elseworlds. And that's why

34:10

the villains are a little

34:12

extreme is because these are like

34:14

the deadliest, most tyrannical versions

34:16

of them. And so the reason

34:18

Batman and Robin are wearing

34:20

all this extra random gear is

34:22

because it's neural suit technology. So

34:25

really, when we thought they went too

34:27

far, they did not go far enough.

34:29

Maybe not. Yeah. So

34:31

all right. So so jungle

34:33

was a jungle strike, Robin.

34:36

and going back to it. Or Jungle

34:38

Rage Robin. Jungle Rage Robin. He's mad.

34:41

Yeah. Jungle Rage. He's mad. He's

34:43

got to be in the jungle. Like

34:45

those suits, you know, make you sweat.

34:47

He wasn't a fan. And

34:49

then Dive Claw Robin. Both

34:51

super cool. Yes. I

34:54

would like to own either of them. I

34:56

would gladly own either of them. So.

34:59

Yeah, I guess we're just moving. I don't

35:01

remember if I have them. So now

35:03

I need to dig it up and find

35:06

out. But anyway, continue. What is your

35:08

next choice? I'm just going to

35:10

go in the order that you place these

35:12

in this little gallery. So I did it.

35:14

I did it in my best guess for

35:16

you. And so I don't know how close

35:18

I can. Honestly, I mean, you got number

35:20

one right. Everything else just kind of fell

35:22

into place. So I mean, great. So.

35:26

That's the only one that really mattered. So

35:28

I appreciate it. And, you know, I'd

35:30

say that you got it pretty close. Next

35:33

is Lethal Impact

35:35

Bane. If

35:38

you remember back to

35:40

our Batman and Robin

35:42

toy episode, I'm

35:45

pretty sure one of us, probably

35:47

me, maybe it was you,

35:49

I don't remember, picked Bane because

35:51

that was like the perfect

35:53

Bane action figure. Like

35:55

I don't I don't remember who

35:57

picked it either. But also it

35:59

doesn't matter because as long as

36:01

someone picked it, we had it

36:03

covered. Yes. And I mean, it

36:05

is to this day, probably the

36:07

best Bain action figure of all

36:09

time. This one is close. Lethal

36:12

impact Bain. He's got that

36:14

luchador look with the the

36:16

mask and, you know, the

36:18

deep, deep. Deep v -neck

36:20

shirt and he's got tubes

36:23

running all over him and

36:25

has some What does it

36:27

say? With venom powered

36:29

punch and stinger gauntlet, so he

36:31

has some weird, you know

36:33

Gauntlet you can he can put

36:35

on his arm to it's

36:37

that big red piece and so

36:40

it looks like two big

36:42

spikes. Yeah. Yeah So he can

36:44

put that on his arm

36:46

and sting Batman and Robin, I

36:48

guess This pain is a

36:50

scorpion. Yes, which come to think

36:52

of it that'd be kind

36:55

of awesome. Yeah Anyway, anyway, it

36:57

looks almost perfect save for

36:59

maybe two things one is well,

37:01

they're both minor the The

37:04

tubes he has running on him

37:06

are red. I think they should be

37:08

green because venom is is green

37:10

But hey, maybe in this legends of

37:12

the dark night neural link, you

37:15

know dream world whatever It recycles his

37:17

blood or something and you know,

37:19

that's more hardcore. I don't know but

37:21

Let's go with that. I like

37:23

that headcanon change You put more thought

37:25

to it. I then I did

37:28

I just thought you know, they're like

37:30

red red school Yeah, it'll break

37:32

up the blue. Yeah. Sure. Put more

37:34

thought into it. They did too. But

37:37

then he also

37:39

has a massive, glorious

37:41

head of hair. Yeah.

37:44

Yeah. Which

37:46

I don't know. It's

37:49

just weird because it's not. I mean, if

37:51

they put hair. like on

37:53

his arms and maybe bursting through

37:55

his genes and everything. You

37:57

say, OK, maybe he's going into

37:59

some sort of like werewolf

38:01

type beast mode or something. But

38:03

no, this is the only evidence

38:06

of hair on Bane's body. And

38:08

it's just a little out of

38:10

place. Mm hmm. I am

38:12

with you. If you had wanted to tell me this

38:14

is the best Bane figure of all time, I

38:16

wouldn't even fight you on it because it is awesome.

38:19

You know. You can certainly quibble, but

38:21

I think it's an awesome bane. I

38:24

agree. The only part that always threw me

38:26

off was that huge hair. I

38:28

was like, it's like a huge bulbous ponytail in

38:30

the back of his head. If you

38:32

remove that, I would argue it's a perfect bane

38:34

figure. The red tubes didn't even

38:36

I didn't even think twice about it

38:38

because he looks awesome. He's huge. He's

38:40

scary. He looks like bane. But yeah,

38:42

the hair is like the only thing

38:44

that really differentiates him from what I

38:46

would expect from a more traditional looking.

38:49

Bane anyway. Yeah, if it didn't have the

38:51

hair, I probably wouldn't have even mentioned

38:53

the tubes just because like, you know what?

38:55

That's the only thing I find wrong

38:57

with this figure. We're

38:59

we're doing good here. But I mean, the

39:01

fact that, you know, complaining about plastic

39:03

hair on an action figure seems a little,

39:05

you know, nitpicky. I decided to, you

39:07

know, might as well bring it up. But

39:09

yeah, I would have brought it up

39:11

anyway of just being like, I'm being like,

39:13

yeah, but I don't remember Bane ever

39:16

having that that huge. Chunk

39:18

of ponytail in the back, but this

39:20

version does and I don't even hate

39:22

it. It just is the one thing

39:24

where you go. Oh, it's weird. Yeah,

39:26

the good thing though is I'm sure

39:29

it's probably easy to you know, take

39:31

an exacto knife and just lop it

39:33

off and then maybe, you know, repaint

39:35

it. So, you know, if anyone out

39:37

there wants to try that, you know,

39:39

let us know. Let us know your

39:41

findings. Awesome. Well, no, that's it's a

39:43

great bane figure. Great choice. This is

39:45

one that I know I have. I

39:47

love it. All right,

39:49

let's stick with villains, my friend. And

39:52

we're going to talk about laughing

39:54

gas joker. Another

39:56

one I know I've got. And

39:59

so this joker, the

40:02

face is awesome. I think

40:04

it's a great joker face,

40:06

great awesome green hair, very

40:08

comics, big huge,

40:10

red -lipped smile, great

40:13

Joker face. The one, what

40:15

throws this one off is that

40:17

this is a very large Joker.

40:20

He's got some mass to him. This

40:22

looks like Joker on the Bane Venom. And

40:25

he comes with a little friend

40:27

who's like, you know what he

40:29

looks like? Is it looks like a

40:31

ghost from the real Ghostbusters wearing a

40:34

Joker hat. Yes, it does. It's that

40:36

style of creature. It's like a white

40:38

little creature who looks like he just

40:40

strutted out of a Saturday morning cartoon,

40:42

but he's wearing a Joker Harley Quinn

40:44

hat. Not Harley

40:46

Quinn, Harlequin. Yes.

40:49

So I don't know what his deal is or

40:51

where he came from, but you know, I'm

40:53

going to write a whole bunch of fan fiction

40:55

about him later and just figure out his

40:57

tragic backstory, but he's random. And

40:59

Joker is huge, which I remember when

41:01

this came out. And I got to

41:04

figure I was like, that's weird, but

41:06

it is cool. I dig it. And

41:08

then this Joker comes with a surprise.

41:12

So the big huge chest

41:14

and arms pop off and

41:17

inside is a much more

41:19

slender body of what you

41:21

would expect the Joker to

41:23

look like. And he is

41:25

holding a bomb. And

41:28

I. A smile X bomb.

41:30

Yes. And I always thought that

41:32

was just so clever of being like,

41:34

OK, we're giving you this big

41:36

weird joker that's muscular. But inside, he's

41:38

still the joker you know and

41:40

love. He's still up to something. It's

41:42

all part of a big joke.

41:44

And so I love that they could

41:46

kind of have their cake and

41:48

eat it too with this joker. It's

41:50

weird, but it's fun. And I

41:52

dig it. Yes. It's a

41:54

great looking figure, for sure. I

41:57

also like the huge gun that it

41:59

comes with that you can fit in

42:01

the larger hands of the suit. I

42:03

always imagine that the

42:06

little gesture ghost figure

42:08

was supposed to maybe

42:10

be a like an

42:12

anthropomorphized, like a playing

42:14

card, like a Joker

42:17

card. Hmm. It kind

42:19

of has that body shape and, you

42:21

know, just like it's sprouted arms and

42:23

legs. I

42:25

don't know if that's what it's supposed to

42:27

be, but that any time I mean,

42:29

he is flat like a card, so it's

42:31

possible. Yeah. That's what I always imagined

42:33

it to be. But no, like you said,

42:35

it's a great figure, great sculpt. And

42:39

in the fact that it

42:41

has that cool little action feature

42:43

just makes it that much

42:45

better because it totally fits in

42:47

with the Joker's. you know,

42:49

joking personality. Yeah. And what

42:51

it says on the package, it

42:53

says, with exploding decoy suit that

42:55

reveals his true identity, which is

42:58

that he's just a wily little

43:00

trickster hiding a bomb. And

43:02

I didn't even notice that it said Smilex

43:05

on the bomb. You have to zoom in

43:07

to see it. So great call there, Jay.

43:09

I only noticed because I was zoomed in.

43:11

Yep. So no,

43:13

this one, like a great looking

43:15

Joker anyway, and then also

43:17

very clever in the weird approach

43:19

they took. Yes. Absolutely.

43:23

Sweet. So that is

43:25

laughing gas Joker. I know that there

43:27

was like a very, a variant

43:29

of him too. But the best I

43:31

could tell is it was the

43:33

same one. You just different color scheme.

43:35

Yeah, I think it's like a

43:37

white suit with maybe purple like purple

43:39

highlighting instead of red and green. I

43:42

think I don't I don't remember

43:44

something like that. Yeah, something like that.

43:46

So anyway, there you go. That

43:48

is laughing gas joker. And that brings

43:50

us to your next choice, Jay.

43:52

So let's swing back into the light

43:54

of well, the dark night, I

43:56

guess. And my next

43:58

choice is the premium. Well,

44:00

they're all premium. Never mind.

44:02

But the Batman the Dark

44:04

Knight figure. This is

44:07

about as traditional of a Batman

44:09

figure as you're going to find in

44:11

this line. And it's

44:13

it's pretty traditional

44:15

looking, save for its

44:17

massive wild cape. But

44:20

what I really like about it,

44:22

it's it's a Just Batman figure.

44:24

He comes with a battering and

44:26

he comes with a cape. He's

44:29

got the blue and gray bat

44:31

suit with the yellow and black

44:33

yellow oval. There's really

44:35

nothing crazy about this except the

44:37

cape. kind of expands and

44:39

is just huge. It's almost like,

44:41

you know, spawn, like a

44:43

spawn cape. I was going to

44:45

say, it's very McFarland Batman. But

44:48

what it really reminds me

44:50

of the figure itself is

44:52

a Kelly Jones drawing. This.

44:56

This looks like you know you

44:58

take something from the nightfall

45:01

era of Batman take one of

45:03

those covers with Batman with

45:05

the long ears and Jones would

45:07

Would go pretty crazy with

45:09

the anatomy as well with lots

45:12

of you know abs and

45:14

even muscles

45:16

and bones and everything

45:18

on the arms and legs.

45:21

And then just draw these

45:23

huge capes. This looks

45:25

like something that Kelly Jones

45:27

would have drawn. And

45:29

I like it even though

45:31

Jones is a very

45:33

acquired taste, a very distinct

45:35

style. It's very

45:37

much a 90s look

45:39

for Batman. So if you're

45:41

gonna have a 90s Batman action figure,

45:44

this is a pretty perfect representation of

45:46

that whole era. I'll

45:48

tell you, my friend, I love

45:51

this Batman. I love him

45:53

so much. I let you choose him

45:55

because I knew we would get

45:57

to talk about him. This is one

45:59

of my favorite Batman figures of

46:01

all time. Very, very nice. Very good

46:03

choice. It's awesome. I'm not

46:05

going to say it's number one, but

46:07

it's it's in the conversation. And

46:09

I remember back in 1996, 1997, when

46:11

I was picking these up, I

46:13

never could find this one. This one

46:15

was tough to find. And on

46:18

eBay right now, he goes for over

46:20

$100. Because

46:22

he's so cool. Because

46:24

you're right, what it is, is

46:26

it's the most extreme version of 90s

46:28

Batman, but in a really good

46:30

way. So I love a

46:32

big Batman cape. I

46:34

love big Batman ears. I

46:36

love the yellow oval on

46:38

the symbol. So this has

46:40

all of that. His ears are extreme.

46:43

The cape is extreme. But he

46:45

also is very classic. It's that classic

46:47

color scheme. And he's just

46:49

a great looking Batman. You

46:51

said Kelly Jones. I said McFarland.

46:54

But regardless that cape. is a character

46:56

unto itself. And it's like its

46:58

own figure, and I'm here for it.

47:00

So yeah, this one I always

47:02

wanted to find in the wild, never

47:04

did, because he is just so

47:07

cool. And I think that's why I

47:09

never could find him is because

47:11

if you're only going to get one

47:13

figure from this line, it's probably

47:15

this one. Yeah. And there is a

47:17

variant of it that's just all

47:20

black with the black cape, black. suit

47:22

with the yellow oval. And I think

47:24

it still has a yellow utility belt.

47:26

But I mean, it still looks really

47:28

cool. But I mean, given the choice,

47:31

I'm going to go with blue and

47:33

gray every day. So same. I'm with

47:35

you. So I like this one more.

47:37

Yeah. I mean, I think that the

47:39

reason I maybe wouldn't put it at

47:41

number one is his legs are a

47:43

little too skinny for me. I think

47:45

that, you know, and back in the

47:48

90s, they did some weird. positioning

47:51

of the legs on figures.

47:53

And this is an example

47:55

of that. Yeah, almost like

47:57

they were going for action

47:59

figure collectibles. Yeah.

48:01

Before that really became a

48:03

thing. And instead, it

48:06

really wasn't the best of either

48:08

world. So they they ended up

48:10

looking a little weird. Yeah. Yeah.

48:12

And honestly, we had the same

48:14

problem with the Batman forever figures. If

48:17

you remember. Oh, yeah. Yeah. like

48:19

their their stance. That's the word

48:21

I'm looking for. Their stances are so

48:23

wide and awkward that like it's

48:25

harder than it should be to

48:27

get them to stand up on their

48:30

own. Yeah. And sometimes the legs

48:32

are not even this. So like

48:34

one one foot will purposefully be meant

48:36

to be positioned in front of

48:38

the other. So you can't unless

48:40

you have the legs, you know, bent

48:42

that particular way, you can't really

48:44

get them to stand up. Yeah.

48:46

But anyway, that aside, that tangent off

48:49

to the side, this is a

48:51

great looking Batman. Love the

48:53

look, love the colors, it's awesome.

48:55

This is on my Batman toy wish

48:57

list. One of these days I'll

48:59

probably track one down, but for now

49:01

I'll just admire it from afar

49:03

like I did back in 1996. And

49:06

what's crazy about it is, I

49:08

mentioned it's Kelly Jones, whether that

49:10

was intentional or not. It

49:13

looks more like an artist's

49:15

style than a lot of

49:17

those inspired by action figures

49:19

these days that are intentionally

49:21

trying to ape a specific

49:23

style. So it's almost I

49:26

don't know if it's that

49:28

they were intentionally trying to

49:30

make a Kelly Jones inspired

49:32

figure or if just the.

49:36

Ridiculous proportions and anatomy and

49:38

everything of Jones's style

49:40

on the page translates really

49:42

well to 3D figures.

49:44

But I mean, it looks

49:46

it looks great. Yeah.

49:49

Yeah. Awesome. And yeah,

49:51

the the title on this

49:53

figure just as Batman the

49:55

Dark Knight, but it's awesome.

49:57

So. All right,

49:59

let's move on. I my

50:01

next choice is the one

50:03

and only. question mark vehicle. Maybe

50:07

there was a Batmobile too. See,

50:09

I always think there's a Batmobile,

50:11

but I think it's the. It's

50:13

the Batman. The legends of Batman

50:15

Batmobile. Yeah, I think you're right.

50:18

Because it's like all silver and everything.

50:20

So it looks like it could kind

50:22

of maybe fit in with this line.

50:24

But no, I think this is the

50:26

only the only. Vehicle

50:29

of the entire line here. I

50:31

think so too. I think it's the

50:33

only vehicle and that is the

50:35

Skywing Street bike and This comes with

50:37

an exclusive Batman figure. I'll tell

50:39

you it's that's one of my least

50:41

favorite Batman designs So that's why

50:44

they had to package it with the

50:46

vehicle because Even this one's too

50:48

funky for me He kind of looks

50:50

like he's covered in like silver

50:52

webbing more than anything, and

50:54

even the cowl, like it's a black

50:56

cowl, but the ears are silver, and

50:58

it has sort of like a centerpiece

51:00

that's silver. It's a bit much for

51:02

me. I'm not a big fan. I

51:04

mean, this Batman figure and the street

51:06

bike itself is all about the branding.

51:09

I mean, there's bats everywhere here,

51:11

because that symbol in the center

51:13

of his head is the bat

51:16

symbol. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh,

51:19

man, yeah. But the

51:21

street bike, I think, is

51:23

insane and awesome. Yes.

51:26

I mean, it is not a street

51:28

bike. He's flying a

51:30

giant mutant bat. It

51:32

is a creature, not a vehicle, even

51:34

though they're calling it a vehicle, because

51:36

it has a giant massive bat head

51:38

and two giant bat wings that I

51:41

guess deploy so the street bike can

51:43

also fly. I think it

51:45

even says that. It says... from

51:47

ground cycle to air assault vehicle. There

51:49

you go. Um, so yeah, the

51:51

the wings pop out and so you

51:53

can fly too, but like this

51:56

vehicle is so insane and so unlike

51:58

anything you have seen in Batman,

52:00

I think it's more at home in

52:02

something like masters of the universe. Where

52:05

the vehicles were more creatures than

52:07

vehicles. This is like that, but

52:09

the Batman version and hey, I

52:11

love Masters of the Universe, so

52:13

maybe that's why I like this,

52:15

because it's madness under a normal

52:17

Batman toy line. I would probably

52:19

be like, what the heck? But

52:21

for this, it's perfectly what the

52:23

heck? I mean, if we're going

52:26

to 11 with this whole toy

52:28

line, you might as well go

52:30

to 11. Yeah. This goes to

52:32

11. It has giant bat

52:34

ears. It's not just a bat head. I

52:36

mean, it has ears, eyes, it

52:38

has teeth, everything. It

52:40

is ridiculous in the best way

52:42

possible. And apparently the mouth of

52:44

the bat head opens to shoot a

52:47

missile. Because, of

52:49

course, it does. Why wouldn't it? I

52:51

would be disappointed if it didn't. Yeah.

52:53

So, you know, if you're only going

52:55

to have one vehicle, this is a

52:57

pretty darn good one. I like it.

52:59

Yeah. I mean, everyone always wants to

53:01

do the Batmobile. You know, I

53:03

appreciate them swinging for the fences. Yep.

53:05

The Skywing Street bike. It

53:09

needs to make its way to other

53:11

media. It seriously does. In

53:13

one of those

53:15

recent big event comics,

53:18

Batman rode a motorcycle that had

53:20

a giant bat head on

53:22

the front, like a bat skull.

53:25

You know, this isn't that far removed from that.

53:27

So, you know, why not? I

53:30

agreed. Why not? So

53:32

the Skywing Street bike, the

53:34

only vehicle, but a cool one

53:36

nonetheless. Yeah. And it comes with

53:38

a free, you know, terrible action

53:40

figure. So that you wouldn't buy

53:42

on its own, but now you

53:44

get it. Exactly. Awesome.

53:47

All right. What is your next

53:49

choice, Jay? All right. Going back

53:51

to the villains, because like we

53:53

said, there are some great villain

53:55

figures here. I chose Clayface. I

53:58

love Clayface just in general,

54:00

just the weird, goopy mud

54:02

monster just always appeals to

54:04

me for some reason. And

54:07

this clay face looks

54:09

like a combination of a

54:11

couple of different iterations

54:13

of the character. I mean,

54:16

it's clearly supposed to

54:18

be the clay monster version,

54:20

but it kind of has shades

54:22

of. the clay face three. If

54:25

you're familiar with that one, it's

54:27

the Preston Payne version that's in a

54:29

body suit. And when

54:31

he he's in that containment

54:34

suit, because if he

54:36

touches anything, it it

54:38

like burns living tissue. So

54:42

like this kind of metallic

54:44

armor and stuff that he's wearing

54:46

kind of gives me that

54:48

sort of vibe. Yeah. But.

54:51

One thing I actually didn't even

54:54

notice until I was looking at

54:56

these figures earlier today is that

54:58

he actually has two mouths. So

55:00

it's almost like he has two

55:02

faces and It just looks creepy

55:04

and gross and weird and it's

55:06

not like a normal clay face

55:09

but considering that the character itself

55:11

can you know change form and And

55:14

everything and that's kind of

55:16

a trademark of Clayface himself This

55:18

wouldn't be too far removed

55:20

from something you might actually see

55:22

in a more traditional toy

55:25

line or even comic book and

55:27

Yeah, I just like it

55:29

because it looks disgusting Yeah, I

55:31

love this one. I think

55:33

it's such a cool look for

55:35

clay face because it's unmistakably

55:37

clay face But like you said,

55:40

I appreciate like the sci -fi

55:42

outfit. They gave him some

55:44

clothes They gave him some tubes

55:46

like I appreciate that extra

55:48

element and like you said he

55:50

has multiple faces So it's

55:52

almost like many faces for masters

55:55

of the universe again And

55:57

that's what his feature says. It says,

56:00

with face change force, I think it says

56:02

it's a little fuzzy. But

56:04

yeah, I think it's a great look. And

56:07

I love how huge his

56:09

hands are. Yes. Like

56:11

they're monstrously big. And so, you

56:13

know, if you were going to

56:15

play with these as action figures,

56:17

perish the thought, you could

56:19

have a lot of fun smacking

56:22

around Batman and Robin with those

56:24

massive clay hands. Yeah. And it

56:26

is like they're they're big and

56:28

kind of spiky, but still goopy.

56:30

Yeah. But his feet are

56:32

just really flat, almost like a

56:34

little puddle, which I think is, you

56:36

know, just kind of fun too.

56:39

And I'm sure helps to balance the

56:41

figure because they're so wide and

56:43

flat. But yeah, it's a

56:45

great design just in general. I

56:47

love this one. Yep, agreed. It's

56:49

a it's a really cool look

56:51

for clay face. And yeah, to

56:53

get that effect of the goopy

56:55

slimy clay in a sculpt like

56:58

this, you know, it's really well

57:00

done. And I honestly

57:02

didn't even realize it said that it

57:04

had the face changing feature. I thought

57:06

it was supposed to be, you know,

57:08

to like almost like two heads on

57:10

one body, which. you know, would still

57:13

work. Yeah, it's just kind of taken

57:15

a little extra monstrous approach to Clayface.

57:17

So that would still fit in with

57:19

the character himself. Yeah, it works either

57:21

way. Or maybe that that was the

57:23

intention. And they're like, oh, we didn't

57:25

do an action feature. Let's just say

57:28

you can change his face. You can

57:30

turn his head around. Yeah. Good enough

57:32

with head turning action. All

57:35

right. So that is Clayface. My

57:38

next choice. I'm going with another

57:40

villain. I am going with Catwoman. More

57:43

specifically, Panther Prowl

57:45

Catwoman. And like

57:47

the other villains, I just think

57:49

it's a really cool, unique, different

57:51

design for Catwoman. Certainly very 90s,

57:53

but hey, isn't that part of

57:56

the fun? Yes, it

57:58

is. So she's purple and

58:00

black. And so she has

58:02

it's it's it's the 90s

58:04

interpretation of the classic purple

58:06

Catwoman look. And. I really

58:08

dig it. The accessory that

58:10

she comes with, it's a

58:12

giant like panther exoskeleton suit.

58:15

I'll tell you, I own this one.

58:17

I don't, you know, I always thought,

58:19

who needs that exoskeleton? I just want

58:21

the cool purple cat woman. That's

58:23

what I'm here for. But hey,

58:25

if you want the exoskeleton, it's

58:27

there. It's very like if the

58:29

the loader from aliens that Ripley

58:31

was in was built to look

58:34

like a panther. That would be

58:36

this. Yeah. Yeah. But

58:38

regardless, she has a purple whip.

58:40

She's got the thigh high boots.

58:43

And then yeah, just a nice,

58:45

great purple outfit. Like with a

58:47

lot of these, I think the

58:49

colors are what really grabbed me,

58:51

and I love this. And even

58:53

her hair is a darker shade

58:55

of bluish purple. So yeah, I

58:57

think it's a very cool look

58:59

for Catwoman, and I really like

59:01

this one. Yeah, it looks,

59:03

I mean, it's one of the

59:05

least extreme designs of any of

59:08

the characters. But

59:10

I mean, the figure looks

59:12

really cool. Definitely

59:16

recognizably Catwoman. You

59:19

know, if she appeared on the

59:21

page like this, I might be like,

59:23

okay. that's too much, you know,

59:25

walk it back a little bit. But

59:27

for what they're doing with this,

59:29

it actually looks pretty good and, you

59:31

know, surprisingly kind of modest, which

59:33

some of the other

59:36

female figures in this

59:38

era did not have

59:40

that going for them.

59:43

So, you know, the fact that

59:45

they actually showed restraint for

59:47

a character like Catwoman who is...

59:49

sometimes very sexualized is kind

59:51

of surprising. But

59:53

yeah, I mean, it looks cool. That

59:56

accessory, that big

59:58

panther, what, the stalker

1:00:00

panther? I'd

1:00:03

imagine you can maybe position

1:00:05

that to make it look

1:00:07

almost like a statue. I

1:00:09

think you can. If memory serves, because

1:00:11

again, this is what I know I have.

1:00:14

If memory serves, they actually showed on the back

1:00:16

of the thing that you can just sort

1:00:18

of pose it so it looks more like a

1:00:20

pet than it is a suit. Yeah,

1:00:22

or even like a... like

1:00:24

an ancient sculpture that maybe she's

1:00:26

wanting to steal. So that

1:00:28

would kind of fit in. So

1:00:31

even though it's a bit

1:00:33

of a case of putting a

1:00:35

hat on a hat with

1:00:37

the accessories, it

1:00:39

still fits and still looks pretty

1:00:41

cool itself. Yeah. And

1:00:44

it was an interesting point that you're

1:00:46

like, oh, they actually covered her up more

1:00:48

than you would maybe expect. Because you

1:00:50

mentioned we didn't pick Batgirl. There is a

1:00:52

Batgirl in the series. I really like

1:00:54

it. Again, I almost picked her just because

1:00:56

it was cool to get a Batgirl

1:00:58

outfit. But that one goes the other direction

1:01:00

where she's showing a lot of skin

1:01:02

for Batgirl. And so, yeah,

1:01:04

you're right. They're showing somewhere straight

1:01:06

with Catwoman is unexpected, but it's nice.

1:01:08

And for me, the purple and

1:01:10

black just look so good together. Good

1:01:12

color combo. Awesome. All

1:01:14

right. I think that brings

1:01:16

us to your final choice.

1:01:19

My final choice is

1:01:21

man bat. This

1:01:23

is a perfect man

1:01:25

bat figure. There's

1:01:27

really no qualifiers, no

1:01:30

perfect, but this is

1:01:32

a fantastic figure. It

1:01:34

looks exactly like man

1:01:37

bat. This could fit.

1:01:39

as man bat in any iteration

1:01:42

of Batman you could think of. It's

1:01:45

simple yet works like

1:01:47

every. It's not over

1:01:49

designed, but it's very

1:01:51

well detailed, I think

1:01:53

is what I'm trying

1:01:55

to say. The

1:01:58

the arms and the

1:02:00

wings look awesome He

1:02:02

has like a torn

1:02:04

shirt really cool look

1:02:06

like a like a

1:02:08

scowl or a snarl

1:02:10

on his face really

1:02:12

great detailing of the

1:02:14

You know just the

1:02:16

battiness of the character

1:02:18

while still looking humanoid

1:02:20

And I mean it

1:02:22

just looks I

1:02:25

mean, it almost looks like

1:02:27

if you took, if someone had

1:02:29

the idea of taking the

1:02:31

man bat look from Batman, the

1:02:33

animated series and making it

1:02:35

live action, it would look like

1:02:37

this. Yeah. I mean, it

1:02:39

is terrific. Like I said, there's

1:02:41

there's nothing at all wrong

1:02:43

with this figure from what it's

1:02:45

supposed to be, what it

1:02:47

looks like, who it is. I

1:02:49

think it's fantastic. I

1:02:52

completely agree. I. I knew this

1:02:54

one was your number one, and I

1:02:56

think rightfully so. Because for all

1:02:58

of the ones, even Bane, which is

1:03:00

so close to being traditional Bane,

1:03:02

they gave him that hair. But Manbat,

1:03:04

it's just Manbat. Like, they didn't

1:03:06

give it a spin. He doesn't have

1:03:08

a neural, what did they call

1:03:10

it, a neural technology, neural technology. Yeah,

1:03:13

he doesn't have an exoskeleton. He

1:03:15

doesn't have tubes. It's just Manbat

1:03:17

with the torn clothes and the

1:03:19

great, you know, Physicality

1:03:21

of what man bat should

1:03:23

look like and the great

1:03:25

wings with the veins on

1:03:27

them So it's just a beautifully

1:03:29

sculpted man bat figure that

1:03:31

is huge and so they

1:03:33

didn't overthink it They didn't

1:03:36

overdo it. They knew the

1:03:38

assignment. They nailed it. Yeah of

1:03:40

I have gotten close to

1:03:42

eBay two figures

1:03:44

in this line and it's

1:03:46

man bat and clay face haven't

1:03:48

haven't pulled the trigger just

1:03:50

you know just because it's not

1:03:52

a need it's a wants

1:03:54

and you know money but I

1:03:56

mean I I would love

1:03:58

love to have this figure at

1:04:01

like at some point I

1:04:03

mean that's not a call to

1:04:05

anything it's just like you

1:04:07

know I mentioned Robin that

1:04:09

if I were to get something

1:04:11

to represent the line for me,

1:04:13

I might get that dive claw

1:04:15

Robin. But if I were to

1:04:17

buy, just have any choice of

1:04:19

any, any figure in the line,

1:04:21

it would be this, just because

1:04:23

it's, it's funny because it, it's

1:04:25

a perfect representation of man bat

1:04:28

and yet without. meeting any

1:04:30

of the extra craziness to

1:04:32

it, it still fits in perfectly

1:04:34

with the rest of the

1:04:36

line as well because he's scary.

1:04:39

And it does look like a

1:04:41

more menacing man that that

1:04:43

would be, you know, to the

1:04:45

point of the synopsis of

1:04:47

the the the story behind the

1:04:49

line. It would be something

1:04:51

that would be in, you know,

1:04:54

Batman's darkest, deepest, worst nightmares

1:04:56

is something looking like this. Yeah,

1:04:58

well, I do have this one

1:05:00

This one I know I've got

1:05:02

and he's still in his package

1:05:05

And I'm gonna greet all around

1:05:07

I just was noticing as I'm

1:05:09

looking at the detail on this

1:05:11

that's something that's so cool is

1:05:13

his hands His thumb his index

1:05:15

finger and his middle finger are

1:05:18

still pretty humanoid But his ring

1:05:20

finger and his pinky are elongated

1:05:22

and go into the wings. Yeah,

1:05:24

that's that is such a great

1:05:26

detail I don't think I've ever

1:05:28

actually seen that in a man

1:05:31

bat design because I think usually

1:05:33

it's either all or nothing. Yeah,

1:05:36

he has wings under

1:05:38

his arms, but he still

1:05:40

has human hands or

1:05:42

I'm pretty sure in the

1:05:44

animated series, it's his

1:05:46

arms are his wings. So

1:05:49

yeah, I mean, that's

1:05:51

just a really cool subtle

1:05:53

change that just looks.

1:05:55

Awesome and looks very unique.

1:05:57

Yes. So very cool.

1:05:59

Yeah. And the package boasts

1:06:01

a huge 15 inch

1:06:03

wingspan, which that is that

1:06:05

is huge. Badass. Yeah.

1:06:08

Again, these figures are all huge, but

1:06:10

this is the hugest of the

1:06:12

huge and rightfully so. All

1:06:14

right. Excellent. Number one.

1:06:16

Thank you. Thank you. So speaking

1:06:18

of huge figures, I also chose

1:06:21

a huge villain for my number

1:06:23

one. And you were so funny

1:06:25

because you're like, oh, here are my choices. And by

1:06:27

the way, I didn't choose this one because I knew

1:06:29

you'd want it. That's very nice

1:06:31

of you. And so

1:06:33

my final choice is

1:06:35

Twister Strike Scarecrow. After

1:06:37

all these years, I think I would know you

1:06:40

a little bit, Andy. Yeah, you know, like

1:06:42

I'm not shy about what I like and what

1:06:44

I don't. But

1:06:46

Scarecrow. One of my favorite Batman

1:06:48

villains I think it's you know

1:06:50

because of how much I also

1:06:52

love Halloween and so Batman Halloween

1:06:54

I love the the iconography of

1:06:57

a scarecrow anyway, and this is

1:06:59

a great looking scarecrow It is

1:07:01

a huge scarecrow scarecrow is one

1:07:03

of those characters Kind of like

1:07:05

clay face actually where he has

1:07:07

looked a hundred different ways over

1:07:09

the years And so there's a

1:07:11

lot of latitude as to how

1:07:14

you want the scarecrow to look

1:07:16

because there's not really a wrong

1:07:18

answer. And I think this is

1:07:20

a great classic scarecrow, but a

1:07:22

huge intimidating one. So usually he's

1:07:24

not huge, but this time he is in

1:07:26

the legends of the Dark Knight universe. This

1:07:28

is a big boy. And so

1:07:30

he's very classic scarecrow looking,

1:07:32

but he's got like The

1:07:34

like the wooden planks coming

1:07:37

out of his shoulders as if

1:07:39

he had been hoisted up

1:07:41

like a scarecrow He's very buff.

1:07:43

He's got a big scary

1:07:45

face. He has a giant scythe

1:07:47

Which you know every good

1:07:49

scarecrow should have a scythe anyway

1:07:51

and so Yeah, he's he's

1:07:53

just I love how big and

1:07:55

intimidating this scarecrow is where

1:07:57

he is he is definitely more

1:07:59

stylized into this Elseworlds world,

1:08:01

but just enough without going too

1:08:03

far. It's a nice balance

1:08:05

of classic and giving it a

1:08:07

new spin. Kind of like, I'd

1:08:10

say, Penguin was close like that. So

1:08:13

yeah, this is just a badass

1:08:15

looking scarecrow. And I love how

1:08:17

he looks. And he is one

1:08:19

that is another one that I've got.

1:08:21

But when I think of this

1:08:23

line, this is the first figure I

1:08:25

think of. Yeah,

1:08:27

this is I mean if you

1:08:30

hadn't wanted to pick this one,

1:08:32

I would have picked this one

1:08:34

because I mean it is Terrific

1:08:36

head to toe It's it's an

1:08:38

amazing looking scaric row no matter

1:08:40

no no matter which version you're

1:08:43

looking at kind of like man

1:08:45

bats. I mean this would fit

1:08:47

in Most iterations.

1:08:50

Yeah. Yeah. I mean,

1:08:52

I really do think, though, that

1:08:54

my favorite detail are those posts coming

1:08:56

out of his shoulders. Because

1:08:58

I mean, if you want to make

1:09:01

up your own story about it, that almost

1:09:03

makes him scarier. It's almost like, OK, this

1:09:06

is either a scarecrow that came

1:09:08

to life or a scarecrow that

1:09:10

they tried to restrain and he

1:09:12

couldn't be. Beheld so he broke

1:09:14

free from a post but still

1:09:16

has parts of it like on

1:09:18

his body And you know that

1:09:20

just adds to the creep factor

1:09:24

And that scythe is really cool. The

1:09:27

colors are great. Even

1:09:29

though they're more like

1:09:31

earthen colors with the

1:09:33

yellow, orange, and the

1:09:35

brown, and even the

1:09:37

kind of the off -white

1:09:39

of his leggings and

1:09:41

the cloth on his

1:09:43

arms, it still pops.

1:09:45

It's still a very

1:09:47

vibrant figure without looking

1:09:49

garish or bombastic. And

1:09:53

yeah, I mean, it it it

1:09:55

just looks so cool. I mean, regardless,

1:09:57

the arms are kind of long,

1:09:59

which just adds to the creep factor.

1:10:01

It looks amazing. Yeah,

1:10:04

he definitely is like longer

1:10:06

and lengthier, but that just

1:10:08

makes him creepier. And one

1:10:10

of his other features is

1:10:12

nightmare glow eyes. So.

1:10:14

I wonder if it's one of those where

1:10:16

there's like the little lens in the back of

1:10:18

the head. So just as light comes through,

1:10:21

it makes his eyes glow, which I love. Yeah.

1:10:23

So you can like shine a flashlight or

1:10:25

hold it up to the sun or something. Yeah,

1:10:27

that's probably what it is. So

1:10:29

yeah, I've always loved that feature

1:10:31

anyway in other action figures that I've

1:10:33

had over the years. And for

1:10:35

this one, it's perfect too. So yeah,

1:10:37

the glowing eyes with a nice

1:10:39

extra little bonus to what is already

1:10:41

an awesome figure. And. How

1:10:43

much do I love scarecrows and the

1:10:45

scarecrow? So for Halloween, I've talked

1:10:47

about it before we do a haunt

1:10:49

in our yard. The theme of

1:10:52

our haunt is a haunted pumpkin patch.

1:10:54

And we have lots of

1:10:57

scarecrows. To

1:10:59

the point where like I dress up like

1:11:01

a scarecrow to scare the kids and the mask

1:11:03

I have, like I want to just put

1:11:05

on like a mannequin head in my Batman office

1:11:07

because it looks like it could just be

1:11:09

a scarecrow mask. So anyway,

1:11:11

that's all. neither here nor there, but

1:11:13

it just speaks to my love of

1:11:16

of Scarecrow's and thus Scarecrow. And

1:11:18

this is just a really bad ass

1:11:20

version. And you know what, as I

1:11:22

pull them up to look for more

1:11:24

pictures of him so I could

1:11:26

see if his eyes were glowing, you

1:11:28

can find him real cheap on eBay.

1:11:30

Oh, yeah. Like 20 bucks. Wow.

1:11:34

So just FYI, like, I mean, I

1:11:36

don't want to be the little devil

1:11:38

on your shoulder, but He's

1:11:40

a good one to have. And if you

1:11:42

can own him for 20 bucks, I don't

1:11:44

see a problem there. That's true. That's true.

1:11:46

I might buy another one just to open

1:11:48

so I can keep my original closed. And

1:11:50

add him to your haunt decorations too. Yep.

1:11:52

Yep. I'll just put him up on a

1:11:54

hay bale and it'll be the Easter egg

1:11:56

for anyone who knows. So

1:12:00

there you go. Twister, strike, scarecrow, and

1:12:02

bonus, the fact that Twister's in the name.

1:12:05

Yes, yes. That was just a happy

1:12:07

accident. So

1:12:10

there you go 12 figures

1:12:12

from legends of the dark night,

1:12:14

but our number ones are

1:12:16

man bat and scarecrow and I

1:12:18

I think that's appropriate because

1:12:20

they're both totally awesome. Yes I

1:12:22

mean lots of Good choices

1:12:24

that could be number one, but

1:12:26

I do think those are

1:12:28

the two best Figures in the

1:12:30

whole line. So I'm glad

1:12:32

they got representation from us agreed

1:12:34

and and to your point

1:12:36

at the very beginning like The

1:12:40

Batman and Robin and Batgirl are

1:12:42

cool, but this line was all

1:12:44

about the villains. Because every

1:12:46

villain looked awesome. Yes. Some were more

1:12:48

extreme than others, but they were all

1:12:50

cool as hell. And so a lot

1:12:52

of times, yeah, you get the 15

1:12:54

versions of Batman and you get two

1:12:56

villains. This was one of the rare

1:12:58

lines where it's like, oh no, we're

1:13:00

doing as many villains as we can.

1:13:02

And I think that's why I gravitated

1:13:04

towards it in the 90s. Make

1:13:07

sense make sense. I don't know

1:13:09

just filling up dead air there. Sorry.

1:13:11

All right, no problem So all

1:13:13

right well there you go those are

1:13:15

12 awesome figures from Legends of

1:13:17

the Dark Knight Like I said, I'll

1:13:19

post them to the Facebook page

1:13:21

and then you can check them out

1:13:23

But they're super cool and if

1:13:25

I send you down an eBay rabbit

1:13:27

hole, I'm sorry and you're welcome That's

1:13:31

what that's what we do

1:13:33

these four guys, you know We're

1:13:35

secret part of the fun

1:13:37

secret eBay shills, you know, we

1:13:39

just need to drive up

1:13:41

those numbers You also, you know

1:13:43

like if if buying a

1:13:46

$20 piece of plastic from 25

1:13:48

years ago brings you joy

1:13:50

Then you should do it because

1:13:52

we all deserve a little

1:13:54

more joy in our lives Especially

1:13:57

Never mind. We

1:13:59

all know. We all know.

1:14:02

So very cool. Yeah, I love this

1:14:04

line. I'm glad we talked about

1:14:06

it. I knew you'd be down because

1:14:08

I knew you would appreciate the

1:14:10

cool weirdness of this line, too. If

1:14:13

anything, I am into cool

1:14:15

weirdness. That's wrong, but

1:14:17

okay, whatever. We're not here to

1:14:19

judge. We're all friends here. So

1:14:21

awesome. Well, Legends of the

1:14:24

Dark Knight toys, very fun little

1:14:26

flashback to 1996. But

1:14:28

guess what? We

1:14:30

watched an episode of The Batman. We did. So

1:14:32

why don't we do that? Let's review

1:14:35

the next episode of The Batman. I

1:15:08

appreciate you keeping me honest because you were the one

1:15:10

who were like, Hey, should we watch one? And I

1:15:12

was like, I guess. Well, I figured,

1:15:14

you know, I wasn't sure about the

1:15:16

mailbox and I figured there's no news

1:15:18

right now. I mean, we've gotten a

1:15:20

good conversation out of everything. So, but

1:15:22

you know, to give, give a little

1:15:24

more had the runtime a little bit

1:15:26

might as well. I know. And again,

1:15:28

we need to make progress. We can't

1:15:30

forget. Otherwise, Richard Webster

1:15:32

will remind me. He's

1:15:34

the only one waiting for these. Um,

1:15:38

but no, it's good. It's good. And

1:15:40

here's a fun story. So a couple hours

1:15:42

ago, you know, I knew this was

1:15:44

coming. We were going to do this after

1:15:47

dinner. And so Harley's watching Moana

1:15:49

too, which we're not big fans of, but

1:15:51

she is. And, you know, you do what

1:15:53

your kid wants. And I'm like, I'm like,

1:15:55

honey, we're going to turn this off. I

1:15:57

need you to watch Batman with daddy. And

1:15:59

she did not, she did not put up a

1:16:02

fight. She's like, okay. So we watched this episode of

1:16:04

the Batman. And she's like,

1:16:06

no, daddy, I want more, more

1:16:08

Batman. And so we ended up

1:16:10

watching three episodes of The Batman

1:16:12

Tonight at her insistence. Oh, well.

1:16:15

Good kid. So I call that a

1:16:17

big win. That's very cool. I

1:16:19

only watched one, but we can talk

1:16:21

about all three. And I can

1:16:23

just do it. No, because I'll be

1:16:25

honest. I snoozed a little bit

1:16:27

in episode two because I was very

1:16:29

tired. So anyway.

1:16:32

The episode we did watch this

1:16:35

is season 3 episode 7 of

1:16:37

the laughing cats Yeah, I'm still

1:16:39

watching on Netflix, but apparently it

1:16:41

leaves Netflix in a few weeks

1:16:43

so be warned And that means

1:16:45

we got to go back to

1:16:48

max and the max is the

1:16:50

one where the order is different

1:16:52

So we'll just we'll deal Anyway,

1:16:54

the laughing cats this one aired

1:16:56

on November 19th of 2005 was

1:16:58

written by Joseph Kerr and directed

1:17:01

by Christopher Berkeley And

1:17:03

what we got here

1:17:05

is a mysterious disappearance

1:17:07

of a rare leopard.

1:17:10

And Batgirl and Batman are on the

1:17:12

case. Batgirl's like, well, it's

1:17:15

a leopard. Obviously, it's Catwoman. And Batman's

1:17:17

like, no, anything. I like this line.

1:17:19

He says, just because she's a cat

1:17:21

burglar doesn't mean she's a cat. Yeah,

1:17:23

that made me chuckle. That was good.

1:17:26

And he's like, she's like, I don't

1:17:28

know. I feel like this is it.

1:17:30

And there are two of them. in

1:17:32

Gotham so they go to check out

1:17:34

the other one and Catwoman is there

1:17:36

and she's like see I told you

1:17:38

so and Batman's like nope that's that's

1:17:40

not her MO and we find out

1:17:42

it was the Joker who took the

1:17:44

leopard and ends up taking both of

1:17:46

the leopards and kidnapping Catwoman. I

1:17:48

do. I do. Sorry. But I do like

1:17:51

a line that cat woman had in there

1:17:53

where bat girl, I think a cosser of,

1:17:55

you know, oh, she's stealing that one. She's

1:17:57

like, well, yeah, but I didn't steal the

1:17:59

other one. Right. That

1:18:01

was pretty funny too. So

1:18:03

Joker takes cat woman and the leopards.

1:18:05

And it turns out he is doing this

1:18:07

and selling the leopards to like a. Billionaire

1:18:10

big game hunter who wants

1:18:12

rare animals so he can hunt

1:18:15

them on his own property

1:18:17

where he has a really intensive

1:18:19

labyrinth So Batman back girl

1:18:21

track them down They help cat

1:18:23

woman and then it becomes

1:18:25

Batman back girl cat woman versus

1:18:27

Joker and Punchin Judy They

1:18:29

end up in the labyrinth with

1:18:31

booby traps and everything and

1:18:33

they get through they defeat the

1:18:35

Joker and through the whole

1:18:38

thing back girl is like At

1:18:40

first she thinks Catwoman's guilty, and

1:18:42

then she's like, you know what, Catwoman, maybe

1:18:44

you're not so bad, because she sees Catwoman's passion

1:18:46

for animals, and then she's like, you should

1:18:48

be a hero. And Catwoman's like, you could be

1:18:51

a villain. And just as

1:18:53

she earns Batgirl's trust, then she turns

1:18:55

on her locks or a cage,

1:18:57

and she's like, yep, maybe another time.

1:18:59

And so Batgirl learns the lesson

1:19:01

of what Catwoman does is she gets

1:19:03

you to lower your guard, and

1:19:05

then she'll double cross you if she

1:19:07

needs to. So it's a

1:19:09

big, it was a little, you

1:19:12

know, back and forth about Batgirl

1:19:14

not trusting than trusting the not

1:19:16

trusting Catwoman. So that's

1:19:18

the laughing cats, Jay. What did

1:19:20

you think? It

1:19:22

was, it's fine,

1:19:24

I guess. It

1:19:27

honestly, and I'm not being

1:19:29

pithy here, it, you know, the

1:19:32

first act or so, the

1:19:34

first 10 minutes really didn't hold

1:19:36

my attention. much

1:19:38

I did like that there was

1:19:40

a little bit of a mystery that

1:19:42

Batman and Batgirl were investigating There

1:19:44

were a couple of good lines, but

1:19:46

my attention was kind of wandering

1:19:48

for a little bit Especially when it

1:19:50

came into the Joker and the

1:19:53

big game hunter guy I was just

1:19:55

kind of you know bored with

1:19:57

that when they got to the labyrinth

1:19:59

though I started almost

1:20:01

loving the episode because interesting

1:20:03

because you give me, I mean,

1:20:05

you know, I love death

1:20:07

traps, you know, just, um, I

1:20:10

love, you know, Batman 66,

1:20:13

you know, all the death traps

1:20:15

there. And then even in,

1:20:17

uh, you know, this was kind

1:20:19

of derivative of the, that

1:20:21

Riddler episode of the animated series

1:20:23

with the Minotaur's, you know,

1:20:25

labyrinth or whatever that Robin had

1:20:27

to fight through. It was.

1:20:29

pretty much that with Batman, Batgirl

1:20:31

and Catwoman instead of just

1:20:33

Batman and Robin. But it was

1:20:35

still fun. You know,

1:20:37

lots of fun little

1:20:39

booby traps and everything in

1:20:41

the labyrinth itself. And

1:20:44

I did kind of like the

1:20:46

button at the end where Batman told

1:20:48

Batgirl that she makes a better

1:20:50

Batgirl than a cat girl or something

1:20:52

along those lines. But.

1:20:55

I mean, overall, I

1:20:58

mean, it was just, it

1:21:00

was okay. I didn't

1:21:02

necessarily hate any of it,

1:21:04

but it didn't get my

1:21:06

attention until too late in

1:21:09

the episode. And even then,

1:21:11

it wasn't much of that.

1:21:13

But what was there that

1:21:15

I really liked? I really

1:21:17

liked. Well, we

1:21:19

had a very similar experience.

1:21:23

I the for the first act like

1:21:25

you said I was like oh god

1:21:27

this is like such a basic episode

1:21:29

and I just and it wasn't bad

1:21:31

it just was like and like it

1:21:34

wasn't doing anything for me because it

1:21:36

didn't have anything so interesting to do

1:21:38

but I like I like when they

1:21:40

mix up villains so I like the

1:21:42

idea of you know catwoman being wrongly

1:21:44

suspected and then that puts her in

1:21:46

the path of the Joker and then

1:21:49

now it's Catwoman versus the Joker. And

1:21:51

so now she has to sort of have

1:21:53

a team up with Batman. So I appreciated

1:21:55

that dynamic. I think that's fun when they

1:21:57

start mixing up different characters. But as far

1:21:59

as the actual story, it wasn't grabbing me.

1:22:03

And then the second half I

1:22:05

thought was better because once they

1:22:08

really leaned into the arc of

1:22:10

Batgirl learning about Catwoman and starting

1:22:12

to see her good points, I

1:22:14

thought that was a really cool theme

1:22:16

to explore in the episode. So I

1:22:18

enjoyed that. The big game hunter, like

1:22:20

you said, didn't do much for me

1:22:22

either. I think there

1:22:24

is internal logic missing from

1:22:27

the labyrinth because it's implied

1:22:29

that the labyrinth exists so

1:22:31

he can set these rare

1:22:33

animals loose in it so

1:22:35

he can hunt them. But

1:22:38

then why are there booby traps?

1:22:40

Yeah Like are the booby traps

1:22:42

for the animals because that defeats

1:22:44

the whole purpose of hunting them.

1:22:46

So I don't know what the

1:22:48

labyrinth is all about I totally

1:22:50

had flashbacks to to the the

1:22:52

minotaur was amazed at the minotaur

1:22:54

whatever it was called Yeah, something

1:22:56

like that from Batman animated series

1:22:59

too. So there was certainly fun

1:23:01

in watching Batman Batgirl and Catwoman

1:23:03

Go through the labyrinth and like,

1:23:05

you know Dealing with the booby

1:23:07

traps and everything like there was

1:23:09

fun in that I just was

1:23:11

like this labyrinth doesn't make any

1:23:13

sense I know like I can

1:23:15

buy the cartoon logic that it

1:23:17

exists in Gotham because there's an

1:23:19

eccentric billionaire I'll go with that,

1:23:21

but I just don't know what

1:23:23

it's for So yeah, it was

1:23:25

in the end. I thought it

1:23:27

was Solid decent but not amazing

1:23:29

because there were things I liked

1:23:31

about it, but in the end

1:23:33

I didn't love it So yeah,

1:23:35

I guess I am I am

1:23:37

slightly positive on it Yeah, I

1:23:39

for some reason I had the

1:23:41

idea that maybe Joker booby trapped

1:23:43

the labyrinth, but maybe I just

1:23:45

missed a line of dialogue or

1:23:47

maybe I'm just reading like thinking

1:23:49

too much into it. But yeah,

1:23:51

if it's booby trapped by the

1:23:53

billionaire, that makes negative sense. Well,

1:23:56

and even even the three

1:23:58

tubes that the Joker had

1:24:00

Batman, Catwoman and Batgirl enclosed

1:24:02

in. I

1:24:05

was like, I was like, what are those

1:24:07

for? And why do they exist? I

1:24:09

mean, it was trap doors

1:24:11

to drop their utility bills.

1:24:14

Yeah. I mean, it was more of

1:24:16

a, you know, this is dumb, but

1:24:18

I'm having fun with it now rather

1:24:21

than just, OK, this is kind of

1:24:23

wrote and just kind of going through

1:24:25

the motions. But

1:24:27

yeah, I mean, like you said, I

1:24:29

mean, it was OK. It just. was

1:24:32

kind of messy. I

1:24:34

mean, there really wasn't a

1:24:37

lot of cohesion other than

1:24:39

the emotional through line of

1:24:41

Batgirl and Catwoman's kind

1:24:43

of side story. Right,

1:24:45

right. So yeah, I mean, I agree. There

1:24:47

was a lot to like and then a

1:24:49

lot to not like. So it's a bit

1:24:51

of a wash, but it was all right.

1:24:53

Like I wouldn't, you know. If I if

1:24:55

I flipped it on on Saturday morning, I

1:24:57

wouldn't hate it. It just is not one

1:24:59

that I would like seek out. Yeah. Yeah. All

1:25:03

right. Well, that's the laughing cats. What

1:25:05

would you give it for a letter

1:25:07

grade? I don't know. I was kind of

1:25:09

leaning C minus. But then when you

1:25:11

were talking about the the Catwoman stuff, yeah,

1:25:14

that made me appreciate it a little bit

1:25:16

more just in retrospect. So I'm just going to

1:25:18

go with a rounded C. Oh,

1:25:20

OK. Well, then I liked it a

1:25:22

little more than you. I was going to go like. C

1:25:28

plus, yeah, C plus. So I was

1:25:30

between C plus and B minus, but

1:25:32

I'm like, I don't know, B minus

1:25:34

maybe feels a little too generous, but

1:25:36

it was, it was decent. It's not

1:25:38

bad. So all

1:25:40

right, that's the laughing cats. Next one up,

1:25:42

whenever we get around to it will

1:25:44

be Fleur's Demal. Sounds

1:25:47

fun. Yeah. which

1:25:50

again, I caught the last few

1:25:52

seconds of because I was snoozing

1:25:54

on the couch with Harley, but

1:25:57

she watched and I snoozed. What is that?

1:25:59

The bad flowers? Is that what that means? That

1:26:02

sounds right. Yeah. I

1:26:04

think so. Well, cool. That'll

1:26:06

be next time. But another episode

1:26:08

of the Batman done and check. But

1:26:11

as we said, I don't have

1:26:13

any emails this week because I

1:26:16

just recorded the last episode like

1:26:18

two days ago. So there hasn't been

1:26:20

much time for anyone to write

1:26:22

in. But if you want to write

1:26:24

into the Wayne Menor mailbox, you

1:26:27

can because you know right now it's

1:26:29

empty. So you'll get yours in

1:26:31

there. You can send that to holybackcast

1:26:33

at rf4rm .com. But that

1:26:35

will do it for this episode, Jay. Thanks

1:26:37

for making the time. Thanks for talking

1:26:39

toys, little bonus Superman

1:26:42

talk, little bonus the Batman

1:26:44

episode, but All in all,

1:26:46

a well -rounded holy backcast. Yes,

1:26:48

it's fun. Always glad to

1:26:50

come on, Andy. Well, always

1:26:52

glad to have you. And anywhere

1:26:54

people can keep up with you these days. I

1:26:57

mean, if you already know, you're

1:26:59

probably already following me. I

1:27:01

mean, I hang around on Instagram.

1:27:06

blue sky that I barely use on,

1:27:08

you know, Facebook and the real fans

1:27:10

groups. I've been, I'm in a band

1:27:12

and we've been playing around. So that's

1:27:14

where I've been devoting a lot of

1:27:16

time lately is just playing music. But

1:27:18

yeah, I mean, if you poke around,

1:27:20

you can find me, you know, here

1:27:22

and there. Awesome. Love it. Well,

1:27:24

thank you Jay and thank you everybody

1:27:26

out there for joining us as always. We

1:27:28

appreciate it. Thanks for streaming or downloading

1:27:35

else you can do for us if

1:27:37

you like the show doesn't cost a

1:27:39

penny just rate and review us. A

1:27:41

five star positive rating would make my

1:27:43

day and it really does help us

1:27:45

out. That way the algorithm suggests us

1:27:47

to other people and we would love

1:27:49

that. So please do that if you

1:27:51

haven't already. Again, find the show and

1:27:53

follow us on Facebook, Instagram or YouTube.

1:27:55

just search for Holy Backcast. And if

1:28:01

that to holybackcast at rf4rm .com. Our

1:28:03

1:28:09

it. On behalf of Jay, I've been

1:28:43

Oh, hi honey. Okay,

1:28:48

good night honey, give me a huggy. Night

1:28:51

Harley. She's

1:29:00

very concerned about her baby brother because

1:29:02

he's crying. She's very

1:29:04

protective. It's very cute. That's

1:29:06

a good big sister. Yeah, she

1:29:09

is. So

1:29:11

we're talking about the glowing eyes, right? Yes,

1:29:13

think.
