Starting new habits can be challenging because we're creatures of habit. During this episode, I share my personal journey to establish a morning routine that includes a daily walk with my dog. While I intended to break free of old habits, I often found myself slipping back into them. Changing habits effectively can be achieved through a three-part formula.
To change, it's important to understand the positive aspects of a new habit and the negative consequences of not adopting it. From exercise to mental health, I explore the benefits of my morning walk. I had to understand not only the benefits but what would happen if I didn't change the old habit.
The next step was to identify my triggers and rewards for changing the habit. Stacking the new habits on top of an existing habit was then my next step. Making those changes becomes easier when you set yourself up for success.
By following this three-part formula—identifying the "why," establishing triggers and rewards, and habit stacking—listeners can start and maintain new habits successfully. Changing habits is a journey, and these insights can help you achieve your desired lifestyle changes.

Establish triggers and rewards: Create a morning routine that reminds you of your intention and pair it with a reward, such as listening to your favorite podcast or enjoying a phone call with a friend.
Practice habit stacking: Incorporate the new habit into an existing routine to increase the chances of success.
