0:35

You can't listen

0:37

to how you feel

0:40

and you can't listen

0:42

to your own carnal

0:44

mind. You've got

0:47

to really go to

0:49

the word and listen

0:51

for that still small

0:54

voice of God. I'm

0:56

Joyce Meyer and I believe

0:58

that God can heal

1:01

you everywhere you

1:03

heard. I'm so honored

1:05

that God has allowed me to

1:08

teach his word. And, you know,

1:10

I'm going to read you a

1:12

scripture and then I'm just going

1:14

to show you a little

1:16

example. I believe that many

1:18

of you, God has called you to

1:21

do something and you kind

1:23

of know it, but you get so

1:25

wrapped up and all the

1:27

stuff that you're doing, doing,

1:29

doing, doing that you just

1:31

forget about it. And I

1:33

think... Some of you had a dream,

1:35

you've lost your dream, it was taking

1:37

too long, you gave up on it,

1:40

whatever, you had a vision. And you

1:42

don't all have a vision to do

1:44

something like what I'm doing, but I

1:46

don't care if it's a dream to

1:48

clean your closet out. You need to

1:50

have, you need to be going somewhere.

1:53

You need to be making some kind

1:55

of progress in your life and

1:57

having something that you look forward

1:59

to. We're not meant to

2:01

just stagnate and do the same

2:04

day, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Wednesday, Wednesday,

2:06

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Thursday, Thursday, Thursday,

2:08

and gripe and murmur and complain.

2:11

We need to have vision and

2:13

purpose for our lives. Amen. And

2:15

so, Genesis 15, 1 through 6,

2:18

says, after these things, the word

2:20

of the Lord came to Abraham

2:22

in a vision, saying, fear not

2:25

Abraham, I am your shield. I

2:27

am your shield. your abundant compensation,

2:29

and your reward shall be exceedingly

2:31

great." And Abraham said, Lord, what

2:34

can you give me since I'm

2:36

going on from the world childless?

2:38

And he who shall be the

2:41

owner and the heir of my

2:43

house is this steward elisier of

2:45

Damascus. He had no error, and

2:48

he was going to have to

2:50

leave everything he had to, a

2:52

servant who worked for him. And

2:55

Abraham continued, you've given me no

2:57

child. And a servant born in

2:59

my house is my heir. And

3:01

behold, the word of the Lord

3:04

came to him saying, let me

3:06

stop here and say, yes, God

3:08

does speak to you. I don't

3:11

know why people, I don't know,

3:13

if you talk to God, it's

3:15

prayer, but if he talks to

3:18

you, you're crazy. And I mean,

3:20

all through the Bible, from beginning

3:22

to the end, God spoke... to

3:25

his people and we are no

3:27

different. God shows us things and

3:29

he tells us things. And the

3:31

word of the Lord came to

3:34

him saying this man shall not

3:36

be your heir, but he who

3:38

shall come from your own body

3:41

shall be your heir. Now I

3:43

want to tell you that it

3:45

didn't happen right away. As a

3:48

fact, it didn't happen for a

3:50

long time. And you know, when

3:52

we... Wait and we wait and

3:55

we wait and we wait and

3:57

we wait. I mean if you're

3:59

waiting... Well, part of

4:02

the reason why God brought

4:04

you here is for me

4:07

to remind you not to

4:09

give up. Amen. And I

4:11

love this part, and I

4:14

think this is what God's

4:16

done with you this weekend.

4:19

He brought him outside his

4:21

tent into the starlight. So

4:24

I've got my tent here.

4:26

And this tent represents... Your

4:31

life, your house, your neighborhood,

4:33

your job, and some of

4:36

you have been in it

4:38

so long, you've forgotten the

4:40

vision and the dream that

4:43

God gave you. And Abraham

4:45

believed God, that's all God

4:47

wants you to do, is

4:50

just trust him, just believe

4:52

him. No matter how impossible

4:54

it seems, just keep saying

4:57

God I believe you. And

5:00

he brought him outside, and

5:02

he said, look at the

5:05

stars. He brought him outside

5:07

of his tent, and I

5:09

love that. It's like he'd

5:11

been in there so long,

5:13

he'd lost his vision. And

5:15

God brought him out and

5:17

said, get your mind off

5:19

all that stuff and remember

5:21

what I said to you.

5:24

And I think that's what

5:26

God is saying to many

5:28

of you tonight. You've

5:30

had your nose stuck in

5:33

just the ordinary for so

5:35

long That it's time to

5:37

remember the extraordinary thing Come

5:39

on that God wants to

5:41

do in your life. Amen

5:44

All right, come on make

5:46

more noise than that for

5:48

Jesus Okay, well I've been

5:50

in ministry 45 years the

5:52

first five years all I

5:55

did was teach a couple

5:57

of home Bible studies and

5:59

I was faithful to 25

6:01

people who sat in my

6:03

living room for five years.

6:06

And those first five years

6:08

were testing ground for me

6:10

and God was testing my

6:12

faithfulness. I didn't make any

6:15

money for it. I eventually

6:17

quit my job so I

6:19

could study just to do

6:21

that and I had this

6:23

dream of doing what I'm

6:26

doing what I'm doing today.

6:28

But it certainly didn't seem

6:30

then like it was going

6:32

to happen when I looked

6:34

at those same 25 people

6:37

every week And I just

6:39

want to tell you if

6:41

you want to see God

6:43

do extraordinary things in your

6:45

life You're going to have

6:48

to be patient Because one

6:50

thing God is not is

6:52

in a hurry Most of

6:54

you have figured that out

6:56

by now, right? And

6:59

God will test you. And sometimes

7:02

it'll look like there's no way

7:04

that what he spoke to you

7:06

is going to come to pass.

7:09

And those are times when against

7:11

all odds you need to say,

7:13

God, I trust you. I don't

7:16

understand this. It hurts. It doesn't

7:18

feel good. It doesn't make any

7:20

sense. But I trust you. Now

7:23

I didn't know how to do

7:25

that back when I was going

7:27

through this. And so all my

7:30

suffering you get to benefit from

7:32

because now I can tell you

7:34

the right way to do it

7:37

Even though I didn't know the

7:39

right way to do it I

7:41

had to learn it the hard

7:44

way I didn't have anybody to

7:46

tell me people asked me sometimes

7:48

who mentored you and I know

7:51

what? The holy spirit I didn't

7:53

have a me to preach To

7:55

people every day on TV and

7:58

TV and day star and all

8:00

these places around the world matter

8:02

of fact when I started doing

8:05

this there wasn't Very many women

8:07

who did and especially not anything

8:09

on any kind of a large

8:12

scale. But now thank God women

8:14

are finding out that they've got

8:16

quite a bit going on if

8:19

they'll just let God use them.

8:21

Amen. And I want to tell

8:23

you something and I want you

8:26

to please believe this. Now some

8:28

of you may be called to

8:30

a pulpit ministry but... That is

8:33

not that is by far not

8:35

the most important thing that you

8:37

could be called to do More

8:40

people are going to be one

8:42

one on one Then are ever

8:44

going to be one From a

8:47

place like this and what is

8:49

so important to me is that

8:51

I can get you to understand

8:54

how important you are Quit

8:57

gawking at people like me

9:00

and saying, I wish I

9:02

had a ministry like Johnny.

9:04

You know what? You probably

9:06

don't. Because I want to

9:08

tell you, this is a

9:10

very little tiny part of

9:13

what I have to do

9:15

to stand here and do

9:17

this. And so, if God

9:19

makes you do it, do

9:21

it. But if not, be

9:24

happy to minister to your

9:26

neighbor. Amen. And

9:28

you've all got a pulpit.

9:30

Every single one of you

9:32

have got a pulpit. It

9:34

may be your backyard fence.

9:37

It may be your desk

9:39

at work. It may be

9:41

why you're checking out at

9:43

the grocery counter. And you

9:45

don't always have to preach

9:47

to people. Matter of fact,

9:50

sometimes it's better to live

9:52

it instead of talking and

9:54

not living it. Amen.

9:57

Everybody thinks witness is getting

10:00

somebody in a corner and

10:02

preaching the gospel to them,

10:04

but you witness more with

10:07

your life than you ever

10:09

will, probably with your mouth.

10:11

Amen. So tonight I want

10:14

to talk to you about,

10:16

if I could go back

10:18

and do it all over

10:21

again, what would I change?

10:23

First of all, you can't

10:25

do that. The

10:30

main thing that you can

10:32

do from your mistakes is

10:34

learn from them. And then

10:37

part of the privilege I

10:39

have is I've been able

10:41

to use the mistakes that

10:43

I've made then to help

10:45

other people, hopefully not make

10:47

them. But most people go

10:49

ahead and make them anyway

10:51

because we're kind of dumb.

10:53

And we just got to

10:55

figure it out for ourselves.

10:57

Amen. I've

10:59

been through some stuff. So

11:01

first of all, the first thing

11:04

I would not do if I

11:06

could do it over again is

11:09

I wouldn't marry the first guy

11:11

that I married, which was not

11:13

Dave. I left home when

11:15

I was 18. My father had

11:18

been sexually abusing me for as

11:20

long as I could remember. I

11:23

was probably somewhere around... 12

11:25

to 15 years. It's all I

11:27

ever remember, so I don't know

11:29

if I was three, four, five,

11:32

or six, but I know I

11:34

was very, very little. And my

11:37

mother knew it. She let

11:39

fear rule her life. That's why

11:41

I hate fear so much. And

11:43

her fear kept her from doing

11:46

anything to protect me. And it

11:48

just destroyed her life, ruined her

11:51

life. As soon as I

11:53

graduated from high school, I left

11:55

home. And I was 18 in

11:57

June and graduated that same time.

12:00

So I was 18 years

12:02

old. old when I left home

12:04

and I thought that I had

12:07

got away from my problem. I

12:09

didn't realize that I took it

12:12

with me and my soul. See

12:14

you can look perfectly fine

12:16

on the outside and be an

12:18

absolute total mess on the inside.

12:21

And that's really what most of

12:23

us are. We smile at each

12:26

other in church and say praise

12:28

the Lord and thank you

12:30

Jesus. Glory to God and how

12:32

are you? I'm fine. Thank you,

12:35

Jesus. And we're not fine. And

12:37

one of the things we

12:39

need to do is get honest

12:42

with each other. Have some honest

12:44

sincere talks with people you can

12:46

trust and say, I need help,

12:49

I need help from God. Things

12:54

are not right. We need

12:56

to stop blaming everybody else

12:58

for the messes in our

13:00

life and take responsibility. But

13:02

I'll get to that in

13:05

a few minutes. Now, I

13:07

married the first guy that

13:09

asked me because I was

13:11

desperate. I thought nobody would

13:14

ever want me because I'd

13:16

been sexually abused and so...

13:20

This guy was

13:22

handsome, he was

13:25

good looking, I

13:27

thought it was

13:29

a bargain. I

13:32

knew, I knew,

13:34

I was making

13:37

a mistake. It

13:39

was just a

13:41

little, gnawing, but

13:44

I was afraid,

13:46

and I was

13:48

desperate. So

13:51

I did it anyway. And

13:53

I just want to tell

13:56

you, don't do that. Don't

13:58

be so desperate. that you

14:01

do something dumb, it's going

14:03

to end up causing you

14:06

problems for years and years

14:08

and years. Abraham was waiting

14:10

for God to give him

14:13

a son, and God told

14:15

him it would be a

14:18

son from his own body.

14:20

Not he wasn't going to

14:23

have the baby, but from

14:25

his own body. And

14:28

they got tired of

14:30

waiting, so they got

14:32

a fleshly plan on

14:35

how they're going to

14:37

get God's will. We

14:39

never do that, do

14:41

we? Right idea. I

14:43

know what God wants

14:45

me to do. as

14:47

a secondary wife. Now

14:50

you gotta be dumb

14:52

if you give your

14:54

husband another wife. But

14:56

just to be fair,

14:58

culturally that was not

15:00

that far outside of

15:02

normal then. And I

15:04

frankly can't imagine how

15:07

that worked. But anyway,

15:09

you know, it's like

15:11

you can have them

15:13

tonight. I'll get them

15:15

tomorrow now, you know.

15:17

That wouldn't work too

15:19

good, I don't think.

15:21

And, um... So

15:26

he got her pregnant and

15:28

they had Ishmael now here's

15:30

what I want to tell

15:33

you 13 years later I

15:35

think it was they had

15:37

Isaac I don't know how

15:39

many years I may be

15:41

wrong about that but long

15:43

time later and If you

15:45

get messed up with Ishmael,

15:47

it's going to take a

15:49

lot longer to get Isaac

15:52

Now you gotta you know

15:54

get in the spirit with

15:56

me here a little bit

15:58

What I'm saying is if

16:00

you go off and do

16:02

your own thing, then it's

16:04

going to take longer to

16:06

get the thing that God

16:09

had in mind for you.

16:11

And so you may get

16:13

tired of waiting, but if

16:15

you get tired of waiting

16:17

and go off and do

16:19

your own thing, you're just

16:21

going to make yourself wait

16:23

longer. And the enemy will

16:25

always... Dangle-ish

16:28

mail in your face

16:30

while you're waiting for

16:32

Isaac. I remember I

16:34

was in California and

16:36

I wanted to do,

16:39

I wanted to preach

16:41

like I get to

16:43

now so bad I

16:45

couldn't hardly stand it.

16:47

And everything I did

16:49

was little, little, little,

16:51

little. And I didn't

16:53

have any little dreams.

16:56

I'm not a person

16:58

that likes living. I

17:00

like everything big, you

17:02

know? If you're gonna

17:05

do it, do it.

17:07

If you're gonna wear

17:09

it, let it sparkle.

17:11

Make it shine. And,

17:14

uh... I like a

17:16

big bathroom. I like...

17:18

I want space. And,

17:20

uh... I was

17:23

in California, I had gotten

17:25

a speaking engagement, which I

17:27

was so thrilled to have,

17:29

and I was laying across

17:32

my bed one day and

17:34

praying about a situation that

17:36

had come up because a

17:38

man had came to Dave

17:41

and I, and he was...

17:43

I guess you'd call him

17:45

an agent, and he said,

17:48

you're really... good at what

17:50

you're doing and if you'll

17:52

I'd like to take you

17:54

on as a client and

17:57

be your agent and I

17:59

can I can get you

18:01

speaking engagements I can get

18:03

you here and I can

18:06

get you there and I

18:08

can do this and that

18:10

and something else. Well that

18:13

was my issue now and

18:15

you don't know how bad

18:17

I wanted to say yes

18:19

but as I laid across

18:22

that bed that afternoon I

18:24

knew down deep in here

18:26

that God said I'll

18:31

do what needs

18:33

to be done.

18:35

I'll get you

18:38

invited to places.

18:40

I'll open the

18:42

doors for you.

18:44

Don't do this.

18:46

And I'm so

18:48

glad I didn't.

18:51

Because I might

18:53

have missed what

18:55

God has for

18:57

my life. And

19:00

I just want you to

19:02

be so careful, because the

19:04

Bible says in the last

19:06

days there's going to be

19:08

great deception. Great deception coming

19:10

on the earth. And that

19:12

means that you can't listen

19:14

to how you feel, and

19:16

you can't listen to your

19:18

own carnal mind. You've got

19:20

to really go to the

19:22

word and listen for that

19:24

still small voice of God.

19:27

And many times it doesn't

19:29

come in words, it's just,

19:31

you just know, it's just,

19:33

I just wish God would

19:35

shout sometimes. But he whispers.

19:37

And you got to pay

19:39

attention to those whispers. And

19:41

I don't know why he

19:43

doesn't just come and sit

19:45

on my bed and say

19:47

joys do this, joys do

19:49

that. I don't know why

19:51

he makes it so hard

19:53

sometimes to, but he wants

19:55

us to press him to

19:57

press him to him. And

20:00

he wants us to take the

20:02

time for some things like this.

20:04

Not just because of what I'm

20:06

going to say, but just the

20:09

fellowship you're going to have with

20:11

other people, the worship, just getting

20:13

away, getting outside your tent, and

20:15

getting your vision fresh again. And

20:17

some of you, if you did

20:19

come by yourself, man, two days

20:21

in a hotel room by yourself,

20:24

could be the greatest thing that

20:26

ever happened to you. Amen.

20:28

Listen for that still small voice

20:31

and don't do dumb things. Because

20:33

isn't that we learn everything when

20:35

we're just being stupid? And we

20:37

think we're so smart. We think

20:40

we, you know, are doing just

20:42

the right thing and we're just

20:44

doing the dumbest stuff and then,

20:46

you know, God comes along, gets

20:48

us out of it and and

20:51

then on top of that, uses

20:53

it works it out for good

20:55

in our lives. So

20:57

I married this guy and we

20:59

were married five years and probably

21:01

in those five years we maybe

21:04

lived together six months and He

21:06

had more problems than me if

21:08

that was possible and he was

21:10

a con man Smooth talker good-looking

21:12

lazy didn't want to work He

21:14

was a used car salesman and

21:16

they just not that there's anything

21:18

wrong with him Not trying to

21:20

be rude to anybody, but he

21:23

just liked to hang out on

21:25

the car lot and pretend to

21:27

be a big shot and never

21:29

made much money. And what he

21:31

did, I never saw any of

21:33

it. And I mean, I woke

21:35

up one night and he was

21:37

trying to get my wedding ring

21:39

off my finger so he could

21:42

sell it. You know? And I

21:44

cannot even tell you how many

21:46

times. The guy just disappeared. In

21:48

those five years, he would... Leave

21:50

to go somewhere and he wouldn't

21:52

come back for four months or

21:54

five months and then I mean,

21:56

he abandoned me in California one

21:58

time and he... 18 years old

22:01

and he took me to Albuquerque,

22:03

New Mexico and back then they

22:05

would pay people to drive cars

22:07

to other places if somebody wanted

22:09

to buy a certain car in

22:11

another state. They'd pay somebody if

22:13

the car was here to drive

22:15

it there. Well, that was what

22:18

he did to make money and

22:20

so he talked me into some

22:22

stupid stuff. He talked me into

22:24

stealing some money from the company

22:26

that I worked for and writing

22:28

some... payroll checks that

22:30

weren't mine and cash in

22:32

them and He sold my

22:34

car and we took off,

22:37

you know for this great

22:39

life and Before by the

22:41

way God made me go

22:43

pay that money back to

22:45

them eventually and that was

22:47

quite interesting You know I

22:49

go in 15 years later

22:51

I'm a Christian and I

22:53

stole some money from you

22:55

one time God

22:58

told me something, give it

23:00

back to you. And I'm

23:02

not saying, you know, you

23:04

don't have to do what

23:07

I did, but you know,

23:09

when God does tell you

23:11

to do something, you better

23:13

do it. And that's part

23:15

of the problem we have

23:17

today is people are doing

23:20

what they please instead of

23:22

doing what God tells them

23:24

to do. Are

23:26

you following your dreams? When God

23:28

calls you to do something, it's

23:31

important to step out in faith

23:33

and trust that he will support

23:35

you. Faith is one of those

23:37

words that is commonly used, but

23:40

not always easy to understand. So

23:42

what is faith? Faith is a

23:44

complete trust and confidence in something

23:46

or somewhat. As Christians, faith goes

23:48

so much deeper. Our confidence and

23:51

trust are secure in God and

23:53

his promises. But you might say,

23:55

I don't feel God or I

23:57

don't see anything he's doing. But

23:59

that's what faith means. And let's

24:02

be real. It isn't always easy.

24:04

24:06

today's offer. And it's going to

out what God can do for

24:46

you, you are going to have

24:48

to so to speak take a

24:51

chance. Living by faith means you'll

24:53

often have to take step one

24:55

before you know what the next

24:57

step is. Living by faith requires

24:59

you to take risks because God's

25:02

plan for you are always bigger

than what you could ever accomplish

or even imagine on your own.
