I have the sweetest treat for you all today, this interview with my friend, Stephanie. Stephanie is a teacher, dog owner, and wife of a cop. Today, we are talking all about how she has learned to cope with her husband working as a police officer in a dangerous city. When I was navigating my struggles with being married to medicine, I found a lot of camaraderie with Stephanie. Though our husbands are in two very different fields of service, we both struggled with loneliness and helplessness. This is when I learned that these feelings and emotions are not exclusive to medical marriages and I have found community with spouses of different demanding careers.

This is an inspiring and encouraging interview that made me admire the grit and strength of the families of our police officers and I know you will feel the same after hearing Stephanie speak.

In this episode you will hear Stephanie and I talk about:

  1. The rigorous process of becoming a police officer and the journey Stephanie's husband took to join the force ( 3:18)
  2. On managing loneliness and expectations in medical and law enforcement marriages (13:32)
  3. On fear, coping, and communicating through a recent tragedy at her husband's precinct (27:40)
  4. On hurtful and helpful things to hear as a cop wife and ways in which she feels support (38:05)

MENTIONS:

**For the protection and privacy of my friend and her family, I will not release her last name or the city in which her husband works.
