0:36

Miller of the Buffalo Bills. We'll

0:38

visit with Max Crosby. We start

0:41

with Bill Bela Check. Coach. How was

0:43

your week. What would you assess

0:45

Baltimore's performance? Well, overall really

0:47

good. Jim, I thought that they were

0:49

strong in the kicking game. They were

0:51

strong offensively with the running game, they

0:53

converted some third downs, made some big

0:55

plays in the red area for touchdowns,

0:57

didn't get stopped for field goals. Lamar

0:59

was able to extend plays. Once again,

1:02

defensively, they had some balls tossed over

1:04

their head. They gave up some big

1:06

big shots, long plays, and that's been

1:08

a little bit of their Achilles heel all

1:10

year. They were able to overcome it, but...

1:12

That's something that you're just gonna have to

1:14

put a stop to if they can force teams

1:16

to drive the ball on them They're probably not

1:18

going to give it too many points It's

1:20

when they go with those you know on

1:23

50 yarders 40 yarders plays like that

1:25

that makes it tough But offensively they've

1:27

been they've been good all year and

1:29

the tight ends the receivers have all

1:31

been productive the quarterbacks having a fantastic

1:34

gear and you know He's certainly got to be one

1:36

of the top two guys in the MVP voting and

1:38

this James Cook he seemed like you know, this

1:40

guy can just turn it on and has been

1:42

running really well. Yeah, he sure has. He's given

1:45

the bills a big boost and when you combine

1:47

that with Josh and the way he's been

1:49

able to extend plays and the Buffalo

1:51

receivers have really stepped up for him. You

1:53

know, they lost digs and you know, concerned

1:55

about how good they'd be at receiver, but

1:57

you know, these young guys and the tight ends.

2:00

really stepped up, Cook stepped up in the running

2:02

game. And defensively they continue to play a

2:04

solid game. We'll see how they do against

2:06

Baltimore, you know, in this matchup this week.

2:08

But these are two good teams. And I could

2:10

see whichever team wins this Baltimore Buffalo

2:12

matchup, being a favorite next week in

2:14

the AFC championship game. Many weeks ago

2:16

we discussed it, I believe, after the Rams

2:19

game, they had given up 40 plus points,

2:21

the bills. Is that defense still a concern

2:23

to you or do you or do you

2:25

think they've shorted up somewhat and going against

2:27

Lamar Jackson and Derek Jackson and Derek Henry?

2:29

If you get into a shootout with them,

2:32

that's putting an awful lot of pressure,

2:34

as you stated earlier in the season

2:36

on your offense. I do think it's

2:38

a concern. Absolutely, Jim, I 100% think

2:40

it's concerned. They're not real big.

2:42

They're running game for Baltimore, you know,

2:45

will be strong. They'll have trouble

2:47

with that. And they're not real fast.

2:49

They still give up plays in the secondary

2:51

when you can get to them. But

2:53

they play from ahead a lot like they

2:55

did last week, and against Denver. Josh

2:58

Allen just out of fantastic year. As you

3:00

said, Cook's been good and they've gotten great

3:02

performances from their tight ends and the young

3:04

receivers have stepped up. They got a lot going

3:07

for him but I am concerned about

3:09

Buffalo's defense absolutely. I mean we can

3:11

see Baltimore Buffalo that game being in

3:13

the 30s easy. You've been through this so many

3:15

times when you're when you're a good team and

3:17

you're on the road, how much is there a home

3:19

field advantage? Yeah, not nearly as much as having a

3:22

good team is more important than playing

3:24

on the playing on the home field.

3:26

I think whichever team wins the Baltimore

3:28

Buffalo game, we'll be able to go

3:31

into Kansas City and have a real

3:33

good chance to win there, if Kansas

3:35

City beats Houston. So Coach, what

3:37

are the perils exactly of being

3:39

on the road? Is it the

3:41

travel and the bad beds and

3:43

the snap count? What exactly

3:45

is the worst thing about being on

3:47

the road? For good teams, I don't

3:49

think it's that big of a deal.

3:51

There's a little bit of momentum and

3:53

energy from the fans, but again in a

3:56

game like this Divisional games championship games.

3:58

I don't think you know Energy should

4:00

be too big of an issue for the team.

4:02

You can give it some energy up for this game

4:04

then probably they're all in sport. But crowd noise

4:06

and audible, and Baltimore doesn't audible that much. I don't

4:08

think it'll be that big of a deal

4:10

for them. I really don't. It'll be loud, but

4:12

that doesn't, that shouldn't affect them too much.

4:15

Jim Gray with Bill Belichick. We're here

4:17

on Let's Go. Let's Go is brought

4:19

to you by Morton's The Steakhouse. Celebrate

4:21

4:23

Steakhouse. Morton's is the prime place to

4:25

take your special someone for that perfect

4:27

steak and unrivaled dining experience. It's visit

4:29

mortons.com for reservations. Coach, let's

4:31

look at the other side of what happened to

4:33

the Texans and I elated the Chargers 32

4:36

to 12. Justin Herbert had four interceptions, you

4:38

know, just had an awful day and

4:40

the Texans took advantage. What

4:42

did you see in the Texans that would

4:44

give you some hope that they can

4:47

compete next week with the Chiefs? Well, I

4:49

think that it's been an issue for Texans all

4:51

year and their defense kind of carried them in

4:53

the charger game and then they were able to

4:55

take, as you said, take advantage of the turnovers.

4:57

But just too much sloppy play

4:59

on offense, penalties and missed

5:01

assignments and pressure and you

5:04

know, Stroud's kind of on the run more than

5:06

he should or I think needs to be. They

5:08

just haven't played with the consistency offensively that

5:10

I think they don't need to play with

5:12

to beat these other good teams in the

5:14

AFC. So, but if they can pull

5:16

it together for a couple of games, it might be a

5:18

different story. But you know, Stroud's really

5:21

been struggling all year, but he's been under

5:23

a lot of pressure and a lot of duress. And

5:25

that won't get easier with Kansas City. How big

5:27

of an advantage to have that week off? You

5:29

get a win without playing. They

5:31

earned it, they earned it. Kansas City and

5:33

Detroit, both. They were big winners this week, didn't

5:36

have to play, didn't lose any players

5:38

with injuries or have to deal with that.

5:40

They've been able to get a little bit ahead

5:42

on their game planning and maybe,

5:45

you know, put in a couple of special plays

5:47

that they can use this week or if

5:49

it goes further. But it's a big advantage to

5:51

have that week off. And I think I would

5:53

expect both Detroit and Kansas City to be

5:55

ready to go with that extra time. How

5:57

did you handle the week off? Was

6:00

it predominantly to get

6:02

rest and injured players, you know,

6:04

more treatment and so forth? Or was

6:06

it to mentally start focusing

6:09

on this journey of getting step by

6:11

step where you need to go? What

6:13

did you prioritize? You know, Chairman, it

6:15

kind of all dependent on what

6:17

would look like in front of us,

6:19

who we could potentially be playing and

6:22

things like that. You know, I think

6:24

for your team like Kansas City.

6:26

You've got to be thinking about

6:28

mobile quarterbacks defensively, whether it be

6:31

Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, CJ Stroud.

6:33

You've got to be working on things like

6:35

that. And, you know, offensively for a team

6:37

like Kansas City, you know, thinking about

6:39

the past rush that teams like Buffalo and

6:42

Houston have on the edge. How you're going

6:44

to handle that? You know, Kansas City's had

6:46

issues that tackle really pretty much all

6:48

year, regardless of who they play. They're going

6:50

to have to work on. And if you

6:53

have a special player too that maybe you've

6:55

been working on or maybe it looks

6:57

like it might have a chance against

6:59

one of these future opponents in the playoffs,

7:01

maybe you tee that. I thought you saw

7:04

Philadelphia do that two or three times in

7:06

their game against Green Bay. They had special plays

7:08

like where they faked the Tush Push and

7:10

went back and tried to launch a deep

7:12

one on that or a couple option plays.

7:14

It's just little wrinkles that were

7:16

a little different that I'm sure that

7:19

Green Bay hadn't been preparing for. Those

7:21

are the kind of things that at a

7:23

time like this can, you know, maybe be

7:25

the difference in a tight game. Let's go

7:27

is brought to you by American Express. Sometimes

7:30

you've just got to be there. That's when

7:32

the moment becomes larger than life, the

7:34

roar of the crowd, the electricity in

7:36

the building. And with the dedicated Amex

7:38

card, member entrance at selected venues, you're

7:41

one step closer to it all. You

7:43

had to be there, and so you

7:45

were. That's the powerful backing of American

7:47

Express. And folks, be sure be sure.

7:49

Great event, put on by American Express,

7:52

so tune in and enjoy the golf action.

7:54

The PGA players have come out of Ohio

7:56

and now back in the mainland United States.

7:58

The Amex is all. week long. Mike

8:01

McCarthy's contract has run out

8:03

with the Dallas Cowboys and they

8:05

have agreed that they will not

8:08

continue together. So Mike McCarthy becomes

8:10

a free agent. The Cowboys are

8:12

looking for a brand new coach.

8:14

We'll get to Coach Bellichek and

8:17

his comments on that. First, we're

8:19

going to go through the NFC coach. Philly

8:21

over Green Bay and Philly probably should

8:23

have had 20, 21, 28 more points

8:26

on the board. What did you see

8:28

in that game? as the Eagles go

8:30

forward. Well, Jim, I thought it was

8:32

an impressive performance by the Eagles.

8:34

Certainly, Barkley, you know, had

8:36

another big day and the ball was

8:39

spread around to the receivers, the tight

8:41

ends, and that was, you know, a big

8:43

run, the touchdown run, catch and run

8:45

to the tight end. So they've got

8:47

a lot of ways they can move

8:50

the ball and certainly the offensive

8:52

line did a great job of

8:54

blocking and also protecting the quarterback.

8:56

On the Green Bay side of it, just really

8:59

it's probably a disappointing performance for

9:01

the Packers. You know, fumble

9:03

the opening kickoff, spot the Eagles

9:05

seven points right off the bat, then miss

9:07

a field goal, which has been an issue

9:09

for Green Bay all year. The field goal

9:12

kicking has been a problem all year.

9:14

So bouncing off the uprights and instead

9:16

of really being able to stay in

9:18

the game or even tie them, they

9:20

just, you know, kind of gave those

9:22

opportunities away and then ultimately in the

9:24

second half. You know the Eagles kind of

9:27

kind of took over although you know the

9:29

Packers hung in there and you know and

9:31

kept the game competitive But

9:33

the interceptions by love were just

9:35

just too much and and they couldn't

9:37

overcome it So one team looked like

9:39

they were really sharp and ready to

9:41

go Green Bay just they left some

9:43

plays on the field that

9:45

ultimately Philadelphia was able to take

9:47

advantage of and and they move on

9:50

Let's go is brought to you by

9:52

Casamigo's tequila is brought to you

9:54

by those who drink it and they

9:56

advanced, beat the Buccaneers,

9:58

Dan Quinn. Might be interesting when

10:01

Dan Quinn plays Dan Campbell everybody

10:03

going forward on fourth down passing

10:05

up field goals That's to talk

10:07

about on Mondays Because there's a

10:10

lot of Monday morning quarterbacks like

10:12

myself who wonder what the X

10:14

going on here But pretty impressive

10:16

by the commanders to go in with

10:18

a rookie quarterback on the road and beat a

10:20

team that had been playing you know pretty

10:23

well. What do you think about the

10:25

commanders victory? Well, let's start with

10:27

the bucks Jim. I think Tampa has

10:29

to be Really sick about the way that game

10:31

went. They've done a lot of good things

10:33

this year and then to fumble two snaps

10:35

and just make plays that they haven't made

10:37

all year and I don't want to say

10:40

give the game away But they really did

10:42

then they had two chances to stop Washington

10:44

on fourth down couldn't make either one of

10:46

them and then fumble snaps and screw up

10:48

plays that really in the end cost in

10:50

the game It's just a hard way to lose.

10:53

I'm sure they feel like they lost it

10:55

more than the commanders won it, but give

10:57

Washington credit. They made the plays they need

10:59

to make, even if it's bouncing the ball off

11:01

the upright. That was a, you know, kind

11:03

of a fitting way for that game

11:05

to end. But Jane Daniels, once again,

11:07

for a rookie quarterback, was really impressive,

11:09

both in the running game, his decision-making,

11:11

his ball security, and in his ability to

11:13

convert on a couple big fourth down

11:15

plays. It seems like he's getting a

11:17

little more confident week after week, and that

11:19

bones well for him. I do think the commanders

11:21

well for him. a lot of things that they

11:24

need to do better to really get to a

11:26

championship level, but they're gaining on it and they

11:28

just keep finding ways to win and in the

11:30

end it's not who has the most talent, it's

11:33

who plays the best on any given Sunday

11:35

and Washington's proven that one way or another,

11:37

whether it's a Hail Mary or a doing

11:39

field goal, that they still are doing it

11:41

on a consistent basis. Jim Gray with

11:43

Bill Bela Tech, let's go, is

11:46

brought to you by the Bill

11:48

Bela Check Foundation, providing coaching, mentorship,

11:50

and financial support to student-athletes, communities,

11:53

and organizations across the country. For

11:55

more information, please visit Bill Bela

11:57

Check Foundation, building champions, for tomorrow.

11:59

Mike McCarthy and the Dallas

12:01

Cowboys are not going to

12:03

continue with one another as contract

12:06

run out and now the Cowboys have

12:08

made the decision along with McCarthy that

12:10

he will no longer be there. What

12:12

are your thoughts on that? Well that's

12:15

you know a situation that transpired a

12:17

week ago and obviously weeks before that

12:19

I'm sure that the Jones family

12:22

ownership talked about and and

12:24

ultimately you know a ripe decision that

12:26

they feel is best for their franchise.

12:28

You know, Mike's done a great job

12:30

as he always has. You know, his

12:32

teams played hard, played competitively all the

12:34

way through. So I'm sure that there'll

12:37

be, you know, interest from other organizations

12:39

in talking to him, but anytime a

12:41

situation ends like that as a coach,

12:44

you know, you're always disappointed and always

12:46

try to help the people that were

12:48

there with you that may not have,

12:50

you know, the opportunities that you might

12:53

have going forward as a head coach.

12:55

That's a profession we're in and I'm sure

12:57

that they'll all move on but for the

12:59

cowboys They'll have to you know decide what

13:01

kind of direction they want to go in

13:04

and I'm sure that they'll you know do

13:06

what they feel is best for the organization

13:08

This would have had bill bell to

13:10

check written all over it. I don't

13:13

understand how all of these places and

13:15

look there's ways to get to you you

13:17

come on this program every week We

13:19

can get to you I'm certain that the

13:21

Jones family and those around them and

13:23

those around them and everybody across the

13:26

league, the bears and so forth.

13:28

There's ways of communicating. I mean,

13:30

Mike Freibel's hired, isn't that just a

13:32

coincidence? We all know the Rooney rule

13:34

and we all know all of these

13:37

things, but come on. I know you're

13:39

gonna have some reluctance in this, but

13:41

how are all of these people just

13:43

not knocking down to get the greatest coach

13:45

in the history of the game? And

13:47

they don't even want to talk to

13:49

them? They don't even get a signal or

13:52

a message to you? It's inexplicable.

13:54

How do you, how do you, how do you

13:56

internalize this? Yeah, well, Jim, I'm not worried about

13:58

what anybody else is. it wasn't doing.

14:00

I'm focused on Carolina and Tarheels

14:03

and making the 25 team there

14:05

in Carolina. As good as we

14:07

can make it and build the

14:09

program to a high level and

14:11

you know competing ACC. So I

14:13

can't I can't worry about what

14:15

everybody else is. It wasn't doing.

14:17

That sounded like an answer pre- Instagram.

14:20

That's an old snapface answer. Can't

14:22

teach an old dog new tricks,

14:24

right? You're in the modern era

14:26

though now, but it just seems...

14:28

crazy to me, crazy to me, that this

14:30

could occur. I mean, I know you're, look, they're

14:32

using against you for the recruiting, all

14:35

the speculation, the buyout, the whole deal.

14:37

They use it against you. And now

14:39

you're settled where you're at, and you've

14:41

made it clear that that's your commitment

14:43

for the time being, and that's what

14:45

you want to do. It's ridiculous

14:48

circumstance that this is what it's

14:50

come to. And we're going to interview a

14:52

bunch of assistant coaches who aren't even

14:54

in the same breath as you. and that's

14:56

not to diminish them, they may

14:58

have great careers. It's just crazy.

15:01

Coach, they've picked Mike Rable

15:03

to replace Mayo who replaced you.

15:05

You've been with Mike, you know Mike for

15:07

a long time. You're also aware of

15:09

what he did with the Titans in

15:11

his coaching career. Your thoughts on Mike

15:14

Rable becoming the new head coach

15:16

today of the New England Patriots. Yeah,

15:18

I think Mike's a terrific coach. I

15:20

thought he did a great job at Tennessee.

15:23

His teams are always very well

15:25

prepared. They're tough. They're competitive. They

15:27

play very good situational football. I

15:30

think he does an excellent job

15:32

of developing players and building a

15:34

team. He's a very good strategic

15:36

coach and good game plan coach. I

15:39

think Michael do well wherever he is. You

15:41

cheer for him? Yeah, I love Mike Rable. I

15:43

love all that Mike did for me and a

15:45

lot of respect for his coaching

15:47

career, whether it be at Ohio State, the

15:49

Texans, Tennessee, and going forward. And with

15:52

that, Coach, appreciate your time. Enjoy the playoff

15:54

games next week and we will talk to

15:56

you next Monday night. All right, sounds good,

15:58

Jen. Thank you. That's Coach Bill Belichick. to

16:00

ever do it. The ReFi boom is here.

We've got the great Peter King, Hall

16:48

of Famer, joining us as well as

16:50

Las Vegas Raiders, Perennial All -Pro. Max

16:52

Crosby, Max, you got a buddy on here. Introduce

16:55

your guest. Yeah, we got a

16:57

living legend in the building. One of my

16:59

big brothers in this league. I've said

17:01

it a million times, but this dude right

17:03

here, he instilled a level of confidence

17:05

in me before I ever saw it. And

17:07

that's why I'm so indebted to Von,

17:09

because I didn't, he saw it before I

17:11

saw it. And a guy like him

17:13

at his stature and the things he's done

17:16

in the league, it's everything I aspire

17:18

to do in being in this league. So

17:20

I know Von is one of the

17:22

most humble dudes in football, and he'll never

17:24

say, yeah, I'm the best and I've done

17:26

this, but like I always try to go out

17:28

of my way to do it because this dude is

17:30

genuine and one of my best friends in the

17:32

league and like a big brother to me. So today

17:34

we got Future, First Ballot, Hall of Famer, Von

17:36

Miller in the building. Man, I appreciate you, Max. That

17:39

was dope, man. I appreciate all you guys for

17:41

having me on Peter, Jim, Max, man. This is dope.

17:43

Well, you're always going to have a soft place

17:45

in my heart because I'm from Denver. So

17:47

Super Bowl 50 MVP, beating

17:50

the Carolina Panthers. And

17:52

that was just a great moment for my

17:54

mom and dad. We're alive at the

17:56

time and my brothers and everybody, season ticket

17:59

holders. have that in our heart

18:01

but you got bigger things going on here now

18:03

I mean it's always the now and you got

18:05

a huge game coming up here with with

18:07

Baltimore and it's in Buffalo and so

18:09

the the mafia will be out and this is kind

18:11

of this is kind of the game everybody's

18:13

been looking at this you know people want

18:15

to jump ahead to Kansas City but right

18:17

now these are the two MVP quarterbacks

18:20

and it's going to be who's going to

18:22

be able to stop who so what are

18:24

your early impressions on what's going to transpire

18:27

this weekend bond. But they got really, they

18:29

got a really good football team very

18:31

well around it. Um, offense, defense, special

18:33

teams. Um, they got great coaching staff.

18:35

You know, me and, and Max are

18:37

very familiar with, with Chuck Smith. He's

18:40

the defensive line coach over there. You

18:42

got, um, John, is John Harbaugh, Jim

18:44

Harbaugh? Which, which? It's John. John, I

18:46

know it's one of the, it's one

18:48

of the Harball, one of the Hall

18:50

of Fame head coaches. Take a little

18:53

shot there, huh. No, no, no, no,

18:55

no, no, no, no shot and no

18:57

shot intended. Lamar Jackson, you know, he,

18:59

he's the other MVP quarterback and

19:01

their defense is playing lights out

19:03

as well. Offensive line is playing

19:05

well and you can't forget Derek

19:07

Henry and this running game that

19:09

they have too. So we have

19:11

our hands, you know, very, very

19:13

full. We had to go out

19:15

there and play our style of

19:17

football one player at a time to have

19:20

a chance to go and win it.

19:22

across from Lamar Jackson. How is

19:24

that to rush him? How is it

19:26

different from lining up against

19:28

every other quarterback you play?

19:30

Luckily I got guys like Max that

19:32

I can just you know I could

19:35

just turn on his film and you

19:37

know I can see him having sex

19:39

and I can see him having sex

19:41

success and sex against those guys and

19:43

I can you know just relate that

19:45

into my game like I just you

19:47

know we me and Max we have been you know

19:49

bouncing ideas off each other and past rush ideas for

19:51

a long time now so I could just turn on

19:54

the film and I could kind of see what he's

19:56

thinking and if not I can just call them on

19:58

the phone and just and just get those rush plans

20:00

but going against Lamar Jackson you don't want

20:02

to rest too conservative but you don't want

20:04

to be too reckless at the same time

20:07

it's it's you just got to play your

20:09

game and at this point in the season

20:11

you know our coaches staff has to trust

20:13

us and we have to trust those guys

20:15

he's gonna make plays but we got to

20:17

be able to be in situations to make

20:20

plays as well and in cage rushing those

20:22

guys each and every play is it's not

20:24

effective it's Lamar Jackson he's gonna make plays

20:26

so you just got to You just got

20:28

to rush man, and you gotta be conscious

20:30

of where you're rushing and how you're rushing

20:33

it. Of course you have to know where

20:35

he is, you have to know where the

20:37

chipper is, but at the end of the

20:39

day, you just gotta go out there and

20:41

play your game. Jim and Graham is Max

20:43

Crosby, the great, Von Miller, and Peter King,

20:46

we're here on Let's Go is brought to

20:48

you by, Golden Nuggett Hotel and casinos with

20:50

eight world-class locations, locations from coast to coast

20:52

to there's no better place to stay, to

20:54

stay, to stay, to stay, to stay, to

20:56

stay, to stay, to stay, to stay, to

20:59

stay, to stay, to stay, to stay, to

21:01

stay, to stay, to stay, to stay, to

21:03

stay, to stay, to stay, to stay, to

21:05

stay, to stay, to stay, to stay, to

21:07

stay, to stay, to stay, to stay, to

21:10

stay, to stay, to stay, to stay, to

21:12

stay, to stay, to Avon, you've played with

21:14

great quarterbacks, Peyton Manning, Matthew Stafford, and now

21:16

Josh Allen, all very different in the way

21:18

they go about being professional and winning. Do

21:20

you see a common thread, however? The common

21:23

thread that I see is they all have

21:25

this unique ability to elevate the play of

21:27

their peers, whether that's Peyton Manning, you know,

21:29

with Demaris Thomas, was well-kered. Decker, Julius Thomas,

21:31

Owen Daniels. It didn't matter who he had.

21:33

He had this special ability to elevate the

21:36

play of the guys that he was playing

21:38

with. Matthew Stafford. We had Cooper Cub, we

21:40

had O'Dell, he had Cam Acres, Andrew Whitworth

21:42

on the line, holding things down, and he

21:44

just had this special ability to, you know,

21:46

bring the most out of those guys. And

21:49

the same thing with Joshua, you know, we

21:51

don't have the big name, we just got

21:53

a Mark Cooper half, you know, halfway through

21:55

the season, but other than him, we don't

21:57

have like the big name guys, and he

21:59

has this. ability to make all of those

22:02

guys look like Superstars make all of those

22:04

guys look like all pros and it's offensive

22:06

line I can't say enough about the offensive

22:08

line that we got and I feel like

22:10

the confidence that Josh has is you

22:13

know a byproduct of this offensive line

22:15

they've been playing lights out all season

22:17

long and you know all of those

22:19

teams and now I think about we

22:21

had really got offensive lines and those

22:23

quarterbacks you know they're very very different

22:25

but what makes them similar is their

22:27

ability to to elevate the play of

22:29

their peers. I mean, we saw Brady

22:31

do that with Welker and Edelman and

22:34

Amandola and, you know, guys just kept

22:36

coming through and he made them all

22:38

so much better and became superstars.

22:40

Max, go ahead. To go back on

22:42

your last point, Vaughn, I think that's, I

22:44

mean, just what she said with, that's

22:46

what makes players great. You know what

22:48

I mean, the guys that elevate everybody around

22:51

them, I think that's the most important thing.

22:53

You do the same thing with your D

22:55

line. the guys you know in Buffalo and

22:57

how everybody comes out to the SAC summit

23:00

and those guys look up to you and

23:02

they want to be like you you know

23:04

what I mean and I think I think

23:06

that's something that goes missing you know people

23:08

talk about the talent but the leadership point

23:11

is is super important so that's something I

23:13

see in you a ton and I aspire

23:15

to be like and back to your last

23:17

point as well I just wanted to add

23:20

a little bit because I agree so much I think

23:22

you're talking about he's gonna do whatever he wants he's

23:24

gonna hold the ball is gonna go crazy like you

23:26

truly have to you can't rush scared against him you

23:28

know what I mean that's the only way you're gonna

23:30

have a chance is not you got to be calculated

23:32

you got to be smart but at the same time

23:34

you can't rush him scared or that dude's gonna hold

23:36

the ball and he's gonna hold the ball and he's

23:38

gonna do whatever he wants out there so I'm just

23:40

I'm glad he touched on that point because a lot

23:42

of coaches like I've been in rooms where they're like

23:45

I've been in rooms where they're like this like this

23:47

week we're like this week we're like this week we're

23:49

just gonna stay in front That doesn't work. That's the

23:51

point in National Football League. You know what I mean?

23:53

I've had that happen. We try to do that with

23:55

Tyler Murray. And I'm like, I'm Russian. Like, you know

23:57

what I mean? Like, I'm not going to sit there

23:59

and not. like I've been there but I'm

24:01

glad you touched on that because you know

24:03

Lamar's incredible but like you said you can

24:06

respect him but you can't fear him you

24:08

know at the same time you got to

24:10

go get him and I'm looking forward to

24:13

seeing you play bro and I appreciate you

24:15

know and I think great you know and

24:17

I'm looking forward to seeing you play bro

24:19

and I appreciate you know and I think

24:22

great defensive coaches they understand that they're able

24:24

to pass the hard down around like I

24:26

can't have a high rush on each and

24:28

I just got to make a few more

24:31

plays in him. It's a way to beat

24:33

every team. It's a way to beat the

24:35

Buffalo Bills. It's a way to beat the

24:38

Baltimore Ravens. And it's just about who rolls

24:40

out there, you know, Sunday at 6.30, ready

24:42

to go. Final thought before we let you

24:44

go. Max told us why he thinks you're

24:47

so great and what you've done for him?

24:49

What do you think makes Max so great?

24:51

And how do you counsel him now to

24:53

have the patience to know that not only

24:56

is he as great as an individual, but

24:58

in time, in time, and the passage of

25:00

time he will get to that promised land

25:03

where he wants to be. Man I became

25:05

a fan of Max from you know the

25:07

very first time that I've seen him rush

25:09

he just rushed with so much violence and

25:12

so much passion and so much effort and

25:14

these are things that I had tried to

25:16

put in my game and it just came

25:18

so easily to Max so. I think instantly

25:21

when you see people do things that you

25:23

can do you you're already enamored with that

25:25

and a fan of that and you know

25:28

we are two totally different rushes in a

25:30

way he rushes and I wish that I

25:32

could rush like that I wish I had

25:34

the extra effort all the way down the

25:37

field play after play never come off the

25:39

field all game long all season long like

25:41

that was something that I always wanted to

25:43

have a part in my game and I

25:46

saw that in Max and then when you

25:48

meet him in person like and I think

25:50

That's another thing too when you meet him

25:53

in person and you get to know like

25:55

these past rushes whether it's Max and the

25:57

other young guys and You're able to see

25:59

who they really are and not only who

26:02

they really are but where they come from

26:04

You know you you have no for me

26:06

and who I am I it was just

26:08

destined for me You know to be a

26:11

fan of Max knowing his story. I'm always

26:13

at his wedding We do the past rush

26:15

we do the rush summit every year in

26:18

Vegas We talk on the phone if it's

26:20

a team that I played or if it's

26:22

a team that he played we talk on

26:24

the phone. We give each other the rush

26:27

tips Yeah, man, I'm, it's bigger than football.

26:29

You know, I started with football with

26:31

Max. Me being a fan of the

26:33

way he rushed with the passion and

26:35

the effort and it just morphed to

26:37

something else. He's more than just, you

26:39

know, my colleague in this league and

26:41

I want to see him in this

26:43

league and I want to see him

26:45

do all of that stuff, man, because

26:47

I know how much he puts into

26:49

it. So, whenever it's your real friends

26:51

and your real brothers that's winning, like,

26:53

like, it's a special moment for sure.

26:56

Hopefully we can keep doing this for

26:58

years and years and years man, and

27:00

you can get everything that you know your heart desires

27:02

my boy. Do you guys like to play together?

27:04

Man, that would be crazy, man.

27:06

If I could draw it up, if

27:08

I could draw it up, I would

27:11

love to have Max and my team

27:13

or be on Max's team. And, you

27:15

know, this is my 14th year in

27:17

the league. Nothing is too far fit.

27:20

So you really, you're really, you're 35

27:22

years old. Nothing's impossible. You'd look good

27:24

and silver and black. You never really

27:27

know, man. I thought I was gonna

27:29

be a Denver Bronronco for life. I

27:31

thought that it would just never. happen.

27:33

I just I never saw myself

27:35

being a Los Angeles round with Aaron

27:37

Donald and I go to the facility one

27:40

day and they tell me to come upstairs

27:42

and boom. So I know how this universe

27:44

works and my mom always tells me she

27:46

says if you if you want to make

27:49

God laugh, start making plans. So the only

27:51

plan that I have on the schedule is

27:53

to play football next year. So that's all

27:55

I got. Amen. Thanks so much for joining

27:57

us. Best of luck with the Buffalo Bill.

27:59

and against Baltimore this week. Tremendous to have you on the

28:01

program. Have been a big fan for a long time and it's

28:04

been a joy to cover your career and follow it. And Jim,

28:06

likewise, man, Peter, you already know, you know, you already know, you

28:08

already know how, you already know how, you already know how me

28:10

and you rock in Peter, I love you, man, I love you

28:12

man, I appreciate you, I appreciate you, me and you rock and

28:14

Peter, I love you, man, I love you man, I love you,

28:16

me and you, me and you, me and you, me and you,

28:18

me and you, me and you, me and you know, me and

28:20

you, me and you, me and you, me and you, me and

28:23

you, me and you, me and you, me and you, me and

28:25

you, me and you, me, me, me and you, me, me, me,

28:27

me, me, me, me, me, me, me and you know, me, me

28:29

wherever you get your podcast or listen on

28:31

the serious XM app. Great attracts

28:34

great because there's so

28:36

few guys that people like Max

28:38

and Vaughn can talk to. That's

28:40

why he wanted to be with

28:43

Aaron Donald. That's why he's friends

28:45

with Max. Great is attracted

28:47

to other great and when you

28:49

start looking around the room

28:51

that's hard to find. I love the

28:54

fact that they teach other pass

28:56

rushes, younger pass rushes. that they

28:58

download what's in their brain. And

29:01

Max von started that, right? Did

29:03

he start the past rush your

29:05

thing? Yeah, he, so we, it's called

29:07

the Sachs Summit now. Me, him and

29:09

Cam Jordan, we run it now, but

29:12

he started it way back, I believe,

29:14

2015, 2016, something like that, with Chuck

29:16

Smith. And the guy he was talking

29:19

about, now Chuck Smith is now the

29:21

Deline Coast for the Ravens. And he

29:23

has those guys, number one, sacks in

29:26

the league now. And Von is doing

29:28

his thing, built all of him, career,

29:30

and then, you know, obviously I've done

29:33

my thing. So it's crazy how the

29:35

world's collide, but yeah, it's special. And

29:37

that's the other point, like Peter, like

29:39

you said, and Jim, I think there's

29:42

levels to everything in life, like

29:44

football, business, whatever you're doing. There's just

29:46

when you know somebody that's on the

29:48

same wavelength as you, you just know

29:50

right away. You know what I mean?

29:52

It's like when you meet your wife,

29:54

you're like, that's my girl. Like when I

29:56

met Rachel, I knew right away. I felt that

29:58

way with only a few places. in the league

30:00

where I'm like, this dude understands

30:02

me. You know what I mean?

30:05

He's got that mindset where like,

30:07

he's gonna do whatever it takes

30:09

to win. And like, me and

30:11

von right out the gate, we're

30:13

locked in. And just seeing what

30:15

he's done is, has been so

30:17

cool. And like, the big thing

30:19

of the SAC summit, it's just

30:21

about the great thing of the

30:23

SAC summit, it's just about the

30:25

great thing of the SAC summit.

30:27

It's just about the great thing

30:29

of the sex summit, like, like,

30:31

like, like, like, like, like, like,

30:33

like, like, like, like, like, How'd

30:36

you do that spin move? And

30:38

then he'll go out there and

30:40

go get two sacks of a

30:42

spin move the next week. So

30:44

yeah, just a guy like him

30:46

is, he's a special dude, man,

30:48

I love that guy to death.

30:50

And like I said, like, having

30:52

a first ballot hall of fame

30:54

or a guy in your corner,

30:56

I mean, it's such a blessing,

30:58

I can't even, you know, I

31:00

could go on all day about

31:02

it, but it's just surreal to

31:04

me. Thank you, I love you

31:06

guys, appreciate it. You know, it's

31:09

not just football season, it's wedding

31:11
