Having a dad who grew up in the backwoods of Tennesse, and an immigrant mother from Peru James Martin had the privilege to "grow up poor around rich people" shaping his perspective of what a normal life should look like. After losing his father a few years ago James became the "man" of the house and was left the responsibility of taking care of his mother.
