1:12

nailed a first-round talent, pick

1:14

number 61 in the second

round and... If you remember

1:19

our perimeter perimeter, corner back

1:21

big boards, you already know

1:23

I agree with them. That

1:26

more right now on locked-on

bonus episode, so not usually a night that

2:32

we're streaming or broadcasting a show, but we're

2:35

going to drop one because the NFL draft

2:37

is a pretty big deal. Hopefully you

2:39

enjoy everything you hear, you see, and you

2:41

come back again soon. Locked on commanders is

2:43

a daily podcast covering the Washington commanders, and

2:45

it's part of the locked on podcast

2:47

network your team every day. One pick

2:50

on day two of the NFL draft

2:52

for Washington commanders general manager Adam Peters.

2:54

It was the 61 overall overall pick,

2:56

came in the second round. and it

2:58

was corner back Trey Amos out of

3:00

old Miss and every dayers who have

3:02

been here for our big board series

3:04

our position group big board series unfortunately

3:07

didn't get to the tackles in time

3:09

because I started the series too late

3:11

Josh Connolly Jr. the first round draft

3:13

draft pick certainly would have been one

3:15

of the top targets you kind of

3:17

have to take my word on that

3:19

though because I was never able to

3:21

finish it and get that product out to

3:23

you but you don't have to take

3:25

my word on Trey. As the insiders,

3:27

do we think Mikey Sander still is

3:29

moving back inside? Or do we think

3:31

Mikey Sander still is staying outside? Adam

3:33

Peters says that has not been decided

3:36

yet, but myself and the insiders agree

3:38

we think Mikey Sander so probably moving

3:40

back inside. So we looked at perimeter

3:42

corners. We all came out in

3:44

the wash tray amos of old miss

3:46

was our number two guys. Six foot

3:49

one hundred ninety five pound press man

3:51

corner had a second round projection according

3:53

to NFL. Com's evaluation of him. We'll

3:55

get into other evaluations of him as

3:57

well. So who is Trey Amos athletically?

3:59

40 time right of 443. Very good

4:01

speed, not super elite burner speed, but

4:03

very good speed in the national football

4:06

league at a 32.5 inch vertical. So

4:08

some pretty good lower body power there.

4:10

Only allowed two touchdowns on the field

4:12

in 2024 by his final college season,

4:14

playing for Ole Miss, had three interceptions,

4:16

a career high in the single season,

4:18

four total interceptions. Three of them coming

4:20

in his final season. The other one

4:22

coming into his second to last season.

4:24

So the last two years, the ball

4:26

skills really starting to show up. for

4:28

Trey Amos. 21% of the passes that

4:30

were thrown in his direction, he forced

4:32

it in completion against, and that is

4:34

a PFF stat. That was the third

4:36

best tied for third best of the

4:38

group of perimeter corners that we evaluated.

4:40

One of the reasons that Trey Amos

4:42

ended up as high as we did,

4:45

and he played 35.5% of his snaps

4:47

in man coverage, which is a pretty

4:49

good amount of coverage in man, because

4:51

we know the Washington commanders are also

4:53

a defense in the national football league

4:55

relative to the other teams that plays.

4:57

When you looked at him, looked at

4:59

his tape, studied him as a

5:01

player, good experience, started off

5:04

his career at Louisiana, ended

5:06

up transferring to Alabama, finally

5:08

ended up transferring to Ole

5:11

Miss after Nick Savin's retirement.

5:13

So he's played for multiple

5:15

teams, multiple schemes. Now Alabama

5:17

and Ole Miss were basically

5:20

for multiple teams, multiple schemes. Alabama and

5:22

Ole Miss were basically the same schemes,

5:24

but also. to have success while doing

5:26

so. You love that kind of experience.

5:29

Physical cornerback, loves to play, press man,

5:31

does all those good things that you

5:33

want to, does hesitate sometimes in zone,

5:35

especially if he's got to work like

5:38

a deeper quarter, something like that, he

5:40

does have a little bit of a

5:42

hesitation to him at times, and he's got

5:44

to work like a deeper quarter, something like

5:46

that, he does have a little bit of

5:48

a hesitation to him at times, and he's

5:51

a cover of the receiver, prevent the receiver from

5:53

getting the getting the receiver, getting the receiver,

5:55

You're not too too worried about it, of

5:57

course. You can't get to the point where

5:59

you're just... not relevant at all. You've got

6:01

to be able to contribute something, especially

6:03

with the amount of teams out there

6:06

that do run on the perimeter, like

6:08

the Detroit Lions, which Amir Gibbs, the

6:10

Philadelphia Eagles, will say Juan Barkley, and

6:12

so on. So that is kind of triamose in

6:14

a nutshell. It's a very reduced version

6:16

of triamels, but it kind of hopefully

6:18

will paint a little bit of a

6:20

picture of who the Washington commanders got

6:22

in the second round if you don't

6:25

already know who he is. And the thing that stood

6:27

out. the most when we got to talk to

6:29

added Peters at the end of the day was

6:31

the fact that he said that Trey Amos was

6:33

a player that had Josh Connorly Jr. not been

6:35

there at number 29 in the first round they

6:38

would have considered Trey Amos at that spot

6:40

now it sounded like he was a

6:42

player that they also would have considered

6:44

a trade back so not necessarily on

6:46

that list of players where if he's

6:48

there 29 we're going to take but

6:50

certainly on that list of players that

6:53

they wanted to consider in the first

6:55

round of possible so. if you want

6:57

to consider Trey Amos a potential first

6:59

round talent, a lot of the valuations,

7:01

a lot of the mock drafts leading

7:03

up to the NFL draft, I saw

7:05

somewhere he was going in the back

7:07

end of the first round, somewhere he

7:09

was going early in the second round, so

7:12

I think it's fair if you want to

7:14

call him a first round, you know,

7:16

area, target, type of potential player, certainly

7:18

to go there. And the fact that

7:21

he was our number two perimeter perimeter,

7:23

one of my favorite players in this

7:25

draft and I'm not going to lie

7:28

there's no chairing in the press box

7:30

but you can exclaim just a little

7:32

bit in the media workroom as long

7:35

as not disturbing other people and when

7:37

it came across the Trey Amos was

7:39

going to be the pick I definitely

7:42

celebrated just a little bit definitely

7:44

caught the attention couple other

7:46

media members like so you really like this

7:48

guy oh yes I really like Trey Amos

7:50

is about to be the pick and I

7:52

in my excitement didn't hit send by the

7:55

time I hit send on the message. ESPN or

7:57

NFL network had already announced it so it wasn't

7:59

really a spoiler anymore. But you know, a

8:01

little bit of excitement there. Certainly

8:03

expected him to be gone before

8:05

61. Now, if you caught up

8:07

with us on the W. U.S.

8:09

W. U.S. A 9 plus pre-draft show,

8:11

which I really appreciate those of you

8:13

who did a few insiders, I've been

8:16

texting me telling me that they thought

8:18

I was a really good show. So

8:20

I greatly appreciate that. First time I've

8:23

ever really been a part of one

8:25

of those types of things. So it

8:27

was a good experience. to list our

8:29

top three, top five players for day

8:31

two that we would target for the

8:33

Washington commanders. Now, if you again listen

8:35

to the yesterday's episode coming out around

8:37

one, Don Menezaraku, the edge rush route

8:39

of Boston College was my top prospect

8:41

that I targeted for the commanders on

8:44

day one. He was still on the

8:46

board at the end of day one,

8:48

so he was my top prospect coming

8:50

into day two, even though as much

8:52

as I didn't think he would probably

8:54

be available at 29, I definitely for

8:56

me and for us. Donovan as Iraq,

8:59

you've headed to the Dallas Cowboys. That's

9:01

going to be pretty rough. Running back,

9:03

Trebion Henderson was my number two guy,

9:05

Ohio State running back. He ends up

9:07

going to the New England Patriots before

9:09

the commanders get on the board. But

9:11

Trey Amos was my third guy on

9:13

that list today, out of all miss,

9:15

and he again is the pick. So

9:17

certainly, very, very excited from that. I

9:19

want to give you a little bit

9:21

of excerpt from the Beast, Dane Brugler.

9:23

The athletic. The athleticletic, Dan Bruegler. if

9:25

you never considered it. Dane gets a

9:27

lot of information and here's some of

9:29

the stuff that we got about Trey

9:32

Amos from Dane Bruegler's The Beast this

9:34

year. High school quarterback, which I think

9:36

is very interesting, played in high school

9:38

quarterback for a couple of years and

9:40

actually was a pretty good quarterback from

9:42

a production standpoint. Not telling you that

9:44

you should expect any wildcat quarterback packages

9:46

or anything like that in the NFL,

9:48

but it is interesting that he kind of

9:51

has that background there. He's another senior

9:53

ball player. Two senior bowl players so

9:55

far, Josh Connolly Jr. and Triamos,

9:57

both senior bowl players that make.

10:00

six out of Adam Peters

10:02

11 draft picks all coming

10:04

out of the senior bowl.

10:06

And if you go to last

10:08

year, I know, Mikey Sanders,

10:10

Bill, Ben, Senate, Brandon Coleman, all

10:12

day two, senior ball picks, that's

10:14

three out of six, day one

10:16

or two, day one or two,

10:18

day one or two, day one

10:20

or two, day one or two,

10:22

or two, day one or two,

10:24

two, day one or two, two,

10:26

day one or two, three. Amos

10:28

as an appetite for press by

10:30

like him best in zone cover

10:32

two cover three quarters where he

10:34

can trust his athletic instincts from

10:36

death to read and rally his

10:38

superior senior season convinced evaluators that he

10:41

is a pro starter similar in ways to

10:43

Paulson a debo and quote Paulson debo if

10:45

you don't know was a saints cornerback very

10:47

much on the rise injuries kind of derailed

10:49

his career unfortunately but certainly showed a lot

10:52

of potential finally Dan Bruegler projected him as

10:54

a second round pick train almost that is

10:56

at number 39 so whether you Look at

10:58

him as a late round, late first round

11:01

guy, early day two guy, number 39, you're

11:03

still getting him close to 25, 26 picks

11:05

after he probably should have come off the

11:07

board. That my friends in this business

11:09

is what we call a steel. Now

11:11

where does he fit? Where do I

11:14

project him? Peter's have to say about

11:16

where Trey almost is going to play

11:18

for the Washington commanders. That more coming

11:20

12:52

at the NFL draft episode here of

12:54

locked on commanders and we're looking at

12:56

Trey Amos obviously we're looking at some

12:58

other things as well but we're gonna

13:00

look at Trey Amos specifically and when

13:02

you look at the Washington Bears cornerback

13:04

group I think you have a pretty

13:07

nice group. pretty nice collection of players

13:09

here. Marshall and Latamore obviously is going

13:11

to be your veteran named that everybody

13:13

talks about. Mikey Sanders still, the second

13:15

year player showed a lot of maturity,

13:17

became a team leader in his first

13:19

year, his rookie season there with the

13:22

commanders, Trey Amos, the new season there

13:24

with the commanders, Trey Amos, the new

13:26

guy, obviously, about to come in, Jonathan

13:28

Jones, the veteran that came over this

13:30

off-season, and Bobby Price, kind of your

13:32

end of roster. type of guys. If

13:34

you want to break these guys up,

13:37

you know, looking at who are the

13:39

outside guys, who are the inside guys,

13:41

I think you're outside corners, Marshall and

13:43

Latamore, Treyamos. Jones can play out there,

13:45

Agmanogany can play out there, also inside,

13:47

Mikey Sanderstil, Jones and Eggmanogany also can

13:49

contribute inside. Marshall Latamore has played in

13:52

the slot as well, you know what

13:54

I mean? So what Adam Peters didn't

13:56

do, which, not really, didn't do, which

13:58

not really surprise you didn't do it

14:00

with Josh Connolly Jr. either, is pigeonhole

14:02

anybody into a position, right? So obviously

14:04

the question came up, what does this

14:07

mean for Mike a really good? amount

14:09

of cornerbacks that are going to go

14:11

out there and compete during OTAs, binner

14:13

and minicamps, train, camp, all that stuff

14:15

for roster spots and for not just

14:17

for us response, but depth chart and

14:19

play time and all those things. He'll

14:22

leave those to the coaches basically, right?

14:24

Then there was a follow-up question asked

14:26

about with Trey Amo specifically, do you

14:28

see him as more of an inside

14:30

guy or an outside guy? And Adam

14:32

said that he wouldn't put a past

14:34

Trey to be able to be able

14:37

to be able to be able to

14:39

play inside, but that. translates mostly to

14:41

the outside. And that's exactly where I

14:43

think he's gonna fit clearly again. He's

14:45

number two on our perimeter, cornerback, big

14:47

board. So obviously I think that he's

14:50

gonna be a perimeter guy, Marshall Latimore,

14:52

perimeter guy, certainly can play inside, has

14:54

played inside, but Mikey Sanders, so, you

14:56

know, is just kind of the best

14:58

suited guy to go inside. So I

15:00

think that's ultimately what will unfold. I

15:02

think all guys will get their opportunities.

15:05

wanting to stay outside or you want

15:07

to go back inside? Do you really

15:09

care? And I kind of expected him

15:11

just kind of say, hey, whatever they

15:13

need and truthfully, like wherever they need

15:15

Mikey to play, Mikey will play and

15:17

he'll do his best. But he did

15:20

say, I like playing outside. He enjoys

15:22

playing outside. He enjoys playing outside. He

15:24

enjoys playing outside from a business sense,

15:26

like, you know, I mean, a perimeter

15:28

lockdown corner is gonna get paid more

15:30

than a slot corner is. So it

15:32

makes a lot for a lot of

15:35

different for a lot of different reasons

15:37

for a lot of different reasons. So

15:39

don't expect Mikey Sanderson to come in

15:41

the trainee camp and just say, ah,

15:43

well, I guess we're going back inside.

15:45

We'll just leave it be. No, when

15:47

he gets his right. outside he's going

15:50

to try to go out there and

15:52

show the team that hey I'm one

15:54

of your best two outside cornerbacks you

15:56

need to lead me out here and

15:58

whether that means Marsha and Latamore goes

16:00

back inside maybe rotates off the field

16:02

here and there and stare tries to

16:05

say healthy he's been battling some injuries

16:07

here recently in his career so that'd

16:09

be a way to kind of keep

16:11

him healthy whether it's you know the

16:13

rookie train almost having to kind of

16:15

earn his rotation spots things like that

16:17

you know we'll see how outside Mike

16:20

he plays inside but I don't think

16:22

Mike is just gonna roll over and

16:24

say okay I guess I'm going back

16:26

inside and and just you know just

16:28

do that without any type of effort

16:30

to at least put himself on the

16:32

outside or keep himself on the outside

16:35

or keep himself on the outside. So

16:37

let's take a look ahead real quick

16:39

today three and we'll recap day two

16:41

afterwards I feel like we have some

16:43

some storylines to talk about from day

16:45

two but less those are less commander

16:47

specific specifics specific stuff here looking towards

16:50

day three. My top four, or I'm

16:52

going to go top four because the

16:54

fifth group, the fifth position is actually

16:56

a group of players. And I think

16:58

that a lot of commanders fans, like

17:00

a lot of us in general, people

17:02

looking at the commanders are doing this

17:05

weekend, are going to be interested in

17:07

this position group. But my top four

17:09

guys that are on the remaining board,

17:11

well I should say this is the

17:13

ESPN top remaining prospects that I like

17:15

for the commanders. Should they be available

17:17

at number 128? Washington Commander's next pick

17:20

in the fourth rounding is what 26

17:22

overall Houston Texans pick wide receiver Jaylin

17:24

Jaylin Lane at Virginia Tech. He's someone

17:26

that we talked about a couple times

17:28

but specifically in our pre-draft mailbag definitely

17:30

a receiver that would not mind seeing

17:32

the Washington commanders add to the mix.

17:35

Defense to tackle Joshua Farmer at a

17:37

Florida State's I know de tackle not

17:39

necessarily considered a big need you know

17:41

Johnny Newton to run painstaking solar roster

17:43

obviously. Jovan Ken Law is there, Sheldon

17:45

Day coming back, but they have a

17:48

good amount of deed tackles, but I

17:50

think the Joshua Farmer is certainly someone

17:52

worth considering for the commanders of the...

17:54

he's available there, number 128 overall. Running

17:56

back, Camp Scataboo, out of Arizona State,

17:58

you know, I'm the Sun Devil if

18:00

you're in every day or if you're

18:03

not in every day, just found out

18:05

that I'm the Sun Devil. This has

18:07

nothing to do with that, but he's

18:09

a good, tough inside runner. I think

18:11

he's a good, tough inside runner. I

18:13

think he's got a good, tough inside

18:15

runner. I think he's got a little

18:18

bit more, tough inside runner. I think

18:20

he's got a good, tough, tough inside

18:22

runner. I think he's got a little

18:24

bit, tough, tough, tough, inside runner. I

18:26

think he's got a little bit, tough,

18:28

tough, he's got a little bit, tough,

18:30

tough, tough, he's got a little, tough,

18:33

tough, tough, tough, he's got a little,

18:35

tough, tough, he's got a little, tough,

18:37

he's got a little, tough, tough, tough,

18:39

tough, tough, tough, he's got a little

18:41

running back Dylan Samson out of Tennessee,

18:43

another one that would be incredibly available

18:45

to consider. There are still some really

18:48

good running backs left in this class

18:50

to consider if you're the Washington commanders

18:52

and Adam Peter. So don't take your

18:54

eye off that. However, I think pretty

18:56

much everybody came into this draft with

18:58

Edge as the top need, right? And

19:00

you don't draft for a need, draft

19:03

best player available. But you know, there

19:05

were some good edges available in the

19:07

first round. So some decent ones available

19:09

in the second round and the watch

19:11

committee went away from edge both times.

19:13

Adam Peters reiterating again in his day

19:15

two post, you know, post day press

19:18

conference like look, round draft for me.

19:20

We're gonna take the top guy on

19:22

our board. They had some edges that

19:24

they liked in round two. They came

19:26

off the board. I have a feeling

19:28

that JT two and Molow out out

19:30

of Ohio State who went to the

19:33

Indianapolis Colts, probably one of those guys.

19:35

But, you know, that's just how the

19:37

board fell. So entering into day three.

19:39

I've got here six edge rushers that

19:41

are on the board still that I

19:43

think the Washington mayors could consider. First

19:45

one we're talking about Braden Swinson out

19:48

of LSU and then Jack Sawyer from

19:50

Ohio State and then Baron Sorrell out

19:52

of Texas. Now, Braden Swinson is ESPN.com's

19:54

top remaining edge rusher on their, you

19:56

know, quote unquote big board. I don't

19:58

know how they compile it, but that's

20:00

the big board that I used for

20:03

remaining players. And he's actually our number

20:05

two, past rushing edge russier. We did

20:07

a positional big board of just past

20:09

rushing edge rushers. guys that we thought

20:11

could be really good past rushers in

20:13

the NFL. And of the seven that

20:15

we ranked, Braden Swinson out of LSU,

20:18

ranked right up there at number two.

20:20

So commanders already went out and got

20:22

the number two corner on our list,

20:24

potentially he could fall down there and

20:26

they could go get the number two

20:28

edge rush. Now, I'm again, according to

20:31

ESPN, Braden Swinson is the top guy

20:33

left in that position group. So any

20:35

type of run on that position group,

20:37

he's likely gonna be off the board.

20:39

But you saw Jack Sawyer. who was

20:41

available from Ohio State. He was our

20:43

seventh guy. So, you know, in there

20:46

at the bottom, but still, you know,

20:48

one of the top guys to consider.

20:50

Jack Sawyer, not exactly the most dynamic

20:52

past rush, I wouldn't think, for in

20:54

my personal opinion, but certainly there are

20:56

also Beren't, South Carolina, Q. Robinson from

20:58

Alabama, Antoine, Powell, Ryland out of Virginia

21:01

Tech. Also players that we have talked

21:03

about, the biotech player, thanks to a

21:05

mailback question from one of our insiders

21:07

doing that. So that's kind of our

21:09

look at day three. You know, again,

21:11

I think Edge is going to be

21:13

a conversation, from one of our insiders

21:16

doing that. So that's kind of our

21:18

look at day three. You know, again,

21:20

I think Edge is going to be

21:22

good fits. You know, Kennard Robinson, Powell

21:24

Ryle, and also have their attractive traits

21:26

as well to keep an eye on.

21:28

So that's our day three preview. I

21:31

felt like that would be a more

21:33

interesting topic to talk about here in

21:35

the second segment. That's finished this episode

21:37

off, this bonus episode off by looking

21:39

back at some of the more notable

21:41

23:20

up today's episode of Locked On Commanders,

23:23

talking about day two of the NFL

23:25

draft, we broke down the Washington commanders

23:27

day two, draft pick number 61 overall.

23:29

We talked about Trey Amos, joining the

23:32

Washington commanders, who he is, what

23:34

he brings, where I think he's gonna fit

23:36

in, and then we also talked about some

23:38

day three, prospects, some options, and we're going

23:40

to hit the day two storylines of headlines

23:42

and headlines now, kind of look back at

23:45

what happened on day two of the NFL

23:47

draft. And we've got someone in the

23:49

live chat just specifically asked this,

23:51

asked if Adam Peters, said anything

23:53

to us about Chador Sanders. Look,

23:55

Washington managers don't need a quarterback.

23:57

Great that they don't need a quarterback.

24:00

because this quarterback class is

24:02

not great as it is. Shidor Sanders,

24:04

certainly one of the biggest names, but

24:06

he is the biggest name not selected

24:09

entering into day three. So Shidor Sanders,

24:11

who at one point scoffed at the

24:13

idea of being number six overall

24:15

pick, his father, Dion Sanders,

24:17

once sweeted out that his son was

24:20

about to be top five pick, not only

24:22

not a top six pick, is getting dangerously

24:24

close to not being a top

24:26

five round pick. at this point of

24:28

time. Adam Peters did not comment on

24:30

it. I don't expect Adam Peters to

24:33

comment on it, but we will comment

24:35

on it. This is a conversation that

24:37

everybody is having. Whether your team

24:40

needs a quarterback, doesn't need

24:42

a quarterback, and I think it's

24:44

a significant moment in NFL draft,

24:46

and I think it's a significant

24:49

moment in NFL draft history.

24:51

I don't want to make it too big.

24:53

It's going to change the way players are

24:56

drafted. For me, I've kind of maintained

24:58

and I'll be fully transparent. I

25:00

didn't like study five games of

25:02

Shoulders Sanders, you know, tape because

25:04

again, the Washington Bears don't need

25:06

him, aren't going to draft him. So

25:09

I'm not going to study him, right.

25:11

I'm not going to study him, right.

25:13

But I watched a good amount of

25:15

Colorado football. I've seen enough of Shooter

25:17

Sanders in his career to form an

25:19

opinion. My opinion on him was he

25:22

looked like about a second round quarterback.

25:24

He has a lead your franchise. But

25:26

there's also some downsides to him. He's

25:28

a little bit reckless with the

25:30

ball at times. He's got an arrogance

25:32

to him, an entitlement sense to him.

25:34

And again, those are all kind of

25:36

public sentiments, right? It's not something that

25:38

I know because I know sure, I've

25:40

never interviewed him, never met him, never

25:42

sat in a private room and had

25:45

a conversation with him. So there's a sort

25:47

of outside things. So for me, if you're

25:49

on board with my evaluation, then

25:51

he's a second round talent that has

25:53

fallen out of the third round.

25:55

So that's a significant slide from

25:57

where he was expected to go.

26:00

to where he is going. Charles Davis on an

26:02

NFL network made a comment saying you're

26:04

supposed to be drafted off your talents.

26:06

And I gotta say I'm a big fan of Charles

26:08

Davis and a big fan of a lot of

26:10

things that he says and he's a very

26:12

smart individual so I don't want to take

26:14

anything away from these very smart individuals so

26:16

I don't want to take anything away from

26:18

him but I gotta say this is probably the

26:21

most have ever disagreed with anything he

26:23

said because especially being a quarterback in

26:25

the National Football League is not just

26:27

about your brand. Quarterbacks in

26:29

today's NFL more than ever are the

26:31

face of the franchise. So you are the

26:33

Cleveland Browns or the Las

26:35

Vegas Raiders or the Washington

26:37

commanders. You represent that team. Your

26:40

image is attached to the image of

26:42

the franchise. So if your image is bad

26:44

or arrogance or entitled or any

26:46

of those things or combination of

26:48

them, that is the image you're going

26:51

to bestow on your franchise. So

26:53

now there's an equation here, right?

26:55

It's like the scales of justice.

26:57

How much does your image weigh down your talent?

26:59

The less talent you have, the more your image

27:01

has got to be cleaner. It's got to be more

27:03

professional. You know what I mean? It's got

27:05

to be more business-like. It's got to be

27:07

the type of presence that an NFL franchise

27:10

wants their team to be represented by. The

27:12

more talented you are, the more risqué you

27:14

can be with your personality and all

27:16

those things, right? So if you're a shooter

27:18

Sanders, and let's having this conversation with another

27:21

media member here in the media member here

27:23

in the media room. and they said they

27:25

thought he was a day three talents. So

27:27

you think he's a day three talent, then

27:29

how far is he really slipped? He's only

27:31

slid a little bit, right? So far now

27:34

we'll see if and when he gets drafted.

27:36

I've got some questions from insiders. Do

27:38

I think he go on drafted? I

27:40

don't think he's going to go on

27:43

drafted. No, I think somebody is going

27:45

to go and drafted, but there's definitely

27:47

a message being sent by

27:49

the National Football League, intentional

27:52

or not. But that message being like,

27:54

you're not talented enough to have

27:56

all this package. And what it

27:58

tells other players is your... So in the

28:00

Army, my previous career, we always had a

28:02

saying, do what your rank can handle. When

28:05

the NFL, your rank is basically your

28:07

talent level. Do what your talent level

28:09

can handle, right? Because you see

28:11

Travis Hunter go out there in a

28:13

bright pink suit dancing around, doing all this

28:15

other stuff. Nothing wrong with that. He's a

28:18

young kid. Great, greatest moment of his

28:20

life right now, especially his football life

28:22

right now, but he's enjoying it. He's

28:24

soaking in the atmosphere. But the reputation

28:26

of him. You know, outside of that

28:28

is not arrogance. It's not entitlement.

28:30

It's not any of those things.

28:32

It's talented football player who works

28:35

really hard, grinds really hard, and

28:37

wants to do as much as

28:39

he can for his team. And he's

28:41

out here and joined the heck out

28:43

of this moment because it's a moment

28:46

to be enjoyed. Shader Sanders, the

28:48

image is a lot different. And

28:50

part of the matter is if

28:52

you're going to draft Shador Sanders.

28:54

and you don't think he has a

28:56

talent to be your starter day one, you

28:58

now have to wonder is Dion Sanders,

29:00

who has the attention of pretty

29:02

much everybody around him when

29:05

he talks, going to be someone who

29:07

comes out and criticizes you, your

29:09

coach, your owner, your franchise, the

29:11

league, for not starting his song. You

29:13

know what I mean? And if and when that

29:15

were to happen, let's be real. It

29:17

could be the dumbest thing ever. Everybody

29:20

could sit here and say. No reason

29:22

X team should be starting to

29:24

share Sanders over that quarterback.

29:26

But because Dion said it, it's

29:28

going to go viral. So you talked

29:31

about the coach is going to get

29:33

asked about it. The star receiver is

29:35

going to get asked about it. The

29:37

linebacker coach is going to get

29:39

asked about it. You're not worth

29:41

it. The linebacker coach is going

29:44

to get asked about it, right? At

29:46

least through the first three rounds.

29:48

Maybe you'll be worth. drafting you

29:50

in the fourth round of everything that comes with

29:52

it. Maybe the fifth, maybe the sixth. Again, I

29:54

don't see him going undrafted, but there is a

29:57

message coming through here. That message got sent

29:59

very, very loud. Some of these other

30:01

quarterbacks, Tyler Shook, you know what

30:03

I mean? Even Jaylyn Millrow, things

30:05

like that. I told you guys,

30:07

Jaylyn Millrow was my second favorite

30:09

quarterback in this class. Not Sugar

30:11

Sanders, Jaylyn Millrow was my

30:14

second favorite guy. But, and this is

30:16

no disrespect to this young man. I

30:18

hope he has a very successful career,

30:20

but Dylan Gabriel, out of Oregon,

30:22

going to Cleveland Browns. That was

30:25

the point. That was the line where the NFL

30:27

basically drew and said, everything.

30:29

Jaylon Millrow, maybe they just think that

30:31

guy Tyler Shug is better than Shitter

30:33

Sanders. Okay, I can see that. I can

30:36

see that in the evaluation. Bill and

30:38

Gabriel, though, is where is the

30:40

first quarterback that came off the board

30:42

that's clearly not as talented as Shitter

30:44

Sanders. That is the first corporate that came

30:46

off the board that said this is not

30:48

about you as a player. This is about

30:50

you as a person, a fit in the

30:53

organization, and a representation of our

30:55

franchise. That was the moment right there. I

30:57

think it's great. I think that these

30:59

players have been a blow across the

31:01

ballot, like NIL kids, you know what

31:03

I mean? There's been a lot

31:06

of conversations out there about how

31:08

does the scouting, how does the

31:10

evaluation process, how does the

31:12

drafting, how does the evaluation

31:15

process, how does the drafting process

31:17

change with NIL and, you know,

31:19

kids getting money now, I mean,

31:21

kids are signing a million dollar deals,

31:23

you know, and in college right now.

31:26

I think this is kind of a sign

31:28

though, like, as much as college

31:30

players might be able to earn,

31:32

as much as your popularity might

31:34

be able to grow. And I

31:36

know that Shidoor, a lot of

31:39

his popularity and money doesn't

31:41

come from that. It comes from

31:43

being Deion Sanders son, but

31:45

the message I think still

31:47

resonates, don't ever think that

31:49

you're too accomplished, too viral,

31:52

to Trump and NFL franchise

31:54

admission. because especially as

31:57

a quarterback. Right now if Shidore

31:59

Sanders was. a third round talent corner

32:01

doing all this stuff and all

32:03

this other, all this other stuff

32:05

and maybe a little arrogance to

32:07

him, maybe had a little me

32:10

first to him, he'd probably still

32:12

go in the third round, maybe early

32:14

fourth. But a third round quarterback

32:16

with all these, all this baggage

32:18

and Dion Sanders as your father,

32:20

the ball conversation, the bar

32:22

ball and Lonzo ball and all those

32:25

guys, that part of the conversation

32:27

comes up with those players. those

32:29

guys could ball. Those guys were

32:31

were doing good things, right? So

32:33

I think that's the big thing.

32:35

Um, going to the draft picks,

32:37

though, the Houston Texans were very

32:39

interesting to me. I was state

32:41

receiver Jayden Higgins was one of

32:43

my favorite guys. I always state

32:45

receiver Jayden Higgins was one of

32:47

my favorite guys. I always state receiver

32:49

Jay Lynn Dole was one of my

32:52

favorite guys. One of my favorite guys,

32:54

they got both of them. So

32:56

I think that was kind of

32:58

the most non-commanders intriguing thing for

33:00

me was watching the Houston Texans

33:03

take not one but both to

33:05

Iowa state receivers on day two

33:07

of the NFL draft. All right

33:09

that's gonna wrap up our conversation

33:11

here from day two of the

33:13

NFL draft. All right that's gonna

33:15

wrap up our conversation here from

33:17

day two of the NFL draft

33:19

Ashburn, Virginia. We will be back

33:21

out here noon eastern Sunday. We're

33:23

33:28

33:30

I don't know. We'll see how that

33:32

kind of day unfolds. But in the

33:34

meantime, hopefully you guys are enjoying the

33:36

draft. Hopefully you guys are enjoying the

33:38

picks that are being made. Even if

33:40

you don't agree with all of them

33:42

or both of them, hopefully you'll

33:44

see the path in the pattern and give

33:46

AP what I believe is his benefit of

33:48

the doubt that he's earned. after his

33:50

first year. We will be back for
