1:40

to Mugglecast, where we go chapter

1:42

by chapter through the Harry Potter

1:44

books and keep you updated on

1:46

the forthcoming Harry Potter TV show.

1:48

We are your Harry Potter friends

1:50

and your weekly ride into the

1:52

fandom. I'm Andrew. I'm Eric. I'm

1:54

Michael. And this week, put on

1:56

your ballet shoes and meet us

1:58

on the seventh floor of Hogwarts

2:01

because we're discussing order. the Phoenix

2:03

Chapter 18 Dumbledores Army. And to

2:05

help us with this week's discussion,

2:07

we're joined by our podcasting partner,

2:09

Pam. Podcasting partner, Pam. Welcome back,

2:11

Pam. Loving that alliteration. Co-host

2:13

of What the Hype and Millennium. Nice

2:16

to have you back on the show

2:18

to talk Harry Potter with us. Nice

2:20

to be back with you all. I consider

2:22

Pan the biggest Harry Potter fan

2:24

out of the five muggle casters

2:26

for including Pan because she has

2:28

the most different editions of the Harry

2:30

Potter books. Bring this up every once in

2:32

a while. Listeners as we continue

2:34

to analyze the books and cover

2:37

the Harry Potter TV show we

2:39

would really appreciate your support at

2:41

patreon.com/muggle cast by becoming a muggle

2:43

cast member you're helping us conjure

2:46

up episodes of this indie podcast.

2:48

and in exchange for your support

2:50

we offer you instant access to

2:52

lots of great benefits like more

2:55

muggle cast. We release two bonus

2:57

muggle cast episodes every month on

2:59

our patron and in these we

3:01

have fun talking about different aspects

3:03

of the Potter fandom outside of

3:06

chapter by chapter and in a

3:08

bonus episode coming this week I

3:10

am very proud to present my

3:12

episode by episode plan for the

3:14

Harry Potter TV show. Wow. As a

3:16

teaser for my episode one pitch. Let

3:18

me tell you all right now, it's

3:20

going to instantly win over longtime Harry

3:23

Potter fans because it's going to

3:25

be very different from how the movies

3:27

open. And it's just going to prove

3:29

to us that they had good reason

3:31

to do the Harry Potter TV series.

3:33

I would sign up for bonus muggle

3:36

cast just for that pitch alone. Right,

3:38

right? This is going to, this could be

3:40

a long bonus muggle cast. I'm going to

3:42

try. Not to make it a long one,

3:44

but it's part of you to put it behind

3:46

the paywall too because you don't want to work

3:48

for free. Yeah, I don't want one of these

3:50

stealing this. That's a great point. I think it

3:53

would be a fantastic idea if this goes the

3:55

length of let's say to bonus muggle cast, then

3:57

I don't have to plan one for later in

3:59

the month. It's true, sometimes they do

4:01

double duty. Listeners, be sure to

4:03

check that out. And after you

4:06

pledge to our patron, you can

4:08

actually listen to bonus muggle cast

4:10

episodes and add free episodes of

4:12

muggle cast right within your favorite

4:15

podcast app. So it's very easy

4:17

to enjoy this bonus content, just

4:19

like you do, regular muggle cast.

4:21

All right. Now it's time for

4:23

chapter by chapter. This week we're

4:25

discussing order of the Phoenix chapter

4:27

18, Dumbledores Army. Cracking

4:30

on the horizon, everybody.

4:32

Some much-needed hope? Some

4:34

much-needed hope. We

4:36

last discussed Chapter 18 on

4:38

episode 454 of Muggle Cast.

4:41

It was titled, Drinky Winky.

4:43

Gee, I wonder why. That

4:45

might be my favorite episode

4:47

titled, ever. Drinky, Winky, Tipsy,

4:50

Lala, Po, Talatobbies. God, and

4:52

Po. Well, here is a fun

4:54

little clip from that episode. Three

4:56

times, should do it, I think.

4:59

I was wondering has

5:01

anyone ever been

5:03

guilty of encouraging

5:05

someone to do something

5:07

so you could live

5:10

vicariously through them I

5:12

always think of like

5:14

gambling it's a lot

5:16

of fun to watch

5:18

people gamble because it's not

5:21

your money. And then once you start

5:23

playing, you're like, oh, never mind. I

5:25

have provided that service for others who

5:27

are I gambled and lose money for

5:29

their entertainment. Yes, I have done it.

5:31

I'm not going to Vegas with you,

5:33

Andrew. This is a red flag right

5:35

away. You're going to have Be on

5:37

the roulette table. Yep. Let me watch

5:40

you play. You're just going to want

5:42

to like put the little chips on

5:44

the word for me and then hope

5:46

for the best. mysterious

5:48

thing time did you pick that

5:50

clip Eric because I now live

5:53

in Vegas there were several reasons

5:55

for picking that clip but yes

5:57

that's probably one of them I'm

5:59

wondering Andrew, tell us, are you

6:01

still up to no good with that?

6:03

Are you still encouraging others to gamble?

6:06

Maybe not encourage others to gamble, but

6:08

I still prefer to live vicariously through

6:10

others and watch them gamble rather than

6:12

play myself. This isn't your favorite

6:14

phrase, you got a bet big to

6:17

win big? Yeah, that's true. That's very

6:19

enabling. That's very coercive. Yeah. Oh man. I

6:21

want to see a Harry Potter slot

6:24

machine. That hasn't happened yet. Oh, I'm

6:26

sure it's somewhere at the MGM. Okay, I'll

6:28

get looking. I feel like it's got

6:30

to be somewhere. Yeah. That's the one

6:32

thing we didn't do when I was

6:34

in Vegas. Andrew, we didn't go to

6:36

any casinos. When you're a local,

6:38

you don't play. I mean, I would have

6:41

happily taken you though. I think I was

6:43

coming from a hotel that had plenty

6:45

of slot machines in there if I

6:47

really wanted to, but it was a

6:49

work trip so you know you try

6:52

not to dabble in that.

6:54

Always stay a few thousand

6:56

dollars behind your boss, that's

6:58

the rule. But anyway, I

7:00

mentioned this chapter has some

7:02

hope to offer us, however

7:04

not right away. Unfortunately, we

7:06

have a lot of indecisiveness

7:09

on the part of the

7:11

trio and Hermione in particular.

7:13

So she is now convinced

7:15

that Hedwig was intercepted by

7:17

umbrage and that it's been

7:19

basically a whole like false

7:21

pretense to come up with

7:23

a lie about dung bombs

7:26

so that filch could get.

7:28

at Harry's correspondence, which is

7:30

a huge violation. And of

7:32

course, it's under the guise

7:34

of keeping the school safe,

7:36

secure, but what bothers me

7:38

about it is Umbrage is very

7:40

much a character that does not

7:43

act in good faith. And she

7:45

will really roll out all the

7:47

tricks she has in order to

7:49

do something that is illegal or

7:51

very heavily not aboveboard. Yeah, well,

7:54

and this reminds me of how

7:56

here in the muggle world, post

7:58

9-11 we have the Patriot Act

8:01

in which it became easier for the

8:03

government to start tapping our phones. And

8:05

there was reason for it, but it

8:07

also made a lot of people rightly

8:10

uncomfortable that it suddenly became easier for

8:12

us to be surveilled. The thing about

8:14

this situation in the book is that

8:17

Umbridge has a false pretense, whereas that

8:19

one in the muggle world was more

8:21

justified, maybe not entirely so though. Yes,

8:24

it's a real invasion of privacy in

8:26

general, but it's done under... some level

8:29

of justification. Yeah, and I

8:31

wanted to look this up because

8:33

I remember when growing up,

8:35

I would always hear, don't open

8:37

somebody else's mail. It's illegal. And

8:40

it turns out that it is

8:42

true here in the US that

8:45

opening up somebody else's mail is

8:47

a federal crime. It's called obstruction

8:49

of correspondence. And it's a serious

8:52

felony that could lead to you

8:54

ending up in jail. And so I

8:56

figure if you layer on animal

8:58

cruelty to this? Yeah. Umbridge

9:01

is really getting herself into

9:03

some hot water if she were to

9:06

be caught for doing any of these

9:08

things, but I did want to

9:10

ask, is there any kind of

9:12

similar crime in the UK? I

9:14

looked into this for you,

9:16

Micah, and actually, yes, it

9:19

is also... illegal over there

9:21

under the Postal Services Act

9:24

of 2000, specifically section 84

9:26

of the act makes it

9:29

an offense to intentionally delay

9:31

open or interfere with someone

9:34

else's mail without reasonable excuse.

9:36

So actually intentionally delay mail? Didn't Dabi

9:39

do that in an earlier book? Oh!

9:41

Ah, you're a good lawyer for Dobby.

9:43

It wasn't illegal in 1992. Maybe they

9:45

were reading the Harry Potter books and

9:48

they were like, wait, that doesn't sound

9:50

right, we need to make this illegal.

9:52

I wonder if this same right that

9:54

extends to school children at like a

9:57

private school or if that would be

9:59

another loophole. where they would say for

10:01

the safety of everyone involved we have

10:03

to like reserve the right to check

10:06

correspondence could extend that to the

10:08

Dursleys as well feel like we've talked

10:10

a little bit about the fact that

10:12

they were keeping Harry's mail from him

10:14

right yeah yeah wow I mean he was ripping

10:16

it up right uncle uncle Vernon

10:18

not necessarily opening it technically so

10:20

maybe that's how he'd get off

10:22

but also just delaying Harry from being

10:25

able to open it by trying to

10:27

hide them and rip them up But I

10:29

will say I love that

10:31

we found this connective thread

10:33

for the Dursley's Dabi and

10:35

Umbridge. They're all very much

10:38

headed to the slumber. The

10:40

unexpected connection between Dabi and

10:42

Umbridge. Yeah, so we have all of

10:44

this evidence now that, or it

10:47

seems like evidence that Umbridge is

10:49

committing these wrongs against the students

10:51

and yet this group that they're

10:54

building in order to kind of

10:56

combat this stuff. is currently giving

10:58

Hermione second thought. She actually has

11:00

regret. She asks them, are we

11:03

doing the right thing? And there's

11:05

a funny moment with Ron, where

11:07

he's kind of exasperated about, he's

11:10

like, this was your idea, Hermione?

11:12

But it's just clear to me

11:14

that stuff is really getting real,

11:17

and Hermione is feeling two things

11:19

that she is, which is young

11:21

and vulnerable, and like a student.

11:23

So she really feels powerless to

11:25

affect any kind of change

11:27

on a scale that's going to

11:30

make it worth it, given their

11:32

sacrifice. Well, it's one thing too

11:34

to be responsible for yourself and

11:37

for maybe your two

11:39

best friends, since, you know, they,

11:41

it's like an unspoken thing that...

11:43

the trio are in it together. But

11:46

it's another thing to be responsible for

11:48

25 other students, right? And I think

11:50

that's where she starts to get cold

11:52

feet because it's not necessarily by doing

11:54

the right thing, it's by doing right

11:57

by those people that didn't maybe necessarily

11:59

understand. what they were signing up

12:01

for in terms of like basing the

12:03

wrath. Yeah, I think the size of

12:05

the group is daunting, but I think

12:08

this is normal for most of us

12:10

when we're embarking on something new and

12:12

certainly something that might be a

12:14

little risky. So I think Hermione's

12:17

grappling with several things here and

12:19

it's a good lesson for readers

12:21

seeing somebody experience this doubt. Hermione

12:24

tends to be a pretty brave

12:26

person and for her to hit

12:28

this wall is. is a good

12:30

bit of character development. Yeah, it's the

12:33

weight of consequence too because she

12:35

doesn't know what's going to happen

12:37

and certainly if they're caught they could

12:39

get in a lot of trouble and

12:41

that's not something that I think she's

12:44

really prepared for. It's one thing

12:46

to get in trouble with Dumboldor,

12:48

it's another thing to get in

12:50

trouble with the ministry. Right. The

12:52

big scary police. The popo. Yeah,

12:54

that's that's that's a good point.

12:56

I mean, I think though from

12:58

a... Reader's perspective, especially because we've

13:00

read this book before, we know

13:02

that Dumbledore's army does create positive

13:05

change for everyone. We know it's

13:07

a good thing, it's adding value.

13:09

The characters at this stage can't

13:11

possibly know that. They won't even

13:13

have the first lesson until the

13:15

back half of this chapter. But

13:17

knowing that it is such a

13:19

force for positive change, you know,

13:21

like, and tracking that. I feel like

13:24

it's nothing short of the spells

13:26

they learn in this year, end

13:28

up saving those kids' lives

13:30

two years out, like in

13:32

the Battle of Hogwarts is

13:35

coming. And we see, I

13:37

believe, a lot of the

13:39

students using those types of

13:41

spells that they got during

13:43

the DA to survive during

13:46

Voldemort's assault on Hogwarts. So

13:48

it's... I guess heartening or

13:50

actually harrowing sad for to

13:52

see her money so uncertain

13:54

because she single-handedly, you know, with

13:57

the help of Harry and Ron,

13:59

have created that's gonna really matter

14:01

to people. They just don't know

14:03

it yet. Yeah. But they do know

14:05

it even by the end of

14:07

the chapter. The chapter ends with

14:10

Hermione saying to Harry, that was

14:12

really, really good, Harry. And Ron

14:14

backs her up, says, yeah, it

14:16

was enthusiastically. They're experiencing that successful

14:18

relief, maybe you can call it,

14:21

at the end of this chapter,

14:23

after the first meeting, that, you

14:25

know, they're over that, they're over

14:27

the hill. they're over the fear

14:29

of putting together this group and

14:32

they can see the effects and

14:34

like Eric you're saying in time

14:36

they'll look back and be even

14:38

more proud that they did decide

14:41

to go through with this despite

14:43

that initial fear is there a

14:45

moral lesson here as far as

14:47

like conquer your fears don't give

14:49

up you're doing the right thing

14:52

I think you could actually probably

14:54

link it back to what

14:56

is it? And what book did

14:58

Dumbledore say that we must all face

15:00

the choice between doing what is right

15:02

and what is easy? So she's, you

15:05

know, doing the right thing, but it's

15:07

not easy for her to go through with

15:09

it. Yeah. There's definitely a

15:11

gobble to fire. Antismatory anxiety

15:14

going on. Yeah. Now, something that I think

15:16

is a low blow is either Harry calls

15:18

her money out on it or she outright

15:20

says it that serious is a

15:22

huge reason why she's having second

15:25

doubts. Yeah, because he's a reckless

15:27

godfather. I can barely talk

15:29

about this. It hurts so

15:31

bad. But, you know, just

15:33

because he is feeling useless

15:35

and stuck at his home

15:38

does not mean that wanting

15:40

to do something to oppose the

15:42

ministry is a bad plan,

15:44

right? Like, they've gotten this

15:47

far because they see the

15:49

need. So yeah, you can

15:51

question someone's motives, but... Don't

15:53

just assume that because they want what

15:56

you want that what you want is

15:58

wrong Mm-hmm. It's great point With

16:00

her mindy though, would she expect

16:02

any different from Sirius? This

16:04

is right up his alley. Yeah,

16:06

she should have anticipated

16:08

this or not been surprised

16:11

by this. Crackpot theory, Sirius

16:13

was actually trying to do

16:15

some reverse psychology here. He

16:18

actually didn't want them to do

16:20

this, but said he loves the

16:22

idea just to screw with Hermione

16:24

and get her to doubt herself.

16:26

I love that head cannon. That

16:28

works for me. I just think too,

16:31

like, she's seen the slow decline of

16:33

just how reckless is in because even

16:35

if you look back to Sirius's advice

16:37

to Harry in Goblet of Fire, he's

16:39

the one that's telling Harry not

16:42

to do anything rash. Don't, you know,

16:44

just, like, think about what you're

16:46

going to do before you actually

16:48

do it. And that's like big

16:50

juxtaposition of going from that to

16:52

going from you know, him trying

16:54

to a carry on and being

16:56

like, oh, the risk is what

16:59

would have been fun for your

17:01

father. You know, that's kind of

17:03

like a slap in the face. I

17:05

don't think, I think Hermione, she

17:07

sees it more. And I think

17:09

that like, I rereading this for

17:11

the purposes of this show through

17:13

like an adult lens. I see why

17:16

she is worried about that. But

17:18

you know, as a teenager. I read this

17:20

and I was like, yeah, why are you being

17:22

so mean to serious? Like, I get it, you

17:24

know. That's just a problem. I'm

17:26

still in my teenage mental state

17:28

going, why is everyone hating on

17:30

serious? That's my take away, is

17:33

calling you a teen. Yeah, yeah,

17:35

which, hey, whatever. She made petulance.

17:37

Perhaps that Hermione is reacting less

17:39

to serious and more to Molly and

17:41

the message that serious. gives the

17:43

trio from Molly, specifically to Ron, but

17:45

I'm sure Hermione doesn't want to be

17:47

in a position where she feels like

17:49

she's disappointing Mrs. Weasley. Yeah, she's going

17:51

to have to see Molly again, Mrs.

17:53

Weasley again. So yeah, I think that

17:56

gives her some pause, though Hermione does

17:58

just straight up say in this. that

18:00

it is serious who's giving

18:02

her pause. But it's probably

18:04

both forces. It's disappointing

18:07

her best friend's mom, who she

18:09

is going to have to see

18:11

again at some point, and

18:13

serious encouraging this devious behavior.

18:16

We just carry a lot more burden

18:18

than we realize, I think,

18:20

and this argument specifically is

18:23

making me realize that she

18:25

probably worries more than Harry

18:27

and Ron combined. and it weighs on

18:30

her. Yeah, and she was responsible for

18:32

this idea. I mean, she and Ron

18:34

pitched it to Harry. So if they

18:36

did get in serious trouble, this was

18:39

her fault. This wasn't Harry's fault.

18:41

That's a fair point. They all

18:43

agree though, so an equal responsibility.

18:46

Her idea, but they're co-conspirators.

18:48

I did think a

18:50

little bit about this though

18:52

and how her mind is

18:54

still very much. puts trust

18:56

in authority figures, but gets

18:58

very apprehensive around advice from

19:00

those she considers to be

19:02

more reckless in nature. And

19:04

it's not just serious in

19:06

this chapter. We see it

19:08

a little bit later on

19:10

with Dabi, and it's only

19:12

when Harry validates the room

19:14

of requirement via Dumboldor, that

19:16

Hermione relaxes. But I thought to myself,

19:19

let's not forget if the

19:21

order knows about Dumboldor's army.

19:23

via Mundungus. Dumboldor knows about

19:26

Dumboldor's army and he's not

19:28

stopping it so Hermione should

19:30

feel validated in her initial

19:33

decision. The fact that Dumboldor

19:35

has a really good point. Yeah,

19:37

that's some big brain thinking. I love

19:39

that. That's a really good point. It's

19:42

too bad. Nobody said that to her,

19:44

but oh well. Yeah. So one of

19:46

the things that happens like right at

19:48

the middle of the chapter is that

19:50

Harry Scarar hurts and... I think, you

19:52

know, when they're going back and forth,

19:54

if you split this chapter in halves,

19:56

the first half is, did we do

19:59

the right thing? second half is

20:01

hell yeah we did the right thing but

20:03

right at the middle Harry Scarhertz

20:05

and I think this was really

20:07

poignant because it showcases what the

20:10

threat is it reminds readers just

20:12

been a little while since we've

20:14

you know gotten this level of

20:17

of inside and of Baltimore and

20:19

just kind of reminds the audience

20:21

what's at stake maybe I think

20:24

it's yeah why why they are assembling

20:26

this group Yeah, ultimately, it's

20:28

easy to get hung up on this

20:30

whole umbrage crap, but, you

20:33

know, the real bad guy is out there.

20:35

Yeah. Arianne says, Hermione is

20:37

so used to following slash

20:39

trusting authority, don't we all

20:41

have massive doubts when we

20:43

break out of our norm?

20:45

Yeah. And when we do,

20:47

when we do break out of that

20:49

shell, and then we crush it.

20:51

like we see by the end of

20:54

this chapter, Hermione's very pleased with how

20:56

it went, you just feel elated. You're like,

20:58

I got over that hill, I broke out

21:00

of my comfort zone, and this is going

21:02

to pay off. I think that's part

21:05

of growing up to your point, and

21:07

this is not intended as a hit

21:09

piece on Hermione, though she should be

21:11

nicer to serious. You're not going to

21:13

be alive very much longer, so I

21:16

feel confident saying that. But... For nothing

21:18

else for her cat. who loves Sirius.

21:20

Yeah. Yeah. Think of Crookshanks, Hermione. You

21:22

know, I mean, some people put

21:24

a lot of weight in your

21:26

animal loving another human. I

21:29

know somebody who's always like,

21:31

oh, my dog loves this

21:34

person. Good judge a character.

21:36

So Hermione should be looking

21:38

towards Crookshanks and trust me.

21:40

Crookshanks was after Wormtail

21:43

before they do. He was

21:45

wormtail. Yeah. It's a fair point

21:47

also although I'm debating whether to

21:49

say this because it undercuts the

21:51

serious you get more trust argument

21:54

but like as far as a cat goes

43:24

So a couple of odds and

43:27

ends that picked up on from

43:29

this chapter, Fred and George, they

43:31

continue to test their products out

43:33

on themselves. We've talked a lot

43:35

about Fred and George throughout the

43:37

course of this book and the

43:39

fact that they are not meant

43:42

for Hogwarts for very much longer.

43:44

Hermite throws a lot of shade

43:46

their way unfairly, but they're pushing

43:48

ahead. And their butts aren't meant

43:50

for brooms right now because they

43:52

got some lumps on them they

43:54

said. Ugh. It's like every chapter

43:57

has a little bit more of...

43:59

information that we don't want to

44:01

hear about in terms of the

44:03

things that these two are experiencing.

44:05

But look, if you're going to

44:07

open up a joke shop and

44:09

create all these very cool different

44:12

things that students can use to

44:14

presumably get out of class, you

44:16

know, good on you for testing

44:18

them out on yourself first. Yeah.

44:20

And then we need to give

44:22

some kudos to Ginny because she

44:25

is the one who names double

44:27

doors army. You know, I wasn't

44:29

going to bring this up. I'm

44:31

so glad that you did. This

44:33

makes Eric feel better after her

44:35

mind is rough comments on serious

44:37

earlier. Yeah, but I really think

44:40

it's a group effort. Yes, Ginny's

44:42

the one that like altars DA

44:44

to mean double doors army, but

44:46

it's really their lobbying or volleying

44:48

ideas. And that's ultimately something they

44:50

can all be proud of is

44:52

that they come up with this

44:55

title together. It's symbolic of the

44:57

work they're going to be doing

44:59

together this year. Yeah. And of

45:01

course it tees up later on

45:03

when Dumbledore takes the blame for

45:05

Dumbledore's army. Well it's such a

45:07

good name that now we're going

45:10

to change it. Yes, of course.

45:12

So what is the best alternate

45:14

name for the DA? Ander? Expeliani!

45:16

That's so adorable. I really like

45:18

that actually. Thanks. That gets my

45:20

vote. Yeah, mine too. I went

45:22

for Basic Fight Club. Well, that

45:25

works because you don't talk about

45:27

Fight Club. That's right. Yeah. For

45:29

any kids who haven't seen that

45:31

movie. Have you actually seen Fight

45:33

Club, Andrew? I have, believe it

45:35

or not. I can't believe that's

45:38

one of the five movies you've

45:40

seen. I went with pot heads.

45:42

Like, uh, short for Potter. Pot

45:44

heads? That used to be a

45:46

name, well not pot heads, but

45:48

remember when the media always used

45:50

to call Harry Potter fans. Potter

45:53

heads. Potter heads. Yeah, I never

45:55

liked that. Yeah. I had a

45:57

soft spot for it. Oh. And

45:59

Pam, did you have an alternate

46:01

name? I did. I didn't write

46:03

it down, but I think I

46:05

would have gone with a junior

46:08

order, but then I realized that

46:10

they're not supposed to talk about

46:12

the order either. Oh, the great.

46:14

Um, bridge is like, where's the

46:16

senior order? Oh my God. Hilarious.

46:18

Okay, well, finally, let's get over

46:20

to our links line answers. And

46:23

again, the question this week was,

46:25

obviously, Dobby needs the room of

46:27

requirement to help Winky out, but

46:29

what do the other house elves

46:31

use the room of requirement for

46:33

if they do? And I think

46:35

we'll go in host order. Rachel

46:38

said, I really want to think

46:40

of the elves using it for

46:42

something fun or restorative, but with

46:44

the exception of Dobby, they're so

46:46

work-driven. I can see it being

46:48

a spot to grab extra cleaning

46:51

supplies or reference books for new

46:53

recipes or home care, maybe a

46:55

place for elf medicines or a

46:57

quarantine too, since I can't imagine

46:59

house elves in the hospital wing,

47:01

though that should totally be a

47:03

thing. I like that. Carly says

47:06

elf library books about anything they

47:08

might care about how to books

47:10

on home maintenance Fairy tales where

47:12

the elves are the protagonists Oh

47:14

cookbooks history books of elf history

47:16

even raunchy elf romanticy oh Not

47:18

gonna be unthinking that anytime soon

47:21

next one is from Xavier who

47:23

says my guess is that they

47:25

don't just use it for one

47:27

thing need cleaning supplies boom cover

47:29

it where to put wizard trash

47:31

Boom, Elphish garbage dump. Need to

47:33

let off some steam because your

47:36

masters are the malfoys. Boom, room

47:38

full of oven doors and fire

47:40

poakers to hit yourself in your

47:42

heart's content. Sick elf, boom, Elphish

47:44

hospital wing fully equipped with magical

47:46

ailments for elves, which is the

47:49

name of her mind. He's new

47:51

magical ailments for elves. This is

47:53

my last link's line. My membership

47:55

expires tomorrow by muggle cast. Thank

47:57

you Xavier. Xavier went boom. This

47:59

one's from Jen O.G. who says

48:01

the Hellselves work hard and use

48:04

the room requirement to relax by

48:06

recreating the heiress tour every night.

48:08

The All Take Turns being the

48:10

star of the show, although nobody

48:12

can outshine Dobby's reputation era. Wow.

48:14

I love how creative that is.

48:16

Pam's a huge Taylor fan and

48:19

honest to goodness I did not.

48:21

Did she put this in for

48:23

me? Yeah, but I didn't intend

48:25

for you to read it. That

48:27

just happened. The order it got

48:29

placed and that's funny to me.

48:31

Paula said magical movie night. I

48:34

like to think they get a

48:36

break from their hard work and

48:38

they use their magic to create

48:40

beautiful shows. Oh like live feeder.

48:42

There's popcorn candy and no need

48:44

for bathroom breaks as this room.

48:46

Where else does wizard trash go?

48:49

The room for requirement, of course.

48:51

Oh, that makes me sad to

48:53

think the house elves are just

48:55

using it as a dump instead

48:57

of a place to put on

48:59

live performances of Shrek the musical.

49:02

Cassandra said, since we never see

49:04

any food deliveries at Hogwarts, maybe

49:06

this room becomes an enormous farmers

49:08

market run by agricultural elves. It's

49:10

really creative. And Jeff says Hermione's

49:12

got it all wrong. The house

49:14

elves aren't laboring all day in

49:17

the kitchen. They're actually sneaking off

49:19

to the remove requirement to pick

49:21

up pre-made meals and pretending like

49:23

they cooked it themselves. Oh, wow.

49:25

That's a scandal. It's DeGorno. It's

49:27

not food cooked by the house

49:29

elves. It's Factor Meals. A muggo

49:32

cast sponsor. Zachary said, it's where

49:34

they go for a nice stiff

49:36

one after our hard days, nights,

49:38

work. It's their home away from

49:40

home, away from their condo barrels

49:42

in the kitchen. That's a cute,

49:44

that's a cute edition from Hogwarts

49:47

Legacy. Yes, yeah. A place where

49:49

they can lounge on the beanies

49:51

from Hermione that Dobby can't fit

49:53

on his head and discuss all

49:55

the hot goss surrounding the castle.

49:57

Oh, Hal'selves are total gossip queens.

49:59

I had thought about that until

50:02

now. They definitely know everything that's

50:04

going on in the castle. And

50:06

they're big years. They're hearing so

50:08

much happening. And we know they

50:10

throw some shade. Max that. Max

50:12

that. We also

50:14

receive many other responses including several

50:17

others that thinks that house elves

50:19

simply use it as a place

50:21

to relax or blow off some

50:24

steam I do like that this

50:26

idea that the house elves are

50:29

not immune to some stress And

50:31

so the room requirement is like

50:33

a spa or a place to

50:36

relax. I like that a lot.

will discuss order the Phoenix Chapter

51:18

19, the Lion, and the Serpent.

51:20

Now it's time for everybody's favorite

51:23

game show, Quizz. This week's question

51:25

was, what bird did the ancient

51:27

Greeks, ancient Romans, and Gangus Khan

51:30

all used to send their messages?

51:32

The correct answer was pigeons. And

51:34

because you learned something new every

51:37

day, here's how they did it.

51:39

You would take pigeons that were

51:41

from a certain region or era

51:44

area of the world and take

51:46

them to these foreign cities where

51:48

you were sending letters from and

51:51

truly all that they would do

51:53

is they would fly home with

51:56

a letter attached. Oh, interesting. Oh,

51:58

is that where the like homing

52:00

pigeon? comes from like I'm just

52:03

a homing pigeon. Yep. It's pretty

52:05

neat because in the Harry Potter

52:07

books it's all magic, you know,

52:10

elves or owls magically know where

52:12

to find you. But anyway, 72%

52:14

of people said they didn't look

52:17

it up. They knew about the

52:19

pigeons, which is exciting. And those

52:21

correct answers were submitted by 100%

52:24

raven claws since the beginning. A

52:26

healthy breeze, Aberforth's abs of dumboldo.

Lockhart verse voice, meaning it's a

52:47

lie because he's a fraud. I

52:50

taught a putty tat. John Lithgo

52:54

correct answer. Nice job, John. A.K.

52:59

53:01

53:04

next week's Quizzich question. The abbreviation

53:06

DA. May most commonly refer to

53:08

this position as chief prosecutor in

53:11

a United States criminal case. What

53:13

is the position with those initials

that has a history stretching back

53:44

of us, including Pam. Thanks for

the Hype, MICA. and Laura are

53:55

reviewing the latest season of The

White Lotus. And on Millennium, we're

talking about the Buy it Nice

54:02

or Buy it Twice shopping trend.

54:05

All of these shows are brought

54:07

to you by muggles like you,

54:10

and there's lots of great ways

54:12

to help us out. One of

54:14

our newest ways is by visiting

54:17

muggogastmerch.com to get official Muggogast Gear.

54:19

You can also visit petriam.com/muggle cast

54:21

for two bonus muggle cast episodes

54:24

every month. You hear that Warner

54:26

Brothers? That's how you're going to

54:28

hear my plan for Harry Potter

54:31

season one. You've got to pay

54:33

up. Everybody else can also get

54:35

ad-free episodes of Muglecast. You can

54:38

hop into a monthly zoom hangout.

54:40

There's many other magical perks, all

54:42

at patreon.com/Muglecast. If you enjoy the

54:45

show and think other muggles would

54:47

too, send an owl to a

54:49

friend about the show, and please

54:52

cast a five-star review in your

54:54

favorite podcast app. That does it

54:57

for this week's episode. Thanks everybody

54:59

for listening. I'm Andrew. I'm Andrew.

I'm Eric. Hi!
