Melek Firat Altay, PhD, is a neuroscientist specializing in neurodegenerative diseases, with a focus on Parkinson’s disease and Alzheimer’s disease. She earned her doctorate in Neuroscience from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (EPFL) in Lausanne, Switzerland, where her research centered on alpha-synuclein heterogeneity in Parkinson’s disease and other synucleinopathies. In 2024, she became a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Fellow at the Andreasson Lab, where her work explores the role of immune responses in the pathology and progression of Alzheimer’s disease. Her contributions aim to advance understanding of disease mechanisms and potential therapeutic approaches.
