1:33

Bucki Brooks. Welcome to Move

1:35

the Stakes. I am Bucki Brooks

1:38

and I'm sitting here with my

1:40

man Lance Z. We've just finished

1:42

night two of the 2025 NFL

1:44

draft. And last, I mean, there's

1:46

a lot of stuff going on.

1:48

There are a lot of dreams

1:50

that are realized, but I think

1:52

we would be remiss if we

1:54

don't start with the biggest story of

1:56

the day. Day two rounds, two

1:59

and three go, five quarters. quarterbacks

2:01

have now been drafted, but when

2:03

the fourth round opens on Saturday,

2:05

Kerala quarterback Shidur Sanders will still

2:07

be waiting to hear his name call. Yep,

2:10

he'll still be waiting. And, you know, it's

2:12

a different conversation today

2:14

than it was at the end of the day

2:16

than it was at the beginning of

2:18

the day. The beginning of day

2:20

was. football people saying, look at

2:22

these silly people on social media

2:24

arguing about how Shador Sanders was

2:26

supposed to be a top 10

2:28

pick and they didn't watch tape

2:30

and they didn't, you know, and

2:32

really this is, he fell out,

2:34

but that was, that's for football

2:36

reasons. Now, was there always a

2:38

concern about, you know, maybe how he interviewed?

2:40

Sure. Is there going to be some

2:43

concern for some teams about? Don Sanders

2:45

and his you know the looming specter

2:47

of Dion if things don't go well,

2:49

you know, maybe maybe but once we

2:51

hit the second round and Bucky you

2:53

and I talked about off the air

2:56

There was a scenario where it should

2:58

or Sanders could absolutely slide out of

3:00

the second round We knew that we

3:02

knew that and then if he slid

3:04

out of the third the thought was

3:07

a second then like what's to keep

3:09

him from sliding in the third? We

3:11

did think Tyler shut could go ahead

3:13

of him that was possible Once you

3:15

got all the way to the, midway through, once

3:18

he got past the Pittsburgh Steelers. At

3:20

83. At 83, you turned and said,

3:22

oh, this may be a wrap for

3:24

him, because Cleveland had passed on. I

3:26

mean, they passed on so many times

3:28

that you couldn't envision them taking him.

3:30

And then I would say the nail on

3:33

the coffin, or when you really went, uh

3:35

oh, is when Dylan Gabriel, no

3:37

disrespect to Dylan Gabriel, quarterback

3:39

coming out of Oregon, when

3:41

he's taken 94th overall by

3:43

the Cleveland Browns. who had bypassed

3:45

on an opportunity to take the

3:48

quarterback, that's when you're like, hey

3:50

man, there's a scenario where he may

3:52

not get drafted today, but also, you're

3:54

now beginning to wonder, is he gonna

3:56

get drafted? Period. Because with the

3:58

Raiders and the Browns. bypassing

4:01

them multiple times, the saint

4:03

seemingly getting their guy, the

4:05

giants have gotten their guy,

4:07

the Seattle State Jaylon Millrow.

4:09

Who's left? Like now is a free

4:11

fall where going to day three in the fourth

4:14

round, if he goes in the fourth round,

4:16

we talk about developmental prospect,

4:18

anyone taking a guy where

4:20

we're just throwing darts. To

4:22

think about him being in

4:24

that scenario, where you're just

4:26

throwing darts, where does he go?

4:28

And the other thing. And like it reminds

4:31

me of the Tim Tebo thing,

4:33

right? When Tim Tebo was out

4:35

there in respect of Tim Tebo

4:37

joining your squad, so much

4:40

noise, so much perceived distractions.

4:42

It was a distraction though, don't you

4:44

think with Tim Tebo? Sure. Everything, every

4:46

time Tim, we got sick as a

4:48

fan, I was so sick. and a

4:50

media member hearing about Tim Tibo every

4:52

time, like guys, this is not the

4:54

story. And so is that going to

4:56

be the thing? Because when Shodur Sanders,

4:58

when he gets picked, is the first

5:01

thing that happens, media members are gonna

5:03

say, does he have a chance to

5:05

start? Do you have this? What kind

5:07

of situation do you have? I'm looking at

5:09

a situation where it has to be

5:11

someone that's so interested as the starter,

5:13

that he's a non-fact when it comes to

5:15

them bringing him bringing him in and

5:17

doing him in and doing that. Not a

5:19

fun, but a very fascinating story to

5:21

watch. I would say one that I

5:24

don't know if I've ever seen a

5:26

notable name like this, experienced

5:28

this kind of slide, when

5:30

it wasn't a conversation going

5:32

in. What's not medical, right?

5:34

There's nothing, there's nothing criminal,

5:36

there's not the medical that

5:38

we know of. Now let's,

5:40

you know, let's just tell it

5:43

all. He didn't compete at all

5:45

in the Shrine game. Okay. Right. He

5:47

didn't work out at the combine. Okay,

5:49

he didn't throw at the combine.

5:51

Not the first player not to

5:53

do that. That's not that big

5:55

a deal. Didn't do anything at

5:57

the big 12 pro day. Okay.

6:00

And then he finally had his own

6:02

showcase day. I do think that the

6:04

specter of everything being larger about it

6:06

being about Shador, you know, Travis Hunter,

6:09

Dan put lots of platitudes and he

6:11

won the Heisman Trophy. He didn't

6:13

come up there and did everything. He

6:15

did, but he did, he did that.

6:18

But the other thing was, you know,

6:20

Dan always mentioned Travis every time he

6:22

mentioned Shador. It's not like Travis, but

6:24

there was something that felt like. You

6:27

know, there was a push that

6:29

Shidor was bigger than the team.

6:31

And that's something that

6:33

will really turn teams off. The fact

6:35

that he went after his offensive line

6:37

a year ago and... in a twitch

6:40

stream. I talked to an assistant GM

6:42

who told me that was a big

6:44

turn off for him because in the

6:46

NFL you gotta say it's your fault

6:48

even when it's not your fault, like

6:50

I gotta do a better job of

6:53

getting rid of the ball. Because you're

6:55

protecting your guys, because your offensive line,

6:57

it's a brotherhood between the quarterback and

6:59

the offensive line. And I think this

7:01

is a more complicated and more nuanced

7:03

conversation that you and I can have.

7:05

The general public just really can't have

7:07

it in a social media setting. It

7:09

requires a lot more conversation because there's

7:11

a lot more that goes into it.

7:13

It's a lot of nuance. And back

7:15

in the day we were talking about

7:17

the quarterback position being presidential in

7:20

terms of being very regal in

7:22

nature, very regal in how you

7:24

handed yourself on the field, all

7:26

to feel, in press conferences and

7:28

those things. And he... Shidur is

7:30

a very confident, very brash, very

7:32

in your face, like he's different.

7:34

He grew up in the 7-on-7

7:36

era where these things are very

7:38

commonplace, like the watch celebration. That's

7:40

very commonplace. If you go to

7:42

any 7-on-7 event, you see these

7:44

kinds of things. But we're not

7:46

necessarily used to seeing a quarterback

7:48

who is like that. And I will

7:50

say this and it will be interesting

7:53

to fast forward. to 2026 and

7:55

if archmanning is in the draft

7:57

and the things that we talk

7:59

about in terms of Dion and the

8:01

family and all of this other stuff,

8:04

do you get the same kind of

8:06

sense and sentiment? Because remember, the Manning

8:08

family was very outspoken about Eli going

8:10

to a place and those things. And

8:12

early in the process, Dion talked about

8:15

wanting to make sure that, hey, we

8:17

won't go to these places, we want

8:19

to go there and this and the

8:21

tables have turned. And you just wonder

8:24

when that conversation came out there. How

8:26

did coaches receive it? How did GMs

8:28

and manage beneficials receive it? And those

8:30

things. And now the leverage isn't with

8:33

the player, the leverage is with the

8:35

team. And as we go into the

8:37

fourth round, man, you are hopeful as

8:39

opposed to a guy that is served

8:41

to make the team when you're a

8:44

top prospect. I can tell you from

8:46

talking to NFL personnel, personnel people, there

8:48

is a concern right now. with entitlement

8:50

on the college level because of NIL,

8:53

because it's gotten so out of control

8:55

so fast. It's gone from zero to

8:57

100 miles an hour. And the amount

8:59

of money that's there, and the stories

9:02

you hear behind the scenes with, with

9:04

players becoming really, really difficult, the ability

9:06

to leave anytime you want, the transit,

9:08

it's a constant state of free agency.

9:10

There is a belief by NFL teams

9:13

that. players are becoming more difficult to

9:15

deal with and this is and it

9:17

really is only this is only like

9:19

the third year that we've seen NIL

9:22

so it's still very very early but

9:24

I do think that there you are

9:26

going to see more and more teams

9:28

who are going to try to figure

9:31

out who the more entitled once who

9:33

the I don't know if I want

9:35

to say spoiled or whatever but the

9:37

guys who are in it for the

9:40

NIL and who are in it for

9:42

football I believe Shitor Sanders loves football.

9:44

On tape to me, he's a second

9:46

round talent. He's the second best quarterback

9:48

in this draft. I think he's got

9:51

tremendous. His confidence to me is a

9:53

huge plus. Now, some of it's too

9:55

extra. Oh, it just is. I mean,

9:57

let's just be real. Some of this

10:00

too much, you gotta dial some of

10:02

that back. I don't mind brash, I

10:04

don't mind confident, I don't mind cocky,

10:06

Darren Rogers stuff, all that stuff. Baker

10:09

may feel rubbed people the wrong way.

10:11

You can do it when you're balling

10:13

out on a high level in the

10:15

NFL. But it's an impact baker when

10:17

it came to the draft. No, it

10:20

did. Like it's, he's not the first

10:22

one. Joey Harrington. has some stuff where

10:24

he could have been hard to do

10:26

it didn't stop teams from taking them

10:29

third overall and I do understand yeah

10:31

talent brings tolerance and we talked about

10:33

him not having the elite tools and

10:35

those things but I'm just telling you

10:38

I never thought it would be a

10:40

situation where he falls can we have

10:42

the third and so look don't want

10:44

it to overshadow like the night of

10:46

so many guys realizing their dreams but

10:49

man we have to at least address

10:51

what was, look, early in the process,

10:53

we were talking about two quarterbacks, who

10:55

was gonna be number one, to have

10:58

the guy who was in that conversation,

11:00

not only completely fall out of the

11:02

first round, but to not be taken

11:04

in the first three rounds, to me

11:07

it makes it a more significant story.

11:09

Yeah, and you and I have both

11:11

been censored of the fact that. Good

11:13

football players have not had enough conversation

11:15

in this process leading up because we

11:18

talked about it. Because everything's been shadoor,

11:20

shadoor, shadoor. And it's not fair to

11:22

Cam Ward first and foremost. Cam Ward

11:24

deserved way more. Did not get enough

11:27

shine. This is different. Well, the conversation

11:29

we're having now is how did it

11:31

happen and what happens now? The reason

11:33

that happened is gonna be different for

11:36

different teams. Some teams probably didn't like

11:38

the football players much. He's. you know

11:40

he's not he's mobile in the pocket

11:42

he's not he's not a fast escape

11:44

ability guy takes too many sacks holds

11:47

on to the ball too long you

11:49

know there's been a lot of players

11:51

have held there's a lot of players

11:53

you know for everything that you can

11:56

say there's a counter to it so

11:58

that's why it's I think it's like

12:00

I mean, and my point is this,

12:02

like when we talk about the league

12:05

and everyone talks about these side standards,

12:07

we've seen players Ryan

24:29

on the I heart radio app Apple

24:31

24:33

You know Bucky the Cardinals have a

24:36

real boom bus draft working right now

24:38

my two six point five grade players

24:40

boom bus grades Both landed on the

24:42

Cardinals Walter Nolan and Will Johnson Walter

24:44

Nolan is a really explosive three down

24:46

player, but at A&M, there were questions

24:48

that dogged him about his, you know,

24:50

his professionalism, so to speak, his work

24:52

ethic off the field. Now, it was

24:54

not challenged when he was on the

24:56

field, but people I talked to over

24:59

there just said, you know, trying to

25:01

get out of practice here and there,

25:03

wanting to stand the, you know, staying

25:05

the, in the training room here and

25:07

there, why does this guy not? practice

25:09

and stuff like that. But it wasn't

25:11

a football issue. There's nothing criminal with

25:13

him. There's nothing anything like that. But

25:15

Walter Nolan went 16th, probably could have

25:17

gone top eight, top nine, something like

25:20

that. Maybe even higher actually. I haven't

25:22

even higher grade. So he's there. Really

25:24

talented though. Will Johnson goes 47th. A

25:26

little bit of a knee issue that

25:28

is a consideration. Never ran. Never ran

25:30

a 40-time and team study is a

25:32

little bit slow. Never ran a 40.

25:34

So we're not sure there. Jordan Birch.

25:36

Jordan Birch is your third round pick.

25:38

He's 290 pounds, looks the part, but

25:40

is not real, and he's a great,

25:43

he's a great athlete. Russia than run

25:45

defender. I want him to be tougher

25:47

at the point of attack as a

25:49

run defender. I want him to show

25:51

more grit and tenacity on a regular

25:53

basis. If you don't have that in

25:55

the NFL you flame out quickly like

25:57

grit and tenacity or something that you

25:59

just have to have and that's something

26:01

Jordan Birch is going to have to

26:04

have from a talent standpoint off the

26:06

Cardinals talent. is off the charts. Consistency-wise?

26:08

I would argue, Nolan's very consistent. Will

26:10

Johnson, when he played, was very consistent,

26:12

but you gotta worry about speed. And

26:14

then Jordan Birch has got a, you

26:16

got a light of fire on him,

26:18

he's got to. put a little glass

26:20

in that diet be a glass muncher

26:22

and be a little bit you know

26:25

and just be a little salt here

26:27

I think to play in the NFL

26:29

because these are these are tough guys

26:31

that it helps to have a little

26:33

glass in your diet. So it's funny

26:35

because I know you know Chris Ballard

26:37

will and we've always been able to

26:39

talk about ballot likes the athletic freaks

26:41

and so we've always been to kind

26:43

of identify the Indianapolis Colts. Well I'm

26:45

gonna say Johnson and the Seattle Seahawks,

26:48

they certainly like to drink from that

26:50

same water trough. When you look at

26:52

what they've been able to do, like

26:54

first, they go and get Gray's able

26:56

in the first round. So that was

26:58

Thursday night. But then to come back

27:00

and you look at who they've taken

27:02

today, Nick Emmon Worry from South Carolina,

27:04

Freak Show athlete, put on a show

27:06

at the combat, was really the star

27:09

of the combat, king of the combine,

27:11

we can call him, Elijah Arroyo. Think

27:13

about the talent, the tools that he

27:15

brings to the tight end position and

27:17

how he can be that flex tight

27:19

end to get open down the middle

27:21

of the field for Sam Donald. And

27:23

then you top it off with Jaylon

27:25

Murrow who is the freak show of

27:27

all freak shows at quarterback. The talent

27:29

and the tools were there in terms

27:32

of man he is an elite running

27:34

back playing quarterback with big time arm

27:36

talent in terms of being able to

27:38

push it down the field. John Snyder

27:40

is banking on the traits. These tools

27:42

are going to translate into production and

27:44

that is going to help us get

27:46

over the top and you see it

27:48

particularly in their day two picks. they

27:50

went big on a prototype. Yeah, I

27:53

thought they had a good, I thought

27:55

they had a good day. And Jaylyn

27:57

Millrow is just so intriguing to me

27:59

because, look, I don't love him as

28:01

a quarterback based on what I saw.

28:03

I thought he was more like a

28:05

fourth round pick, a backup. But the

28:07

thing that you can't handicap is players

28:09

who have dynamic speed. Like you can't

28:11

game plan for it defensively. You can,

28:14

but it's more on the college level,

28:16

on the high school level, on the

28:18

pro level. You can't really do that.

28:20

As long as you're not too predictable

28:22

as an offense, it's really hard to

28:24

handle quarterbacks who break contain, break the

28:26

pocket, or can run. Because nowadays teams

28:28

will just direct snap and it turns

28:30

into power and they're around the corner.

28:32

And I mean, Jaylyn Mill could turn

28:34

into a first down getter. when you're

28:37

in third and short as a rookie

28:39

they could do something like that with

28:41

it i'm not convinced that you can't

28:43

run some taste some hill type stuff

28:45

with him early on in his career

28:47

and just find ways to get him

28:49

to ball and see if you see

28:51

if he can be explosive now that

28:53

doesn't mean i don't think like he's

28:55

certainly worth developing yeah i think you

28:58

can develop the the the footwork the

29:00

timing the decision-making but he's just a

29:02

special special when you get the five

29:04

star and you see it is five

29:06

star ATH coming out of high school

29:08

everyone wants to draft everyone wants to

29:10

recruit those guys you get the five

29:12

star ATH and we will figure it

29:14

out we get it maybe it'll be

29:16

a corner maybe it'll be a quarterback

29:18

maybe it'll be a wide receiver running

29:21

back he's like one of these special

29:23

five star athletes that yeah he's a

29:25

quarterback but we just want him in

29:27

the building because you got to figure

29:29

out how we're going to figure out

29:31

how we're going to figure out how

29:33

we're going to figure out how we're

29:35

going to figure out how we're going

29:37

to figure out how we're going to

29:39

figure out how we're going to and

29:42

Lamar Jackson. I don't know anyone else

29:44

that runs like those guys. No, and

29:46

the thing is, I would ask Alabama,

29:48

I don't know why they didn't run

29:50

them more, to be honest. I mean,

29:52

that's the thing, like, when people made

29:54

the comparison of Lamar Jackson, Lamar Jackson,

29:56

had 1500-yard seasons back-to-back. Merrill didn't touch

29:58

the ball enough to fully max out

30:00

his running skills. And I would like

30:03

to see what the Seattle Seahawks are

30:05

able to do. The good thing about

30:07

their situation with Drew Locke already in

30:09

the building to back up Sam Donald.

30:11

This is one where they actually have

30:13

an opportunity to play and have fun.

30:15

They have a chance to really develop

30:17

him. He can be on the Scout

30:19

team kind of working and being the

30:21

other team quarterback while also working on

30:23

his game. And then next year, we

30:26

can kind of see if he can

30:28

be a special player, but you're right.

30:30

You would like to think they want to

30:32

put the ball in his hands and see

30:34

if they can get something out of him.

30:36

Last team that I want to bring up,

30:38

Tampa Buccaneers Buccaneers and the Buccaneers, I just love

30:40

it. I just love it. Benjamin Morrison and

30:43

then they get Jacob. I love it. Love

30:45

both those guys. Yeah, both of those guys

30:47

to me are plug-in-place starters in any situation.

30:49

And in Todd Bowe's defense where they want

30:52

to zone blitz, they want to bring pressure,

30:54

they want to hang these guys in these

30:56

matched zones where they're playing three deep and

30:58

some of this other exotic stuff, both of

31:01

these guys not only have the instincts

31:03

and awareness and high IQ to do

31:05

it, but man, their physical tools should allow

31:07

them have a lot of success in that

31:09

success in that. My last one's

31:11

gonna be Darren is it's

31:14

pronounced Mogee, right?

31:16

Maui from the Jets. He

31:18

and Aaron Glenn, the new

31:20

head coach, I thought so

31:22

far have done a fantastic

31:25

job. They get Armon

31:27

Memboo, who is. I think a

31:29

plug and play starting right tackle

31:31

the position they really need. Mason

31:33

Taylor who I loved tied in

31:35

out of LSU that I think

31:37

will come in and immediately help

31:39

Justin Fields there. And then Azaria

31:41

Thomas, a physical press man corner

31:43

who's tough to throw over and

31:45

who is, you know, who will.

31:47

can really deal with the slower

31:49

wide receiver. If you're not a

31:51

quick shifty wide receiver, if you

31:54

let him travel with big wide

31:56

receivers, that's one of those big

31:58

wide, personal matchup guy, I would not. have

32:00

him on one side buck, I would travel him

32:02

if you're going to play man to man and

32:04

make sure you keep him on the right kind

32:06

of match up. So there's going to be some

32:09

matchups that aren't great for him I think, but

32:11

you know he's he's pretty good at press at

32:13

getting his hands on people and slowing him down

32:15

so I think the Jets did a really nice

32:18

job with their three picks they had a first

32:20

a second and a third but I thought they

32:22

got really solid value and early contributors from

32:24

all three all three of those guys. You

32:26

know the big thing with the Jets I

32:29

want to see Aaron Glenn that talked about

32:31

wanting to have that three-headed monster at running

32:33

back. Maybe they find a guy that they

32:35

can throw into the rotation because with Breezehall,

32:37

Brayland Allen, if you can find another guy,

32:39

they really want to get after it and

32:41

run the football and be physical with Justin

32:43

Fields who's we'll call them half a running

32:45

back. They can be pretty dynamic. Yeah, he

32:47

is a running game. Yeah, yeah. Jetser, they

32:49

could be interesting next year. It's not like they

32:51

don't like they don't have talent. It's

32:53

like they don't have talent. The Jets

32:56

have talent. They pick seventh because things

32:58

just fell apart on the last couple

33:00

of years. But the Jets, the Jets

33:02

could be a problem by next year

33:04

if Justin Fields, you know, can have

33:06

a really an above average year. So,

33:08

especially if they keep drafting like this.

33:11

One team to keep an eye on

33:13

for tomorrow I think is going to

33:15

be the San Francisco 49ers. They have

33:17

a billion draft picks. They've got 11

33:19

picks in this draft. They've already picked

33:21

four players. They've got two force, two

33:23

fists, three sevens. They're going to, they're

33:25

not gonna use two force and two

33:27

fists. They're going to figure out exactly

33:29

who they want and they will use

33:32

those draft picks to get four picks

33:34

will turn into two and they'll get

33:36

two guys that they love. That's what

33:38

they're gonna do. You know, let's, let's see

33:40

if there's anybody that is available, like

33:42

anybody that you're brewing on that you

33:44

think could be or should be. coming

33:46

off the board pretty quickly. Well, Bucki,

33:48

I would say, you know, I'll start

33:50

at running back, Dylan Sampson, and they're

33:52

Shaw Tutin or two running backs that

33:54

I think should come off the board

33:57

fairly quickly. Actually, this is a great

33:59

running back draft. Trevor Etten and Jane

34:01

Blue, two guys who can make explosive

34:03

plays out of the back field. Trevor

34:05

Etten, I think, is a little more

34:07

dynamic in terms of three downs. Camp

34:09

Scatibo, everyone's favorite. I know you're

34:11

a fan. I am too. I think

34:13

he's a good football player. Every time

34:16

you watch him, he's the hardest guy

34:18

to tackle. It's Ashton Gente and then

34:20

Camp Scatibu. Those are the two hardest

34:22

running backs to tackle in college football.

34:24

I think those are... Those are guys

34:27

to keep an eye on. Where will

34:29

Quinn yours and Shidor Sanders fall? And

34:31

Kyle McCord, Will Howard, Riley Leonard, these

34:33

are named guys. It's going to be

34:35

interesting to see where they end up

34:38

on the defensive side of the board.

34:40

I think guys to keep

34:42

an eye on would include

34:44

Danny Stutzman, good linebacker, very

34:46

good tackler from Oklahoma, Josh

34:48

Farmer, the big defensive tackle

34:50

from Florida State, fourth rounds

34:53

about where he should go.

34:55

and pass. Pass Russia from LSU

34:57

and Beren Sorrel Pass Russia from Texas.

34:59

These are some of the guys. I

35:01

can tell you, the defensive tackle, this

35:04

is going to be filled with defensive

35:06

tackles tomorrow. Edge rushes, we'll see a

35:08

big run on the running backs and you're

35:10

about to see a ton of linebackers start

35:12

coming off the board. We're going to be

35:14

here for every pick of every round. We're

35:17

going to say a lot of linebackers names,

35:19

a lot of defensive tackles names, a lot

35:21

of defensive tackles names, and a lot of

35:23

defensive going to have to make the team

35:25

by doing it on the third phase of

35:27

the game. And so, look, we look forward

35:30

to everyone coming back. We're going to have

35:32

a wrap-up show at the end of the

35:34
