Mormons, Navy Cryptology, and Leather, Oh My! What and episode this week where I have Michael Bluth; the owner and operator of Open Sea Leather Co. Mike is an 11-year Navy veteran who served as a Cryptologic Technician Interpretive. Mike grew up as a Mormon, and talks about his initial mission where he found a love for Spanish, ultimately leading him to be a linguist in the Navy. Mike served across several commands, having to master both Spanish and Chinese. We get into some of the off personalities you meet in the Navy, especially in the CT community (ever hear of furries!?) We also get in to what ultimately led to Mike separating from the Navy, which spoiler alert: typical Navy bullshit. As I mentioned, Mike owns and operates Open Sea Leather Co and we talk all about how he started the company, his goals and ambitions for the future, as well as where you can all grab the products!
