1:10

a wedding, celebrating love, which is

1:13

quite frankly disgusting. It's a formal

1:15

one weekend. Instead, we have Alex

1:17

Jakes, the Goat F1 commentator. Of

1:19

course, we have worked together lots

1:21

on the Sim Racing world of

1:24

Formula One. Alex, how are you

1:26

my friend? I am very good.

1:28

Thank you for having me first and

1:30

foremost. And yeah, we get to talk

1:32

about the real thing today, so what

1:34

a treat! What a treat indeed. I

1:36

am not talking to Alex, Jake's fire,

1:38

tin cup and string. There is in

1:40

fact a microphone in his head set

1:42

which might need boosting ever so slightly,

1:45

but I just wanted to cover that

1:47

off. But it's great to have you,

1:49

Alex. Thank you so much. Bahrain, we

1:51

were leading into qualifying, thinking my goodness

1:53

gracious me, McLaren, are three business days

1:55

ahead of everyone else. But it turned

1:57

out to be quite an exciting one.

1:59

come the end. Well it's almost like you

2:01

were messaging me saying oh my word three

2:04

business days ahead and I said let's wait

2:06

and see until we get to the real

2:08

thing. Oh it's always like you know what

2:10

you're talking about. That's definitely not the case

2:12

but yeah it was it was great that

2:15

we got a far more competitive session and

2:17

I think we were perhaps expecting. Right,

2:19

let's get into Q1 first and foremost,

2:21

where the bottom five were Holkenberg? Yes,

2:23

Holkenberg. Lawson, Bordiletto, Stroll and Bairman. Now

2:26

the big talking point for this one,

2:28

not that there was a massive scalp,

2:30

I think Bairman, you know, my biggest

2:32

good surprise of the season, I was

2:34

quite disappointed to see down in 20th,

2:37

but the big talking point, and we'll

2:39

dive straight into the first question from

2:41

Simon Compos, Why did the stewards wait

2:43

40 minutes to delete Holkenberg's lap? Meaning

2:45

Albon lost out in Q2 and can

2:48

they appeal some kind of reparations? Well

2:50

that one, that is going to

2:52

be a murky waters to find

2:54

out whether that actually happens. But

2:56

Holk, so to paint the picture

2:59

for anyone that did miss that,

3:01

Hulk was technically through to Q2,

3:03

get pipping Alex Albon to 15th

3:05

position and then just randomly before

3:07

the end of qualifying we heard,

3:09

oh. Oh well, Holkenberg's lap time has

3:11

been deleted, which gave very, was

3:14

it Perez 2022 vibes in Austria,

3:16

where, and it's a big thing

3:18

because Albon, it's not like it's

3:20

15th or 16th on the grid,

3:23

it's Albon's chance to do a

3:25

decent job in Q2 and potentially

3:27

make it through the Q3. You've got

3:29

to ref it in the allotted time

3:32

allowed and you cannot have a situation

3:34

whereby you're reordering the grid. when you're

3:36

in another segment that qualified. Do your

3:39

best to police it within the time

3:41

that you have allowed, but the moment

3:43

the clock resets, that's got to

3:45

be it, that you've got to go

3:47

on because otherwise you get into a

3:49

situation where Matt Gallagher's asking his lovely

3:51

listeners why an earth Alex Alvin was

3:54

denied the chance to fight through into

3:56

Q3 and especially with his teammate up

3:58

there, that'll be that'll just be it. ultra

4:00

frustrating weren't it? Because that's process getting in

4:02

the way of the result. And so I

4:04

think you've just got to go. We we

4:06

either delete the times by the time we

4:08

get to the green light at the start

4:10

of Q2 or you get away with one.

4:12

Now there's not a huge amount of context

4:14

or at least not that I've seen so

4:17

far. You would imagine it's the scenario of

4:19

a team going or did you not? probably

4:21

Williams going, going, did you not

4:23

see Holkenberg's lap there? I'm pretty

4:26

sure he went off the track

4:28

and then they're discovering through their

4:30

video evidence and then it's 40 minutes

4:32

late. Of course, they kind of in some

4:34

ways have to make that decision of, yeah,

4:36

well he did do an illegal lap time,

4:39

make that change, but I guess from

4:41

your side, yeah, it makes sense as

4:43

well that you can't just be randomly

4:45

changing things once the session is done.

4:47

It's a difficult area. It's a difficult area.

4:50

in that Williams. I think science has

4:52

looked better this weekend and perhaps had

4:54

a slight advantage over Albon, which is

4:57

the first time we've probably seen that

4:59

so far with them being teammates. But

5:01

yeah, it's going to be a difficult

5:04

one for Alex Albon down in 15th.

5:06

It is going to be a difficult one to

5:08

take for him because he's been denied

5:10

the chance to get through and yes,

5:12

he was in the bottom five, but... He's

5:14

been very very close with with signs and

5:17

then delivered in qualifying so far this year

5:19

three nil up in the head to head.

5:21

That's only the third time the last 50

5:23

races he's been out qualified by a teammate.

5:25

So it's pretty unusual for Alex and an

5:27

even more unusual way that it's come to

5:30

pass. So yeah that's that's something that needs

5:32

tightening up. It certainly does. Other talking

5:34

points and storylines obviously Liam loss and his

5:36

struggles continued but that was kind of down

5:38

to his DRS not working what I've seen

5:41

is that it was on the back straight

5:43

where it just didn't decide to work which

5:45

was a tenth, tenth and a half between

5:47

him and making it through the Q2 so

5:49

I'm not going to be too harsh on

5:52

him for that one because it was quite

5:54

close and the racing balls may be lacking

5:56

a little bit of raw speed compared to

5:58

what we've seen in the past. Letto, he's

6:00

driving a dustbin as is Holkenberg, and

6:02

then you have Lance Stroll. He's, Lance

6:04

Stroll, and I know, look, Alex, you're

6:06

in official F. On commentator, you're just

6:08

going to slide on that fence beautifully,

6:10

but I'm not, so I can say

6:13

what I want. Lance Stroll has very

6:15

much sort of slotted. back into the

6:17

lance stroll sadly of the last few

6:19

years where you go, oh really, is

6:21

that it, really, out in Q1? Because

6:24

he has, he's been carrying Aston Martin

6:26

on his back with his rucksack than

6:28

10 points saying, thank you very much,

6:31

I've had a great start to

6:33

the year, but a back-to-back disasters 20th

6:35

in Japan and now 19th in Bahrain.

6:37

Yeah, no feel behind the wheel at

6:39

all and no confidence, that's the words

6:42

just bouncing around the paddles to rotate

6:44

the car. we'll see as we go

6:46

further up the grid but yeah all

6:48

at sea with that and really tough

6:50

moment for him because as you say

6:52

there was that was a great result

6:54

in Australia and he sat his pointless

6:57

streak and he followed it up in

6:59

China and yeah unfortunately reverted back to

7:01

the form that he ended last year in. And

7:03

how much is there to say do you think

7:05

in the fact that in my mind with

7:07

how the conditions have been in FP1 and

7:09

FP3? It almost feels like a bit

7:11

of a sprint weekend in the sense

7:13

of one representative session to actually test

7:15

the car in free practice too. FP1

7:18

and FP3 was essentially just a rally

7:20

course for most of the drivers. How

7:22

much do you think that some of

7:24

the drivers have been struggling due to

7:26

the nature of the fact that even

7:28

the reference, sometimes actually having these practice

7:30

sessions that aren't anywhere near the

7:32

reference you need can actually be a

7:34

disadvantage? Yeah, I think it's a really good way

7:36

to put it because essentially you've had one practice

7:38

session in representative conditions and Carla Sone was talking

7:40

about it after qualifying when he said you only

7:43

really learn when the car's at the limit and

7:45

you're on the soft tires so you can do

7:47

all the reference laps that you like in practice

7:49

but you only find out on the ragged edge

7:51

what the car can do and what the car

7:53

can't do and what the car can't do and

7:55

that's when stroll being left behind a little bit

7:57

in the last couple of a couple of the last

7:59

couple of rounds. go and the five knocked

8:01

out in this session with Duan, Hadjar,

8:03

Alonzo, Ocon and Albon. Now another driver

8:06

I want to talk about is Jack

8:08

Duan. On the face of it, 11th

8:10

place looks like a great performance but

8:12

I'm almost sat there going, there was

8:15

a lot more and not just purely

8:17

on what Gazley achieved which was

8:19

a phenomenal lap but Duan had

8:21

his nose ahead the entire qualifying

8:23

session up until the final lap

8:25

of Q2. Obviously he does start

8:27

11th which is a great opportunity

8:29

for him but I was left wanting a

8:32

bit more from doing because we have

8:34

seen some really good potential with him

8:36

in dry conditions where it hasn't been

8:38

you know a bit of a lottery

8:40

or a sprint weekend or whatever it

8:42

might be. There has been glimmers of

8:44

potential and again this weekend but 11th I

8:46

was just wanting a little bit more. Yeah,

8:48

I imagine he was as well when he

8:50

was the lead alpien in the early parts

8:53

of qualifying. The thing is that pressure of

8:55

delivering and getting into the top 10 shootout.

8:57

That's that's just what you learn with

8:59

experience. He hasn't got it and he's

9:01

building back his confidence after a pretty

9:03

rough start for the year in terms

9:05

of crashes in Melbourne. Obviously had the

9:08

mechanical issue in China as well and I

9:10

was a massive crash. When you're having to

9:12

be helped out of the car at the

9:14

end of the Japanese gone pre-by competitor. in

9:16

Esteban Ocon, that was a huge smash into

9:18

the wall. And so he's building back his

9:21

confidence, his feel for the car, but this

9:23

is a racetrack where he's obviously had pre-season

9:25

testing and he's got form around here with

9:27

a pole in Formula 2 in the past.

9:29

So this is slightly more comfortable territory for

9:32

Jack, do it? Yeah, he'll be slightly disappointed

9:34

that he didn't make the top 10, but

9:36

that's still a career best start for it.

9:38

It certainly is. And another worth mentioning

9:40

mentioning mentioning about, or actually the fact

9:42

that I haven't read his name out,

9:44

Yuki Sonoda made it through. Daniel Bridden-8

9:46

says, should we be more impressed with

9:48

Sonoda making it to Q3, as Max

9:50

is really struggling to drive the car as

9:53

well. It was very much on the cusp, wasn't

9:55

it, Sonoda trying to get through? It was ninth

9:57

and tenth for Red Ball in Q2 to make

9:59

it through. through. They, I mean, Yuki's

10:01

done a great job, I would say.

10:03

He was, I think, within a couple

10:06

of tenths in Q2, which is exactly

10:08

what the doctor ordered when it

10:10

comes to Yuki Sonoda and his

10:12

hire there. But I think overall, as

10:15

Red Bull, you're sort of

10:17

scratching your heads a little

10:19

bit, aren't you? I think they'll

10:21

be happy if he can replicate

10:23

the two tenths of a second

10:25

thing. Obviously, they're struggling. bunch of

10:28

drivers who have gone in and

10:30

done it. Obviously picking Liam Lawson

10:32

after 11 races and then sucking

10:34

him after 2, demoting him down to

10:36

2. It just robbed Lawson of pre-season testing

10:38

in the car that he'll be driving for

10:41

the rest of year and it lost Yuki

10:43

Sonoda pre-season testing. And as a result they're

10:45

making up for lost time. I think that's

10:47

impressive to get through because there's a

10:50

little bit of pressure there after what

10:52

happened in Japan last week on Yuki

10:54

and Friday. Obviously from watching practice, it

10:56

looked painful. It looked painful. And

10:58

I had to say after FP3, I was thinking

11:00

he'll do well to make it out of Q1

11:03

here and he did and he managed to make

11:05

Q3 for the first time of that circuit. So

11:07

solid stuff from him because that was

11:09

more of a mental test than a

11:11

physical one. The Red Ball is obviously

11:13

not the races. Now before we dive

11:15

to Q3, there is a man on

11:17

talk about Fernando Alonzo, 13th on the

11:19

grid, quite an anonymous just starts

11:22

the season for Alonzo. It's not

11:24

gone his way. But the team

11:26

radio that he came out with,

11:28

it felt heavily sarcastic. I don't

11:30

know if it was or not,

11:33

because it made absolutely no sense

11:35

why he was saying, I think

11:37

it's typical Fernando Alonzo, where he

11:39

wanted to make sure he knew

11:41

everybody knew that he got the

11:44

absolute maximum out of the car.

11:46

But then saying, well done guys. Is

11:48

he really that happy right now with

11:50

13th and that is exactly the lap

11:52

that he could have got out? I

11:55

don't know, it just felt as

11:57

though there is a simmering frustration

11:59

that Fernando Alonzo... feeling. I'm a fan

12:01

of a bucketload of

12:03

sarcasm, but given that he

12:05

didn't even have a steering wheel

12:07

attached to the car yesterday, I

12:09

feel like it's not impossible that

12:12

it was genuine. I mean, the

12:14

video that was going round of

12:16

him just like opening him clothes,

12:19

and look, it's coming off in

12:21

my hands. I feel that if that's

12:23

your Friday, B30 may not be a

12:25

bad Saturday. And who knows? As long

12:27

as I join in Barbara and David

12:30

caught that other commentary, Boris, they thought

12:32

it was sarcastic. Who knows? Either way,

12:34

it's just a little bit heartbreaking that

12:36

two years ago he was fighting for

12:38

the lead at starts of races and

12:40

finishing on the podium eight times that

12:42

year and now he's back in the

12:44

mid-pack because he's magic around Bahrain and

12:46

13th is probably the best he could

12:49

have got out of it. Hey

14:25

let's get to the top 10

14:27

and Q3, the order. Piaestry, and

14:29

we actually need to change this

14:31

because this order is wrong, is

14:33

Piazzary LeClaire Russell, then Gazley 4th,

14:36

Antonelli 5th, Norris 6th, Vastapin signs,

14:38

Hamilton and Sonoda. Now you might

14:40

be wondering why I'm saying it

14:42

like that. Well, literally about five

14:44

minutes before we started recording, there

14:46

was confirmation that both Russell and

14:48

Antonelli. have a one-place grid penalty

14:51

for coming out of their pit

14:53

box a little bit too early.

14:55

They went out with the estimated

14:57

time to leave the pits rather

14:59

than the actual time, which is

15:01

quite bizarre to be honest with

15:03

you. I don't have a specific

15:06

question on it, but I think

15:08

definitely is worth talking

15:10

about. Nothing happened when they

15:12

did that. Yes, I know there is a

15:14

time where it's deemed the pit lane is

15:16

safe. and perhaps there is a slap

15:19

on the wrist to be had but

15:21

a one-placed grid penalty I feel as though is

15:23

a bit over the top especially from

15:25

at least from the outside his perspective

15:27

is there slightly mixed messaging there

15:29

dropping an estimated time and then a

15:31

then a real time and mistakes can

15:34

be made I don't know I just

15:36

felt like a one-placed grid penalty for

15:38

something like that it felt like a

15:40

team fine a reprimand whatever it might

15:42

be if something is a one-placed

15:45

grid penalty mat Is it really that

15:47

bad? So we've had a one place

15:49

grid penalty in Qatar last year

15:51

that was a bit ridiculous

15:54

and now we've had one

15:56

place grid penalties for Russell

15:58

and Antinelli bit

16:00

ridiculous. We've got a huge

16:02

fan base that have discovered

16:05

Formula One in recent times.

16:07

Let's not mess a roundover

16:09

process. I'm totally with you.

16:11

And also, if there's no,

16:13

if there's no absolute necessity

16:15

to change the grid after we've

16:18

gone off air, don't do it. You

16:20

know, go to dinner, live your life,

16:22

have a wonderful time. I don't, I

16:24

don't really see. If you're into one...

16:27

place grid penalties you could

16:29

have probably let it slid and

16:31

Yeah, I don't I don't understand that

16:33

one particularly and I didn't understand

16:36

matches in Qatar last year and

16:38

Yeah, if it's impeding a driver

16:40

you got to penalize it. You've

16:43

affected the result if it's queuing in

16:45

the pit lane. That is admin. It's

16:47

not a world admin check-in-ship

16:50

Yeah, and this is coming from me.

16:52

Charlotte Clare's now on the front row

16:54

of the grid. I couldn't believe it.

16:56

I could not believe what I was

16:59

hearing. That's when you know it's a

17:01

ridiculous penalty, because Charlotte's on the front

17:03

row of the grid, it's going to

17:05

win it all tomorrow, especially when I

17:08

biggest flopped him, or sorry, big flopped

17:10

him for this race. Yeah, trying the

17:12

old reverse. Well, my big flop has

17:14

been so horrendous this year. Yeah, I

17:17

see. I wanted some momentum and even

17:19

if it means no points but a

17:21

Charlotte Low win I'll absolutely take it.

17:23

Question, Darren talks ball. Is it too

17:26

early to say that this may actually

17:28

be a fairly tight race over the

17:30

course of the season between the four fastest

17:32

teams? Well of course I think this

17:35

Darren is coming very much at the

17:37

angle of Lando Norris in the fastest

17:39

car not able to deliver to the

17:41

extent that his teammate did Oscar

17:43

obviously on pole a brilliant lap from

17:45

him. It's an interesting story, isn't it,

17:48

with the fact that McLaren have the

17:50

fastest car, but they don't have a

17:52

world champion in either of their drivers.

17:54

They both are learning on the fly.

17:56

Lando, of course, is a bit more

17:58

experienced than Oscar. Oscar's trajectory. I've been

18:00

so impressed with, last year we saw a

18:02

period of time where we went, okay, is

18:04

this the Oscar that we're going to see?

18:06

Then he fell off a little bit towards the

18:09

end of the year. He started this year so

18:11

much better already, especially in race trim,

18:13

and he has the one lap pace.

18:15

So if Oscar can get this momentum

18:17

and not make the mistakes that we've

18:19

seen from Lando occasionally, of course Lando

18:21

had a great win in Australia, which

18:23

I think was unfairly criticised. then yeah,

18:25

Oscar may well start to run away

18:27

with this and take the championship lead,

18:29

but there are mistakes out there, both

18:32

from the drivers and the teams. You've

18:34

got George Russell, who I think is

18:36

outperforming that Mercedes brilliantly. Kimmy Antonelli's now

18:38

starting to get a handle of that

18:40

car at least from this weekend. Charlotte

18:42

Claire's the greatest driver of all time,

18:44

so of course he's kind of, he's

18:46

getting the car up there as well,

18:48

so I just threw that one in

18:50

there. But it is... It's not as if

18:52

it's a red bull with one driver with

18:55

the fastest car where they dominate the championship.

18:57

You've got the storyline with two McLaren drivers

18:59

that we've not seen go head to head

19:01

yet and we may not even see that

19:04

tomorrow with the starting grids. It's not

19:06

a done and dusted McLaren have got this

19:08

in the bag and it's clear to see

19:10

with Max One Point behind coming into this.

19:13

You've got to go and earn

19:15

it. And I think what we've

19:17

seen today and over the first

19:19

four qualifying sessions of the year

19:21

in the Grand Prix format for

19:23

Lando Norris is how immensely impressive

19:25

Lewis Hamilton and Maxis Tappan of

19:27

the Enrattling Out Pole positions and

19:30

wins for fun. Nothing is easy

19:32

in Formula One. That McLaren

19:34

is quick, but it will bite you

19:36

back. It's a wide open race because

19:38

of the thing that you highlighted now.

19:41

You've got two drivers who are rapid

19:43

trying to reach a level across 24

19:45

races that they'd never reached before. And

19:47

we saw a big progress last year

19:50

with Lando Norris. And the one bulletproof

19:52

thing for Lando last year was qualifying.

19:54

He would put brilliant laps together, eight

19:56

poles for the season of the things

19:59

that we would... debating about what was

20:01

going to hold him back for a

20:03

championship at the start of the year

20:05

you would not have listed qualifying and

20:07

I think that that is why after

20:09

Q3 it's the first time that we

20:11

saw him like almost struck with What's

20:13

going on here? Quali was the strength

20:16

last year. I should be building on

20:18

that. This should not be the difficult

20:20

bit, but nothing is simple when you've

20:22

got a car that's consistently going to

20:25

be at the front. And the expectation

20:27

has gone through the roof. Bookmakers' favorite

20:29

to win the world championship. It's a

20:31

different type of spotlight to say

20:33

George Russell at the moment, who's

20:36

just free hitting for fun, right? He

20:38

knows he's not expected to get into

20:40

the top three, so any single time

20:42

he can do a qualifying that that

20:44

puts in P2, then the one-faced penalty

20:46

down to P3, it's a bonus. He's

20:48

in bonus territory. Pastrian and Norris are

20:51

expected to lock out the front row

20:53

week in and week out. The problem

20:55

for Lando is that he's giving himself

20:57

a hole to dig out of in

20:59

all four qualifying sessions this year. and

21:01

we've seen sometimes he can and sometimes

21:03

he can and China Japan and now

21:05

Bahrain he's not being able to dig

21:07

himself out of it I'd love to see

21:10

him and this is so

21:12

counterintuitive but I'd love to him to

21:14

commit no news no headlines don't

21:16

say that it feels like I've

21:19

never driven a formula one car

21:21

before mumble your way through give no

21:23

sound bites and and and deal with

21:25

that away from the cameras because every

21:27

single question on the driver's parade from

21:29

everyone on the grid tomorrow even when

21:32

going for a wee before the race

21:34

is going to be like oh you

21:36

were beating yourself up yesterday you're putting

21:38

that negative energy back in your head

21:40

on a Sunday if you come out

21:42

after quality and beat yourself up it's

21:44

very reminiscent of early Andy Murray British

21:47

tennis player years ago used to berate

21:49

himself time and time and time again

21:51

and when he started winning majors his

21:53

coach would not let him do it

21:55

and I think that's a step that Lando

21:57

is going to take he'll look at the day

22:00

will come back and with the right

22:02

timing tomorrow he's still a factor to

22:04

win this race because I do think

22:06

the McLaren is going to filter back

22:08

through the field I think their their

22:10

tire temp over one lap and their

22:13

their handle on the rubber in terms

22:15

of peak performance in quality and in

22:17

terms of degradation across a race distance

22:19

is just the head of the field

22:21

I think that's the massive difference between

22:23

McLaren and everyone else. Lovely

22:26

stuff. A question from a P1 patron,

22:28

but Old Father Ted. Is Lando feeling

22:30

the pressure from Oscar already? I think

22:32

it's, you know, Alex, you said it

22:35

quite nicely, it's not just Oscar, it's

22:37

the media, it's everything, the storylines trying

22:39

to be built, and I am in

22:41

complete agreement that Lando needs to adjust.

22:44

Give it a couple of word answers

22:46

that don't don't over explain yourself because

22:48

you're always going to get misquoted You're

22:50

always going to get pushed in a

22:52

different light And Lando is a phenomenal

22:55

driver like you he is so quick

22:57

And I think and we've seen it

22:59

already We've said in Abu Dhabi last

23:01

year. He can lead from the front

23:04

and he can deal with pressure. He

23:06

had the constructors championship which McLaren were

23:08

very much wanting on his shoulders from

23:10

lap one in Abu Dhabi and had

23:12

signs within a second and a half

23:15

two seconds the entire race it's not

23:17

to say that he can't deal with

23:19

pressure because he can but there is

23:21

obviously these these moments that will make

23:24

him start to question I think he

23:26

will be a little bit concerned to

23:28

see just how good Oscar is becoming

23:30

I think it's natural you're always going

23:32

to compare yourself to your teammate you've

23:35

got the same machinery under you've got

23:37

the same machinery under you but this

23:39

is I still and people are maybe

23:41

a little bit less Forgiving with Lando

23:44

because he's been in the sport, what

23:46

now, five, six seasons. It's becoming experienced

23:48

in terms of a formula one driver

23:50

compared to some on the grid. But

23:52

he is still learning in the sense

23:55

of fighting for a championship. We saw

23:57

that last year and we're seeing it

23:59

again this year. But can he learn

24:01

quick enough to win one? My opinion,

24:04

McLaren aren't going to be fastest from

24:06

26. So this is, Piastrian Norris is

24:08

potentially their last chance for a little

24:10

while. It's a 24 race season, that's

24:12

the one thing I would say, this

24:15

is a bad day for the championship

24:17

aspirations in Lando Norris, but he can

24:19

still win the race tomorrow. The great

24:21

thing is, he's incredibly talented map, that

24:23

he is rapid, and Piastri has had

24:26

to up his game, because the biggest

24:28

difference between the two of them was

24:30

qualifying pace. by a mile. Twenty to

24:32

four last year and suddenly Oscar's got

24:35

a handle on that. Great for him

24:37

and he's he's brought the heat. That's

24:39

why that's why Lando's feeling the pressure

24:41

after qualifying but it's a very long

24:43

campaign. We're going all the way to

24:46

December. There's a long time to put

24:48

it right. Now we have to speak

24:50

about a man that will start fourth,

24:52

obviously qualified fifth, Pierre Gazley, T. Gazley,

24:55

realistically can Gazley finish within a few

24:57

places up or down of where he

24:59

qualified. Well a few places up will

25:01

be second position which I think he

25:03

will take every day of the week.

25:06

He's going to be on the back

25:08

foot. I think that Gazley has outperformed

25:10

that car amazingly. This is the Gazley

25:12

that we're so used to seeing. back

25:15

in the sort of Alpha Towery days

25:17

and whatnot. So it's great to see

25:19

Gazley be able to perform like this

25:21

in qualifying. You've got to think Norris

25:23

is coming through maybe Vistap and once

25:26

he sorts his break issues because that

25:28

was something he was constantly complaining about

25:30

in qualifying, which I think definitely did

25:32

hinder him from potentially getting up towards

25:35

sort of third position on the grid.

25:37

Signs, I don't think so. Hamilton's had

25:39

a difficult qualifying. you expect him to

25:41

be strong in the race he always

25:43

is. So I think Gazzley would be

25:46

happy if he if he finishes seventh

25:48

tomorrow with no D&Fs. I think that

25:50

would be a strong result. That'd be

25:52

a fantastic result. Baring your mind that

25:55

he's starting P4 with a car that's

25:57

not been in the top 10 this

25:59

year. time last year. So huge amount

26:01

of work has gone on at Endstone.

26:03

When he's in the groove, as we

26:06

saw in Vegas last year, when he's

26:08

in the groove, he's absolutely rapid and

26:10

wonderful to hit his team radio, when

26:12

you usually hear swearing and complaining. So

26:15

it was lovely to hear swearing and

26:17

had a positive message at the end.

26:19

So great delivery from him, any points,

26:21

even P9, P10, great result, all he

26:23

needs, helping, just need to get up

26:26

and running. Phenomial stuff. I

26:28

think that pretty much sums up qualifying

26:30

for the Bahrain Grand Prix. Big shout

26:32

out to you, Alex jokes for slotting

26:34

in for Tommy, who of course will

26:36

be back tomorrow after his celebrations, his

26:38

wedding celebrations, not his. He's been married

26:40

for many years. How would you sum

26:42

up your thoughts and feelings going into

26:44

tomorrow? Alex, are you excited for this

26:46

one? I'm excited. I love a race

26:49

around Bahrain. You can overtake in a

26:51

turn one, you can overtake in a

26:53

turn four. And I will take that,

26:55

I will lap that up, Matt Gallagher,

26:57

because I can't wait to see what

26:59

we get. We should get some side-by-side

27:01

action. And Piafry is in a great

27:03

position to convert, but I don't know.

27:05

We keep thinking at the start of

27:07

weekends we're going to get one thing

27:09

and we keep getting another. So I'm

27:11

all for it. I'm having a lot

27:14

of fun this year. I'm fully expecting

27:16

you Alex if you have commentated Charlotte

27:18

Claire taking the lead into term one

27:20

you just with one hand loading up

27:22

the P1 watch along to see what's

27:24

going on on there as well whilst

27:26

you're commentating because it could get wild

27:28

I'm not expecting for our race pace

27:30

in the slightest but we can dream

27:32

thank you Alex again and we'll see

27:34

you very soon we'll be live as

27:36

always tomorrow on YouTube and twitch for

27:38

the borrowing Grand Prix watch along Tommy

27:41

be back and we'll be back and

27:43

we'll see love bye If
