3:24

yours today is Friday, March 28th. And

3:26

boys, we finally had some madness,

3:28

Texas Tech, down 16th with 10 minutes

3:31

left. Takes down John Calpapari.

3:33

and the Arkansas Razorbacks. And

3:35

I feel bad for Arkansas

3:37

fans, but I laugh at

3:39

Cal because that was an

3:41

all-time meltdown and Hank just

3:44

sent me a graphic. This is

3:46

reading off. So so so

3:48

Arkansas doesn't own all of this.

3:50

2021 missed the tournament. 2022 is

3:52

all Cal. 2022 lost at

3:54

15 St. Peter's. 2023 lost

3:57

in the second round. 2024

3:59

lost to... number 14 Oakland

4:01

2025 blue 16 point second half lead.

4:03

Yeah, I don't know that you can group

4:05

this one in with the other ones because

4:07

at least he got this far and he

4:10

was a 10 seed. Yeah. Don't it was

4:12

a it was a hog reveal. They're chokers.

4:14

That was bad. It was a bad. It

4:16

was a bad job in the second half

4:18

for sure. I don't know that you would

4:20

put this on the same level as losing

4:23

to a 15. This was a bad loss

4:25

though, especially the way the way the Texas

4:27

tech was playing. McMillan was out,

4:29

they were not shooting the ball well,

4:32

they were absolute monsters on the offensive

4:34

glass. There was one possession where I'm,

4:36

like, I think, I think Texas Tech

4:38

got the offensive board like five times

4:40

in a row and then finally willed

4:43

the ball in the hoop because it

4:45

felt like for the first 35 minutes

4:47

of this game, Texas Tech every

4:49

time they scored was a miracle

4:51

and they found away, they willed it,

4:53

they scored that three with nine seconds

4:56

left. And then the real egregious thing

4:58

by Cal is he doesn't call a timeout

5:00

with nine seconds left. Just lets

5:02

his team go down there. Boogie Flynn takes

5:05

a, takes kind of a fade away that

5:07

the front iron. That was avoidable

5:09

and Texas Tech incredible fight by

5:11

them. They deserve all the credit.

5:13

It was the classic Todd Bulls.

5:15

You can't take him with you.

5:17

Yeah. You got the time out

5:19

burning a hole. I guess he

5:21

was like, I guess maybe we

5:23

can just catch him by surprise.

5:25

Yeah. But, uh, maybe his thought

5:28

was that Darian Williams would be

5:30

winded after backing the guy down.

5:32

He wouldn't get back on defense.

5:34

Maybe a travel. I enjoy watching,

5:36

by the way, I enjoy watching

5:38

him play very much. Maybe a

5:40

travel. I enjoy watching him play

5:42

very much. Boys are buzzing. I

5:44

do feel bad for Arkansas fans.

5:46

Eric Musselman wouldn't have blown that

5:49

lead. Oh no, no chance. Absolutely not.

5:51

No one in Richardson wouldn't have blown

5:53

that lead. Yeah, we have fun with

5:55

Cal. That was bad. I like Cal.

5:57

He's, I want him around in college

5:59

basketball. he's fun, but that was a

6:01

bad one. They don't call it 45

6:04

minutes of hell. Yeah, it's 40 minutes

6:06

of hell. So at that point, Calipari

6:08

is like, you know, they don't pay

6:10

me for overtime. Texas Tech shot, what

6:13

was it? They actually shot 25% from

6:15

three, so they kind of cleaned it

6:17

up at the end because they hit

6:19

a couple. But there was a moment

6:22

there where they were shooting like 9%

6:24

from 3. 22 offensive rebounds is ridiculous.

6:26

Yeah, it's crazy. That's a ridiculous number.

6:28

And they're a good team and they've

6:31

been injured like all year. They've had

6:33

guys in and out. JT. Toppin with

6:35

that, he had that hook shot and

6:37

overtime that was just a thing of

6:40

beauty. But Texas Tech that we deserve

6:42

that game. I'm glad that we got

6:44

some over time. I got that I'm

6:46

glad that we got some action the

6:49

sweet 16. The sweet 16 because the

6:51

first two games sucked. Because the first

6:53

two games sucked. Bad games, bad job,

6:55

basketball. Well, bad games, and listen, I

6:58

bet PYU, I put a lot of

7:00

money on them, game of the year.

7:02

I can hand up and say, that

7:04

was not a bad game, that was

7:06

a nuclear explosion by Alabama. I don't

7:09

think I've ever seen a team shoot

7:11

the three like they did tonight. And

7:13

that was what? PYU against Wisconsin. They

7:15

didn't shoot like that. It was pretty

7:18

good, but yeah, Alabama, what they did

7:20

tonight. And they're playing with Zula Ball.

7:22

They shot 51-3s and they almost, they

7:24

shot, they were 25 for 51. You

7:27

actually could take out the last second

7:29

huck by Grant Nelson at the end

7:31

of the first half that really wasn't

7:33

an attempt. There were 50% from three,

7:36

shooting 53s. If they hadn't shot a

7:38

two-point shot, they still would have won

7:40

this game. It was insane. It was

7:42

absolutely not. I don't think any team

7:45

in the country beats Alabama if they're

7:47

shooting like that. Oh, I agree. Like

7:49

that was, and they were shooting from

7:51

deep, they were shooting, because, you know,

7:54

BYU was trying to mix it up,

7:56

they were throwing some zone at them,

7:58

they were just shooting over the zone.

8:00

Mark Sears was 10 for 16 from

8:03

3. He just kept shooting it, it

8:05

just kept going in. It was insane.

8:07

I know we joke about Alabama because

8:09

of our friend Rico Bosco. That Alabama's

8:12

fun to watch, and that was an

8:14

insane. like offensive explosion. I mean, you

8:16

scored 88 points and lost by 25.

8:18

So I got a dumb question for

8:21

you, Big Cat. Is it bad that

8:23

they shot so good? Does that ever

8:25

carry over to that? If you have

8:27

like an outlier, a game like this

8:30

that's so insanely good from three points,

8:32

they're not going to be able to

8:34

keep that going, right? I think the

8:36

Rams and Newark might be a little

8:39

soft because we saw it, the Duke

8:41

game too, where Duke, that was 193

8:43

points. So combined in those two games

8:45

was like over 400 points. I guess

8:47

you could also say they gave up

8:50

88. Yeah, they gave up 88, but

8:52

like, it's insane to give up 88

8:54

and still win by 25. And still

8:56

just beat the shit out of your

8:59

opponent. Yeah, that Alabama team is that,

9:01

that's a scary, that is what, if

9:03

you're an Alabama fan. You just have

9:05

in your back pocket where you're like,

9:08

hey, we could just come out and

9:10

just shoot and hit every three and

9:12

no one can beat us because they

9:14

do have that. Yeah. And that was

9:17

what we saw tonight and it was

9:19

incredible to watch. And B. Y. They

9:21

weren't making their threes tonight like they

9:23

were against Wisconsin. No, they were ice

9:26

cold from the outside. I was hoping

9:28

that the rim in the first half

9:30

would translate and that B. Y. You

9:32

would heat up in the second. I

9:35

think it was a little bit racist.

9:37

How high they were throwing the ball

9:39

and missing their alley. I would say

9:41

some of them technically aren't even misses

9:44

because they wouldn't hit the player. Yeah.

9:46

They was just eternal. Just like I

9:48

don't know how the scores would, is

9:50

that a shot? I think that's a

9:53

turnover. Like count that as a. It

9:55

was a bad pass. Yeah, it was

9:57

like, I'm gonna throw that guy can

9:59

jump 13 feet in the air. Yeah,

10:02

it was, yeah, the BYU is not,

10:04

not on their game, Alabama, absolutely destroyed

10:06

them. Duke, I know it was 193,

10:08

but Duke just stopped playing offense for

10:11

like the last 10 minutes. It felt

10:13

like like running their real offense because

10:15

it felt like they could, they were

10:17

in control against Arizona for the entire

10:20

game. Even got Caleb Love, who, that

10:22

was his last college game, went out

10:24

on his sword, scoring 35. We never

10:26

got the bad kill love in this

10:29

tournament. But Duke looks so good. That

10:31

game ended after that, at the end

10:33

of the half. Yeah, would Cooper Flag

10:35

hit the Buzzer Meter 3? They're just

10:37

so, Duke just has so many guys

10:40

and they're just, and when Cooper Flags

10:42

bringing up the ball, like, what are

10:44

you gonna do? So the way they

10:46

ran this game, especially after the first,

10:49

like 10 minutes, the last 30 minutes

10:51

of this game, it was Cooper Flag,

10:53

do whatever he wanted for the ball.

10:55

Yeah. And they couldn't stop him. There

10:58

was no chance. No, he was phenomenal.

11:00

He scored 30 points. He was he

11:02

was all over the place Yeah, con

11:04

nipple. I think we got to just

11:07

say nipple. Yeah, I do like when

11:09

he does the shimmy and he gets

11:11

the baseline I call the nip slip.

11:13

Yeah, that's a good move. Con nipple.

11:16

Yeah, con nipple Duke is fun. I

11:18

have bad news. Duke is a fun

11:20

basketball team. If you enjoy watching basketball,

11:22

you're going to love Duke Blue Devils.

11:25

It's crazy. I don't want them to

11:27

win at all, but I've been saying

11:29

they're going to win at all, and

11:31

I don't hate them the way that

11:34

I usually hate Duke, and it hurts

11:36

me. Yeah. Because they are fun to

11:38

watch. They are. And then the last

11:40

game, Florida killed Maryland. And Florida is

11:43

really really good. I expect for her

11:45

to go to the to the final

11:47

four. We had, uh, Condon did get

11:49

hurt for a little bit there, which

11:52

was scary for Florida, because that is

11:54

their ceiling. Yeah. Him being out there.

11:56

And they're just an awesome team. The

11:58

story, obviously, though, is Kevin Willard and

12:01

the weirdest like. three weeks stretch because

12:03

this goes all the way back I

12:05

think before the Big Ten tournament right

12:07

around the Big Ten tournament. Kevin Willard

12:10

should we first announce it? Congratulations Kevin

12:12

Willard you are the head coach of

12:14

the Villanova Wildcats. You got your guy

12:16

Max. You got your guy. Yep. How

12:18

would you rate Kevin Willard's exit from

12:21

Maryland? Uh, not a great

12:23

exit from Maryland, but I'm worried about his

12:25

tenure to Villanova. That's the past. We're worried

12:27

about the future. Okay. And Kevin Willard of

12:29

Villanova. So you just said, the quote I

12:31

heard from Max Memes, I don't know if

12:33

you caught this, was, I am worried about

12:35

Kevin Willard at Villanova. Yeah, no, I'm, I'm

12:37

focused on that. No, you said worried though.

12:39

But that's what I care about. That's my,

12:41

I'm not worried about that. I'm not worried

12:43

about that. I think that. If I was,

12:45

if I was, if I was in charge

12:48

of a, if I was in charge of

12:50

a coaching search of a coaching search of

12:52

a coaching search, I would take into account

12:54

how poorly he handled the exiting of the

12:56

Maryland job and I'd be like Actually, I

12:58

don't know if we're going to go ahead

13:00

and do this Maybe the people of Maryland

13:02

are also doing a bad job behind doors,

13:04

you know Okay, so from what we know

13:06

the Maryland athletic department seems like a shit

13:08

show it seems like a shit show and

13:10

I feel I want to say this I

13:12

feel really bad for Maryland fans because this

13:14

should have been a really fun like sweet

13:16

16 run they hadn't gone to the sweet

13:18

16 in 10 years you had Derek Queen's

13:21

buzzer beater on Sunday it should have been

13:23

a really fun like this is the start

13:25

of something big and instead it was two

13:27

weeks of just the weirdest press conferences and

13:29

the weirdest headlines and Kevin Willard from everything

13:31

that I've read essentially has been the Villanova

13:33

coach for like a week and a half

13:35

now he he started this all two weeks

13:37

ago doing a press conference being like hey

13:39

we need more support we need more NIL

13:41

we need all this stuff fine totally fine

13:43

everything I've read Maryland basically said okay Kevin

13:45

Willard you're right we're gonna give you everything

13:47

you want and he's like I'm going to

13:49

the Big East. I want to go back

13:51

to the Big East and everything I asked

13:53

for, yeah, you delivered it, but I'm not

13:56

going to take it. It's a bad position

13:58

for a coach to be in because coaches,

14:00

here's a news flash, they have zero loyalty

14:02

to whatever job that they're right. Unless it's

14:04

one of probably like a dozen, there's probably

14:06

a dozen schools that guys are out where

14:08

they're like, this is where I want to

14:10

be as long as they'll have me. But

14:12

outside of that. they will be looking for

14:14

a higher paying job a better job if

14:16

it's available and it sucks it sucks i

14:18

this is the part that i i don't

14:20

like about college basketball is this type of

14:22

stuff because Maryland should have been such a

14:24

good feel good story it should have been

14:26

you know i feel bad for the for

14:29

the fans because the nature of the sport

14:31

they've had a bad time going to the

14:33

Sweet 16. Right. It has not been enjoyable.

14:35

There was nothing happy about this time for

14:37

them. There's really no fix. Like I can't

14:39

think of a way to make this right

14:41

off the top of my head. But I

14:43

do. Maybe if just, if reporters agreed to

14:45

stop asking coaches about jobs. The fix is

14:47

he could have done it one of two

14:49

ways. You could have done it the Will

14:51

Wade way. which i didn't mind yeah and

14:53

just say yeah i'm taking the villanova job

14:55

i love these guys i'm gonna i'm gonna

14:57

coach these guys i'm gonna coach my ass

14:59

off for these guys but i am gone

15:02

or just the note like basically don't talk

15:04

about it at all because he did the

15:06

thing like i understand coaches will do this

15:08

all time and it's bullshit but i also

15:10

never gonna put grudge someone taking a higher

15:12

paying job or a job they want to

15:14

go to for family whatever it may be

15:16

but you could easily just say Like I'm

15:18

focused on this team, I'm not gonna talk

15:20

about this. My agent's gonna handle everything. He

15:22

went on a radio show on Tuesday and

15:24

said I'm the Maryland coach as of right

15:26

now. Mm-hmm. That's crazy. And this is the

15:28

same thing that he did. He was at

15:30

what, Seton Hall? Is it Seton Hall? So

15:32

when he was at Seton Hall, his season

15:35

ended kind of the same way. And in

15:37

the tournament he was like, yeah, I've got

15:39

an agent, I haven't talked to him, I

15:41

haven't talked to him, I haven't talked to

15:43

him, so I haven't talked to him, so

15:45

I haven't talked to him, so I haven't

15:47

talked to him, so I haven't talked to

15:49

him, so I haven't talked to him, so

15:51

I don't talked to him, so I don't,

15:53

so I don't know what's going to him,

15:55

so I don't know what's going to, so

15:57

I don't know what's going to, so I

15:59

don't know what's He was like very very

16:01

cagey about it about the way that he

16:03

left. He said in his post game press

16:05

conference, the only thing that I'm worried about

16:07

right now is who my next boss is

16:10

going to be. Yeah. We was still throwing

16:12

shots at Maryland. Yeah, because the AD went

16:14

to SMU. Yeah, and he's like, I haven't

16:16

talked to my wife. I haven't talked to

16:18

my agent. That's all lies. He's talked to

16:20

both. Yeah. He's he's going to be announced

16:22

the Villanova overhead coach. I actually don't think

16:24

you can go back if you're Kevin Will.

16:26

Well, so there was a report that came

16:28

out that said that he is expected to

16:30

take the job. I think it was Baltimore's

16:32

son, but Maryland is planning on making a

16:34

last ditch effort to bring him back, which

16:36

would be wild. So awkward. Because when they

16:38

left the team hotel today to go to

16:40

the game, the fans booed him. Marilyn fans

16:43

booed their head coach on the way to

16:45

a sweet 16 game. And he, there was

16:47

a, a, a report, it was a rumor,

16:49

it was a rumor, who knows that he

16:51

did not go to the team dinner, Do

16:54

you think that's true? I, it might

16:56

be, because he strikes me the way

16:58

he's handled this whole thing. And listen,

17:00

again, I, people, most people aren't confrontational.

17:02

I don't, I don't like confrontation. He

17:04

probably was like, I'm just going to

17:06

stay at home and do some game

17:09

planning because I don't really want to

17:11

sit with my players and my staff

17:13

and have to have them make jokes

17:15

or ask me questions. Yeah, I think

17:17

you're right. I think the way to

17:19

handle it is just like, I'm not

17:22

going to talk about anything else. Not

17:24

talking about it. You got to set

17:26

the ground rules. Right. You got set

17:28

the ground rules. Right. I think the

17:30

way to handle it. I'm not going

17:32

to talk about anything else. I'm. I'm

17:34

not going to talk about my future.

17:37

I love these guys. And then I'd

17:39

shame the reporters for asking me about

17:41

it. I love that movie. I think

17:43

it's highly offensive that you want to

17:45

take the spotlight off the players and

17:47

their experience and try to divide us.

17:49

I think that's a shameful thing to

17:52

do. That's what Izo did. You see,

17:54

Izo, when they asked him about the

17:56

transfer portal, he's like, I got guys

17:58

here. I got 15. guys here that

18:00

I love. I don't want to talk

18:02

about new guys. I don't want to

18:04

talk about the transfer portal. Yeah. It's

18:07

my guys right here. Yeah. Like that

18:09

there is something you don't know when

18:11

Kevin Willard's been coaching for 18 years.

18:13

This was his first sweet 16 run

18:15

and it basically was sullied by all

18:17

of this. Like I just again it's

18:19

you can do whatever you want you

18:22

can take whatever job you want. There's

18:24

just a way that you can avoid

18:26

all of this and he basically he

18:28

did the exact opposite of avoidance in

18:30

the fact that he made it as

18:32

murky as possible and he kept on

18:34

having weird press conferences and kept on

18:37

stoking the flames like he could have

18:39

shut this down and he just didn't

18:41

yeah he did a bad job quitting

18:43

it but i still think that whether

18:45

you go that way or the will

18:47

weighed way It sucks that it's a

18:50

conversation that happens. Yeah, but it's also

18:52

part of sports. I don't like that.

18:54

It happens in March. Especially with, I

18:56

mean, this is how NIL works now.

18:58

This is how transfer portal. We always

19:00

said that it was unfair that coaches

19:02

could move and players couldn't. Now it

19:05

is equal. We have, you know, Scotty

19:07

Pippin's son hit the transfer portal. He's

19:09

on Michigan. Michigan's in the Sweet 16.

19:11

It's a member when, uh, Beauper Bula

19:13

did it for Penn State, when they're

19:15

in the playoff. Yeah. This is just

19:17

the reality of it. They should change.

19:20

When the transfer report, because that's the

19:22

other part, is the transfer portal opening

19:24

during the tournament, or the transfer portal

19:26

opening during college football playoffs, is so

19:28

fucking asinine and so backwards. Because I

19:30

bet you, not to excuse Kevin Willard,

19:32

if the transfer portal opened, let's say

19:35

April 15. Kevin Willard would not have

19:37

had to have his advanced talks with

19:39

Nova because the pressure of like you

19:41

got to figure it out and you

19:43

got to figure out who your coach

19:45

is you got to figure out the

19:47

transfer portal starts so quickly. You know

19:50

it was crazy tonight too is that

19:52

the first half was close it was

19:54

40 to 38 at halftime. Do you

19:56

think you think Kevin Willard was like

19:58

we're so close? out there and let's

20:00

let's fucking win this game because I

20:02

love you guys and I'm still coaching

20:05

you right now and they took it

20:07

the exact opposite way and they're like

20:09

fuck this guy yeah yeah probably it

20:11

could definitely have happened that was

20:13

his big motivational speech backfired big

20:15

time Stephen Shea was trying to

20:17

get me on that this is

20:19

the exact same thing as Liam Cohn

20:22

the bucks weren't still in the playoffs

20:24

yeah not not the same like that's

20:26

the thing is if Kevin Willard if if

20:28

if there are queens buzzer Like it

20:30

was a little weird a couple weeks

20:32

ago when he made the demands, but

20:34

he would have been the Nova coach

20:36

and we all would have been like, okay,

20:39

that makes sense. Which by the way, this

20:41

is a stat that I wish that we

20:43

had. I wish that we had said this

20:45

earlier in the week. Teams in the last

20:47

10 years are one in seven after a

20:50

buzzer beater. In the NCAA tournament,

20:52

in their next game, one in seven,

20:54

would have like to have known that

20:56

earlier. I think I saw it, but I

20:58

thought. Yeah, I understand but is

21:00

it just I'd have to look because

21:03

you think maybe buzzer beaters

21:05

what? You think it's directly correlated

21:07

You hit a buzzer you lose

21:10

the next no, I think I

21:12

think it has more to do

21:14

with maybe an underdog Yeah, shouldn't

21:16

win the game right and they

21:19

end up winning at the very

21:21

last second right? Stats are

21:23

stats, but you probably have

21:25

to look into it a

21:27

little more Number's never lie.

21:29

Number's never lie. Hank, how did

21:32

you like the games tonight? They were

21:34

great. I like the, uh, it's

21:36

fun. Fun night. It was better,

21:38

better than last weekend. Yeah. And

21:40

we should have, I mean, the elite

21:42

eight matchups now. This is the, the

21:44

whole deal we made is there is

21:46

no upsets at the beginning

21:49

of the tournament, but Duke

21:51

Alabama is gonna be great.

21:53

Texas Tech Florida should be

21:55

great games. Kentucky Tennessee

21:57

tonight. The crown starts on Monday.

21:59

I don't know if you guys have

22:02

seen but I'm actually jacked up for

22:04

the crown. I'm not gonna watch the

22:06

crown Yeah, you are to show on

22:08

Netflix. You know why you're gonna watch

22:11

the crown? You're gonna watch the crown

22:13

because the crown starts Monday at 2

22:15

p.m. I like the timing Yeah And

22:17

it goes 2 p.m.m. 43730 10 o'clock

22:20

You're going to watch the Crown, buddy.

22:22

It's good having basketball along in those

22:24

days. I mean, the timing of it

22:26

is no-brainer. Yeah. It's great. What are

22:29

the matchups? Which crown matchup are you

22:31

most excited for, Kat? Tell me the

22:33

teams, and then I'll tell you how

22:35

excited I am. Nebraska, Arizona State, could

22:38

be good. Washington, to Paul, Cincinnati, UCF,

22:40

Oregon State. Villanova, Colorado, Tuesday night, Tulane

22:42

USC. We're not playing the games. Vegas.

22:44

All of them being played in Vegas.

22:47

So, yeah, I'm a Crown guy. I'm

22:49

excited for the Crown. I want Maximi

22:51

live streaming every Crown game. Yeah, no.

22:53

But... You almost said yes. I get

22:56

fucked up with it. I'm looking at

22:58

Pacific time. I don't know what that

23:00

means. What do you mean? Why is

23:02

your computer not half the time? Well,

23:05

I'm looking at the bracket. So on

23:07

the printout bracket, it says Pacific. So

23:09

that means that you need to add

23:11

two hours to it. Just look at

23:14

the website. I also like that the

23:16

that the Like the final four of

23:18

the crown is the same day as

23:20

the real final four, but it's just

23:23

before. So if you're like craving. Oh,

23:25

that's great. So it's 1230 and three.

23:27

Our time that so it'll be like

23:29

going right up until the final four.

23:32

What about the championship Sunday? Love it.

23:34

Yep. Love it's great. It's a crown

23:36

guy. It's good scheduling. It's good scheduling

23:38

for the crown. You're crown with a

23:41

sickness? Sure. I don't know what that

23:43

means at all. It's a lyric What?

23:45

Down with the sickness. Oh God I

23:47

got it got it got it got

23:50

it got it I thought this I

23:52

don't know my bed. Just say I'm

23:54

crown with a sickness. Yeah. I'm crown

23:56

with the sickness for sure. All right,

23:59

we got we got to talk some

24:01

some LeBron before we do that. Hank,

24:03

we look up what the prices are

24:05

in game time for the Cubs opening

24:08

day next Friday. Sure. Baseball is back.

24:10

There's nothing like getting to a baseball

24:12

game, especially last minute. Lucky for me.

24:14

I always use game time. The official

25:20

out today what time is it game

25:22

time okay LeBron James he went on

25:24

Pat McPhee show on Wednesday lit the

25:26

world on fire then hit a game

25:29

winner against the Pacers then we should

25:31

mention he had the laziest entry pass

25:33

ever in the bulls who were very

25:35

hot won on a Josh Getty half

25:38

court shot which was an encrunk If

25:40

you didn't watch, I would assume a

25:42

lot of people didn't watch the Bulls

25:44

Lakers, just pull up the clips for

25:47

the last 40 seconds, it was insane.

25:49

It was nuts. Three to cut it

25:51

within two? Yeah. And then stolen inbound's

25:53

pass? Kobe White was just on fire

25:56

again. Go ahead bucket. And then was

25:58

it? Laker scored a two? Yeah, it

26:00

was Luca to Austin Reeves. Yep. They

26:02

go ahead and then Giddy hits a

26:05

half court shot. Yeah, half court shot.

26:07

But LeBron conversation. Great name for for

26:09

the interview. I have some takes. I

26:11

want to hear what you guys have

26:14

to say. My first take is how

26:16

pissed do you think skip bailuses? That

26:18

he's not involved? LeBron goes on this

26:20

on this on Pat McVee show was

26:23

actually like pretty entertaining. You know I

26:25

like the whole thing. You didn't hear

26:27

LeBron. LeBron doesn't do these type of

26:29

interviews often. And he started a war

26:32

with Brian Winhorse. He went at Stephen

26:34

A. Smith again. And said the NBA

26:36

was rigged. Say the NBA was rigged.

26:38

Said Janus could have dominated the 70s.

26:41

Said his team that made the finals

26:43

when he was younger was a joke.

26:45

Basically shed on it like the end.

26:47

Yeah. But all this to say. Skip

26:50

Ellis was not mentioned once and all

26:52

Skip Ellis wants to do is get

26:54

mentioned by LeBron He's the big loser

26:56

in all of this. Yeah, yeah, Skip

26:59

was really he was grasping at straws

27:01

tonight because he was pissed He was

27:03

mad at LeBron. He was you know

27:05

calling him out for losing the game

27:08

tonight in the home palace of Michael

27:10

Jordan. Yes. And so he's laying in

27:12

extra hard trying to make LeBron seem

27:14

like a loser. But in reality, Skip

27:17

was just like, maybe he'll talk, maybe

27:19

he's going to call like Stephen A

27:21

by my name in this, in the

27:23

LeBron conversation. But I thought that LeBron

27:26

and then Stephen A's response to LeBron,

27:28

they just need to have a fucking

27:30

conversation on a podcast together. They need

27:32

to quit talking about each other, behind

27:35

each other's backs. They need to just

27:37

sit down and do it all in

27:39

a room. You think that this is

27:41

all the work to get Stephen A.

27:44

Smith some ratings? I don't know to

27:46

get the NBA talked. about it does

27:48

feel very workish at this point. I

27:50

have not given up on my conspiracy

27:53

theory that LeBron is starting this separate

27:55

league and him basically admitting that you

27:57

know he believes the NBA was rigged

27:59

is further evidence of it. It's trying

28:02

to put it a little crack in

28:04

the yeah crack in the truth. Hey

28:06

I've I've I've agreed with you since

28:08

day one when the when LeBron said

28:11

that he was thinking about starting his

28:13

own league that would rival the NBA.

28:15

after they've done everything just bending over

28:17

for him for the last 25 years.

28:20

I thought that fair play on both

28:22

sides until Stephen A was like you

28:24

didn't go to Kobe's funeral and well

28:26

no he also said I know one

28:29

point good point he things that he

28:31

was never brought up yeah there are

28:33

things that he could have brought up

28:35

and he didn't which he hasn't and

28:38

he will continue to not bring them

28:40

up correct and those things as he

28:42

listed them were I didn't bring up

28:44

that you didn't go to Kobe's funeral.

28:47

I get it right when I'm talking

28:49

about the news between you and your

28:51

son. There were things about your son's

28:53

illness. I'm so thankful that he's okay.

28:56

And then he just moved on from

28:58

that point. Yeah. And also the Dwayne

29:00

Wade didn't go to Dwayne Wade's Hall

29:02

of Fame induction. That's right. But when

29:05

he fired the shot about Brani, that

29:07

was the weirdest one to me because

29:09

he didn't finish his thought on it.

29:11

It was almost like, one of two

29:14

things happened. Either one, he was letting

29:16

LeBron know that he knew something, that

29:18

he wasn't going to detail, or two,

29:20

he just decided mid-sentence, oh fuck, I

29:23

better not go there because LeBron's going

29:25

to kick my ass, and then moved

29:27

on. But that part was really weird

29:29

to me. And then also, oh yeah,

29:32

it turns out that LeBron did go

29:34

to Kobe's funeral, and he just asked

29:36

to not be photographed there, because he

29:38

didn't want to make it about himself.

29:41

It's basically just giving Stephen A. Smith

29:43

life, but it's a power move by

29:45

LeBron like Jim McAfee show like on

29:47

the same stage in the biggest LeBron

29:50

Hater, but Yeah, he hates Stephen A

29:52

and Stephen A hates McAfee so yeah

29:54

way to get back a Stephen A

29:56

going on McAfee like that's a you

29:59

got to tip your hat and I

30:01

thought Pat did a really good job

30:03

because Pat does do a good job

30:05

of like asking questions that are uncomfortable

30:08

like just getting right to it the

30:10

one the couple things I like him

30:12

going after Stephen A was fine whatever

30:14

like Stephen A That's the game Stephen

30:17

A wants to be talked about. I

30:19

thought the windy shot was weird Yeah,

30:21

the windy shot was weird Just because

30:23

like I don't think Brian Winhorse ever

30:26

said he's best friends with LeBron. No,

30:28

and he's also everything I've like heard

30:30

from windy He's always pretty effusive in

30:32

praise of like I wouldn't have a

30:35

career for LeBron. Yes, I wasn't in

30:37

the same place same time as LeBron

30:39

James I think maybe what? It's just

30:41

everybody else being like, Wendy is the

30:44

guy that has everything about LeBron. But

30:46

it's also very funny because LeBron, you

30:48

should probably look at your inner circle

30:50

because they're probably the ones talking to

30:53

Wendy. Yeah. Right? Yeah. If I was

30:55

Wendy, I would have been like, I

30:57

wish that LeBron would say that to

30:59

my face because I'd have to swing

31:02

on him. Wendy had the whole media

31:04

responding for him, having his back. Yeah.

31:06

So like, and these are minor things

31:08

because it. Again, overall, I like the

31:11

interview and I thought LeBron was more

31:13

relatable than he's been in a long

31:15

time. The other one that I was

31:17

just like, this is weird. The Janus

31:20

scoring 250 points in the 70s, that

31:22

just feels, it feels desperate of like

31:24

trying to push, you know, I'm the

31:26

goat conversation and it always strikes me

31:29

as weird when guys like bash the...

31:31

people who came before them who not

31:33

only like 70s NBA players games were

31:35

on tape delay guys weren't being paid

31:38

a ton of money they were traveling

31:40

like shit like those guys built what

31:42

the NBA eventually became so you should

31:44

have a little more like reverence for

31:47

those guys I would assume but it's

31:49

also weird to me because if you're

31:51

bashing guys from the 70s what do

31:53

you think is going to happen in

31:56

40 years? You're going to get bashed?

31:58

Yeah. Right. It's like it's like having

32:00

a conversation like everyone knows someone who's

32:02

a big gossip and always has like

32:05

inside you know telling you oh this

32:07

guy's doing this like and they ask

32:09

you what's going on in your life

32:11

and you're just going to tell this

32:14

to everyone else. You can't... If you're

32:16

gonna bash the 70s, they're gonna bash

32:18

you eventually. Or it's like hypothetically, if

32:20

a coach left a job, unceremoniously. Right.

32:23

What do you think he's gonna do

32:25

to your job at some point? Right,

32:27

it's just so weird to me, like

32:29

you're gonna get, it's gonna come around

32:32

on you LeBron. I don't know why,

32:34

you could just take the high road

32:36

and be like. The guys in the

32:38

70s were great in their own way.

32:41

The errors have changed. Basketball has evolved,

32:43

but I appreciate them. And I hope

32:45

people will appreciate what I've done for

32:47

the sport in 40 years. Also, is

32:50

he saying that if you took modern

32:52

day Janus and then just teleported him

32:54

back in time and dropped him in

32:56

the middle of a game, he would

32:59

dominate? Okay, that's probably correct. Yeah, he'd

33:01

probably be the best player by by

33:03

far. But also if you were to

33:05

take. Janus and then have him be

33:08

born in that era right he probably

33:10

would never play in the NBA because

33:12

they didn't scout in Greece correct and

33:14

so LeBron if he had been born

33:17

in that era probably would have been

33:19

a great player great basketball player one

33:21

of the best but would he have

33:23

been as he wouldn't be a carbon

33:26

copy of who he is today would

33:28

he have been able to play for

33:30

20 plus years no way super teams

33:32

didn't exist he might never have won

33:35

a title yeah but he also like

33:37

His career longevity is because of how

33:39

far we've come in sports science. You'd

33:41

think like to bash those guys. They

33:44

were playing in fucking converse and Chuck

33:46

Taylor. Yeah, I don't like him going

33:48

at Wendy. Yeah, Wendy was too much.

33:50

I don't like that. Yeah, Wendy was

33:53

too much. I don't like that. But

33:55

I do like the fact that Stephen

33:57

A is like, I would have swung

33:59

on him if he put hands on

34:02

me. Yeah, I love that. And then

34:04

I also fair play by LeBron, posting.

34:06

It is a great robbery. The other

34:08

two ones I had... I do think

34:11

that's Stephen A. Smith and... Pat McVee

34:13

don't like each other? I think there

34:15

was a report. Definitely. Because he, Stephen

34:17

A's, Stephen A's seemed very complementary to

34:20

Pat McAfee earlier. I think that's been,

34:22

it's been, the beef has been settled,

34:24

but I think there was a beef

34:26

six months ago. Okay. This also, Stephen

34:29

A was in a contract year, so

34:31

I think he probably was, you know,

34:33

angry. Yeah, he's never been on McAfee

34:35

show. Oh, he hasn't? I didn't know

34:38

that. Wow. Wow. So yeah, I mean

34:40

that's not really like I know there

34:42

was a let me confirm that but

34:44

uh Other two funny side pieces of

34:47

the LeBron Versation I saw this This

34:49

tweet from Justin term term mine. Sorry

34:51

if I fucked up your name dude

34:53

Turmine radio host the NBA today four

34:56

to seven Eastern on serious XM The

34:58

most disturbing part of this entire interview

35:00

was the amount of swearing for a

35:02

guy who claims he understands his responsibility

35:05

is a role model. Very disturbing. Makes

35:07

you appreciate guys like Steph Curry even

35:09

more. Very disturbing. Fact. Fact. I was

35:11

disturbed. The part that I liked the

35:14

most was the swearing. Yeah. Yeah. And

35:16

then the other one was, Hank your

35:18

boy, Burke, down bad. Did you see

35:20

that? says that he blocked LeBron's number

35:23

after LeBron and followed him on Twitter.

35:25

perk is down that. I mean, perk

35:27

also was like, that's, does he understand

35:30

what, like blocking someone's number who never

35:32

calls you and who just unfolled you?

35:34

You're blocking somebody that already broke up

35:36

with you. I got your ass. I

35:39

was actually thinking about it. It's probably

35:41

so that he doesn't reach out to

35:43

LeBron. To stop himself. You think, you

35:45

think Perk has LeBron in his phone

35:48

as do not text? He got cut

35:50

off from the Celtics too. He did?

35:52

Yeah. For what? For like talking shit

35:54

last year being like break up the

35:57

J's and you know this team's not

35:59

going to win. title and so he

36:01

like he's not even welcome back

36:03

like within the organization really kd

36:05

kind of roasted him too yeah

36:08

no he's gotten he's he's just

36:10

burned all his bridges damn

36:12

damn that's tough the swearing was

36:14

bad swearing was swearing no it

36:17

wasn't bad it was very

36:19

disturbing it was very disturbing

36:21

okay mop opening day yeah talk

36:24

with Jeff passing in a minute in

36:26

a minute about uh I would say

36:28

everyone should listen because he's great at

36:30

giving us a lot of the nuggets

36:33

story lines rookies that you got to

36:35

watch out for so you can know

36:37

before everyone else knows uh...

36:39

how did everyone's a mob opening day

36:41

go uh... Tyler O'Neill had a home

36:44

run so it went pretty good for

36:46

me six straight opening days crazy he

36:48

was just like i have no idea

36:50

what's going on with me after hit

36:53

this one he's automatic cups

36:55

are one and oh japan Yeah, but

36:57

Maxer want to know with

36:59

an overtime win. So it's

37:01

really we got a point

37:04

too. We don't we don't

37:06

play hockey. We're playing hockey.

37:08

We're playing hockey today. I

37:11

was pumped actually I was

37:13

pumped. Yeah, I was pumped

37:15

McKenzie Gore had 13 strikeouts

37:17

through six innings. Yeah, he was

37:20

Yeah, but Alec bones that

37:22

after the game that was

37:24

because of shadows. Oh, My your guy.

37:26

Yeah, best pitcher in the N. Yeah,

37:28

how many how many strikes? Your guy

37:31

I'm a guy I'm asking you a

37:33

question Zach Wheeler I think you had

37:35

nine you haven't answered Let's see

37:37

look it up memes. How was sodos

37:39

debut? You got a hit in his

37:41

first event. How is his last at

37:44

bat? Not great. Oh bad strike out.

37:46

Oh Yankee's win today. We will win

37:48

tomorrow what? I'm just saying today

37:50

was a win for the Yankees.

37:53

Oh, they dominated are we keeping

37:55

up Are we doing game-by-game score

37:57

on the Yankees Versado?

37:59

Okay. I'd like you to update that

38:01

every time we do a show.

38:04

Today was the Yankees win. All

38:06

right, so when we do Sunday

38:08

show, I want Friday, Saturday, Sunday.

38:10

Done. The best pitcher in baseball

38:12

had eight strikeouts, Max. Eight strikeouts,

38:14

six innings, one run. That's... McKenzie

38:16

Gore had 13 strikeouts, six innings,

38:18

and zero runs. Which one's better?

38:20

7 to 3 the final score.

38:22

No, we're talking about pitching. We're

38:24

talking about the starting pitchers. Okay,

38:26

but they got a point too.

38:28

We got an overtime point. You

38:31

lost the game. Dude, learn how

38:33

score. I have a question for

38:35

Max. I actually already threw this

38:37

out to PFT. We're going to

38:39

talk about this with Jeff passing

38:41

because we were talking about rookies.

38:43

Cam Smith. What you don't like

38:45

check pass? He might have had

38:47

some words for you at the

38:49

end. Camp Smith made the opening

38:51

day roster for the Astros. He

38:53

was part of the Kyle Tucker

38:56

trade. A lot of Cubs fans

38:58

are like, this sucks. Camp Smith's

39:00

gonna be awesome. I think I'm

39:02

rooting for Camp Smith to win

39:04

Ayl Rookie of the year and

39:06

I might even bet it. And

39:08

the Masters. Because if he wins

39:10

Ayl Rookie of the year, then...

39:12

Tom Rickets has to resign Kyle

39:14

Tucker, otherwise it's one of the

39:16

worst trades ever. You think owners

39:18

think that way? I don't know,

39:20

but I'm just, I'm trying to

39:23

think optimistic. It's early, it's opening

39:25

day. Do you think that's stupid?

39:27

I don't think it's stupid. Whatever

39:29

makes you feel better. Well, everyone's

39:31

inclination is if you trade a

39:33

prospect, you don't want him to

39:35

be incredible. And you're like, wow,

39:37

we traded him? I think what

39:39

you're really hoping. Let me cut

39:41

through. Let me cut through. It's

39:43

cold. All right. I was just

39:45

working out. I get it. I

39:48

understand the sentiment entirely. But here's

39:50

what you're doing. You're really hoping

39:52

that your guy is good. and

39:54

that he stays around for a

39:56

long time. Well, Coll Tucker is

39:58

good. But you hope that he

40:00

continues to be good. Right. You

40:02

don't want them to put like

40:04

a Jason Hayward type contract on

40:06

him when he is, when he

40:08

appears to be good, just because

40:10

you don't want to miss out

40:12

on the guy that you traded

40:15

away. And then that contract becomes

40:17

something that you want to get

40:19

rid of for the next four

40:21

years. But Coll Tucker Smith, one's

40:23

rookie of the year. and they

40:25

don't resign Kyle Tucker. Then it's

40:27

a disaster. But you're rooting for

40:29

that? I'm rooting for the pressure

40:31

to be turned up to resign

40:33

Kyle Tucker. And in reality I

40:35

know the other side of this

40:37

is... I mean I guess you

40:40

could you could apply that pressure.

40:42

Right and the other side of

40:44

this which I've thought this all

40:46

through is the real way this

40:48

is probably going to work out

40:50

is Cam Smith will be great

40:52

and then Kyle Tucker won't get

40:54

resigned with the Cubs and Tom

40:56

Rickets... will the only lesson he

40:58

will learn from this is never

41:00

trade prospects and then we'll hold

41:02

on to prospects forever and they'll

41:04

never be good that's also possible

41:07

that's probably the reality it listen

41:09

it was a dumb thought I

41:11

threw it out there I don't

41:13

know it is coke I don't

41:15

know I don't think it's a

41:17

dumb thought you have to protect

41:19

yourself you have to protect yourself

41:21

so maybe I should bet camps

41:23

to win work you have to

41:25

protect yourself somehow I won't judge

41:27

you for how you choose to

41:29

go you want yes long term

41:32

yes and i'd like them to

41:34

do that dumb thought but we'll

41:36

see maybe i'll bet it thought

41:38

yeah also all the bad teams

41:40

one today yeah a lot of

41:42

the bad teams one today so

41:44

you had the marlins they beat

41:46

the the pirates and then you

41:48

had the white socks beat the

41:50

angels my method this year i'm

41:52

not gonna be fading one team

41:54

i'm diversifying oh so i'm gonna

41:56

be fading what i would i

41:59

project to be the three worst

42:01

teams in baseball which would be

42:03

the white socks the Marlons and

42:05

the Rockies. So I'm 0-2 on

42:07

the season on that. Not off

42:09

to a good start. But the

42:11

season's young. Season is young. One

42:13

day. Also, I saw some Yankees

42:15

guys looking a little bit disheveled

42:17

with the new grooming standards. Clean

42:19

it up. I hope, I hope

42:21

that the Yankees come out tomorrow

42:24

and they say, yeah, you know

42:26

when we told you that we

42:28

relaxed the grooming standards? That was

42:30

a test to see who is

42:32

a true Yankee. Yeah, who wants

42:34

to be Yankee? And those of

42:36

you that took advantage of that,

42:38

see ya. I like that. It's

42:40

entrapment. We got you. We found

42:42

out, we weeded it out, cut

42:44

all the guys that aren't true

42:46

Yankees. I like your diversification, although

42:48

it's the reverse Mark Titus, our

42:51

friend Mark Titus bet, the Marlins

42:53

parlaid with the White Sox to

42:55

both win their respective divisions, $5

42:57

to win $350,000. Pretty good. Off

42:59

to $2.0 start. If the season

43:01

ended today, that would cash. Would

43:03

it? Did they beat? Division rivals?

43:05

I don't know if it would.

43:07

I don't know if it would.

43:09

I'm looking at the- No, the

43:11

Marlins beat the Pirates. The Phillies

43:13

also. The Phillies won. Yeah, the

43:16

Phillies won an indivision game, so

43:18

the Phillies are probably- Although technically,

43:20

I'm looking right now, the Marlins

43:22

are listed first, and the White

43:24

Sox are listed second, so- Wow,

43:26

might now work right there. It's

43:28

right there. He just needs 161

43:30

more of those, from both teams,

43:32

who are both gonna lose over

43:34

100 games. Definitely. Okay, let's talk

43:36

some more baseball and we'll be

43:38

opening day with Jeff Passon and

43:40

then we have severance spoilers and

43:43

Fire Fest after Jeff Passon and

43:45

then we'll Yeah, get to that.

43:47

Okay, before we get to Jeff

43:49

Passon talking baseball, guess what it

43:51

is? Summertime, it's about to be

43:53

summer, it's spring, but it's about

43:55

to be summer. Truly, Unruly is

43:57

our drink of the summer. Truly,

43:59

Unruly is the first high ABV,

44:01

hard Celtsor that actually tastes good.

44:03

Truly, a hard Celtsor that breaks

44:05

all the rules, drinks light, parties

44:08

hard, with 8% 8%. It hits

44:10

hard, but still tastes amazing. Comes

44:12

in four fresh flavors, tropical twists,

44:14

berry blasts, citrus, crush, strawberry smash.

44:16

My personal favorite. It's the official

44:18

HardSeltzer, pardon my take. Find truly

44:20

unruly at a store near you,

44:22

44:30

opening day. Truly unruly, truly unruly.

44:32

It's going to be a true,

44:35

44:37

unruly summer with truly unruly. 8%

44:39

ABV hits hard but still tastes

44:41

amazing. Find truly unruly at a

44:43

45:41

hank go to tax act.com okay

45:43

here he is talking baseball Jeff

45:45

passing Okay, we now welcome on a

45:48

very special guest friend of the program.

45:50

It is Jeff Passon from ESPN. It

45:52

is opening day. We're gonna air this

45:54

on Friday. So we're already gonna see

45:57

opening day, although technically the Cubs are

45:59

owned. I told you in text,

46:01

I'm not, I'm just not gonna

46:03

acknowledge those two losses. I don't

46:06

think they should count, they should

46:08

have done an exhibition game, but

46:10

it leads into my first

46:12

question for storylines going

46:14

into this baseball season. Are

46:17

the Los Angeles Dodgers bad

46:19

for baseball? Everyone loves asking

46:21

this question and it's, the

46:23

problem with it is if

46:25

I say yes, then I'm lying.

46:27

But if I say no,

46:29

then it infuriates everybody, because

46:31

I think fans of every

46:33

team outside of the Dodgers

46:35

believe that the Dodgers are

46:37

bad for baseball. And I

46:39

understand, like, I get the

46:42

sentiment. They have an incredible

46:44

team. they have a chance to win

46:46

more games than any team in

46:48

Major League Baseball history this season

46:50

if they can manage to stay

46:52

healthy. And when you put everything

46:54

against the backdrop of that and

46:56

of the fact that they're going

46:58

to spend a half billion dollars

47:01

this year when you've got a

47:03

handful of teams that have payrolls

47:05

under a hundred million dollars and

47:07

were so conditioned to this parody

47:09

salary wise because the NFL and

47:11

the NHL all have salary caps,

47:13

it... Of course, it must be

47:15

that the Dodgers are ruining the

47:17

sport. And yet when I pull

47:20

back and try and look at

47:22

this rationally, they are

47:24

playing in a collective

47:27

bargaining agreement that was

47:29

agreed to by all 30 owners. Now

47:31

I bring that up because they

47:33

decided for this system.

47:36

Right. What the Dodgers have done

47:38

is they've taken the natural

47:40

advantages that they've had and

47:42

used them incredibly well. Like

47:44

if the Dodgers sucked at

47:46

developing players, or if the Dodgers

47:49

sucked at Analytics, or if the

47:51

Dodgers sucked at any of the

47:53

areas where they're actually good, they

47:55

wouldn't be this seemingly unbeatable machine

47:58

that we see right. now, the

48:00

problem is when you have a system

48:02

that operates like Major League Baseballs, and

48:04

then you have a team that not only

48:07

has that financial advantage, but is

48:09

incredibly smart with how it deploys

48:11

its resources to, you have the

48:13

opportunity for a team that looks

48:15

unstoppable. and the only way to

48:17

remedy that is is not through

48:19

a salary cap because if Major

48:21

League Baseball when the collective bargaining

48:24

agreement expires in December 2026 says

48:26

the only way we're gonna go

48:28

back to playing again is under

48:30

a salary cap system we're not

48:32

going to have baseball in 2027

48:34

right like it is Plain and

48:36

simple. They're not going to be,

48:38

players are not going to be

48:40

bullied and cajoled into accepting a

48:42

cap because the notion that the

48:44

cap is like this panacea, that

48:46

it's going to fix all of

48:48

baseball's problems, no. A cap would

48:50

not necessarily do that. It would

48:52

help in some regards, but it

48:55

wouldn't fix things. Right. And so

48:57

because of that, I think we

48:59

have to live with the idea

49:01

that we've seen a team like

49:03

the Dodgers in the past. They're

49:05

called the New York Yankees. This

49:07

was the narrative throughout the early

49:09

2000s, the late 90s when salary

49:12

disparity really started. coming into baseball.

49:14

And what the Yankees did is

49:16

they spent themselves into a bad

49:19

position. We've seen the New York

49:21

Mets guys spend themselves into a

49:23

bad place. Money does not necessarily

49:26

equal success in Major League Baseball.

49:28

It allows you to make mistakes

49:31

and it gives you opportunity at

49:33

those high level players that some

49:35

teams just don't have access to.

49:37

And that's not great. Like if you

49:40

want to say that part is bad. I would

49:42

agree with you on that, but is

49:44

it bad enough where you're going to

49:46

put constraints in place that ultimately hurt

49:49

the players, the people who we watch

49:51

these games for? We don't watch it

49:53

for the laundry, we watch it to

49:55

watch incredible athletes doing incredible things, and

49:58

if you're trying to do something... that

50:00

harms them in the name of parody.

50:02

You're barking up the wrong tree. All

50:04

right, so I'm gonna wait for this

50:07

season to happen to answer that last

50:09

question. Is it bad enough that we

50:11

need to change everything? Because if the

50:14

Dodgers win like 125 games and then

50:16

sweep their way to the World Series,

50:18

then I'm just gonna play the results

50:20

and be like, yeah, it's broken. How

50:23

many games do you think they actually

50:25

can win? Because they are, they won

50:27

the World Series last year, and then

50:30

they added. a ton of pitching and

50:32

it feels like even if they have

50:34

some injuries they have guys that could

50:37

step up like realistically is the record

50:39

something that you could like be like

50:41

yeah we could be talking about this

50:43

in late August. Yeah I mean we're

50:46

looking at 116 games from the Seattle

50:48

Mariners and let's not forget that Mariners

50:50

team bombed out like in the first

50:53

round of the playoffs too. So that's

50:55

like when I try to to answer

50:57

that question the Dodgers good or bad

50:59

for baseball. Right. One of the things

51:02

I always go back to is that

51:04

I can more or less guarantee that

51:06

the Dodgers are going to be in

51:09

the postseason and there are only 12

51:11

playoff spots. So there's a lot of

51:13

value in that. But let's look past

51:15

2024 and back to 2023. They got

51:18

swept right in the first round by

51:20

the Arizona Diamondbacks. So it took back

51:22

to 2022. They got beaten by the

51:25

San Diego Padres. Let's look back. beyond

51:27

2020 when they won the COVID World

51:29

Series. They hadn't won a World Series

51:32

since 1988 and they have been spending

51:34

not quite to this level, but pretty

51:36

similarly over that time. And so the

51:38

great equalizer in baseball is that its

51:41

postseason is just kind of a crapshoot.

51:43

Like even the best team is gonna

51:45

go into a series. with a 60%

51:48

chance of winning, not a whole lot

51:50

higher than that. Right now, if you

51:52

look at the Dodgers like the most

51:54

favorable projections, have them like a 25%

51:57

chance to win the World Series. Now,

51:59

if you ask me, would you take

52:01

the Dodgers or the field, even though

52:04

the... suggests otherwise I'd probably still say

52:06

the Dodgers just because beyond their stars

52:08

guys they have so much depth in

52:10

the organization and depth matters. Death allows

52:13

you to weather the injuries. Death allows

52:15

you to weather the injuries. Death allows

52:17

you to weather the ineffectiveness from some

52:20

guys you might not have expected and

52:22

that's one thing the Dodgers have done

52:24

incredibly well. They they have developed players

52:27

who can either step in for free

52:29

agents who leave or be there when

52:31

guys get hurt. Yeah I think they

52:33

might be bad for baseball though. Because

52:36

here's why, hear me out. Now we're

52:38

not complaining about the Yankees being bad

52:40

for baseball. We're complaining about the Dodgers

52:43

being bad for baseball. And I miss

52:45

that. I miss being able to do

52:47

that. You were talking about the salary,

52:49

you know, obviously with a league that

52:52

doesn't have the same salary cap, like

52:54

the NFL does, it's not built for

52:56

parody. Has there been more discussion about

52:59

the salary floor and having a high

53:01

salary floor? So some of these teams

53:03

that, you know, get away with not

53:05

spending any money at any money at

53:08

all? Some would say it's disrespectful to

53:10

their fan base, they're just printing money,

53:12

they know they don't have to win

53:15

to make money. Has there been a

53:17

discussion about incorporating that into the next

53:19

CBA? A floor comes with a cap,

53:22

a cap comes with a floor, the

53:24

two shall never be separated. And you

53:26

know, as somebody who looks at like

53:28

the Pittsburgh Pirates and sees Paul Skeens

53:31

on a near minimum contract and sees

53:33

Jared Jones before he got hurt, but

53:35

Mitch Keller, they've got Bubba Chandler coming

53:38

up, like the Pirates have an incredible

53:40

pitching staff and they didn't do shit

53:42

this off season. And it, you know,

53:44

like... I should be the person who's

53:47

yelling about this because I live in

53:49

Kansas City because I grew up in

53:51

Cleveland because I embody like the Midwestern

53:54

thought process when it comes to sports.

53:56

And you know, when you have a

53:58

team like the Pirates, I look at

54:00

them and I'm like, try. Just once.

54:03

to feel a winning team. I look

54:05

at Cleveland. They traded Andrez Jimenez, lost

54:07

Josh Naylor this off season. They won

54:10

the American League Central last year. Another

54:12

team didn't do shit. And it just

54:14

bothers me as a sports fan and

54:17

somebody who loves nothing more. than widespread

54:19

competitiveness, that some of these teams that

54:21

are in position to go out and

54:23

potentially win world series don't treat their

54:26

seasons like it. It's disrespectful to fans,

54:28

it's disrespectful to the game. And listen,

54:30

I would love for there to be

54:33

a salary floor in place in order

54:35

to force some of these teams to

54:37

go and spend. We saw this off

54:39

season, the Oakland A's. actually went out,

54:42

sorry, that's a, the A's, not open

54:44

anymore, but the A's went out this

54:46

off season and spent some money. And

54:49

the reason PFT, they did that is

54:51

because they were in position for the

54:53

Major League Baseball Players Association to file

54:55

a grievance for them not spending enough

54:58

of their revenue sharing money. Now, that

55:00

was enough of a threat for them

55:02

to go out and spend, but It

55:05

wasn't seemingly enough of a threat for

55:07

the Miami Marlins who were in the

55:09

same position to go out and do

55:12

that. I understand if you're going to

55:14

like pull back and do a full

55:16

rebuild, it kind of makes sense just

55:18

to bottom out what your what your

55:21

payroll is going to be. But that

55:23

doesn't make the game better. And when

55:25

too many teams are doing that, when

55:28

the when the lack of incentives to

55:30

win are in place. It's problematic for

55:32

the sport, which is why I think

55:34

MLB in the Players Association in particular

55:37

did a really good job in the

55:39

past collective bargaining agreement of draft pick

55:41

penalties where you can't pick multiple years

55:44

in a row inside of the lottery.

55:46

If you are at a certain salary

55:48

level or a certain market level. So

55:50

there are little things that are helping,

55:53

but they haven't like solved the problem

55:55

at this point yet. And it's why

55:57

when we get to that collection. bargaining

56:00

time, like you need smart people in

56:02

the room to make decisions that positively

56:04

impact the sport writ large. Yeah. All

56:07

right. So let's do NLAL. So NL

56:09

is I would say is more. you

56:11

know, top heavy than the AL. It

56:13

feels like obviously you have the Dodgers,

56:16

the Mets spend a lot of money,

56:18

the Braves are getting a bunch of

56:20

guys back, including Acuna. So in the

56:23

NL, is there a team that you

56:25

have circled as like, hey, this is

56:27

a team that no one's looking at

56:29

that could possibly break through this Mets

56:32

Dodgers Braves, possibly Phillies, diamond backs, like

56:34

top of the NL that looks top

56:36

heavy? I think people are sleeping on

56:39

Cincinnati a little bit. You know, Ellie

56:41

Dela Cruz has a chance to be

56:43

a super duper star. And Matt McLean,

56:46

who's in second baseman there, was out

56:48

all of last season. He's an all-star

56:50

caliber player and Hunter Green at the

56:52

front of their rotation. And they're managed

56:55

by Terry Francona, who all he's done

56:57

throughout his career is win. The Reds

56:59

sort of stagnated last year. I think

57:02

I might have picked them to win

57:04

the Central last year. But in a

57:06

division as wide open as that is,

57:08

I like a team that has some

57:11

youth on its side. I like a

57:13

team that has a little bit of

57:15

energy going on and the Reds feel

57:18

like they could be that team this

57:20

year because you're right. In the National

57:22

League, you've got your clearly established teams

57:24

that are either going to be good

57:27

all the way to great. In the

57:29

East. It's the Braves, the Phillies, and

57:31

the Mets. In the Central, I don't

57:34

know if anyone's good. All five could

57:36

win that division, frankly. And in the

57:38

West, the Dodgers clearly at the top,

57:41

but the Diamondbacks had the best offense

57:43

in baseball last year and added Corbin

57:45

Burns, the best free agent starting pitcher

57:47

this off season. The Padres still have

57:50

a ton of talent and did a

57:52

good job adding Nick Pavetta to a

57:54

rotation that really needed another stuff. And

57:57

the Giants are an improved team and

57:59

it'll be interesting to see A, how

58:01

Willie Adomis plays there and B, how

58:03

much Justin Verlander, who's like well into

58:06

his 40s now, has left. Yeah. So

58:08

in that central, we got to check

58:10

in on the health of our guy

58:13

Christian Yelich. He's very important to this

58:15

podcast for reasons. We could get into

58:17

with you, but I don't think you

58:19

want to hear about. Well, actually, let's

58:22

ask him if there's no way you're

58:24

aware of it. I am happy to

58:26

say that I am not aware. It's

58:29

for the best. Please enlighten me. So

58:31

we had back surgery, right? Are we

58:33

thinking that a guy like Christian Yelich

58:36

would be able to compete in the

58:38

home run derby this year? I don't

58:40

give a shit about that. Why do

58:42

you? Where's the connection? It's very important

58:45

to us. If Christian Yelich ever wins

58:47

a home run derby in his career,

58:49

we have to eat each other's asses.

58:52

Yeah. Okay, I do suddenly give a

58:54

shot. Yeah, right, it's very important to

58:56

us. How can you not be romantic

58:58

about baseball? Could he compete? I don't

59:01

know if he could. But I do

59:03

know that I have some favors to

59:05

call it. Well, there was a year

59:08

that he hurt his back right before.

59:10

So this all comes from we, he's

59:12

been a friend of ours for a

59:14

while now. We first had him on

59:17

him, think, 2017, and we were joking

59:19

with him that he doesn't really have

59:21

a good home run swing, and it

59:24

was also the time that there was

59:26

a porn going around where the guy

59:28

in the porn was a doppelganger for

59:31

Christianeel, she looked exactly like him. And

59:33

we brought it up to him. And

59:35

then it just went to that, you

59:37

know, the old like, I'll eat my

59:40

column. PFT, I were like, well, we'll

59:42

eat each other's asses. So, but you're

59:44

saying he probably can't. No, no, I'm

59:47

not. In fact, I'm rooting really hard

59:49

for it now. I'm gonna make sure

59:51

that like the juice, like the especially

59:53

juice balls are there for him. Oh,

59:56

yeah. Yeah. Okay. All right. So the

59:58

A.L. I feel like after I watched,

1:00:00

I watched the latest White Lotus last

1:00:03

night. Yeah. This is like a very

1:00:05

White Lotus conception. We'll show some people

1:00:07

off. We'll get back to Jeff passing

1:00:09

1:01:57

And now here's more. or Jeff Passon.

1:01:59

In the NL, can you give us,

1:02:02

like, who do you think, who should

1:02:04

be keeping an eye on for rookies?

1:02:06

Like, upstarts, that we're gonna want to

1:02:09

know their names, but we know their

1:02:11

names now because you just gave them

1:02:13

to us. Yeah. You know, the rookie

1:02:16

class this year. is not all that

1:02:18

great. On the national league side, the

1:02:20

guy who I picked, I mentioned him

1:02:22

a little earlier, is Bubba Chandler with

1:02:25

the Pirates. And I think you guys

1:02:27

will, I don't know if you saw

1:02:29

this story, but I think you'll appreciate

1:02:32

it. So Paul Skeens, you know, probably

1:02:34

the best pitcher in baseball right now,

1:02:36

after less than a year in the

1:02:38

big leagues, gets named opening day starter

1:02:41

for the Pirates. And Bubba Chandler was

1:02:43

a guy who I think he went

1:02:45

to Clemson to play football, got drafted,

1:02:48

was a two-way player, like just an

1:02:50

extraordinarily athletic guy, but Pirates made him

1:02:52

a full-time pitcher, fastball up to 100

1:02:55

now, great breaking stuff, good control and

1:02:57

commit, like he's going to be a

1:02:59

guy. I picked him to win rookie

1:03:01

of the year this year, but on

1:03:04

the day Paul Skeens was named opening

1:03:06

day starter. He got a text from

1:03:08

Bubba Chandler, and I don't have the

1:03:11

exact words, but it essentially said, enjoy

1:03:13

it while it lasts, because next year

1:03:15

I'm going to be starting opening day.

1:03:17

Wow, I love that. I adore that.

1:03:20

The guy hasn't thrown a pitch in

1:03:22

the big leagues yet, and he's got

1:03:24

the balls to text the guy who

1:03:27

is best at what they do right

1:03:29

now and say, get out of my

1:03:31

way. And that's, I mean. confidence, it's

1:03:33

swag. That's a dog. A big Bubba

1:03:36

Chandler fan already. Yeah, it's a great

1:03:38

bubble move too. Yeah, I like my

1:03:40

Bubba's a little cocky. Yes, absolutely. All

1:03:43

right, so what about the AL rookies?

1:03:45

We get, we, because PFT is right,

1:03:47

we just need to basically come away

1:03:50

from this and our listeners do where

1:03:52

they can just say, oh yeah, you're

1:03:54

about Bubba Chandler, he might be better

1:03:56

than Paul. American League. He started off

1:03:59

this season as potentially the second baseman

1:04:01

or the favorite going in for the

1:04:03

Red Sox after being minor league player

1:04:06

the year last year and he just

1:04:08

kind of stunk at the beginning of

1:04:10

spring training and there was you know

1:04:12

the the gloss wore off a little

1:04:15

bit but the Red Sox believe in

1:04:17

the bat and I understand why it's

1:04:19

an unorthodox swing but he's got incredible

1:04:22

contact skills and you know through through

1:04:24

this work I wrote a story about

1:04:26

this earlier this spring on Roman Anthony

1:04:28

Marcellemyre and Campbell the big three prospects

1:04:31

with the Red Sox and Boston's doing

1:04:33

like a bit different form of training

1:04:35

of hitters than there used to be

1:04:38

and hitting has fallen so far behind

1:04:40

pitching in Major League Baseball that it

1:04:42

is one of those things that's kind

1:04:45

of broken and could use some fixing.

1:04:47

And I think these guys with Campbell

1:04:49

actually winding up making the Red Sox

1:04:51

opening day roster, playing at second base,

1:04:54

forcing Alex, pregnant over a third, and

1:04:56

Raphael Devers to be DH. He's, you

1:04:58

know, he's the favorite, I would say,

1:05:01

at this point. Do not sleep on

1:05:03

Jackson Job, right-hander with the Detroit Tigers,

1:05:05

who's in their rotation, as well as

1:05:07

Cam Smith, who. Big Cat I think

1:05:10

you might know Cam Smith's name. He

1:05:12

was one of the players who went

1:05:14

to the Houston Astros and the Kyle

1:05:17

Tucker trade. Yeah. And less than a

1:05:19

year after being drafted, he's making the

1:05:21

Astros opening day roster and is going

1:05:23

to be their starting right fielder and

1:05:26

was one of the best hitters in

1:05:28

the Great Fruit League this spring. Oh,

1:05:30

that will be fun when the Cubs

1:05:33

don't resign. Yeah. That's going to be

1:05:35

a lot of fun. When Rick, it's

1:05:37

like, I can't find the money for

1:05:40

it, we just have so many restaurants

1:05:42

and luxury seating and Riggly now. All

1:05:44

right, so who's going to win the

1:05:46

ale? Like that, it is wide open.

1:05:49

Does it not, like, it feels like,

1:05:51

especially with Garrett Cole getting hurt, John

1:05:53

Carlos Stanton, I don't even think we

1:05:56

counted as an injury because it's kind

1:05:58

of to be expected. but it's a

1:06:00

weird injury too. What is that? He's

1:06:02

got issues with both elbows. Oh, we

1:06:05

talked about this. Yeah, that's right. My

1:06:07

dog had the same thing. I can

1:06:09

give you a little bit of insight.

1:06:12

My dog had bilateral elbow injuries, fixed

1:06:14

him up, or he's been about three

1:06:16

months in a crate, gave him a lot

1:06:18

of trasadone, anxiety medication. He

1:06:21

wore a cone. Then he got

1:06:23

out, he's good as new now. So have

1:06:25

the Yankees he's considered putting him

1:06:27

in a crate. John Carlow

1:06:29

Stanton in a cone of shame. It is

1:06:31

a weird, it's a really strange thing for

1:06:33

a baseball player to have like both elbows

1:06:35

give out at the exact same time. But

1:06:37

do the Yankees still have hope? Because they've

1:06:40

got other, they've got some really good

1:06:42

players. They've got a good roster still.

1:06:44

Yeah. The Yankees hope is the fact that

1:06:46

they reside in the American League. Because

1:06:48

if you drop them into the National

1:06:50

League, their fifth, sixth, seventh, seventh, eighth

1:06:53

best team. I, you know, before Garrett

1:06:55

Cole needed Tommy John surgery, I still

1:06:57

had the Yankees winning the American League

1:06:59

East. I do not have that as

1:07:01

the case anymore. I don't have them

1:07:03

making the playoffs. And I feel like

1:07:05

this is like potential asshole zone for

1:07:07

me because I didn't have them making

1:07:09

the playoffs last year either. And they

1:07:11

made it to the World Series. It's

1:07:13

not that I'm like. a Yankee hater

1:07:15

because I don't think that's the case.

1:07:17

I just look at them and there

1:07:20

are so few things with the Yankees

1:07:22

that I can point at and say,

1:07:24

yes, that is going to happen. I

1:07:26

know Aaron Judge is going to have

1:07:29

a very good year as long as

1:07:31

he's healthy. He has consistently done so.

1:07:33

and is going to be in the

1:07:35

Hall of Fame and is the best

1:07:38

hitter in baseball right now. But beyond

1:07:40

that, do I know that Austin Wells

1:07:42

is going to be a success at

1:07:44

leadoff hitter? I do not. Do

1:07:47

I know that Jazz Chisholm is

1:07:49

going to take that leap forward

1:07:51

we've been waiting years for? No.

1:07:54

Don't know that either. Don't know

1:07:56

about Anthony Volpi or Jason Dominguez.

1:07:59

Be a... top of the rotation

1:08:01

guy? How does Max Freed, who's been

1:08:03

consistently awesome throughout his career in Atlanta,

1:08:05

transition to New York? All of these

1:08:07

different things that are up in the

1:08:09

air, give me pause about the Yankees,

1:08:12

but I'll also acknowledge that if a

1:08:14

few of these things hit right, the

1:08:16

Yankees very easily could not only win

1:08:18

the American League East, but could win

1:08:20

the Pennant again. Like, this is a

1:08:22

team who's sealing. is pretty high still

1:08:25

even after the coal injury. But the

1:08:27

floor happens to be lower, I think,

1:08:29

than it is in typical years for

1:08:31

the Yankees. Okay. Okay. So what other

1:08:33

teams in the AL should be looking

1:08:35

out for in terms of like, hey,

1:08:38

this team, maybe people aren't talking

1:08:40

about them, but this is a team

1:08:42

that if everything goes right, they could be

1:08:44

in the mix come October. I

1:08:46

apologize for doing like a long checklist

1:08:48

here, but that's how wide open the

1:08:50

American League is. It's like, I mean,

1:08:52

you can make an argument for every

1:08:54

team. Tampa Bay, Shane McClanahan, turns out,

1:08:56

isn't that hurt, coming back from Tommy

1:08:58

John's surgery now and headlining a really

1:09:00

good rotation and an excellent bullpen, Junior

1:09:02

Camenero with the rays is going to

1:09:04

be a superstar and this is going

1:09:06

to be his first full season playing.

1:09:08

So I can see the rays doing

1:09:10

it. The Blue Jays. I have them

1:09:12

at the bottom of the bottom of

1:09:14

the A. right now, but if Vlad

1:09:16

Guerrero and Boboushette have the years that they

1:09:19

have, Vlad last year and both the years

1:09:21

before that, they're both impending free agents, they

1:09:23

could lead the teams of the playoffs. The

1:09:25

Red Sox, I have winning the division, I

1:09:28

feel good about what they did, getting Garrett

1:09:30

Crochet and Alex pregnant this winter. And let's

1:09:32

not forget about the Orioles who won 101

1:09:34

games a couple years ago and made the

1:09:37

playoffs last season. I think people are sleeping

1:09:39

on them a little bit. In the Central,

1:09:41

the Twins, the Twins, bad year last year,

1:09:43

always questions about health. But they've got a

1:09:46

lot of slugging that lineup and they're

1:09:48

starting pitching with Pablo Lopez and Bailey

1:09:50

Ober at the top of that rotation.

1:09:52

They have a chance to be pretty

1:09:54

good. Kansas City made the playoffs last

1:09:56

year. Great pitching and my pick for

1:09:58

American League MVP Bobby Witt. I've got

1:10:00

Detroit winning the Central with Terrick

1:10:02

Scuba and so many other great

1:10:04

starting pitchers in that rotation. And

1:10:06

AJ Hinch is a manager just

1:10:08

like he gets how to construct

1:10:10

lineups and use the platoon advantage

1:10:12

in his favor. Cleveland won the

1:10:14

division last year. I'm not really

1:10:17

on them, but they're also one

1:10:19

of those teams. That surprises. Seattle

1:10:21

playoffs two years ago 88 and

1:10:23

85 wins the last two seasons

1:10:25

a great starting rotation and today

1:10:27

they sign Cal Raleigh to an

1:10:29

extension Cal Raleigh's nickname is Big

1:10:31

Dumper because he's got a fat-ass

1:10:33

and it's like honestly it's the

1:10:35

best nickname in baseball right now

1:10:37

and love love him as a

1:10:39

player won a Platinum glove leader

1:10:41

in the clubhouse the A's are

1:10:43

going to be better this year

1:10:45

I'm not sure if they're a

1:10:47

playoff team quite yet the Astros

1:10:49

seemingly always are a playoff team

1:10:51

and You know, trading Kyle Tucker

1:10:53

and getting Camp Smith back, in

1:10:55

addition to Eastock Paradeus, who's going

1:10:57

to absolutely abuse the short porch

1:10:59

and left field, the Astros still have

1:11:02

a chance to be good. But the

1:11:04

team I'm picking to win the pennant

1:11:06

is the Texas Rangers. They won the

1:11:08

World Series two years ago. They were

1:11:10

pretty awful last year, but they get

1:11:12

Jacob DeGrom back to headline that rotation

1:11:15

this season. You know, Kumar Rocker and

1:11:17

Jack Light are both really good young

1:11:19

arms. And when you look at the

1:11:21

lineup that Corey Seeger and Marcus

1:11:23

Simeon up the middle, Josh Young

1:11:25

at third base, they traded for

1:11:27

Jake Berger at first base, Wyatt

1:11:29

Lankford, Evan Carter in the outfield,

1:11:31

they have good catching with. Jonah

1:11:33

Hime and Kyle Goshiyoka, like on

1:11:35

and on. If the Rangers bullpen

1:11:37

can perform, or if at the

1:11:39

trade deadline they can go out and

1:11:42

get some high end relief arms, I

1:11:44

think they have probably the highest ceiling

1:11:46

in. Okay, so there were two teams

1:11:49

you didn't mention, White Sox, we don't

1:11:51

have to talk about because they're,

1:11:53

I mean, they're a joke, Jerry Rinesorf

1:11:56

should sell the team. The other one, Mike

1:11:58

Trout, he's gonna be back. Could this

1:12:00

be the year? You know, I remember

1:12:02

I went to spring training with the

1:12:05

angels on the day trout was

1:12:07

going to talk two years ago

1:12:09

for the first time. And it

1:12:11

had been coming off a season

1:12:13

where he'd gotten hurt, which has

1:12:15

been sadly like an all too

1:12:17

frequent thing lately. And we posed

1:12:19

him the question like, do you

1:12:21

have any inclination to leave? Would

1:12:23

you waive your no trade clause?

1:12:26

to go to a contender. And

1:12:28

he said, I feel like I

1:12:30

have unfinished business here. Now, he

1:12:32

hasn't said anything to the contrary

1:12:34

since, but like guys, we gotta

1:12:36

remember, Mike Trout is 33 years old

1:12:38

now. I'm not gonna say he's entirely

1:12:40

past his prime because I think if

1:12:42

we have like a full healthy year

1:12:45

of Mike Trout, he can still be

1:12:47

a guy who puts up a thousand

1:12:49

OPS and looks like one of the

1:12:51

best players in the game. But he's

1:12:53

been around for 14 years now. He's

1:12:55

had 14 years of Artie Moreno

1:12:58

bullshit. And it just goes to

1:13:00

show you the importance of ownership.

1:13:02

I don't know if this is

1:13:05

the same way in other sports.

1:13:07

You guys can tell me in

1:13:09

football especially. because like I don't

1:13:11

know who's considered the good owners or

1:13:14

the bad owners in football but the

1:13:16

way that Artie Moreno has run the

1:13:18

Los Angeles Angels in the 20 or

1:13:20

so years he's on the team and

1:13:22

especially over the last decade and a

1:13:24

half since Mike Trout's been around like

1:13:26

let's look at it this way they

1:13:29

had Mike Trout in his prime with

1:13:31

Shohe Otani for six years and

1:13:33

they did not make the postseason

1:13:35

once. That is It's insane. As

1:13:37

somebody who was, you know,

1:13:40

the biggest Mike Trout stand

1:13:42

imaginable during his best years,

1:13:44

you know, the year that Miguel Cabrera

1:13:47

wins the triple crown, I'm arguing

1:13:49

that Trout should have been MVP

1:13:51

anyway, because I, like, that wasn't

1:13:53

just like a, you know, hot

1:13:56

take, I just, he was a

1:13:58

better player that year. Cabrera did

1:14:00

was incredible. Trout was just

1:14:02

better than him. It saddens

1:14:04

me that Mike Trout might never know

1:14:07

what winning feels like. Yeah. Because what

1:14:09

are we doing this for? Like what's

1:14:11

the whole purpose of athletes going

1:14:13

out? There's the individual accomplishment that

1:14:15

you want. They're the goals you

1:14:18

set and that you try to

1:14:20

meet. And that gives you some

1:14:22

feeling of fulfillment. But at the end

1:14:24

of the day... You want to win something

1:14:26

with the people who you spend

1:14:29

seven or eight months in close

1:14:31

proximity with, with some of your

1:14:33

best friends in the world, because

1:14:35

coming together as a team and

1:14:37

achieving something like that beats anything

1:14:39

you can do individually. And Mike

1:14:41

Trout simply has never had that

1:14:43

in his professional career. Yeah, you won

1:14:45

the Super Bowl this year, though. He's

1:14:47

pumped for his eagles. Yeah, yeah, but you're

1:14:50

right. It's like, how could that not

1:14:52

get to you on a day-to-day, year basis?

1:14:54

You go to work every day, you don't

1:14:56

win, your teammates are bummed out

1:14:58

a lot. I would like to see him win.

1:15:00

I'd like to see Mike Trout go to

1:15:03

a better place, a place that'll take

1:15:05

care of him. I don't know what team

1:15:07

that would be, where he would want

1:15:09

to go, but yeah, maybe the unfinished

1:15:11

business is like, yeah, they send me

1:15:13

my check every two weeks and it's

1:15:16

pretty good check. So I'm going to

1:15:18

continue with that business. Do you

1:15:20

think is Rendon going to play at

1:15:22

all this here? he is that guy

1:15:24

yeah that guy's amazing yeah i mean

1:15:27

he really he really really is amazing

1:15:29

like there there were two contracts the

1:15:31

winter he signed with the angels

1:15:33

that were for seven years

1:15:35

and 245 million dollars it

1:15:37

was Anthony Rendon and it

1:15:40

was Stephen Strasbourg and the total

1:15:42

production that their teams are going

1:15:44

to get for the half billion

1:15:46

or so dollars that they spent

1:15:48

on those players it's unbelievable and

1:15:51

and and it shows why like

1:15:53

Owners in baseball are so hesitant

1:15:55

to give out deals like that. I

1:15:57

get it because they can go sideways.

1:15:59

so fast and in in Rendon's

1:16:01

case like I'm not going to

1:16:04

say he never liked playing baseball

1:16:06

because I don't think that's true.

1:16:08

But it was never like his

1:16:10

passion. It was never what he

1:16:12

lived for. He was never like

1:16:14

a grinder. He was just extraordinarily

1:16:16

talented at something, got paid an

1:16:18

obscene amount of money, and hasn't

1:16:20

been able to get back out

1:16:23

there. Yeah. What about the Astros?

1:16:25

No matter what we do, no

1:16:27

matter what we do, we'll never

1:16:29

get rid of the Astros. They'll

1:16:31

never get rid of the Astros.

1:16:33

They're always going to be hanging

1:16:35

around. They're going to be pesky.

1:16:37

They're going to be showing up

1:16:39

in the post-up. I mean, there's

1:16:41

no one left really. Like, after

1:16:44

Bregman left this off season, it's

1:16:46

like Jose Altouve and Lance McCullers

1:16:48

are really the only ones left

1:16:50

from the cheating team. And, and.

1:16:52

you know altoofa is going to

1:16:54

be there forever like he's the

1:16:56

the Astro of lifetime Astros but

1:16:58

they still have your nauveres who

1:17:00

is one of the best hitters

1:17:02

in baseball and adding camsmith uh...

1:17:05

has you know has sort of

1:17:07

reinvigorated potentially that lineup and they've

1:17:09

still got fromreveldes uh... spencer aragetti

1:17:11

hunter brown like the Astros have

1:17:13

done a good job of developing

1:17:15

starting pitching as you saw carlos

1:17:17

korea and George Springer and some

1:17:19

of the court you know Alex

1:17:21

Bregman, the core guys of not

1:17:23

just the cheating championship but the

1:17:26

one they won after that as

1:17:28

well. But yeah, the the Astros,

1:17:30

they're an interesting organization because it's

1:17:32

it's one of those teams where

1:17:34

other like people from other organizations

1:17:36

love shitting on the Astros. Like

1:17:38

absolutely love it. And I think

1:17:40

some of it goes back to

1:17:42

the cheating, but some of it

1:17:44

they just don't believe that they're

1:17:47

particularly well run, and yet they

1:17:49

make that trade with Tucker, and

1:17:51

it's immediately paying dividends. Yeah. All

1:17:53

right, Jeff, I got one last

1:17:55

question for you. This has been

1:17:57

fun. I'm ready for baseball. There's

1:17:59

always something about opening day. That

1:18:01

just, it just, it feels good.

1:18:03

It's a fun day. Robak question.

1:18:05

You know, you know, Big Cat,

1:18:08

you know what it is? It

1:18:10

is spring telling us it has

1:18:12

arrived. You're right. That's what it

1:18:14

is. In spring, I don't know

1:18:16

how you guys feel about spring,

1:18:18

but living in the Midwest, spring

1:18:20

is when the sun starts coming

1:18:22

out. I walk outside in spring,

1:18:24

you know, I can wear shorts

1:18:26

and t-shirts in the middle of

1:18:29

the winter because I don't know

1:18:31

when it happened that children's skin

1:18:33

suddenly became impervious to cold weather.

1:18:35

I feel like this is a

1:18:37

new generation. I don't know if

1:18:39

your kids are like that. My

1:18:41

kids fight me with coats every

1:18:43

day and it's just like, it's

1:18:45

like 10 degrees. I'm like, you

1:18:47

need a coat. They're like, it's

1:18:50

not that cold. Like, what are

1:18:52

you talking about? But no, you

1:18:54

go outside and you see the

1:18:56

sun every day and I think

1:18:58

that's why opening day feels good

1:19:00

because it is introducing us to

1:19:02

the season that makes us happy.

1:19:04

Yeah, I'd agree. I'd agree. I'd

1:19:06

agree. All right. So rowback question

1:19:08

R.H.O. B.A.C.com. Promocote. watch as much

1:19:11

of the other sports, but I

1:19:13

assume that you are at least

1:19:15

generally aware of Travis Hunter who

1:19:17

played for Colorado this year, gonna

1:19:19

be a top pick, Heisman Trophy

1:19:21

winner. If you had to just

1:19:23

make a, just a gun to

1:19:25

your head, Travis Hunter or Show

1:19:27

Hey Otani, who's more impressive at

1:19:29

what they're doing? Show He

1:19:32

Otani because he has done it at

1:19:34

the big league level and I don't,

1:19:36

by the way, to be clear, Travis

1:19:39

Hunter absolutely should play cornerback and wide

1:19:41

receiver in the NFL. 100% if you

1:19:43

have the ability to have a guy

1:19:46

out there who can impact both sides

1:19:48

of the ball, why would you limit

1:19:50

him from doing so? Particularly if he's

1:19:53

on a rookie contract, which is short

1:19:55

enough where you're not locking him up

1:19:57

long-term. and you're not going to have

1:20:00

any of like the wear and tear

1:20:02

issues later on in life, it's the

1:20:04

NFL, you can get rid of them

1:20:07

anyway. Contracts aren't guaranteed. But Otani being

1:20:09

elite at both levels, at the highest

1:20:11

level of baseball, if Travis Hunter can

1:20:14

be an all-pro cornerback and an all-pro

1:20:16

wide receiver in the same season, Get

1:20:18

back to me and we'll have a

1:20:21

conversation. And I am not minimizing in

1:20:23

any way. He's awesome. I love watching

1:20:25

him play, but it's just a matter

1:20:28

of levels, I think. Counterpoint, Otani doesn't

1:20:30

tackle anybody. And Otani has never won

1:20:32

a Heisman. Both true. Hunters never won

1:20:35

an MVP and I'd like to see

1:20:37

him hit a 95 mile per hour

1:20:39

fastball or throw a ball 95. Good

1:20:41

point. Good point. Good point. Yeah, our

1:20:44

producer Hank is an idiot and he

1:20:46

said that he thought Travis Hunter was

1:20:48

more impressive than Joe. And we were

1:20:51

like, hey dude. I didn't know your

1:20:53

analingus. Christian Yellich, sorry, but I did

1:20:55

know that Hank's addiction. Perfect. Perfect. Well,

1:20:58

Jeff, thank you. Oh, is it? When

1:21:00

is Otani going to start pitching again?

1:21:02

He's been shut down for like a

1:21:05

month now, so he's going to have

1:21:07

to build up. And let's remember, he's

1:21:09

coming off of his second elbow reconstruction.

1:21:12

So the Dodgers are going to take

1:21:14

it easy with him. And they also

1:21:16

have so much pitching depth that they

1:21:19

really don't need him. So is it

1:21:21

can happen in May as expected? It

1:21:23

could, but I think it all just

1:21:26

really depends on how his elbow responds

1:21:28

and we're going to get a much

1:21:30

better sense of that over the next

1:21:33

month. Yeah, it's all man. I had

1:21:35

one last last thing about mooky bats

1:21:37

because I've been reading about mooky bats

1:21:40

Did he lose 25 pounds? He got

1:21:42

did he have the flu? He went

1:21:44

down from like 185 to 160 Yeah,

1:21:47

I don't think it was quite that

1:21:49

much weight and I don't think it

1:21:51

was the flu. They haven't said what

1:21:54

it is specifically, but the sense is

1:21:56

he's going to play in their actual

1:21:58

opening day stateside. So I listen, baseball

1:22:00

is better when mooky bets is good.

1:22:03

Yeah, and I hope nothing but a

1:22:05

full recovery there and I'm seeing him,

1:22:07

you know, even if the Dodgers are

1:22:10

bad for baseball, like seeing Mookie Betts

1:22:12

out there is a good thing for

1:22:14

everyone. Yeah, that's why it's not fair

1:22:17

because Mookie Betts is so likable and

1:22:19

he's playing for the team that everyone

1:22:21

should hate. It's like, God damn it,

1:22:24

I want to hate you, but yeah,

1:22:26

Mookie's, I hope he's okay too. Bubba,

1:22:28

Bubba, Chandler, Bubba, Chandler, Yep, Bubba, I

1:22:31

just call them Bubba. Watch out, hey,

1:22:33

Paul Skeens is good, but Bubba, Chandler

1:22:35

might be better. You know what? Paul

1:22:38

Schenes is great, but Bubba, Chandler has

1:22:40

it. Yeah, that's it. We got it,

1:22:42

that's the takeaway. Yeah. You can't teach

1:22:45

it. I look forward to talking with

1:22:47

you guys on the day that home

1:22:49

run derby rosters are released. Yes. No,

1:22:52

I have my mission for the 2000

1:22:54

point. You said it. The hardest thing

1:22:56

to do in base, the hardest thing

1:22:59

to do in sports is to hit

1:23:01

a baseball. That's impossible for Christian Yellick.

1:23:03

Can't do it. Can't do it. All

1:23:06

right, thanks so much, Jeff. Appa was

1:25:06

wrap up, we got Fire Fest of

1:25:09

the week. Henry. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, severance

1:25:11

recap. Yeah, I like this. Max cried.

1:25:13

Max, what part did you cry when

1:25:16

he got reunited with his wife? Yep.

1:25:18

Yeah. Yeah. So severance, severance, severance, spoilers,

1:25:20

spoilers, spoilers. Skip this part if you

1:25:23

haven't watched it, but you also probably

1:25:25

have watched it. Good call. Thank God

1:25:27

we got that. So you cried? Yeah,

1:25:30

it's an emotional part. Like imagine thinking

1:25:32

that your wife is dead for start

1:25:34

for... such a long period of time

1:25:37

and then like that first moment that

1:25:39

you actually realize like realize that she's

1:25:41

alive like how could you possibly like

1:25:43

put yourself into that situation it's got

1:25:46

to be an unbelievably emotional moment. I

1:25:48

got uh I got misty-eyed I don't

1:25:50

think there were any tears no no

1:25:53

I felt that I felt like when

1:25:55

Mark S. shot the big dude in

1:25:57

the neck. That was so fucking funny.

1:26:00

Yeah. And just screaming at the other

1:26:02

lady. Yeah. I thought there was a

1:26:04

moment, Hank was gonna be right. That

1:26:07

there was just gonna, that he was

1:26:09

gonna go on a killing spree. I

1:26:11

just kill everybody down there and just

1:26:14

kill everybody down there and just kill

1:26:16

everybody down there and I was like,

1:26:18

oh my god, we laughed at Hank,

1:26:21

but he was right. I thought there

1:26:23

was a moment, Hank was gonna be

1:26:25

right. And then you guys, like, you

1:26:28

just want Game of Thrones, Brian of

1:26:30

Tarth, we got it. Yeah, yeah. We

1:26:32

got the Game of Thrones, like, that

1:26:35

was, that was also electric, although the

1:26:37

goats thing, like, explain the goats. They

1:26:39

just go to the sacrifice. They sacrifice

1:26:42

them with, any time someone dies at

1:26:44

Lumen, which seems like a decent amount

1:26:46

of times, because they've, I have a

1:26:49

lot of goats out there. They sacrifice

1:26:51

the goat with the person, and it

1:26:53

takes them to heaven to heaven or

1:26:56

something. Did you also notice that in

1:26:58

the earlier episode where they had the

1:27:00

goats and the people that look after

1:27:02

the goats? They asked the people from

1:27:05

the outside for macro data refining. Do

1:27:07

you guys have pouches? Yeah. They were

1:27:09

looking for oldie. Yeah. That's what they

1:27:12

were like, they were like, look up

1:27:14

your shirt. Let me see your bags.

1:27:16

What Hank, I think, is referring to,

1:27:19

and I agree with Hank, low-key. I

1:27:21

thought that Helli was Helena on the

1:27:23

inside during that episode, at least at

1:27:26

the start, until she like... kind of

1:27:28

teams up with Mark and he goes

1:27:30

on a separate way. I thought that

1:27:33

we were going to see outy helly

1:27:35

on the inside again. She can't be

1:27:37

outy down on that floor though. No

1:27:40

she was. She was early in the

1:27:42

season. She banged Mark in the teepee.

1:27:44

Yeah. No, that was when she was

1:27:47

any. No, no, that was Audi. You

1:27:49

get, you're not paying attention. You're not

1:27:51

paying attention. You don't know. Hold on.

1:27:54

Oh, yeah. Big cat missed a big

1:27:56

part of this season. Banged any helly

1:27:58

and outta. I know that. He's got

1:28:01

two bodies on one body. He had

1:28:03

a thresum. The Audi one was outside.

1:28:05

No. No, that whole. Until that outside

1:28:08

moment, the whole beginning of the season,

1:28:10

she was out with the outy hell.

1:28:12

She was still outy. No, you don't,

1:28:14

because she was outy helly when she

1:28:17

was on the inside. She would undercover.

1:28:19

Yeah, that entire part of the season.

1:28:21

Even on the inside, not just on

1:28:24

the ort bough. He fucked out, outy

1:28:26

helly, outside. Yes. You guys just told

1:28:28

me I was wrong for that. No,

1:28:31

I literally just said no, but the

1:28:33

Orpo is also totally inside You guys

1:28:35

just told me that I was wrong

1:28:38

for saying that she fucked outy helly

1:28:40

outside and any helly inside No, like

1:28:42

you say outside you mean it would

1:28:45

still I know I might have been

1:28:47

wrong. She can't she can't be switched

1:28:49

back, but I literally just said she

1:28:52

fucked any helly outside and any helly

1:28:54

Correct. But we're talking about two different

1:28:56

things here. I understand. Well you said

1:28:59

any, you said Audi Helli can't go

1:29:01

downstairs. She, I'm now remembering the beginning

1:29:03

of the season. She was, she was

1:29:06

faking it. Yeah, I thought that's what

1:29:08

we were seeing. When was that? That

1:29:10

was like the first couple episodes. When

1:29:13

Irving was getting mad suspicious when he

1:29:15

was like, you saw a night guard?

1:29:17

Nightgarn? Yeah. When

1:29:19

she said that she saw a gardener when

1:29:22

when she got that glimpse of the outside

1:29:24

that's right override control Yeah, that's what Irving

1:29:26

was like I'm beginning to I'm beginning to

1:29:29

keep my eye on you and then he

1:29:31

tried to kill her because he knew that

1:29:33

she was outside I thought we were going

1:29:35

to see outy helly I thought that's who

1:29:38

we were seeing at the start of the

1:29:40

finale I thought that's who we were seeing

1:29:42

at the start of the Gemma and Erv

1:29:44

said out any hell he was never cruel

1:29:47

and it was kind of a cruel looking

1:29:49

smile when she looked at Gemma was like

1:29:51

I won. Yeah, that's what I was so

1:29:54

I was thinking when I was So I

1:29:56

people think that they once they realized that

1:29:58

Mark was down there and getting Gemma that

1:30:00

they switched Mark to go on and go

1:30:03

downstairs and do that whole shit and I

1:30:05

was like maybe it's maybe I was wrong

1:30:07

maybe it's not and then at the end

1:30:10

I was like yeah that kind of seems

1:30:12

like outy helly so I I people think

1:30:14

that they once they realized that Mark was

1:30:16

down there and getting Gemma that they switched

1:30:19

the block that they that at the very

1:30:21

end they made her outy helly okay but

1:30:23

it but it was any helly the rest

1:30:26

of the episode now i just wonder what

1:30:28

they're gonna do in the episode or season

1:30:30

three yeah it's like gonna be him and

1:30:32

helly just like hold up in a room

1:30:35

with like a bunch of dead people and

1:30:37

like a bunch of dead people and like

1:30:39

blood everywhere it's got to be like five

1:30:42

seconds into them running down the hallway they're

1:30:44

like whops no i think they're to kind

1:30:46

of set it up with the dad being

1:30:48

like he likes any kind of convert any

1:30:51

helli in any mark to convince them that

1:30:53

if they roll with the cures and they

1:30:55

can stay together. Yeah, I really like the

1:30:57

scene where Mark was arguing with himself on

1:31:00

the video camera. Like stepping outside the room,

1:31:02

that was a really good way to do

1:31:04

it. And I don't think I could win

1:31:07

an argument with myself. I think that's a

1:31:09

very hard thing to do. No. Right? That's

1:31:11

how I feel when I'm deciding to bet

1:31:13

on a basketball game. I don't know why

1:31:16

he didn't just mention the peat. Like they

1:31:18

had a mutual there's a mutual friend there.

1:31:20

Yeah, but he doesn't but he doesn't but

1:31:23

outy mark doesn't fully understand how close any

1:31:25

mark was with Pete I Guess because he

1:31:27

remember he like just went like it was

1:31:29

a crazy guy who had nosebleeds Who then

1:31:32

went to his funeral? Yeah, I guess that

1:31:34

makes sense that that did make sense to

1:31:36

me the other thing that it was two

1:31:39

episodes ago. It kind of bled into this

1:31:41

one that that still just makes no sense

1:31:43

to me. I hope they like flashback to

1:31:45

it is the fact that is the fact

1:31:48

that Coble and Mark and his sister just

1:31:50

sat in the woods for 10 hours arguing

1:31:52

they weren't even but what did they talk

1:31:55

about like why did they have to show

1:31:57

up to the forest to or like I

1:31:59

don't know if it's 10 hours but yeah

1:32:01

they got there in the morning and then

1:32:04

they cut back and it was nighttime like

1:32:06

all right time to go well it's always

1:32:08

winter yeah it's always winter and what is

1:32:10

it about the birthing center that they put

1:32:13

the like geo fencing and they can switch

1:32:15

you back from any doubt yeah that was

1:32:17

weird and then the well so that women

1:32:20

don't remember that they went through the pain

1:32:22

again okay that was the whole Remember the

1:32:24

crazy like government governor's wife? She had no

1:32:26

recollection of the sister because she went in

1:32:29

there so she didn't have to actually give

1:32:31

birth. When any mark told Cobell that Irving

1:32:33

knew where the testing floor was like she

1:32:36

got scared. That made me think that Cobell

1:32:38

was going to flip again. Yeah. Because she

1:32:40

was like, oh yeah, Irving knows where the

1:32:42

floor is and she goes, wait, she was

1:32:45

basically like, wait, what? Mm-hmm. She was like

1:32:47

a nice in front of that fire. Yeah,

1:32:49

she did. She looked real good real nice.

1:32:52

She gave you those eyes real nice I

1:32:54

was pissed that like I don't know I

1:32:56

guess he had to he had to make

1:32:58

that decision because there are two different people

1:33:01

but I was mad Yeah, I really like

1:33:03

the episode. I thought it was one I

1:33:05

did too. I was the best episode I

1:33:08

was just pissing him. I was just like

1:33:10

you motherfucker you've come all this way. But

1:33:12

he also that's the great. That's the great.

1:33:14

That's the great. That's the great part about

1:33:17

the great part about the great part about

1:33:19

the great part about the show about the

1:33:21

show about the show about the show about

1:33:23

the show. Like he's making a decision for

1:33:26

his own existence not realizing that There's a

1:33:28

guy out there. Yeah. Yeah, and think about

1:33:30

if you're the any market you turn around

1:33:33

and you see I guess you would think

1:33:35

it was the What was what was her

1:33:37

name the health woman not not Gemma miss

1:33:39

what was her name? What was her name?

1:33:42

I can't remember. fuck Wang? No. Miss Casey?

1:33:44

Yes, Miss Casey. So you just see Miss

1:33:46

Casey yelling at it through a door being

1:33:49

like, come out, come out, come out. He's

1:33:51

come out. There's got to be a way

1:33:53

where he can have both. Yeah. Episode 3

1:33:55

is just all three sums. Well, can't... I

1:33:58

could see them like figuring out a way,

1:34:00

because obviously if Cobell invented... the chip could

1:34:02

she like flip a switch to turn outy

1:34:05

mark into any mark so we can get

1:34:07

out or you think she's gonna get back

1:34:09

in the lab oh i was saying so

1:34:11

he wakes up his outy mark on the

1:34:14

floor he's like fuck i got to get

1:34:16

out here yeah yeah yeah i don't know

1:34:18

great show and ricken there there there's a

1:34:21

lot there's a lot i think they're gonna

1:34:23

i think we're getting a full flashback season

1:34:25

episode series like they there's so much like

1:34:28

10 years ago pass stuff that they

1:34:30

need to address that I think to

1:34:32

stretch it out I could see them

1:34:34

going like deep deep in it because

1:34:36

Rickin I would watch a full spinoff

1:34:38

series about Rickin. Yeah, what a weird.

1:34:40

He's fucking funny. Yeah, he is funny

1:34:43

All right firepress the week Oh, also

1:34:45

white Lotus. Did you see Duke is?

1:34:47

It's very upset. That's all right. No

1:34:49

spoilers for White Lotus is still ongoing,

1:34:51

but very funny. Well, traditionally the best

1:34:53

way to have people avoid seeing the

1:34:55

thing that you're embarrassed about is to

1:34:57

threaten legal action against them. And then

1:34:59

that way, they won't sign up to

1:35:01

see what all the fuss is. People

1:35:04

will stop talking about it. Yeah. Okay.

1:35:06

I think I've said this on my

1:35:08

firepress before, and it probably means it's

1:35:10

time to just get a new, uh,

1:35:12

new slats or like a new bedframe.

1:35:14

I plopped onto my bed again. I

1:35:16

went to take a pistol midnight, just

1:35:18

kind of fell into my bed, slats

1:35:20

pushed down and broke and it was

1:35:22

like 4am and so I just went

1:35:24

to sleep basically inverted. And my neck

1:35:27

is killing me. I got a solution

1:35:29

for you. What's that? Sleep in a

1:35:31

hammock. Yeah. You don't have to worry

1:35:33

about slats in a hammock. True. Do

1:35:35

you have to worry about getting just

1:35:37

bald up and dying? Yeah, and I

1:35:39

feel like it's bad for my your

1:35:41

back. But no, I think it's interesting.

1:35:43

I think it's good for your back

1:35:45

for yeah long-term eight hours a night

1:35:47

every night Yeah, I think it's good

1:35:50

for your back one hour somewhere in

1:35:52

the middle of the day. There's nothing

1:35:54

better on this planet. You're saying laying

1:35:56

on something more firm would probably be

1:35:58

better for your body like for eight

1:36:00

hours a night every night yeah I

1:36:02

think you guys are one hour break

1:36:04

in the summer I'd take a hammock

1:36:06

over anything I think you guys are

1:36:08

denying science I think hammocks are better

1:36:10

for your back and how so I

1:36:13

think that I've been reading a lot

1:36:15

of pro-hamic propaganda. Okay. And many people

1:36:17

on the various message boards that I've

1:36:19

read have said things like, ever since

1:36:21

I started sleeping on a hammock, my

1:36:23

back pain is non-existent. These are people

1:36:25

who are pro-hamic. Pro-hamic. What's on, like,

1:36:27

reddit.com/hammocks. Yeah. Or hammackfans.com. Hey, I got

1:36:29

some new outdoor furniture coming. I can't

1:36:31

wait for you to sit on it.

1:36:34

No, he's not allowed. I think he's

1:36:36

not allowed. It's gonna be great. You're

1:36:38

gonna have a great time. Yeah, it's

1:36:40

fine. I just seemed like a simple

1:36:42

chair, but whatever you got. Oh, he's

1:36:44

a simple chair, okay. I can get

1:36:46

you more than that. Just give you

1:36:48

a beach share. Best outdoor furniture there

1:36:50

is. Beach chair now is the best

1:36:52

outdoor furniture. It's all about what you're

1:36:54

sitting on. Right. Okay. Beach Chair. Make

1:36:57

sure if you get a hammock that

1:36:59

you hang at at about 30 degrees

1:37:01

hang angle with an asymmetric delay. And

1:37:03

then you're going to get rid of

1:37:05

your back pain. All right, good to

1:37:07

know. Okay, what's your fireface? PFD? My

1:37:09

fireface of the week is, I realized

1:37:11

this, I believe on Sunday of this

1:37:13

week, but I went to a concert

1:37:15

like four or five months ago. And

1:37:17

I had a great time and I

1:37:20

got in the mood to see more

1:37:22

live music so I looked up to

1:37:24

see who was coming to Chicago in

1:37:26

the next like six months and I

1:37:28

proceeded to I was drunk at the

1:37:30

time and up bought eight tickets to

1:37:32

go see AC DC at soldier field

1:37:34

eight really nice seats and Then the

1:37:36

person that I bought him with turns

1:37:38

out it's going to be out of

1:37:41

town for the AC DC concert. So

1:37:43

now I got seven tickets that I

1:37:45

got to find people to to bring

1:37:47

along to go see AC DC in

1:37:49

Chicago and I realized especially in the

1:37:51

office that seven tickets is the perfect

1:37:53

amount to have people not like you

1:37:55

if they don't get the invite because

1:37:57

it's a big enough group where it's

1:37:59

like oh anybody that he likes should

1:38:01

be invited right if I'm not invited

1:38:04

I'm not part of the crew right

1:38:06

and I I was saying this the

1:38:08

other day to mincey and mincey just

1:38:10

put his hand up he said stop

1:38:12

right now I'm coming with you so

1:38:14

I mentioned this entire that's great so

1:38:16

mincey said like right off the bat

1:38:18

like no if fans or but he

1:38:20

is locked he said it like nine

1:38:22

times he was like just say no

1:38:24

i'm definite i'm a definite yes so

1:38:27

mence is going to come and then

1:38:29

Megan was listening to me so her

1:38:31

and her husband mr making money yep

1:38:33

are coming but now i got to

1:38:35

figure out what to do with the

1:38:37

remaining tickets remaining five tickets because again

1:38:39

this is like you're in remember the

1:38:41

club cool days in New York yeah

1:38:43

it's like if you don't get the

1:38:45

invitation then PFT doesn't like you That

1:38:47

was also very, I mean, the club

1:38:50

cool day is one of the funny.

1:38:52

I actually randomly was thinking about it

1:38:54

today. I think that was the only

1:38:56

time I went out in New York.

1:38:58

Yeah. It was like the first week

1:39:00

we were there and then Dave got

1:39:02

mad. And Dave went out and created

1:39:04

his own club cool. Yeah. Well, you

1:39:06

guys are massive Kanye fans. Yeah. You

1:39:08

were there. Club cool? You weren't? No.

1:39:11

Well, did you moved already? Yeah. Connie,

1:39:13

Connie is not my guy. Maybe he's

1:39:15

not my guy. Maybe he's your guy.

1:39:17

I don't remember who was there. Yeah,

1:39:19

I wish I'd gone. It was really

1:39:21

I think I was out of town

1:39:23

that weekend. But yeah, so all right.

1:39:25

So what's what's rank top to your

1:39:27

top six favorite co-workers? Well, so that's

1:39:29

the problem is like if if I

1:39:31

don't. We'll just sound it out. Yeah,

1:39:34

go one through 10. I'm gonna say

1:39:36

everybody in this room. Tide. Nice. Oh,

1:39:38

we're just tied. Oh, if you want

1:39:40

to go see a CDC right now,

1:39:42

you guys. I think we have Dibs.

1:39:44

You guys have Dibs, but did you

1:39:46

talk to Greer? I did not. So

1:39:48

that's the other thing that comes into

1:39:50

this is that Greer is having his

1:39:52

bachelor party in Chicago that weekend and

1:39:54

they are going to. ACDC as part

1:39:57

of the bachelor party. But then I

1:39:59

thought about that and then I'm like,

1:40:01

is that weird where if I if

1:40:03

I give the tickets around me to

1:40:05

people in Greer's bachelor party, am I

1:40:07

inviting myself onto Greer's bachelor party? No.

1:40:09

Greer would absolutely love that. Yeah, okay.

1:40:11

And also it doesn't have to be

1:40:13

Greer, it could be like, it could

1:40:15

just be other people from this office

1:40:17

that are just going with you. Then

1:40:20

I'm going to the bachelor part. Correct.

1:40:22

And it's also such an easy out

1:40:24

just being like, oh, well, it's Greer's

1:40:26

bachelor party. It's a it's a gift

1:40:28

to Greer. Yeah, for okay, and getting

1:40:30

married. All right, you know what? That's

1:40:32

the easiest way. As my wedding present

1:40:34

to Greer, who's getting real married, not

1:40:36

at all a green card marriage, I

1:40:38

would like to donate four tickets to

1:40:41

ACDC to his bachelor party. Well, if

1:40:43

you would like it. Damn. And I'm

1:40:45

keeping four. And I'm keeping four. Yeah,

1:40:47

so bad. You kind of invited me

1:40:49

the other day and I kind of

1:40:51

said, yes. Well, do you want to

1:40:53

go? Does I make it there's a

1:40:55

kind of? No, yeah, well, I mean,

1:40:57

kind of invite. Wait, wait, wait, wait,

1:40:59

wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait,

1:41:01

hang didn't say kind of yes. He

1:41:04

was just like, I'll think about it.

1:41:06

No, I was like, I'm in. Sounds

1:41:08

like, I'm in. Sounds like, I'm in.

1:41:10

Sounds like, I'm in. Sounds like, I'm

1:41:12

in, I'm in, I'm like, I'm like,

1:41:14

I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm,

1:41:16

I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm,

1:41:18

I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm,

1:41:20

I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I

1:41:22

invite him knowing that he's going to

1:41:24

say no. Yeah. I mean, I just

1:41:27

have, I know I have shit. Right.

1:41:29

With my family. Yeah. My kids. All

1:41:31

right, so Hank's in. So now we're

1:41:33

down to three tickets to Will, that's

1:41:35

my wedding gift. Should I call Gregor,

1:41:37

ask if he wants him? Thanks, maybe

1:41:39

in. He caught you kind of offered

1:41:41

and he kind of accepted I turned

1:41:43

30 that well I I literally wow

1:41:45

actually know the next day I offer

1:41:47

how many meatballs you can put in

1:41:50

your mouth that night so many I

1:41:52

offered you like four days ago and

1:41:54

you didn't say yes he kind of

1:41:56

said yes but you also kind of

1:41:58

that's the worst kind of friend that's

1:42:00

like a maybe I think I said

1:42:02

I mean the maybe is so bad

1:42:04

this is Michael Greer From macrotated refinement

1:42:06

barstool version This is this is our

1:42:08

severed man He's not gonna answer what

1:42:11

a joke. This is our data guy

1:42:13

Wow We're never inviting career onto part

1:42:15

of my take again. Nope never again

1:42:17

one and done. We have our Canadian

1:42:19

his name's oldie. Mm-hmm. By the way

1:42:21

I got a text from oldie today

1:42:23

because it's opening day. Oh, yeah. He's

1:42:25

pumped. He's so fucking pumped about opening

1:42:27

day He said I

1:42:30

fucking love sports bro. Yeah, so

1:42:32

Paul. He's addicted to college basketball

1:42:34

now too. Yeah. I don't really

1:42:36

have a firefasts. No, I was

1:42:38

just joking by the way. You

1:42:40

can, Greg can have all four

1:42:42

tickets. That's the kind of yes.

1:42:45

Yes, don't do this, Hank. He

1:42:47

did it. He just did it.

1:42:49

You're gonna be golf in that

1:42:51

day anyways. Let's get real. Yeah,

1:42:53

come on. That actually might be

1:42:55

my fire fest. My fire fest

1:42:57

is that, uh, the weathers, the

1:42:59

weather's turning and I'm going. for

1:43:02

the rest of the season. That

1:43:04

is tough. I'll see him somewhere

1:43:06

around week six of the NFL.

1:43:08

It's bitter sweet. Outy Hank. It

1:43:10

is. You see him. You're like

1:43:12

all right. That's it. Nice knowing

1:43:14

you. Greer's calling me back. Should

1:43:17

I answer? Yeah, yeah. We'll give

1:43:19

him a shot. Michael. You're live

1:43:21

to tape on part of my

1:43:23

take right now. Okay. So. Saturday

1:43:26

Memorial Day weekend. You are going

1:43:28

to an ACDC concert in Chicago,

1:43:30

is that correct? That's correct, yeah.

1:43:33

One Mr. PFD commenter would like

1:43:35

to give you four tickets to

1:43:38

that concert. Is there anyone in

1:43:40

your party that would like four

1:43:42

tickets to the ACDC concert? In

1:43:45

my party? Anyone who's going to

1:43:47

your bachelor party? They're all coming

1:43:49

to the concert. Do they all

1:43:52

have tickets? Yeah, we all got

1:43:54

tickets. Oh, okay. Oh, okay. I

1:43:56

could maybe find more. Why more

1:43:59

people? No, he's got to find

1:44:01

more people. You have to find

1:44:03

more people. You have to find

1:44:06

more people. You're getting the tickets.

1:44:08

The tickets are yours. You have

1:44:11

to find the people to go.

1:44:13

Yeah, Max. Max, Max, tell him

1:44:15

that I accidentally bought too many

1:44:18

tickets and that I would now

1:44:20

like him to decide who from

1:44:22

the office gets the advice. But

1:44:25

it's not his responsibility. It's yours.

1:44:27

But congratulations on your marriage. Thank

1:44:30

you, thank you very much. I'm more

1:44:32

than happy to find homes for those

1:44:35

tickets. Okay, sweet. All right, thanks, Greer.

1:44:37

We did it. Yeah, so I gotta

1:44:39

say goodbye to Hank. We do it

1:44:41

every year. It's kind of like the

1:44:43

end of Severance, where he just stands

1:44:46

at the door and, you know, I

1:44:48

scream, I'm on the inside and I

1:44:50

scream, don't come back. It's the old

1:44:52

school distracted boyfriend meme? Yeah. Work, and

1:44:55

then... Golf he's gonna get so good

1:44:57

at golf this year PFT PFT you

1:44:59

know likes to fly planes around F-18s

1:45:01

and just sit in the skies all

1:45:04

day and that's fine You don't know

1:45:06

what an F-18 looks like big cat

1:45:08

likes to spawn children and and provide

1:45:10

life for them Children and and that's

1:45:12

okay like no one frowns upon that

1:45:15

but that's what you guys like to

1:45:17

do outside of work I like to

1:45:19

golf and that's a problem. I didn't

1:45:21

say it was a problem. I said

1:45:24

I say I was saying goodbye to

1:45:26

you. I miss you. I'm here. I'm

1:45:28

going to work. You're going to be

1:45:30

gone. It's a bitter sweet day. As

1:45:33

I see you at work now. It's

1:45:35

a bitter sweet moment. It's a bitter

1:45:37

sweet moment. I'd like to encourage Hanks.

1:45:39

I think it's important to have hobbies.

1:45:41

Hanks should be involved because he's really

1:45:44

good at golf. True factor fiction. You

1:45:46

did do that? I'm fiction about the

1:45:48

good at golf part. Okay, but true

1:45:50

that you... All right, in fact, I

1:45:53

was gassing up my boy. True. Yes.

1:45:55

And you're good at golf. But then

1:45:57

you shame me in the podcasting. No,

1:45:59

I didn't. I didn't shame you. What

1:46:02

about... Let's rewind the tape. I said,

1:46:04

I'm sad, this is the point of

1:46:06

year where I have to say goodbye

1:46:08

to you. But I'm here every, I'm

1:46:10

here as much as I was in

1:46:13

the winter. That's not true. It's not

1:46:15

a good or bad, you're going to

1:46:17

keep working, I just, I'm going to

1:46:19

miss you. I don't know what that

1:46:22

means. Usually you come on the act

1:46:24

on Friday, stuff like that. No, Hank,

1:46:26

I'm excited for you, because I plan

1:46:28

on playing more golf this year too,

1:46:31

so I can't. round. I'm a Hank

1:46:33

stand, long time Hank stand, over a

1:46:35

decade long Hank stand. I'm gonna root

1:46:37

for you to like crush it this

1:46:39

year. By the way, shout out the

1:46:42

cheeky, cheeky golf club. Yes, that was

1:46:44

awesome. Awesome. Over a year doing it.

1:46:46

Trying to play in a round every

1:46:48

single day until they got 18 parts

1:46:51

in a row. What is your best

1:46:53

round this year? I like to break

1:46:55

90. I don't want to set two,

1:46:57

two, two lo two. You have. from

1:47:00

the white teas. No, I did from

1:47:02

the white teas last year, but I

1:47:04

feel like that doesn't count. I just

1:47:06

assumed you broke 90. That's my bad.

1:47:08

No, I mean, I have, but I

1:47:11

want to do it more consistently. Five

1:47:13

times. Five times, break 90. What's the

1:47:15

best score though? 86. Okay, what about

1:47:17

a hole in one? Yeah, I mean,

1:47:20

I would love that. Okay. Can't really

1:47:22

plan plan on it happening. But you

1:47:24

can set as a goal. Yeah, go

1:47:26

for it. Yeah, go for it. Why

1:47:29

don't try. Why don't try. I'm gonna

1:47:31

try. Okay. It doesn't sound like you

1:47:33

will. It sounds like you're not really

1:47:35

focused on the whole one. No, you

1:47:38

got those just have to come to

1:47:40

you. You can't you can't push for

1:47:42

it too hard or else it will

1:47:44

never happen. Okay. All right. Well, I'm

1:47:46

excited for your golf event. Thank you

1:47:49

so much. I'm gonna play. How many

1:47:51

times will I play with you as

1:47:53

friends? I think once I have I

1:47:55

would like to come to Michigan this

1:47:58

this summer. Okay, I think twice now

1:48:00

You know what? I'm gonna say three

1:48:02

times that I'm gonna play we're gonna

1:48:04

play together not maybe all 18 holes

1:48:07

but we will actively be out together

1:48:09

playing golf like last year when you

1:48:11

took a vacation and then we planned

1:48:13

a golf run they're like I gotta

1:48:15

go do the act no that was

1:48:18

no that was uh was that was

1:48:20

uh was that remember no no I

1:48:22

think that was because I had rough

1:48:24

and rowdy that night no yeah I

1:48:27

had to get on a plane And

1:48:29

you also just like robbed me you

1:48:31

invited me out to your golf club

1:48:33

and you took so much money off

1:48:36

me because you brought a golf pro

1:48:38

with you and you're like oh oh

1:48:40

big cat you have Jerry I have

1:48:42

this guy he's just a pro at

1:48:44

golf let's just play duos. Hank if

1:48:47

we played one on one 18 holes

1:48:49

what how many strokes would you give

1:48:51

me? 10? No I'd give you like

1:48:53

six or seven. How much strokes did

1:48:56

you give me? I give you a

1:48:58

lot. 30? Stroke a hole. Stroke a

1:49:00

hole. Do you want to do a

1:49:02

summer long contest? You call it seven

1:49:05

strokes. We take a number of holes.

1:49:07

You should just get a handicap if

1:49:09

you're going to play more golf. Like

1:49:11

that's a very, there's a very easy

1:49:13

way where you could post enough scores

1:49:16

to have a handicap where it's like

1:49:18

we don't have to. Well, let's just

1:49:20

say, let's say seven strokes. Match by

1:49:22

match. I feel like we do this

1:49:25

all the time on camera and PFT

1:49:27

just wins outright. Well, that's on camera.

1:49:29

That's on camera. He melts on camera

1:49:31

every time. Also, I'm clutch. Well, some

1:49:34

PFTs clutch. Well, lights are on. We've

1:49:36

even done that in like two years.

1:49:38

It's fine. We'll see. Time will tell.

1:49:40

Okay. So you're turning down my challenge.

1:49:42

I don't want to do like math

1:49:45

averages and shit. Yeah, that sounds confused.

1:49:47

Like let's just play and let's just

1:49:49

play like I won match one, you

1:49:51

won't match two, and who wins the

1:49:54

most match? I mean, I want a

1:49:56

summer long competition, like an extra long

1:49:58

round of golf. How many rounds you

1:50:00

have to play to get a handicap?

1:50:03

Eight, out. Okay. I actually might be

1:50:05

like... I don't think it would be

1:50:07

possible for me to get a handicap.

1:50:09

I don't think I, I don't, I

1:50:11

think the course would close before I

1:50:14

did a real round of golf. Yeah,

1:50:16

I don't, I also have the attention

1:50:18

span. Credit to me for being a

1:50:20

good guy, there was a bachelor, we're

1:50:23

going through a bachelor party submissions, we

1:50:25

should have the one end of this

1:50:27

week if not next, but there was

1:50:29

one that was like in, whichever camera

1:50:32

guy goes. But that would have been

1:50:34

a hilariously like, like, like, like. Fun

1:50:36

for some people like I would enjoy

1:50:38

that, but but that's Max would yeah,

1:50:40

that would be miss me I am

1:50:43

so bad He said I could I

1:50:45

could stop at any time I wanted

1:50:47

if I got a par which would

1:50:49

just never That's really funny. That's really

1:50:52

funny. We should do that challenge for

1:50:54

me on camera That would be a

1:50:56

funny video because I don't want to

1:50:58

golf and then we just I have

1:51:01

to keep golf until I get one

1:51:03

par You can get one on a

1:51:05

par three? That's the least likely for

1:51:07

me that would get that would get

1:51:10

a a part. Yeah, you had you

1:51:12

had dingers on because like a short

1:51:14

par for I could I could get

1:51:16

it right next to the green and

1:51:18

still probably bogey. Yeah Yeah, it took

1:51:21

me a while. Okay numbers three 18.

1:51:23

Oh, you spicy today. 22 You're not

1:51:25

gonna get it 75. 46.

1:51:33

46. You guess 45?

1:51:36

Not me. Oh, 55.

1:51:38

Those workhouse. Memes not

1:51:40

even close. You're not

1:51:43

even getting better at

1:51:45

it. Memes. No. Okay.

1:51:47

Love you guys. One

1:51:49

day. So,
