This is Playing Around

0:33

with Page Renee.

0:36

Hello everyone, welcome back to the Playing

0:38

Around podcast.

0:40

Sam and I have been traveling.

0:41

I came back from a long, content

0:44

fun shoot in Arizona,

0:46

plus played with some contest winners, and

0:49

Sam had the road trip of a lifetime.

0:51

I did you know what?

0:52

It all was really fine when the road

0:54

trip was broken up into like five six

0:57

hour segments. The fourteen

0:59

hours on the way back needs

1:01

to never happen again.

1:02

Because you were in Augusta and then you

1:04

drove to the mountains, and then you drove

1:06

to a wedding.

1:08

Yeah, and so That's what the problem was is I

1:10

was going to be in Augusta, but I was also going to be in

1:12

this wedding the next weekend, so I was like, it doesn't

1:14

really make sense to go.

1:16

All the way back home.

1:17

So we just killed time up at my parents'

1:20

house in the mountains, and then it ended

1:22

with a very long drive back.

1:24

So thirty hours, you said, more

1:26

than five is my breaking point,

1:28

I can't do it. I used to drive from Arizona

1:31

to San Diego and back and forth all

1:33

the time when I was going to school at San Diego State.

1:35

I could do it quickly.

1:36

I'm not going to say the time how

1:38

bad I could do it, but it was.

1:40

It was a drive, and it was a boring drive because

1:42

there's just nothing. I don't think.

1:44

I've ever been in a car with you driving,

1:46

so I didn't know you were a little speed racer.

1:48

I used to be. I used to be. It was quite

1:51

bad.

1:51

Actually, I was driving from San Diego

1:53

back to Arizona and I just

1:56

wasn't paying attention, was going quite

1:58

fast, got pulled over. Try

2:00

to talk myself out of a speeding ticket, did not

2:02

work. HOWD to do traffic school

2:05

or Yeah, I was flying,

2:09

flying, and in San Diego

2:11

everyone drives like an idiot. You just have

2:13

to that's how you drive. And so I got

2:15

so used to doing that, and now I'm a grandma.

2:18

I have, you know, two hands on the wheel.

2:20

I drive like at the

2:22

speed limit. I think I have trauma

2:25

from driving so fast in San Diego.

2:27

And everyone would get in my car and they

2:29

would be like gripping the sides

2:33

anything they could to get their hands on because I was

2:35

driving so fast, and every single

2:37

time I would finish the right.

2:39

I'd go, But did you die? And it

2:41

was you were always fine. I

2:43

was about to say, I don't think you're telling me anyone

2:46

was hurt. So no, no,

2:48

nope, I've been lucky. Yeah. Now

2:50

now I'm a grandma driver.

2:51

I feel like everyone when you

2:53

turn sixteen or seventeen or you know, you

2:55

start driving. You get so enthralled in driving

2:58

fast because I used to drive pretty fast and

3:00

now like I'll drive my parents to the airport and they're

3:02

like, are you going to go? And I'm like, now you're

3:04

telling me drive faster, Like okay,

3:07

I'll just try to get everybody there safely.

3:09

I failed my driver's

3:12

test the first time. Well, the written

3:14

test. I feel the written test the first time, so

3:16

I had to retake that, and then

3:18

my mom was like, I'm going to kill

3:20

you if you fail

3:23

the driving portion of it. And I

3:25

was driving my mom's minivan. It's a boat.

3:28

I mean, this thing is huge, and you had to

3:30

do that, you know, like three point turn and

3:32

I was going back and if you touch the cone, you

3:34

fail.

3:35

And I lightly kissed

3:38

it. And I look at the

3:40

guy and.

3:40

He's like, it's fine. He's like, no

3:42

one usually does this in a minivan. He's like,

3:44

I feel bad for you that you had to do in a minivan.

3:46

And I didn't move the cones out, and I was like,

3:49

oh, thank goodness. I can't imagine if

3:51

I.

3:51

Failed that too. Well. I feel like this

3:53

is a very exposing first

3:55

few minutes of the podcast for us right

3:57

now.

3:59

So what's the wedding sale. The

4:01

wedding was awesome. It was just

4:04

outside of Memphis. It was great.

4:05

It was one of my college roommates, so

4:08

it was very special to me, you know, to be there

4:10

with her and our bachelorette.

4:13

Her bachelorette was three years ago, so

4:15

it was a while since all of the bridesmaids

4:18

and everybody has been together.

4:20

So we had a really good time.

4:21

And then that was Friday night, and then Saturday

4:23

night, her parents hosted like a dinner thing

4:25

at their house.

4:26

They had a chef come and cook, and.

4:28

Then we all went out to this famous

4:30

disco bar called Rayford's. If

4:32

you've been to Memphis, apparently it's like the place

4:35

we went to the place. Yeah, but like the

4:37

last night of a two week road trip, knowing

4:40

that you don't have to drink tomorrow is like

4:43

you don't even want to be there.

4:44

Yeah.

4:44

I can't relate honestly to that at all.

4:46

I have nothing to add

4:48

to that. I can't relate.

4:50

That's fair. Well, so then you

4:52

know, we were all exhausted by that point,

4:54

so we didn't really like we were doing it

4:56

because we had to and it was like part of the party. But

4:59

we're sitting around at dinner and

5:01

then before dinner hanging out and I'm and I wanted

5:03

to watch the LPGA event.

5:05

Because my friend, my former roommate,

5:07

was in like fifth Bailey Tarty is

5:09

her name, and I was like, oh my god, this is her.

5:11

First year on the LPGA. Maybe she's going to be

5:13

on TV. We need to watch now

5:15

we're in best Instagram handle of all time.

5:18

Party for the party Yep, pretty

5:21

good. She is always starty and

5:23

always partying, So it does. It does

5:25

work. But we're in a

5:28

room full of people our age who

5:30

like don't care about golf unless it's

5:32

Tiger Woods, and I'm like, let's turn on the

5:34

LPGA and they're all like what,

5:37

and I'm like, it's fine. We're going to make

5:39

a drinking game out of it.

5:41

So here's how to get your friends

5:43

involved in golf and

5:45

watching even PGA Tour. So

5:47

we're all sitting in a circle around the TV.

5:49

There were like six of us. Every shot

5:52

you go in order down the line of people.

5:54

Every shot you the person who's turned it

5:56

is gets to call either left or right

5:59

or long or short where they're going to hit it. You

6:01

can pick it, doesn't have to be

6:03

both, can be both if you want to bet. Two

6:05

SIPs can be make

6:08

it if you want to bet, finish the whole drink.

6:10

So we were you know, somebody was sitting

6:12

in an iron shot and I was like, they're going to be short. They came

6:14

up short. I don't have to drink. Everyone

6:17

else has to drink. Oh, I

6:19

like that if I'm wrong, then

6:21

I have to drink.

6:22

It ended up being so fun. We didn't even know who

6:24

these people were, and you didn't know where you were,

6:27

you didn't know what you were watching. By the end

6:29

of the yeah, it was. It

6:32

was pretty great.

6:32

I like to say time slowed down

6:35

as the blackout it did.

6:37

It really slowed and it was light outside

6:40

and so and then there was a chef cooking

6:42

Philly cheese steaks. It was a fever dream,

6:44

to be honest. But that

6:46

is my new favorite drinking game to

6:49

play. You could play it in any scenario.

6:51

You could play it at your country club watching people

6:54

put.

6:54

On any anything. Sam the

6:56

Genius. So there you have it.

6:58

You can never say that we know or gave you anything

7:01

or educated you on this podcast.

7:03

We've given you a drinking game. You are welcome.

7:05

So while you were doing that and eating cheese steaks,

7:08

I was in Arizona actually playing with

7:10

contest winners. So we always do all of these

7:12

contests with all of my partners, and people

7:15

always doubt that I go and

7:17

play with these people, and sometimes it's

7:19

a couple months later because of scheduling. But

7:21

I played with these guys who won

7:24

the sporadic scramble with ex golf

7:26

and so they were all actually really great players

7:28

from Colorado. Funny

7:30

enough, two of them I grew up playing

7:33

junior golf with in Colorado. Yeah,

7:35

we're the same age. We like put the pieces

7:37

together. We knew all the same people. And

7:39

one of the guys was a long

7:41

drive guy and just bombed it.

7:44

It was so impressive to watch

7:46

him play. They were so cool. I

7:48

have been really lucky to always

7:50

play with really great winners and

7:53

every single time amazing round of golf.

7:55

I will say sometimes I'm not always looking forward

7:57

to it because you just don't know.

7:59

It's a round of golf.

8:00

If you're with people that you've never met before, you don't

8:02

know how it's going to be. It be quite awkward that if

8:04

it is awkward, then it's like six hours. I

8:06

have never had a bad experience with any of

8:08

the contest winners and it was another really

8:10

great one. So I think when I'm back in Colorado, I'll

8:12

end up playing with them again.

8:13

So that was really fun. Did some

8:15

shoots and then.

8:16

Had to fly back and hopefully

8:19

no travel for us for at least a week.

8:21

Knock on, what about the all experiences

8:24

with that. I know no that they just said

8:26

that. Yeah.

8:27

Yeah. We played at the Boulders, which is one

8:29

of my favorite golf courses in Arizona.

8:32

It's so beautiful, so stunning. So it

8:34

was actually really fun, like really really

8:36

fun.

8:36

I love when golf surprises you like that, because

8:39

no one wants to play eighteen holes less

8:41

than the two people on this podcast. So

8:44

when we do play and we have a lot of fun,

8:47

like we did in New South Wales, I.

8:48

Was like, okay, I could do that

8:50

again.

8:51

Well, I found something in my swing which

8:53

has made me want to play more,

8:56

and it actually happened when I was

8:58

playing in Australia.

9:00

I have a tendency to snappook it and

9:02

I hate that miss and I honestly

9:05

hate playing golf because when I'm standing

9:07

on the tee, I don't know where my golf ball's going.

9:09

And you can't relate because you haven't missed a fair way

9:11

in since.

9:12

When ninety four, When I'm ninety.

9:14

Four, yes, which is actually also

9:17

facts, she does not miss fairways and

9:19

you can't relate to this, as if I can't relate to your

9:21

drinking.

9:21

But when you're on the tee, I don't know where the golf

9:23

ball is going.

9:24

And there is no more of a helpless feeling

9:26

than not knowing if it is going right

9:29

or left, And especially when

9:31

I have that big snap hook. And so one thing

9:33

that I forgot and I just

9:36

randomly remembered and when

9:38

we're playing Royal Melbourne was

9:40

actually need to turn my hips and you

9:42

need to turn into the miss

9:44

that you don't like. It's almost like when you're

9:47

driving on bad roads and you have to turn

9:49

into it.

9:50

That's the same thing.

9:51

And so you think, if I'm turning left, the ball

9:53

is going to go left, but that's far further from

9:56

farthest from the truth is if you turn

9:58

left, it's not going to go left. And

10:00

so now I turn as hard as I can to

10:02

my left side and I don't have that stap poke.

10:05

Anymore, and I hit the ball

10:07

great and.

10:07

I felt good, and I was like, this is the golf

10:10

is fun when you're hitting the ball well. And

10:12

of course everyone's like, yeah, no shit, Page, like

10:14

we would all hit the ball well, we would all enjoy golf.

10:17

But there's sometimes like it just clicks and

10:19

that's when it becomes fun again.

10:20

I completely relate to the using your hips

10:22

in your swing. I've always been an arms

10:25

like, no lower body movement

10:27

kind of player, and whenever I do remember

10:30

to use my lower body, I hit

10:32

it straighter and farther, especially

10:34

farther with the driver. And I feel like it's

10:36

something that is so easily overlooked,

10:39

especially when you're starting out and learning how

10:41

to play golf. It's like, Okay, I just need to make

10:43

contact with the ball, and you're just worried about

10:45

your hands, but the lower body has so much to do

10:47

with it.

10:48

Or even just it's the game of opposite.

10:50

You think that if you want to

10:52

get the ball in the air, people lift up and

10:54

you actually need to hit down on it.

10:55

If you want the.

10:56

Ball to make a draw,

10:58

you have to swing out to your right side, and same

11:00

if you want the ball to fag, you just swing out to your left. It's

11:03

like everything is opposite and you just have to

11:05

remember that. And of course too,

11:07

it's like you don't need to guide it. That's

11:09

the worst thing you can possibly do on the golf

11:11

course is try to control and like guide

11:14

a shot to where you want to go. You just

11:16

need to swing and like trust yourself, and I always

11:18

forget about that, and it's like you've been doing this

11:20

for such a long time. Just turn through it

11:22

like trust it, swing it, and it

11:24

always works out way better.

11:26

I love that little inspiration tip from p Oh.

11:29

And you know one more thing, Sam, we

11:31

played as a foursome.

11:32

We took our time. We had the

11:34

best day.

11:35

They were getting drinks, seating hot

11:37

dogs. We played in

11:40

under four hours easily,

11:42

easily. You have to try

11:45

actively try to play

11:47

slow. We took our

11:49

time because I think sometimes when we talk about slow

11:52

play, a lot of people are like, but I paid

11:54

for.

11:54

This and I'm going to take my time. You can take

11:56

your time.

11:57

There is no reason that

11:59

golf take over four hours

12:01

and twenty minutes. There are no reason

12:04

that it should ever ever even

12:07

reach five hours.

12:08

That's actually something that one has obviously

12:11

been in the conversation of pro golf

12:13

in the past few weeks.

12:14

A lot and.

12:14

Two is a reason why I

12:17

don't like playing as much anymore.

12:19

I mean, college golf rounds, as you know, could take

12:22

six hours maybe.

12:23

If we were lucky.

12:25

And now when I go out and play, if

12:27

I want to play with friends, it's usually on a public

12:29

course. That doesn't really interest me because

12:31

I know nobody cares about playing

12:33

efficiently, and it

12:36

just I think there's too many holes in

12:38

a golf course. But that's a different story. I

12:40

agree, But I think it's that's a

12:42

really great point is that you guys went out there,

12:44

had had your fun, took your time. But

12:47

for me, it's always like I want to be able to see

12:49

the group in front of me. If I can't see the group

12:51

in front of me, then we're going too slow.

12:53

I think it should be going back to it's

12:56

too many holes. It should be three

12:59

six hole course or like three six hole

13:01

turns, and so that way you can have the option to play

13:03

six twelve, or you can do all eighteen, or you

13:05

can just keep going around.

13:06

But I think it needs to be broken up differently.

13:08

And again, golf is just such a game of tradition

13:11

that they're never going to break the mold.

13:12

But even when it comes to the.

13:14

Tour players right now, obviously the conversation

13:16

started at the Masters, where Brooks and

13:18

John Rahm were waiting on almost every single

13:21

hole. I mean, I watched paint dry

13:24

in the time that they took to

13:26

play all eighteen holes. And I'm not going to call

13:28

out just one player because I do

13:30

think it's a little unfair that Patrick Kingley is getting

13:33

so much heat right now. Yes,

13:36

he is a slow player, but this is a huge

13:38

problem in golf.

13:39

It's not just him.

13:40

There are so many other players out there that are way

13:43

too slow and they need

13:45

to make a change. They

13:47

need to just figure it out. You

13:49

have forty seconds to hit a golf ball.

13:52

If you don't hit forty seconds, you should be

13:54

penalized. Not a warning, not a slap

13:56

on the wrist, penalize them. If

13:59

you take over forty s seconds, you should penalize

14:01

them. Can you imagine if in

14:03

any other sport, any other sport,

14:05

let's think about this, they're playing for a

14:08

championship in basketball and the person

14:10

just dribbling away, just dribbling, taking

14:12

his time, and people are like, it's fine, he's playing for

14:14

a championship or he's playing for a

14:16

lot of money, so just like, let him

14:18

take his time. No, it's against the rules.

14:21

It is against the rules, and that is the same

14:23

for golf. It is for sportsmanship,

14:26

and it is cheating. It is actually

14:28

cheating.

14:29

I think it's interesting.

14:30

I've seen, you know, I've been watching Twitter the last few

14:32

weeks and I've seen some people say, you

14:34

know, every other sport has a shot clock, like you're

14:36

saying, which I think is a really interesting point that I

14:38

don't feel like I think about a lot because we

14:40

watch golf with no shot clock.

14:42

And the other point is is that the shot clock

14:44

stays the.

14:45

Same no matter what tournament

14:47

or game or level of

14:49

play you're in. So I saw some people

14:51

saying like, well, maybe they should have more

14:54

time because it's a major no

14:56

no. And how about the fact also

14:58

that you probably, unless you're the

15:00

first person to play in your you

15:02

know, three sum or two some, you've

15:05

had all the time when your other

15:07

competitor was hitting to prepare to

15:09

do your shit.

15:10

It's unlike in the other sport where you actually do

15:12

have time to prepare. It's it's

15:15

not a reactive sport. And then

15:17

for it to take as long as it does when

15:19

it's your turn is mind

15:21

blowing. It's mind blowing, and it's

15:23

bleeding into public play in junior

15:25

golf because juniors look up to these

15:28

pros.

15:28

They are watching them take their good ass.

15:30

Time to read a putt, and then

15:32

they're like, if I want to be as good as them,

15:35

then I need to do this, and this needs to be very team.

15:37

No, No, it doesn't.

15:40

You need to play faster. And what

15:42

if they just started rewarding fast players.

15:44

How interesting would that be if you

15:46

played in a certain amount of time, then all

15:49

the fast players got grouped together and all

15:51

the slow players got grouped together, or there

15:53

was like some some incentive to play

15:55

fast. Do you think any of them would play slow? No,

15:58

they're playing slow because there's no pen right

16:00

now.

16:01

I'm just picturing being

16:03

on eleven or twelve in Augusta,

16:06

having the beautiful scenery in the background

16:09

and they're being a shot clock.

16:12

Can you imagine if they end up putting

16:14

like shot clocks on the screen, which

16:16

technically I think there is internally,

16:19

you know, when there's rules officials on every hole,

16:21

especially at majors, there's rules officials assign

16:23

to each hole. I think they're

16:26

just not enforcing it enough. Like

16:28

you said, no, no, because it's a warning,

16:30

you get like two or three warnings before they

16:33

finally give you a penalty. It

16:35

should be right away. You're breaking up

16:37

the rules, and like I said, it's.

16:38

Poor sportsmanship and is highly disrespectful

16:41

to the people that you're playing with and then the groups

16:43

around you as well. It impacts

16:45

their score and their ability

16:48

to be able to play the game. That is

16:50

unacceptable, unacceptable, And

16:52

I feel very strongly about

16:54

this because I have been in so many groups

16:56

in the past when I was playing competitively because

16:58

I am a quick player slow players, and

17:01

what they do is they put your entire group

17:03

on watch, and so you're

17:05

having to speed up to make up

17:08

for the slow player in your group,

17:10

and you are so discobobulated that you don't

17:12

even know what's going on and you're running

17:14

ahead, which we saw with Victor

17:16

Hovland when he was hitting that chip

17:19

shot out of turn while Patrick Cantley

17:21

was walking across the bridge.

17:22

That's what you have to do when you're playing with someone

17:25

slow and they're giving you a warning. It

17:27

is so unfair.

17:28

And if you're listening to this and you're an amateur

17:30

and you think that taking longer will help you hit a better

17:32

shot, you're probably not correct.

17:35

You could argue that thinking less and

17:38

knowing less could help

17:40

you, Like.

17:40

What else do you need to know?

17:42

You know, it takes very little

17:44

time to figure out what club you want

17:46

to hit, and like you said, you can do that. Wow,

17:49

the person is hitting their shot.

17:51

You should be ready to go club in hand

17:53

when it is your turn.

17:55

Feeling we could talk about this for a while, but

17:57

we should not. Let's go to the RBC.

17:59

And it was an elevated event, which

18:01

is really interesting, right after the Masters,

18:04

so we had an amazing field which we don't

18:06

normally see.

18:07

Personally, I didn't like it.

18:09

I felt bad for all of the players

18:11

who made the cut in the Masters

18:13

and then had to run over to the RBC.

18:16

It's like, I felt like there should be a week in

18:18

between because it was such a big

18:20

event with a huge purse, and we saw

18:22

Rory withdraw.

18:23

How do you feel about that?

18:24

I think it's fair and I think he should

18:26

be able to do that. What I don't know that

18:28

I love is that he got fined three

18:31

million dollars for it. I mean, what an

18:33

expensive week off, Like you're sitting

18:35

there, She's sitting there on the phone with his wife like, well,

18:37

honey, i think I'm going to come home and just hang

18:39

out this weekend.

18:40

But it's going to cost us three mili.

18:42

That's like five dollars to him. Something

18:45

that's quite still. And they'll make

18:47

not to go back to slow play, but they'll make

18:50

an example of that. But

18:52

they won't do it for slow play again,

18:54

ridiculous. I just don't know why the priorities

18:57

in golf are so fucked

18:59

up.

19:00

You tried not to say it, there, you tried.

19:04

I was like, of all these different words, but

19:06

the only one that came to mind was fuck. Oh

19:09

that's funny. But it was an interesting

19:11

finish to the event.

19:13

I will say on my billion hour

19:15

car drive home, I was forced

19:17

to listen to Serious XM to

19:19

listen to the tournament.

19:21

It was fantastic. I really enjoyed

19:23

it.

19:23

I can't tell you the last time that I listened to Serious

19:26

XM Golf Channel or whatever it's called

19:29

to actually listen to tournament

19:31

play.

19:31

I thought it was fantastic.

19:33

I mean, we were driving through the middle of nowhere, so

19:35

I didn't have sales service to watch it on my phone

19:37

like a normal person, but I thought it was

19:39

really great. It really kind of forces you

19:41

to use your imagination and to kind

19:44

of put in your head what they're telling you. And

19:46

I've been to Harbortown, so like, I feel

19:48

like I had a little bit of an advantage there, but for people

19:50

who haven't, I could see how

19:52

it could be really cool to listen to

19:54

these people describe those surroundings like that.

19:57

Have you listened to that much at all? I haven't.

19:59

But do do you remember who was commentating?

20:02

Is it a different crew than the ones

20:04

who do the TV.

20:06

I don't remember.

20:07

It sounded different because they

20:09

were much more descriptive, like they were talking

20:11

to me like I couldn't see it see.

20:13

I think that potentially could also be

20:16

why you liked it, because it.

20:17

Was just something that was different.

20:18

I mean, we talked about this on this podcast

20:21

at nauseam at this point, but when you get

20:23

the same people commentating over and

20:25

over and over again, it becomes a bit redundant.

20:28

And to have something that's different, it's a breath

20:30

of fresh air.

20:31

And it would be nice to have some diversity

20:34

within the commentating team. It doesn't have to be

20:36

a complete overhaul every single week, but

20:38

to have a new voice in.

20:40

There, it's nice. It mixes it

20:42

up a little bit.

20:43

I got to say, I think the last person I

20:45

thought I would be supporting commentating would

20:47

be Smiley Kaufman, and I think it's

20:49

been fine, Like I think it's been good change.

20:52

I think it is too.

20:53

He's younger, he has the relationships

20:55

with a lot of the players.

20:57

He brings a little bit of use to the

20:59

book. Both you to the booth. Wait,

21:03

that was funny. Oh you're surprised

21:06

put it on a T shirt.

21:07

But having Smiley and Colts,

21:10

I think it's a great little mix that they.

21:12

Have going on right now.

21:13

And during the Masters I enjoyed

21:15

Shane Bacon, Colts and Smiley

21:18

Kaufman.

21:18

I think it worked really well together. And

21:20

that's what I'm saying.

21:21

You have these younger and it's

21:23

not like there's some spring chickens, but you have

21:26

like not like on the brink

21:28

of this, you know, take a little extended

21:30

nappy, but it's.

21:32

Get some youth from the boom. But

21:38

it's like they just bring a different perspective.

21:40

And I think also having those really

21:42

great relationships with the players, you get

21:45

that insight and it's

21:47

refreshing and I really enjoy it.

21:49

I thought, going back to two weeks ago,

21:52

the featured groups on Masters dot Com with Colts

21:54

and Shane was incredible,

21:57

awesome, like so incredible, but

22:00

that they were saying, I actually have a list, because

22:02

of course I do. There were three things that they

22:04

noted that they said. One of them was

22:07

Tiger would sweat in an igloo, So I

22:09

thought that was interesting apparently. I mean, we've always

22:11

known Tiger as a sweater, but in

22:13

an igloo. And then the funniest thing that

22:15

I actually saw some people tweet about was

22:18

when Colt said some stat or said

22:20

something and then it turned out to be right. And

22:23

then Shane goes, wow, like you were you know,

22:25

you were actually right about that, and Colt goes, this

22:27

hitting just a hat rack, Shane,

22:31

And so they bring some humor to

22:33

it, and it's fun if you hear me

22:35

start using that. The one out of every ten times

22:38

I say something smart, you'll know creditical.

23:28

of one of the biggest storylines from the RBC,

23:31

John Rahm becoming a true fan

23:33

favorite. Now, He's always been I

23:35

would say well liked, but there's

23:37

always been a discussion around his fiery

23:40

personality and especially as demeanor

23:42

on the golf course. And I think lots of times

23:45

he got painted in a very negative life

23:47

because he was very emotional

23:50

on the golf course, which I love. I

23:52

love seeing a player get passionate

23:54

about what they're doing, especially when there's

23:56

so much on the line for them. And after

23:59

he played, he's stopped in the booth, sat there

24:01

for hours, talked about how much he loved the game,

24:03

did a full analysis on a lot of the

24:06

players. He did not withdraw

24:08

from the tournament. He said, you know this,

24:10

this means a lot to a lot of young

24:12

kids who come out expecting to see

24:14

me, and I don't want to disappoint him. He

24:17

has just been on day in

24:19

and day out, and people are really

24:21

starting to embrace John

24:23

Rong.

24:24

I think I'm one of those people, to be honest with

24:26

you, I think that before I

24:28

just saw him as kind of this standoffish

24:32

hard like, you know, kind of hard us

24:34

and I didn't know that that was like the endearing

24:36

golfer that I wanted to be like a super

24:38

fan of. But I think, like you said, over the

24:40

last couple of weeks, he's really shown

24:42

who he is and I think it's really

24:45

been really fun.

24:46

I agree, and Matty fitz ended

24:48

up winning.

24:49

And we're doing a new segment called Shot

24:52

of the Week and it's sponsored by Club

24:54

Champions. So Matt Fitzpatrick

24:56

hit a shot on the third playoff hole

24:58

with a nine iron into what was

25:01

that a foot.

25:02

Less than a foot less than a

25:04

foot.

25:05

There was a funny picture going

25:08

around of this could also be the shot

25:10

of the week. This picture of

25:12

Matt Fitzpatrick and his drop

25:14

dead gorgeous girlfriend.

25:16

I mean, she is stunning beautiful,

25:20

and everyone was like.

25:21

Kids, this is why you practice,

25:23

Like hey, you're extra golf ball so you can

25:26

get a cool look

25:28

like that. I thought that was hilarious.

25:30

That could potentially also be the shot

25:32

of the Week. But it just shows when you

25:35

have confidence in your clubs, in

25:37

your game, that you're going to play better.

25:39

And so I always recommend going to get

25:41

fit for clubs at Club Champion

25:43

and if you guys want a discount, you could use my

25:45

code page. That's Paige

25:48

at club champion dot com.

25:51

But Sam, we got to expose

25:53

Matty fitz for a second.

25:54

I know what you're about to say, and I'll be honest.

25:56

I was surprised you didn't say it last week.

25:59

I forgot about it. There's too much going on. I

26:01

had pimento cheese and egg salad

26:03

on the brain. It was a little fuzzy.

26:06

I forgot about this. During the Wednesday

26:08

round we were watching Matt

26:10

Fitzpatrick hit on the driving range

26:13

and during the Netflix stock he

26:15

said that after every single shot

26:18

he charts down how

26:20

far you hit it?

26:21

Sam, did you see a notebook out there? Did you see

26:23

a pen?

26:23

I didn't even see any stepping away from the

26:26

bucket of balls in front of him, unless it was

26:28

someone in the

26:31

stands behind him, which

26:33

would be more.

26:34

Of a flex. I think, I don't know. It's

26:36

a little sus We didn't see it.

26:38

It's probably all documented in his track mound,

26:40

and then he goes at home and he writes it all down

26:42

and we just looked like a bunch of haters.

26:45

True.

26:45

I will say, speaking in the Netflix documentary,

26:48

they're getting some great storylines

26:50

again. I mean, we talked to Chad mom in one of the

26:52

episodes, and I think season one was okay,

26:55

but I think season two will be way better.

26:57

I have watching Breakpoint, which is the tennis

26:59

version, and Golf

27:01

really just didn't get it done.

27:04

I hate to say it, just they talked.

27:06

So much about missing the cut and so much about the

27:08

basics that you didn't get to get into

27:11

the personality. But that is a whole nother conversation.

27:13

Sam, we even have I said what I said. I

27:15

said what I said. I don't think the golf Netflix

27:18

doc was I could well in there you have it.

27:22

I said, my chances of being on season

27:24

two?

27:25

I said what I said. Jordan's peace putting

27:27

anyone? Nope?

27:28

All right, moving on, Let's get to TNA.

27:30

This is a light golf week, so we have

27:33

some questions.

27:34

These questions are sponsored not

27:36

monetarily by chat GPT.

27:39

I typed in to chat GPT.

27:41

I've been experimenting. I typed

27:43

in write me some questions to ask Page

27:45

Sprannic on a Q and A podcast.

27:48

This is what it came up with. Word for word,

27:50

I copy and pasted them. You have the Beauty

27:52

Versus Beast match against John Daily

27:55

coming up. Have you been practicing? Not

27:57

yet, but I still have some time. It's

27:59

in June. June fifth is the day that we're playing.

28:02

But I have been slowly practicing

28:04

again. It's difficult to get

28:07

me prepared to.

28:08

Get in that mindset again.

28:10

I mean, we mentioned at the top of this episode

28:12

that we just don't enjoy playing

28:14

golf anymore, and I have to

28:16

find something that motivates me to

28:19

want to practice and play again. And

28:22

I've been looking at my game in a very different

28:24

light. I was never a data

28:26

player. I only was a

28:28

field player, and I only also practice

28:31

things that I like to do, and so I would

28:33

spend hours and hours on my short game,

28:35

but I would ignore certain things.

28:37

I'm a terrible long iron player.

28:39

My putting can improve from about ten

28:41

to fifteen feet, and at

28:43

times off the tea, it's a bit

28:46

dicey, and I don't really know all of that

28:48

until I started working with Shotscope and using

28:50

all of the data that they have from

28:53

their rangefinder or their watch. You can

28:55

pick whatever one you want. But I started

28:58

to use all of that data realize

29:00

where I was missing out on all of my shots,

29:03

and so I with them, We've put

29:05

together a practice plan so I

29:07

can get better in a more efficient

29:10

time frame. I don't have all day

29:12

to just practice, and I feel like a lot of people

29:14

can relate to that, where it's like

29:16

they have families and work

29:18

and other life obligations that you can't

29:20

go out and just practice and play all day

29:23

long.

29:23

And so I've been able to use the

29:25

data, come up with.

29:26

A practice plan and really improve

29:29

in a short amount of time. And so I'm

29:31

going to be actually documenting that, which I think will be

29:33

really fun and helpful for a lot of people. Be on

29:36

my YouTube channel. We're doing a shot

29:38

Scope coaching series. We did it last year, you

29:40

guys loved it. We're going to keep going and kind

29:42

of this road to the Beauty and

29:44

the Beast match because I haven't been in that

29:46

competitive mindset for such a long

29:48

time, and so I'm excited

29:50

to like get back into and I think once I'm

29:53

in it, I will go full force. But

29:55

it's like preparing yourself to like get

29:57

back in that again because.

29:59

It's just differ for me.

30:00

I just I don't love competing It's something

30:02

that I've always really struggled with, and I'm hoping

30:05

that having a new outlook and focusing more on

30:07

the data and taking the emotion out of it

30:09

will make golf and competing a little bit

30:11

easier for me.

30:12

We talked about this before a lot of

30:14

times, what you think you're doing wrong

30:16

isn't necessarily what you're doing

30:18

wrong. Like you can think you

30:20

suck at your irons, Well, maybe it's because you haven't hit a

30:22

fairway. Like I think that's really

30:25

a really interesting way to look at your stats

30:28

and something that we did in college that I could

30:30

not care less about doing now, but I.

30:32

Feel like it was really helpful in college.

30:34

We did it.

30:35

Yeah, I mean, like you said, like you think

30:37

you're bad at irons, but how many fairways did

30:39

you hit? Or you're a good potter, but

30:41

you're a good potter because you're missing so many greens

30:43

and that's why you're not shooting lower. So

30:45

it's just knowing what you need to practice and really focusing

30:48

in on your weaknesses.

30:49

I think the Strotscope stuff is really cool

30:51

and how I think it was interesting.

30:53

They don't charge you to do it.

30:54

I feel like all the other systems out there you have to pay

30:56

for the tracking and the data.

30:58

No, it's all for free. And like I said,

31:01

you just you can attach it the GPS

31:03

onto your rangefinder, or you can have a watch

31:06

and it tracks every single shot and

31:08

there's an app you can go check it out compare

31:10

it to other people as well, so you can compare

31:13

to my data.

31:14

And I think it's really interesting.

31:15

It's like a full community of people who just

31:17

love to look at their numbers and using

31:19

a rangefinder or GPS watch

31:21

speeds up pace of play.

31:23

Read around town, pee and

31:26

again.

31:26

If you guys want a discount, you can use my code

31:30

It's Paige. If you don't have a

31:32

spell my name yet, you should.

31:34

Let's get into it because these questions

31:37

they're funny. They go back and forth, and

31:39

I hope you didn't read them in advance.

31:41

I didn't. Actually, do you think I prepare for

31:43

things? I should have known

31:45

better than to say that. Actually, okay,

31:48

I will be honest. This first real question.

31:51

I made this one up. What's your favorite

31:53

cut of state?

31:54

Marty Fish had this tweet last

31:56

night and he said, anyone who

31:58

orders any other but a flameme

32:01

on is an idiot and.

32:03

I am a Ribbi girl.

32:05

I love a Ribby And

32:07

he commented back and he's like, yeah, I got

32:09

that, but it's like all half fat, Like that's

32:11

the point.

32:13

Yeah, the flavor, Like, where's

32:15

the flavor?

32:16

It's right there. I love a good

32:18

Ribbi. I think it's the best cut. I can

32:20

also fuck with a prime.

32:21

Rib Those are those are like my go to my

32:24

two, my two favorites. I'm a Ribbi

32:26

or a New York strip girl. I feel like New

32:28

York strip I actually kind of forget

32:30

that.

32:31

I like steak until I have one, and then

32:33

I like hyperfixate on it, which is currently where

32:35

I'm at right now.

32:36

So ooh, or.

32:37

Like a good Wagu steak

32:39

at like a Japanese restaurant.

32:42

There's this place here in Orlando that we've only

32:44

been to one time, but they have Wagu tacos.

32:46

It's it's like a MEXICALAIAI

32:50

mes Caloria, whatever the fuck I'm trying to say,

32:52

And they have these Wagu tacos

32:54

that are insane.

32:56

Yeah, add Wagu to

32:58

the list. I love that.

32:59

If you have any superpower but it

33:01

could only be used on the golf

33:03

course, what would it be and.

33:05

Why I would never miss a putt like I never

33:07

miss a putt. If I'm on the green, I

33:09

make the putt. I would win every championship

33:13

because it doesn't matter. All you have to do is get it

33:15

on the green. You don't even need to be close. Just get

33:17

it on the green. You can make breeze.

33:19

I think for me it would be to hit the middle

33:22

of every green. I would beat you every

33:24

time. Yeah.

33:25

But if my superpower is to make every

33:27

single putt, if I had eighteen

33:29

bus around, literally all

33:31

I have to do is get it on the green and I

33:34

make the putt, I would destroy you.

33:36

You're gonna have three puts Like it's

33:38

just science. You know what's

33:40

sad about this is that I thought about this

33:43

and you did it anyway.

33:44

I have a big brain, Sam, What do you want from me? Not

33:47

just a hat rack, not just a power.

33:50

Have you ever had a wardrobe malfunction?

33:52

Yeah? I actually have.

33:53

There's been multiple times where

33:56

I will be swinging and like it

33:59

will just so things will.

34:00

Slip out, pop out.

34:02

And you'll actually notice a lot of my

34:04

videos where I swing and I like do

34:06

kind of a little check down to make sure I'm good

34:09

before I turn around and do like

34:11

my whole like spiel to the camera after

34:13

because I'm always checking and make sure everything

34:16

is okay and good.

34:17

Well, and then there was the malfunction that didn't even leave

34:19

the house in AUGUSTA Oh my gosh.

34:22

Yeah, I bought this dress for a

34:24

party and I thought it was the

34:26

most perfect dress. I didn't try it

34:28

on, just assumed it would fit perfectly. I

34:31

put it on and I even was

34:33

like, this is so much. I

34:36

walked downstairs my boyfriend

34:38

and my agent and I'm like, this is a lot, and

34:40

they both look at me and they're like, just pointed

34:42

back to the room. You need

34:46

to change immediately.

34:48

And I was like, well, maybe if I put a jacket on then

34:50

it will be better. And I put

34:52

the jacket on and I just looked like I wasn't even

34:54

wearing a top.

34:56

It was so bad.

34:57

The dress is on

35:00

subscription site, okay, if you want to check it out.

35:02

I did a whole video on it, and Sam saw

35:04

the video.

35:06

It was a lot. I do feel like the

35:08

dress itself was would have been

35:10

fine if you were like five feet tall. It was short.

35:13

It was like really short, fit

35:15

like this way, not even just short. This

35:17

way. It was short both ways, and I

35:19

felt completely naked up top.

35:22

It was the weirdest feeling.

35:23

I took that little picture of everything laying out on the

35:25

bed. I was like, Oh, this is so cute. I know that's

35:27

what I thought too. No, anyway,

35:30

if you could have any animal as a pet, what would.

35:32

It be and why?

35:33

Oh?

35:33

Okay, I mean, I feel like your answer should

35:35

be a little baby kangaroo.

35:37

I was gonna say that, but then I was gonna say kuala

35:39

But then, aren't they like the number one

35:41

carrier of like chlamydia or is that a rumor

35:44

that I've just heard what?

35:46

I'm pretty sure that kualas are known to carry

35:48

chlamydia. Kualas be fucking

35:52

google it. I'm pretty sure

35:54

this is a real fact. I feel like I don't

35:56

believe you right now. I think anything baby

35:59

like, little baby bears are cute, Little

36:01

baby leopards are cute, little baby

36:03

tigers, like any little

36:06

baby. I would be down for. Sam

36:08

is deep in.

36:10

Grad literally my search history

36:12

is suspect chlamydia and koalas

36:15

is caused by two kinds of bacteria,

36:17

which are different from the bacteria that causes

36:20

the disease in humans. Oh so it's

36:22

a different kind of chlamydia. Chlamydia

36:24

and humans originated

36:26

from the frog. I would definitely not have a

36:29

frog. Then Koalas are under threat

36:31

of extinction. Chlamydia is their second

36:33

highest killer. Only half of Koalas

36:35

survive the antabatic treatment for the disease. We

36:38

should fix that, kids,

36:41

there's something we can donate to Chlamydia

36:43

cannot be transmitted to humans from koalas.

36:46

Okay, then I'd have a Koala. I feel like

36:49

this podcast should be called Tangents

36:54

Chlamydia Lamydia Tangents.

36:56

I am currently obsessed with kappy

36:59

baras. I know you're canceled

37:01

done by.

37:02

I think those are the grossest things I've ever

37:05

seen. They give me nightmares. I hate rodents.

37:07

Any type of like rodent freaks

37:10

me out. That is my worst nightmare.

37:13

But they're so cute.

37:14

No, it's a massive rodents. That's

37:16

literally what it is. I would There's

37:18

so many things I would rather do than have to touch

37:20

it. I saw

37:22

one with a little Lee Shawn yesterday on Instagram.

37:25

I'm sure you did. Dam sure. My

37:27

feed is like page my

37:30

friends Kathy Bara's kaby

37:32

baras. It's incredible.

37:34

What's the most scandalous rumor you've ever heard about

37:36

yourself, and is it true?

37:38

Like online or just in person? I

37:40

would say online, okay, the in

37:42

person ones are pretty funny. I told this story.

37:45

This was maybe the first or

37:47

second podcast I ever did.

37:50

I got on a tangent surprising about

37:53

cutting banks and how I went through a

37:55

really hard time in my life and every

37:57

time I do I cut banks, it's

37:59

just fine.

38:00

I know where this is going everything

38:02

I do.

38:02

So I was in college and I was

38:05

like a virgin, didn't know anything.

38:07

There was a rumor going around that I

38:10

had crabs, and so I told

38:12

this story and everyone in

38:14

the room I was crying, laughing.

38:16

It was one of like the best podcast

38:18

moments.

38:19

That was a terrible room, highly traumatic,

38:23

also funny. I would rather

38:26

someone say that I had chlamydia than crabs.

38:28

Crabs is the worst thing that you could possibly

38:30

have. That is horrible. It was not true

38:32

at all. Thank you for clearing

38:35

that up, because until now I wasn't sure. I

38:37

feel like you feel very strongly about

38:39

the ranking of sees.

38:42

You know, I haven't thought about it, but maybe we need to make

38:44

a list. That was a bad rumor.

38:46

Another one was when my picture

38:50

was I didn't consent to news sent

38:52

down into the world, and people

38:55

on mini tours and guys were taking

38:57

that picture and using it as like, quote unquote

39:00

proof that I slept with them. And so

39:02

I would meet people and they'd be like, oh,

39:04

you know my buddy so and so, and

39:07

I was like, I've never met them in my life and they

39:09

go, oh, really, because they showed me a picture. I'm

39:11

like, let me guess it was, and they're like, yeah, that

39:13

was the one. I'm like, yeah, they stole that off

39:16

of the internet without my consent, which

39:18

is horrible to do, and

39:20

then they claimed that they had an

39:22

intimate relationship with me, and I dealt

39:24

with that for years and I still deal with that to

39:26

this day. Of people making up false rumors

39:29

that they've been with me and I've never even met them in my

39:31

entire life. That's kind to feel really creepy.

39:33

It's creepy, it's really invasive.

39:36

It's a horrible feeling because

39:38

you're just going around meeting people for the first

39:40

time and they have this idea of you in

39:42

their head and none of it is true. I

39:44

had to stop practicing at a course in Arizona

39:47

because the ball. The cart guys

39:49

were telling customers that they slept

39:52

with me, and I was getting DMS from the

39:54

customers telling me what these the

39:56

car guys were saying about me, and none of it

39:58

was true. I was married at the time this

40:01

was even going on. I'm like, there's the horrible

40:03

things that people are saying, and I'm like, I've

40:05

never met them, i don't talk to them, like none.

40:08

Of it is true.

40:09

And I think those are the hardest ones, where it's like

40:11

stuff about like being intimate with someone

40:13

you don't even know, you've never even met,

40:15

and that that's like a very like disgusting

40:18

feeling.

40:19

Yeah, yeah, I can imagine.

40:21

Another one that was actually a

40:23

headline that I got

40:25

a lot of flaxs for was during

40:27

this podcast. I was doing a TNA and someone

40:29

said do you wear what

40:32

do you wear under your golf skirts? And I say, I

40:34

wear shorts. I just wear like Spanky's

40:37

under my golf skirts. And the headline

40:39

was Page doesn't wear under

40:41

anything or Page doesn't wear underwear under

40:43

her skirts. And so I had

40:45

like partners reach out and they were really confused

40:47

about what was going on. This was like very kind of

40:49

early on of the podcast. Days, and

40:52

people like would come up to me after

40:54

that and ask me if I was wearing panties

40:56

under my skirt or not because of this headline.

40:59

And then you on the headline and it was like, she

41:01

hasn't wear that because she wears shorts, and it

41:04

was like, oh my.

41:04

Gosh, that is proof right there

41:06

that people will take your words and flip

41:09

them into whatever they want to.

41:10

Yeah. So, if you could play golf

41:12

with any fictional character, who would

41:15

it be? And why? What's yours?

41:17

I mean I would say like SpongeBob

41:19

or something a SpongeBob gal

41:21

growing up.

41:22

Yeah, I don't know. I thought this question was weird.

41:24

I thought you would have a good answer

41:27

from like the Cammi stuff

41:30

or I don't know.

41:31

Probably yeah, probably like Black

41:33

Widow would be cool, little dynamic

41:36

duo.

41:36

I like that answer. If you could swap

41:39

lives with any celebrity for a day,

41:41

who would it be and what would you do?

41:43

Probably Nelly Gordon to see what it feels like to win

41:45

a.

41:47

Page that was so deep, See what

41:49

the other side of it's like to

41:52

actually be respected and accomplished

41:54

for.

41:55

Your skills and you got

41:57

it? Great now I made her cry.

41:59

Everyone No, I think I actually.

42:01

Would be really interesting because obviously I

42:03

know what it feels like to do the

42:05

media side and be the

42:07

best at what I do, but it would be nice

42:09

to see what it feels like if I

42:12

was, you know, number one in the world and to win.

42:14

It feels like to be a winner. I like that answer.

42:16

Similarly, I would go on Shark Tank

42:19

and be Barbara Corkoran.

42:20

Barbara, I love her.

42:21

I am on Barbara Corcoran TikTok right now,

42:23

where like every video is of Barbara

42:26

Corkoran. And I watched this interview with her last

42:28

night where she said she proposed

42:31

to her husband before she slept with him.

42:33

Wow, in the first week of

42:35

knowing him, she proposed to him. And she

42:37

also proposed to her husband before

42:40

him.

42:40

So what we've learned is maybe don't do this.

42:43

Yeah, I don't know.

42:44

I think I just think she's really interesting and I

42:46

think she's a crazy cool business

42:48

woman and I really love the show Shark Tank.

42:51

So we should create a business and

42:53

go on Shark Tank. Okay, I like that

42:56

with all of our spare time. That's all of our spare

42:58

time. That's what we're going to do.

42:59

You know. It was fun. Let's do

43:01

it again. It's that we don't know

43:03

how to start or end this podcast. That's

43:05

very true.

43:06

I feel like the start of them are always

43:08

terrible and the endings are great

43:10

though, you know, they're really good. They just kind

43:12

of bring it all together. And we just want

43:14

to thank you for listening and supporting,

43:17

and we will be picking a winner

43:19

for the giveaway and arl okay,

43:22

we have picked the winners of the giveaway. Congratulations

43:24

to everyone who participated, and thank you guys

43:27

so much for that.

43:27

It was so much fun going to get all of that year.

43:30

We hope that you love it and you.

43:32

Will see us,

43:34

you will hear us.

43:37

Yeah, next time, Love you bye,

43:39

okay, love you bye.
