It looked like somebody was bent
0:06
over and had their head in the
0:08
window of the deer blind and it
0:11
either heard me or smelt me and he pulled
0:13
his head out of the tent and stood straight
0:15
up and that
0:18
shocked me. They
0:24
don't make people that big. The
0:31
way it moved almost
0:34
as if it was gliding across the beach. I've
0:38
never seen anything move like that in my life.
0:45
They were screaming at each other in gibberish.
0:49
It sounded like a language and they were
0:51
chuntering away back and forwards, back and forwards,
0:53
back and forwards. I
0:57
know what a bear looks like and there is no way
0:59
on this planet that what I saw bears.
1:05
911, what are you
1:08
reporting? Jesus
1:12
Christ, you better turn,
1:14
see him. Hello?
1:17
Get somebody out here. What's going on now, sir? Do
1:20
you see him now? Yes, the
1:23
book of identity. Uh-oh. This is Brian
1:25
from Ohio.
1:31
O-H. Ohio! And
1:33
you're listening to... The best quadrant in the whole
1:36
universe. Sasquatch, Brian. Here we go. The best quadrant
1:38
in the whole universe. Sasquatch, Brian. Welcome
2:02
to the show
2:05
everyone. Thanks
2:28
for being here tonight. I had a great show planned
2:30
for you. We'll be chatting with
2:32
Ken. Ken comes to us
2:34
from Ohio. Back
2:36
in 2019, he was kind of
2:38
doing a last two raw with
2:41
the boys out there
2:43
camping. They had
2:45
an unexpected visitor. I kind of like Ken go
2:47
into it. If you've had
2:49
an encounter and you'd like to be on the
2:51
show, shoot me an email. My
2:53
email address is wes
2:56
at sasquatchcronicles.com. And
2:58
if you get a chance, check
3:00
out sasquatchcronicles.com. You can become
3:03
a member and get additional shows. And
3:05
I'll be back tomorrow night for the members. But
3:09
tonight, let's actually jump into it. I
3:11
want to welcome Ken to the show. Ken,
3:14
thanks for coming on. Thank
3:17
you, Wes, for having me. It's a pleasure. Now
3:20
you have this encounter back in 2019 in Ohio.
3:25
If you would, Ken, just kind of start
3:27
from the beginning. What were you doing and
3:30
what happened? So
3:32
to kind of trace back to the time, so
3:35
there's four of us, fresh out
3:37
of college, undergraduate students,
3:40
pretty much just graduated back in May of
3:42
that 2019 year. We
3:46
were all excited to just enjoy
3:48
the summer before we had real
3:50
jobs. So we
3:52
all decided to plan a camping
3:54
trip. For us,
3:57
the best location was Cuyahoga
3:59
Valley National. Park. Really
4:01
that was about 30-35 minutes from Cleveland where
4:03
we were going to school. So
4:06
that made the most sense for us. So
4:08
this happened right around July
4:11
or August of that
4:13
summer. I can't exactly remember the
4:15
exact date when it happened but
4:17
it was right around that time. So
4:20
we went there and we sat
4:22
our camp up. Everything was going
4:24
great. The vibes were
4:26
awesome. We were just drinking beers, just
4:28
being guys, young guys. All
4:31
of a sudden one of
4:33
the guys said, hey, what's
4:35
going on? And
4:38
I was like, the park's closed. They said, we
4:40
probably shouldn't be out there hiking. You
4:42
never know what's going to happen. If
4:44
a park ranger is going to catch
4:47
us or whatever, there could be any
4:49
animal in there. You don't know.
4:51
There could be a predator. But as
4:54
we started drinking more, our
4:57
bravery and our liquid courage
4:59
came into fruition. So
5:02
we were parked probably, I'd say,
5:06
a mile and a half from this trail and
5:09
we all decided to start
5:12
walking there. So we were
5:14
camped probably, let
5:16
me see, from the river, I'd
5:19
say two
5:21
miles and from the path, maybe another
5:23
mile and a half. So the river
5:25
was quite a bit away. So
5:28
we started walking there and everything was
5:31
good. It wasn't fully dark out yet, but
5:35
the darkness of the night was starting to set in. It was
5:38
right around dusk time. So we were hiking
5:41
and we were about 30 minutes then to
5:43
this
5:46
hike and things started to get
5:48
a little eerie. We started
5:50
hearing branches, hearing
5:52
things moving around. When
5:54
you got a little bit of alcohol in you, you might
5:56
think, oh, it's just my mind playing with me. You're
5:59
not all there coherently. We
6:02
keep walking down this trail and
6:05
we start getting stuff thrown
6:07
at us. At
6:09
first it's not much. We
6:11
got a couple sticks here and there
6:14
thrown behind us. We're thinking
6:16
maybe it's just an animal or
6:18
something small, but we
6:21
started taking a little bit more serious when things
6:23
started getting worse. We started getting
6:25
a little bit of rocks thrown at us.
6:28
The rocks weren't huge, but
6:30
they're stuff that came from the river like small
6:32
pebbles and stuff. They didn't hit any of us,
6:35
but they hit behind us. So you could tell
6:37
there was something messing with us. All of
6:40
us are talking. We're like, somebody's playing a prank on
6:42
us. We thought somebody's
6:44
pranking us, maybe teens, because it was
6:46
the summer time so teenagers go out
6:48
there, hang out and stuff. So you don't
6:50
know who's out there. It's after dark and
6:52
you don't know what's going on. But
6:55
as time went on, we went
6:58
down the trail. We were
7:00
starting to get a little nervous. So
7:02
all of a
7:05
sudden, as we were walking, we
7:07
started smelling something and it didn't
7:09
smell good. It had
7:12
this pungent smell to it, almost like
7:14
rotten eggs, like sewage.
7:17
So me, I'm thinking, maybe it's just
7:19
something in the water. We're
7:22
around a swamp, so that could attribute to it.
7:25
But
7:29
my other buddy was walking
7:31
and he's like, something
7:33
doesn't feel right. There feels like there's something
7:35
in the woods here watching us, like a
7:38
predator or something. The woods just
7:40
didn't feel right. You know how you feel
7:42
that way? You just feel like
7:44
something's off. So we
7:46
all felt that same way. So
7:49
really, none of us had any flashlights on us
7:51
except our phones. So we
7:54
all decided to turn our phones on
7:56
and use that light to guide us. So, you
7:59
know, You know, it just
8:01
didn't feel right. We were walking, you
8:03
know, there's no other light around, no
8:06
ambient light whatsoever. You know,
8:08
you're scared. You feel like you're on the set of
8:10
Blair Witch or something back there. I mean, these woods,
8:13
you feel creepy. You know, it just doesn't
8:15
feel right. And
8:18
we all kind of scared ourselves. We psyched
8:20
ourselves out. So we started running. And
8:24
we're like, you know, what the hell is going on
8:26
here? You know, we
8:29
got to figure this out. We got to get out of here. And
8:32
all of a sudden, you know, we hear stuff behind
8:34
us. We
8:36
feel like somebody's chasing us. We hear stuff in the
8:38
woods around us. And
8:41
then we're running probably, I can't remember if it's
8:43
like two minutes. We're all running for two
8:45
minutes straight back to camp. You just get the
8:47
hell out of these woods. And
8:51
we all stop to catch our breath. And like,
8:53
guys, you know, catch your breath, get
8:56
it together, and just give it
8:58
a moment. And
9:00
it was probably not even 45 seconds
9:03
later that we were all
9:05
standing there and we heard this loud.
9:08
It was almost like a... I couldn't even
9:10
describe it. It's almost like
9:12
a combination of a bear, like an angry
9:14
bear, or like
9:16
a pack of wolves rallying at you. I
9:19
mean, I can't even explain it, but it was
9:21
just... Once you hear it, you just don't
9:23
forget it. So we
9:25
heard that. And that didn't last maybe longer
9:27
than five seconds. And
9:30
after that, you know, we were just
9:32
stone cold frozen. None of us could
9:34
move. We couldn't think. We
9:37
were just trying to process what happened. We're like,
9:39
what in the heck just happened? So,
9:42
you know, we're looking around. I'm looking
9:44
at my other buddy next
9:46
to me. And I know he had a gun
9:48
on him. And I'm like, hey, you know, get
9:50
that out. We don't know what's going on. So
9:53
he ended up shining it. I was saying
9:55
it was a Beretta 9 millimeter. He ended
9:57
up shining it into the tree line. And
10:01
we saw something we never
10:03
wanted to see ever
10:06
again. I
10:08
don't even know what kind of hue
10:11
make a compare to this. This
10:13
thing had to be at
10:15
least seven, seven and a
10:18
half feet tall, like
10:20
Andre the Giant size. I mean,
10:22
I'm close to six foot, you know,
10:24
240 pounds. And
10:27
I'm looking at this thing and it's at
10:29
least another foot and a half taller than I
10:31
am now, at least, you know, two of
10:33
me wide. This thing had
10:35
it been, you know, five, 550 pounds, just
10:39
outrageously big. And
10:41
we're all just standing there, you know,
10:44
we couldn't move, we're like stones, like we're just
10:46
shocked. We
10:48
don't know what to do. And
10:50
as soon as that light hit that thing,
10:54
you saw a little glare of the eyes, not quite like
10:58
a deer, but you saw a little glare of
11:00
the eyes, like yellowish glare. And
11:02
as soon as the light hit it, it
11:05
moved right behind this giant oak tree it
11:07
was standing by. And
11:10
he was, you know, pointing the light around that
11:12
area and it seemed
11:14
like it vanished. It wasn't there ever. It
11:16
just disappeared out of thin air. Whatever
11:21
it was, didn't want to be seen, but whatever it
11:23
was, wanted to let us know we shouldn't have been
11:25
there. Almost
11:27
like it was watching out for the area, kind
11:30
of like, you know, an overspier, overwatch type thing.
11:34
So after this, we're like, we
11:37
got to get the hell out of here. So
11:39
we immediately we ran back, you know, gathered our
11:41
breath, ran it back fast as fast as we
11:43
could back to camp. You
11:45
know, we're just sheer terror at this point.
11:48
My one buddy, I won't
11:50
mention his name, but he peed in
11:53
his pants. He was so scared. We
11:56
got back to our tents. And
11:59
I just remember. getting back and just trying
12:01
to unzip it as quick as I could. And I
12:04
was fumbling with my hands. My hands were,
12:06
you know, I couldn't
12:08
even open the tent. So
12:11
my other buddy had to open it for us, but
12:14
we had two tents set up at this camp
12:17
and they were parallel from each other. And we
12:19
had this fire pit right in the middle. And
12:22
the fire was still burning from earlier. So
12:25
you could smell it, you know, and everything. Fire
12:28
wasn't too big. So we're just, you know, we just
12:31
got to get in our tents, you know, leave the
12:33
fire. Be so
12:35
as we're, you know, running
12:37
into our sleeping bags, like just
12:40
getting our sleeping bag, like just forget this
12:42
happened. This thing's not going to mess with
12:44
us anymore. We're young, dumb and stupid. We're
12:46
like, oh, this, you know, we're not in
12:48
danger whatsoever. Even though this
12:50
thing just presented itself to us, it could
12:52
tear us all in from limb. But,
12:55
you know, as the night goes on, I'd say
12:57
this is probably the occurrence happened around 10 30.
13:02
And as the night progressed, I'd
13:05
say from 12, maybe
13:07
the two 30 in the morning, you hear
13:10
all types of things off and on you
13:13
hear, you know, hear our stuff outside. We
13:15
had a couple pots and pans. We heard
13:17
those like something was, you know, coming up
13:19
to it and knocking it
13:21
over. We had a bunch of
13:23
eating utensils out on the table. Those
13:26
were knocked over. We
13:28
had the fire going. The fire
13:30
was extinguished. I don't know how
13:32
this happened. And like I
13:35
said, there was all kinds of stuff overnight
13:37
that we heard. I, I
13:39
was just, you know, shaking in my
13:41
bag. I didn't know what
13:44
to do at that point. I just felt helpless.
13:46
You know, you feel defenseless. You just like, you know,
13:48
you're just, just stay in one place. I
13:51
was, you know, at that point, I was just like, whatever
13:53
happens to me happens to me. If I die, I die.
13:55
At least I die with my friends. So
13:58
at that point, you know, we made it through. the
14:00
night somehow. And
14:03
in the morning, we woke up, we
14:05
were all nervous to open our tents because we didn't
14:07
know what we were going to open it to. But
14:10
we opened our tents. And
14:12
to our surprise, our
14:15
camp had been destroyed.
14:17
All our eating utensils were on the
14:19
ground. There were sticks
14:21
thrown everywhere. The logs
14:23
that had been in the fire were strewn
14:25
apart. We had
14:28
multiple things. One of our buddies had a
14:31
backpack and it had multiple things
14:33
in it, all kinds of stuff, like survival
14:35
gear and all that. It was
14:37
open, ripped open, and stuff
14:39
was just thrown all over the
14:42
campsite. It opened it up and just
14:44
threw it everywhere. So
14:46
we're like, what the heck? This
14:48
is insane. We didn't know
14:50
the process. And we're still in a shock
14:52
from what happened the previous night. And
14:55
like I said previously,
14:58
we had found a pile
15:00
of stones right next to
15:02
the fire pit. These weren't
15:05
just any stones. These were like
15:07
boulder sized rocks. Somebody would have
15:09
had to pick these up.
15:11
I mean, maybe one or two people even pick these
15:14
rocks. I mean, they were heavy rocks and
15:16
put these neatly in perfectly right next
15:18
to the fire. There's probably five or
15:21
six of them piled up and there
15:23
was two piles of them. And
15:26
we were looking at this thing and we're
15:28
just in a shock. What could
15:30
have done this? What could have piled
15:32
this up? There's no way a bear could have done this. I
15:36
know bears are pretty smart. They go through
15:38
stuff. They go through trash. But
15:40
I don't think a bear had the mental
15:42
capacity to figure this one out, stack these
15:44
up perfectly like this. So
15:48
we're all talking to each other. We're like, we're
15:51
never going to come back here again. We just
15:55
had bad luck. Whatever. to
16:00
us didn't want us to be here. It just
16:03
didn't feel like a welcome feeling. So
16:07
looking back on it in 2024, I'm like,
16:09
I can't believe that happened. I can't believe
16:11
I saw in flash and
16:13
blood what I believe to be bigfoot,
16:16
saw-scratch. I just can't
16:19
fathom that this happened
16:21
to me and four of my friends. And
16:24
ever since then, it affects
16:26
you mentally. I haven't
16:29
wanted to talk to anybody about it.
16:31
I think it's crazy that this happened
16:33
to me. And I think other people think
16:36
I'm crazy. But as I listen
16:38
to this podcast, I've
16:40
had the courage to come out and speak on it. Because
16:42
I hear more and more about
16:44
this same area. And I've heard
16:47
a couple podcast episodes recently regarding
16:49
the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. And
16:52
it wasn't explicitly stated it was where this was, but
16:54
I know in Ohio, there's only one national park. It's
16:56
this one. So I might as
16:58
well come out and share my experience. Give
17:01
the listeners something they want to hear feed into
17:03
this stuff going on around
17:05
this area. But ever
17:07
since that time, I've
17:10
processed this differently. I've just
17:12
shut this out. My
17:14
three other friends, one of
17:16
them lives up in Wisconsin, up near the
17:19
Upper Peninsula, Michigan, that area there. He's
17:21
studying anthropology right now. So he's actually, this
17:23
has taken such an interest in him that
17:26
he decided to take this on instead of
17:28
this. My other
17:30
friend moved down to Dayton. I
17:32
don't hear from him anymore, really.
17:34
He's into some narcotics and
17:37
stuff like that to cope with things. And
17:39
then our other friend refuses to even
17:41
talk about this whatsoever. He
17:45
just wants to think it
17:47
was some anomaly.
17:49
And at the time, I don't know
17:51
what he... He thinks
17:53
he was on some stuff to this day. He
17:55
says that he was smoking
17:57
some marijuana. saw.
18:00
That's what he wants to believe. With
18:03
the three other of us, we know what
18:05
we saw and we're
18:08
wholeheartedly believers in this
18:11
being. Yeah, I
18:13
always love when critics bring up that argument.
18:15
You know, you can smoke all the weed
18:18
you want, you can drink all you want,
18:20
you're not going to have delusions of
18:22
seeing giants, wrong chemical.
18:25
But you know, I wanted
18:27
to ask you about the rocks. You know,
18:29
and I know that you don't know, and
18:31
I don't know, but what's your opinion on
18:33
why? Why would it stack up all those
18:35
rocks by the fire? I honestly,
18:38
I think that it put stones there
18:41
to remind us what
18:43
we saw in that this thing
18:46
wanted us to know that, you
18:49
know, it spared us, it
18:51
didn't do anything to us, but it spared us and
18:54
wanted to let us know that we shouldn't have
18:56
been out in the park past eight o'clock. And
18:59
we should have listened to our, we should have
19:01
all listened to ourselves and not done this and
19:04
went out, explored like this when the park
19:06
closed down. But I still
19:08
think to this day that it
19:10
put those stones
19:12
up for a reason. And it did that,
19:15
because it wanted us to know that it was there,
19:17
it was watching us. It
19:20
had the capacity to kill us, but
19:22
it didn't, it chose not to, which
19:25
to me, in my mind, I
19:28
see the Bigfoot Sasquatch, and whatever you want
19:31
to call it, I see it as more
19:33
of a spiritual being something supernatural.
19:36
I think there's many
19:38
species of it. If you want to ask
19:40
me to be honest, I think there's several
19:42
species of Sasquatch. I think there's good
19:45
ones, I think there's bad ones, but I
19:47
think this one was one of the good ones. I
19:49
think what it was doing to us on that trail
19:51
was playing with us, kind of toying with us, you
19:54
know, hey, you know, don't
19:57
mess with me, but I want you to know I'm here
19:59
and I want you to know I'm here. you know what you're doing isn't right.
20:02
I gotcha. Kind of like a calling card, kind of
20:04
like I was here. Um,
20:07
you know, I've heard this behavior before and I want
20:09
to, I'll share with you my opinion on what I
20:11
think it was doing with those rocks,
20:14
uh, and I'll come back to that in a moment, but when
20:17
it was kind of rummaging around through camp,
20:19
did it vocalize at all? You
20:23
know, thinking back on it,
20:25
I, when I did hear, I did hear,
20:28
um, some footsteps.
20:30
Outside, but you know, being
20:32
in the woods, you know, it could be
20:34
anything. It could be, you
20:36
know, coyotes. Um, I heard
20:38
multiple things through the night. And at that
20:40
point when I was sleeping in the tent, you know,
20:42
I was out in and out of sleep. So
20:45
I'm like, you know, is it just my
20:47
mind messing with me? What's going
20:49
on here? Um, but I did
20:51
hear some footsteps. I heard some
20:53
rustling of our tent itself. Um,
20:56
and I did. Think
20:58
I saw a shadow come by the tent at
21:00
one point. Um, I couldn't
21:02
describe what the shadow was, but it was so
21:05
fast. The shadow went by it
21:07
very quickly. And I was,
21:09
you know, I, I was like, Oh my Lord. Like,
21:11
I didn't know if it was, you know, the trees
21:13
messing with me out because we were in a wooded
21:15
area. I didn't know if the trees going back because
21:17
there was wind, you know, granted this
21:19
is the summer time, you know, the weather's variable.
21:21
Luckily it didn't rain or anything, but there was
21:23
wind at that time going around. Um,
21:26
so I, like I said,
21:29
I heard some, a little bit of
21:31
rustling outside the tent, but I didn't
21:33
hear any growling outside the tent. I
21:35
didn't hear any, um,
21:37
you know, soft squash noises or sounds
21:39
like that. Thankfully we only
21:41
heard one. So, um,
21:43
yeah, that that's what I heard as
21:45
I slept. And
21:47
when you guys got up in the morning and you're
21:49
kind of examining the whole
21:52
campsite and what, what actually
21:54
happened, did you notice that it
21:56
had taken anything? So.
22:00
It's funny because our
22:02
one buddy, he's a vegan and
22:04
he brought a vegan meal
22:08
and he had a pot
22:10
of beans and
22:13
lentils. And this beans and
22:15
lentils was sitting by the fire
22:18
and he woke up and he's like, where's my,
22:20
you know, I had my pot of beans here.
22:23
I guess to him it was a nice pot
22:25
that he brought. It was a pretty nice pot
22:27
and set that he
22:29
brought. And that pot set in
22:32
the beans was nowhere to be found.
22:35
That was right by where the rocks were, right by
22:37
that fire pit. And that
22:39
was gone. And he was the same one
22:41
that actually brought that backpack with, you know, the survival gear
22:43
and all that stuff in it. All
22:46
his stuff was thrown, you know, all around the
22:48
campsite. But it did take
22:50
that pot of beans. It took that. You
22:53
know, Ken, in a lot of encounters
22:55
when people have these things on their
22:58
property, you'll hear about them
23:00
having like a gifting stump where
23:03
they'll gift something to Sasquatch and
23:05
Sasquatch will leave something back. I
23:07
think they're leaving a tribute, but
23:10
I don't want to get caught up in
23:12
this moment with the minutia of labels. But
23:14
you often hear of them taking something,
23:16
but also leaving you
23:19
something. And it makes me wonder
23:21
if it took the beans
23:23
and left that stack of rocks
23:26
as kind of an exchange or kind of
23:29
like a deal back and forth as opposed
23:31
to kind of what you were thinking earlier
23:33
as far as, you know, this
23:35
thing wanted to let you know it was there. I
23:38
almost wonder if it was like an exchange or
23:40
something like that. What are your thoughts? I
23:43
didn't think of it that way. I
23:46
actually I think that's a good
23:48
explanation for that. I mean, very
23:51
well could have in
23:53
its mind thought that it was
23:55
more of a trade. It was trading these
23:58
rocks in nature. for
24:00
this pot of beans. That very well could be
24:02
true. It made
24:04
me wonder, when you were talking about your
24:07
campsites already trashed, so it already
24:09
sent you a message, but the
24:11
rock thing kind of threw me off.
24:13
I was like, well, why would it take the
24:15
time to kind of stack up rocks like that?
24:18
But I've heard of them doing weird stuff
24:20
like that before when they take something from
24:23
a camp or even
24:25
people's property. They'll leave weird
24:27
stuff like that. Before
24:30
you guys even saw the creature,
24:33
you talked about hearing this growling.
24:36
Was the growling only... Was
24:38
it one thing growling at you? Yes.
24:41
So it was right at
24:43
this location that he shined the light on.
24:45
It was the distance and the direction that
24:48
the growl came from. And it
24:51
was one growl. And like I said, it
24:53
probably lasted about five to eight seconds somewhere
24:56
in that time frame. And
24:58
you heard it. When
25:00
you hear it, you never forget it. It's
25:02
just something that sticks with you.
25:05
It's indescribable to me. It's
25:07
not like the Ohio howl that was recorded. It
25:09
wasn't anything like that. It wasn't a howl.
25:11
It was more like a deep
25:14
growl. Like it
25:17
was mad, but it wasn't like
25:19
it wanted to kill us. But it was
25:21
like a growl, almost like a guard
25:23
dog standing in a fence growling at you, letting
25:26
you know that you shouldn't be there and
25:29
it sees you. That's probably the best way to
25:31
describe this growl. It
25:33
was deep. It
25:35
was something like a bear. You
25:38
could tell this thing was huge. Whatever
25:40
it was, this barreled, deep growl
25:42
is probably the best way I can describe it.
25:46
The other thing I was curious about, Candice,
25:49
you were recounting what happened to you. You
25:52
talked about your buddy having a gun and he
25:54
put his gun up, but you're also talking about a light. Was
25:56
the light on the gun? It was a light. Wasn't
26:00
like a separate flashlight that he
26:02
had? Yes.
26:05
So he had that Beretta on
26:07
him and he had that
26:09
flashlight on him. And that was all he had
26:11
as far as I know. I had like a pocket
26:14
knife on me. This thing wouldn't have done anything. My
26:17
other buddies didn't have anything on them, but he was
26:19
the one that did have this gun on him. You
26:21
know, he brought it with them just for protection to
26:24
the woods. He's
26:26
one of those types of guys. He's kind of
26:28
like a survivalist type guy. He
26:31
always has something on him just for protection. But
26:33
you know, luckily he had that on him and
26:36
he was in such a shock. He didn't even think
26:38
of trying to shoot at it or anything. He was
26:40
just kind of in a shock, just
26:43
point, just pointing the light at where this thing
26:45
was. And I'd say the
26:47
distance from where he was standing with the
26:49
gun to the tree
26:51
line was probably 30
26:53
or 40 feet. So
26:56
when he shined that light on it, we got a
26:58
pretty good view of this thing.
27:01
And like I said, it was
27:03
bigger than any human. Like, you
27:05
know, the closest thing I could compare
27:07
it to maybe like Andre the Giant. It was
27:10
just wide, huge, very tall.
27:13
It was dark brown. It
27:15
had some black to it as well. That's what
27:17
I remember about this thing. Dark brown and black.
27:20
And it used the oak tree as
27:22
cover. So, you know, a
27:25
little bit of its body was actually
27:27
hidden because of this tree. But for the
27:29
most part, you could probably see, you know,
27:32
three quarters of its body and the tree
27:34
was concealing the rest of it. Yeah.
27:37
I'm really curious on what stands out to you when
27:39
he hit it with the light. Before
27:41
I ask you that, you know, before
27:44
you had this incident happen to you, what
27:46
was kind of your take on the whole subject
27:49
of Sasquatch? So
27:51
I've always been a believer myself.
27:54
I've always believed in the unknown. I believe in
27:56
ghosts. I believe in the paranormal. So. I
28:00
went into this thinking, I
28:04
was the one that suggested we don't go in the
28:06
woods because there could be anything in these woods. So
28:09
I was the one with more of
28:11
that sense that these things
28:13
do exist and some
28:15
of these things aren't out to help you, they can
28:17
harm you. My other buddy
28:20
that had the firearm on him, he
28:23
reads up on Bigfoot things. He
28:27
believes in cryptids
28:29
and all that. So he's a believer.
28:32
The other two really didn't care whatsoever.
28:35
These guys, they don't care about any of that. They're just
28:37
going to the woods, going there to
28:39
camp and have a good time. They're outdoorsy people.
28:41
They like to hike and stuff like that. But
28:45
I definitely think after this, it
28:47
changed their perspective on
28:49
their beliefs. I certainly think they
28:51
walked away from this experience with
28:54
a whole other perspective and set of beliefs than
28:56
they had before. Can
28:59
I always say you can believe in Bigfoot
29:01
all day long, but it's very
29:03
different when you see it in person? I
29:06
think it definitely changes your whole perspective
29:08
in your reality as well. I
29:11
know just from listening to a lot
29:14
of the podcasts and watching a lot
29:16
of encounters, a lot
29:18
of similar things that happened to us.
29:23
The pungent smell, the
29:25
smell of rotten eggs,
29:28
sewage, your
29:30
hair stands up, you're just frozen.
29:33
A lot of these encounters I've
29:36
listened to and I've watched videos
29:38
of, just a lot of those
29:40
things that have commonalities compared
29:42
to our experience. This
29:45
many people have experiences and
29:47
they experience this horrible thing or it could
29:49
be a positive thing to some people when
29:51
a horrible thing to other people. I mean,
29:53
really, it's your
29:56
perception of your experience.
30:00
life, you know, it's your
30:02
perception is definitely your reality. And
30:04
it applies with encounters with these
30:07
things. I couldn't agree more. You
30:09
know, when he hit the thing with the
30:12
light, I realize all this is happening very,
30:14
very quickly. But when your buddy
30:16
put the gun up to with the light
30:19
and it shined on this saying or
30:22
some details that kind of stand out to you
30:24
even today. So
30:27
there wasn't anything
30:29
about this thing that
30:32
was like a man. To me,
30:36
I mean, there's no man
30:38
that's this wide in the waist. There's
30:41
no man that had that amount of hair on
30:43
them. And the hands,
30:45
you know, the one hand was resting on
30:47
the tree. It looks
30:50
like almost like, you know, something out of a movie.
30:53
It was very cartoonish the way it looked.
30:56
Thinking back, I was, you know, 30,
30:58
31 feet away. I'd
31:01
say 30, 35 at the most. You
31:03
know, looking back at this thing, you know, this
31:06
is a pretty bright light. And when it flashed on it,
31:09
it was it was it was scared of this light.
31:11
And I think that's why it retracted. But, you know,
31:13
details. I really think that I saw
31:16
what was a Sasquatch. This was no man.
31:19
I think, you know, you really
31:21
have to be a talented,
31:23
practical, faxed person to make make something
31:25
like this come to life. You
31:28
know, the amount of hair that would be required, you know,
31:30
the amount of gelatin that you'd have
31:33
to put into a suit to recreate this. I
31:36
truly do feel that what
31:38
I saw was was something
31:40
that was unhuman and it was
31:43
inhumanoid, that's for sure. I
31:45
did get sort of a glimpse at the face. And
31:48
like I said, I saw the eyes. They weren't like a
31:50
deer, but they were. They had a little bit of a
31:52
yellowish tint to them. The mouth.
31:55
I couldn't really make the mouth out, but I did see
31:57
part of the nose. The nose
32:00
was. was, you know, protruded out.
32:03
And I did kind of see it kind of
32:05
made out that it was like a, you know,
32:07
kind of like an old looking face. That's
32:09
probably the if I feel like if I would have had
32:12
a closer look, like maybe, you know, 10 feet away, not
32:14
that I wanted to be that close to it, but I
32:16
feel like it would have got a better picture what the
32:18
face look like. But from that
32:20
distance, you know, the only thing I saw was
32:22
that a face, you know, it looked kind of
32:24
look like it was worn down, like an old,
32:26
like type of primate looking face. Definitely
32:29
didn't look human whatsoever, but it had, you know, had
32:31
the eyes, had the nose, had the mouth, had
32:34
those human features, but it had more of
32:36
a primate, you know, rugged, worn
32:38
look to it. It's the best way I
32:40
could describe it from that distance. And
32:43
I think I caught it in the beginning, I might have
32:45
missed it, so forgive me. But from
32:48
the point where you guys saw this
32:50
creature to the distance to
32:52
get back to camp, what kind
32:54
of distance was that? I think he said earlier,
32:56
it was a couple miles. So
33:00
that was about a mile and
33:02
a half from this trail. So
33:05
we stood, our camp was
33:07
in the Boston Mills
33:09
area of the Cuyahoga Valley National
33:12
Park. And this trail, this
33:14
towpath trail was probably about a mile and
33:16
a half away. And this
33:18
towpath trail actually leads off into the woods
33:20
into a hiking trail. So that's actually where
33:23
we saw this thing was on that hiking
33:25
path. So that towpath is where it was
33:27
nesting with us. It's wide
33:29
open, that towpath is probably 30 feet wide.
33:32
And that's right next to the Cuyahoga
33:34
River, that towpath. So that's,
33:36
you know, that's where it was throwing rocks at
33:39
us and sticks were falling and stuff like that.
33:42
That's where that happened. But the camp where
33:44
we had our stuff thrown around,
33:46
that was about a mile and a half away from
33:48
this trail. You
33:50
know, what's, what's creepy though is unlike
33:53
any other animal on the planet, when
33:55
they encounter mankind, they flee. It's like
33:58
this thing followed you back to camp. Right.
34:01
It followed us back. And like
34:04
I said, it took, I
34:07
can't even remember how long it took for us to run
34:09
back to the camp. But it felt
34:12
like an eternity. When you're in an experience
34:15
like that, high stress
34:17
crisis situation, your heart's racing out
34:19
of your chest, you
34:21
just want to survive. And at that point, we were
34:24
just running as quick as we could back
34:26
to camp. And by the time we got back there,
34:28
we were just all winded. It was almost felt
34:32
like we ran five miles. I mean, it
34:35
was that bad. We were
34:37
just trying to catch our breath and calm
34:40
ourselves down. But I don't think any
34:42
of us relax whatsoever that night,
34:44
that night in that tent. After
34:47
seeing this saying, which as you describe
34:49
it, it's huge, and you guys
34:52
get back to camp, why not leave at that
34:54
point? We
34:57
at that point, we just
34:59
felt it was in our best interest
35:01
just to get back into
35:03
the tent and try to forget about it.
35:06
So at that moment, I truly don't know why we
35:08
didn't just get in our car and go. Thinking
35:11
back on it, it was
35:13
probably a dumb decision on our part
35:15
to stay there after seeing that, that
35:18
this thing is in the woods still. But
35:21
at that moment, we were young,
35:24
fresh out of school. We still had
35:26
the beer and stuff in us, the
35:28
liquor and things like that. We were
35:30
all just probably not the best state of
35:32
mind to get in our cars and drive either.
35:35
So we
35:38
decided to just stay there. Yeah,
35:41
I think you guys made the right
35:43
decision, especially if you've been drinking. Packing
35:46
up in the middle of the night, sometimes that
35:48
sounds like a great plan on paper, but executing
35:51
it is very different. It can be
35:54
a little bit tougher than you might
35:56
think, especially if you guys have been
35:58
drinking. Let me ask you,
36:00
it comes into your camp, it kind of
36:04
tears everything up, throws everything
36:06
around, takes your buddy's
36:08
beans. Why do
36:10
you think it didn't hurt anyone? I
36:14
don't know. That's a good question. And thinking
36:16
back to the experience, I always
36:18
ask myself that question. Why
36:21
did it decide to leave
36:24
us be? Because it very well could
36:26
have grabbed our tent and tossed us. This
36:28
thing had that strength,
36:31
that outwardly strength, that superhuman strength, it probably
36:33
could have taken the tent and threw us.
36:37
But I don't know why it didn't harm
36:39
us. And going back to that
36:42
spiritual aspect, I wonder
36:44
if they have
36:46
that sense of right and
36:49
wrong, if they just believe that
36:51
based on what we
36:54
were doing there, how we were acting
36:56
and how we reacted to seeing it at
36:59
first. We didn't shoot at it. We
37:01
weren't harmful to it. We
37:04
didn't chase it when it backed away. So
37:06
thinking back in my mind, I think back
37:08
and think that it was
37:10
more of a good Sasquatch. I think it didn't
37:13
want to harm us, but it just wanted to
37:15
kind of mess with
37:17
us and let us know, hey, you
37:20
shouldn't have been wandering back here, but
37:22
I'm going to let you know that I'm here. I'm
37:27
protecting this park. It was my
37:29
sense, I felt like it was more of a protector
37:31
of the national park than anything. Ken,
37:34
did you guys ever go back or did you
37:36
ever go back by yourself? So
37:39
my one buddy that lives in
37:41
Dayton has gone back. He went back a
37:44
year or so ago with
37:46
his girlfriend and they were just there to hike. He
37:48
didn't go anywhere near the path because
37:50
it's still hard for him. You
37:52
go anywhere near the campsite whatsoever,
37:56
but they did go to another part of the park and hike,
37:58
but he's been back to that park. just
38:00
to hike and enjoy
38:02
it recreationally. The
38:04
other two have not, and I
38:06
personally have not been there, but I
38:08
plan on making a
38:10
trip back at some point soon to
38:13
go walk around that area where it happened.
38:15
I think I've come to the
38:17
point where I've come to
38:19
terms with what happened, and I just wanna go back and
38:22
kinda walk through at least
38:24
the towpath and the hiking area. I
38:26
wanna go past where that happened
38:28
as well. I have
38:30
no reason to go back to the campsite. I'm not planning a
38:32
camping trip or anything back there, but I do
38:35
wanna go back and walk around the area. It
38:37
is a beautiful park. There's a lot to
38:39
appreciate about it. Yeah,
38:41
I think sometimes it's good to go back. It's
38:44
good for the soul to go back, even
38:46
though you really don't want to, and it'll
38:49
probably be uncomfortable going back. I
38:51
do think it's important. Earlier
38:54
you talked about Sasquatch, more
38:57
on the spiritual side. I ask everyone on the
38:59
show, what do you think Sasquatch is? What's
39:01
your take, Ken? This
39:06
is through watching multiple
39:09
videos, podcasts. I
39:12
truly think that Sasquatch is
39:14
a supernatural being, and
39:16
this is my honest thoughts on it.
39:18
I think that there's many of them. I
39:21
think some of them work in conjunction with
39:23
each other. I
39:25
do think that other cryptids are aware of them
39:27
as well. I wouldn't say
39:29
the cryptic community all gets along, but
39:32
I do think that some of them work
39:34
in conjunction with each other, and they
39:37
know they're there. They
39:39
all know where each other are. I think
39:41
that those areas
39:43
where they all, people see them
39:45
and stuff, I think there
39:47
could be multiple of them at the same time
39:50
in that area, but you just don't see them.
39:52
I think they hide very well, conceal themselves, but
39:54
I definitely think they do travel in groups. I
39:57
definitely think that in the
39:59
supernatural. aspect of it, for it to
40:01
just kind of vanish like that.
40:03
I'm not saying it vanished in the thin air,
40:06
but as big as this thing was,
40:09
I think if it ran, it
40:12
would make some type of noise where
40:15
you can hear sticks, you
40:17
can hear leaves, you can hear it running. We
40:19
didn't hear that when it vanished. It just
40:21
kind of stepped back, took a
40:24
step back behind the tree and it
40:26
was gone. It was very dark
40:28
too at that point, but like I said,
40:30
that aspect of Sasquatch makes me believe
40:32
that it's a supernatural being. So
40:35
that's my take on Sasquatch. So
40:38
when you say like it's supernatural, what do
40:40
you mean like a ghost or like a
40:42
demon? I guess when you
40:44
use a phrase like or the term supernatural,
40:47
what do you mean? So
40:50
I've kind of fed into the idea of the portals,
40:53
but these things use portals to travel
40:55
as well. Now I
40:57
might be completely wrong and some people might
40:59
think I'm extremely crazy in the Sasquatch community,
41:02
but I do think these things can
41:05
travel between portals to get
41:07
to locations very quickly. I've heard
41:09
stories of people watching
41:12
these things take one big
41:14
step or one or two
41:16
steps in traveling over a great amount of
41:18
space. So I think something
41:22
like this has that capacity to do that.
41:25
There's some supernatural aspect behind it. If
41:27
it can jump, if it can run,
41:30
and it can cover amount of area and
41:33
so little time, I certainly
41:35
think there's a supernatural degree behind that.
41:39
Yeah, I understand the way you feel. I
41:41
often think there's more going on here than
41:44
just a normal animal we haven't caught
41:46
up with. You know after this encounter,
41:48
Ken, how did this kind of affect
41:51
you? Have you been out camping or
41:53
anything since? So
41:56
I've had a scar since
41:58
that time. Believe
42:01
it or not, I haven't camped one time
42:03
since then, not one single time. I
42:05
have not camped there. I haven't camped there.
42:08
I haven't camped anywhere in the US. I
42:10
don't really go out after
42:13
8 o'clock anymore outside. So
42:16
if I need to take the trash out, I'll
42:18
do it 5.30, 6 o'clock at night. Once
42:22
it gets dark, obviously if I
42:24
have to go somewhere and I have to go somewhere at
42:26
night, I have to. I have no choice, but I don't
42:28
go out of my way to go walk around the woods
42:30
at nighttime anymore. Since
42:32
then, no. I'm an
42:34
avid believer this thing exists and I'm an avid
42:36
believer that it could be anywhere near me at
42:38
any time. It's not
42:40
limited to one area. I
42:42
certainly think these things travel
42:45
all around. Ohio being
42:47
part of the Appalachian
42:49
Trail, really, that area, we're not far
42:52
from the Appalachian Trail. I think these
42:54
things travel through that area quite frequently
42:56
and I think they veer off
42:59
and I think that's what happened with this one.
43:01
It ended up in that area, Cuyahoga Valley
43:03
National Park. I
43:05
think you guys handled it better than I
43:07
would have because I would have probably done
43:10
something stupid like started firing at this
43:12
thing. It's probably for the
43:14
best you didn't, but after
43:17
the scary night, you see this thing
43:19
and then it comes into your camp
43:21
and destroys your camp. After
43:23
going through all of this, if you
43:25
had the chance, would you want to see another one?
43:29
I'll be honest with you, I don't
43:32
know. I can't answer that truthfully. After
43:35
what I saw, I don't know if I want to see
43:37
it again. I certainly
43:39
want to see a
43:42
really good video that somebody captures
43:44
of this thing because in
43:46
the moment, we all had our phone
43:49
lights on, but we did not think for one
43:51
second that we were going to take a video
43:53
of this thing. Just didn't register in our minds
43:55
to do it. I think, honestly, that
43:57
kind of attributes to the lack of a video.
43:59
of video evidence that we have of these things.
44:03
People being in sheer terror, sheer shock,
44:05
they don't even think of doing it
44:07
at the moment. Everybody says, I
44:09
don't want anybody captured this on video. Why
44:12
hasn't anybody shot one yet? If they
44:14
really exist, why hasn't anybody physically
44:18
captured and or got
44:20
really good video evidence to this
44:23
thing? I
44:25
think these things have a way of putting
44:27
this fear of God into people that
44:30
you don't want to get it on video because
44:32
whatever you're looking at obviously
44:35
doesn't want to be videotaped. I
44:37
think to this day, as soon as you shine that light on
44:39
it, it did not want to be seen. Like
44:42
I said, it was maybe one
44:44
or two seconds that we
44:46
actually saw visualization of this thing in front of
44:49
us and then it vanished.
44:52
Yeah, I can tell you in most encounters, 99.9%
44:54
of the time, the eyewitness is more worried about
45:00
self-preservation than, hey, let
45:03
me document this moment in time in my
45:05
life about seeing this weird creature. People
45:08
don't think about pulling their phones out.
45:10
I want to ask you about the light. When
45:13
you guys shine the light on this thing, you
45:15
had mentioned it backed off and kind
45:17
of went back behind the tree. What
45:20
do you think it was about the light that got
45:22
the same to back off? I
45:25
honestly think back on it, Wes. That
45:28
light is pretty blinding. That
45:31
light that he had on that gun, it's probably at
45:33
least a thousand lumens, LED. When
45:36
you get that shine in your eyes, I know just
45:39
me, if I had that shine in my eyes, it would hurt
45:41
pretty bad. Thinking
45:43
back on this to this day, I think when
45:45
that light hit it, it was like a beam
45:47
hitting its eyes. I think
45:49
personally, it may have painted
45:52
a little bit in the eyes. It wasn't pleasant
45:54
for it. I think that's why it backed
45:56
off. When
45:58
we ran away, I think... I think it kept a certain
46:01
distance from us as well. It kind of
46:03
followed us from behind and
46:05
tailed us back to our location. It knew where
46:07
we were. I certainly think
46:09
it has a great sense of smell as well.
46:12
It had our scent, I'm sure, and it
46:14
knew where we were. It tracked us right back. You
46:18
know, as I'm thinking about what happened to
46:20
you guys at night, I almost wonder if
46:22
it wasn't so much the light, but
46:24
it was the gun. The
46:27
flashlight was on the gun and he pointed the
46:29
gun at this thing. It makes me
46:31
wonder if that's why it came in and kind
46:33
of wrecked your guys' camp. Yeah,
46:37
I'm wondering, honestly, because a 9mm certainly
46:39
can do some damage, but there's something
46:46
that big. I don't even think a
46:48
.44 Magnum or something of that caliber could take
46:51
it out. It
46:53
certainly means a whole lot more than a 9mm. You
46:55
do anything to a soft squash, in my opinion.
46:58
Hearing stories from Skinwalker Ranch, that
47:00
guy shot whatever
47:03
it was out there with a .357
47:05
Magnum multiple times and still walked up and
47:07
went off. Not saying
47:09
that's the same type of situation, but just
47:11
making a parable between guns. I
47:14
don't think a gun could do anything with
47:16
this thing, is my personal opinion.
47:19
Yeah, I agree with you. A 9mm is not going
47:21
to take this thing down, but it
47:23
doesn't know that it's a 9mm. I
47:27
had this old crazy Native
47:29
American that I was buddies with. He's
47:32
since passed away and got rest his
47:34
soul. He had
47:36
told me one time, you don't even have to
47:39
point a gun at them. Pick up anything and
47:41
point it at them and they'll back off. That's
47:44
why I was trying to figure out why would it
47:46
come in and wreck your guys' camp, take
47:48
the beans and peace out. I
47:50
kind of think it maybe it was, it had
47:53
recognized that gun. There's a lot of eyewitness
47:55
accounts to where these things seem
47:57
to recognize a weapon.
48:00
And I almost wonder if that's why it
48:02
backed off and then came back to kind
48:05
of give you a camp of what for for
48:07
pointing a weapon at it. You
48:11
really don't know the type of vision these things
48:13
have either. You know, they very well could have,
48:15
you know, superior vision. We have
48:17
no clue what kind of vision these things have.
48:19
It could have instantly, like you said, was recognize
48:21
that that was a weapon, recognize
48:23
the flashlight on the weapon and
48:26
recognize the way he was pointing the gun at it
48:28
in a intimidating
48:30
demeanor, say hey back off,
48:33
you know, we're armed. He
48:35
very well could have could have done this in
48:37
a kind of a retribution style
48:39
coming back and saying, hey, I'm the boss.
48:42
You know, I run stuff here. That was that's kind
48:44
of my take on what he did. He
48:47
or she I don't know what type of gender it
48:49
was. But to me, if I
48:51
could best describe this, this was definitely a male. Yeah,
48:54
it kind of sounds like it. And
48:57
I really appreciate you sharing this
48:59
encounter because it really helps me
49:01
because you'll hear accounts to where
49:03
like the rocks, they'll take
49:05
something from you, but generally
49:07
they'll leave something. And
49:09
I know when you guys came out of the tent
49:11
in the morning, you guys saw those rocks and we're probably
49:13
thinking, you know, what in the world? But
49:16
you didn't put two and two together with the
49:18
beans. And I'm not saying that's why I stacked
49:20
the rocks. I'm just giving you my opinion, of
49:22
course. I mean, I don't
49:25
have one of my garage I'm studying so I
49:27
could be 100 percent wrong. But
49:30
any on that coming in and kind
49:32
of wrecking the camp, I
49:35
don't think it was so much a light. I think it was
49:37
a gun that kind of pissed it off. But
49:40
again, you know, I'm kind of Monday
49:42
morning quarterbacking. I wasn't there. Just
49:45
opinions, of course. But I
49:47
really appreciate you coming on, Ken, and
49:49
sharing with us what happened to you. I
49:52
really enjoyed chatting with you, Ken. Absolutely
49:55
was. It was an honor to be on. Like
49:57
I said, I've been listening to your show. for
50:01
probably two years now. So I listen to it
50:03
every morning on the way to work, and I
50:05
listen to it. I try to
50:07
finish my episodes on the way back from
50:09
work. So I consider myself a veteran listener
50:11
on your show, and I
50:13
really appreciate you having me on. It
50:15
was an honor to share my story
50:18
with everybody, and hopefully the listeners, this
50:20
piques their curiosity, maybe about the national
50:23
parks, get some more people
50:25
out and exploring. Certainly
50:27
that's what I wanted to do with this experience. Thanks
50:31
again, Ken. And that's it
50:33
for tonight, everyone. Remember, if you've had an encounter,
50:35
shoot me an email. My
50:37
email address is Wes
50:40
at sasquatchchronicles.com, and
50:42
if you get a chance, check
50:44
out sasquatchchronicles.com. You can
50:46
become a member and get additional
50:48
shows. You know, I
50:50
came across this the other day in my
50:53
feed, and I really wanted to kind of
50:55
share it with you guys. You
50:57
know, in these current times that we live
51:00
in, there's so much that separates us as
51:03
a people, or we think that
51:05
we have that perception that we're separated by
51:07
so much, but you find
51:09
out in hard times that there's
51:12
very little that separates most Americans.
51:15
Bob Riley once said, "'Hard times
51:17
don't create heroes. "'It
51:19
is during the hard times "'when the hero
51:22
within us is revealed.'" What
51:24
I'm about to share with you is
51:27
the rest of the story on
51:29
what happened on 9-11. You may
51:31
not have heard. Ordinary people
51:33
becoming heroes. It's
51:35
moments in time like this that remind
51:37
me why I love this country so
51:39
much and why I love my
51:42
fellow countrymen. Until
51:44
next time, everyone. I
51:47
thought I was watching a movie, Towering
51:49
Inferno at first, and
51:51
then I looked real close, and I noticed
51:54
it was the World Trade Center. I
51:56
was compelled because I'm the type of person
51:58
that can't stand bars. and watch
52:01
other people suffer. And
52:04
to me, they were suffering. They wanted to get off
52:06
the island. And there was no way
52:08
for them to get off the island other than the
52:10
water. And I had noticed
52:12
when I was watching the television, I saw a
52:14
lot of, you know, the ferries coming up into
52:17
the slips and taking people off. I said, fine,
52:19
we could do the same thing. I
52:21
could take people on my boat, get
52:24
in there, take them where they have to go. And
52:27
that's what we did. The
52:33
The The
52:36
The The The
52:42
The The The
52:48
On the morning of September 11th, when
52:50
the towers came down, millions
52:53
of people ran for safety. Hundreds
52:56
of thousands of them ran south to the
52:58
water's edge. That's
53:01
when they realized that Manhattan is
53:03
indeed an island, and
53:06
that they were trapped. They
53:09
were feeling helpless, and that's
53:11
the worst feeling in the
53:13
world. What was a person on
53:15
the ground going to do? Buildings
53:17
were down, people laying
53:19
under the rubble of the building, firemen,
53:24
civilians. My wife was there,
53:27
and I turned around, I said, I've got to go do something.
53:30
Just like that. She looked at me, she says,
53:32
what are you going to do, you maniac? I
53:34
says, I'm going to take the amberjack up into the
53:37
city and help. She
53:39
says, but what if they're attacked again? I
53:42
says, well, then that's something I have to live with. I
53:45
says, I have to do what I have to do. I
53:48
says, and nobody can stop me right now. Even
53:51
if I save one person, or I rescue
53:53
one person, there's one person less
53:56
that will suffer and die. It
54:02
was just a madness
54:04
on one side and
54:07
wanting to help people
54:10
on the other side. They
54:23
were just streaming out of the buildings and the
54:25
first mode of transportation they saw was a ferry
54:27
boat. That's
54:29
when they knew, this is how I'm getting out of here. So
54:32
they didn't even care where the boat was going. There
54:36
wasn't panic in New York in
54:38
the beginning, just volume. There
54:41
wasn't until the first building
54:43
fell that there was panic. You
54:52
heard the building went down, but we're in the slip so we
54:54
can't see it. That's
54:56
when we started letting go and then all of a sudden, it
54:58
engulfed. You
55:01
couldn't see anything. People
55:04
were actually jumping into the river and
55:07
swimming out of Manhattan. Boats were
55:10
very nearly running them over. These
55:13
people wanted out of Manhattan no matter any
55:16
way they could. Somebody wants you to go
55:18
over there. Every
55:23
mode of transportation out of Manhattan was
55:25
shut down. All
55:28
the subways were shut. The tunnels were
55:30
all closed. They closed the bridges. They
55:32
closed everything immediately. Boats,
55:35
usually an afterthought in most New Yorkers'
55:37
minds, were for the first

55:48
over here without evacuating people. The process

that actually hadn't already started, there were some

I do it and I fail I tried If
1:02:29
I do it and I succeed Better
1:02:31
for me and I tell my children
1:02:34
the same thing Never go
1:02:36
through life saying you should have if
1:02:38
you want to do something You
1:02:41
do it You
