0:41

call. She went out with Brian. They had a great first

0:43

date according to her. But unfortunately, as is often the case,

0:45

she's not heard from Brian since. So we're going to see

0:47

if we can help her out this morning. First of all,

0:49

Amanda, tell us how you met Brian. We

0:51

met online. OK. So we're actually

0:54

both divorced. So it was just

0:56

kind of nice to date someone

0:58

who had that common experience, kind

1:00

of knew where I was coming from.

1:02

Sure, yeah. Yeah. So we

1:05

just met up after work for

1:07

a drink and something to eat

1:09

and then calling you because I

1:11

haven't heard anything else since then.

1:14

And the date you thought went fine, nothing went wrong on the

1:16

date? No, not that I know of.

1:18

And I've been kind of racking my brain, you

1:20

know, driving myself crazy trying to think, oh, what

1:22

could it have been? I don't know. And like,

1:24

I've just got nothing. I really don't know. Okay,

1:27

well let's have us give them a call and see if we

1:29

can figure it out and see if can get you a second

1:31

date, okay? That would be awesome. Are

1:34

3:08

So we've gotten ahold of Brian and he's agreed to come

3:10

on the air with us. So Brian, do you remember going out

3:12

with Amanda? Yeah,

3:15

yeah, I do. I remember Amanda. Well,

3:17

she gives a call saying you guys met up after

3:19

work one day, had a great date, but she hadn't

3:21

heard from you since and asked us to give you a call on

3:23

her behalf. Of

3:26

course. Of course she did. That's that's

3:28

definitely Amanda. Oh,

3:31

this doesn't sound good. Did something go wrong

3:33

on the date? Yeah. So here's

3:35

the thing. I don't know how much she told

3:37

you guys or what her situation is, but we're

3:40

both divorced, which is great. It's nice

3:42

to date somebody that's also been divorced

3:44

because you kind of get over it.

3:46

I don't know. There's this different aura

3:48

about somebody that's already been divorced. And

3:50

the thing is that I have two boys,

3:53

right? I have two kids. She does not

3:55

have. any kids. But here's

3:57

the thing, she was unbelievably judgmental

4:00

about how to raise my kids, especially

4:02

considering the fact that she doesn't even have any kids.

4:04

So we were on the date, we were talking, and

4:07

I was mentioning my kids and how, you know, the

4:09

cussy agreement that I have with my ex -wives is

4:11

that I get the kids on the weekends. You

4:14

know, I'm the fun dad with them on the weekends,

4:16

right? Like, I let them stay up a little bit

4:18

later. We watch movies together. We play video games together.

4:20

We hang out like that. That's how I hang out

4:22

with my kids on the weekends if we're not out

4:25

doing stuff. So at night, we play

4:27

video games. We watch movies. We

4:29

hang out. And she comes out

4:31

of nowhere and jumps on my

4:33

case about routine screen time and

4:35

like all these other things that

4:37

I'm doing, apparently screwing up my

4:39

kids. It's like just telling me that

4:41

I'm a bad dad, basically. Okay,

4:44

and so when the discussion during

4:46

the date went to parenting and

4:48

she offered you some opinions on

4:51

parenting, that was just a major

4:53

turnoff for you. Yeah, considering

4:55

the fact that she doesn't even have kids, number

4:57

one, and also you don't tell another parent how

4:59

to raise their kids. And sure, this is the

5:01

only time I get to see them. I don't

5:04

need this woman who doesn't even have kids telling

5:06

me that I'm a bad dad because she doesn't

5:08

agree with how I'm raising them. And

5:10

because of that, that's why you didn't call

5:12

her back, basically. Yeah, and I don't know

5:14

how she didn't recognize that like it wasn't

5:16

hard. Well, here's the deal She gave us

5:18

a call and said the date was great

5:20

and she didn't mention any of that She's

5:22

actually on the other line. Would it be

5:25

okay? We brought her in this conversation because

5:27

it seems like she connected with you sounds

5:29

like she had a good time Yeah, let's

5:31

just go ahead and rip this band

5:33

-aid off bring her on Wow, I

5:35

don't know if I want to know

5:37

I want to Amanda are you there?

5:40

Yeah Yeah, I seem to

5:43

recall things a little bit differently. I

5:45

mean, I don't think I ever used the

5:47

phrase, know, you're screwing up your kids. You

5:50

gave me a lift of things that I

5:52

was doing wrong. I mean, here's all the

5:54

other things you're doing wrong with raising your

5:56

kids. I offered you some suggestions. And like,

5:58

the things I'm saying are not crazy. Like,

6:01

I'm sure I'm not the only

6:03

person who would suggest that, you know, parents

6:05

should limit screen time. Like, that's just kind of,

6:07

I feel like a common sense thing. Like, yes,

6:10

I find it Worry some that you're like go

6:12

on the weekends. They just kind of do whatever

6:14

they want And you know, I don't really police

6:16

their TV time or anything like it's not

6:18

great Okay, I'm just trying to offer

6:21

you some suggestions. I'm not

6:23

I'm not telling you like, you know,

6:25

you're ruining your kids The reason

6:27

why you and I would never work out because first

6:29

of all I never said that I would let them

6:31

do whatever they want And I don't limit their screen

6:33

time and they just watch TV all day. I'm not

6:35

that kind of dad I don't sit there

6:37

and just let them watch whatever they want by themselves.

6:40

We watch movies together. We play video games together. We

6:42

sit there and do things like that. And you

6:44

know what? There's a lot of parents out there that

6:46

don't do that at all and just give their kids

6:48

an iPad. I'm not that kind of dad. And

6:50

I was literally explaining that to you. And you're acting

6:52

as if I just let my kids run around with

6:55

scissors in the neighborhood at night. I

6:57

mean, running around outside at night might be better than

6:59

sitting in front of a screen all night. I'm just

7:01

saying, there are guidelines. for how

7:03

many hours a The reason why you

7:05

and I would never work out. Okay. Do you think

7:07

it's better for my kids to run around at night

7:10

by themselves than to be at home and watching a

7:12

movie with me? That is the reason why I know.

7:14

First of all, you're not a mom. So obviously you

7:16

have no idea what you're talking about. And then number

7:18

two is sit there and have the mentality that it's

7:20

better for them to be running around at night alone.

7:23

Brian, I think she was just using that as

7:26

a euphemism. I don't think she should. Our

7:31

whole goal here was to see if you

7:33

two would like to go out a second

7:35

time and we would pick up the tab

7:38

for T number two. But Brian, you made

7:40

that pretty clear you're not interested. I

7:43

wish I never made this call in the first place. Good,

7:45

because I don't want to go on a

7:47

second date with you. I'm actually flabbergasted that you

7:49

even made this call to begin with, honestly. Like,

7:52

this is hilarious to me that you even

7:54

thought that there would be a chance at

7:56

a second date. Okay,

7:59

well, we all got that out. I

8:01

think we got it all out. I think we're

8:03

good now. We're good, right? We're both good? I

8:06

mean, I have the information I need. I'll

8:08

put it that way. Okay. Brian, thank you

8:10

so much for coming on the air. Do

8:13

appreciate it. Yeah, of course. Thank you guys.

8:15

Okay. Amanda, well, now you know why

8:17

you didn't get a second day with Brian, but

8:19

maybe, like you said, it's probably for the best.

8:21

Yeah. I mean, that was, that was a lot.

8:23

I don't really need to get yelled at, you

8:25

know, some comments I made. That was, that was

8:27

a lot. All right. Oof. Boy, that escalated quickly.

8:30

Maybe we shouldn't have put them together

8:32

on the phone. I thought it was

8:35

going to be more fun. I

8:38

just for the record, I said, I don't know if

8:40

I want to go to Brian on this one. Well,

8:42

I didn't think it was going to be fireworks. It

8:44

was fire. first of all, you should have stepped in

8:46

sooner. Oh, yeah. It's all my fault. All my fault.

8:48

I stepped in and then it started up again. Wow.

8:52

Wow. I mean, do they forget their, I feel

8:54

like they forget they're on the radio. I think

8:56

they did. And, you know, that's

8:58

what we do. Here's

9:01

the deal. I

9:04

feel comfortable giving anybody advice on how

9:06

to raise their kids. Never. Never. It's

9:09

the hardest job out there. It is.

9:11

It's very rewarding, but you're

9:13

always thinking, boy, am I

9:15

doing a good job? Yeah. I 100

9:17

% agree especially as a parent now

9:19

as a new parent you always question

9:21

am I doing the right thing and

9:23

hopefully this works out in the long

9:25

run for somebody else to always jump

9:27

in and that's the thing everybody's always

9:29

going to offer unsolicited advice you're already

9:31

dealing with that and on top of

9:33

that too being a parent though extremely

9:35

rewarding is also exhausting

9:38

it's exhausting it's a 24 -7 job being

9:40

a parent and so I don't like you

9:42

know I there's all there's so many factors

9:44

that go and you don't know you just

9:46

see a little teeny right little bit of

9:48

it he said one thing he said one

9:50

thing they're dynamic So eight

9:52
