I almost didn't listen to this one, honestly. I've seen so many takes on Sherlock and Watson that I couldn't help but feel a bit jaded when I came across this. Regardless, this podcast is charming, original, and wholly stands on its own. The characterizations it provides the titular characters feel fresh even if the details are familiar. The mysteries solved aren't rehashes of the ones you've heard, but adaptations of the many, many others you haven't. The actors are utterly convincing in their roles, and the mysteries are creative enough to keep you guessing, for the most part. Highly recommend.
So far, these have been fun, if short. I would like one juicy mystery to last for hours, and these seem to flash by, solved in hardly the amount of time it takes to describe them. Still, they are fun.
Not even an over exaggeration, this show is my favourite modernisation of Sherlock Holmes. Its a true to the character but kind representation of autism, while full of fun mysteries and character development
a wonderful take on the classic duo. it healed all the wounds the bbc version left me with. the characters are distinct and likeable, the dialogues are skillfully written, and the acting is perfectly natural and convincing.the characterisation is truly top-notch. as a man diagnosed with both autism and adhd, it's extremely refreshing to see (well, hear) a well-developed character sharing my conditions. sherlock isn't intentionally mean or a dick like in the bbc version, there is no "high-functioning sociopath" bullshit. he's simply a neurodivergent man navigating situations and relationships that are more confusing to him due to his conditions. it's also wonderful to witness the development of his relationships with neurotypical people, showing the audience their peaceful coexistence achieved with mutual understanding, respect and compromises. also, finally we have an adaptation where john watson is truly the most awkward person to ever grace the surface of the earth.I also find the way doyle's stories are adapted here to be very well done. there are plenty of stories that simply didn't age well and don't make sense from the perspective of someone living in the modern world. take the case of the creeping man for example - in the original dude's literally transforming into a monkey. sherlock and co significantly improves the story while still respecting the original and peppering in plenty of little nods towards it.on a similar note, I'm very glad to see more female competent characters here, because in the canon women mostly play the role of a victim, a damsel in distress, or some insignificant wife to be killed off later. mariana definitely takes the cake here, bless her. she's like atlas holding up the sky.finally, it's so invigorating to discover all the creators' little winks. queer victor trevor, an offhand mention of irene adler, professor moriarty listening intently... really, listening to sherlock and co is an absolute delight. it brightens up my every tuesday. cannot recommend this podcast enough, both to avid fans of the canon and to people who have never interacted with it.
I almost skipped this one, but British podcasts are usually good, so I gave it listen. This is a fresh and modern take on the Sherlock Holmes stories, pretty funny, and the acting is amazing. I almost thought the actors were Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman - they sound so similar. My only complaint is that the stories are fairly short once you get past the ads and recap. I get that they want you to subscribe, but still.
Love the way this has been adapted to a podcast.Great writing and performances from all.

Can´t wait until they finally kiss
Well well WELL, If it's not one of the best Sherlocks known to man. You see, I don't have much of a big data on adoptions of Conan Doyle works and among those few I shall say this one here have done the greatest job at showing the ultimate, true friendship between Sherlock and John. (It's a lie if I tell you I wasn't afraid of queer-bait. The PTSD, yk.) Beside that, we get to see a very realistic and pleasing Sherlock who's maybe the most accurate representation of autism I've ever seen + a John with the best sense of humor + a Mrs. Hudson who's not actually Mrs. Hudson! Would you look at that!Around the production side, where do I even begin? Form professional voice actors, rich-in-every-aspect story or unique and down-to-earth characters? And if I start, where do I even stop? At the perfect sound designs, gripping theme songs or the vastness of all the cases?I can't believe I've been sleeping on this very particular me-material for so long. The podcast is afoot!
Bloody Brilliant!!!
