7:07
Now is a time of need for Israel. It's been
7:09
a year since terrorists brutally attacked Israel, taking the lives
7:13
of over twelve hundred innocent people in their homes, burning
7:17
towns to the ground, and capturing hundreds as hostages. It's
7:21
been a year of resilience, unity and relentless determination. Mayor
7:26
Panem has rebuilt lives and restored hope for those who
7:29
need it most. As the high holidays approach, thousands of
7:33
Israelis are still struggling, anxious, scared, with loved ones on
7:37
the front lines. Two point six million Israelis live in poverty.

8:04
About you're listening to Talk Line with Zev Brenner, America's
8:08
premier Jewish broadcast on the year since nineteen.
8:11
Eighty one, and now here's your host.
8:16
Zev Brenner is always great to have Gabe Gaella with us.
8:19
He is the most knowledgeable about what what kinds of
8:21
coachh of wines. He's director of public Relations, Manager of
8:24
wine Education for Kedem Royal Wines and just had a
8:28
baby boy. So Mazotov, thank you. This what a way
8:31
to start the new year.
8:32
Absolutely the best way.
8:34
That's great. Did you have to take a drink after
8:36
you had a child or before.
8:40
Before?
8:40
Enough?
8:41
It's a wonderful thing. So it's a Mazotov. Mazotov. And
8:45
I can't believe that Russia shun is upon us. So
8:48
I know that you guys come up with new wines.
8:51
So first of all, what's new for the new year. Let's begin with that.
8:54
What's new for the new year? Okay, So I want
8:59
to really an emphasis this year on is reading wise
9:04
for I think what should be obvious reasons. What's going
9:09
on in Arcestrael is really h keeping a full worried
9:16
and following the news. And there's many businesses and the
9:22
Ecademy is hurting there. Uh. And wineries are absolutely not
9:28
excluded from this. Uh, they're hurting as well, and we
9:33
want to we want to support them as much as possible.
9:35
So we have actually, uh several Israeli wineries have joined
9:42
our great portfolio this year. One of them, for instance,
9:47
is called Camisa from from the Galley Day, really the
9:52
region that that is most under a spotlight right now.
9:56
And what wines do they produce?
9:58
So they have all sorts of wines. Uh, they're pretty,
10:02
they're full flavored, wines are really bold. Uh you know,
10:06
it's not the type of very subtle. Uh. So the
10:11
wines are very uh uh out there, I would say,
10:16
in your face. And they have one wine in particular
10:19
that I like a lot, which is called the blow
10:24
p p I uh and then uh and then dulwage
10:28
is white in French, and uh it's uh, it's it's
10:32
a it's a wine made from giver Stravener grapes. Uh.
10:36
That is sweets but not cloying the sweets. And it's
10:41
really well balanced, full flavored, really delicious wine.
10:46
Uh.
10:46
That's got some delicious sweetness. Uh, fantastic Russian, fantastic to
10:52
go of course it's apple and honey, but any desserts
10:55
as well, and uh and all the others A lot.
10:58
Of people of course. Uh, you know the ith Tommy
11:02
granted or dates SIGs, et cetera as part of the
11:06
of the synonym.
11:07
Uh.
11:07
So that's a that's a great Uh, that's a great
11:10
wine to go along with that.
11:11
Of course, Israel wines is something we should put on
11:14
our Russia shoun on the table, show always solidarity with
11:16
our brothers and sisters in Israel. If I have to
11:19
ask you, Gay, what's going to be on your Russia
11:22
shun and table? What wines are you going to serve in the three days that we're talking about.
11:27
It is three days that we're talking about this love. Uh,
11:30
it's many meals. Uh, it's going to be the emphasis again.
11:34
You know it's usha. Uh, there is ah. There's a
11:37
lot of dabbening, and you know, God knows how dabning
11:41
is important always of course, and on RuSHA in particular.
11:46
Uh So to stay focused, I will also stay focused
11:50
on quality over quentity. One of the wines that I'm
11:54
looking very much forward to enjoy, uh is the do
11:58
Mendic Castell twenty thirteen. You know why that been saving
12:04
for years, very special to eleven years old right now.
12:09
And you know, I highly encourage people to try the
12:14
wines from Dovendicastell and from their sister property Raziel. They
12:19
have some really great wines. They're amazing to enjoy right now.
12:24
And for people who like to age their wines, most
12:27
of their wines are aged worthy, which means that they
12:31
will get even better with a few years in the volve.
12:35
Terrific.
12:36
What else, because if through there, like you said, three days,
12:39
lots of meals and a lot of people want to
12:41
try something new for every meal. So what else is
12:43
going to be on your table?
12:45
So what else is worthy at your table for this roshana?
12:50
So you can branch out after you have some of
12:52
those these really wines. You can branch out to Italy,
12:55
for instance, and there is a great winery there called
12:58
continue Out Giuliano. It's a fully coactraal winery that is
13:02
owned and operated by a young couple. Ilian la Agozzi
13:06
or respectively French and Italian. Lara is originally from Tuscany
13:12
and they make they make some great wines. One of
13:15
them is also sweet wine that's light and a crab pleaser,
13:21
something to enjoy it before, during, or after the meal.
13:24
It's called the sweet V. So it's the V refers
13:28
to the great variety, which is a Fermentino, an Italian
13:31
wide variety.
13:33
Uh.
13:33
It's slightly a ferviceent, you know, a little bit like moscado.
13:36
Uh.
13:37
It's light, it's fun, easy to drink, it's low in
13:41
alcohol and really really something that that makes that makes
13:46
the meal fun and and also a conversation piece because
13:51
it's it's different. And some beautiful ball as well.
13:54
Well.
13:54
These are all great choices. Before I let you go, you mentioned in a previous broadcast gave you sometimes you
14:00
work with wineries aren't kosher wineries, but you get going
14:03
to do a kosher run. Is there anything else out
14:06
there that we should know about the coming up where
14:08
you have a great winery that doesn't really specialize in kosher,
14:11
but it's going to be doing a run with you.
14:13
That is absolutely correct. So there's many new wines coming
14:17
from from such wineries right now, they're not yet available
14:22
for Shashana. So I will think about a winery that
14:26
has released their first kosher wine just a few months ago,
14:31
called Chettle do Zac. So it's it's a prestigious winery
14:36
from the Marco Appalachian in Bordeaux, France, one of the
14:41
most prestigious wineries there, and they released two coasher wines,
14:46
really fantastic, Chattle do Zac and all the do Zac.
14:49
This is their their second line and they're both highly recommended,
14:54
delicious wines and like the wines from Castels I have
14:58
mentioned before, they're well well wormed aging as well.
15:03
All great choices to start the new year. To have
15:05
a sweet new year, especially with wine from Israel. As
15:09
you heard, gave gave some excellent recommendations, gave Gaella, Director
15:12
public Relations Manager of Wine Education Kedem Royal Wines, thank
15:17
you for being with us, with you and your new
15:19
expanded family, a new baby boy, Mazotov again. You should
15:23

Tell us what it was like, Oh mob Friday night
22:20
that sometimes chiev that it comes through the window, unbelievable
22:25
and which you know, Uh, oh dobbning Friday night. You
22:28
know during the week also people were staying there, maybe
22:31
twenty thirty people. But Friday, uh, Friday night and Saturday
22:35
night was like most kids came a sleeping back, so
22:39
it without sleeping back. Some it was just Friday night.
22:42
The downing was sometimes speatween five and ten hours. The downing,
22:46
the dancing, Yeah, which was funny, Charlie Shooter has never
22:49
ended before four in the morning.
22:51
Well yeah, awesome, awesome, you know what it is. See
22:58
the world is saw oh shallow. You know, I don't
23:01
wanna say anything back.
23:03
Let's say the establishment, right, they look at those kids
23:06
and they're looking for drugs, They're looking for the deepest
23:08
step of the fliers. They look absolutely disgusted when they
23:12
looked at their parents and looked at the whole until
23:14
they live. You know, they wanted something more, so much steeper,
23:18
so much more beautiful. I mean the way they listened
23:21
to to tylers to proceeds, to depths, make awesome or
23:26
some or so.
23:28
And we didn't do enough.
23:29
You know, I didn't wanna say again. You know, the
23:32
the Chugar movement began, you know when it began. Wait,
23:36
the moment they came back to Schlne, to the Holy Wall,
23:39
the Holy War was the most magnetic place in the world. Right,
23:44
But you know the soul called the money making Tugar
23:46
movement only began seventy eight, seventy nine eighty right, A
23:51
little later, how do you attribute to now why?
23:53
But it is because the sad thing is when I
23:57
was still in the hospital of and praying, you.
23:58
Know, when I would send, when I would talk to
24:00
those big people who died them so to speak, they
24:04
need new yr shields who bore the truers who would have them.
24:06
My faith be lost, those ten years be loost completely.
24:11
He could have had thousands, thousand, thousands of the kinds
24:13
you know. But anyway, the few books said who made it?
24:17
And maybe I had little bit of a hand in
24:20
some of them, you.
24:21
Know, some of you were a stop making the father
24:23
of Jewish music. Also, as you mentioned, the true of
24:25
moving people who've returned to the Jewish roots. How do
24:28
you tribute to the success of you, one individual igniting
24:31
a spark among thousands of people when they're paid professionals
24:34
today that cant seem to ignite the same kind of
24:37
spirit that you did one man operation.
24:40
I tell you two reasons.
24:41
First of all, I all tell you was like this,
24:44
if you stand next with which day you get called? If these are next to another and you get one right.
24:50
The second thing is, you know what really hurts me.
24:52
Sometimes I took to those professional out to each kid
24:56
of professionals. I'm sure it's beautiful, not knocking it, but
25:01
you know what's hurting me. If you were to ask me,
25:04
do you really know how to make some.
25:05
Of the vectators cat I tell you what to know
25:08
the defense idea. I don't know. The only things when
25:13
it happens, I hope and I pray and I cry
25:17
that God will give me the right words. I don't know.
25:21
But you're only thing.
25:22
If you know before, this is good. If you're a cook,
25:26
you want to make soup, you know before it makes a soup. When it comes to dealing with life as
25:31
people don't tell me you know before, and if you
25:33
know before, so it doesn't go. You know, someone listen
25:36
to those so called they're sweet, but turns me off completely.
25:42
And the fact is they don't reach the deepest depths
25:44
because they already preconceived noise. When I meet someone doesn't
25:48
keep shovelers, I give them the spoke and tell them
25:50
to do this, do this, don't do this.
25:52
It's all nonsense. It doesn't reach inside.
25:55
You know what it is the fact is that the
25:58
people they talk to they read Yeah, maybe maybe ten
26:01
percent of giving them the benefit of the doubt, and
26:05
you know what it is like. I have had the purse of meeting so many people the deepest depths, and
26:11
the problem always was I had no way to send
26:14
them because after the return up to the deepest, deepest depths,
26:18
they would always.
26:18
Be disappointed after that.
26:21
You know, I remember one time, but the Holy world,
26:23
I met one boy who had turned on in Australia.
26:27
Was crying. He says, you know what you taught me.
26:31
It was all alive.
26:33
You told me that people who keep shoppers, that people
26:35
see them, that I saw holiness so beautiful.
26:39
I'm known as well. It's not true. Some of them are,
26:43
but it's not always true, he says.
26:46
I thought when I come here and kind of make the paradise on what ch I mean? I mean, it's
26:51
haunting me what you said to me.
26:54
And you see what it is. It's not only that
26:58
the non.
26:59
Religious people have to do trua. The real sua have
27:02
to be done by the religious people.
27:04
You have to change. You have so much more fire,
27:07
so much more love.
27:09
Okay, it's getting better a little bit, but if I
27:12
look back, it's start to leave.
27:15
You know.
27:15
When I think to myself, how much energy the rabbits
27:18
put into lad Kosher meat call of his card, if
27:22
they would have put in ten percent of this to
27:25
reach the really reaching, really, really reaching the deepest depth,
27:29
you know, taking is Well. You know, when someone says
27:32
to me, there are a lot of non religious people
27:34
in is Well, it's alive. They're not non religious. Nobody
27:38
has reached them yet, and they're open in the deepest way.
27:41
I've not met it in Israeli who is not open
27:44
for the deepest thing in the world.
27:46
So when we come back, I want to get back. And also how the establishment has worked with you and
27:50
not work with you. Over the years, You've brought back
27:53
single handedly many people to their Jewish roots, people searching,
27:57
especially the sixties was a turbulent time. In the seventies
28:00
and eighties and nineties is not much better, even though with.
28:03
Manifested coming up coming up.
28:07
Rabbi Shlomo Kabap known throughout the world for his music,
28:10
for his insights, his thoughts over thirty years and entertaining
28:14
people throughout the world at concerts and weddings, travels all
28:18
over to bring back people, to bring them the message
28:20
of music and music conveys quite a bit, you know,
28:24
in the sixties, we're talking about Shlom, a period of
28:26
time where it was a revolution going on in the
28:29
hearts and minds of many in this country, and the
28:32
house of love and prayer that you began was thriving.
28:35
You know, you also composed songs on the spot. One
28:38
of the songs I believe is from the period is
28:40
an English song called Lord get Me Hi. Perhaps you
28:42
can tell us about that.
28:43
This is very special song.
28:45
In nineteen sixty eight, you know, all those revolutions going
28:50
on on the college campuses, and there was one boy,
28:54
his name was George Cohn.
28:57
Yeah, I think it was George. I know George the I think it was going He was.
29:01
One of the head who were leading the revolutionist some
29:05
Francisco state and one day he was arrested for singing
29:09
an obscene song. Then he came to the police. He
29:12
was singing a say an my name and it was hardback.
29:17
You know that the thath what was his name, the
29:21
director of the college is but a Hacre or something.
29:25
It's how come you don't even hear what is hebraw?
29:28
You know? Yeah? Yeah, the head of a college.
29:30
They thought the song was obscene, but it was a Hebrew song.
29:35
You know. Anyway, then he got married and since he
29:38
was already so famous in all the newspapers, it was
29:41
this crazy story. So Life magazine came to film. The
29:46
wedding was unbelievable, and you know it was a different energy.
29:51
The wedding began four in the afternoon and you know,
29:57
go and get Park.
29:58
He have to leave at twelfth the latest, and we
30:00
were still in sheer bochas you know what we did.
30:03
There was a truck.
30:04
You put a cross in color and some are holding
30:06
the hoop over them on the truck were from.
30:08
The wedding well to the truck, and we were not going to bed.
30:11
It was the golden gate, Park.
30:12
I went back to the hospital of in prayer and anyway,
30:16
this boy George was real being a master words and
30:20
and maybe it with that doesn't a good at that wedding, which I don't you remember, but this is one of them.
30:24
Slow more Cowbach know throughout the world as beautiful over
30:28

30:31

34:51
We now continue with our special broadcasts from the archives
34:54
with the refers Schlo Maccabock of Blessed Memory, a great
34:57
folk singer vis eurol. Somebody's put back so many many
35:00
people to Judaism and this is part of our last
35:03
interview on television with Robsholmacabbock where he goes through different
35:07
periods of his life.
35:08
Welcome back our guests.
35:09
Rabbi Shlomo Kobback's music has inspired jew and non jew
35:13
alike throughout the world, brought back so many people to
35:16
their Jewish roots, their Jewish soul. Shlomo, how is it
35:20
that you've brought back so many people? But yet the
35:22
Jewish establishment, religious, non religious Jewish establishment has not supported you.
35:27
You know something, this is one of the said things
35:30
in my life. You know, you know, after how many
35:32
people I asked like I shouldn't give up on people.
35:37
You know you'ren't permitted.
35:38
But yet you know, the.
35:40
Finding Federvation decided to give us for half a year,
35:44
they went housord and prayer and after a half a
35:47
year they canceled. Why they canceled. It's too ridiculous even
35:52
to mention. You know how many people came to us
35:55
on shops, one hundreds hundred times. The brain of the
35:57
Federation passed by Sunday morning and you saw a lot
36:01
of garbage outside the house because there were hundreds of
36:04
kids shovers.
36:06
So then I was called in the Federation. W there's
36:08
so much garbage.
36:08
But on Sunday morning, I see you know why because
36:13
I invited hundreds of kids for shovers, but you is
36:16
no garbage on Sunday morning because he don't know right
36:18
anywhere anybody for shoppers. And you don't even keep shoppers.
36:21
You're the master of a Jewish money. You didn't give it then about Jewish kids roaming the streets.
36:26
You know what was the most important thing is the dead.
36:28
That every religion had.
36:30
Little house eleven prayer. They took care of their kids.
36:34
At the unbelievable story. I'm coming to a university, and
36:38
again I don't want to say anything too bad. You know how many kids are hiller are attract right, because
36:43
see HeLa is not catering to the young people. They're
36:46
catering to the parents who give you a few rubbles.
36:49
They take a rabbi who looks like the mother or
36:51
the father would like right, So nobody comes. I'm coming
36:55
to a hill over night and they were thirty forty.
36:57
I get a call from the Episcopal your minister, he said,
37:01
once you know I'm your friend, out of your records,
37:04
and I know who you are. I know your heart
37:06
is aching for your Jewish brothers and sisters because you
37:09
know where they are.
37:10
They're in my church.
37:11
Can you stay up at night and come to my night,
37:14
to my church and make sure they all are there. There were two thousand kids there and at least fifteen
37:19
hundred Jewish.
37:20
And you were so heart breaking. The church they support
37:24
people like this are doing something. Anyway. The greatest miracle
37:28
is that you held out.
37:29
We held out for ten years, but then you know
37:32
everything was happening is well, and then some Francisco was
37:35
also not the the mecca of the Jusalem of the world.
37:38
So folks will never have a mashob.
37:41
Yeah, one quick question before it breaks shloma. How is
37:43
it that you never copyrighted your music? You would have
37:46
been a very english man.
37:47
It's copied. Wise, I should take everyone to court.
37:50
People have just taken your music.
37:51
It's not only not only they're taking it that we
37:54
mentioned my name, you know.
37:55
It's it's are you better at them at the establishments?
37:58
Tell you what I'm If I say I'm not bitter,
38:02
I'll be lying. But you see, I don't want to waste my time being bitter.
38:06
But it's a little bit hot baking. You know, I tea something. You know how many gatherings, how many people
38:11
talk about the sugar woman? You know, in my whole life,
38:14
it was never invited to one, even though you sure,
38:17
let's just let's assume fifty.
38:18
Percent my fault, but also not right, you know, you know,
38:23
if you if I's imagine everybody wants secure can says
38:27
someone says I have a cure?
38:28
And what can you do? That's what it is.
38:30
So when we come back, I want you to think some medley.
38:33
We'll talk about Poland, India, some of the exotic places
38:36
you've been to.
38:36

You're listening to talk Line with Zev Brenner, America's premier
39:41
Jewish broadcast on the year since nineteen eighty one, and
39:45
now here's your host.
39:48
We now continue with our special broadcasts from the archives
39:52
with the Rev. Schlo Maccabock. Have blessed memory a great
39:55
folk singer, viserul Somebody's put back so many people to Judaism.
39:59
And this is part of our last interview on television
40:02
with Robshel Maccabock where he goes through different periods of
40:05
his life.
40:06
Robert Schil Maccabach traveled throughout the world singer, folks singer, rabbi,
40:10
spiritual leader, Rabbi Kalbach.
40:13
Going back to some of your trip people, I went
40:15
up with you to the Unification Church and said, beautiful.
40:18
It was really something how you inspired people who have
40:21
been brainwashed to another religion. But perhaps you can tell
40:25
us about that some of your exotic trips. You've gone
40:27
to Poland, to the Soviet Union.
40:29
I think very fast about India. There was nineteen I'm
40:33
not sure eighty three or eighty four. It was a
40:36
big conference in Bombay East and West religion and science
40:41
and was organized by the fellowers of Baba Muktonande, which Jewish,
40:46
and the woman who organized it was I mean, she
40:50
is real jew hated. She says that Jewish people have
40:54
nothing to add, so she didn't want to invite some Jews.
40:59
Everybody was there anyway to make it long. Finally, David Zella,
41:03
if you remember, David Zella was invited. Simon Schachter and
41:06
Humble Me and be the only religious leaders.
41:09
Had to pay our own way, and we had to pay.
41:12
Even admission there. And I mean their informants was not
41:15
from this world. Simon Schechter was a Gibalt, and David
41:19
Zella and then Humble Me. And when I got on stage,
41:23
I said, friends, you know, I saw privileged to be
41:27
in Indian. There's so much holiness, here's so much religion
41:29
and so much godliness. But right now I'm standing before
41:33
you as a Jew, and I want you to know I'm a Jew. I'm a disgusting Jew from all four sides.
41:38
I'm a real Jew standing before you, and I want
41:41
to share with you what Yiddish cad is all about. And the next day, this bit of woman you know,
41:45
who never spoke to me even while I was ready in India, she said hello, She came up to me
41:50
and she hugged me.
41:51
She was crying. They said, what happened? She wants you
41:55
to know?
41:57
Yesterday and you said about yourself. I'm a disgusting from
42:00
all four sides. Couldn't help looking at myself. I said
42:05
with w Who am I fooling? Who am I fooling?
42:09
I'm not the Hindu, I'm not the Buddhist.
42:11
I'm a yeak.
42:12
What was Pauland do you know that she went to Israel,
42:15
went to Nemeo schlim and and she's just she's now
42:18
a whole woman and unbelievable.
42:21
Pauland I want you to know this was awesome, awesome.
42:23
LSOs was organized by Knachmann, Elbaum and housecular Bestsels.
42:28
Really, I hope that have enough got to send me
42:30
back by the loudest foundation. You know what it is.
42:35
Everybody says Poland is full of anti Semitism, So my
42:38
motherums are so good, so do something about it.
42:41
So everybody goes through the graves.
42:43
The outswitz comes back and says, it's terrible, nothing happens,
42:46
won't you know? As a privilege arriving in Poland and
42:49
the whole nation greeted us thousands, thousands, thousands of people, and.
42:54
Wherever I went, I just told her. One thing of Nachman says.
42:57
If you believe that you can destroy, why did you
43:00
also believe you can rebuild. It says the destruction of
43:04
the world began here in the most awesome way. It
43:07
has to begin here. We have to open the gates
43:09
of love and peace. Now, once you know at all
43:12
those concerts with thousands of people obviously non Jews, a
43:15
few Jews, but mostly Unjews there like at them, Sha
43:18
had come.
43:20
That's one part of the thing. The same.
43:21
But is that you know there are thousands, thousands of
43:25
young people in Poland's parents they're given away as babies
43:28
to nan Jews and they never come out of the hole.
43:31
Then we were there, hundreds came out. They said, my mother was Jewish, my father was Jewish, my brother was Jewish.
43:37
And I wish, I wish I could go back and
43:40
collect them. We had hundreds of names and and then
43:44
Russia was unbelievable.
43:46
Eighty nine Stuart wax And and Yuram uh To Unbeliever
43:51
with young people organize an unbelievable unlivent with Russia twenty
43:55
one concerts Wow.
43:57
And uh He.
43:59
We played approximately fifty five thousand people.
44:03
Some will have about a couple of moments again, a
44:05
couple of your favorite songes, including Schwartzerwolf, one of my favorites.
44:08
Shots Wolf will take too long. Shots of Wolf is
44:12
extra your story of someone who gave up on having children,
44:15
and then the coursion might get told them the Lamadolf sadly,
44:18
the Schwartzerwolf, he invites you for shoppers, he can bless you,
44:22
but the whole shoppers passed.
44:24
He didn't invite him. Well, then he looks out, it's
44:28
three stars shoppers of Sommer.
44:31
Then suddenly realized the Schwartzuov is the only one who
44:34
came blessed me this ship.
44:35
Isn't there one God.
44:39
Like never before, like never before, begin praying, is the
44:42
master of the world, please give me children. At that moment,
44:49
the Schwartzerwolf came in and invited him for shovers, and
44:52
I went, you know, driveling all over the world, and there's so many people tell me because of that story,
44:56
if it didn't give up the books and we have children.
44:59
I was here years ago and the couple came up
45:02
to me, if you know twenty years you have no children.
45:06
We got your tape and began pring again. How we
45:09
have two children?
45:10

day by the Holy Word, mamage, fasting and crying, thinking,
47:37
please put it in our hearts. We should make peace
47:39
between each other, because what do we want. We don't

us a sign what the truth is. And today you
