We all know the arrival of the iPhone changed everything, but according to a new study, it also made us a lot clumsier. Since 2007, head and face injuries have jumped up considerably. With old school cellphones, we were pretty much just making calls and texts, but with modern smartphones, people are no longer aware of what’s going on around them. Thus, we’re running into poles, tripping off street curbs, or dropping slabs of glass and metal on our face at 2AM. Isn’t technology great?

Speaking of iPhones, a few days ago, Apple was questioned by a security researcher about why his new iPhone 11 Pro was accessing his location data even though everything was set to not allow such behavior. The guy thought it was a bug, but Apple replied and said that was normal behavior... that the phone was using location information for system services that don’t have an on/off switch. Today, Apple has clarified their answer, saying iPhones that have the new U1 ultra wide band chip are accessing location data to “make sure they’re not in restricted areas.”Apparently there are some areas where Ultra Wideband technology is not allowed because of certain regulations.Apple notes that the location check-in’s are done on device and no location data is stored on their servers.They also said they’ll be releasing a software update to include a dedicated switch that will turn off the wideband technology.

Everyone wants to do their part to help take better care of the planet, even Ford and McDonald’s. The two companies have teamed up for an interesting collab. Ford will be taking MceeDee’s leftover food waste and reengineering into plastics to be used as car parts. Right now they’re focused on the throwaway part of coffee beans and turning it into a durable material for things like headlamp mounts and components under the hood. This is pretty cool, but... have you ever left a fast food bag in your car for too long? Gives a new meaning to the phrase “new car smell” huh?
