Hey , brian Wright show nation . Welcome

0:02

inside the broadcast booth . Brian Wright here , welcome into

0:04

another edition of the Brian Wright show . I want to say

0:06

thank you . So many of you sent me text

0:08

messages and Said

0:11

, wow , thank you so much . I went

0:13

and did the exercise after listening to part one

0:15

of this series and , wow , what a relief it's

0:17

gotten off my chest . You know , I spoke with my spouse

0:20

about something that's been bothering me for a long time

0:22

. I went employees , got about 15

0:24

messages from you out there that said

0:26

, I finally went to my

0:28

boss , my leadership team , and said look , I

0:30

offer more value , I want to raise , I

0:33

want a new bonus system , I want a promotion

0:35

, whatever it is , and props to you for doing

0:37

that . Business owners , entrepreneurs out there , obviously

0:39

the majority of our listening base . I

0:41

mean , you went and had the tough conversation

0:44

with your employee . You went and

0:46

had the tough . You finally made the decision on

0:48

whether or not you want to hire company a

0:50

rather than be . Make fast

0:52

decisions everybody . Procrastination

0:54

is such a killer when it

0:56

comes to self-discipline . So so many of you

0:58

out there , thank you so much for the messages because

1:01

you did this fast . You know you only had a couple

1:03

days before I launched this one , this

1:05

podcast that I'm talking about right now , versus

1:08

part one . All right , so you went out and did

1:10

it fast and that's the exercise everybody

1:12

, overcome procrastination and indecision

1:14

by just Doing . Make

1:16

the fastest decisions you possibly

1:18

can , take the quickest action you

1:20

possibly can , and when you do that

1:22

, it is going to alleviate so much

1:24

of the anxiety , the fear that

1:26

that's building up over time by not

1:29

having the conversation , by not making

1:31

the decision , and because our

1:33

lives , our careers , our businesses fall in between

1:35

those biggest desires and goals

1:37

we want versus the fears and weaknesses

1:39

that stand in the way of getting there , a lot

1:42

of you Attack those weaknesses , you attack those

1:44

fears in between the last episode

1:46

and today , and props to you that that

1:48

did that exercise . If this , for Whatever reason , is your

1:50

first episode , welcome into our self-discipline

1:52

series . We're doing about a ten-part series

1:54

on self-discipline and

1:56

the things that keep us from being

1:59

disciplined , the things that get us Unfocused

2:01

. Two podcasts ago we talked

2:03

about motivation versus self-discipline

2:05

in the four stages of psychological

2:07

focus . That is a key podcast

2:09

to go watch on our YouTube station or listen

2:12

on all the major networks , really

2:14

, before you're gonna get the most out of this ten-part

2:16

series . So props to a lot of you

2:18

for diving in , overcoming your fears

2:20

and Overcoming that procrastination

2:23

that's been standing the way of that discipline

2:25

that is so important . Today part two of the series

2:27

we're gonna be talking about overcoming lack

2:29

of vision . This is one that is a

2:31

, unfortunately , a big killer For

2:34

a lot of people out there , a lot of business owners

2:36

out there . You don't even have a vision for

2:38

what you want your business to become , and

2:40

that is very , very important

2:43

, because your employees are running around

2:45

blind if your vision is not

2:47

articulated to them . That is a major culture

2:49

problem through lack of leadership

2:51

that we're gonna talk about today . Employees

2:53

, your career is out there . You have to have a vision

2:56

of what you want your career to

2:58

become , and everybody out

3:00

there we all have to have a vision

3:02

of what we want our lives to

3:04

become , and once we have those defined

3:06

, it is far easier to

3:08

wrap self-discipline around . The things that

3:11

are the controllables , that are going to help us

3:13

get there , and that's we're gonna be talking about

3:15

in part two today is Overcoming

3:17

lack of vision . We're gonna have a great one . Before

3:20

we get started , let's fire up the music .

4:05

4:07

4:09

get rolling . The day gonna be talking about creating

4:11

a personal vision statement , and

4:13

so many of us whether that be in

4:15

our , our lives , our careers , our businesses

4:18

we don't have one , and A

4:20

lot of you out there , I think , can also make this

4:22

Overcomplicated , so I'm gonna break it

4:24

down for you today , and also we're gonna talk about

4:26

what really and lies the problem

4:28

if you don't have one now . I said

4:30

at the top , I do believe that that

4:33

Procrastination . I'm not doing this 10 part

4:35

series in any specific order Whatsoever

4:38

. It just happened to be that the first

4:40

two I've done happened to be in order

4:42

of how I am view them on the most Important

4:44

list . I think most people would say

4:46

that that the vision statement that

4:49

I'm gonna be talking about today is the most important

4:51

, but I'm gonna first come to you and tell you why

4:53

I believe it's second I procrastination

4:56

and you heard about it when I did the motivation

4:58

versus discipline four stages of psychological

5:00

focus . One of those , one

5:03

of those quadrants in the bottom left , was indecision

5:05

, and the indecision is enemy of

5:07

progress . That inevitably creates

5:09

us being completely detached

5:12

from the real problems in our lives , careers

5:14

and businesses and

5:16

the people that are indecisive . They

5:18

they create and you create major

5:20

problems for yourself in those three areas

5:23

the life , career , business stuff that we talk on here

5:25

. And , like I said in last

5:27

podcast , there has never been a fast , successful

5:29

, growing company with slow decision makers

5:31

amongst the leadership team Doesn't exist

5:34

. So the quicker you are making

5:36

decisions and the more willing you are

5:38

to just be okay with screwing things

5:40

up , learning from those screw-ups

5:42

, building upon them and eventually coming

5:44

as close to perfection as you can , you

5:46

will always be ahead of the person that tries

5:48

to perfect something . Before they launch it , before

5:50

they make the decision , they over complicate

5:53

it , they over seek information , the

5:55

deep dive effect which I believe I mentioned in

5:58

the past podcast . And the deep dive

6:00

effect is when , basically , it's information overload

6:02

that creates no action . And

6:06

if you're a person , as an example , and

6:08

let's say that you're wanting to to

6:10

lose weight . Let's say you're five foot six , two hundred and

6:12

twenty five pounds and you want to get in better health because

6:14

you know , for various reasons

6:16

, it's going to allow you to do things more that you want to do in life

6:19

. It's going to be you're going to be better at

6:21

work , advance your career because of it , live

6:23

longer , whatever it may be . And

6:26

if you wait around to

6:28

define your goals , to

6:30

to meet a vision that you have

6:32

for yourself and in your life and

6:35

in your career business owners and your business this

6:38

is where the procrastination kicks in

6:40

and anxiety happens and

6:42

fear happens . Your weaknesses come

6:45

out in full-fledged and and

6:47

and many times you end up not doing anything

6:49

whatsoever for months , if

6:51

not years . This

6:53

is why you know which diet plan . Do I go

6:55

vegan ? Do I eat all meat ? How many

6:57

calories do I need to burn ? What do I do this ? How do

6:59

I lift this ? Blah blah , and it's the deep dive effect

7:02

information overload and it creates no action . What

7:05

I would prefer all of you do and what our

7:07

customers do and if you followed me for years

7:09

, you know our audience members is that

7:11

you are the quickest to

7:14

go . You are the quickest

7:16

to take action . So

7:18

, while you're creating this vision

7:21

, while you're defining your goals

7:23

from a health standpoint , you

7:26

could , tomorrow morning , give me 30 push-ups

7:28

. You could give me another 10 at lunch , another

7:30

10 at dinner and you're off and rolling . Now

7:33

do you need the vision , do you

7:35

need to define goals ? Do you need to

7:37

define a roadmap to get there ? Of

7:39

course you do , but that can wait

7:41

. I'm not telling you . It can wait

7:43

two years because eventually you're

7:46

going to putter out , you're gonna

7:48

burn out If you can't track

7:50

and you can't say you know , I've

7:52

lost this amount of weight and this amount of time

7:54

because I've been doing these things . Eventually

7:57

you've got to have this roadmap and this vision

7:59

and these goals . Of course you do Very

8:01

important . But

8:04

while you're putting that together because many

8:06

of you out there you don't even know how to put it together , which

8:08

is one of the things we're going to talk about today and

8:11

how to not over complicate it . And

8:13

you don't need a vision everybody for

8:16

your life and in your career , business

8:18

owners and your business you need one

8:20

and it's really this personal

8:22

vision statement that we're going to be diving into

8:24

today , and really all a

8:27

personal vision statement has

8:29

to include everybody

8:31

is what you want to do , why

8:33

you want to do it and then

8:35

how you will do it , how you

8:37

will accomplish it . Write that down what you want to do

8:39

, why you want to do it and how

8:42

you're going to do it . We

8:44

need to include all of that into

8:47

our personal vision statement . Now

8:50

, if you constantly are going back to that personal

8:52

vision statement , things

8:54

get so much easier . You

8:57

have a roadmap . It's going to help you both short

8:59

term , but especially long term . It's

9:02

going to help you when times get tough . It is

9:04

so easy to throw things in

9:06

the trash and change directions when

9:09

times get tough . That is one of the biggest

9:11

. The lack of stick

9:13

to it-ness , if you will , is

9:16

one of the biggest reasons we

9:18

fail at whatever we are trying to accomplish

9:21

in life , career and business . Because

9:23

the second times get tough . If

9:25

you have no vision , if you have

9:27

no roadmap , if you don't

9:30

have short term goals that you're checking off the

9:32

list to show progress , you

9:35

eventually are going to give

9:37

up , you are going to quit , and that is why

9:39

the vision you have to have it , but

9:43

I would rather you start as fast as you can

9:46

. Overcome those fears , have

9:48

those difficult conversations , the

9:51

exercise I put you through last podcast

9:53

and just start doing

9:55

, start taking action , thank

9:58

you , and then make sure

10:00

you have a vision in place , because , again

10:03

, this is something I haven't said yet is

10:06

because if you start taking action right

10:08

away and this is where many

10:11

people argue you haven't had the vision first . But

10:13

if you start taking action right away , you

10:16

may not know what to take action on if you

10:18

don't have a vision . And there's

10:20

the argument that vision's more important . And

10:23

, again , going back , the reason why

10:25

I think it's secondary is

10:28

because you can always get started . You

10:31

can always make a decision . You can have the tough

10:33

conversation with your spouse . You can have

10:35

the tough conversation with Janice , your employee

10:37

, employees . You can have the tough conversation

10:39

with your leadership team , your

10:41

boss , whatever . You

10:44

can do 30 push-ups if you want to be more healthy

10:46

. You can always do that right away and

10:49

get something going . Overcoming

10:57

lack of vision is a really

10:59

difficult thing . I'm

11:04

a big believer that all

11:06

of you out there can achieve

11:08

prosperity , and

11:10

the beauty of that is everybody defines

11:13

that a little bit different way . My definition

11:15

for it is I believe every one of

11:17

you out there can

11:19

achieve personal

11:22

and financial freedom . Now

11:24

, personal freedom is the time

11:26

to do things . Financial

11:30

freedom is making sure you have enough money

11:32

to be able to do the things you love

11:34

in your free time . It's

11:36

kind of a bad place to be if , whatever

11:39

your hobby is maybe flying

11:41

planes and I've been there , I

11:43

have my license . I fly planes , I

11:46

love it , it's a passion of mine . I like doing that in my spare

11:48

time . I also like doing it to get me places

11:50

. But

11:53

there were many years I couldn't do

11:55

that passion . Why

11:57

? Because it's expensive

11:59

. So I had

12:01

the time to do it . I just didn't have

12:04

the financial resources to make it happen

12:06

. So

12:09

that's a bad feeling and I'm sure many of you out

12:11

there can relate at some point in your life . It

12:14

may be today , it may be in the past . Here

12:16

are three things I love to do . The

12:18

problem is I can't afford to do them . That

12:21

sucks . That's a

12:23

real , real problem . And

12:26

when we look at success , the

12:30

only person that gets to define success

12:32

is you and

12:35

everybody out there . You get to pick whatever you

12:37

want is success and go out and do it

12:39

. The only

12:41

wrong is when you get in the way of somebody

12:43

else's success . This is what drives me nuts about

12:46

politicians and

12:49

some political people out there is

12:51

that they want to jam their

12:53

ideologies down your throat

12:55

, and

12:58

it's ridiculous , because those ideologies

13:00

stand in the way of you achieving

13:02

the wealth you need to achieve to enjoy the

13:05

personal freedoms and time you have

13:07

. If that's how you define success

13:09

, that is how I define success

13:12

, by the way , and this is why having a personal

13:14

vision statement is important , because if

13:16

you don't have it , not only do you

13:18

not know where you're going , you

13:22

don't even have a roadmap to get

13:24

there . You're winging everything , just

13:26

hoping things work , throwing things off the wall

13:28

. This is why so many of you give up when

13:31

times get tough , because

13:34

if you don't have a vision and you don't know where you're going

13:36

, if you pick a new marketing company

13:38

and they don't help you in three months , you say

13:40

screw it , they suck . Meanwhile

13:42

, there isn't a good marketing company that

13:45

can make a true , lasting , long-term impact

13:47

in three months . Can you

13:49

make progress ? Of course you can . You

13:54

know if you're going to train so much of what

13:56

we talk about on here , if you're going to train

13:58

your employees on hospitality

14:00

, verbiage , presentation , how

14:04

to get what you want as a business from your

14:06

perspective and your existing customers , while

14:08

giving them more than they expected . If you're

14:10

going to commit to that customer service

14:13

definition and you're going

14:15

to train people , you've got to have the vision

14:17

of what two , three , four

14:19

years from now looks like . And that is why so

14:22

many of you the instant gratification , that is why

14:24

so many of you say

14:26

screw it and give up because you

14:28

want something tomorrow , which

14:30

is what maybe paper click can do for you . Can

14:32

that get you some quick phone calls ? Yeah , you're

14:35

going to pay a higher price . You're going to get a

14:37

shitty customer that wants a cheap price , but

14:39

yeah , can it make a quicker impact ? Yes

14:42

, but by no means will ever help you achieve

14:44

, most likely , what your vision is , and

14:46

that is working , less stressing

14:49

less , less chaos , less

14:52

ad expense , more

14:55

personal growth , more career growth

14:57

, more business growth . All

15:00

of that is possible If you're

15:02

fixing the wounds , not

15:05

paying for the band aid that goes over the wounds , like

15:07

so many of you do , and if you don't

15:09

have a personal vision statement

15:11

. What you're going to constantly be doing is investing

15:13

in the band aids and you're going to be

15:15

ignoring the wounds Right

15:19

Like a a Ginny Craig weight

15:22

loss plan , eating plan . That's

15:25

a band aid that is

15:27

not fixing the root cause

15:29

of the wound . That is why what these companies don't

15:31

tell you oftentimes is they'll show you

15:33

the success stories , but what they don't show

15:35

you is what happens to those success stories a year

15:37

or two later . They're right back where they were

15:39

right , because they never invested

15:41

in the actual wound . They

15:44

invested in the band aid that covers it up , which

15:46

is what outside your door advertising is

15:48

. If you need it and you have to spend it

15:50

, it means you are not good enough inside

15:52

your doors to create super fans , not customers

15:55

, that become your sales force for

15:57

you Period . The

16:01

self discipline is the wound

16:03

the discipline

16:06

to make the right decisions around controlling

16:08

your calories , around eating the right

16:10

things , around getting in the gym , around

16:13

this , this mix match between cardio and

16:15

and and lifting weights , because there is

16:17

a balance and that balance is different for everybody

16:19

. Those are the wounds that have to be healed

16:21

and have to be worked on

16:23

constantly if you want to remain in shape

16:25

for the rest of your life Period . Nobody

16:28

on TV with weight loss commercials is ever

16:30

going to tell you that so

16:33

many of you are obsessed with

16:35

the band aid that covers up the real problems

16:37

. Now

16:41

I talked about what a

16:43

personal vision statement is going

16:45

to include right , it's going to include the what , why

16:47

and how , and

16:50

and what this personal vision statement

16:52

is going to do and

16:54

what it needs to just overall include

16:56

and you need to be thinking about is number one , your interests

16:59

. Like you don't want to

17:01

be creating a vision for yourself

17:03

around things that you have no interest in

17:05

. That would be silly , but a lot of people do it

17:07

. Number

17:09

two is just your overall skill sets

17:11

. You have to be honest with yourself on

17:14

what you're really good at and what you're

17:16

really bad at and the things that go in

17:18

between . Because

17:20

if you're creating a vision that

17:22

requires in order to achieve it

17:24

, requires your

17:27

bad skill sets , your weaknesses

17:30

, your fears , I've got to

17:32

tell you you're in real trouble . Most

17:34

likely you're not going to achieve

17:36

it . Now that doesn't

17:38

mean that your vision has to only include

17:41

you know skill sets that you're

17:43

great at , because part of what I teach you is

17:45

, if you want to get the most out of your life and career and business

17:47

, you better admit your faults , you better face your

17:49

weaknesses , you better realize your weaknesses

17:51

, face your fears and you

17:53

better get help in order

17:55

to overcome those things . If

17:59

you don't , your career and your business will always

18:01

suffer . Your values what

18:03

do you value ? That

18:05

has got to be part of the personal

18:07

vision statement . And

18:13

then , what does the world need ? And what we really

18:15

mean by that is is what problems

18:17

are you trying to solve

18:19

? And , as an entrepreneur

18:21

, we're always looking at things very differently

18:23

, always looking at

18:26

why are you doing it that way ? Where's a solution

18:28

to that ? That's , we're just tearing everything apart . That's

18:30

why sometimes we can be difficult to deal with and

18:33

oftentimes why I believe 75%

18:37

of billionaires never

18:39

went to college or they dropped out . We are

18:41

fighting with the professors , we are fighting

18:43

with our teachers saying you know what you're talking about

18:45

, I'm going to do it a different way , but

18:50

you have to identify what

18:54

real problems are out there and

18:56

how you're going to fix them and

18:59

what , inevitably , is your ultimate goal

19:02

. What are you trying to achieve For me , for

19:04

all of you again , is you

19:07

being able to achieve that

19:09

financial and personal freedom , enough

19:12

money , that you're making enough money

19:14

to go out and the

19:17

way you have your career and business set up , that you

19:19

have enough time to go enjoy it

19:21

and you have enough

19:23

money to enjoy it ? And

19:25

what I didn't say earlier . There's kind of

19:27

a catch 22 , right , if you have the time

19:29

but you don't have the money

19:32

, that sucks . But

19:35

if you have the money but you

19:37

don't have the time , that sucks

19:39

. So you've really got

19:41

to create this personal vision statement around

19:43

. How are you going

19:45

to get to a place where

19:47

you have the time and freedom to

19:50

do what you want and the financial

19:53

freedom that's going to allow you to

19:55

do it ? And unfortunately , we

19:57

all have to make a lot more money today because

20:01

the politicians steal it from us . They

20:04

have no idea where it's going to go . You basically

20:06

have to make two times the amount of money today

20:09

to enjoy what

20:11

you want to enjoy in your personal time than

20:13

you used to . We

20:16

live in the heart of socialism and we don't even

20:18

realize it . What

20:21

I just talked about there , it stresses

20:23

me out , it gives me anxiety and

20:26

because it's uncontrollable

20:29

and those are the things that , ironically

20:31

, I teach if you can't control them , you

20:34

shouldn't worry about them , but oftentimes and I know

20:36

this for all of you out there it's far

20:38

easier said than done . So

20:42

oftentimes , if I can control it , I don't worry

20:44

about those things because I know they're going to go well . It's

20:46

the uncontrollables that make me nervous , and

20:49

I know that's the case for so many of you out there . But

20:52

what gets me by , when I'm feeling

20:54

stressed , when I'm feeling anxious , is

20:57

going back to this personal vision

20:59

statement . It

21:02

will so much help you get through if

21:05

your business isn't growing Employees

21:07

, if your career is advancing , if you're

21:09

not enjoying life away from work . If

21:13

you go back to this personal vision statement

21:15

, it will give you so much clarity and

21:18

so much more peace , so much more calmness

21:20

, which you could

21:22

argue that we all need . I don't think you can ever

21:24

have enough zen

21:26

in your life . And

21:30

as you have this personal

21:32

vision statement , it

21:35

becomes easier to make decisions . You

21:37

go back to that weight loss example and me

21:39

saying look , just get started , just

21:41

go . Drop down . Give me 50 push-ups

21:44

, just go . Stop eating

21:46

at 11 o'clock at night . Cut off your dinner at 9

21:48

. Your last meal at 9 or 7

21:50

, whatever it is , just go

21:54

. But as you're going , once you have

21:56

these vision statements in place , you're

22:00

able to always go back to the vision

22:02

to make the decision Should I hire

22:04

this company , should I not ? If you are easier

22:06

, if you have a vision , because you have to

22:08

choose , even if it's more expensive . You

22:11

have to choose the company that's

22:13

going to help you meet your vision , and

22:16

I would argue greatly that

22:19

, again , don't let the numbers on paper lie

22:21

to you Just because on paper , one company is

22:23

cheaper . If another company is going

22:25

to produce a higher return by getting you to

22:27

your vision and beyond that

22:29

, one is the one you go with , even

22:31

if they're a lot more expensive . And

22:35

I get asked all the time when I deliver this

22:37

on stage okay , brian , what's your

22:39

personal vision ? And

22:43

it goes back to the what , why

22:45

, how . The

22:47

what is is I want

22:50

to teach people how to get the most

22:52

out of their

22:54

personal life , their professional

22:56

career , and for business

22:58

owners , entrepreneurs , out of their

23:01

businesses . The reason

23:03

I want to do that is I believe wholeheartedly

23:06

that all of the above , all those people

23:08

out there , can achieve

23:11

personal and financial freedom

23:13

by doing

23:15

the things and focusing

23:17

and having a self-discipline on the things that they can

23:20

control . So I have my

23:22

what , I have my wife , my

23:24

wife , my belief system . Now , how I do that

23:26

is by creating

23:29

ongoing content via podcasts

23:31

on stage , walking

23:34

into people's businesses , which I call my private

23:36

clients , where I fly to see you and we

23:38

block a day . We work with your waiters and your

23:40

management team to become better leaders and

23:43

help you enhance your digital marketing

23:45

presence organically . And how to tie a choreographed

23:48

journey at your business to tell

23:50

a story to your employees , your

23:52

perspectives , your prospective customers

23:54

and your customers on why you're

23:57

superior , and through that , we're

23:59

going to set up the business in a way that

24:02

allows you to make more while working

24:04

, stress less and spend less

24:06

. That's

24:09

my vision . Simply put , I

24:12

want to teach all of you how to get the most

24:14

out of your life , career and business , because

24:16

I believe all of you out there can

24:18

achieve personal and financial

24:20

freedom by

24:22

implementing the things that I go around teaching

24:25

all over the world . Now

24:28

, here , though , is what I have not talked

24:30

about . That's part of this

24:32

personal vision . See , obviously

24:35

there are so many different categories . Like

24:37

, you can't just create your personal vision , you're going to be

24:39

good to go , but that's a starting point of what

24:41

we're talking about . We're talking about overcoming

24:43

not even having one , overcoming

24:46

lack of vision . So you've got

24:48

the what , you've got the why , you've

24:50

got the how . Now , part of

24:52

the importance of what I'm about

24:54

to talk about is understanding . You've got

24:56

to put yourself

24:59

first , in a way , in order to get the personal

25:01

vision accomplished

25:04

. Here's an example of what I'm talking

25:06

about . You know I live my life for

25:09

all of you out there , but

25:11

part of the how in my vision

25:14

statement that's included in there Not verbally

25:16

, you didn't hear me say this , but

25:19

this is a subcategory that I pay very close attention

25:21

to is an order for me to be

25:23

my best for all of you . I've

25:26

got to be in a wonderful mental

25:28

and physical state of mind . It's just that

25:30

simple . So my

25:33

health , what I eat , how I work out

25:35

regimen , personal

25:37

trainers , pushing myself to the limit

25:39

All of that stuff is very intertwined

25:42

in order for me to be great for you Also

25:44

, being a great father , being a

25:46

great husband , if I'm running a

25:48

chaotic household and there's constant stress

25:50

coming from it , that is going to affect my

25:52

mental and physical well-being , which is

25:55

going to , in turn , affect all of you . So these are

25:57

the things as I go through

25:59

the what , the why , the how

26:01

. These are these categories below

26:03

that I must keep at

26:06

high , high levels in

26:08

order to achieve my personal

26:11

vision and see for all of you , if

26:13

you have this vision , it's so easy to make

26:15

decisions now for

26:18

six months and a year from now , rather

26:20

than making decisions for the tomorrow , In

26:23

this instant , gratification . That just flat

26:26

out does not work . If

26:28

you want the most out of life , your career , business

26:30

owners out there , your business it does not

26:32

work . If you're thinking as far as a week from now

26:34

or tomorrow , you are going to make shitty decisions

26:38

. That simple . So

26:42

obviously there are multiple categories

26:44

under each what , why , how

26:46

but you see how

26:48

I can always go back to my

26:52

vision , regardless

26:55

of whether it's a decision for my life , a

26:57

decision for my career , decision for

26:59

one of my companies , and this

27:02

is so much easier too . As your companies

27:04

, we all have years where our companies don't do

27:06

well , and one of the things

27:08

I teach is how to recession proof your business

27:10

, meaning that that does not mean that you're always going to

27:12

thrive every year , but it means that

27:14

you're always going to be , every year , better at

27:16

the things you can control than

27:18

the people . That would be your quote , unquote

27:20

competition . I say that with air quotes because if you

27:23

listen and follow me , you know I do not believe

27:25

the girl down the street guy down the street that

27:27

owns the same type company as you as your competition

27:29

. I believe you and your team

27:31

are your competition , because

27:33

if you're constantly getting better at what you can control

27:36

, you have to be happy with that , because you can't control

27:38

the other stuff . Some people maybe

27:40

even get luckier , some people don't . Some

27:43

people their time just hasn't come . Whatever

27:45

it might be , you cannot control it , but you can

27:47

control the discipline of the decisions that

27:49

relate back to the vision , to

27:52

make sure that your business is always striving

27:54

towards that vision . Your career , employees

27:56

are striving towards that vision , your

27:59

life , everybody striving towards that

28:01

vision . And if that's the case

28:03

I am a huge believer you will always come

28:05

out ahead of other people that may

28:07

have success now before you

28:09

. You

28:11

will eventually outperform them in

28:14

whatever you're trying to accomplish life , career

28:16

, business down the road , but

28:19

it's got to always be relatable

28:21

back to your personal vision

28:23

. Statement has to be and

28:25

this is the exercise I'm going to leave you with I

28:28

want you to go create your personal vision and

28:32

again the vision that I just discussed that goes into

28:34

that is my life , that

28:36

is my career and my companies , all

28:39

intertwined . I want you to

28:41

go out and find your personal

28:43

vision and you create that again with

28:46

the what you do , why

28:49

you do it , how you're going to do it

28:51

. I want you to go and create that and

28:53

before you come back with episode three of

28:56

this series and I'm not going

28:58

to announce that title yet because I'm still taking some

29:00

notes on which ones I want to go with next but

29:02

before you come back , I want you to have done

29:04

the first one about procrastination and

29:07

finish that exercise , and I want you to come back

29:09

with your personal vision statement

29:11

, because you got to have one . If

29:14

you are going to be self disciplined because now

29:16

I can tie all of the decisions

29:18

that I make , I

29:20

can be disciplined around those

29:22

decisions , focused

29:25

around those decisions , to

29:28

make sure my vision becomes

29:30

a reality , both for me personally

29:32

, my family and for all of you

29:34

out there . I hope you enjoyed the second part

29:37

of our series around self discipline . Go out

29:39

29:41

be glad you did . We'll be back with another episode
