Nick Bollinger is a music critic, culture critic, and musician. He plays bass guitar in the blues band The Windy City Strugglers.Bollinger has played guitar in many bands, including Rough Justice, Ducks, Pelicans, Living Daylights, Laconics, and Windy City Strugglers.Bollinger held odd jobs before becoming a full-time record reviewer and rock journalist. He is a regular contributor to the New Zealand Listener and has written for Mojo, Rhythms, International Arts Manager, Rip It Up, and The New Zealand Herald. Since 2001 he has written, produced and presented the music review program "The Sampler" for New Zealand’s National Radio.Bollinger's first book, "How to Listen to Pop Music," was published in 2004. His second book, "100 Essential New Zealand Albums," was published in 2009.
