In this episode Moses reviews Israels defeat of Og the last of the Amorite giants.
He also tells us that God was angry with him because of what happened at the waters of Meribah. At the waters of Meribah God said, Moses failed to sanctify him before the people. There Moses scolded the people and called them rebels.
Moses said, he asked God if he could enter into the promised land but God told him no, and he didn’t want to hear any more about the matter he wasn’t going to go in, he was told to go up to the top of Pisgah and see it from there but he wasn’t going over the Jordan.
We note that God told Moses to speak to the rock but he struck it twice then called the people rebels. And after he called the people rebels, God called Moses and Aaron rebels.
He told them to do one thing but they did another. So they were rebels too, and since the previous generation of rebels didn’t inherit the promised land but wandered the wilderness for 40 years and died the same would happen to them.
This points to what Jesus said about judging others. Christ told his followers not to judge or condemn others because the same measure they used to judge others will be used against them. It’s a spiritual principle that is always at work.
God is not a respecter of persons, so Moses and Aaron were not allowed to enter into the promised land.
So out of love Jesus warned us to be cautious in judging and condemning others, for our own sake.
Here's the text:
Matthew 7:1 Judge not, that ye be not judged.
Matthew 7:2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.
Luke 6:37 Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven:
