Hey, hey, hey, welcome back to another episode
0:07
of the in between. I'm your host Elizabeth
0:10
Cheney. Yes, I came back
0:12
two weeks later like I said I was. I'm
0:14
very proud of me. I don't know if you are, but I
0:16
am proud of me. And that's all that matters.
0:19
I am proud of me. Well, welcome back.
0:21
Uh, don't know what's going on in your world. Uh,
0:24
we had the inauguration this week. That's
0:27
about the acknowledgement I will give to that.
0:29
It also snowed here in Georgia. Uh,
0:32
second time in two weeks. It was great.
0:34
Part of why this episode is slightly delayed
0:36
is because, well, this 33
0:38
year old child had to go play in the snow. Speaking
0:42
of 33, fun fact,
0:44
I saw this on the internet. The oldest
0:46
millennial will soon be 44.
0:50
Let that soak in all
0:52
my millennial babies. The oldest
0:54
millennial is going to be 44
0:57
this year. Huh? Makes
1:00
me feel a little old, just a little bit, even though
1:02
I'm like 10 years from that. Also, how long are generations?
1:04
I thought they were like 10 years, but what do I know? Not
1:07
much. Apparently so 44 years old,
1:09
oldest millennial, it also snowed in some
1:11
weird areas, like New Orleans, for
1:14
example. New Orleans got, what, over a foot
1:16
of snow. Gulf Shores, Alabama got
1:18
8 to 10 inches. Florida got tons
1:20
of snow. South Georgia, Savannah. It's
1:23
a little weird out there. It's a little,
1:25
um, let's just say the areas that
1:28
don't get snow got snow. A little
1:30
peculiar out there, but you know, that's
1:32
okay. This is not a conversation
1:34
on climate change or global warming. I
1:36
did see this thing on the internet, so of course it's definitely
1:39
true. I hope
1:41
you've sensed my sarcasm. Uh,
1:43
but jokes aside, who knows if this was real or not, but
1:45
it was definitely a nice thought. So
1:47
I will say this, they were talking about
1:50
winter and mother earth, probably
1:52
one of the weird woo woo things I follow.
1:54
And they, she was saying that, Sometimes
1:57
extreme weather, winter conditions,
1:59
is because Earth is cooling off.
2:02
And now that I say that out
2:04
loud After
2:06
already acknowledging or admitting the fact
2:08
that this was probably from some wooboo thing I follow,
2:11
that's insane, but it's a nice, it's a nice
2:13
thought, right? It's a nice thought that global,
2:16
global warming, climate change, psh, no,
2:18
it's just Earth cooling off. She got a little
2:20
too hot. She's like, oh, let me,
2:22
let me put the AC on here. Uh,
2:25
but you know, like I
2:27
said, it's a nice thought. Who knows
2:29
what the facts are and maybe there is some
2:31
truth to it, you know? I
2:33
like to think of the universe as one big
2:36
giant living organism So planet Earth
2:38
is essentially that itself a
2:40
giant living organism Which kind of makes sense if you think
2:42
about all of us living on here,
2:45
but you know, maybe it is Earth
2:47
trying to take a, take a beat,
2:50
cool off, because we are pumping
2:52
out so much heat here. Crazy
2:55
weather. Crazy weather. I'm not going to complain
2:57
though, because I do love the snow. It's been a lot
2:59
of fun. But anyways, I
3:02
was a local hometown
3:04
hero yesterday when
3:06
it started snowing. And I want to preface
3:08
this by saying all the news people made it
3:10
seem like it wasn't really going to snow. It was
3:12
going to be not a big deal. Business
3:15
as usual. Then it
3:17
snowed a lot more than they thought it was going to,
3:19
which is always, oh, when you're here in Georgia, because
3:21
guess what? We don't know how to handle it. We
3:23
don't know how to drive in the snow. We do not salt
3:26
our roads the way that they should be salted. So it's
3:28
a little hairy out there. so
3:30
I was walking the neighborhood. This was like early afternoon
3:32
ish. And. I'm
3:34
talking to one of my girlfriends on the phone. And
3:36
I see somebody struggling to get up the hill. And
3:39
this was right around the time, but it was like, Ooh, you're either
3:41
going to make it or you don't. Because again, it
3:43
snowed way more than we thought it was going to.
3:45
So, you know, be, be glad that you at least
3:47
made it to the neighborhood kind of thing. And
3:49
I see another person, another woman helping
3:52
this person try to push their car. And she's
3:54
struggling because it's ice. It's snowing. I
3:57
don't know. I just felt like, look at these,
3:59
look at this woman helping this other woman in the car.
4:01
I am a woman. Let me go help said women
4:03
of the neighborhood. And, you know. Save
4:06
the day. I'm just kidding. That wasn't my, my intention,
4:08
but it was, let me go see if I can help. So
4:11
me and this girl, we're trying to push the car
4:13
up the hill because basically the person
4:15
was like maybe six feet from their turn and
4:17
then their house was right there. So I was like, no, we got
4:19
this. I'm going to help. Cause she was like, I can
4:22
just park it on the road. And I'm like, no, there's going to be more people
4:24
that are going to get stuck. You live right there.
4:26
We got this. Well, I
4:28
spoke before I realized how slippery
4:31
it was. So as
4:34
we are pushing, I'm like, you know, slipping and
4:36
sliding, like the Flintstones, like, and
4:39
I am trying to keep my cool. Cause I'm
4:41
the one that just like empowered everyone to try this
4:43
one more time because now we have
4:45
a third party involved. So
4:48
I can't really extend my arms all the way,
4:50
or else I will completely face plant on
4:52
the ice. So I'm having to keep my arms
4:54
restricted, but Keep them strong,
4:57
obviously, because I'm trying to push, and if I kept them, like,
4:59
restricted, I had enough momentum with
5:01
strength to push, but not slip. However,
5:04
right when we were about to get her to the
5:06
turn, I bumped my chin on
5:08
the car hood. Well, not the hood, the trunk. Thankfully,
5:11
it didn't hurt too much. Maybe I was in denial because it was so
5:13
cold, but I was like, Oh, I'm fine, nothing,
5:15
just a scratch. We're going to keep going. Jokes
5:18
aside, The fair maiden
5:20
made it to her house. She made
5:23
it to the turn, and we got that sucker,
5:25
we got, or I should say, me and my new friend Elena,
5:27
got that car up, up the hill
5:29
and down the road. So, you
5:32
know, I'm not gonna call myself a hero.
5:36
I'll leave that to y'all. But I will say,
5:38
mm, it felt good to do a good thing.
5:40
I felt so empowered after that. I was like, you
5:42
know what? Nothing can rain on my
5:45
parade. And I made two new friends in
5:47
the neighborhood, which is something that I've been dying to do. So that
5:49
was great. Two new friends who are also my
5:51
age. So it's like a double whammy. Love
5:53
that, for me. So,
5:56
and I felt the weather. Even though the weather has
5:58
been insane. Again, 44 year
6:00
old millennial, have fun with that fun fact.
6:03
I, I definitely cried about it. I'm
6:06
just kidding, I definitely did not cry about it. And if you're crying
6:08
about it Age is just a number, baby.
6:10
Age is just a number. Don't be afraid to get
6:12
older. Life just keeps getting better. And
6:15
we will, uh, we will fact check that and
6:17
see how I feel 10 years from now when I am 44.
6:19
But, you know, neither here nor there. Neither
6:22
here nor there. So,
6:24
what's new? What's going on? last
6:27
conversation I kind of talked about,
6:29
hey, my life imploded. Can't give you too much
6:31
of that right now, but don't worry, we'll get there soon enough. We
6:33
talked about the words of the year, and I picked
6:35
three. Becoming, possibility,
6:37
expansion. And I have to say,
6:40
I'm really leaning in towards possibility
6:42
and expansion more. Um,
6:45
more so, expansion.
6:47
So let's just see how they evolve. I've got all three
6:50
still on my board and maybe it's just like
6:52
an ebb and flow of the year, you know, but
6:54
a few other goals that I want to do cause I didn't
6:56
make a vision board this year nor did I have a vision board party,
6:58
but I want to learn piano
7:00
and at least want to learn pink pony club.
7:02
Don't ask me why I
7:05
have this specific vision and dream of me
7:07
singing that song, playing piano,
7:09
living my best life. Everyone's
7:11
around singing the song with me. It's the best.
7:14
form of community I can think of in the moment, and
7:16
I just want that moment for myself. So,
7:19
on the quote, end quote, vision board,
7:22
there is Liz Learns Pink Pony
7:24
Club on the piano. will she learn other
7:26
songs? I hope so. Uh,
7:28
but that is the main focus. It's
7:32
definitely something I still want to do. Uh, I would
7:34
like to learn a yoga handstand. Maybe not one with
7:36
my full arms extended because that seems impossible,
7:38
but you know when you're like on your forearms or whatever. That
7:41
would be great. Duolingo. I'd love
7:43
to pick back up my Spanish lessons. You
7:45
know, at one point, I could ask, where is
7:47
the airport? I couldn't tell you that right now, but
7:49
at one point last year, I could. So,
7:52
it'd be great to bring that back up. Create more content.
7:54
That's always a goal. I think as things
7:56
in my life start to settle,
7:59
the dust starts to clear, so to speak. I'll get better
8:01
at that, but definitely going to bring more fashion
8:03
content and, you know, in
8:05
a forever pursuit of
8:07
my dreams, ambitions, and goals, making
8:10
the world a better place, spreading self love.
8:13
I know, not simple. She is not
8:15
a simple girl. She will never be a simple girl
8:18
no matter how much she wishes she could be.
8:20
But, you know I'm learning to
8:22
embrace the whole no chill vibe and
8:24
the whole like, I love life vibe. So,
8:28
there's always one in the group and I guess that's me.
8:30
Um, I
8:32
can't remember if I mentioned this on the last episode,
8:34
but I am going to Norway. We're going,
8:37
I say we because me and my girlfriend Ashley Anna are going
8:39
to Norway in March, gonna have the winter
8:41
wonderland. I can't wait. It's going to be
8:44
spiritual. It's going to be healing. It's going
8:46
to be beautiful. And
8:48
I'm going to get my snow fix as I took
8:50
up the first part of this whole episode was just
8:52
talking about geeking out about really the
8:55
snow. I can't wait to have my winter
8:57
wonderland in Norway from snowballing. fjords,
9:01
all the things, the food, the snow. I just
9:03
can't wait. I just can't wait. We talked
9:05
about maybe doing an episode while we're there, but
9:07
that would require me to figure out how
9:10
to record like that
9:12
remotely and equipment and all that.
9:14
But maybe, maybe I'll pull through. Maybe she'll, she'll
9:16
get it all together. Cause wouldn't that be epic? Especially
9:18
if it was like at night and then we had
9:20
the Aurora Borealis behind us. I mean, that would be like.
9:23
Such a, bunch of different
9:25
things to happen all at once. Most
9:27
importantly, me figuring out how to record,
9:30
but you never know. You never know, because
9:32
what's the word of the year? Possibility.
9:34
The possibilities are endless. That's definitely one.
9:37
It's possible. But enough
9:39
about winter. Well, not really about winter. Kind of
9:42
continuing to speak about winter, but enough about the weather.
9:45
With winter comes hibernating, right?
9:47
A lot of animals hibernate, bears
9:50
hibernate. Side note,
9:53
if you want a fun little thing to do, you should
9:55
Google bears pre hibernation
9:57
and post hibernation. It's quite an
9:59
interesting, um, before
10:01
and after shot. Very,
10:04
I forget who told me to do that. I feel like that was recently,
10:06
like in the past year. But anyways, I did it and I was like, whoa!
10:08
That bear is looking kind
10:10
of ragged and very skinny versus it's
10:12
super, super like seven times plump
10:14
size before. So if you want a little giggle,
10:17
Google it pre hibernation,
10:19
post hibernation bears. But
10:21
anyways, back to hibernating. So all that
10:24
to say winter cold
10:26
things slow down. Um, Things die,
10:28
in a way, to be reborn, right?
10:31
And this kind of ties into
10:33
what I talked about last time about
10:36
life imploding and you just have to
10:38
take things moment by moment, day by day,
10:40
whatever measurement you need in
10:42
your situation. that's
10:45
how I am viewing my current season.
10:48
January, I mean we're almost done with January and
10:50
it's been very slow. A lot
10:52
of things that I was hoping to have made progress on,
10:54
um, in my life, haven't quite got
10:57
there. But part of that is because, well,
10:59
you know, these things take time. You can't
11:01
figure everything out all at once, no matter how
11:03
much I wish we could. February
11:05
is probably going to be a little bit slower, but things
11:07
are going to start to improve, start to pick up, start
11:09
to feel a little bit more energetically
11:14
Sound awake for myself, especially
11:17
and then I feel like March that's when things are really
11:19
going to start flying and flowing I
11:21
mean March is gonna kick off with my Norway trip. So I'm sure
11:24
that helps but all this to
11:26
say hibernating
11:28
It's okay to hibernate It's okay
11:30
to just Go slow
11:33
Be at peace Take time
11:36
do things as They
11:38
come versus trying to do all the things all
11:40
at once You know, when life
11:43
gives you radical change, hits you with
11:45
that, Whoa! Everything is different.
11:48
Nothing is the same. It's
11:50
okay to hibernate. It's
11:52
okay to choose you and take care of your
11:54
needs. And
11:57
as we get along in the year, as we move along,
11:59
move forward, I'm gonna start to share more about
12:01
what's going on in my life. And
12:04
in this hibernating
12:06
phase, season I'm in, lots of introspection,
12:09
lots of Perspective
12:12
shifts, if you will. And
12:14
one big thing that I have learned in
12:16
all of this is no
12:18
matter how hard it is,
12:22
choosing your own happiness, choosing
12:24
you is the most important thing you
12:26
can do for yourself. Sometimes
12:29
it's the hardest thing you can do, especially
12:31
if you're a nurturer, especially if you're a giver,
12:33
especially if you're a lover, especially
12:36
if you see the good in everybody, And
12:38
you want what's best for everyone. Sometimes
12:41
choosing you, choosing your own
12:43
happiness is really hard. And
12:47
I hope that with the in between
12:50
and my message and what I am trying to
12:52
do here in the world and whatever, the little,
12:54
little corner of the internet that I take up, I
12:57
hope that I can show you that choosing you no matter
12:59
how hard it is, how hard it can
13:01
be, is the
13:04
only option for you. Because
13:06
everything that you want in life, all the abundance, all
13:08
the happiness, all the joy, all the peace, everything
13:11
is on the other side of you choosing you.
13:14
Maybe not all at once, and you probably
13:16
definitely can't see it all there. And this
13:18
could be in any, any area of your
13:20
life, your work, where
13:22
you live, your family, your friends,
13:25
your partner. So in these seasons
13:28
of slow, in these seasons of hibernating,
13:30
and coincidentally mine does line up with winter.
13:33
As a planner, your girl really appreciates that. But
13:37
during these seasons, I do encourage you to check in with
13:39
yourself. Where are you pushing yourself
13:41
too hard? Where are you not choosing
13:43
yourself? I mentioned last time I'm
13:45
rereading Untamed. I'm almost finished, you
13:48
know, taking my time with it, soaking in
13:50
all the good, the good energy of that
13:52
text that I can. And one of the chapters
13:54
I just finished, Glennon was talking about
13:56
her anger and how
14:00
your anger is almost always
14:02
a projection from within. I'm
14:04
not saying the person doesn't deserve the anger or
14:07
with a situation doesn't deserve the anger. But
14:10
you need to check in with yourself on where that anger
14:12
is coming from. Where is that anger
14:14
better directed? Are
14:16
you angry right now? What's going
14:18
on? Why are you not happy? What
14:21
things in your life can you change? What
14:23
things can you not? Are you sad?
14:26
Are you filling up your cup? Or are you filling
14:28
into everyone else's? Check
14:30
in with yourself. It's an easy
14:32
idea, but it's so hard to do sometimes, especially
14:34
in the hustle and bustle of life, even in
14:37
the slower seasons. Heck, sometimes
14:39
even the slower seasons, it's harder because you're
14:41
bogged down with other stuff. so
14:43
my advice for you this week, these next two weeks,
14:46
if you're in those seasons, a season
14:48
of change, a season of slowing down, a season
14:50
of hibernating. A
14:53
season of, I just need to be at the moment.
14:55
It's okay. In most places in the world,
14:57
if you look out, everything's dead right now. Everything's
15:00
sleeping. Getting ready
15:02
to boast a plentiful,
15:05
bountiful spring and summer. The year's
15:07
just getting started, there's still time
15:09
to crush your goals. There's still time
15:11
to do all the things that you want to do. There's still
15:14
time for you to learn the piano and
15:16
learn pink bunny club and have your freaking
15:18
moment. There's still time.
15:21
Just make sure you're choosing you. That's
15:23
all that I ask. All right,
15:26
got a little deep, that felt good. Got my, got
15:28
my mojo back. Um,
15:30
you know, I just had a random thought. So looking at
15:32
my backyard, looking out at my backyard, excuse
15:34
me, there's lots of wildlife. I'm not
15:36
used to that from the city city because, well,
15:39
there's just buildings everywhere and the wildlife
15:41
is limited. So there's like lots of little birds
15:44
and critters out there, and there's lots of woodpeckers.
15:46
And, you know, when you start thinking about
15:49
something too hard, it either Makes
15:51
you realize how weird something is or how
15:54
funny something is, or just however something
15:56
is in a woodpecker
15:59
that is the most accurate animal name, woodpecker.
16:02
It literally is named what it does. It
16:04
pecks wood. A woodpecker. What
16:07
a weird animal name, but also
16:09
so on point, so specifically,
16:12
so specific, interesting.
16:15
I say that I'm like, well, a blue footed booby,
16:18
which I know that's such a weird bird name too.
16:20
That is what it is too. It's a blue footed
16:23
booby. So I don't know. I
16:26
don't know all that to say, woodpeckers,
16:28
blue footed boobies, Robins, cardinals,
16:31
there's lots of animals in the world. And I
16:33
have reached that point in my life where I now
16:35
love staring out into nature and the animals
16:37
doing their thing. So You
16:40
know what? As I say that, I guess my
16:42
hibernation period is also entering
16:44
