Great to have you along for the ride. Thanks

0:02

a lot for stopping by. Glad to have this

0:04

man back. It's Dr. Ben Carson. Of course, that

0:06

Dr. Ben Carson. It looks like it's a new

0:08

website, Ben. Common Sense with drbenkarson.com now, right? Yeah,

0:11

that's our podcast. I love it. How are you

0:13

doing? It's good to see you. It's been a

0:16

while. I'm doing well. Been

0:18

running around all of the country, talking

0:21

to people in just about every

0:23

location and quite encouraged

0:25

by what I see. I think

0:27

people are really waking up and recognizing

0:30

this is a pivotal election that

0:32

is coming up. And I

0:34

hear so many people who don't

0:37

vote who say, well, my one vote

0:39

really doesn't matter. But

0:41

there was a story that broke this morning

0:43

about a Chinese student at the University of

0:45

Michigan in Ann Arbor who

0:47

voted illegally. And

0:50

that his vote is going to count. What

0:53

kind of universe is that? I'm

0:55

sorry, why is his vote going to count? Why? I

0:58

don't understand why his boat has to

1:00

count. But just remember this. If you're

1:02

that one person who says my vote doesn't count,

1:04

you can cancel his vote out. Yes. 100%. It's

1:07

a very good point. It's Dr. Ben Carson. Of course,

1:10

the former HUD secretary under President Trump. I want to

1:12

get into where you're from and where I spent a

1:14

lot of time. You just mentioned Ann Arbor, of course,

1:16

right next door is Detroit. That's where

1:18

you're from. Lizzo was in Detroit

1:20

with Kamala Harris recently. And she said you

1:23

have to vote for Kamala Harris. If

1:26

you, something to the effect of, then every

1:29

city can be Detroit, something like that. And

1:31

Ben, I love you. I love Motor City.

1:33

I love that I did. I did a

1:35

big report on Motown's 40th anniversary when I

1:38

was a news anchor there. I

1:40

love the music, the cars, the energy, but the

1:42

city of Detroit is a dump because of how

1:44

badly it's been run. For her to allege that

1:46

if you have to vote for Kamala Harris so

1:48

that you can have Detroit across the country, I

1:50

don't think that was the right thing to say.

1:53

No, I think the Detroit that we want

1:55

is the Detroit of old. Yes. The one

1:57

that Donald Trump was talking about restoring. by

2:00

restoring the automobile industry and By

2:04

putting tariffs where they need to be

2:06

put to keep the Chinese from flooding

2:08

our country with with their product That

2:12

was a very prosperous Detroit. In fact,

2:14

that was the most prosperous city in

2:16

the United States of America so there

2:18

is an illustrious history, but that

2:20

was a while ago and Certainly

2:23

we would desire to get back to

2:25

that kind of an economy But

2:27

in order to do that, we need real leadership Courageous

2:31

leadership and leadership that understands

2:33

business and again you're from

2:35

there. I spent a lot of time They're

2:37

doing automotive stories. The auto industry

2:39

was rocking 60 years ago, but

2:41

for the last 60 70 years It's

2:44

been run that city's been run by left-wing loons.

2:46

Some of them ended up in jail That's how

2:48

bad they were the mayors of that city. So

2:50

you're right I mean you've got to be able

2:52

to have our automotive industry compete with China. Have

2:55

you been to China Ben? I

3:01

Went to China to adopt my daughter Gia while

3:03

I was there I noticed there were no American

3:05

cars while I was there I noticed there weren't

3:07

any American products or a tag on a product

3:09

that said made in the USA We

3:11

are flooded with Chinese goods here and

3:13

the tariffs are very simply just to

3:16

say we want an even playing field

3:18

They're not paying their labor enough over

3:20

in China. They are undercutting all of

3:22

our manufacturing here You add tariffs to

3:24

give American jobs and American manufacturer is

3:26

a chance, right? No

3:29

question about it. And all you have to do is

3:31

you don't think back very far just back to the

3:33

Trump administration How well

3:35

things are going? Economically and

3:37

the tariffs were used not on everything

3:39

but strategically which is the way they

3:41

would be used now Of course

3:43

many on the other side are saying Donald Trump's

3:46

gonna put tariffs on everything The price of everything

3:48

is gonna go up your life is gonna be

3:50

miserable and they get a few Economists

3:52

to agree with them right and

3:54

present that as gospel but

3:57

people all they need to

3:59

do is study our past history, our recent

4:02

past history, and you can see that his

4:05

administration actually was very

4:07

intelligent, very logical, and

4:09

very business oriented, and it obviously worked

4:11

to the benefit of the American people.

4:13

Dr. Ben Carson, Common Sense with drbencarson.com.

4:15

Go and check out the podcast. His

4:17

latest book is The Perilous Fight. It's

4:20

available everywhere that books are sold. Make sure you go and

4:22

get it. Why do you think really smart people, and I'll

4:24

name Mark Cuban. I've had him on the show a couple

4:27

of times. I like Mark Cuban. I don't like what he's

4:29

saying. Today he said that Trump,

4:31

have you ever noticed Trump doesn't have any smart women

4:33

around him? What? You

4:36

got Tulsi Gabbard and Laura Trump, and I mean

4:38

just down the list, Lauren Boebert, you've got MTG,

4:40

you've got people who are very, Melania Trump is

4:42

extremely smart. I don't know what he's talking.

4:44

Sage Steele is out there in the campaign trail with him. When

4:47

they say things like that, what do you think they're

4:49

hoping to gain? Because women out there, whether they're left

4:51

or right, aren't going to want to hear Mark Cuban

4:54

talk down to women, are they? Well,

4:56

that was a boneheaded comment. I'm sure he would

4:58

take it back if he had not done it

5:00

this. I mean, clearly,

5:03

there have been a lot of incredibly smart

5:06

women around Trump. And

5:08

his last administration, he had a lot

5:10

of very smart women in very responsible

5:12

positions. And he will continue

5:14

to do that. So,

5:16

there's no evidence to

5:19

support Mark Cuban's statement there. You

5:22

think Kamala Harris and Tim Walz, to a

5:24

lesser degree, are really unhappy that Joe Biden

5:26

keeps opening his mouth? The other day, he

5:28

literally said, you're garbage, I'm garbage. Anybody who

5:30

supports Trump is garbage. And then the White

5:32

House, the official White House readout just lied.

5:34

They changed it and they added an apostrophe

5:36

and it was about one person. He literally

5:38

called us all garbage the other day. You

5:40

think they're asking him, Joe, could you just

5:42

relax for a few days and stay away

5:44

from a camera? Well, the

5:46

bigger story is what you just said. That

5:49

is their attempt to cover this up. That

5:52

tells you just how dishonest these people

5:54

are. And if they're covering that

5:56

up, what else are they covering up? And

5:59

I hope the people... People are starting

6:01

to recognize that there are a group

6:03

of people who play them for

6:05

fools and think that they can say

6:07

anything and that the people will accept it. But

6:09

we, the American people, are a lot smarter

6:12

than that. I hope. Well,

6:14

I hope. I think we are. I see a

6:16

lot of people waking up and they're not going

6:18

to fall for the yokey-dokey, as Kamala Harris would

6:20

say. Dr. Ben Carson, common sense with drbencarson.com, check

6:22

out the podcast. Former HUD secretary, let's

6:24

talk about HUD. Let's talk

6:26

about housing, period. Kamala Harris has said a

6:28

couple of really weird things. Number one, she's

6:30

somehow going to build 3 million houses. Don't

6:32

know how she's doing it, but she's going

6:34

to build 3 million, Ben. Number

6:37

two, going to give people $25,000 if it's the

6:39

first time they're buying a house, don't know where

6:41

the money's coming from. She's going to hand them a

6:43

check, I guess, as if that's not going to push

6:45

the market up. You were

6:47

in that job of building housing,

6:49

making sure there were partnerships between

6:52

private and government entities to revitalize

6:55

areas. What was it called,

6:57

the zones that you had, not enterprise zones? Opportunity

6:59

zones. Opportunity zones really, really worked well. Very,

7:02

very smart, making those in the community inject

7:04

their own money and invest in a better

7:07

community. What she's saying is just, I'm going to hand you a bunch of

7:09

money. Can she do what she's saying? Well,

7:12

first of all, it has to be approved by Congress, so

7:14

that's not going to happen. But

7:16

secondly, I wonder if she understands anything

7:18

about the supply and

7:20

demand. There's not

7:22

a great supply, but there's a great demand. So

7:24

if you throw $25,000 out there, guess what? The

7:28

price is going to go up for $25,000. Exactly

7:31

right. Nothing else useful

7:33

is going to happen. As far as her

7:36

magically producing 3 million

7:39

houses, good luck with that. That's

7:41

just not going to happen. That's

7:43

much more difficult and complex thing. But

7:46

that side doesn't seem to understand

7:48

domino effects. How one thing affects

7:51

the next thing. They just

7:53

think you can declare something and

7:55

it will happen. And again,

7:57

all we have

7:59

to do is run. look back on history, you

8:01

mentioned the opportunity zones, we were able

8:03

through that program to lift hundreds of

8:06

thousands of people out of poverty. And

8:09

you maintain an interest in those areas

8:11

by having a private sector invest in

8:13

them because they want to

8:15

make sure that their investment produces.

8:19

So they stay involved in the situation.

8:22

There have been so many government programs

8:24

where there's a lot of hoopla, a

8:26

big ribbon-cutting festival and then everything kind

8:28

of just fades away and nobody pays

8:30

any attention to it in a few

8:32

years. It's a mess again. That's

8:35

what we don't want. When we

8:38

really, it's Dr. Ben Carson by the way, check out

8:40

Common Sense with Dr. Ben Carson. It's a great new

8:42

podcast. When we were introduced

8:44

to Barack Obama, it was 2004 at the DNC. He

8:48

was young, energetic, great communicator and he

8:50

said all for one and one for

8:52

all. He said, unity not division.

8:54

He said, I'm my brother's keeper, which is sort

8:56

of a Marxist thing to say. It was kind

8:59

of interesting, but he does say things that made

9:01

people go, wow, this guy wants to include everybody.

9:03

This is wonderful and the rising tides and the

9:05

magic is going to happen and so on and

9:07

so forth. And then for eight years, he

9:10

was the most divisive president we've had since like, you know, the

9:12

1910s. It was unbelievable

9:14

how every single time he could, he made

9:16

identity politics about it, whether it was Trayvon

9:18

Martin or it was Michael Brown. No matter

9:20

what it was, he was taking the side

9:23

or his buddy Skip Gates. He was taking

9:25

the side of somebody who had an immutable

9:27

characteristic that he wanted to identify with. And

9:29

that bothered me because you and I aren't

9:31

like that. You and I are really all

9:34

for one, one for all. As you all

9:36

often say, a rising tide lifts all boats.

9:39

So Obama got in by pretending he was

9:41

somebody he wasn't. Lately

9:43

Ben, he showed who he really is. In

9:46

front of a group of men, either in Pittsburgh

9:48

or Philadelphia, a group of black men, he basically

9:50

shamed them, making weird faces like you're not going

9:52

to vote for her. You're going to vote for

9:54

him. The guy that doesn't like you. Has

9:56

he overplayed his hand, Ben? Because those guys, I think,

9:59

left that meeting saying. You don't tell me who to

10:01

vote for because I'm black. Well,

10:03

I've been very enthusiastic and proud of

10:05

a lot of the young black

10:08

men who are starting to think

10:10

for themselves. And I've started to

10:13

think for the good of their communities. What

10:15

have you done for me? And

10:18

they look back at the Trump administration

10:20

and they see a lot of things.

10:22

Yes. That were done. And

10:24

they look at the traditional Democrats and they

10:27

see very little that was done. And

10:29

yet you have them going around

10:32

and saying, if you

10:34

don't vote for me, you're not black. What

10:36

is that? That's

10:38

crap. That's what it is. Yes. We knew

10:40

about that in high school when

10:42

people wouldn't say anything because

10:45

they didn't want to be an outcast. Everybody

10:47

wanted to be one of the cool people.

10:49

And they allowed some of the good kids to

10:52

be picked on by bullies because

10:54

they didn't want to be outcast. It's the

10:56

same kind of mentality that

10:58

group heard mentality. It's time to abandon

11:00

that. And it's time for us to

11:03

start thinking about the common

11:05

good. That was a phrase

11:07

that was used by our founders frequently,

11:09

the common good. And it was one

11:11

of the things that helped our country

11:13

to rise

11:16

so quickly. You had neighborhoods with

11:18

people from all different countries who

11:20

spoke different languages, but they understood

11:22

that concept and they worked together.

11:24

And if it was harvest time

11:26

and Mr. Johnson broke his leg,

11:28

everybody else harvested his crops. They

11:30

didn't ask what his religious preference

11:32

was or what his political preference was. They

11:35

said he's my neighbor and he needs help.

11:37

And we need to start thinking about the

11:40

common good again. Stop all this divisiveness. And

11:42

I've said it many times as a nerve

11:44

surgeon, when I went to the operating room

11:46

and I opened someone's head, I couldn't

11:50

tell what color they were, ethnicity

11:52

was, operating on the thing

11:55

that makes them who they are. It's their brain.

11:57

It's not their skin color. It's not their hair texture.

11:59

It's not the shape of their nose. And

12:02

we need to stop focusing on superficial characteristics

12:04

of which people have no control and start

12:06

thinking about who they are as people. Well,

12:08

they've been successful at it for so long

12:10

though, but the hubris and the arrogance that

12:12

he showed that day, a guy

12:14

who just left one of his three

12:17

multimillion dollar mansions, either in Hawaii, Washington

12:19

DC, or somewhere in Chicago, wherever the

12:21

hell, no, Martha's Vineyard. Right,

12:23

exactly right. So he leaves one of his

12:25

multimillion dollar mansions to go and tell black

12:27

people at like a barbershop in Pittsburgh or

12:29

Philadelphia, you better do what I say do.

12:32

At that moment, Ben, I think for many people,

12:34

you and I have known this for a long

12:36

time, but at that moment, he became

12:38

the plantation owner in my mind.

12:41

He was telling them, you will do as I say, because

12:43

I tell you what to do. And

12:45

I don't care who you are, no matter what, I'm an

12:47

Italian guy. You don't tell me that. You're a

12:49

black guy. You don't tell you that. I mean,

12:51

somebody looks you in the face and says, you will do as

12:54

I say and not question me. I

12:56

think that's beyond the point. At that point,

12:58

I think he broke whatever trust that he

13:00

had with them. Am I misreading it? You're

13:03

not misreading it and you're understanding one of

13:05

the key principles of Marxism

13:08

is to divide and conquer. And

13:11

that's whenever they try to change

13:13

a society from freedom to

13:16

Marxism or socialism, they divide

13:18

the components that they can

13:20

control. And that way they

13:22

can keep them at each other's throats. This

13:25

was something that was traditionally done in the black

13:28

community because in the

13:30

slave states, there were frequently

13:32

more slaves than there were owners. And

13:34

you kept the slaves divided by telling the ones in the

13:36

house that they were better than the ones in the yard.

13:39

And the one that they were better than the ones in

13:41

the field. And then after slavery

13:43

was over the light skin, when you're better than the

13:45

medium skin, once you're better than the dark skin. Just

13:49

continue division and identity politics,

13:51

which means nothing in the

13:54

United States of America. Yes,

13:57

I couldn't agree more. It's Dr. Ben Carson. Common

13:59

sense with drbencarson.com. Check out the podcast. The latest

14:01

book is called The Perilous Fight. It's available everywhere

14:03

you get books. Quickly on voter ID,

14:05

the left wants me to believe that blacks, Hispanics,

14:08

women, old people, and young people don't know how

14:10

to get an ID. I've never known...

14:12

Look, I went to a predominantly black high school in

14:14

Delray Beach, Florida and everybody, when

14:16

it was time to get their licenses, we all got our

14:18

licenses. Nobody said, oh, I couldn't get one because of where

14:20

I live or because of what my ancestry is. Why

14:23

do they think that's gonna work? I mean, again, you had

14:26

somebody just do a man on the street thing in Harlem, New York

14:28

and every single person he talked to

14:30

had a license. Of course they did. Is it

14:32

the left's plan to make it

14:35

as if Latinos and blacks and others that

14:37

are not considered the majority? Don't

14:39

know how to photocopy something at Kinko's, don't know how

14:41

to get a driver's license, don't know

14:43

how to go and vote on their own. I mean, does

14:45

that still work then in 2024? Unfortunately,

14:48

it does work on some people because they

14:50

try to convince some people that they are

14:52

victims and that somehow if

14:56

you don't have something, it's somebody else's fault.

14:59

When in fact, if you can't get an ID, it's

15:01

your fault because it's easy to get an ID. And

15:03

by the way, in the states where you need ID, it's free. Right,

15:06

and look at all the other countries of the world.

15:08

I don't know of any place that allows you to

15:10

vote without identification. It's just

15:13

stupid. But California passed a law that you

15:15

can't ask for an ID. It's

15:17

against the law to ask for it now. Yeah,

15:19

well, we see what's happening to California. That's

15:21

true. That's a very good point. It is

15:23

Dr. Ben Carson. Okay, so he wins Tuesday.

15:26

I hope, I pray. Everybody watching and listening

15:28

needs to go and vote. Do not assume

15:30

anything. Pretend he's down by 10. But he

15:32

wins on Tuesday. Ben, are they gonna seat

15:34

this guy? They're gonna try to convict him

15:36

and put him in prison, I think, on

15:38

the 18th. Jamie Raskin in

15:40

the House says, we're gonna call the 14th

15:42

Amendment and not allow him to take the

15:45

office because he's an insurrectionist. And then Kamala

15:47

Harris is the last one on January 6th.

15:49

She has to certify it if she loses.

15:51

What do you think is gonna happen? I

15:53

think they're gonna do everything they can to

15:55

disrupt and to prevent

15:58

him from having a seat. But

16:00

I don't believe it's going to work. I

16:03

think there are enough people who

16:05

have integrity, who will see what

16:08

they're doing, even on their own side, who

16:10

will abandon them. And that

16:12

the adults in the room will actually

16:14

get a chance to really make this

16:16

country what it should be. He's

16:19

got a win though by massive numbers. No, I think that if

16:21

it's too, what does he say,

16:23

too big to rig? We say swamp the vote,

16:25

make sure you bank your vote. I voted early

16:27

for the first time in a very long time,

16:30

and I'm a conservative guy. And we generally wait

16:32

until election day. But if he wins by a

16:34

large enough margin, they almost can't do anything, right?

16:37

No, they can't. And we've had so many, particularly

16:40

evangelical Christians who haven't voted.

16:42

20 million didn't vote in 2020. Think

16:46

about that. You could easily control the direction

16:48

of the country. You don't have

16:50

to sit around and complain. We need

16:52

to get involved. And we need to

16:54

remember that this is one nation under

16:57

God. Don't throw away our

16:59

faith, because as we've thrown away our

17:01

faith and our values and our morals,

17:03

look what's happened to us. It's not good.

17:07

I couldn't agree more. Ben, before I let you go,

17:09

give me 30 seconds on the children's book series, if

17:11

you don't mind. Well, the children's

17:13

book series is progressing very nicely. It's

17:16

infiltrating a lot of schools all over

17:18

the country and reading rooms all over

17:20

the country. Basically, we're

17:22

giving our children our values, the

17:24

things that made us into a

17:26

great country, but in a

17:28

way that's understandable for them and fun

17:30

for them. The

17:33

name of the series again? Little

17:35

Patriots. Little Patriots Learning. Look up Little

17:37

Patriots Learning. Go to commonsensewithdrbencarson.com. Thank you

17:39

for always making time. It's an honor,

17:41

doctor. Thank you. Thanks, Joe, for being

17:43

a patriot. All right, brother, we're back after this. Stay right here.

17:49

This is the Joe Pag Show.
