Hey friends, it's your pal Mike Shea

0:02

from Sly Flurs. Here with another episode

0:04

of Sly Flurs is Lazy GM Prep

0:06

in this weekly show. I go through

0:08

steps from Return of the Lazy Dungeon

0:10

Master while preparing for my Sunday role-playing

0:12

game. In this case, I am running

0:15

a Tales of the Valiant game set

0:17

in the world of Midgarde called Scurge

0:19

of the Dragon Empire. This show is

0:21

brought to you by the patrons of

0:23

Sly Flurs. Patrons get access to all

0:25

kinds of cool stuff. On the Slyfler's

0:27

Patreon, we have the Slyfler's Patreon Q&A.

0:29

It's up every quarter. I answer questions

0:32

every Friday. I talk some of them

0:34

on our talk show, and I actually

0:36

have a database that contains thousands of

0:38

questions from the Q&A, and you can

0:40

do a search for like Midgard. And

0:42

it gives you questions from people that are

0:44

running mid-garde. Somebody said, Empire the Gools.

0:47

So you're like, hey, do we have

0:49

other, did other people ask questions about

0:51

Empire the Gools? You can search that.

0:53

This is a downloadable database of all

0:55

of the questions and answers that have

0:57

ever been given on the Slyfler's Patreon.

0:59

except for the last quarter because I

1:01

haven't done those yet. I do them

1:03

every other time. But it is a

1:05

fantastic way to see the other questions

1:08

that people have written in. And this

1:10

is a tool available to patrons of

1:12

Sly Flirch. It is downloadable. You can

1:14

downloadable. You can download your own

1:16

local copy of this whole thing.

1:18

You can download your own local

1:20

copy of this whole thing so

1:22

you can download your own local

1:24

copy of this whole thing so

1:26

you can run the Random. all

1:28

different kinds of tools that you

1:31

can get for being a patron

1:33

of Sly Flurish, to the patrons

1:35

of Sly Flurish. Thank you so

1:37

much for your outstanding support. So,

1:39

in our Midgard game, the characters

1:42

are on their way to an

1:44

obsidian keep, the obsidian keep of

1:46

Ball, the Dragon God Ball. They

1:49

have made their way through the

1:51

mountains. They fought. Were they Yetis?

1:54

No, they fought winter wolves

1:56

that attacked a nearby caravan.

1:58

If you recall, I... created

2:00

sort of a scenario where dragon

2:02

folk that were bringing treasure to

2:05

the obsidian keep that they're to

2:07

where they're headed got attacked by

2:09

winter wolves who were also followers

2:11

of the pale mother thus kind

2:13

of tied to the ghostwalkers. And

2:15

the characters decided to go ahead and let the

2:18

battle play out. So all of the Dragon Folk

2:20

were killed, which was fine. I even had like

2:22

Dragon Folk MPCs, I could teach him stuff, but

2:24

they were dead, so it's fine. And that was

2:26

like, it's fine. It's fine. It's fine. That went

2:28

that way. It didn't have to go any particular

2:30

way. And then the characters made

2:33

it to the keep itself. They

2:35

found a secret entrance in the

2:37

bottom of the keep and they're

2:39

headed into that secret entrance below

2:41

the keep to get into the

2:44

obsidian keep. Their goal in infiltrating

2:46

the keep, a goal that I

2:48

must continually reinforce with the

2:50

players to make sure that they understand

2:52

the goal, is to prevent the treasury

2:55

of Nurdarin because it will

2:57

finance. the mercenary company known as

2:59

the Sharpened coin and finance the

3:02

supply lines for the conscripted soldiers

3:04

that are headed to the Northwest.

3:06

So we're gonna have an interesting, it's

3:09

a fun scenario. This is one

3:11

of my like favorite types of

3:13

scenarios to kind of prep for

3:15

and run because they're very open-ended.

3:17

You kind of like set all

3:19

the pieces in play. It's really

3:21

that big sandboxy. kind of play,

3:23

that pool table kind of play,

3:25

where the character, you just set

3:27

up the situation and you set

3:29

up a goal and you throw

3:31

the characters in, you see where

3:33

it goes, and you have no idea

3:35

where it's really gonna go. I really

3:37

love that, and we're gonna work on

3:39

it today. So we are gonna do our

3:41

game prep today in Obsidian,

3:44

doing a quick look from our

3:46

last session. This is the wrong one.

3:48

Dragon Empire, session notes. There

3:50

we go. We had four players last time bradic

3:52

grim shows off the wares of the dragon empire

3:55

They did that they I think they picked up

3:57

a couple of items from it. There was a

3:59

lot of discussions So it's kind of

4:01

interesting that Brady at Grimm is

4:03

their fence, right? Their fence slash

4:06

mule. This is the guy who

4:08

is transferring illicit gold and

4:10

treasure and magic items from

4:13

the Dragon Empire to Nurea

4:15

Natal and then back again.

4:17

And they discovered that so it's they

4:19

are breaking into an illicit transfer because

4:22

it is illegal to transfer magic items

4:24

from Nurea Natal. from the dragon empire

4:26

to Nurean at all, but the dragons

4:29

are doing it, or at least one

4:31

dragon is doing it anyway. I think

4:33

they recognize that it is Iblin the

4:35

illustrious who is doing the smuggling of

4:38

the goods, and Iblin is trying to

4:40

make it look like it's parses the

4:42

hidden, but parses the hidden is super

4:44

smart and probably is getting away with

4:47

it. So I did reveal a lot

4:49

of secrets. And then they had

4:51

the treasury about the stuff that

4:53

they could kind of take, the

4:55

potions, the dust at disappearance, the

4:58

medallion of thoughts, ahead of disguise.

5:00

They did end up going with

5:02

the cloak of elvenkind. And there

5:04

was a lot of conversation about

5:06

like, well, can we just take

5:09

it? Can we just take it?

5:11

Can we just take it? Do

5:13

we have to put stuff in?

5:15

That's as valuable. in and out.

5:17

And so they did throw some magic items

5:20

in and then took some other magic

5:22

items out, which is kind of how

5:24

it works. And then they have kind

5:26

of a communication stone that they can

5:28

use with Brady Grim to sort of

5:31

catch up with him at different spots

5:33

in order to pick up new goods

5:35

and things elsewise. So that worked out

5:37

pretty well. And then the characters made

5:39

it to Black Spire, which is the

5:42

obsidian Keep of Ball. and they are

5:44

beginning their trek in there. So that

5:46

is what we are going to be

5:48

prepping today. We're going to create some

5:50

new session notes from a template, and

5:52

this is my Dragon Empire template. We

5:54

have a full house today, so Emred

5:56

is not going to be there. Emred

5:58

is our on call. our own call

6:01

player and character, and Emert, because

6:03

we have all six of everybody

6:05

else, that we do not have

6:08

a room, unfortunately, for Emert. But

6:10

we do have the characters, and

6:13

I'm going to think about what

6:15

is a secret. So when we're

6:17

thinking about the characters, it's kind

6:19

of like, what secret might they

6:22

know about in this place? Is

6:24

there a magic item that they

6:26

want? I know Gaoudenzia. Once a

6:29

magic crossbow. So I think

6:31

we definitely want to put

6:33

a magic crossbow in

6:35

the loot today. We'll figure

6:38

that out. And I don't

6:40

think Odensia has had a

6:42

powerful, a real solid magic

6:44

item recently. Amavan is the

6:47

rogue who just picked up

6:49

a cloak, the elven cloak

6:52

of elven kind. What

6:54

would Amavan know? Probably

6:57

that spies of Parsis

6:59

are in the, are

7:01

in Blackspire. Cal, I think

7:04

one of the captains of

7:06

Blackspire was

7:08

there when she lost her

7:11

vineyard. We'll, we'll figure

7:13

out who. Matayo, what

7:15

can Matayo, so Matayo,

7:18

so Matayo is the

7:20

mechanist, what can Matayo,

7:23

what can Matayo, figure

7:26

out. Moving so much

7:28

gold could be a

7:30

huge problem. Rowan

7:33

understands the needs

7:35

of supply lines

7:37

to keep the troops

7:40

functional. Tolstoy

7:42

can call Catel

7:44

of Mott to open a

7:47

portal to dump the

7:49

gold to dump the

7:51

gold to dump the

7:53

gold. We'll talk

7:55

about that in a little bit.

7:58

So let's see a strong start,

8:00

a strong start could

8:02

be a, so do they have,

8:04

I'm trying to think about

8:06

like, so they have, would

8:09

they have flying, flying

8:11

mounts that they use to

8:13

kind of scout over this?

8:15

They might, because this is,

8:17

it's very, very, so we

8:19

can have a wvern, a

8:22

wvern mounted night flies

8:24

overhead, I think would be

8:26

a good. you know, a

8:28

good strong start that, you

8:30

know, they're in the process of

8:33

making in their way. They all

8:35

have to hide and they, you know,

8:37

they all have to hide from the

8:40

Wiven Mount. Because I think

8:42

it's important, like, you

8:44

know, so they don't have a

8:46

ton of people at this place,

8:48

but they do have people here

8:50

who are... powerful and trustworthy because

8:53

it's a ton of money that they're

8:55

holding at this place. They just, you

8:57

know, they don't want to have a

8:59

lot of people involved, but they

9:01

don't want to have a lot of

9:03

people involved because things can you figure

9:05

it out, but the people they have

9:08

here have to be pretty trustworthy and

9:10

pretty capable. So the idea that there's

9:12

like a mounted night flying over top,

9:14

who's kind of like, you know, scouting

9:16

the area below, I think that that could

9:19

be important. Let us harvest some secrets

9:21

and clues from last session's game.

9:23

Let's see if there's anything we

9:25

want to take from here. We already

9:27

learned that Iblin the illustrious is

9:30

smuggling goods through Ashadar. Yes, illegal

9:32

to trade magic items. Yes, we know

9:34

that Iblin is incredibly vain and thinks

9:36

himself smarter than the other dragons. Yes.

9:39

If goods are being smuggled through

9:41

Batek, it's unlikely it has escaped to

9:43

watch vives of parsis. Yes. Parsis

9:45

runs a very powerful spy network led

9:47

by the spymaster Cavizier Elleski, known as

9:49

the Hidden Eye. A shadow road exists

9:52

between Nurdr and Nashadar called The Scholars

9:54

Path. It's heavily guarded and watched by

9:56

agents of both Parsis and Ibalin. That

9:59

would be... a useful one, so we

10:01

will put that in today's notes, that

10:03

there is actually a shadow road here.

10:05

And then we can think about like,

10:08

what's the monument of the shadow

10:10

road? So, fantastic location.

10:12

What monument exists in or

10:14

around the keep that leads to the

10:16

shadow road to the scholar's path? That's

10:19

something we want to fill out. A

10:22

scholar's path is used to transfer

10:24

gold between Ashadar and Nurdern for

10:26

the effort in the Northwest. Yes,

10:28

Ibelin, the Augustus, is heavily engaged

10:30

in the current holding of Kipriyan

10:32

and Rhemela, taken from the seven

10:34

cities the battles of Uncostly. We've

10:36

been passing that secret along, but

10:38

that one's really important today, so

10:40

we're going to throw that in

10:42

there. Parsis is supposed to fund

10:44

the supply lines of the Sharpen

10:47

coin mercenaries Bivouact. is

10:49

supposed to fund the supply,

10:51

no, let's see, Parsus is

10:54

supposed to fund and is

10:56

funding, right? Both, so I

10:58

think that's the secret,

11:00

like Ibilin, Parsus,

11:02

and all fund the sharpened

11:05

coin, the sharpened coin

11:07

mercenaries, and fund the

11:10

supply lines of the conscript,

11:12

the conscripted

11:15

army being sent. to

11:18

Cripciprian and Rumella.

11:20

Evelyn Parsons and

11:22

Addisha all fund the

11:24

sharpened coin mercenaries and fund

11:26

the supply lines of the

11:29

consc- all fund and the

11:31

supply lines of the conscripted

11:33

army being sent to Crippian

11:36

and Rumella. Yeah, so that's,

11:38

so part of the idea

11:40

is like the other six

11:43

morza fund their own armies.

11:46

from their own treasuries. Right, so

11:48

this is, this one treasury is

11:50

funding this section of army that's,

11:52

you know, controlled by these three

11:54

morza of the nine morza. The

11:56

other, the other six are coming

11:58

from other directions. The expansion

12:01

of the Dragon Empire

12:04

has stretched thin,

12:06

has stretched the Empire

12:08

thin. I think that that's

12:10

an important weakness.

12:13

Other specific ones,

12:15

we can have some

12:18

information about ball, the

12:20

Dragon, the Dragon Lord.

12:22

So if we go

12:24

to deities here, Dragon

12:27

Gods. This is in

12:29

the Midgard World Book. And

12:31

we have Baw, Lord of

12:34

Fire, and Master of Noble

12:36

Sacrifice. I like, I like all

12:38

these. Guardian of the Sultan,

12:41

Lord of Soldiers,

12:43

Scarlet Protector of

12:45

the Innocent, the Supreme

12:47

Fire Dragon, the patron

12:50

of the Dragon, patron

12:52

of the Empire and Dragonkin,

12:55

martyrdom, martyrdom,

12:57

is his. All his worshipers

13:00

make sacrifices of gold

13:02

and jewels. And most of

13:04

all, the Sultan, who is

13:07

believed to be under Ball's

13:09

special protection. Symbols are

13:11

a horned dragonhead and

13:13

a leaping flame. Whoops. So

13:15

this helps me with a

13:17

major problem, which will come

13:19

to, but I'm going to

13:21

add it to my fantastic

13:23

location of Fire Forge of

13:25

Ball. is going to

13:28

be one of the areas

13:30

that exists inside of this.

13:32

And there's a reason for

13:35

that, because they may

13:37

make the sacrifice themselves.

13:40

Cool, NPCs. Who do we have?

13:42

So we can now move this

13:44

NPC who died, so I never

13:47

introduced them, which means

13:49

I can move the NPC in

13:51

charge of watching over the

13:54

Treasuries of Black Spire.

13:56

So we have like one person, but I

13:58

think there is a. So I want

14:00

to have, yeah, here we go,

14:03

Sunray. Here are two other MPCs. Yeah,

14:05

those are two other MPCs. And

14:08

then monsters, I had, I

14:10

already picked some out, but they

14:12

have to have some priests. So

14:14

I had, I think they might

14:16

have more than this. Six

14:19

veterans and two spies of

14:21

Parsis. Twelve veterans. Yeah, okay,

14:23

so I have Parsis in

14:26

Ibalin. We have a single

14:28

whivern mount. named

14:30

Death Sting. You know, we don't

14:33

have to get too fancy with

14:35

the names. We have, and

14:37

we need some priests, right?

14:39

Six cult fanatics of ball.

14:41

Is that right? Wait, wait,

14:43

wait, wait, six cult

14:45

fanatics, four cult fanics. Do

14:48

we have priests? Let's see, let's

14:50

go to, whoops, oh, I did

14:52

not mean to do that. So

14:55

let's see, we go to NPC's. Let's

14:57

take a look at the priest

14:59

NPC, NPC's. I don't know

15:01

if they have high priests. They

15:04

have an arch druid. But that's

15:06

a CR12, that's too high.

15:08

We have archmages,

15:10

also CR12. I like the cult

15:13

fanatics a lot. We have

15:15

knights, so let's see. We

15:18

will have nine veterans. I

15:20

think that's probably a

15:22

lot of veterans. Three

15:24

knights. Two knights. So there's

15:27

a priest, let's look at the

15:29

pre-step block here and see if

15:31

we like a better than a

15:33

cult fanatic. 57 hit points, resisting

15:36

necrotic or radiant damage, divine

15:38

weapons, 2D6 or necrotic or radiant

15:40

damage, or, you know, you could

15:42

change it to anything else, change

15:44

it to fire, because they're a

15:47

pre-subal. Priest makes two mace

15:49

or divine bolts. Pretty straightforward, the

15:51

mace, let's a fiery mace, would

15:53

do four plus seven fire.

15:55

Only plus three to hit,

15:58

it's pretty low. divine

16:00

bolts are 20 which is high as

16:02

CR for a CR2 but the cult

16:04

fanatic let's just look at the cult

16:07

fanatic it's funny cuz like what's their

16:09

junior priest in a cult fanatic has

16:11

unholy weapons as also CR2

16:13

60 hit points has sacrificial dagger

16:15

and unholy bolts but has that

16:18

unholy brand I don't think the

16:20

priest has anything like that so

16:22

I think we'll do priests why

16:24

not they're nice and straightforward I

16:27

don't like that the pre-step

16:29

block is spread across two

16:31

pages. That kind of sucks. I'd

16:33

rather get rid of that art

16:35

and have the two pages,

16:37

but whatever. They can cast

16:39

bane, blast, cure wounds, dispel

16:42

magic, restoration. That's kind

16:44

of interesting. I'm probably

16:47

going to up that attack bonus

16:49

because it feels like plus

16:51

three is pretty low. So priests,

16:53

how do I say? Four priests. of

16:55

ball. And the priests are

16:58

on page three sixty nine.

17:00

I'm not gonna put the

17:02

page numbers down for all

17:05

these guys. It's gonna take

17:07

forever. Let's see. So we're

17:10

gonna dive into the locations

17:12

a lot. I don't think

17:14

I have my 10 secrets.

17:17

Two, four, six, seven. So

17:19

what was this? What was

17:21

the obsidian? Let's see,

17:24

I think the

17:26

obsidian, so Blackspire,

17:29

has always been

17:31

a shrine to ball. Ball

17:34

light, and ball following

17:37

nights were interred

17:39

below. And those would

17:41

be the whites. A ball,

17:43

ball worshiping, white,

17:46

or wraith. hates

17:49

that no sacrifice

17:52

has been given

17:54

to Ball in a

17:57

long time, and sees

17:59

the dragons above

18:01

as heretics who

18:04

forgot who they worship.

18:06

That's fun. So I think

18:08

that's nine secrets,

18:10

two, four, six, seven,

18:13

eight, nine. So I

18:15

have one secret remaining.

18:17

What else could they learn

18:20

about this place? A

18:22

well exists in the

18:25

keep that leads down

18:27

to caverns deep. that

18:29

rhymes in which the

18:31

cavern's deep, it has

18:33

been barred since creepy,

18:36

crawling ghostwalkers

18:39

have come up and

18:41

murdered the dragon, the

18:44

dragonkin. Yeah, okay, so

18:46

that's cool. Let's jump

18:49

to treasure real quick

18:51

and treasure is going

18:53

to be a little

18:55

different. So this place

18:57

now has most of

19:00

the money it needs

19:02

to fund the mercenary

19:04

company of the, the,

19:07

the, the, the sharpened

19:09

coin. So let's see,

19:11

Nurena, or I'm not

19:13

Nureka, Nurdren,

19:15

hosts, 5,000

19:17

mercenaries, of the

19:20

sharpened coin, and 15,000.

19:22

Is it that many?

19:24

Is it that many? It's

19:27

a lot and 15,000

19:29

conscripts, an army of 20,000. So

19:31

if you were going to fund

19:33

5,000 mercenaries, assuming two

19:36

gold pieces per day per

19:38

skilled laborer and a mercenary would

19:40

probably be a skilled laborer, they

19:43

might even cost more. Let's say

19:45

they cost three gold pieces a

19:47

day, but then you also needed

19:50

a gold piece a day. I

19:52

guess which would be obsidian.

19:54

Thank you. Let's say you

19:57

had three gold pieces a

19:59

day. per mercenary and

20:01

you wanted to

20:03

fund them for

20:05

how long? Three months,

20:07

so you have 5,000

20:10

times three gold pieces

20:12

a day for 90

20:15

days would be one

20:17

million three hundred and

20:20

fifty thousand gold.

20:22

That's a lot of

20:24

gold, right? And then

20:26

you have... Then you

20:29

need the conscripts.

20:31

Now, I don't know if

20:34

it's in here. Is there

20:36

like a, how much it

20:39

costs to live? So services,

20:42

a skilled hiring.

20:44

is two gold pieces a day.

20:46

So we could probably lower,

20:49

the mercenaries are probably two,

20:51

yeah, it even says, skilled

20:53

hirelings come to the proficiency,

20:55

mercenary art is inscribed would

20:57

be skilled. So we're gonna cut that

20:59

down. So let's say it's two gold

21:01

pieces per day, 900,000 gold, just to

21:03

pay them. But it probably

21:06

includes food too, food to drink

21:08

and lodging, and like armor

21:10

and upkeep and everything else.

21:12

would probably be another,

21:14

an additional gold. So

21:16

we're gonna say, yeah, so

21:19

1,350,000 gold, and that's just

21:21

for the mercenaries. And

21:23

then for the conscripts,

21:26

15,000 conscripts, but you could

21:28

probably get away with like

21:30

five silver a day in

21:33

food and upkeep. They don't

21:35

treat them very well. So

21:38

that's 15,000 times point

21:40

five times. 90, an

21:42

additional 675. So

21:44

there's probably, you know,

21:47

closing in on 2

21:49

million gold in the

21:51

treasury. How would that be

21:53

split up? So weight

21:56

wise, we've determined,

21:58

I think it says. here,

22:00

I think it says right

22:02

in the beginning of this

22:04

section, because we looked it

22:06

up. And I made some rules

22:09

about it. 50 gold pieces

22:11

weighs one pound. And if

22:13

the gold is being, if

22:15

the gold is being transported

22:18

as bars, as well as coins,

22:20

the bars would weigh the

22:22

same amount. So there's,

22:25

let's see, 675

22:27

plus 1350,000 is

22:30

2,025,000. 2,250,000 divided

22:33

by 50. So that's 40,000

22:35

pounds of gold.

22:38

40,500 pounds. The

22:40

bars, so one question

22:42

about this is

22:44

like, well, okay,

22:46

so the mercenaries,

22:48

they have to pay

22:51

in coin. because the

22:53

mercenaries get paid in

22:55

coin. So there is

22:58

probably that 1,350,000 gold

23:01

pieces is probably

23:03

in coin. The

23:05

remaining 675 gold

23:07

pieces could be done

23:09

in bars. You could have

23:11

10 pound gold bars.

23:13

A 10 pound gold

23:16

bar would be 500

23:18

gold, would be 1,350.

23:20

gold bars and they're

23:23

worth 500 gold each, right?

23:25

Yeah, one pound bar would

23:27

be 50 gold. I think

23:29

they're right, 675. And

23:31

the reason why is

23:33

when they're funding food,

23:36

and so why can't you

23:38

pay the mercenaries and

23:40

bars? Because. The mercenaries,

23:42

you're paying the mercenaries individually. They're

23:44

each getting their money and you

23:46

don't want to pay them all

23:49

at once because then they'll just

23:51

run off. So you actually are

23:53

probably, what's probably happening is the

23:55

leaders of the mercenary company are

23:57

paid in coins and they pay out

23:59

like. every couple of weeks or whatever

24:02

to the mercenaries themselves, but they need

24:04

it. There's no place along this journey

24:06

for them to transfer the gold into

24:08

other formats, right? So they need to

24:11

have it in pure coin. And the

24:13

reason it's all being kept here is

24:15

so that they can slowly move it

24:18

up and not move all the money

24:20

at once. But the treasury has it

24:22

all. So there needs to be liquid

24:25

coin. But then for the supplies. and

24:27

all the supplies that they need, they

24:29

need a lot of supplies, a lot

24:32

of grain, a lot of food, a

24:34

lot of, you know, all the stuff

24:36

that they need to keep the conscripts

24:39

alive, that they can pay for in

24:41

gold bars, which is an easier way

24:43

to transfer these because they can pay

24:46

a mercantile group or a, you know,

24:48

they can pay, you know, farming mogels.

24:50

They can pay them at once like,

24:53

hey, we're gonna give you 500, you

24:55

know, two bars, a thousand gold, but

24:57

we're gonna eat enough food to feed

25:00

us for, you know, two weeks or

25:02

whatever. So that's there. I think we

25:04

will throw, then there's the stuff that

25:07

they actually pay the elite with. So

25:09

for that, we're gonna go to, we're

25:11

gonna load a random generator. I actually

25:14

have a new random generator that's just

25:16

for Tales of the Valiant. So we're

25:18

going to do that, but this is

25:21

going to be a 5 to 10

25:23

roll. I like this. I don't know

25:25

what the hell good feather tokens are,

25:28

but we're going to add this. We

25:30

don't need the coin, but we're going

25:32

to have the bloodstones. The haunted natural

25:35

glass eyeball is fun. The ancient ethereal

25:37

taxidermy beast statue is fun. We'll get

25:39

rid of the taxidermy. The beast buckle

25:42

is a common item. I don't know

25:44

what that is. Potion of

25:46

clairvoyance. Let's see. Beast buckle

25:49

is a common. The burn

25:51

spress buckle is shaped like

25:53

a heavily musseled bison while

25:55

a tune to your hit

25:57

points and hit point maximum

25:59

increase by five. Oh, but

26:01

it's. requires a tunement, that's

26:03

cool, but it'll be a

26:06

dragon buckle. So it's a

26:08

common magic item, feather token.

26:10

So tiny object looks like

26:12

a feather, different types exist,

26:14

each with different, single use

26:16

to determine the feather, or

26:18

a swan boat, a tr-

26:20

oh, anchor, bird, fan, swan

26:22

boat, tree, or whip. So

26:25

you can make a boat,

26:27

that boat doesn't seem particularly

26:29

useful. That's cool, it can

26:31

carry 500 pounds. This is

26:33

kind of cool. So the

26:35

feather token, bird. And then

26:37

we're going to have a

26:39

magic crossbow. So let's go

26:41

back to my generator here.

26:44

But this time we're going

26:46

to switch to my generator

26:48

because my generator has kind

26:50

of more options here. Item,

26:52

we'll do a mid-guard campaign

26:54

setting. We'll do the Southlands

26:56

campaign setting. Spell source, we'll

26:58

do a level up advanced

27:01

5B, but we can change

27:03

it. Horace the Skylord. That

27:05

sounds fun. Vampiric Touch. Well

27:07

if it's a Skylord, master

27:09

the Sun and Moon in

27:11

Heaven's the Desert Falcon. So

27:13

let's see, Magic Crossbow, they're

27:15

in Tier 2, so we'll

27:17

give it a 50-50 shot

27:20

that it's a plus 1

27:22

or plus 2 weapon. It

27:24

is a plus 1. Plus

27:26

1 Magic Crossbow. that is

27:28

of Horace the Skylord, and

27:30

it can cast fly once

27:32

a day. Right, so once

27:34

a day you can cast

27:36

the spell fly, and you

27:39

can fly around, because it's,

27:41

let's see, the vigilant of

27:43

Phoenix God. Could it do

27:45

a fire thing too? Master

27:47

of Sun, the moon and

27:49

the heavens, the Desert Falcon,

27:51

Prince of Princes, the Majestic

27:53

One, the Chieftain, the Chieftain,

27:55

the vigilant, the Phoenix God,

27:58

the true king, the patron

28:00

of Nurena Natal. Ah, so

28:02

that's kind of cool. It's

28:04

a, it's a, it's a

28:06

Nurena Natal. crossbow that can

28:08

cast fly once a day.

28:10

I think that's probably good.

28:12

I don't think it needs

28:15

to be, I could make

28:17

it a plus two. That

28:19

make it really useful for

28:21

a long time. It could

28:23

be an upgradeable item that,

28:25

you know, I think we'll

28:27

do that. So, so we'll

28:29

call it the crossbow of

28:31

Horace, the Skylord, that can

28:34

cast fly once a day.

28:36

Okay, so this is what

28:38

our treasury looks like. This

28:40

ancient ethereal beast statue will

28:42

be 50 gold pieces. I

28:44

think we're just gonna get

28:46

rid of that. There we

28:48

go. Okay. So this is

28:50

what our treasury looks like.

28:53

There is what our treasury

28:55

looks like. There is 1,350,000

28:57

gold pieces. to

28:59

pay the mercenaries. I don't like the

29:02

fact that there's 1,350 gold bars. Like

29:04

that seems too weird that it's the

29:06

exact same number of gold bars, 675.

29:09

I guess it's right. But we're gonna

29:11

say there's we're gonna lower it. There's

29:13

1,200 gold bars to pay for the

29:16

supply line. And we're gonna put the

29:18

weight here. 27,000 pounds. And the gold

29:20

bars are, I think. 12,000 pounds, let's

29:22

see. Yeah, 12,000 pounds. The rest is

29:25

negligible. There. So that's our treasury. So

29:27

the great fun is they can't carry

29:29

all that gold. This is the tricky

29:32

bit, right? So the tricky bit, but

29:34

I think I've got some options. In

29:36

fact, I think there's four possible options

29:39

of what you can do with the

29:41

gold. They can't carry it. And I

29:43

am sure as hell, I'm not going

29:45

to give them a portable hole or

29:48

something like that. They're going to have

29:50

to. they're going to have to figure

29:52

out how to what to do with

29:55

it and the main thing is they

29:57

got to get rid of it But

29:59

I think there will be four possible

30:01

ways that they can get rid of

30:04

it. They can disintegrate it with the

30:06

disintegration, the natural glass eyeball that can

30:08

cast a spell disintegrate once. That will

30:11

be in the treasury. They can sacrifice

30:13

it to ball at an altar to

30:15

ball that's got like a crazy hot

30:18

flame. And it will literally just destroy

30:20

the gold. It's so hot that it'll

30:22

evaporate the gold. Can you do that?

30:24

Can you evaporate gold? I think hot

30:27

enough, everything is destroyed, right? How hot

30:29

would it be to destroy gold? Somebody

30:31

do some research, please, and tell me

30:34

how hot a fire needs to be

30:36

in order to literally destroy gold, and

30:38

not just melt it, but like literally

30:40

make it so that it can. And

30:43

a card of magical fire, so I

30:45

can always do it. They can dump

30:47

it down the well. into the realms

30:50

of, you know, below the mountain, into

30:52

the realms of the ghost walkers. And

30:54

that makes it impractical for anybody to

30:57

get because then you got to like

30:59

send, you know, look at that. Michael

31:01

and Chat says gold vaporizes at a

31:03

boiling point, which is 1,800 degrees Celsius

31:06

or 5,000 degrees Fahrenheit. What would happen

31:08

when you evaporate gold? Does

31:11

it just coat, does it go

31:13

into the sky? What happens when

31:15

they evaporate a gold cools again?

31:17

I don't know. So they could

31:19

destroy it that way. They could

31:21

also call upon Catel of Mott,

31:23

their friendly chain devil that is

31:26

bound to one of the characters,

31:28

and send all the gold to

31:30

hell. So they can send it

31:32

to hell, disintegrate it, sacrifice it

31:34

to ball. or dump it in

31:36

the well down with the ghost

31:38

walkers. So there's different ways that

31:40

they can do it. And they

31:43

can carry only what they can

31:45

carry, but there's no practical way

31:47

to do it. So that's good.

31:49

There's one critical thing. So this

31:51

is great. I feel very confident

31:53

about this, but the one thing

31:55

I don't have is a map.

31:57

So we're gonna spend a little

32:00

bit of our remaining time on

32:02

the map. last time. This is

32:04

the map I used from last

32:06

time. Okay, so let's see, we'll

32:08

pop open this, drop that in

32:10

there. I think I already printed

32:12

this, but I'm gonna print it

32:14

right now. I'll have another one.

32:17

And what I am going to

32:19

do, so I need to figure

32:21

out what all these little chambers

32:23

are, and particularly where is the

32:25

vault. So the vault is probably

32:27

not. I mean, could the vault

32:29

be so easy to get, like

32:31

they're going through the bottom of

32:34

this place. This could be really

32:36

fast. I could put the vault

32:38

in that lower, let's see, do

32:40

I have the map up so

32:42

we can all see it? Yeah.

32:44

I could put the vault in

32:46

that lower right chamber, but then

32:48

they get to it almost right

32:51

away. And that doesn't seem real

32:53

fun. So I think it would

32:55

be more fun. I

32:57

mean, like, it would make sense

32:59

that that would be where you

33:02

would keep it. And maybe there's

33:04

a couple of, what if they

33:06

have to get the key? So

33:08

this could be better. They know

33:11

where the vault is, but they

33:13

cannot get into the vault. It

33:15

is impractical to pick the lock.

33:18

They need the key. And only

33:20

one being has the key. This

33:22

is nice because it's a movable

33:24

key. That being is gray mist,

33:27

the spell scale vassal of Ibolin.

33:29

Is the only one who holds

33:31

the key. Or is it sunray?

33:33

The young brass dragon's sunray might

33:36

hold the key. I think maybe

33:38

it's sunray that holds the key.

33:40

So we can put that in

33:42

our secrets. The vault itself is

33:45

down below and is protected. And

33:47

there's like a secret door that

33:49

goes in here, but there is

33:52

no practical way for them to

33:54

get into that vault. They're going

33:56

to have to get the key.

33:58

And I'm just going to make

34:01

that super clear to them. You

34:03

know where the vault is, but

34:05

you got to go get the

34:07

key. So they're going to make

34:10

their way into the crypts. There's

34:12

a secret chamber. Let's see. So

34:14

what I'm going to do, give

34:16

me a second. All right, so

34:19

I have a printout of the

34:21

map and I'm going to talk

34:23

it through while I write directly

34:26

on my map. So there's the

34:28

vault, there's the secret vault. Those

34:30

are those lower right chambers. There

34:32

is the vault guardian vault chamber.

34:35

And there is that room to

34:37

the right, that room to the

34:39

south is probably a break room.

34:41

Then that sort of octagonal chamber,

34:44

so we have like skeletal crypts,

34:46

which is that chamber that looks

34:48

like it has a little burial

34:50

passageways. And we have the chamber

34:53

of the dragon wraith, the wraith

34:55

of ball. Ah, and that chamber,

34:57

oh, this is perfect, that chamber

35:00

in the lower left. is the,

35:02

well, is the well to the

35:04

ghost walkers. And I said it

35:06

was like a barred well, but

35:09

maybe it's not barred. Maybe it's

35:11

actually an open well. Okay, so

35:13

I've got that lower area is

35:15

now set. So that staircase, let's

35:18

see, where does that staircase lead?

35:20

This is kind of confusing. I

35:22

think the staircase leads to that

35:24

secret room. So now we're on

35:27

the upper left map and the

35:29

stairs to the vault. So we

35:31

have that, let's see, oh there's

35:34

so many chambers here. So we

35:36

need an altar to ball. There's

35:38

a lot of rooms. So we

35:40

have guard tower, let's see, that's

35:43

easy. That chamber to the lower

35:45

right on the first floor, first

35:47

floor being that upper area. Is

35:49

that like an officer's dining hall?

35:52

Sure, why not? We have the

35:54

kitchen, which is directly to the

35:56

north of that. We have...

35:58

They have the, let's

36:02

see, it

36:05

looks like a ballroom. That

36:07

could be the altar, oh, let's see. Oh, where

36:09

is the shrine? If

36:12

they're gonna sacrifice the gold, they need

36:14

like a way to get it

36:17

from the vault to the shrine and

36:19

if you're moving 27 ,000 pounds, that

36:23

could be tricky. So

36:25

where is the shrine to ball? I guess we're gonna put it there.

36:28

They have the shrine to ball. That's

36:31

gonna be that large chamber

36:33

on the upper left map.

36:35

We have guard towers. We

36:38

have like supply closets, I'll

36:41

just make that easy.

36:44

We have the enlisted

36:46

dining, non

36:48

-noble dining. Then

36:51

where does our dragon hang

36:53

out? So he probably doesn't polymorph

36:55

too often. I'm

36:57

gonna say that this whole open area,

36:59

this whole area in the upper right,

37:01

the lower right area of the upper

37:04

right map is gonna be broken and

37:06

open and that's gonna be the dragon's

37:08

roost. So that part

37:10

of it that keep is actually broken open. There's

37:13

gonna be a meeting chamber that

37:16

let's see, the dragon's roost, what

37:18

else? We'll have an armory, we need

37:20

an armory somewhere. You

37:23

probably wouldn't have your armory, we'll have the armory

37:25

in that area. The

37:27

armory be on the first floor. Officers'

37:31

quarters. And

37:33

then we have gray mist, right?

37:36

So we have gray mist chambers. What

37:39

are these other little,

37:41

we have private quarters

37:43

in the upper right. That

37:46

includes bathrooms and privies and other

37:48

kinds of things. Where do

37:50

people go make their poops? I

37:53

think that that is pretty much it.

37:55

So that's my very quick map,

37:57

but that's probably enough for me to

37:59

be to. to run the game. And

38:01

I think, yeah, I think I can

38:04

go with that. So I think I

38:06

am good. So I

38:08

think we are all set for today's game.
