A 2020 study on Virtuous Victimhood Signaling found that personality types which attempt to project their morality on others, directly or indirectly, are likely individuals with Dark Triad traits like Machiavellians, Narcissism, and Psychopathy. This victimhood complex crosses social categories of identity and is partially driven by the ego. In simple terms, the more someone projects how good they are, in order to obtain social credit and moral licensing, the more sinister they may really be. To stand in the middle of this madness, which is promoted nearly everywhere in society as a cultivated national psychology, requires discernment and separation from the ego.
