Canceled after five

0:02

very successful seasons on the hit reality

0:04

show The Real Housewives of Orange County. Kelly

0:07

Dodd was fired from the show for

0:10

being a conservative. She

0:12

didn't follow the COVID narrative set

0:14

by the left, and she voiced her thoughts

0:16

on social media. Bravo didn't

0:19

like it. She was also seen

0:21

wearing a drunk Wives Matter hat.

0:23

You heard me write, a drunk Wives

0:25

Matter hut, obviously a play on

0:27

Black Lives Matter, but it's hilarious,

0:29

right, It's a joke. Isn't

0:32

she allowed to have an opinion? I

0:34

guess not if you're the Royal Housewives. I

0:36

guess not if you're Bravo. Everyone has

0:39

to be a liberal or I guess those are the only

0:41

views you're you're allowed to espouse

0:44

on that network. But we're

0:46

seeing that across the board, aren't we. Every

0:48

award show, the NFL, every commercial

0:51

we watch, even children's book I mean

0:53

Disney Forgotten's Stake, everything's woke.

0:56

We get the leftist agenda shoved

0:58

down her throats everything and good day of

1:00

our lives. So I'm going to

1:02

talk to her about this and her husband, Rick

1:05

leventhaw who A lot of you guys know as a

1:07

former senior correspondent for Fox News.

1:09

The guy's been to you know, war zones

1:12

nearly a dozen times, so I'm gonna get their insight

1:15

on her firing. Sort of this woke change

1:18

that we're saying in the country, particularly the

1:20

entertainment industry. So buckle up

1:22

for an interesting conversation. Yea.

1:35

For this next episode, we've got

1:38

Kelly Levinthaw. You might know her as Kelly

1:40

Dodd from the Real House with Orange County

1:43

and then also Rick Leventhaw, my former

1:45

colleague at Fox News. Hey guys,

1:47

thanks for joining the Showy

1:49

Lia, Hey Lisa, thanks for having you.

1:51

You know so, Kelly, I am a big

1:54

fan of the Royal Housewives.

1:56

I I love kind of taking a break from the news

1:58

sometimes and just like turn it on at night.

2:00

I find it so interesting. How did you

2:02

end up getting on the show? Um? I

2:06

would think it was season ten I had. I was

2:08

friends was like Lynn Curtain and

2:11

Laurie Peterson. You know, I was friends with

2:13

a lot of the old housewives,

2:15

my first generation. I need Tammy nick Er

2:18

Blocker. I knew m Vicky

2:21

through my friend Rock sand

2:23

as our facialist, and

2:26

they came to me when I

2:28

was going through a divorce with um

2:30

my second husband, Michael, and

2:33

I was engaged to another guy. And

2:35

I know it sounds weird. No one knows

2:37

about this, and UM,

2:41

well, yeah, you found him at last,

2:43

so it's all good. I know. Yeah,

2:46

I say the best for last. So

2:53

anyway, Uh, they came

2:55

to me and I went through the whole process

2:58

of trying out, and

3:00

they came to my house. They did

3:02

the last interview. They told me that

3:05

I got the position. My

3:07

ex husband said they don't. They didn't want

3:10

me to film with my daughter, so

3:13

they didn't want me,

3:15

and they wanted Lydia. Believe

3:17

that season ten I believe. Then

3:20

I came back to my ex husband. Someone

3:23

tipped off production Evolution

3:25

and they said would you like to try out

3:27

a second time? And I was like, yeah, sure,

3:29

why not? And so I tried out

3:32

the second time. I was building

3:34

a house on the beach, and

3:37

uh, my mom moved in with me. My mom

3:39

always lived with me um since I moved to

3:41

San Francisco to Orange Town in two thousand

3:43

and eleven. And they

3:46

liked the whole dynamic of my mom and

3:48

my brother and having this big, huge

3:50

house on the beach and you

3:52

know, married to the former CEO of leap

3:54

Fog his educational toys, and my

3:56

daughter, and uh, they hired me. So

3:59

I got to so, Rick, were you

4:01

did you do the last season? I thought, I swear,

4:04

I thought I read something that you weren't. But then I

4:06

swear to God, I remember seeing you. It was

4:09

towards the end of my career at Fox News,

4:11

and they reluctantly agreed to let

4:13

me film. I think

4:15

it was eight a maximum of eight episodes, and

4:18

it was a short season to begin with. So I

4:20

was in I don't know, eight

4:22

of the twelve episodes, but not in the reunion.

4:24

I guess you may have mentioned us, but I would

4:26

appear for here and there, you know, for a

4:28

short time. But it was a weird season because

4:31

they were filming we've we've film a lot of it on our cell

4:33

phones. It's because of COVID. So

4:35

yeah that when Rick was on with me, we

4:37

had a self film. They shut down

4:39

production. You know, everything was lockdown,

4:42

shut down, And it wasn't a

4:44

great season because everything

4:47

was locked down, Like everything was shut down,

4:49

lockdown. You still got far better ratings than the

4:51

current season did. After they let me go. Yeah,

4:54

I could point that out and

4:56

Rick, you know you've covered war zones, you

4:58

worked on the news for a long time.

5:01

What were you sort of thinking as COVID

5:03

was hitting. You know, I was covering

5:05

it. I was still in New York City at the time

5:07

when when the pandemic hit and all

5:10

the shutdowns, and um, fortunately

5:12

for me, Kelly was was with me

5:14

when it happened and had trouble

5:16

getting back to California, so she went

5:18

up staying with me for weeks at

5:21

a time, almost solid

5:23

for three months. And we

5:25

actually took advantage of the situation

5:28

by going out into the city and walking

5:31

the streets and using city bikes and

5:33

riding all over the place. We you

5:35

know, we we explored all the neighborhoods,

5:37

and both of us were really upset about

5:40

what was happening around us. Uh,

5:43

you know, it was kind of hard for me to cover the

5:45

story and not in

5:47

ject my personal feeling, but you know, Kelly didn't

5:49

have those same restrictions, so um,

5:52

she was kind of voicing what I was feeling, which

5:54

is that the whole thing was overblown, that

5:57

the lockdown didn't work at the mass

5:59

mandates and the social distancing.

6:01

I mean, come on, it was ridiculous and it

6:03

hurt people and giving people

6:06

government checks so they wouldn't have to go to work.

6:08

Um was people were making

6:11

more money not going to work, and they would have made

6:13

if they if they kept their jobs for a

6:15

while at least. And um so there

6:17

was no incentive to go back to work for a lot of people.

6:19

And it was frustrating for me to see everything

6:22

shut down and everything, Uh, people

6:24

suffering and kids not going to school. And Kelly

6:26

felt the same way, and you know, I think I

6:29

voiced it though I was a little bit louder. I

6:31

wasn't scared. I mean, everybody was in their

6:33

house. It was like people were washing

6:35

their vegetables in the dishwasher, and

6:38

it seemed like it was like the end of the world, that

6:40

we were going to get this disease and everyone was

6:42

going to just drop that. That's

6:44

what people thought, and I was

6:46

like, no, it's the flu. I said

6:48

that. On the show. People got mad. They

6:51

said I was insensitive. Uh

6:53

that you know, I said, wearing

6:55

the mask. It doesn't work the

6:58

vaccine when a vaccine, go get

7:00

vaccine, but you could still get COVID getting

7:02

the vaccine. People didn't like that. Uh,

7:05

there was a lot of people, and I think

7:08

it's mostly like the far left

7:10

were they were upset, they were angry

7:12

with you. And I think Kelly was saying

7:15

what a lot of people were thinking, but we're too scared

7:17

to say themselves. And I think Kelly got

7:19

in trouble with Bravo. One of the reasons

7:21

she was she wasn't offered another contract

7:23

is because she was so bold and kept it so

7:26

real during a very fragile

7:28

time where people weren't

7:30

supposed to speak out. People were getting censored

7:32

and censured and you know, kicked off

7:35

of social media platforms for for speaking

7:37

their minds and for sharing information that

7:39

it might go against what the government was telling

7:41

everyone. And they were saying, you're spreading misinformation.

7:44

So I don't know. You

7:46

know, you have a freedom of speech. Who's

7:49

to say what information is correct

7:51

and my information is wrong? I don't

7:54

get it. I think that what you were saying was

7:56

was on on the mark right. And Kelly,

7:58

it's your to your point. You know, there is such

8:00

a thing as freedom of speech. But ultimately

8:03

Bravo ended up letting you go.

8:06

Why do you think they let you go? Um?

8:08

I, well, you know, I think they'd let me go

8:10

because I said a lot of things that upset some

8:13

people. You know, I was, I was frustrated,

8:15

and I was angry with the lockdowns and the mask

8:17

and you know, I was really upset about my daughter not going to

8:19

school, like these kids

8:22

who almost went through two years of

8:24

not learning as we're behind. Like it's

8:26

absolutely you know, businesses are being closed

8:28

shut down. Uh people weren't

8:31

you know, able to make an income? Uh

8:33

you know it's it's really We're starting to make me mad.

8:36

And and people are getting those government chestick

8:38

Rick said. And so many um,

8:41

so many family owned stores and bars

8:43

and restaurants had to close. It was I was just upset

8:45

about the whole thing and afraid to say it. And

8:48

I think you know, I was given a drunk

8:50

wives Matter hat at my wedding

8:52

shower and I wore it for thirty seconds or

8:55

pictures, just like I posted it. It was a

8:57

gag gift, you know, it was a play on words.

8:59

I was getting married, and I didn't

9:01

buy it. I never warred again. Meanwhile,

9:04

the movement, I was accused of mocking the movement.

9:06

You know, Brabo called me and said, you're

9:09

mocking the movement. When they put so much effort

9:11

and um commercials on

9:13

the BLM, and and

9:15

uh, I got all kinds of trouble. And

9:18

you know, the BLM,

9:20

they spent tens of millions of donations

9:22

they received from some of their leaders.

9:25

You know, they spent millions of on their money

9:27

on their homes for themselves and their

9:29

families, and they paid each other

9:31

for you know, from the funds. Allegedly,

9:35

you know, some big corporations stopped

9:37

donating. Uh, they're under investigation.

9:40

And you know, and I'm the one who got in trouble

9:42

and called a racist. It wasn't just about

9:45

that, though, and you know it was it was about you saying

9:47

a lot of things that upset a lot of people at

9:49

a time when you weren't you know,

9:51

no one was being allowed to say anything, and

9:54

you know you were you weren't holding back, right,

9:56

you know. And and I caused him a lot of grief.

9:58

I caused him a lot of trouble. They worked over time.

10:01

Yeah, yeah, you know, I keep responsibility

10:04

for things I said. You know, I was angry and frustrated,

10:06

and lots of people spoke out and I got censored

10:08

and punished for it. You know, most of everybody

10:11

on my show. I kept quiet.

10:13

They didn't want to get in trouble. Quick break

10:15

back with Rick and Kelly on the other side. I

10:21

saw you say, uh. I

10:23

think it was on Instagram.

10:25

It was like a back and forth with a fan, and you said

10:28

you're fired because I'm conservative. You

10:30

know, I think that's I think that's I

10:32

think that's probably a lot of it. I mean,

10:34

I think there's all. I think there's a lot of

10:37

you know, I cause a lot of headaches. You know,

10:40

you did the politics Factory. I think so,

10:42

But a lot of people think so, you know. I mean, I don't

10:44

know. But just for the record, the ratings were

10:46

a lot better last season when I was on the show.

10:49

You know, they said that it was a boycott. Um,

10:52

you know that there was a boycott against me,

10:55

and people are starting to turn off

10:57

because they got the work. They said that,

10:59

but they but clearly there was there

11:01

was no effective boycott last season. There

11:04

was not. It was a bunch of nonsense from a very

11:06

small, loud minority. And and none

11:08

of these things I said. I got punished,

11:10

you know, sixteen thousand dollars I got

11:12

punished for. Um, We're never

11:14

on the show. It was just me venting

11:17

off camera on social media. But

11:19

I get it. I was too real, you

11:21

know, But isn't that the point?

11:24

And how many conservatives do you think

11:26

are on the different franchises? I mean,

11:28

how many housewives do you think are conservative?

11:31

I think I think a lot of people, oh, on

11:33

the franchises. I mean Orange

11:35

County, Orange County is without

11:38

naming names, without naming names, Orange

11:40

County is very conservatives.

11:43

Yeah, very

11:46

very No, they're scared, they're so

11:48

they're scared to death. I mean, you know,

11:50

uh, they don't want to talk about it. They don't

11:52

want to because once you talk about

11:54

it, you lose half your band

11:57

base. So they're not stupid.

11:59

They don't want to lose half their band baidse

12:01

Bay and it's not you cannot

12:03

it's not the Real Housewives anymore. And I

12:05

think a lot of my conservatives

12:08

I have, you know, a pretty big band base,

12:10

bigger than Gina and uh and

12:12

and Emily, and you

12:15

know, they fired me, and so

12:17

I think a lot of the the

12:20

conservatives were turned off

12:22

by Bravo. You know, they don't want to watch

12:24

they like you said, you know, I worked

12:27

in the news. I watched the news. I want

12:29

mindless fun TV

12:32

where I don't have to watch politics, and

12:35

I think Bravo brought politics

12:37

in there, and I think it's turned

12:39

off a lot of people. And ratings for

12:41

New York took a nose drive in the ratings

12:43

for Orange County with the worse in the history of

12:45

that franchise. This past senging and

12:48

then and then they bumped up a little bit at the last

12:50

of the final finale. Still

12:53

is a million lessons and that aren't

12:56

I mean, you're gonna understand not a million. I

12:58

don't know. Yeah, but you have been a stand when we

13:00

were on there was the riots,

13:03

the Capital riots were going on, the private

13:05

ential thing was going on. Uh,

13:07

you know, there was a lot of viewership

13:10

going towards the news. Yeah, the ratings

13:12

last season was remarkable, really

13:15

that the year. Last season, the ratings

13:17

were over a million almost every single week,

13:19

and the ratings for TV News weren't

13:21

an all time high because it was during the run

13:24

up to the election between uh,

13:26

the president, former President Trump and and President

13:28

Biden. It was a run up to the election, so the

13:31

TV News I'm sure you remember at least of the ratings for the

13:33

News during that stress of October November

13:36

was like ten twelve, sixteen million

13:38

a night between CNN, MS and Fox

13:41

and and Bravo still was Orange

13:43

County was still getting over a million viewers every

13:46

week. It was remarkable considering

13:48

the competition. And this season they didn't

13:50

have that competition, and they were they were down

13:52

into the seven hundreds. They had five of the lowest

13:54

rated shows in the history of the franchise.

13:56

It was it was pathetic, and Kelly wasn't

13:59

there, And I think a lot of viewers missed her, missed

14:01

her realness, missed her um willingness

14:03

to speak her mind, and so what what what made

14:06

her so popular? Also, I think god or wanted

14:08

to kick off the show and Kelly, you look

14:10

at someone like Andy Cohen. So you know, I watched

14:12

Bravo. I'll watch what Happens Live afterwards.

14:14

Sometimes he's clearly like a raging liberal.

14:17

So I mean, how much do you think he projects

14:19

his own views on the

14:21

network and the different Real Housewives

14:23

franchises. Oh, I think he totally pushes

14:26

his forces his agenda on people. And that's

14:28

why on my reunion when I got

14:30

into him, like into an

14:33

argument with them, I said, people being He's

14:35

like people call you uneducated,

14:37

they say that you're missing, you spreading

14:41

misinformation, you know this, and this,

14:43

I mean clearly putting his

14:45

political views on me.

14:47

And I said, that's funny, because I get tons

14:49

of d M where people don't want to see a political

14:51

show. You know that you're constantly

14:54

shoving your viewpoints down

14:56

people's throats. And that's not

14:58

what Bravo is

15:01

is. It's not a TV, it's not CNN,

15:03

it's not MSNBC. It is

15:06

to watch mindless fun

15:08

TV, not not to get

15:10

into politics. And I said that, and

15:13

I got fired. I got a right. One of the

15:15

reasons I got fired that that was Kelly in a nutshells

15:17

he wasn't afraid to speak your mind, even on

15:19

camera to the you

15:21

know, the facto boss of the

15:23

whole franchise le network. Like

15:26

I mean, he's not, but he is. You know, he's the face

15:28

and the name, and she's still he is the executive

15:30

producer, so he calls, he can call the shot.

15:33

In my opinion is there's room for that on the show.

15:35

They need Kelly. They need people like Kelly.

15:38

They need that spirit and that

15:40

realness and that you know, ability to be

15:43

true and stand up to others and

15:46

and make some entertaining TV and it was it

15:48

was bland and suff this year because because

15:50

Kelly wasn't there and everyone was kissing one

15:53

particular housewives. But and and

15:55

and not um not

15:57

being truthful the team is that these ladies

15:59

need a job. They get paid handsomely

16:01

for working part time. They

16:04

thought that Heather Debro was going to come back and save

16:06

the show. Dave couldn't be true

16:08

and real to themselves and hence

16:11

that's why the show sucked this

16:13

year. I mean it's just point blank. I

16:17

mean everybody that I talked to, you

16:19

know, I have seven hundred and eighty

16:21

four thousand followers on Instagram

16:24

and then two d and something like two hundred

16:26

thirty thousand, a total

16:28

of a million followers. I get

16:30

constantly like, I'm so sick of Bravo

16:33

putting their politics involved. You know, this is

16:35

not what we're watching for. But you

16:37

know, I am grateful

16:39

for the time I had on the show. You know, it

16:41

was an amazing experience. I made

16:44

great friends and made great money at

16:46

the time. But yeah, I'm also focusing on

16:48

the future. Kelly, do you know of anyone um

16:50

on one of the or any of the housewives who

16:53

maybe said left winning things or

16:55

you know, have posted about liberal ideology.

16:58

Have any of them gotten in trouble with

17:00

Bravo for any of the things that they have publicly

17:02

said if it's left leading. No,

17:05

Look at Lisa Arenna. Look at Lisa Arena.

17:07

I mean she went all balls

17:09

to the walls. Duranda Medley, Bramlin

17:13

did that. She'd never gotten trouble. She was all

17:16

about the left. They

17:18

never got charged anything

17:20

because they were posting about they were following

17:23

the lead. They were, they were following the agenda

17:25

at the time. You know, Dranda Medley, all she does

17:27

is she talks about politics.

17:29

She gets a freaking serious XM radio show

17:31

on on on Radio

17:34

Andy. I didn't get let go from New York, but I think

17:36

that was that was for the reasons. But he

17:38

he rewarded her by giving

17:40

her a slot on serious XM

17:43

Radio. Andy. Now, because she's so

17:45

far left, you think for one second

17:47

that he has one. And

17:49

I don't call myself. I

17:52

called myself a libertarian because you

17:54

know, I'm physically conservative

17:57

and I'm you know, I'm socially liberal. So

18:00

I believe in a hand up, you know, I believe that we

18:02

should help old people. I believe you should pay

18:04

our taxes, but I believe, you know, parents

18:06

black taxes. I believe, and

18:09

if you work hard, you get rewarded

18:11

for your work. You know. I

18:13

don't believe getting all your money to the government

18:16

and having them tell you how to live your life. These

18:19

left people are left woke, they

18:21

do I I don't believe in that, And it

18:23

seems like there's not

18:25

even one moderate on serious

18:28

XM Radio Andy. I mean, I

18:30

listen to these people and they're like, you know

18:32

this, Miss Michelle Collins show. She's like,

18:35

yeah, you know, I believe in free speach, but

18:37

I don't believe that you should say this. It's like it's

18:39

like hypothaesy on so many

18:41

levels, and it's like it's hard to listen

18:43

to. And it's like, isn't that

18:45

discrimination? Is that discrimination

18:48

that you're you're not allowed to

18:50

to to have a difference of opinions?

18:53

I mean, isn't that what we have? Is that

18:55

what we live in America? It's just

18:57

it just boggles my mind. I just that

19:00

I thought that Drunk Wives Matter hat was funny.

19:03

It was to play on word. It was just funny,

19:05

and they love it. They

19:07

loved. They love to use these buzz works.

19:09

They love to say rights, I am Mexican, I

19:12

am my full Mexican, I'm

19:14

thirty percent Native American. I

19:17

had I showed all my twenty three in me, you

19:19

know, and it's like, I'm the minority

19:21

here, and you know I was, I'm

19:26

a walking rainbow and for people, and it's

19:28

mostly white woke kids

19:30

that are saying that I'm

19:32

I'm racist. It's like it's and

19:35

it's like Rick's daughter is really

19:37

woke and she's she said,

19:39

well, you can't wear that because you're you're what they're

19:41

called a white passer buyer. I'm

19:44

like, what I mean, these people

19:46

make up these buzz words. And I'm like, did

19:48

you know that I grew up in a predominantly white

19:51

neighborhood and people used to make fun of me that I

19:53

was brown skin, you know,

19:55

black hair that you know, called

19:58

me beaner all the time. You know, like does

20:01

she understand? Like what? It

20:03

just it boggles my mind that

20:05

they love to use these buds words as racist,

20:08

you're racist. And by the way, you

20:10

know, when I first started the show,

20:13

they called me a racist because I was married

20:15

to Michael at the time and there

20:17

was a football a basketball player

20:20

that was hitting on me and I was talking to him, and

20:22

they when I came out with the nice guy, they asked him,

20:24

do you like black guys? And

20:27

I said, no, like

20:30

And it had nothing to do with you know, I

20:32

thought I was gonna get trouble. I was married. I mean, I don't

20:34

date, you know, I think it was it

20:36

was And then then they called me a racist

20:39

because I said I don't date black guys. Do you think

20:42

I think it was a set up? And do you It was a total

20:44

set up. And then you know, it's like if somebody said, do

20:47

you do you date Asians?

20:49

No, I've never dated an Asian. Doesn't mean I I

20:52

don't like Asians, you

20:55

know, I just these it's

20:57

I have a lot of black friends. I have a lot

20:59

of Asian friends. I have a lot

21:01

of every color around the rainbow.

21:03

I'm very worldly. I lived in Hong Kong.

21:07

It was an easy way for people to criticize

21:09

you or or come after you. That's what it was. It

21:11

was just an easy way for them to come after

21:13

That hat was a gift

21:16

you worn for ten seconds. I can guarantee

21:18

you because she's never one that had again, she wouldn't

21:20

have worn it again. I don't think that hat

21:23

was made seven years

21:25

ago. That hat my

21:27

girlfriend had that hat seven years

21:29

ago, seven years ago, that hat was made.

21:32

That hat was trademark seven years ago point

21:34

and it had nothing to do with Black

21:36

Lives Matter. But yet, but I still think

21:38

it's funny. I think it's

21:40

funny. Like I I, it's a joke. People need

21:42

to take a joke, Everyone needs to lay

21:45

up. But that's but that's the problem of where

21:47

we are today is everything is so

21:49

woke. Everyone is so sensitive. You know,

21:51

Rick, we talked about sort of the ratings taking

21:54

a nose dive, but we all saw Real Housewives

21:56

in New York just completely imploded

21:58

because the entire last season

22:01

was so woke, just shoving all the micro

22:03

regret, all this crap down her throats. Like

22:06

do you think the executives at Bravo

22:08

are you know, putting it together? Of

22:11

okay, you know, we're injecting all these

22:13

left wing ideology down people's

22:15

throats when they're just trying to have a good time and the job.

22:18

Maybe that's why the readings

22:20

are are taking a nose dive. Did you think

22:22

they figured it out? They they

22:24

must have by now, And I

22:26

had heard something before this current season

22:29

that they were not gonna they were to avoid bringing

22:32

politics back into the mix because they saw

22:34

what happened. They write, they I mean they saw, they

22:36

saw how badly it hurt them, all

22:38

that political talk and all that BLM stuff

22:41

and all the you know, the woke stuff and

22:43

um and that that this is supposed to be an entertainment

22:46

show and they shouldn't be worried about informing

22:49

people or trying to change people's

22:51

minds about things. I don't know. All

22:53

I know is that that Kelly

22:55

was and he

22:58

was a real Housewives. She remains a real house

23:00

My my real wife. She's

23:02

not afraid to speak her mind, and

23:05

she's she's she comes from a very

23:07

good place. She's got the biggest heart of anyone

23:09

I know. She's a warm, wonderful,

23:11

loving, giving person. Uh

23:14

And and it hurts me to

23:16

see her criticized

23:18

or called out for just for

23:20

saying things that people are thinking but don't

23:23

think you're allowed to say out loud. And you know, that's

23:25

the beauty of Kelly. She's she's got no

23:27

filter and she says what's on her mind,

23:29

and it's gotten her in trouble. But that's

23:31

what sad is that on our climate you're not allowed

23:33

to say or do you have any kind of feelings, you have

23:35

to go. Like everybody's scared to be

23:38

on these shows now they can't say what they

23:40

feel and you're not allowed to say anything that

23:43

isn't towards their narrative or else you'll

23:45

get punished. You'll get fined, you'll get

23:47

fired. I mean, just I'm the prime

23:50

example. That doesn't sound very real.

23:52

Then no quick

23:54

break, and then all the questions you've

23:56

ever wanted to know about the Housewives

23:59

stay tuned, Kelly.

24:03

Do you think Bravo gets it that you know,

24:05

maybe you know we're pushing all these woke

24:08

policies, woke ideologies. Ratings

24:11

aren't doing so great. Do you think they get

24:13

it? I hope they get it. I hope

24:15

they understand that not everybody

24:18

that watches Bravo is gay

24:20

and transgender, and like

24:23

you know that there are a lot of people that are

24:25

conservatives, you know, tuning in and

24:27

watching, well, they are conservative gays and conservative

24:30

transgenders too, and a

24:32

lot of them have come out, but

24:34

they do, but they think that

24:37

their whole you know, people

24:39

are you know, like Andy Cohen said, people

24:42

are damn me, there's a boycott, there's

24:44

this, there's that, because they're listening

24:47

to that small, loud

24:49

group of people that

24:52

are woke, broke. But you

24:54

know, it's like, it's

24:57

just so frustrating and irritating

24:59

to me that we are flipping

25:02

into communist socialism

25:05

communists. It's just you

25:07

know, if you're getting censored. You know, I

25:09

got shadow band from Twitter, I

25:12

got shadow band from UH from

25:15

UH Instagram, Instagram. What I love

25:17

is you get thousands of comments on our posts,

25:19

and I love when people write and say I

25:21

don't agree with everything you say, but I

25:23

but I love you and support you, and I appreciate

25:26

that you're willing to to say what you think,

25:28

that you're willing to speak your mind. She gets those all the time.

25:31

Yeah, you know, it's like, why can't we have a

25:33

difference of agreement, Like why I can listen

25:36

an opinion? Why I listen to people

25:38

all the time and I'm not saying

25:40

I'm right, So why can't you respect

25:43

other opinions and outlooks

25:46

on things. I just it's it's so

25:48

frustrating and it's so disheartening to

25:50

see that, you know, I

25:53

I got punished for being real. I totally

25:55

agree. And before I want to give you guys a chance to

25:57

talk about a lot of things you're working on. Before

26:00

you do, I've got to ask you just like

26:02

basic questions about the show. I asked on my

26:04

girlfriends things that they want to know. So,

26:06

Kelly, I just want to go through some of these questions about,

26:09

you know, just kind of how the show works and just basic

26:11

you know, behind the scenes type stuff. Kelly, how scripted

26:13

is the show? If that's scripted, it's

26:16

produced. So you

26:18

know, when you know, you'll you'll do a

26:20

scene and then the next time you do another scene,

26:23

they'll be like, Okay, this is what happened. Let's

26:25

talk about this, so well give you talking

26:27

points. They won't say, hey, say

26:29

this or do this, but they'll

26:31

bring up what happened in the

26:34

reminder of you know of

26:36

that. But it's not scripted. It's just it's

26:39

produced. So like like

26:41

like Shannon and the other day, I go, why didn't you

26:43

say this is? I did? But

26:45

they didn't edit it in there. You know, it's

26:49

not like it's fully reality

26:51

obviously, uh, because

26:54

I got censored. But it's

26:56

not scripted, it's not like you're you're reading from

26:58

some mind. And do they ever tell you

27:01

you can't say certain things? But

27:05

if they don't like them, no, editor, now they don't

27:07

have to include anything, right, But

27:09

no, they've never told me. You

27:11

know, if I'm sitting on you know,

27:13

in a confessional and I'm sitting

27:15

there and I'm you know, they'll be like can

27:18

you say it like this? They'll

27:20

give me two ways of like rewarding

27:23

it or saying it again. But then if

27:25

I don't want to, I don't have to. I'll

27:27

be like, hey, I'm not saying that. Like for instance,

27:29

they wanted me to talk about Shannon's cooking right

27:31

there, like because I threw the it away and They're like,

27:33

say it was disgusting, and I'm like, it

27:36

wasn't disgusting. I didn't want

27:38

to eat it. Do they ever make you reshoot scenes?

27:41

Yes, they do. They make you reshoot. Yes, I've

27:43

had that happen maybe five

27:46

times where they didn't get

27:48

the audio clear. They'll make you

27:50

do pick ups like what they

27:53

hear you correctly, and then they'll you

27:55

know, they'll reshoot something that

27:57

they didn't get. Yeah, They'll they'll

27:59

have you reshoot things. Yeah,

28:02

do you think the editing process is fair.

28:04

I do. I think I think the editing process

28:06

is fair. But they can pick favorites. They

28:08

can. They can make one person look

28:11

better and another person look worse if they want

28:13

to, and they do that on

28:15

occasion. Um right, well

28:17

yeah, so like like Gina, Like Gina

28:20

has gotten away with her behavior

28:23

for four years now, they're just now showing

28:25

it. She went after Elizabeth Bargas

28:27

hardcore when we were on there,

28:30

and they never showed it. They made her look

28:32

like an angel, they made her look good, and

28:35

it was really frustrating to see. So

28:38

yeah, I think they do play favorites. How

28:40

long did the confessionals take? Oh

28:42

my god? That I think it's like, I

28:44

think the confessionals are like of the

28:46

show, But how long do you sit there? For hours?

28:48

I sit there for hours. So I'll go in like around

28:51

eight in the morning and I'll get out of there about five.

28:55

Yeah, and then and there, I mean,

28:58

we're in there at least once a week, and we're

29:00

dump finishing once or twice a week. And

29:02

then how do you prepare for the reunions because

29:04

those are always you know, very fiery. Everyone's

29:06

sort of at each other's throats. How do

29:09

you prepare for it? How long did they take take us

29:11

through sort of you know reunions and the whole

29:13

process behind it. Well, you

29:15

know you for instance, like Andy

29:17

Cohen, I knew Andy Cone was going to come after me

29:19

for he was like, you know, you really didn't

29:22

do anything on the show, but

29:24

their social media was atrocious

29:27

and like blah blah. I knew he was going to come

29:29

after me. So you know, I wasn't

29:31

gonna let him, you know, believe

29:33

me, I wasn't. I wasn't gonna do that. I was even

29:36

if I even if I wasn't going

29:38

to suck up to him, I

29:41

was gonna stay true to myself. I was gonna

29:43

you know, I wanted to have dignity. I wanted

29:45

to be real, and obviously

29:48

they didn't like it, and so I prepared

29:51

myself for him coming after me. I actually

29:53

helped Kelly record the last reunion

29:56

UM could because you know, because

29:58

I just as a UM as

30:00

her husband, as a journalistism, I obviously

30:03

tracked the show and I knew there were key

30:05

points that she was thinking to have been ready for, and

30:08

so I talked to her about it and we went through

30:10

some stuff together, and you know, obviously I was only

30:12

there for the last evening. We weren't together before

30:14

that. That was part of it, right, So you watched,

30:17

you watched the show, and then

30:19

you take notes and then you you

30:22

know, kind of like the access of what you

30:24

think they're going to ask you, and you have to have a rebuttal.

30:27

You were in there on your own for what you

30:29

know, it was like twelve hours and you're

30:32

you're sitting there for twelve hours. It's

30:34

exhausting. It's like when you're

30:36

getting like bombarded

30:39

and and and attacked and

30:41

from all angles, and it's like it's like

30:44

you're in a fight. How are you friends

30:46

with people after that? Because you know, I've watched

30:48

a lot of the I mean there's a lot of low blows

30:50

and it gets pretty vicious. Is it hard

30:52

to walk out of that and you'd be friends

30:54

with some of these people? And she was, again,

30:56

yeah, it was. It was really hard

30:59

to be fun with Vicky and tamra Um

31:02

after those shows. But you

31:04

know, we spent so much time together

31:07

and we really did have a good friendship.

31:09

I didn't talk to them for a couple of years, and

31:12

I think it was like, you know, tiny heels

31:14

all wounds, and we

31:17

we just got to an understanding of hey, we

31:20

really enjoyed ourselves. You

31:22

know, a lot of it. You know it was before TV show.

31:25

We really like each other. Let's you know,

31:27

let's let's be friends again. So you

31:30

know, like, I'm good friends with Shannon. You know, we

31:32

have a lot of we had a lot of uh

31:35

of issues and problems and but

31:37

you know we're really good friends. You know, we talked on

31:39

the phone for hours and hours and hours and

31:42

hung out with Bush and John on Saturday.

31:45

We had a great time to go, right, So you

31:47

know, I'm friends with them.

31:50

We've spent years together. And you

31:52

talked to Tama all the time. Yeah.

31:56

Although Shannon really got picked on this season

31:58

pretty badly. She did.

32:00

She got really picked up, and you know, she came

32:02

into the seasons going, you know, I've

32:05

been working so hard. I think

32:07

she's been on for eight years. She's like, I'm gonna let

32:09

the new girls work. Yeah, She's like, I'm

32:11

gonna sit back, have a good time. And she went

32:14

in with a positive attitude. She had

32:16

no idea they were going to come after her the

32:18

way they the way they did. Heather

32:21

de bro can push all this woke

32:23

stuff and it's like celebrated.

32:26

So it's like she gets to be you

32:28

know, she gets to exercise freedom of speech

32:30

and and you know, say what she wants, right,

32:32

and she gets to say, oh yeah, exactly.

32:35

She gets exercise their narrative right.

32:38

But as soon as somebodys against their narrative,

32:40

they get fired. It's such hypocrisy,

32:43

it's unbelievable. And so you

32:45

guys are working on a bunch of different stuff. You have

32:47

a podcast, you have a morning news

32:49

show, you're flipping houses, you

32:52

know, talk about you know, talk about some of

32:54

the projects you guys are working on

32:56

it. And then I want to hear from Kelly before we go. We've

32:58

been doing a couple of podcasts a

33:00

week now. We have one on patreon

33:03

dot com. It was called Rick and Kelly

33:05

on Mask, but we just dropped The Unmatched because we're

33:07

so sick of mass and sick of talking about them, and

33:10

so it's just we're

33:12

moving on with Yeah,

33:16

we're the Rick and Kelly Show on Patreon, and we have

33:18

a Rick and Kelly show on YouTube. We do r

33:20

H O C Recap. We're gonna start recapping Beverly

33:23

Hills and we also do other stuff. We do medical

33:25

segments and fashion

33:28

and Kelly does fashion and makeup

33:30

stuff and and we just did a workout video.

33:32

We're gonna start tracking our progress and losing some

33:34

weight. But um, we're also working

33:37

on a potential morning show for

33:39

an unnamed network. Um. We want

33:41

to do an hour like Regis and Kelly,

33:43

but it'll be Rick and Kelly. Um. You know, creative

33:46

and smart and informative and compelling.

33:48

You know. We just we just have great chemistry together

33:51

and love working together. And we I

33:54

think we have some really cool, interesting stories

33:56

to share, you know, not just about stuff

33:59

happening in the world around on this in our own world.

34:01

Just you know, the stuff that we're doing, I think

34:03

people can relate to it, um, and

34:06

and just they relate to Kelly being so real

34:08

and fresh and unfiltered. And we're

34:10

also we're remodeling a house in the desert,

34:12

and we have a production company that reached out is putting

34:15

us as a real together to do like a flipping

34:17

show. Um, we're hopeful on that. You

34:20

know. In the meantime, we're just we're having

34:22

trun together. We're doing our shows every week, and

34:24

we're traveling and we're working

34:26

on our house. I'm loving

34:28

life out here in California. It's it's it's awesome,

34:31

Kelly. Anything else you want to add, anything

34:33

you want to leave us with before we go. I'm glad

34:35

that Bravo gave me a platform

34:38

and opportunity. I'm

34:41

I'm happy that I stuck to my guns.

34:44

I see true to myself. And uh,

34:47

I'm kind of happy that the rating

34:50

suck this year because

34:54

they put so much emphasis on me ruining

34:56

the show, saying that, you know, I

35:00

that people boycotted the show and

35:03

you know, it was all live and they believed

35:05

it, and they made me feel bad about myself.

35:07

So um, it's you know, all

35:10

good. You know, all good things come to an end.

35:12

They based off based ever when they let you go,

35:15

But I know that you appreciated your time

35:17

there. You had a terrific experience. Um,

35:20

and and you

35:22

kind of move on, you know, And I'm

35:25

okay, I'm okay with it, and I'm actually

35:27

happy to work with Rick, and I know good

35:29

things are you know, in the funnel,

35:32

and I just hope something sticks

35:35

and you know, we're just we have great chemistry together.

35:38

So I just I'm hopeful

35:40

for the future. Can I just say one of

35:42

the things, Lisa. You know, I spent twenty

35:44

four years at Fox News Channel and I have great

35:47

friends there, and um, I

35:50

just I felt really bad about what happened

35:52

in Ukraine. And I don't want to change the tone of the interview,

35:54

but I did feel so awful for

35:57

for Ben Hall. I know he has a family,

35:59

he's a rave guy. I just I

36:01

feel for him and I wish him and his family

36:03

the best during his recovery and readjustment.

36:06

And I worked with Pierre Zakhchevski,

36:08

the cameraman who was killed, and I I

36:10

love that guy. He was an amazing, chill

36:13

and brave dude who

36:16

worked so hard. He was he was committed

36:18

to the craft and he was just you know, whenever

36:20

I see him, it was a smile and a hug. And I

36:24

spent time with him in war zones in Afghanistan

36:26

and elsewhere, and I just I can't even believe

36:28

what happened. I feel awful about it. And I

36:31

just know that you know that that's a dangerous job,

36:33

and you know, had I still been

36:35

a Fox, I could have been there with him, and and you

36:37

know, I respect what they do and I feel

36:39

awful about what happened to them, um,

36:42

but but moving on from news and being

36:45

able to do shows to Kelly and focus

36:47

on our lives together has been a blessing. And

36:50

for the folks at home, you know, pray for Pierre's

36:52

family. And Benjamin Hall is still recovering, so

36:54

pray m I've always had amense amount of respect for him.

36:57

He's a tremendous reporter. I don't know him personally,

36:59

but has respected him, So pray for him

37:01

as he, you know, continues his journey

37:03

towards recovery. Rick and Kelly Loventh

37:06

thought, thanks so much for joining me. Kelly

37:08

was always a fan of you on the show. I think you did a

37:10

great job, so I think you can keep your head up

37:12

high and keeping it real. So

37:15

thanks so much for joining guys. I really appreciate

37:17

this was fun. Thank you. Thanks, thanks

37:27

so much for listening. Guys. I'm gonna trying to get

37:29

you a bunch of different types of

37:32

guests on the show, get different perspectives,

37:35

people from different walks of life, just

37:37

kind of keep things interesting, mix it up a

37:39

little bit. I hope you enjoyed it. I hope you

37:41

keep enjoying it. You can always listen

37:43

to the Truth with Lisa Booth on the I Heart

37:45

Radio app, Apple podcast, Spotify,

37:48

wherever you get your podcast. I'd really appreciate

37:50

it if you wouldn't mind and going and

37:53

rating us five stars, maybe leaving us

37:55

a review, if you don't mind sharing with your

37:57

friends, and if you liked this conversation

38:00

and tune in for Thursday's interview. It's

38:02

going to be with my friend Dave Reubin.

38:04

We're going to talk about his journey from being a

38:06

liberal to a conservative and now

38:08

he's fighting the good fight. And he's also another

38:10

fellow Lauridian down here

38:12

with me. So please share this episode

38:15

and the rest of them. I appreciate you guys watching,

38:17

and thank you to my producer, John Cassio.
