This was an interesting piece of internet history. I didn't at all agree with Ronson's conclusions, but he has been a free speech advocate for quite some time now, so it wasn't surprising. It would have been nice to hear more about why people disagree with hosting moderation-free content, or how exactly we are supposed to all agree one where the line between racist jokes and hate speech is.

If you've ever yelled at someone on social media about, say, cancel culture or mask-wearing, then you are a soldier in the culture wars - those everyday battles for dominance between conflicting values. The acclaimed writer and podcaster Jon Ronson has seen friends swallowed up in them to the extent that it's ruined their lives.
