Good story. Runs a little slow and I wish they'd hurry up and get some more out there.
Two seasons in and it feels like barely anything has happened to the point that I no longer care about 'the mystery' anymore. Most of this feels padded through its style of self narrating that feels like bad film noir writing and is continually 'telling not showing'. It reminds me of the original theatrical release of Blade Runner where Harrison Ford was forced to put in narration to spoon feed the audience and purposefully did a bad job hoping it wouldn't be used.Fails as a horror, fails as a mystery podcast, fails in bringing nature to life and fails to be a meaningful introspective exploration of isolation.
Great story with a good pace. It has too much strong language though.
Fun start and then the pacing drops. The radio dialog with the other watcher can be tough due to the production. The “radio” effect was used a bit too much so you have to turn up the volume to hear her, only to have the main voice way too loud.Neat idea…. Could have been better
if you like mystery, drama and romance definitely start this podcast. s2 is a bit meh but s3 was great and by its ending I can say s4 is gonna be ever better
I started listening on a whim and immediately added the remaining episodes to my listening queue because it was just so engaging. The setting is perfect and works well for the plot as the backdrop for uncertainty. Mike and Amber keep me on my toes, never sure what exactly is trustworthy and what may be deception? Delusion? Misunderstanding? I love the mysterious aspects of this, as well as the sense of isolation. The writing tone is generally friendly and engaging, but that does not rob moments of their intensity when things go sideways. Instead, it serves to deepen the relationship between listener and character. I care very much about what happens to Mike in his fire tower and the surrounding woods! I was drawn in quickly and eagerly look forward to episodes as they release. This is a solid production telling an uneasy tale of isolation and what else is out there with us.
Great story. Excellent pacing and voice.
Starts out strong, but the protagonist Mike turns mysoginist in episode four and begins mistreating the woman who is his sole social contact to the point where i DNFedat the beginning of episode 6.Do not recommend.
Nice story idea, & quirky with it. Enjoying.
Good story and kept me listening. It seems identical to the game Firewatch, which is puzzling. But I enjoyed it.
The story has an engaging premise but eventually degenerates into horror movie clichés. The sense of mystery is because the author is making it up as he goes. I.e., it's also a mystery to him.
I like the premise and the plot is fairly engaging. The music is great and I actually like the interludes where the music builds and there is no speech. That said, I don't like the characters... at all. Mike is a hysterical bitch and Amber is a cross between a door mat and a dumpster fire. Maybe it's because I just can't relate to people who would allow themselves to be betrayed by their boyfriend/girlfriend repeatedly. And, that's all they talk about - Amber being cheated on and going back, Mike righteously yelling at his drunken, loose ex. Get a grip! If someone is a snake, you run like hell - don't sign up to be bitten time after time. If you do, then you are a dumb-ass and a dumb-ass commands less respect than a snake. But this might be brilliant literary device. Kind of like Napoleon Dynamite. The main characters are such a disaster that you're morbidly curious and you can't look away.Anyway, I almost pulled the ripcord halfway through season three. All the rehashing of cringe worthy radio conversations from season two had me hovering over the un-follow button a couple of times. But I soldiered on and it got a little better. One of two things need to happen, now: Either Mike and Amber do a lot of growing - learn from their past - and become likeable/respectable or the story wraps up soon.Advice for the creators: Stop doing little episodes where you explain why you are behind on production. This series is what it is - a neat idea with lackluster execution. But that's not the end of the world. Just clean it up or wrap it up.I can hear "un-follow" whispering my name. We'll see...
By far my favorite podcast today!
Very good listen, loving it.
Minor annoyances would be the cringe and dated political dialogue, the plagiarizing of a multitude of things from the videogame firewatch and that lady's voice is honestly grating after awhile. But my main issue is this had a lot of great buildup and mystery, but immediately blows it by revealing it to us and then having to give the character amnesia after writing itself into a corner. The story gets super boring after that and I saw there were two more seasons of this show, no clue what they could possibly do with this. Really disappointing because the music, the atmosphere, the mystery and the main characters attitude felt almost tailor made for me I was obsessed for a minute there. Same with those flash back sequences or the subplot about the homeless people, absolutely amazing. But yeah big let down unfortunately, I gave this 6 episodes more of listening after the point I stopped caring and didn't help.
Tower 4 is a podcast that's got me totally hooked. It's got a few glitches, like no added audio to emphasise certain parts, but it's still super soothing. The cast is small, the music is amazing, and the plot is pretty solid, keeping you engaged all the way. The script is top-notch; it's so good that I've ditched my audiobook for Tower 4. The only downside is the long breaks between episodes with not much happening in the story. Still, the story itself is good, intriguing, and mysterious. One small issue is that Amber's voice could be louder. Unfortunately, the frustration of waiting so long between episodes really bugs me.
Waiting for some clarity. Couldn't stand Ambers character or style of narration. Just kind of a naive bland obnoxious girl stuffing her face. Personality of a loose doorknob.
Great podcast. Keeps you wondering who is in on whatever is actually going on.
just finished season 1, loving the story so much and the production is very well done. wish it was coming out faster, but that's a minor quibble.
Love Tower 4 I am having withdrawals waiting for new episodes lol
